In terms of getting an s class freighter for free, I know about the 5 warps. But how can I do it so I can land and then check on the 5th warp to see if its an s class and then reload? I cannot figure out the save system on this game at all. The save points on land or with beacons always seem to be overwritten when I get out of my ship, then on other occasions I will reload and then will be saves from different times.

It doesn't auto save when you get out on a freighter rescue freighter, so you can use the restore point to reload

Assuming you aren't trying for a specific color, the capitals only have 2 versions with 3 sizes each. Make a save before each warp, and when you have a battle - if it isn't the model you want, reload the save from before the warp and pick a different system. It won't be that long before you hit on the size and model you want.

Lots of neat reds and greens today, but I still can't find any blues...

i call this the "twitch special" a starter ship on steroids.
i decided to start a new permadeath save and play along as normal up until i get access to the anomaly.
i then scrapped 12 free twitch ships + the golden vector, carefully selecting pieces of tech from each.
put 12 slot upgrades and the tech that i saved on the speeder then sold the ship scrap and the leftover upgrades.
when i first reached the anomaly i had around 1mil units and 500 nanites

apart from the bobleheads and trails everything installed on that is from free ships, either from scrapping for mods or repacking preinstalled tech

When you do find a portal, make sure to drop a base computer at it. Saves you having to search different ones. Though you will need to find a new portal if you enter a new galaxy.

Each system will have a single style of exotic, and you can find them at stations and outpost, they can even be seen sometimes flying overhead.

That's what I go off of, and if you find a ship you like you can get upgrades for your ships to make them fairly maneuverable regardless of what you start off of.

If you're looking for that and combat then look for fighters as they have stats focused on that.

@winter obsidian you can go to the cartographer in a space station and buy some charts (forgor which one, but it’s the same one that shows you alien structures like knowledge stones) and hope you find a portal

For many portals across galaxies the nomad and freighter exocraft module is a must -- Summon your freighter to the system, summon nomad find structure.

Also additionally the goods you need to find the portal can be bought at trade stations from the incoming pilots

I was actually doing the starbirth mission. Kept base portal traveling to other systems I visited and to other people's bases from the anomaly and reloading my save when the ship I saw wasn't what I was looking for. You can use photo mode to look at the living ship without landing so that it doesn't overwrite your manual save

This is at the point when you get the frequency where you can accept to hatch the egg or not

I accidentally wrote over my manual save when I landed thinking a ship I saw was what I was looking for so... guess I'll just have to do another living ship hunt later. Good thing I have another void egg someone randomly gave me

That is a system freighter, so just random when/if you see one. Pulse around in inhabited systems and check out the fleets that warp in, you can buy any freighter you can dock with

What I want to know is if all freighters have the same amount of customisation space for you to build in?

If i am not wrong, the ships are generated with the planet, it's like a minecraft seed, the content of the world ( like mineshaft and things ) won't change

It depends. Theres a small chance the ships changed because when they added solar ships it had a slight influence on some system ship pools.

Each system has model signed by seed. The capital freighters have only 2 models but they can vary in size

So each of those glyphs I just portal to and head straight to the space station. I know in the game I got a bunch just by warping and only met about 3-4 of those hollow travelers

It's super rng, yes. It took me 28 warps to find 2 travelers on my permadeath save where I tried to get to the core/center asap.

On my new regular survival save my first two systems both had travelers spawned

You mean the Golden Vector? That was a reward in the first expedition to come out, Pioneers -- which makes it a cross-save reward for players who completed the expedition / earned the ship and they may be willing to "trade" it with other players. Oh, as long as you save in SS before killing the pirates, you can reroll by reloading that Restore Point - the pirates will not spawn in, but rerolling still works.

Yes you can. Once you click on the colors it will automatically change the glyphs and seed displayed. The color preview on the model itself isn't finished but that shouldn't matter as you know what colors you selected

S class freighters are in every system you just have to find the freighter you like and keep reloading over and over and over until it becomes a S class it took me around 70 reloads to get mine

T1 is basically 0% chance at the low end, outlaw systems are the highest at 5%.

When trying to get a specific solar to spawn in an outlaw system, is the station or a trade outpost better?

Trying to locate a solar I found on the exchange. But so far got three solar types that don't exactly match the picture. (Two are the wrong sails, the third rarer one is the right sail but the body type doesn't match).

Outpost is always better unless you are dealing with a legitimate "first wave" ship (that's one the spawns within the first few ships after every reload on the station)

Ok, so I'm beginning to formulate a theory about the freighter situation and Fractal.
It's just a theory at this point but it's got legs.

I've done everything everyone has suggested. And it works, I get all the battles and roll the class of ship etc.
The only problem, and in my case it's a big one, is I am not finding the Venator.?!?
I've gone to practically every system I found on here.. But instead of a Venator I get the Sentinel Dreadnought. Every time.

So my theory is... Maybe in the Fractal update... They left out/removed Venator Freighters??
I see all the others... Many different shapes and sizes too. But no Venator.
Thoughts?

I have noticed that they have not been showing up actually, at all in fact. All battles I have had for capital ships have been sentinal captical ships. I didn't put anything into it as I was wanting to try them out but yea

Ships can spawn in different classes based on system's economy level and you can upgrade the class yourself

As for white ships, it's hard to find a ship that is all white, you always get a secondary color that is some shade

There are also decals which can have other colors

I think DHW found one ship that was closest to white, let me see if I can find it

Worst case restart your game, reload, summon Freighter back in

Normally works just fine by dismissing + reloading + re-summoning :)
