So can anyone confirm that restore points no longer allow you to farm for S Class Dreadnaughts? I went to the space station to create a restore point, best it, saw it was C Class, then restored and it was not there

I was able to farm the pirate dreadnought battle, but I did it in a slightly different way. I reloaded the autosave that was created right after warping into the system

Creating a restore point after the event starts will not let you farm the event

You have to load to a save before the warp

Restore points are only created when exiting your ship, besides in unowned freighters like pirate dreadnaughts you make surrender

Autosave could trigger after the battle ends, but if you have a restore point before the battle too then no harm in using the autosave if it loads right into the battle, though I've never done it that way personally

So far it has worked well. If you stop to message on discord then it may save again after battle but most times it doesn’t and also keep your relationship points and any rewards earned from each battle with auto save. In 5 attempts I made 2 levels in Gek relationship and ~2.5k nanites. Worst case if it does save after battle I just warp back and forth between the two pirate systems I have next to eachother.

Also autosave doesn’t take you to main menu like the other one does

Update: it does save no matter what but if you go into auto save and there is no battle, leave system and come back and it has been there again every single time

Restore point doesn't do that, you're thinking of when you do so while in a group which does that for both

Loading either save just loads it, unless you're in a group in which it'll back you out and prompt you to do so outside of a group

Yeah, I never thought it would save the fact a battle was starting, since normally nothing about NPC freighters is saved

Normally there's a 3 hour gameplay time + 5 warp cooldown on freighter battles, once both are met then your next valid warp is a freighter battle

Some rare systems ignore that and just always spawn a pirate dreadnaught battle on warp, regardless of that

I’m also not reloading the save from another system. When I reload it I am literally next to the battle so there is no cooldowns. It bugged once and didn’t show so I found another and it works there too and so far this one has lasted me tons of attempts

Also, Freighter Class only affects warp range, fleet coordination and max inventory upgradeability

The only actual benefit of the much larger Capital freighters is the starting inventory size being larger

You can just summon it to you, given it can access the star system class you are in

Depends what stat, certain ships better at certain things

All of them have good reasons/stats that they specialize in (except shuttles)
Fighters have the highest damage and very high maneuverability
Explorers have the highest hyperdrive range and halved launch costs
Haulers have the highest shield strength and cargo capacity but have low maneuverability and high price
Solar ships have very high maneuverability, damage, and a special bit of tech that improves pulse engine fuel usage and launch fuel recharging
Exotics have high stats in all departments, but are otherwise pretty basic
Sentinel ships have high damage, medium maneuverability and can hover in place and go twice as fast in-atmosphere

Personally I’d say fighters / sentinels - but it also depends on upgrades etc, I’ve seen some people turn explorer ships into some killer gunships

Though know that upgrades for any ship are like 10x more important than how a ship starts out, an unupgraded fighter will never come close in damage to an upgraded shuttle, but an upgraded fighter will very greatly outperform an upgraded shuttle in it's own aspects

You can buy upgrade modules from space station tech vendors on the upper level, and install 3 of each type, plus any blueprint tech you can install which doesn't count towards that 3 limit

Each space station will offer upgrades at different classes, and it's random, unrelated to system economy tier

#bot-spam should have a freighter FAQ but I believe you just keep jumping systems until you find one you like. From there, if you want, I think there's also a cheese method to reroll class

If you mean layouts as in the freighter shape or model each type is found different ways. If you mean like the internal layout of the rooms where you can go into, that is made all on your own and you use the research section of the freighter upgrade terminal to unlock those room types or the building research machine to research any normal base structures you are able to use in the freighter.

The landing pads and main console room are unchangeable but the designated build area is all fully customizable within its boundaries.

If you are talking about the layout of the inventory slots and the supercharged ones then you just have to farm that specific freighter you want until you find one with the slot placements and class rarity you want.

You weren’t very clear to me or the others it seems so that’s all the ideas I could come up with.

catch them when they're attacking another freighter, take out their engines at the back so they cant warp to escape, then fly around and take out their anti freighter turrets, that'll make em surrender, then board and talk to captain

You can destroy all the parts you mentioned of the pirate dreadnaught with the civilian ships in one piece and get any reward you choose. I never let the civilians die once when grinding my S class Dreadnaught and I had all options everytime

Well I must be doing something wrong, because nothing has ever happened when I try to take out the engines.

The ones at the bottom back of the ship? There is 4 all there next to eachother

Destroying them makes it so the dreadnaught can’t warp away

If you don’t do that then when you destroy all the anti-freighter cannons, it will run

Warp drive engines > Anti-freighter cannons > claim your prize

Bonus prize for saving civilian ship from destruction: Some units and ~6 standing points

It just occurred to me that I have hold to lock onto target turned on... That may be a contributing factor as to why I seem to be unable to take out the engines. It makes maneuvering to take out the cannons rather difficult. I'm going to turn that off and see how the next one goes.

And just in case you don’t, I recommend getting the Infraknife weapon and decking it out with all upgrades possible and don’t forget it’s B class Q Resonator module. That thing is the only weapon you’ll ever need for anything

You’ll save a lot more time ignoring the shield and the anti-starship cannons. Only go for warp drive engines and then anti freighter cannons

Though it’s not an activity for everyone, you might consider building your own ships by scrapping parts from either crashed ships, or bought from npc’s then scrapped. It’ll likely end up costing you more in units and nanites, but it’s another way to collect starships.

Is there a trick to the pirate freighter encounters? I've had 3 and they always blow up the opposing friendly freighter before I can do the 4 trench runs and destroy the hyperdrive on them

I'm not sure besides chasing and destroying the torpedos if you aren't fast enough with the trench runs. I've always been able to disable them without caring abt the torpedos before the civilian freighter reaches 60 or 70%

You're intended to go after the torpedos since they cause colossal amounts of damage, also the anti-freighter cannons

Destroying all of the anti-freighter cannons also makes the pirate dreadnaught surrender, as opposed to nearly obliterating it (still requires hyperdrive destruction)

You can trade the ship to an NPC and have another player buy it at best, that wipes it's inventory but it still functions as the ship

The Anomaly is made to be as safe as possible, especially from funky stuff like that. There's no fall damage due to it being a Space Station, and loading any save within it will place you safely beside your ship

Pirate Dreadnaught encounters will continue to be able to occur after you own one. There's nothing that stops them from happening besides not owning a freighter/being too early for any freighter rescue events to occur, the 3 hour unpaused gameplay time + 5 warp cooldown for most freighter rescue events (some systems spawn a Pirate Dreadnaught encounter every time you warp to them, ignoring the cooldown)

it doesn't matter much, you can even exchange ships with an NPC and recruit them. They will fly the ship you gave them, but even if said ship has e.g. infra-knife the NPC will not use it. NPC on their own can't really stand to the player so they wont do much in combat other then maybe be a source of shields recharge if you shoot them with phaser beam, they can also take some shots instead of you or deal a bit of damage to keep enemy's shield from recharging, but again, nothing compered to what the player can do

Tho by exchanging you can make a custom squadron, it might not work with fabricated ships but Sentinel Interceptor squadron is a possibility

Sometimes simplicity is better. My bulky ship is my Glas Soul with retractable wings but my Aeron-£ is what I enjoy flying. Just a small simple black ship

Here is my Glass Soul. I didn't realise at the time the wings opened out until the warp sequence which showed the wings retracted. On the planet I found it I have a base (well I wouldn't exactly call it one, a deep water chamber with micro Stargate, a biofuel reactor, and a base computer only) right next to the harmonic camp. I also have a save beaken at the sentinel pillar I found purely from exploring. So that planet I use to farm both ships and radiant shards/mirrors/echo locators. The planet is a nest planet so full of worm burrows so I do my farming in a roamer

Really specific but has anyone seen any Sentinel ships with this shape or similar? I don't wanna spend hours farming them if the odds are incredibly low or they don't exist (I don't think you can custom make sentinel ships?)

I don't think any of the other types have this style either, but I'm not that familiar with the ship spawning rules

And you are correct, Sentinel Interceptors aren't compatible with Starship Fabrication

none of the actual peices determine the class it’s the reactor. go to the starship tech merchant in a space station and buy an “s class reactor” then whatever ship you build with it will be S class

Yer i dont think it is, the blue fan wing I linked is an original, Like i said in help, basically when a ship is fabricated, a placeholder hauler ship is pulled, from somewhere, not sure if its from that system, and the skin is like transmogged/placed on top

The underlying seed is only based on the parts, reactor and station, it doesn't care if the ship the seed generates underlyingly matches the wing inventory it seems yeah

Hi there, to make it simple, I am very very very motivated to get a Pirate Dreadnaught Class S. So no problem if I have to retry to retry the Dreadnaught encounter 20 or 50 times. BUT I want to be sure I do the right things, so that I do have a chance to get a Class S. I am asking cause, I am currently doing the "farm" in a pirate System, and after 15 tries, each time I enter the dreadnaught, and scan it I see something like C27/14 or C32/18, etc... Am I correct that it means it is a class C? Cause after 15 tries, I only found class C. Not even a class A or Class B. Am I doing right? Should I do it in a 3star economy? I am asking cause I saw alsewhere that in 3 start economy, there is a 2% chance, and in pirate systems 5%.

There are dozens of instances of the Space Anomaly at any given time, so we would have a very low likelihood of being in the same one without joining each other directly (since the anomaly caps at 24 players or so)

Tried a few more hauler wings in creative, still nothing. It's just, it worked for explorers, so I thought that's how it worked for all ships that are fabricated. But it looks like fabricating a hauler is different

Yo! To find an S freighter easily there seems to be a strat that needs you to play for 3 hours, or theres a strat where you find a freighter in a systems trade fleet, then pulse away and wait for it to respawn. Which method is the best?

These are both the same method only difference is that the 3h one allows for a few different types of freighters due to it triggering a pirate defense event

These different freighters re unique to these events and are called capital freighters

And are much bigger

And then there is a special event which aswell requires 3h to trigger and you gotta warp into a pirate system to get a special capital freighter

But prepare well for that event

Due to it being rather difficult if you don't have excessive firepower by minmaxxing your guns
