You can edit an egg an infinite number of times before hatching it. Size and stuff like gentle or aggressive has a cap.

Then it might have a low cap if it didn't change. If you put in a growth item it will keep growing and when it hits the cap it doesn't change.

This is the species. Most of them have sails on their back and crocodile heads. The ones with spikes on their backs and t-rex heads are rare

You need to be able to craft creature pellets, I think you get it by doing the main missions, then feed animals with the pellets and tame them, if you want specific pets you'll need glyphs to travel there, you'll see the little glyphs in the corner of the screens, one way to find pets is by googling "nms coordinate exchange fauna euclid"

so say a creature normally has a limit of 10 meters, i feed it stacks of 100 of the monster cakes and it goes WAY past that

usually capping in the 30-40 meter range

that's just a glitch item or something, some icons are usually an item in the game but unobtainable, that is prolly edited in using a save editor or mod, like that is the icon for the worm but when u claim the worm you're supposed to get a pet egg

Without putting anything into it, it says inherited, however I've tried quite a bit of the items that indicate "Decreasing" and each of them are indicating it will be increasing in size.

Because I did some pretty extensive research on this before hand and got several components that should decrease it's size, but everything indicates increase. However, when I switch out the neural components, I do see an increase/decrease fluctuation between the different personality traits.

But on that list I've tried, Condensed carbon, di-hydrogen, tritium, ferrite dust, pure ferrite, cobalt, copper, chromatic metal, paraffinium, pyrite, uranium, dioxite, pugneum, faecium, and rusted metal.

Which is the majority.

I guess I'll spent an hour harvesting the rest and I'll pop back in here with the result.

Aggressive pet gets distracted on attacking local wildlife, 100% gentle pet never does that
Independent pet can run around on sizrable distance from u, devoted pet is always by ur side (the word goes that it needs more headpats, but im not sure)
Helpful pet has more success chance on "get resources" command (100% helpfulness is not 100% success chance tho), playful pet dances more often

I personally prefer gentleness, playfulness and medium independence/devotion ratio

The animal type itself isn't that uncommon. Your color pattern and specific body part arrangements may be quite rare indeed.

Those seem to have less variance than most other species though

there are 3 rarity types, named ingame as common, uncommon and rare. you can see what ur creature belongs to in a planet discovery page. iirc bonecats are "rare"
But actually no genus is REALLY rare if u explore enough planets. what makes a certain creature really rare and noteworthy is some specific combination of features (like that red classic trex a week above, whos been taken by several people here)

so ive found that sometimes rare metals can be the answer to push past the soft cap, normally though its cooking items, the really high grade ones

its quite a lot of work to get them to that size but once its achieved you can always modify the egg from there, it'll keep the size

it changes to increased (sometimes) , ive had to just feed the egg with no increase and my fingers crossed until i saw it going up sometimes

it helps to save so you can reload after you crack the egg to see if any size increase

fair warning creatures this big have an odd....bug

bigger = slower animations, including head turning

so generally their heads get stuck looking one way as you walk around on them

its not so much stuck as turning so slowly you cant see it 😄
