Only time you can choose colour is if you fabricate one, but you can only do that with fighters, explorers, haulers and solars

Some older pictures sentinel ships may look purple, but it was supposed to be black, and has now been fixed so they are black

Yer the only thing that will change on it will the purple tinge will be gone and it will just be black with possible orange bits.

Again space colours can influence what the colours look like, but thats why I take some pics on my freighter with modded white light

I do remember someone having a similar thing and instead of orange tips, they turned out to be yellow

I stated that already. "Purple" ships were always meant to be black, just the same way liquorice is black, but has a purple tinge under bright light. HG just fixed or improved the black. Some "blacks" also used to have a green tinge under bright lights, and these were also fixed

You have to go to that specific system and yes, the alternative for you is just to search VyKeen Systems and see if any ships come in with the wings you like

There are no non fabricated Black Solar ships. The nearest is a Dark Grey. Only Fabricated Solar Ships can be black and that needs an ex-expedition paint unlocked.

I have a question about squid ships. Are the tips of their tentacles always the same color? Like I keep seeing ones with blue/purple tips, but is that the only options?. Can I get a purple ship with green tips for example?

depends on ship you looking for, Ships Not Sentinel Interceptors can be found at any Trade Outposts or Space Station. Sentinel Interceptors can be found at Crashsites. I saw a red and black interceptor up in the chat. One I want to go get but wasn't sure exactly where it was or what planet it's on

There are 21 ship designs in a system. so to get a particular ship, you have to go to that specific system to get it. Each system has a portal address that is in the bottom left of most pictures. To get to that system, you have to unlock portal glyphs (symbols), then put the address into the portal and it will transport you to that particular system as long as its in the same galaxy.

Then its just a case of finding a sentinel crash site via the methods in !faq-Interceptor

There is also only 1 design of Sentinel Interceptor to a system, so if there is more than 1 dissonant planet in the system, it can be found on either

Some people call them sentinel ships, some people just call them interceptors, Im used to callling them sentinel Interceptors, as that is what I label them when I post them, so people can search the channel for sentinel or interceptor and find my posts

Basically to find a crash site, you can either

1. Kill 5 waves of ground based purple sentinels and it will ping you a ship location.
2. Kill 5 waves of Space Ship Sentinels and the Sentinel Capital that spawns. This will drop an ai carrier drop that can be used to pin point a crash site.
3. Find a Harmonic camp, unlock the computer by doing the math puzzle and then Scan for Dissonant signitures

Ive no issue with the questions, that is what this channel is for, asking about ship hunting

You don't, living ships have spewing vents and grafted eyes, they come with those two and those are the only wepons for living ships

Living ships unfortunately don't have that much technology, but they have very distinct look and some players are into it

Living ships are by no means bad

But It all depends on what you want from a ship

Is there a reliable way to find a freighter that is unique or high tier? Is there a way to retain the modules I have in the current slots when changing freighters?

The rank (c-s) is random.
The appearance is system locked.
To get the Sentinel or Star Destroyer Freighters, you need to trigger a freighter defense ( after 3 hours of playtime and make 5 hyperdrive jumps). Higher the economy lvl in the system, the better chance for an S rank freighter.

If you want a Pirate Freighter, you need to follow the steps for a freighter battle, but make sure your last jump is set to put you into a pirate system.
Destroy the engines and then take out the shield generators, when the freighter surrenders, you can board it and go obtain it like a normal Freighter.

All at once? No, If you play 2 hours in one session and 1 hour in another, that all counts. It just needs to be 3 hours of playtime and 5 Hyperdrive jumps, the jumps can be done at any time.

The 5th jump will need to be specific though, your final jump will need to land you in your target system

You can make as many copies as you want from the expedition portal.

Yep. The second one is the copy you made. If you have a freighter, you can pay a few nanites to unlock squadron pilots under fleet management, then sell you extra one to an NPC, then hire them for your squadron. Probably the best use for a copy.

Okay, shiphunters, I'm stumped on this one, help me out:
When I was on beachhead, I warped from R4 to R5 (Gamihar system) in my Starborn Runner clone and landed on the R5 station where I saw THREE red squids within 15 minutes! So I built a base in the system and came back after the expedition and have yet to see one again. I've spent a few hours now at the station and trade posts on 2 different planets.
Any tips on how to get one to spawn again?

It’s a lot faster than sitting and waiting for ships to spawn for ten minutes and then reloading

Suppose depends on how fast your hard drive is, I used to use pulse freighter method

There are glyphs in the picture, You'll need to find a portal (Stargate) and dial the gate to this system. And you'll just need to go find the Dissonance Resonators which are walkers with tall purple tower things on top and they're drilling into the ground. And they will drop mirrors, but they will also drop Echo Locators for you to find a camp to get to a terminal and you'll need to just do the math at the terminal, and once you have done it, you'll be able to be pointed to the ship.

Been doing all that. Reloading saves, flying out to space and back down to the trading post, which is the quickest way to get a new set of incoming ships, but I'm not sure it "sees" the type of ship I'm currently in when I do that. So far nothing.

Here’s what you do:

1. land next to the outpost NOT ON IT
2. Place a save beacon or save point and save
3. When five ships have landed, if not what you want, reload and repeat from step 2
4. Be lucky

It depends on the spawn rate of the ship. Some are much rarer than others and as a result, almost never spawn n the first or second wave. It’s not really buying you anything on those to back out after the first wave.

Yes, there are varieties. Those "blade type" are referred to as Sentinel style, as they are the same as the sentinel dreadnaughts that get summoned (but alas are not capturable) when you tick off the sentinel ships bad enough.

I’m getting really tired of swooping down to look at ships, thinking they may be something I like, and then later finding out that they are a color combo I don’t like. This looked all white when I found it in game, but now looking at a screenshot of it, it looks like it’s light green, orange, and white

R5 station is where I saw the red squid with 2 sets of diagonally adjacent supercharged slots and very good starting inventory (29,27 iirc). 3 of the damned things landed on the station within 15 minutes, but I have yet to see one since I finished the expedition and went back there. So if you can scrounge up the cash while still on the expedition by finding player nip-nip farms, do so.

There be the reason you are having such a tough time. It's in Hilbert galaxy. You'll need to go find a base at the Anomaly transporter that is in Hilbert.

Once there, locate a portal and fire them glyphs up, and you'll be able to locate that ship.

It's a variety of the exotic ship type. Each inhabited system will have 1 exotic in its system pool, and with fewer variations than other ship types you'll likely see a lot of the same kinds the more you explore.

One of the first two systems, starter or R1, has a solar with a wing configuration I've not seen before. I want to go back and nab that also. Lots of solars in the expedition systems.

FINALLY! Flew from my freighter to the R5 station and a red squid landed. Not as good as the ones I saw during the expedition, but a 2 boxer is okay.
Edit: And one with the same supercharged slot layout but more slots unlocked lands a few minute later lol.
Edit 2: And a THIRD one lands! All the same ship with the same supercharged layout, just a different number of slots filled out. After hours of nothing I get a hat trick.

I did a google search for red squid ship and found some old coordinates, but when I went there the exotic that landed was not a red squid, but a short dorsal fin royal ball, visually like the one at the beginning of Beachhead Redux but with far worse supercharge layout.
So ya'll think maybe when Worlds came out, it may have scrambled exotics for systems also.?

Yeah, my first clue things might not be right is that the space station was red in the screenshot but green where I landed. GlaDOS hovering in the back looked identical though. I may try again, worst thing is I warp back to the same system. But right now I'm in a third system at a base at a trading post that everyone has flagged "red squid here", so I know this is the right spot.

If you come across any sentinel ships that have a narrow front as well as folding wings, I’d love one of those. No wings except the folding wing and central module part. Basically a bug type sentinel ship, as well as the folding wings.

The only ships I’ve found with the glowing tip and folding wings have clashing colors

As I keep saying to you squids and other non expedition reward ships cannot be traded. The only way for you to get one is sit at a trade outpost or station, find a crashed squid or maybe the delivery bot can give you one, but I've no clue as I've never used it.

If we are nit picking, the traditional method to trade a ship would still allow a ship to be transferred from one player to another however the ship itself wouldn’t remain the same design and colour but still the same type.

If any ship were to be impacted the least from this change it would be a squid.

You’ll want to wait for both players to resync, when you exchange a ship for an NPC ship or crashed ship it will cause a desync, the game should resync after a short time, once back the ship should be there just not the same design or colour.

Use of ships with technology not normally available on the traded ships type can result in unwanted results.
• lastly a crashed ship location to do this, it can any crash ship location except sunken or occupied by an NPC

————SHIP TRADING GUIDE————

Step 1: Player 2 creates a lobby and waits at a un claimed crash site with the reskin ship, Player 1 Joins the session, then lands at the crash site where Player 2 is located.

Step 2: Player 1 swaps the trade ship with the crashed ship, both players will temporarily desync, it will say that everyone has left the system on both ends, wait until both players return then move to the next step, if players fail to return or continue to get a message saying the player has left and entered the system restart from Step 1.

Step 3: Player 1 swaps the crashed ship for the trade ship. The trade ship will now be back in player 1's possession, players will desync after the swap, wait until both players sync. Once resynced Player 2 will confirm that the trade ship is the correct model, if it is not restart from Step 1. if failure to sync restart from Step 1.

Step 4: Player 2 will stand next to the trade ship, Player 1 will travel 600u distance or more from Player 2

Step 5: Player 1 will summon with the quick menu the trade ship, Player 2 should be able to enter the trade ship, if unable to enter the ship follow Step 6.

Step 5.5: if able to enter Player 2 will enter the trade ship and exit to create a restore point, from this point the transfer is complete, no player should re enter the reskin ship.

Step 6: Player 2 will leave the group via Settings > Network > Leave group, they will then enter the reskin ship and exit to create a restore point, Player 2 will reload that restore point, the ship should now allow Player 2 to enter it, if Unable or if ship is no longer there, restart at Step 1

The design is system based.
The higher the economy for the system, the higher chance of an S rank freighter.

If you enter a system with a Freighter defense battle, if it is the design you like, land at the space station and exit your ship to create a restore point, then go save the freighter.
Once you board it, use your visor to check it's rank.
If it's not the rank you want, reload your restore point you just made.

If you're hunting for an interceptor a precise location is less important unless you're going for a specific class or SC layout.

Each dissonant system will only have 1 interceptor design, so can find a harmonic camp and get a crash site location from it.

On the dissonant planets you'll come across groups of corrupted sentinels around a drill. You can approach it to see what it will drop, and you'll want an Echo Locator. Attacking it will make them go hostile, so be prepared.

Alternatively, you can just attack corrupted sentinels and defeat all waves of them to reveal thenlocation of a harmonic camp. Similar mechanic to how sentinel pillars are revealed after defeating 5 waves of regular sentinels.

Back when I was more active in the trading channel I would buy harmonise brains from other players for Salvaged Frigate Modules

We had no guild envoys so getting decent amount of them wasn't as easy, but after you upgrade everything you don't need them anymore

So I used them to trade

Modules are generated procedurally, they aren't random

So you can open them reload and if you open them again you will get the same stats in the same order

You can use it to you advantage

In this case reloading works more like taking a peak into what you can get and not rerolling stats

up to you what you will do with this ¯_(ツ)_/¯

○ If none are good, reload and open the same number of C modules

If you open 10 X modules and number 4 and 8 are good, then reload and open 3 Cs, 1 X, 3 more Cs and 1 X and you'll have the good X modules only.

That they are all in the same stack is irrelevant. It's just procedural and you use the Cs to eat your bad rolls and only use X on the good ones.

Imagine that there is a list of seeds

Every time you install a modules, any module, game pulls a seed from the top of that list and uses it to generate stats of your module

Then for the next modules it pulls another seedz and another in order

When you reload you rewind the game state back to where it was when you saved, so game will pull the same seeds again

If you save and install 10 infra knife modules and let's say 7th gave you stats you like then you can reload, install whatever 6 trash or packaged modules you want and then 7th as infra-knife, you will get the good stats

Seeds 1 to 6 were trash and were used for trash

7th gave you good results so you used it for infra-knife, but to get to 7th you have to skip trash first

Stacks don't matter, modules themselves don't matter, its just the action of installing a module pulls a seed and that seed determines stats

But the C method is just as valid as using all X modules. The whole point of the progression is that you install a module to move the progression forward. Just with Xs, no reloading required.

Imo you can save something better then money and that's time, you can farm packets faster then specific modules and you cam force packets to drop specific modules

1. Fill you inventory with something and at least one not full stack of the desired module

2. Make sure modules won't go your freighter (package matter beam) or ship (walk out of range)

3. Start opening suspicious packets, bc any other module then modules you want have no place to go the packet wont be used and message "inventory full" if you roll something you don't want. Just keep spamming them untill they drop what you want, modules you want will go to theor stacks. Continue as long as you wish

So they were explaining that if you want to not burn the X class mods, get c class mods of the same mod.

Go through your x mods, note in what order they are, then reload the game. (For example, you open 10 x-class shield mods. Only the second one you open is worth using.)

Now, you open 1 c class mod, then an X-class, then 8 more c class mods.

The X class mod will be the mod you wanted, and the c class mods will eat the rest of the bad rolls
