when hunting for an S class pirate dread, is it sufficient to simply reload the save from when you entered the system? Or do you have to create a restore point in a nearby system instead?

I've been reloading the save upon entering, I've not done it much, while I've seen only c-class, the slots do change.

Not in general, i usually more interested in ship design then post design and glyphs. I only look for A or S class if I want one for myself.

follow up re: freighters, if i do the five jumps but don't have the consecutive playtime hours requirement, will i need to do 5 jumps again? or will it happen as soon as i jump with the hours requirement?

Yes do battle, docking, exiting ship and looking through visor is only way to see class without going to bridge of freighter. I believe you have 3 system freighter encounters now before a capital one spawns. I'm not sure as I use a regular system freighter these days.

Yes 5 jumps after 3 hours unless you can find a pirate spawn like I linked earlier, with a cap freighter, and SAVE the civilian freighter instead of getting the pirate one.

It used to be that always 1st freighter battle was ALWAYS a system freighter. I was told by Bk, that this was changed to 1st 3 freighter battles after dreadnoughts were introduced. Dreadnought battles will not spawn at all unless the player already owns a freighter. The 1st freighter you accept is free, so in theory you can decline the 1st 3 and accept a capital on 4th. I've been out of game 2 months, so not sure if its been changed in that 2 months, as I just came back for update.

that's pretty much although small correction i believe capital freighter triggers on the third, and not 4th?

Either way yea, you need to have those first few events before capital freighters start showing up, and you need to own a freighter before a pirate dread can spawn

I'm not sure what you are asking, it will cost you 8mill, but its a better class with slightly more inventory.

Unless you part exchange your current ship n it will cost you 4.6mill plus current ship

But you could always keep what you have and upgrade it. 99% of nms ships, is do you like how it looks and 1% stats. Most ships upgraded, are similar in spec and capable of doing all content in game.

Higher class means the total upgradable of inventory slots will be higher also

Depends how many inventory slots you put into it. Ship value is all dependent on how many inventory slots it has. So if you check out same ship with less/more slots, it will be different price. A full inventory ship sells for around 120mill, its also why haulers are so more expensive than other ships

thats BASE stats not upgraded

sentinel has poor turning unless boosting and has poor warp bonus, so it starts with 600ly, but exotic and explorers overtake it when upgraded

Upgraded would depend on modules and supercharge layout. That graphic displays base S-class stats. So that is technically upgraded.

Definitely trashes a sentinel on hyperdrive potential. My best sentinels have 1800-1900 no sc slots and high rolled blackmarket upgrades.

Personally I warp via freighter most times due to the scanning room and the capability it brings for identifying planets in system.

Exotics are legit and have their place among the top for sure. Tremendous for exploring. Which is generally NMS focus

And if you don’t have a solid freighter and warp via starship their exploration capability is high (hyperdrive and maneuverability).

NMS isn’t combat heavy. I still prefer sentinel or fighter for slapping things when it’s needed. The 1800 hyperdrive is plenty and they maneuver

Appreciate the discussion and information shared. You make good points. Name of the game is arguably exploring, less combat (although thats improved a lot over the years). The few exotics I have had I swapped for sentinels with superior supercharge slots. I’ll find myself a new exotic and add it to the fleet.

I just enjoy finding exotics, part of that is i fly some of them too. I have posted over 300 exotics here. But for me its about cataloguing them if any1 wants a certain design or colour. Like BK and the others say, a hauler, explorer and shuttle can kill easy enough if upgraded. Personally on ships I dont bother about sc slots at much as Im using best in slot upgrades and im happy to boost multiple systems instead of one. SC slots are more imprtant in multitools though. I also get that alot of people dont sgare my view on sc slots on ships.

Historically for me in games I always reach a point where I want to min max. So sc slots on my ships is one way I work on that. I do the same with multi tools. I like them to look good, match the desired look I go for, and have tremendous functionality. While the difficulty of nms doesn’t require it, my ocd eventually wins out lol. So 4 sc slots very close together is where I end up.

These methods do not work on old gen consoles.

Setting up:

• Meet the time requirement to encounter a freighter rescue battle (3 hours of playtime and 5 ship warps since the last battle). Until then, always exit ship to update restore point slot before ship warping out to another system.

• If using glyphs, reach the target galaxy and portal to your desired system. Then warp out to a nearby uncharted system, drop and claim a base computer.

Doing the above ensures that when the battle triggers in some random system, you can always reload restore point, teleport to claimed base computer, exit ship once more to update restore point and ship warp out to your target glyphs system nearby.

• A freighter battle should trigger and you will fly towards the capital ship. Upon getting close to the freighter, the game will inform you how many attackers (pirates) are present (see image link »). If there are 5, proceed. If there are 8 attackers, the exotic won't always spawn, so it is recommended you try a different system.

• You can reload restore point to search for different exotic designs through many systems, until you find a system that has both 5 attackers and the exotic design you want.

Once you decide that you want to get the current system's exotic, you have two methods you can try:

Method 1:
• Rescue the npc freighter and dock with it. You should see the ships heading towards it as well and the exotic will land shortly thereafter. You can reload restore point and rewarp back into the same system and redo the battle to respawn/reroll exotic stats.

Method 2:
• Note: Only use this method if you're certain that you'll have the units to get the ship, as exiting ship in space station will overwrite restore point save slot, removing the ability to reload to the previous system and redo the battle if you need to for some reason. Exotics go for about 40M units.

• Toggle through the friendly ships to find which one is the exotic. You will have to find the exotic by actually seeing it. (see image link »)

• Kill the pirate the exotic is focused on. Kill each pirate the exotic is focused on. If the exotic doesn't go after another pirate, follow it to the space station.

• Once the exotic is close to the station, land in the station. The exotic may fly a couple rounds around the station. Then whenever the exotic flies in, buy it.

Aside from the ones you get thru the story you’ll have to travel to space stations and find other NPC travelers, and offer them nanites to find the location of their graves. Going to their grave will give you a new glyph. It may be a bit tedious to some, but it’s an absolutely invaluable tool

You don't need to fight waves of sentinels, the Echo Locator can drop from Dissonance Resonators as well

You could scrap it and slap a S class reactor on it to get better stats, but with scrapping you’ll only be able to claim one part of the ship, not all of it. None of the parts are exclusive so you can find other ships like it and scrap those too to recreate it. You’d also be able to change the paint if you so desired

In the bottom left corner of the photo are the Glyph coordinates for the portal (ie planet address for a stargate). These addresses take a player to a particular planet in the CURRENT galaxy the player is in. As the ships are star system specific, other players can get ships for themselves. You craft ship parts by taking them off of existing ships, so you'd have to find a ship with Hardframe E wings, buy it, and scrap it and keep the wings

Non-living ships and freighters require hyperdrive tech upgrades to be able to reach RGB systems. An Indium Drive (Starship) or Temporal Warp Computer (Freighter) will cover all systems, no need for the previous drives to be installed other than a boost to range -- most notable for the Freighter.

The stats and SC slot depend on the parts and station, so you're halfway right

If you make the same ship somewhere else, you get different stats. If you make a ship with great stats and SC layout, I can get the same parts and go to the same station to get the exact same stats and layout

So if you Google around, you can find builds and replicate them using the glyphs they give

Here's a good one for a high base maneuverability and pretty good SC layout I found as an example

Turn on multiplayer then go to the space anomaly

When you get the to the teleport booth go to other bases list and search for bases in those galaxies.

Teleport to Eissentam or Isdoraijung bases.

Find a portal then put in the glyphs for those planets.

You’ll have to wait at trade outpost or the space station but those are the exotics for this start systems.
