Not sure if anyone has done this. I just traded my Golden Vector so I could recruit it to my squadron. It worked… I was messing around the station and he flew back in. I talked to him, negotiated for the Golden Vector… It let me claim it for free and it is still in my squadron. 😃

I dont have enough experience to really know but I do know. I sent my frigates on an expedition and one time they came back with aerial dream. I made it and had it on me and ran into a living frigate that I recruited. I didnt have to pay for that one. How to get more or if there are any quests involved with it I am not sure. Sorry I cant be more help.

You don't need it in your inventory to find others, it has zero effect. The Anomaly Detector is a shortcut through the pulse encounter schedule in a given system, but technically speaking, even that isn't required. I discovered a system weeks ago where the living frigate is literally the first encounter in the pulse schedule, you can go there and find it about 15s after you begin pulsing without either item.

Id like to find a spawn for one in primarily Grey. I have searched nearly 50 different pirate stations with nothing coming close to what i want. I havent even seen a Grey solar yet. Both these spawn in space station. The Exotic is FIRST WAVE. Euclid GALAXY. The stubby Fighter is a B class and takes a while to spawn. Like one beer and a smoke and it will be time. Sorry the coordinates are on the fighter only. Didn’t realize I had to be in space for them to show up. Exotic is red and gold.

Just to clarify, you don't need to be in space for glyphs to be visible. You need to enable photo mode to show up the overlay and then make a screenshot using your system / platform screenshot tool or a 3rd party app. If you make screenshots using the in-game photo mode, the glyphs will not be visible.

For capital ships, yes, you need to warp, but for regular system freighters, they happen sometimes while in-system

then a good first start is to keep an eye out for Gek systems (ones with the beak icon when viewing them from the galaxy map), each system has a set number of ships and iirc 4 of them are based on whatever race is the most common, so that means that Gek systems will have 7 different styles of haulers

if you get the conflict scanner (or economy scanner, I forget which), outlaw systems have an incredibly high number of solars to look through as well

and with the economy scanner, from the quick menu, you can use it to scan for trading outpost and if you land there and wait a bit, a rotation of that systems ships will land, so you can hang out there until you've seen enough ships, maybe even one you like, but the tier of the ship will be random

and haulers are expensive, very expensive

that's not bad actually, it'll get you something nice, but since ship cost is heavily influenced by space, and haulers have a lot of space, some C tier ones can be 16mil even

and if you are 'bird watching' for ships, you can use your visor to look at ships to see their tier, their storage, and how much they cost, saving you the time of having to talk to every npc

but also you can find crashed ships, and if you don't mind repairing them you can get even an A tier ship that way, S even but that's very rare

one thing I will add is, once you get to a point in game units won't be much of an issue, don't worry to much about spending a large number for a ship you like, it'll be easy enough to get more in the future in the even you find another ship

yep, you'll need to switch to that ship, I do this on my freighter but you can do this by landing the ship on a planet, then you'll either need to repair it enough to fly or make a portal to go to a station, salvaging crashed ships, especially haulers, can be a decent source of money

So, I'm working on my Living Ship spawning project today, I scouted every crash site on land I could find for a small planet that has at least 33% surface water - the thinking when I started was that with the least possible spawns it'd be easiest to scout every model. (in hindsight, not so much) Anyways, with 60sets of coords recorded, it looks like I may be at 100 total when I'm done. Small planets have a radius of ~65,000u - large planets are ~130,000u. If the total number of crash sites available is directly proportional to total land mass, my original estimates were a tad shy....
These numbers suggest that a large, waterless, non-prime planet should be able to easily spawn 500 different LS designs, possibly as many as 600.

I ended up getting it first wave after I reloaded twice. I wouldnt put it past my luck to roll a 0.5% chance of it not showing up twice in a row. I usually get exactly what everyone wants in a game or even what i want/need before I know it. The second I learn i want it, can easily obtain it, or actively search for it I never see it again.

So i have my capitol ship which has a full base built on it; I got it automatically at the stat of the Polestar expedition, from which I'm now cointinuing in a normal save. I want to get a better class freighter. I tried going into an NPC freighter (the kind that follow me around as I pulse, selling frigates) and talked to the captain, and there was option for me to TRADE my freighter for theirs, but unlike with offering to buy NPCs starships, there was no option to outright BUY it, while keeping ownership of my current one. Is it not possible to own more than one freighter at a time?
I'd rather do it the latter way because my current freighter has so many added components on it, both in tech and in base parts, that i'd have to build over again, which would take a while & probably a bit of travel to get all the mats for. I'd like to have a fully functioning freighter base still, while I work on building up a new one... unless the base parts auto transfer over to the new freighter if I do the exchange? Does that happen?
If we can only one freighter, then what happens to my base, and my frigate fleet, and all my stuff in storages, and all the freighter techs I've unlocked, when I move to the new freighter? Also what if my Frigate fleet was all done with expeditions but still waiting to be debriefed in command rooms & give me their rewards, when I do the exchange?

@winter obsidian I've done it over a half dozen times, the worst was well over 100 reloads across a couple of weeks for my very first when they were new, a month and some ago a player argued with me about my findings regarding being able to land at the space station to circumvent the pirate attack and then reload to reroll, so I re-tested to show they were wrong and my 1st reload pulled an S Class lol.

a lot of C is normal, even more so on outlaw systems - the fact that you had very few B and A seems to point at that as well, because on outlaw systems the chances of S increase while B and A lower dramatically, all in favor of C classes - that, plus the fact that it's known for freighters to spawn with lower prices / slots in outlaw systems may really point at that - but I have no idea if that 180ly range respects the S stats bracket

I switched freighter 4 times on my normal mode. And farmed 5 more on others. All of S class had 180-181 range and 178 mil price. Even if outlaw system has lower spawn rate of B and A but come on, ZERO B class with over 100 rerolls where A should be more rare is suspicious. Its a bug imo

not sure, now that you've confirmed that normal S classes have 180ly, I'm positive that you were in an outlaw system - 85% C, 5% for all B, A and S

totally possible that you rolled a lot of C and almost no B/A/S, and got "lucky" getting an S before getting lots of B / A

It wouldnt surprise me if capital freighters in regulated systems are weighted to high end range bonuses, I know for a fact that S Class multitools in them always roll top tier damage, while in outlaw systems they roll anywhere in their potential range - seems like we may have found the downside to the 250% S Class increase.

Yes 1330 with colors. But the seed also determines the maneuverability and a slight part of damage value plus the ship procedural name. So if you take everything into consideration ...

@coral beacon There should be ~2.2 billion or so potential Solar combinations, but there's less because HG rolled back a fix that allowed all possible combinations of parts and finishes to be rolled. I'd estimate about 20% of the combinations are missing because of that, so ~1.8 billion varations can still be found.

All that tells me is that your active ship at A Class with no Pulse upgrades has 361.3 maneuverability.

all the same system in Budullangr

You may find clusters, but trends? I'd happily give you 50:1 odds betting against your ability to use the information to predict the number of Solars in even half of the outlaw systems in the same area, let alone the models.
