activate the egg far far far away, then go to where it directs you to obtain the living ship, land, but don't interact. Then portal to where you want the specific ship, go there, you will see a regualr ship, land, go into Log, hit Reset, it will switch to living ship

triggering additional encounters shouldn't be prevented by having those resources in inventory - eggs in diff act states, organs, yep, i would agree. i would suggest trying to warp out an uncharted system, and moving the egg from one slot in exosuit inv to another, then pulse until hailed

some of the X modules are not even max with that build so its entirely possible to get a bit higher.

How does one "reroll" ships for a different class?

go to a trading post on a planet in the system that has the ship you want, park your ship on the ground nearby and go up to the trade post and make a save with a save beacon, then just wait for ships to come in, if your desired ship/class doesn't come in then you can reload the save to force a new set of ships to come in, repeat until you've got what you want
you don't even to have to reload, you can just camp out there and wait for ships to arrive naturally but reloading can speed up the process

To answer this (again) :

If you really like the looks of a ship and don't want to camp the station or trading outpost for a higher rank to stop by - it's def. worth picking up!
You can always upgrade your dream ship with nanites down the road and get it to S-class eventually.

It's easier to reload and kill 5 pirates, land on the freighter and pull out your scanner tho... than waiting potentially 10-20 minutes for that one ship to maybe come back to the station and have a higher class roll

I just grinded my 5 organic frigates after getting 3 scanners and 3 frigates only to lose them to a bug

didn't realize you couldn't do them all in one sector

To each their own, but I am partial to System freighters. When I started, all I saw in posts were about Capital, so I did the grind. Not many hardly ever show off the cool system freighters.
