using either a cartographer chart to find them or an exocraft scanner on a planet will point you in the direction of one on the planet your on

or you can teleport to peoples bases that they have set up at portals if theres any around

@undone bramble and @inland ingot just keep in mind while both these methods are how you locate a portal they do not directly do so.

Doing either will lead to a monolith, you need interact with that monolith and answer its riddle/question/test correctly, answering it correctly will allow the player to interact with it again to then locate a portal. Depending on the system’s race you will need to use the races unique relic.

Gek = Gek Relic
Vykeen = Vykeen dagger
Korvax = Korvax casing.

i have a euclid system i can hook you up with portal coords to that has a ton of good fighter parts. also if you wanna save on nanites for the reactor you can raid freighters and they'll occasionally drop s class reactor cores

ive been looking at how to get an exotic ship since i havent had luck on this save. A few people mention reloading save at tradepost/station. Does this actually do anything?

It allows you to scout incoming ships in advance while they are in the air

On space stations you are limited to the entrance tunel

Makes it faster to realize there is no exotic in current wave and reload the save to force a new one to spawn

To give you an idea there is 21 NPC ships per system, 1 Exotic, 7 Shuttles, 3 each of Fighter/Hauler/Explorer and +4 by Race. So for a fighter you want Vykeen.

We can’t give you a specific place it spawns Because each system will have a different seed that may or may not feature that specific hull type.

You could utilise posts made from people who share glyphs to systems that have a fighter with this hull type, or just search systems until you get the fighter you want.

You can press left/right and cycle through targeting of nearby vessels. It will show a hologram of the ship you have targeted. Being near a space station, a trade outpost, or colossal archive can be beneficial due to ships constantly spawning and flying around those places.

the space station has ships landing in "waves". if this was a ship that only lands on a later wave, reloading will not be much help imo

if it's not landing one the first or second, i'd suggest going to a planetary trade post / archive, since there's no waves there, youll have better chance

Finding a good color combo is tricky. I find it’s best to try a bunch of different combinations with a bunch of different parts and finding something that speaks to you.

Don’t go in with any actual expectations or specific wants, just blindly choose colors until you find something you like

Right. But then you got the ship hunting stuff going on where it's possible to get colors outside of the builder. Almost seems better to go that route. So far I've not used a glyph to find any of my ships but in the case of this hauler I might. Just cuz I don't really want to spend too much time on it cuz it's just a hauler.

Yeah, you can sell the upgrades you get for a good amount of nanites. Also, if you increase your standing with the race that owns the station, the tech merchants will give you a 50% discount at max standing

Sentinels will also occasionally give you nanites when you kill them. The main reason I’m recommending sentinel hunting is because it doesn’t cost units like buying tech packets and selling back the upgrades and isn’t as mind numbing as curious deposit farming.

Also, sentinel interceptors will occasionally drop Hylaine Brains which can be refined to like 1k nanites a piece

Beautiful black and white Sentinel Interceptor in Eissentam with black wings that fold into an X, plus black and white flat wings and a white body besides the cockpit. SC slots could be better, but I still get a maneuverability of 2200 out of it with mostly S class upgrades

I was using a more tanky all-white Interceptor as my main for a really long time, but this one is probably gonna be my go-to ship from here on out

That’s an expedition reward, it is impossible to obtain in vanilla without trading or completing the expedition

Fortunately, that expedition is probably going to have a rerun at the end of this year

So if you do that, you can grab that ship. You can also trade it with another player via an NPC, but that can be a bit janky

You can just depends on a few factors.

The model of an interceptor will be the same for that system, but class, stats and initial SC slots are dependent on crash site.

So the answer is possibly, class chance is dependent and n system economy, for S class, economy tier 1 is something like 0.01%, tier 2 is 1%, tier 3 is 2% and outlaw is 5%

You need those mats to fix the ship anyways and it contributes to helping find the ships

Non corrupted sentinels are kinda bland to fight and walkers were a disappointment. For being a "stage 5 enemy" they pretty much just stand there and get blasted
