There are 4 slots in the resequencer, size change is the 1st slot

The dye slot is the only one that can affect colour, and the plants do change it - however, not all pets can be dyed

a good amount of hours... it's the game tutorial/main storyline. you'll unlock lots of stuff. I highly recommend you to complete them first

there will be a quest where you'll need to warp to 16 systems, each of them giving 1 of the 16 glyphs

near the end of the questline

or you can find glyphs earlier from traveler tombstones... takes longer imo. warping is easier

As a general rule, the more rare/valuable a material or item is, the less of it you need for a 100% dose in resequencer. And if you're looking to get it to minimum or maximum size, you can keep resequencing the same egg until it tells you that size is inherited, which means you've hit the limit.@paper ermine

actually gentleness is the only important stat in my opinion. aggressive creature just always runs away to assault some wild fauna.
helpfullness is useful only in early game, when u actually use ur pet to dig goods for u

@crimson needle @shut beacon YES! Eggs are not independent items, they're linked to Egg slots on your save just like pets. So let's say Pet 1 lays Egg 1 and you store it, and get rid of Pet 1. A few days later you find a new creature to tame and it becomes Pet 1. You have it lay an egg because you want to resequence it, and you have 17 other eggs stored already. As soon as it lays that egg, the data on Egg 1 in storage is overwritten, so now you have 2 copies of an egg from the new pet. Even worse, as soon as you hatch 1 of them, the egg slot clears its data, so now the stored egg is completely useless.

Actually, I'm not completely sure on that - I havent looked at whether Pet slot and egg slot are locked together, it may be that pet 1 always lays eggs into slot 1, rather than simply taking up the next free slot.

When you hear about dupers giving out glitched eggs, its because they dont understand this - they make a bunch of eggs, and the 1st one they hand out clears the egg data from its slot, so the rest are just empty containers

If you hear of an instance where a player has less eggs than the maximum but is getting this message, it's because they managed to get rid of an egg without it's accompanying data being reset to default state.

I was just gonna say, those textures look... rough. I've seen that long head design before. I've also seen bug heads on them, and attachments that make them look like a parasaur. But overall a longer head is a... generic difference

That's the problem with procedural generation. You're limited by your pool of assets. And it only takes a handful of hours to see all of the generation assets in NMS one way or the other, and a few more hours to see them used all over again

To be fair, it was much worse back in the day. It was the update that actually variated the stuff more that caused me to take a break from the game. Paradise worlds used to be VERY rare. I spent 30 hours finding one, and building a base on it. 2 days later comes a surprise update that redoes all planets, I log in to my planet no longer being a paradise planet and my base so far off the ground I'm basically in orbit. I quit and took over a year to even try to play again after that

Is it possible to dramatically increase the size of your pets or do most people find them in the wild that size? I ask because I recently tamed a tiny little flying beetle and I was wondering if it could eventually get big enough to ride.

Flying beetle may become huge with egg sequencer. Just keep adding 100% growtg again and again until the sequencer stops showing increase

Max size beetles are a bit buggy tho, but if u just want to make it rideable, u dont need to push so far

U can always make a save, go to the sequencer, mess with it, hatch the egg, and if ur not satisfied just reload that save and mess with the sequencer more

From what I understand high flyers are not. Low flyers are. I will test this and confirm it. I'm running without the mod currently for testing stability.

@stoic elbow Last I read, basic mutations were believed to occur sequentially, if true, make a manual save on freighter, then resequence a ready to hatch egg with 100% dose and hatch. If this doesn't give desired result, reload, and resequence with 100% dose twice, then thrice, etc. until you reach a mutation you want.

id recommend to avoid saving on a freighter if possible, bcoz issues with falling through floors into space on load are still present

With this game it's a situation where everything is unique. But also nothing is unique. Procedural generation means what you find may just be the only one quite like that. But it also means there's many other similar ones.

Differing in perhaps only the slightest of ways. Same exact everything but the head is slightly smaller.
