Nah, unless you plan to get into PvP, pretty much everything in NMS can be used for the most frivolous of preferences.

You can fly stupid looking shuttle with no upgrades and a base Positron and survive wave 5 Sentinels in all but Survival difficulty.

Minmaxing a single stat is not a wise choice if one is building for best combat effectiveness. While in PvE yeah, a 134k InfraKnife is fun, in PvP that setup would get shredded. Best build for PvP uses 1 SC slot for base Shield tech, 1 for Maneuvering, 1 for Photon, 1 for Rocket. (2 for Photon also viable)

im no expert, but im pretty sure you can either just warp around galaxies, until you find a freighter that just pops up out of the blue like they always do, board it, and see if its S class. OR you can go onto the nms coordinate exhange and find a nice S class freighter, warp to that system, and fly around until specifically that one pops up i think. because im pretty sure that each star system has exclusively all of its own starships, freighters, frigates, idfk. thats all i know. enjoy

Yes. I loaded these in with a save editor to see how high I could get. But since shields have only one upgrade stat, and the max is 38%, by all means, go for it. But for all other upgrades that don’t have one stat, go S-Class.

Black market upgrades are completely random. Some stats can be better than S while some are worse than C.

@fiery lion All modules are procgen, with guaranteed rolls in a specific sequence, which puts them oceans apart from random. Random means you could do a million rolls and never get a good one, procgen means you're guaranteed the good rolls, the only question being the number of good rolls out of the 100,000 in a given tech's table.\

It's no big deal. It's all trial and error. SC slots add a whole new feel to the game. The layouts that were previously the best aren't anymore. I never even thought of that layout for pulse engine upgrades (btw you have it spot on).

Despite how many people are angry about it, it feels fresh.

I only recently got into the game, so SC slots have been a thing since I picked up the game. Although, I did play the game when it initially came out. It's soooo much better now.

Just as a tip: On exotics, you only want to use supercharged slots for weapons/weapon upgrades and your pulse engine and its upgrades. Shields receive a negligible increase while hyperdrives receive an unneeded increase. In short, don't waste SC slots on shields or your hyperdrive, as that is not needed for PvE or PvP. If you want good hyperdrive range, and want to focus on it, get a good explorer. I was told by someone that I need to reserve an SC slot for shields, but after observing it with and without a SC slot, the shields only gained 10 points, or in this case, only a 2.5% increase. Both weapon DPS and maneuverability can increase exponentially if you use SC slots for them.

Yeah, I don't think I've used any sc slots for shields. It seemed better to try and use that for weapons / increase maneuverability. I haven't messed with any PvP, not sure if I will.

@fringe citrus It was Fighters specifically I advocated 1 SC slot be used for Shield, and stand by it. Maneuverability may get the most appealing numerical boost from SC, but the practical increase in agility is as negligible as the numerical appearance of the Shield boost, lol.

I really wish they made it so the color wave would match (i.e. blue with white) with the color of the husk or at least be restricted to colors that would be more appealing, because no one wants an vomit orange color wave.

And this is unrelated, but I've noticed with exotics that the difference in core damage (even if they're far apart at first), the DPS is only slightly different. That exotic I had earlier had a core damage of 276, and it had 71k on an infra-knife. I decided to get another exotic on the NMSCE subreddit, and got one with 304 core damage. Nearly 30 more. It only had 75k on an infra-knife. Similar SC slot configuration too.

I love save editors, otherwise I would have to put all of that technology back to my other ship. If it didn't archive previous saves I would be in trouble.

@misty jacinth No, when you exchange a ship to NPC, it will default to procgen name, and also the NPC seed is tied to ship seed, so the NPC will default to the one tied to the ship you hand over. The game will not allow you to recruit the same pilot race/seed combo twice, so you can only have 3 identical squadron ships, 1 pilot per race.

If you have all of the glyphs, all you have to do is get the glyphs for wherever the exotic of choice spawns and get to either a trade port or space station, save and reload your restore point. Wait for like 5-10 minutes between reloads that way you can get a solid look at the majority of the ships that spawn in that location.

Nope. other than nmsce.com you have just to search for it. Only trick to search a lot of systems quickly is to manual save before freighter rescue mission warp. And reload and check diffrent system. For crew you want to search in systems that have the same race that your desired crew.

Yeah, some people just snap and run, and living ships appear weird colors under different lighting conditions. I've visited at least a dozen that were supposed to be one color but off planet or during a different time of day they were not as advertised

Make a save before claiming, buy, fly into space, get a good look in camera mode, then keep or reload and try another site

I'll use the same void egg on dozens of ships before settling, I'm picky

Best starting points are likely the exchange sub & website. Most there are likely looking for S-Rank, but chances are you find them at lower ranks as well. Outside of i believe exotics?

Yea, it has like 4 sections with a 18-25 hour waiting time each.

But that's only for the first time you do it.

Afterwards it's basically jump -> coordinates -> done.

This ship is grey and dark chrome. The picture really doesn’t show the true colors of the ship. Also, be advised when going to the planet and trade port for this ship. There are like 3 bases around the trade port that kind of stop the ships from landing at the port pads.
