You feed it to an algorithm to produce fighters, you get a fighter. You feed it to an alg for explorers, you get an explorer. And so on

That's why the 1st pane of this page has the option to select what type of starship you're interested in

Usually you portal or warp there.

Well, when you get a battle, you warp there, if its not what you want, you reload your save and try a different system until you find what you want

There is no system with a guaranteed s class freighter every time, even the best systems only have a 5% chance of getting s class

People literally spend hours reloading there games to get an s class freighter

Unless you are going to find one on nmsce.com then only real option is to warp and find the model you want. I personally don't keep track of freighters and portal addresses, I can't speak for any1 else.

Every system has a "chance" of spawning an S Class freighter, its just quite a low chance.

Not sure what you're asking exactly, but unless you interacted with and bought the shop you're looking for there's 0 chance the spawn is gone, so save reloading should work for getting it.

For vanilla players the seed info is useless, you can use it in mods or with save editor

Possibly can on xbox, you can transfer save via cloud to pc version and alter. As a ps5 user myself, there is no way to get saves of the console unless you play the ps4 version. Its 1 of reasons I bought steam version whilst it was on sale. Whilst also already having the ps5/ps4 version.

To get a specific living ship:

1. Activate the mission (Get caught by the living ship) before entering the portal. DO NOT go to the location it says instead visit the portal
2. Go within 400u of the location of the desired ship.
3. Make a save in case something breaks or the ship gets bored and flies off.
4. In the mission log select the starbirth mission and press the button to restart it in the current system. (This is why you activate it before entering the portal)

If the ship is a regular ship when it is meant to be a living ship reload the save you made in step 3.
The problem is that most living ship locations do not include their coordinates.

an S class probably won't fly in straight away unless you're incredibly lucky, if that's the issue here,
you need to wait around for the S to spawn and that could take a while as it will spawn ships in every class with S being rarer obviously

They come from as bad as C class to better than S class

But even at better at S class, the damage bonuses can be like couple % points

Most exotics are rare spawns even where they're known to show up. Many players hit them on numbers alone. First wave ships however, are almost always quick pick ups.

I need to think about gearing some of these ships, the handling is appalling without any mods

I don't really find myself in the position to hunt exotics that way, because of how I play NMS..... I start and delete new PD games over and over. I do some kind of challenge, then when I meet it, I go back and check the ships in any systems I discovered, which is usually between 2 and 5 or 6.

I have freighter battles when I jump the core, but they are almost always already discovered.

@cerulean skyfound something very useful this time; on the 2nd planet, look for the dark trenches, and if you have enough launch fuel, land and scan all the rocks in the trench, then shoot them with your ship. the secondary mat on the rocks is chromatic metal. I collected 3k units

In general yes as more ships land, I usually jump in system, call freighter in, scan planets with freighter, go to space station, check multi tool box, reload and check for 1st to 5 wave exotic spawns then go to trade centre

When you reload a save, sometimes exotics always come in 1st 5 waves of ships, a wave being a group docking then undocking

But if you just looking for ships in general, then go trade centre straight away

Exotics can still be seen at trade centres, I just check at stations for early wave spawns, but they are rare

And my no.1 advice is take screenshots with portal address of ships you like look of, but not necessarily get straight away. You never know when you might want to go back and get it, even 2 yrs later
