@green stone You can reload after first (or however many) wave/s, biggest reasons to switch would be if you're in rendering distance of another TP/Archive which is pulling your spawns, or the terrain/weather interferes with your ability to see the ships that aren't landing, or if you just feel tedium and want a change of scenery.

yup! it could take a while (but i hope it doesnt). Not sure if you're new to the game, but FYI if you go to a trading post and land on the ground somewhere instead of landing on one of the pads at the post, then ships will come in waves of 5 instead of 4, which helps speed things up a bit

if you're at a trade station you can watch them with your visor when they go up into space (if you find a C class of a ship you like for example) and then you can watch the sails unfold

And people get higher roles that allow color search by contributing stuff on the server like uploading locations, creatures etc. This way it ensures community activtiy and everyone can benefit. Until Outlaws, crashed Fighters, Haulers, and Explorers were capped at B Class - this is no longer the case, but I've yet to see proper research done on how common A and S Class wrecks of those types are.

In a sample of 205 crash sites on a single planet, I found 4 S Class Shuttle wrecks, which is right on point for the 2% S Class odds in T3 economies like the 1 was in.

Site only helps you to find prefered ship look and where it is. Classes are random so you have to wait on trade center or space station until game gives you one. You can allways upgrade class to S with nanites

Reloading the save at the space station, you should be able to keep re-rolling the class of the freighter. In a Tier 2 or Tier 3 economy you should eventually get an S class. How long it'll take will be up to RNG.

If you're on pc you could try to use a "system time freezer" tool because the RNG for ship class depends on the millisecond of your current system time. So once you find a millisecond that always gives S class you just forece freeze your time to this exact millisecond and everything will be S class

So I found a bug that when you scan your freighter it appears a different rank. It's purely visual other then sometimes making your ships (other then main) leave cause the game thinks its not yours.
But why does the game have to be so cruel about it... I've seen it 4 times now while hunting a different freighter

@wooden flax You shouldnt have lost MT slots. General inventories were collapsed and combined with Cargo, any tech was either packaged and ended up in Cargo, else moved to Tech. We can now expand MTs to 60 slots from 24, all tech inventories minus Exocraft can be pushed to 60, and all Cargo inventories to 90-120 depending on ship type. And with all tech in same place now, no more 6 mods + buildables per tech, only 3+.

Tech has been adjusted to compensate for the loss, including addition of Supercharged slots, so almost all base stats have higher caps than previously, except range. Perfect Explorers now cap around 3500LY down from nearly 3900, and Freighters at 5800LY and change.

I had once found a crashed exotic but despite spending hours later combing the planet I wasn't able to find the crash site again, if you want an exotic then camping out at a trade post will likely be best, then once you see the systems exotic style you can decide if you want it, otherwise you'll need to head to another system

@keen venture When you've got your next freighter rescue lined up, easiest way is to teleport there and then warp to a nearby Uncharted star, because battles don't trigger in those, then warp back.

@keen venture Endurance solved the issue of unpaintable greenish-black freighter metal, but the reason it was unpaintable is because there was no paint applied to it, so anything that spawned with it pre-Endurance will now have a different colour there.

Though discovering a 1st wave system is arguably luckier lol.

'I have a question for anyone who knows the answer. When using someone elses coordinates in the portal to obtain a ship that they posted, what are the odds that ship actually appears? Does that depend on the class. I primarily want a ship for the colors but im having a hard time

@thorn skiff Depends on the type of ship. ~1 in 10 for Shuttles and dominant species favoured type I'd estimate, 1 in 20 for the other race favoured, in a regulated system 1 in 30 for solar, and 1 in 300 for exotic. (Those arent the statistically accurate numbers excepting exotic, just rough estimates based on observation)

It looks like a regular fighter and the color is different. So im wondering if this is just an S class of some sort

@thorn skiff Go find a Trading Post, space stations have less traffic, and if youre reloading youre likely just rotating through the same 7-10 ships and never seeing half the spawn pool

The best thing to do if youre at the space station scouting is to buy 1 of every different model that shows up and scrap it, yes they often respawn and fly back in, but the running back and forth and occluding your sightline to the entrance serves to jostle the game's timed checks on when to spawn ships in and serves to help shuffle what you get to see.

@thorn skiff Yes, when you purchase a ship, regardless of class, its bonus rolls are RNG within its possible ranges, so buy the same model + class 10 times, you get 10 different stat combos. (The ranges arent huge though, so will likely appear as minor variations)

When you upgrade class instead, the rolls arent random, they are locked to seed, so if you upgrade the same model to S Class 10 times, it will have identical stats every time (provided no difference in equipped tech)

Combine that with the fact that those locked rolls are influenced by a seed's base maneuverability stat, and the answer to the question youre really asking is it's better to upgrade high maneuverability seeds to S because their locked rolls will be high as well, and it's better to purchase low maneuverability seeds at S, because RNG is likely to grant them higher rolls than theyd get otherwise.

not necessarily, it's a game of odds. 1-5% chance, 1% 2 star, 2% 3, 5% outlaw (but with low rolls)

@vale lintel The low stat rolls are specific to Freighters in outlaw systems, afaik. I can say for a fact that multitool rolls are RNG, but haven't paid much attention to ships - I would guess those are RNG at purchase the same as anywhere else.
