still, the hover features makes a great difference for me. I have an exotic currently with 2250 of maneuverability, next to my best interceptor which has 1384, the interceptor still feels easier to control, to land and to drive in general

Hello, travellers. I was hoping someone might be able to help me with a hunt for some very specific Living Frigates. I'm looking for Explorer and Support types, with as many tentacles as possible, WITHOUT the big massive tail, in the color spectrum of gold/white-gold/white-yellow. I've already taken the ones off NMSCE that I thought looked good.

kinda, the story helps you to unlock technology and things to make your journey easier, also you need to fight sentinels to get them, so you should get a decent multitool, you dont rely on combat, but its better to be prepared to engage just in case

you go to a dissonant system, find the dissonant planet, destroy some structures that you gonna find there, they look like a machine extracting something, one of them is gonna drop an echo locator, you active it to find an “harmonic camp” this are places where autophages lives, they are stealth, there’s a mission where you gonna meet them (I think you dont need it for interceptor hunting). Theres gonna be a computer there, that is blocked, one of the options is gonna give you three math problems (easy ones) and you have to input those glyphs

you need to unlock the glyphs I think, for that you need to finish the main mission if im right

The main way solars beat out other ships is how stupidly efficient they are with pulsing, as well as having free auto-charging for launch systems right at the start

I custom built my own solar ship about a month or two ago, and while i tend to use my corvettes most of the time, I havent charged the solar ship since then and its pulse drive is on 99%

They can reach a high speed, but how that relates to maneuverability is hard to figure out. My solar seems to approach speeds similar to my more optimized corvette while lower stats overall

What is the strat for building your own ship btw?

Never really found a way to get ship parts

Keep watch for ship parts of the type you want to construct, you can only claim one per scrapped ship

Ideally, watch for them in 1 star economy systems, as ship class means nothing when youre getting a construction part

Sorta, but not in an easily usable way

Each shyp type has 3 parts for construction, and each part has main variations that also come with several sub-variations

If you mean when building normal ships, you can color them whatever you want to. But you only get one chance to do it. So choose carefully.

Okay pirate systems are supposed to have multiple solar types right?

I had a hate and love with mine, the solar animation keeps getting bugged like a lot.
The sound happens normally but the actual solar panel or whatever that is called, is never deployed so it is nothing but a normal ship.
I always used tech to enable auto stuff into my ships, the solar panels bugging out is the main reason I stopped using solar ships even if they are cool asf

The vesper sails work as tech regardless of animation, and they do more than just the charging

The animation breaking is quite annoying though, especially since animated transformation type stuff is one of my favorite things

They're good stats but definitely could be pushed further, I just built an S solar currently sitting at 2k mobility

What do your slots look like?

Past mobility your hyperdrive looks good, mine is at like 1300 but either way solars arent the greatest for jump range, just use a freighter

Then shield strength isn't bad but I think could get a little higher, depends on slots though

Yeah you can only use 3 upgrades at a time per module

Big thing I'd recommend if you want mobility is move the weapon upgrades out of your supercharge slots and dedicate all of it to pulse

Also Vesper Sails get adjacent bonus with pulse engine so be sure to move them together

Past that it is just general slot optimization, there's commands in the bot channel for layout recommendations

btw, anyone here can recommend a save editor for PC, I did read that ship collectors use them to “extract” the seed of a ship you own and you can import it later, so you can own more than 30 starships. I only got a living ship coz I saw legacy ships going brrr with their techs which is a whole different story.

As for the living frigate, assuming you already got the first free one, scan the Anomaly Detector and ignore all the "rare encounter" messages.
One took me 4 minutes doing pulse drive, the other was already at 13 minutes and nothing, somebody said that it can take up to 20min pulse drive for the whalesong message to show up.
Remember, it is only one per system.

Little tip for squids. Exotics spawns are around 1/301 ships. 1/20 systems that exotic is replaced with a squid, so it’s a squid 1 in every 20 systems👀

If you really want to you can just keep switching and waiting till an exotic(ball cockpit/squid) spawns. Put down a base and 9 landing pads by a trading post and it goes way faster lmao

Sentinel farming is a worm hole and half, this was mine and I could never find anything nicer than it.
Way too many animations, the back/engine look bad, too flat at the back, or all together.
The wing lower down but it is a very fast animation you don't even "notice it", I ended abandoning trying to replace it and upgraded it to class-s

Yeah it can be a pain to get a good one. There's a couple things you can do to increase the chance but its still not high

.. I realised lots of stuffs whilst in expedition. You can literally jump one time anyware in the galaxy with a freighter (unless I'm wrong)

Not sure what this is referencing, freighter can have a larger range, only tech that would allow this travel would be the singularity engine which acts as a portable black hole when used, this tech was unique to expedition 8

Well the Singularity Engine just enables a dialogue option with the captain, it doesn't affect the warp map/distance in any way

But with freighters you are able to warp as many times as you have fueled them for, similar to starships but their upgrades go nuts

Singularity engine wouldn’t allow that, sounds like you just took advantage of the larger warp distance.

Yes, you can install technology blueprints and upgrade modules in freighter technology slots that improve them considerably, they're much more important than a freighter's class

Most upgrades just increase warp range or some aspect of fleet coordination, but the Matter Beam, Exocraft Orbital Materializer etc are also really good to have

You can't increase the class of an existing freighter though, but you're able to transfer nearly everything from your previous freighter to your next one

My advice, if you prioritize class before looks is to visit pirate controlled systems and capture dreadnoughts until you'll roll S one.

If just looking for an S class and no particular look you might be able to find one hanging around in a system somewhere available for hire but the dreads are mainly encountered from the pirate event.

You will not get the vesper sails as packaged technology, but you will be allowed to choose between sails, wings and fuselage to extract for your own to build

Yeah just find a pirate system near you and just stay around it, play consistently for three hours, warp into it (if u have a corvette you can scan it before fighting it) beat it, take the money, destroy it leave the system, repeat

Pirate Dreadnoughts can be encountered in non-outlaw systems, with a higher chance of their events instead of regular rescue events the higher the conflict is

Also it would probably be faster to warp between multiple outlaw systems until you find one of those systems that ignore the freighter event cooldown and always initiates a pirate dreadnought event every time that it is warped to, which is 20% of all outlaw systems

Huh. Did the old starter Rasamama S36 just get changed up on all saves when Atlas Rises came out, or is it some weird case where it's present on old saves but doesn't have a seed or something that makes it recoverable via save editing?

I believe it's still present on those old saves fully, but with a secondary color as those were added in Atlas Rises or something

I've seen many take saves from 1.00 and upgrade them to modern versions and it works

You would be better off using the Starship Fabricator to build your own, as then you can specify both colors to be red like how it displayed originally

I used a guide to get s-class Interceptor, turned Multiplayer off, reached the site, but shortly after my arrival, the wreck just... takes off. It's still even marked as site while flying away.
What's going on?
