It's more about making that material hit a 100% dose repeatedly until it says size is "inherited".
ie sequence the same egg multiple times.
I just use carbon to increase size, but there's a chart pinned in this channel for other options

i dont have an egg on hand but i can easily make one, its off CD. It wont become dog sized in one generation though, you would likely need to do a few generations in the sequencer while downscaling it to get that size

you can modify the size in predictable ways by using the sequencer in the Space Anomaly. here's some info on materials you can use for it: #nms-fauna message pertaining fur, you may have to find another creature that's got fur already tho. you can probably also find other creatures online that ppl share here or in #explorers-archive, on Reddit, etc. that share coordinates where you can go look for a particular creature you like. or you can get the egg from them too.

if you're on PC, you may also be able to save edit creatures. but you can prob inquire more about that in #nms-modding

also i agree that its weird why the actual Gek do not have gender but the Protogek (as in the fauna variant of Gek) do. maybe the devs did not want the Vy'keen and Gek to have genders to make it easier for the NPC name generation to create the space station NPCs have the right pronouns, or maybe the devs just did not want them to have genders so they would seem more like aliens or something...

Gender is a social construct, not biological, so not sure why they would apply it to fauna except for simplicity maybe? The alien races are generally gender neutral, but some procgen ship names are gendered like mother of the ___ or daughter of the ___. I assume protogek are not literally precursors to gek, just similar evolution routes or whatever. If they were the ancestors of gek, they would be fossils except if separated groups evolved separately… except protogek species are on many different planets. So how useful are real biological concepts in NMS? 😂

the easiest and fastest legit method is to just infintiely farm sentinels

there are certain sentinel units that spawn more infinitely, so you just don't kill those and keep killing the ones it spawns

and you sell the drops for nanites

I don't think so, I had problems with nipnip tho and the other flowers that give pearls and stuff

and u can plant them directly on the ground instead of having a tray like if u want starbramble you can plant it on any lush world
