Ahead of the game as usual
unfair advantage lol
I want the multi-crew ships, ability to build a sailboat and fish w/ friends, Guild Halls, player market, and automate gas / mineral extractor & refinery outputs straight into other refineries 🙂
...and more difficult end-game content???
What do you guys think about the ability to take command of a frigate fleet expedition from the bridge of one of your frigates? Command the Normandy from it's bridge (if you got it from beach-head) and lead your small group of frigates.
PLEASE multi crew ships that you can land on planets and deploy cargo out of too
FUCK YES
agreed w/ all of the above
Small Quality of Life feature request? Allow the game to keep hyperdrive active while Alt-Tabbed on PC
Or give us the option to allow it, please x'D
Also Quality of Life - Auto-stack function across Freighter inventory and Storage Containers in freighter.
Flying Robot animals? Maybe w/ fans kinda like drones?
variable day/night cycles for big sci-fi vibes
and variable night/dusk appearances that don't all blur together as blue (setting aside cheap filter planets)
yeah variable would be preferable, I was trying not to be greedy
Any predictions on what's next ?
Would be great lol
I would love space whales.
Imagine if you could see one from a planet's surface.
OH
That would be cool actually: Seeing events happen in space from a planet's surface.
I hope there are more gameplay changes rather than cosmetic ones
I swear to god if we don’t get an auto sort button for our inventory…
This!!!
Indeed
I need it desperately
maybe a machine that lets you store and showcase companions?
would be nice because there are so many creatures to catch now so 6 slots isnt nearly enough, and would allow you to make zoos perhaps
I thought that’s what the terrarium would be when I saw a blob in it. 😔
That's what i was hoping for too with the fishtank
Wishing that we can populate bases with npcs
And some procedurally generated bases/settlements that can be raided
Count me in on that
Also:
• More starship slots
• Custom Starship colouring
• More exosuit technology slots
• Storage Containers hold more slots
• Storage Containers fit on one floor. (Scale down)
• Build snap toggle for VR with ability to snap things like Storage Containers without wall overlaps.
• A Nautilon that doesn't take forever to go a short distance.
• A better Nautilon in general seriously wtf is this camera
Visibility is also ash.
Hmmm... I'm getting an error telling me limited to 8 per base...
noooooooooo!
That must be new
Supernovas in no mans sky. That would be the cherry on top with the new night skies
Longer bytebeat compositions please
🤔
This may be a difficult task to achieve...but how about wrecked planets in some systems?
For some sort of cataclysm that made the planet break into pieces. As for how it would work, I'm not exactly sure. You probably shouldn't be able to land on them, but who knows 😆
Well the no mans sky engine isnt fully utilized, there are so many things it is capable of, im sure that’s possible in the future given the hardware optimizations to run it
I wish we could register more stuff. like the aliens we encounter (the sapient ones), non scanable creatures (like sandworms, could be registered somewhere else) and the words that we learned.
A map would also be useful, it could have a planetary one that just show the sectors we discovered and each sector we get a full scan turn up in a more detailed map.
something i really really wanna see in the next big community mission: a star trek nod
like, if it's old tos or tng or ds9 or idk hell, disco or something, i think a lotta people would be fans of that
give me a spore drive s-class upgrade anyday
Please expand bytebeat range within an octave to include 5 half steps as well as the 7 whole steps?
Imagine this game had a competitive mode
Something like ark or rust
Unrelated to your normal character, you would play per wipe in order to defeat other players
Limited to a sector with 10 stars of each color or so
No Man's Sky isnt about pvp but ok...
kinda wish the inventory system would get revamped
I really want a sorting and search function
also some more automation stuff
Yeah, thats why such a mode would be nice
foundations for landing pads would be amazing
It would be cool if the bytebeat library could extend to the actual music tracks
maybe you could put the custom planet tracks in playlists as well
cause arent the planet music procedurally generated?
it could add some more things people could share
I just want rickroll
be able to tame the sentinel walker or dog to have as a pet
have random half sentient primitives attack your base (raid)
could be mineral lifeforms you attack/harvest with mining laser
kinda hope Prisms wasn’t the only changes caves will get
"I just want pants, for god sake!" (sorry, I could not resist)
Preach
No, it's a cartoon network commercial, lol
With the DC villans league. Brainiac didn't had a pant in that cartoon
I wish we could change the color of our starship...
This may be sent here a lot but an update to PvP would be cool
It is good but I feel like it could be improved some
ah! we need more base colors. I fell it's kind of limitated
ex: I would love a black and purple base... But I don't have this option
When can I see my hands
One thing I kinda wish for them to do is update first person animations in general and add a body, giving extra leeway to add hands n arms when in cockpit
I get however that’d require a specific change for camera height for the vy’keens n geks- even for the height variants with each race including the anomaly’s
Albeit the request I have doesn’t really help improve the game mechanics-wise, but really is only seekin to immersify your game even further when exploring these planets n wreckages. To get that immersion in size for those without VR headsets
Something to ad to this: Allow us to make our own. Mix-n-match from the colors the other presets have, that'd be neat.
I would love more detail in the relation with aliens. I mean, we know that once generated they became fixed, right? So what you think about having a "log" with all know alien and a relation level. That way we could become friends with indivduals too
Yeah, Bioware style relationships
I know it's likely been said a lot, but more power options should definitely be added.
Things like Hydroelectric, Wind. Even just more efficient biofuel machines that you could research.
It just kinda gets annoying when you find a really nice place for a base. But either you need a bunch of solar panels which are decent but if you use small prefabs it uses too much power alone. And then if you go to use the electomagnetic and there aren't any hotspots nearby.
I wonder if the expedition will have hints to summer
Speaking of summer, there’s something that would be pretty complicated but end up looking so amazing if they could pull it off.
Give some planets the ability to have seasons. Imagine coming across a magma world during winter, where volcanos lay dormant, ashy snow piles up on the ground, and a milder temperature— Or seeing a bountiful planet during fall with it’s vegetation boasting beautiful golden leaves.
Big pog if Freighters get updated to be drivable and you can have a whole fleet like the ones you see in game
Imagine being able to use freighters in battle though that would also be cool
What I'd like is for biomes to be more of a gradient than set types
Like, a hot lush, cold lush, hot, toxic, radioactive toxic, stuff like that
Along with a mix and match of assets and colours to suit
Imagine an arid radioactive or toxic planet
I would love to have some sort of manufacturing mechanic in the game. Where basically it goes from the mineral extractor to a refiner then into a depot.
so you want Satisfactory
Uh...well, we actually have that in a bunch of cases already. I have pics of arid radiation planets and bioluminescent ones. I think this might be one of those cases where players haven't realized its already in the game because theyve been told every planet of that type looks the same, that they've let that bias dictate what's left to explore.
Arid radiation planet, looks like a total desert just doesnt have cactus.
Bioluminescent radiation planet, looks almost like a lush, its so vibrant with colors. Even during the day, its absurdly colorful
I'd disagree with that, because conditions are still just radioactive, plus it's a set biome type
Not dynamically mixed, which is what I'm on about
I get that, but this variation is a lot more interesting to me than just a different hazard type to wittle down my hazard protection.
Oh yeah it's certainly better
But it's still a hand set biome type
I'd like to see cold planets that have enough radiation to have bioluminescent plants and the weird trees
Or arid planets that are toxic and have mushrooms instead of cacti
Dynamic stuff like that
But we have arid planets with toxic + mushrooms...?
Yeah, like a direct mix between the two. My main point is overlapping conditions and biomes
With spawn tables that reflect that, using current assets
Yeah, ok. I mean...I like to have a reason to leave the starting system personally.
This only adds more variety and reason tho
Like, what would be wrong with a lush planet that's radioactive?
The biome specific plant would be decided by the dominant condition
Well...it would have uranium and paraffinium for starters, so 1 less reason for me to look for another planet of that type if im a new player
This
Add materials to that too
Okay, so this wasnt stated in the beginning
If its biome specific, then I agree, it wouldnt change anything
But thats still a single "biome" with mixed assets
Im going to start using "biome" because i know someones going to chew me out over semantics here at some point.
I'm basically on about expanding the current asset mixing which, whilst it exists, is still kinda limited
The bioluminescent lush planets with bubbles are an example but it's not done dynamically
As in, they're a set biome that can spawn, coded to do that by HG
Idk, this sounds like moving goal posts. Current variety is honestly pretty great. I dont think any amount of additional variety is going to appease the masses before it becomes assets in a blender
Idk, I think it could be done well. I'd love to see a lush planet with scattered snow, or a toxic planet that can get wildfires too
Just stuff like that
Or stuff like a cold planet with volcanoes
I do think volcanoes should be an asset on other planets too, not just a volcanic type.
But yeah, i get what youre going for, its just hard to imagine it as not being just a hazard pallete swap
lotsa stuff can still be done to make arctic biomes more interesting
yeah imagine actual snow trail physics
mmm
contact?
and by trail, do you mean footprints?
because i’ve been hoping for that since 2016
imagine sitting in a bucket
under accurate circumstance when that bucket moves you should move with it
in NMS, you don't
I'd definitely like to see temperature at least separated added to other biome types, so hot, cold and temperate versions of other biomes
you still get pushed if it's a wall
just really choppy
and if you're standing on a moving thing the thing'd just slide under you
i see
if they were to mix various hazards and temps, i’d like to see actual biomes mixed as well
or just have zones of biomes depending on the system
we could still have planets with 1 biome, but there could be special planets with multiple biome zones. and they sorta ‘mix’ and transition in between
creating interesting possibilities
Ok but lets riff on this idea a bit. This is going to sound a little wild, but I think Ion Batteries should go away. I think the survival aspects would be vastly amplified if you needed the specific resource to recharge the relevant hazard pro type. Couple with that storms that can have a different hazard type than the standard for the planet, so like a radiation event on a lush planet or toxic rain storm on a cold planet, superheated monsoons on a desert planets, etc.
The dynamic shouldn't be limited to the planets, it should affect the player experience as well. Maybe the player doesnt have that specific resource, so they're driven to take shelter from a freak unexpected storm event.
Yeah that could be really interesting
A other idea would be instead of having specific resources always come from a plant of a certain colour, maybe resources (like oxygen and sodium) could be integrated into other vegetation on the planet
So instead of having red oxygen plants everywhere, maybe certain trees or bushes already placed could have the oxygen fruit growing on them
To make it blend it with the planet's ecology better
They should add more detailed plants/ecosystems. For example, they could add leaves to trees on lush planets. If lush planets have storms on them there could be knocked down trees to make it seem more natural.
Yeah, details like fallen leaves and fallen trees would be nice
How am I going to feed my robot pets if I have no ion batteries :(
In all seriousness though I absolutely love the variety proposed here and would be glad to see something like this implemented!
Large doors for base building. I would love to make some sort of hangar/garage to store my Exocrafts or just for a massive room. A massive door could do wonders for base building.
I used to make those in the old legacy base building systems, those were fun
we really need craftable guns, food, tamable animas ( not sure if you can tame animals right now ), and extend the amount of players allowed in a planet / system, etc.
oh crap you can really have that many amount of players? How do you find that many players in a single planet together?
When you're playing first person, you don't see your body when claiming the Antenna Beacons, activating Planetary Charts or interacting with a structure, when the camera is going a bit back. When you move after claiming the Beacon, you can see the backpack trails but not the body. Would be nice to be able to see yourself at those moments.
Portals, galactic hub, player events, Expeditions
Have you been out of the loop for a little while?
im new, sorry.
Oh all good
Yeah there is a mainly multiplayer expeditions mode, taming animals happened a year ago
Lots of stuff
You can interact and tame the animals you find
I know his isn't nms-help, but how does prisms work? How can I make the shaders look good?
I am back about a year of updates and updating it rn. Can't wait
Would recomend #nms-questions
Prisms is just automatic, all the shaders are automatically the best they can be, you can change them in options menu like low med high ultra
ah, that's as easy as 1 2 3. thank you for the help 🙂
does anyone else think it's kinda weird how you can summon ships to the nexus but not any other stations/hubs (space stations, freighters, trading posts, etc.)?
it was added a couple updates ago
We have some oxygen plants
With bugs me is why we have so much "egg" plants in toxic planets
the shell provides protection from the toxic atmosphere
on the one hand, yes. on the other, the toxicity is to the travellers, not necessarily the local wildlife
not having any atmosphere to speak of, on the other hand ...
we could have some variations in space stations structure and layout...
Better optimization
Does anyone else randomly just drop sub 30 fps for a while until they restart the game?
after being locked at 70+
Okay hear me out. It's probably been mentioned tons of times and would basically be a massive update.
But what if we could colonise uncharted systems, make space stations, make trade outposts, colonies and even a sort of home-made economy depending how and what you sell. And maybe the system has a value and it gets richer by selling things, buying things, making colonies, mining more materials, and doing jobs.
And as it gets richer better ships arrive, better items are offered, and the sell/buy prices get higher too.
Just a thought that popped in
I'd settle for being able to make a base directly on a space station of a system you discovered
Maybe thats what the new systems on space stations are about
Hello Games have any roadmap? Or we will keep receiving updates "forever" (nothing against it)
more species-centric food items, the primary races have not seen development or exploration since NEXT dropped and i want more interesting lore stuff
give me vy'keen rations and gek foodsludge and korvax capacitor-chargers, fuck it
if they give me cities and complex npcs and all that guff i want a reason to care, a reason to think this is important and needed
or you just end up with like... cities without people
pure structure with no inherent meaning
I also wanna see that damn carapiece lubricant/polish they keep on using
Cause maybe it could be used in interactions where they talk about their carapiece for some new interesting dialogue
discreetly handing a korvax a vial of carbide grease for some xtra lore
Yesss
And maybe if they add cities you could find where the Korvax are manufactured
A whole new questline for each race
That would make an amazing update if they added it alongdide cities
what about abandoned cities - like abandoned freghters but a bit safer
ik thats not what the post was about but it gave me that idea
see i'd like this but a city is just too big a scale; it literally is a city without people, which is exactly what i'd like them to avoid. structure without meaning
...but i can see that being something interesting, maybe on a smaller scale. else it just becomes set dressing, right
what if you got towns and villages
like, ideally an implementation of something should have key functions that affect the player's decisionmaking and create a known quantity
yeah, i mean i'd support towns and villages wholeheartedly, tightly-knit stuff that works on those small scales without losing info in the grain
like 7 or 8 of the settlement buildings next to each other for a village and maybe a larger building with a sort of leader-entity?
we already sort of have them in the rare instances where multiple buildings form clusters
who you could do quests for!
yeah but thats not really a community as the npcs dont really interact
i think it'd be more interesting if even that was up to chance. like, the writing on the wall is built to avoid such centralised leadership positions
this is true
yes
but the vy'keen are written to take orders from high command and pass them down, the gek are often selfish and work by their lonesome, and the korvax are a hivemind with no individual expression aside from carapace
what i think would be cool is if they had whole communitys
i think communities caught in a sort of snapshot might be interesting
Like a level of development that never really changes, growth stagnant to avoid the ire of the various agents of entropy
the vykeen could have a chieftain? the gek could constantly be trying to sell each other out with markets stalls and shops? the korvax could have personal charging/hiveminds?
now that's ideal
the gek thing could also be comedic
what if you could find a system, that was not just "populated" by a certain species, but dominated by a certain species, to the point where they have like border checks if you're not the dominant species when entering towns or villages
see that's where i'd personally say it might overstay its welcome
how do you mean?
it's the big reason why people complain about star wars' prequels. nobody wants to get caught up in space politics, and the ones that do really don't but secretly
i suppose you're right
if you'll excuse the overborne allegory, the gatekeeping just feels like it'd be more irritating than relevant
still, gek stumbling over one another to pay their way into the highest echelons of leadership is pretty funny
but see what if you could break the law
although again i can see that that coukd be annoying
honestly ive thought about this and its a cool idea but it would probably need abstracting
like, my suggestion was something like a 'heat' system where the game tracks certain actions between systems and makes you a known element
like, doing criminal acts nets you in trouble with local authorities who could put bounties out for your arrest, and you could encounter bounty hunters instead of the usual pirate encounters
i think what you have to do is find the perfect spot between a space exploration game like nms and a community based game like, say, stardew valley for example
this is ideal, yes
i also thought it could work the other way: say you're a wealthy trader minding your own business, or a pirate hunter looking to cash in bounties
people start catching on and people start wanting you out of their hair
i suppose, yes
i could also see that becoming irritating to deal with especially to casual players but i mean, i'm talking like million-unit exchanges and serious culling of the local pirate population
risks of the trade, as it were
however that could create unnecessary friction or toxicity between players
this is also true
i dont really have a rebuttal to that other than that i'm sure the community will steady itself, as it has tended to in the past
on the other hand though, it could be a way to integrate freighter and frigate battles
your combat frigates already warp in to assist, but if space combat is further developed i could see something like an optional fire support call button being a thing, kinda like the defense chit
yeah
so what about planets with more than one biome? (and ik that is a whole other can of worms)
hah, imagine: no man's sky with a difficulty mode
yeah yknow i can't see that really happening. like, it's star wars rules, right? this is the sand planet, this is the swamp planet, etc
yeah i get that
i wouldn't rule out thermal biomes, but i'm not all agreed on multi biome. it'd have to be a very, very careful integration
ice caps? yes! equatorial hot stuff? sure! maybe some weather changes between biomes? even better!
It could mess up current planets. Like people have bases in a biome they love for a reason. Then an update comes and could change that.
that's the rub, yeah
Maybe they could do warnings. Like a small update that says all un-uploaded planets will be changed. Then in the next update they could actually do it. Giving players a chance to save planets
careful integration would be needed for that sorta stuff and i just can't see it happening. plus it'd be sorta detracting to the vibe, like suddenly this is the sand and also swamp and also also maybe snow and also some volcanoes ooh
i can see it being interesting, but it'd detract from the game as it exists now in a fundamental way
just idk. not sold, would be cool tho. maybe in another game
Yeah. And it would change how we look at planets. Like each biome has it's own kinda ores. Then that would make it go a bit fuzzy
honestly speaking on environments and stuff, they super duper need to streamline the enviro shield system, it's seriously ridiculous how you need individual environment upgrades. like, i don't need environment upgrades for my life support, i don't think i should need it for my shielding system
although i can see the gameplay value, it just feels like a holdover from the olden days when inventory management was super critical and annoying
I never really bothered upgrading life support or shields. I upgraded my jetpack to the max
And just flew all over planets
That plus max jetpack sends you flying
I also use the minatour jetpack to fly then exit and jetpack to just fling myself
to accelerate personally, i use a melee jump and then i circle around while holding A/D + W
you go faster because air acceleration doesn't account for the added forces
I watched a video yesterday and apparently you can do a shoulder boost now?
hang on this isn't future discussion lol, sorry to interrupt the thread
Oop yeah
should probably move to #no-mans-sky for regular game stuff
broaden non-lush planets' color palettes further
What about - hiring NPC pilots for your "inactive" ships for combat support?
bit of a pipe dream, but what if we could encounter hyperdrive anomalies, ones that can only be encountered rarely during warps? cosmic horrors? leviathan-class alien organisms? long-abandoned interstellar battleships and their fleet lying twisted and mangled in a dimension that by all logic should not exist?
well, the "dimensions that should not exist" is a major part of NMS already ...
boundary failures, anomalous planets, etc.
we need more lore
just to know...
- Do Hello games people read this chat
- there is a organized wishlist anywhere?
- maybe.. 2) how would you organize pure chaos
i mean this channel is probably semi-reflective of reddit (given it's the subreddit's discord), which means you have some folks either wanting the game to, roughly speaking, go full-tilt into MMO-ish features or a smaller minority wanting it to go further into proc-gen aspects & closer to "simulation" in the sense of more gameplay systems interacting to create emergent moments (or maybe that's just me i dunno)
I am all for proc gen, am a big fan of the lonely feel of the game and would prefer solo flying or with like one or two friends vs full on MMO. Although i do love the fact that there is community and that its there, if ya want to step in and say hi. Its a good balance for me rn, and i like having multiplayer be optional
It still is nice to have some random traveler pop in and make your day tho
Love that feature
Still waiting for pre release type planets tho.....
I think it's probably fair to say that there's a generational divide in the community on that -- older generations who grew up with single player games want more of that experience, whereas younger players are looking for all gameplay to be MP-related
well of course it's a generalization
Yep
Im quite a fan of single player games, and multiplayer, depends on the game lol
I think both groups would benefit from stronger NPC AI though, giving them more complex goals and missions and working together
Oh hell yeah
Let me high five the npcs lol
I remember in an eaely trailer soke dude was flying with some npc ships
I want roving gangs of Mad Max style pirates on planets
And there we like little pop ups about like formations and shit
npc need a workup in general
Would be cool to join an npc gang and just vibe with them, we could have those big faction battles too
pirates are completely random, and if you HAPPEN to hit a freighter while trying to kill the pirate? NOW YOU ARE ENEMY NUMBER ONE
dude, i didn't even hurt your friggen frigate.
Ikr
its kinda wack, you should just join a side at the start and help and your on that side forever
Wait
Then you can cheese it and join the freighter side and still shoot at its cargo
Nvm
do you even get reputation for killing pirates in battles?
you used to be able to, not sure these days
i know you do for the random bounty ones
but for the freighter ones?
and yet, i can pause for a trader , SHOOT HIS SHIP and send him running like a baby, no drop in reputation
Wait you can shoot the traders
yep
the whole faction system needs an overhaul, it's pointless and not engaging
There are the guilds and stuff but i can count on one hand the amount of times ive actually done any missions
Also the ones on a planet that you can shoot and they turn to attack you? No loss of rep?
That should gain you bad rep
Well they are black market traders
still, maybe shooting at them a few times would make them go "yeah we don't come to you. sorry no modules for you"
even black market people have reputation
"Nah, he slugged eddie. fuck him, i ain't sellin' him shit"
"i'll sell him a bullet if ya want me to, that's about it. "
I always thought it would be cool if you could develop relationships with trader NPCs and such too. like you give them a good deal on some goods, maybe after a few trades they start showing you some secret items, or has your back if pirates get the drop on you
those kinds of personal relationships with NPCs are sorely needed to reduce the sterile feeling of stations and outposts
Ship customization and trade with other players would be nice
like if you could use your starship communicator to call them
well we do have the ability to trade w/ other players, kind of
Trade ships I meant
I wish they could rebalance the reputation system. The amount of reputation items you get from frigate missions trivalises things and it would be great if reputation did more than just affect which missions you can select. Perhaps cosmetic items that are only accessible if you have a certain reputation would be a nice touch like bionics if you're on good terms with the Korvax.
It would be good to make the guild envoy between the mission agent and the map vendor actually useful.
In space stations that is.
i wish for inverted triangle walls to do full roof
it'd be nice if terminals properly snapped to buildings aside from cubes
ditch quicksilver in favor of rep-related cosmetic unlocks
make it so that you can hold down a/d/lb/rb when deciding how many of an item you want to craft
This
You can do that already tho
Since when? I still have to repeatedly spam the button to increase stack size or craft more
There is no press&hold
there is for stack splitting
You just hover over the thing you want to craft and press a or d
But I have to keep pressing it repeatedly. There is no option to just hold the button down and let it increase
That's the point here
You pressing e?
A or D just scroll through inv tabs and close the entire craft menu
Hover over the item in the craft menu
Go to 1:00
https://youtu.be/8NcBsttnrU0
@zenith marten
And wait until he is crafting
Xaine is using autohotkey or some external script tool or plugin which spams the button
it's not in vanilla game itself
Nah , mate it worked for me lol
it's not in the game

for crafting multiple products at a time, if you have sufficient materials i believe you can just hold the key...? 🤔
Unless maybe you changed setting from hold to do stuff?
'cause I know you can disable that for instant click on some stuff
You need to have autohotkey or something that spams the key. It doesn't apply to crafted items. Only stack splitting supports press&hold
Another guy who says the same thing
https://steamcommunity.com/app/275850/discussions/0/1474221865189908973/
I am currently sending literal proof of it not working
I'll do the same

crafting items in the game has never had press&hold
^
as of vanilla
yeah
...
xaine is using either a mod or autohotkey
okay gimme a moment to load up, lol
my pc slow-ish but i coulda swore...
like i know i've been able to just hold it to multi-craft in plain vanilla
it does work when pressing&holding the split
but not when crafting
And now someone might argue that maybe pressing E to craft more would work
that doesn't either
yeesh, don't start up the game in awhile or use Galaxy and it all wants to take forever 💀
alexa, set a reminder for 30 minutes
lmao fr tho 😬
okay yeah, and also i remain big lmao at so-called optimizations
and they still can't for the life of them fix the UI not loading in properly if there's even the slightest unfocusing of the window i guess so that's cool
smh
hello cube
game can become really broken when unfocusing the window for a while
especially in multi
yeah i wish they'd fix that
i don't think i even alt+tabbed during the initial load-in and it still broke the UI like above
also did Prisms fix the lighting much? interior lighting still seems a mess as of Expeditions updoot, but haven't bothered to update to Prisms yet
Anyone else think there should be a new ship class of classic flying saucers from old sci fi?
Not really - generally too bland in design
i think they could introduce a fresh take on the old classic flying saucer
they could easily make it cool
why not make it a multicrew flying saucer while they’re at it
actually, it might actually be funny to have a small derpy one and people can see you through the glass
I wish they make upgrade modules stackable.
So one can stock up those for future ships/tools..
“You know the rules, and so do I”
pumped up kicks begins playing
updated creative mode that essentially changes it to a full custom mode allowing adjustment of various parameters including advanced options like universe generation seed and the like
changes to advanced options such as this would inform folks that multiplayer would not be possible (or at least not without sharing of universe generation seed?)
I wouldn't mind; especially like placing POIs yknow so I can have my underground Monolith and yet also be able to surround it with bytebeats to play custom music while approaching it
Also surround it with relevant cave flora and rocks
Just submitted the suggestion to HG, albeit I think I might have already but eh, never hurts to resubmit
It's a cool idea
Isn't it kinda similar to what Rayrod's multiverse is going for?
Though I'm still skeptical it'll ever come out
We should have base codes
To put in teleporters
So you can go to ppls bases
Maybe it has smth similar to portal interference so it's not op
I think it'd be kinda redundant since we already have portal addresses
Which are basically the same thing
And they don't have interference either so you can just go to the centre
so i cant be the only one in the position where like... i feel disenfranchised with what's been going on as of late regarding nms' update cycle
it's like they're rounding the corners off while largely leaving the rest of the mottled mess alone
and that's fine, i guess. outstanding bugs that severely impact quality of play are fine. but i think the worst part is the disempowerment it seems to cultivate
like, no man's sky started out as a flawed but alright game that was ambitious and weirdly priced, and all the updates that came out just seemed to keep pushing it along and it really became something phenomenal, but now we're back in that flawed but alright rut i feel
constantly refactoring the game and ui and all that with no real goal. and i think that's a shame, and that the time they spend doing that would be better spent on fixing those outstanding bugs and maybe implementing some rich and complete ideas that play into nms' key themes of loneliness in the vastness of space and how that idea alone is compelling
i mean you have the existing encounters and lore with the big three but it's very much been off the radar for HG for a good while, it seems, and although the archives were a nod in that direction they're so limited in function that they were barely worth the devtime to implement in my opinion.
just feels like it's all drifted out of the crosshairs and now they're too focused on tying off the abyss or whatever, a story thread i admittedly have had zero interest in and continue to have zero interest in because i just don't find spooky monster space horror interesting
tl/dr: gek/vykeen/korvax cultures need more culture and the Abyss is boring me to death
I've been saying since day one the creature procgen especially regarding behavioral AI is severely lacking. Updating this would add a lot of depth to the core gameplay I feel. Hoped for more than just creature A runs away from player and creature B attacks on sight.
maybe the new functions added to pets will be expanded upon and applied to normal fauna
would be funny if HG implemented features similar to companions in Bethesda games where they could leave you if you did something they disliked
Well if we’re going to ask for a complex animal behavioural engine, you’re gonna get some nasty shit along with the funny cat videos.
Let's reign it back in we don't want discussion of harming your pets. This is a warning traveller
Sorry what?
Read rule 1, animal cruelty is found offensive by many, me included
Even as a joke
when will HG implement nests and eggs in the wild? i want to find one and watch them slowly hatch over the course of a few days
and watch as the parents go back and forth, protecting it and doing parenty things
Like gerbils?
gerbils do hatch from eggs, yes
No I meant the offensive stuff they do that’s just been censored by the server police.
makes farting noise with mouth
would be fun if there were egg-like creatures with feet that ran around and rolled down steep inclines
Humpty Dumpty, it didn’t end well.
but these creatures will have evolved to fit the harsh terrain
mastering their rolling abilities
Oh like haggis ?
hmm
chieftain o’ th’ puddin’ race
i could get behind that
aye, a pet haggis.
and a proper haggis butcher for when they grow old.
Yo ure gonna keep rolling with this huh
The game already has a number of quite brutally acquired meat products. If it was so loathsome, we wouldn’t play at all.
Games not rated M bruh
I support this
yes. and maybe predatory ones that tried to roll you down
Also just birds landing; bugs can. Be cool to disturb trees and have swarms taking off
Yes! And rend you asunder with powerful jaws if they catch you.
yeah it’s nice that we got new creatures with new behaviors, though it’s kinda sad those behaviors are exclusive only to some
Honestly I think the next step is shark-taming. Because then I can fit them with laser beams.
and how awesome if NMS is the first game to have SHARKS with frickin’ LASER BEAMS aye
actually, to flesh out what i mean, exclusive creature behaviors is a great direction to take, but if it’s something like flying and landing, swimming and walking on land, then that stuff should just be general across most of the fauna
obviously some aquatics would come ashore to lay eggs.
watch hello games do a fishing update and add sharks(that do shark things)
then, only the fittest survive the gauntlet of hatching
There are occasional carnivorous fish
They give payday loans at unreasonable rates
a chum dispenser for the nomad
of course first we’d need to make chum, which requires a meat grinder and protosausage
the plain bait is basically sausage
given NMS is a homage to science fiction down the ages, I think it’s time to pay attention to some David Lynch or David Cronenburg elements
“Just like regular chickens”
i’d love if Lynch made a game
too busy reading the weather forecast
haha
nah because that's still entirely dependent on their preferences for what they put in. Custom Mode would enable you to tailor things to your tastes (within some limits ofc) right there from in the game.
so like minecraft with the settings when you start a new world
or don't starve, either one, whichever one is more familiar with, but yeah
delete all bases and base features and go all out on terrain generation
Observatory structure
remove copy paste buildings and make them more fun and interesting to discover and explore
add some more scripted events to give better sense of lively universe
more systems interactions to create lil' events on their own
planetary outposts will be a good thing to expand upon, yes
if we get these so called cities people are speculating about, we very well may get some major changes to current outposts and buildings
I'd imagine more complex NPC stuff as well
PLS gib NPCs that can be found on-foot exploring planets doing a variety of things that can be friendly, hostile, sleeping, dead, etc
and in vehicles, swimming, in nautilons, riding fauna, cooking, etc
provide an option where we can adjust game layout
Like where the active notifcation appears on screen.
where the party members show, etc.
and option to hide stuff like that.
Multiverse is apparently exactly that. It's a program that opens as it's own window and you can change colours, generation etc to your tastes
At least that's what he says idk
I guess the extra window is less user friendly than integrating it into the game
I do think it's a good idea for a feature though
Maybe call it custom mode or something too
Also, I think the fact manufacturing facilities are somewhat obsolete it an indicator of some sort of changes to buildings coming up
Whether it's cities or not I don't know
But imo this is the first time where that feature is genuinely on the table as a possibility
Isn't that just the debugger thing that he uses? Not the multiverse itself?
Apparently that comes with the multiverse
"hello traveller"
Or at least a user friendly version will
i tried that npc mod with the piggyback.. it gave -too- many
like i was on a planet with a crater and there were almost 50 npcs jsut wandering around like mice
and a couple tried to attack me
Honestly I think the multiverse has suffered a lot of feature creep. He would have been better off keeping it as the overhaul
moved this :
I want to see something story wise. facilities and crashed freighters seem to have some lore around their logs... and then there's the freighter dungeons and facilities that have the goop and critters in pods. but they seem like a one-off, with no real reason to them. it's just "oh, another goop covered facility. remove goop, talk to console. leave." there's nothing engaging or thought provoking, it's just there. like the rusted metal junk on some cargo boxes. wipe it off, grab stuff, go. it's just rust, who cares?
would make exploration fun again
yup
or like, a random npc who spits some lore then gives you a location to go to
"they wouldn't listen, it attacked us.. covered everything. my family. gone. Please, don't go there"
NEW LOCATION MARKED
and you can decide to go there, and it's not just a facility covered in goop, but something sinister that tries to (or succeeds ) attack you
the guys from the base have a -little- story, but then it's just done..
Korvax has been kicked out for associating with you
vy'keen is a cultist who's family was killed
overseer has knowledge of the previous versions of the universe and secretly hates you and all you've done
but then it's just over, and it's "i should let the korvax go about their business"
like it never happened
if these guys are just gonna reside in my base and do nothing when i talk to them i'm gonna delete their desks. what's the point of an NPC you can't interact with?
it felt like they were suppose to be world-based versions of the ones in the space station ,but no.
that's not it, it's just a vy'keen standing in front of a wall of guns, who i can't talk to.
So what about if we got a mining exocraft like a car with a massive drill bit on the front
Well, they developed newer cave biomes in the prisms update, maybe they could do something more with that
Ive hit undiggable ground, plenty of times
For example, what if in every planet there's a cavern pretty far underground with good loot in it, that to find you have to buy a thing like that works the same way as an abandoned freighter finder
There's good loot in those? I did two and never bothered looking for another
They're more about the fun and eerienes
Plus there a good way to farm easy units and nanites when you're a newer player
I'd really like some mini-bosses in caves... some kind of risk-reward element with nice treasure but possibility of dying
Sean basically hinted at this pre-release, that there would be dangerous stuff in the caves. They did used to have the ubiquitous cave crabs but they took them out
Here’s a small thing that would be nice to have. Being able to connect supply pipe separately. Instead of having to restart every time you make a mistake on a big build you could just delete the segment that you screwed up and connect it back to whatever segment you deleted it from.
Let me drive my cargo and crash into a planet pls hello games
that'd be funny.
if you could crash a hauler and leave stuff other people could find in crates
How about this for an item?
Chromatic Filter (helmet visor) [consumable]
This item allows the user to view the planet in different chromatic states
An item that you get by going to chromatic glitch planets, and then you can tell an NPC in the anomaly about it, to get 10 filters that make the world you're on show as that kind, for you. Mainly for taking pictures on different worlds with different lighting schemes. Such as an ice world with redacted lighting
I think we might be getting the other universe soon.
To me it seems like the last year and some of this year's stories and updates have been moving in that direction, both lore wise and with different gamemodes and events being used as test-beds for HelloGames' ideas.
We know Ariadne is an impostor, the game has support for procedural dungeons even if they are currently limited, the living ships seem to travel between some other universe and are hatched from void eggs.
With expeditions being added I think this will be the final piece to the puzzle. Expeditions into the void, a hostile mirror universe that requires late-game gear and skills to survive. We'll learn what the shape-shifters are, and likely get a set of new enemies and planet types (all in this mirror universe.)
Think about it, it kills many birds with one stone. Exploration players want to see more types of worlds but base-builders don't want their planets to be altered too much, well now the evil mirror universe can be updated whenever HG want without breaking any player bases. Players who want combat get planets full of beefed up monsters and sentinels. And players who want lore answers finally get a continuation of the story started during the weekend missions.
yes, please.
this.
this is what i want in NMS.
endgame exploration/combat without the need to mess with existing bases
yes. do want.
That all sounds well and good... But I’d hope some combat update would come before or alongside it-
If I’m gonna have to get late-game gear to fight something I’d want it be engaging, make me want to fight it, and not die in one-to-two shots of the scatter blaster or plasma grenade.
think the best way to remedy such a situation is to dynamically adjust the boss based on your character's/ship's damage potential/"gear level", with a minimum damage potential required to even attempt it with the boss's health scaling with your damage potential appropriately, so no matter how high you go it's always a challenging but fair fight. same logic would be applied in a party of players, just add up everyone's damage potential for the encounter and balance it around that
really do wish we had more UI customization options like suggested here. I'm really not a fan of the recent changes that let parts of the UI blend into bright areas of the screen, e.g. sky/flashes of light/fog/etc.
I’d like to see quicksilver be far less timegated eventually, or at least have other ways to gain small amounts of it outside of anomalies.
wish the shop inventory was available via scavenging and mission rewards
the whole currency grind is so transparently padding
Yeah, I want to get back to just exploring, but I really want to do so in a nice hammerhead LS.
I think being able to gain it in other ways would be good. Existing players have had a long time to build up QS. I'm guessing it'd take months for a new player to buy everything.
It's also something that's been hinted at - after the unique weekend missions ended, HG alluded to new ways to earn QS being added some time
also why i wish starbirth operated largely differently, e.g. find void egg out in the wild, have warps or planet visits influence egg/organ maturation, etc.
Exactly. As it stands, Starbirth is just too big of a time investment
haven't they already done so with the Nexus missions & if memory serves weekend forms offering more? then the silly timed junk via Halloween or the recent expedition
They have added the weekend missions back in yeah. Maybe I'm just hopeful, but I read it as something new new being added to the game some time
same here but my expectations have been significantly lowered
Imagine, for a moment, gargantuan space structures whose inner, maze-like corridors you have to navigate in your ship to reach an inner landing pad. Maybe some kind of abandoned, ruined colony?
I would very much like more world interaction in the ship outside of anomalies, dogfights, and shooting asteroids.
We need a bounty hunter update
That you can search bounty’s and turn them in for money
And they may fight back
And a good gun update
That would be amazing
And it would be awesome if you could fly with frighters
boring destiny flashbacks
bounties could be cool if they had enough variation and weren't the current missions copied and pasted into bounty form
I mean, once you get the particle weapon, you can basically 2-shot all ships
makes combat weak
and there's not humanoid combat, just the random animal that tries to bite you
HG added so many interesting, creative creatures recently
and yet, no new drastic behaviors/attacks
you know those new fauna that look like wheels and spin across the landscape?
why not give them a hostile attack that makes them spin real fast at you
tweaked sentinel health/damage too if memory serves but still nothing else new with them i think...Last big new thing with them was healing drones & armor plating
or make the little guy who pops up out of the ground the ability to pick-pocket you
i like the changes to the sentinels tbh, it's more fun to take down more of them more quickly
imagine if they could steal ur multitool so you'd have to play literal whackamole
u should be able to save fauna from those flytrap plants too
fishies from some of the clams
yes, and that goes back to a topic we previously talked about
allow fauna to be affected by hazards
but also see some fauna actually drawn to like the bloatplants and underwater vents
like some feed off the gas or just depend on the heat
see some gek trying to get high from the bloatplant gases 😂
need ufo ship
also little thing, add the gamma/brightness option back so one can make the game stupid bright if one wants
sonic wants a word with you
yes, add Sonic into nms
some of them look like sonic spinning XD
hehe
all jokes aside, i think deeper, more complex fauna behaviors and interactions should be one of HG's top priorities
as they're a major part of its exploration factor
i love repeating myself millions of times here
I agree
pls restore translucent backgrounds to HUD or at least enable option to restore them, this is harder to parse imo
Be able to see storm's through a bases windows
Instead of seeing a different environment inside and outside
reduce duplicate aliens further pls & ty
I never understood why there'd be duplicate aliens in starships and outposts.
It makes looking for new ones to learn words from a bit more confusing.
honestly you'd just think they would make the aliens Unique Every Time or have procgen shared aliens across sectors so you could meet a critter you'd already met in another place
if anything id like to see diversity in pilots. like, system-dependent
gek would show up and be pilots less in vy'keen systems and vice versa, korvax would try to stay out of everyone's proverbial hair
Combat Revamp
Invasions
- When you're at your base you can use a certain item and it will either attract monsters (like the swarm that appears when you destroy whispering eggs) or sentinels that will invade your base.
- Base parts can be damaged when shot by a player (you will be able to change this by tweaking the pvp settings) or npc
Base defence
- Addition of one way shield generators that can block harm from the outside but lets any weapon attack from the inside go out
- Addition of various turrets (pretty self explanatory)
Space combat
- Being able to command freighters and/or frigates to attack a ship or another freighter
- Being able to raise a starfighter squadron that could fight as your wingmen
- Freighters and trader's ships actually able to damage enemies
- Combat frigates actually using their turrets and damaging enemy's ship
- Reducing the freighter tractor beam range
- Making the restrictions of summoning a freighter the same as the Space Anomaly (as I am personally annoyed by the fact I can't summon my freighter in an empty space)
- Being able to encounter wars (dependant on conflict level of the current system) and participate with a certain race (eg. Gek, Vy'keen, Korvax) or maybe a enemy race that you can fight
- Being able to hijack and enter the freighter after you attack the ship and being able to fight the crew inside a freighter
^good suggestion?
they should add more races and type and designs of starships
I would like to have planetless systems and systems with dying planets
Then the gravity in these systems would be bizzare and would have an effect when boosting and pulsing, or even ship handling within these systems
Some systems will have some plasma clouds and waves/radiation that affects some of the ship's systems like jamming, shield recharging, weapon damage; some systems wouldn't even allow recharging of ship shields due to some anomalous EM phenomena inherent in those types of systems
Long grass in the water, reeds, mangrove; those types of plants that grow in and out of the water. Lotus and such; it'd be a nice image opportunity to have a shot underwater in a patch of lillies as the sun shone through, casting light rays through the water.
That would be fantastic
would be nice if we could take one of our frigates for a special single-frigate mission that would involve completing a set number of objectives, minigames, followed by a small waiting period
go broke on NMS's virtual stock market by undertaking a trade mission with a trade frigate
protect freighter convoys from pirates and sentinels with combat frigate missions
study nebulas and gather data on supernovas with exploration frigates
submitted the request to zendesk
i'd really like if we could forge friendships with npc. that might be a bad take but it's one of the few things i actually find myself longing for in this game. ><;
honestly i'm wishing for some more npc permanence, like sector locals who drift from place to place and who actively recognise you
Yeah and can add them as wingmates, whether for a fee or after becoming close friends with them
see im not sure im interested in that
itd be a cool addition but its not my thing
im very much a loner but its nice to see friendly faces
building business relationships with them would be cool, get discounts, secret items, etc
or hire NPCs to staff your freighter, I've wanted that for a while
or hire traders to take over the grind and basically build a trading fleet, or a pirate fleet, whatever you're into
the problem is now that HG has added multiplayer, every feature discussion is I'm sure like "well let's just do that with multiplayer activities" because that's much easier to build than competent AI
I'd like for people to be able to share photographs in the same way we currently share bitbyte tracks. In the same way we can play the tracks of others in our game, it'd be awesome if photographs could be mounted as art in our base
Actual frozen water/thin layer of ice on top of water on some extreme cold planets. Also oceans of acid or lava etc would be nice
Currently the entire universe has only one liquid type which is water...
Bro wind energy, go to a extreme planet thats super windy, boom wind energy
Actually. I have been on a planet that was -92 c, UNDER SEA. I'm pretty sure water freezes at 0c. I'm pretty sure it was not water
the global average temperature is about 2.5°C (36.5° F), and at some locations the ocean bottom temperature is less than 1°C (33.8° F)
apparently pressure can prevent liquid from freezing.. but if that's the case then our suits shouldn't have us die within a minute in space
we will see an Ocean King?
Speaking of water, I've been wanting multiple water levels for years. Not sure we will ever get it, but I'd like some mountain lakes, rivers, and waterfalls
more eggs, game should initialize with you in an egg that you have to wait about a day to hatch, then you start as small baby traveler and grow up over the course of about a week to two weeks
as baby traveler you can't reach anything in vehicles so you're planetbound till adolescence, where you can then kinda clumsily operate vehicles
oh and on the very off chance someone finds your egg before you hatch, they can sequence you into something unusual
but we have red water, tocix water... And... That's it
I will say it again, I want to ride on a sandworm
I meant like oceans and lakes of actual toxic sludge which would be deadly to swim in and would require the use of mech or nautilon
or lava which could only be traversed with nomad since it would float above it
Actual hazards that would make us consider the way we traverse certain planets
lava would probaly be connected to other changes
i agree
You know what I want? I want to see planets exploding. Permanent damages to ships, outposts and space stations.
Planets exploding would just lead to griefing, I'm pretty sure no-one wants their base planet destroyed
There’s a planet subtype called “Imminent Core Detention” and I was seriously disappointed it was just another lava world.
Maybe exploding planets could be a special kind of event? They’d be a rare type of planet that’s spawn when entering a new system, so you won’t have to worry about a planet you like and have a base on suddenly exploding.
If you find one though, be prepared if you want to land on it. The planet will stay in a dormant state until landed on with your ship, which will prompt your suit to give you a warning message before starting a timer. These planets would be loaded with rare and valuable resources, but it’s up for you to get them before the whole things explodes! Once the timer hits 0, the planet gives you a small grace period before exploding from the inside-out, instantly killing any players who couldn’t escape in time and heavily damaging their ships as well. Dying this way though would only make you lose any materials you gathered on that planet, not your whole inventory as I think that’d be a bit too harsh. You’re also left with a fragmented planet in the system, which can’t be landed up, but it does give an awesome visual in the sky’s of other near-by planets.
Maybe they could put in a small nod to Metroid and have you rescue some animals on these planets sometimes.
Maybe that could be a nexus mission-
That’s what I was referring to. They should explode if their core is dying..
Is it possible to spawn on a lush world when you start
I would really like to be able to rename discoveries I’ve already (named and) uploaded. In general, this would allow players to fix their discoveries’ accidental, unfortunate, and regretful names that happen along the way. And further, places and things get renamed all the time in real life, so why not in our game?
I’ve accidentally gave an animal a planet name cause I didn’t realize the game brought me to the animal menu when I pressed esc.
And some names have caps in wrong places-
eggs within eggs
you know how some rocks have those gems/stones in them?
it’d be neat if you could ‘pop’ them off and collect them, and they’d disappear from them like this
i do think mining could be more fun and satisfying
could come with a larger cave update
less gathering and crafting and looting and selling
Actually how about.. an imminent core explosion planet, you can only find via nexus mission
and rather than "save the animals" which is impossible with your little ship
it's "scan them all for posterity"
and you get a limited time to scan all animals and plantlife
you fail, planet goes boom, you wake up somewhere else with your ship far away and busted up
you succeed, you head back to nada, and get reward
I wonder how feasible it would be for HG to make Space Photography an actual "profession" within the game's limited use of such. Pictures you take of a star system, it's planets, and it's fauna and flora could reward a small amount of nanites or whatever other junk if you "upload" them somwhere, similar to the discovery pages. Could work nicely with an overhaul of how Discoveries work and are saved on our clients, maybe allowing you to tag certain discoveries with a (small) .png of a picture of that discovery, similar to how there's those tiny icons for the waypoints you've found in your discovery screens
I'd like it if we could choose a few of our "best" pictures and have them synced so other players can see them in the Anomaly, maybe where the teleporter currently is. As it stands, as someone with near-zero interest in bases, I never go to that section of the Anomaly... but I would a lot more if I could see everyone's favourite snaps
Being able to buy space stations and build in them like frigates
would be cool, and it's possible
I hope we get some improvements to the core gameplay systems soon, they haven't really been touched in a long time
Quality of life update for this game would be to add for stormless paradise planets have a chance for storms but they don't effect hazard protection but can have a chance for lightning
Add a little more realism to the planets essentially
Just make the storms rare to happen
All I want is to adopt a shark and give it laser beams
So sharks with LASERS on their head
What are you, a James Bond villain.
Including more realistic day-night cycles (not the current 20 minutes). More realistic weather patterns would go hand-in-hand with longer days
i know of a paradise planet with HORRIBLE weather name
SOmething like IMMENENT TOXIC MIST
it literally means "bubbles"
legit always bubbles.
so pretty.
ok, hear me out.
Cubic shape on terrains manipulator. SOmetimes I want to dig a sqaure like hole, but I can't because the terrain manipulator don't allow it.
vertical flatteing would also help
Death star frigate
I think this is already a thing? Or can you only create square terraria?
if it's a thing I don't know how to change from sphere to square
I hope someday they add ship/exo craft and multi tool parts that we can find and build our own ships etc.
@manic forum Uhm... i did it the other day... what button was it again
Oh.. CREATE makes a square if you press C
i don't see anything for dig
so I just found out you can only have 6 ships and i think that's... pretty lame honestly
I wish it were like in GTA Online where you can basically have an unlimited amount of cars, and you can buy them just because they look cool even if you are never going to drive them
I was on such planet just a week ago. It was a lush planet with forests and hills. When storm came the sky was filled with clouds and I heard a lot of wind but no damage or hazards were created
There was just a lot of particles flying around. It was cool and all
Yeah I just think it would be good to have more realistic weather patterns because I think it would make the planets feel more alive
would be kinda neat if you were playing with a friend who was miles away. They mention they’re in a storm, then it clears for them but it makes its way to you
more love for old shit
polish up trade posts, make landing beacons craftable (the little landing nodes you get on some structures without a proper landing pad
fix standing lights
We need space casino in anomaly.. Imagine they are working with it right now and that's the reason why anomaly is not onnline..
I would like planets to have geology, like beaches and mountains and such. Right now you land pretty much anywhere on the planet and it's the same. It would encourage more intra-planet exploration.
This might be beyond the original engine, though
they did make that change though
you can land on a planet with large continents, and if you explore further, the land can start to make way for small ponds, turning into bigger lakes, then transitioning to the ocean with islands and large oceans with no land
but for planets with no water, i agree. They could use more diversity across the biomes
anomaly isn't online? So we will have an update?
Probably not, no idea tbh.
Just throw out an idea for space casino
Yep.. and an option to add some quicksilver in the game if you want
As in 4 money
Or just creative
Just thought of a great idea
Time to write
Mechanical machinery: a new "mechanical" subcategory under the tech category in the base building menu that includes a whole assortment of mechanical base techs that let you build your very own mechanical contraptions. You can combine components like motors which operate using electricity from a power source like a solar panel, or use up resources like carbon or sodium and convert it into mechanical energy which can be used to power other machinery, such as mechanical refiners, which can be connected together using piping to share a workload among multiple refiners, mineral compressors which take raw resources in and convert them to valuable items that can be used or sold, and mechanical generators which can convert mechanical energy into electricity. Gears are also available to create twists and turns in the way the machinery is laid out or to connect multiple machines to a single motor.
Zendeskin' time
A build able screen which you could interact with and it would tell you how much power is used and is available without having to go to a battery or something else
Having a casino in the anomaly would be the most coolest thing ever
speak for yourself, having a casino in the anomaly would be one of my favorite features lmao
Thankfully Hello Games would never do that
Disagree. Anomaly def. needs a dabo wheel
i’ll dab your wheel
technically kinda already does if there's an upgrade module vendor (which if memory serves there is)
FACTS
I mean I don't see what's wrong with a casino. It can be fun if done well, maybe label it more as a game's room or something... But then again, Nada and Polo don't seem like the kind to have either type of room-
we already have a casino tho, it's every system's planets, ships, multitools, upgrade modules 😂
Pfft
Imagine if they gave us blueprints to build certain tables/games in bases, people could literally have casinos for people to come play in
That’s I’d actually love.
Build a personal game room in my freighter for my friends. :>
Exactly, doesn't inherently have to be 'gambling' - those types of games (slots, poker, etc) are just probably the easiest things to implement into the game
The game is a giant casino
we need some sort of archive or storage hanger or something like that that keep ships owned and accessible, but not summon-able and active.
so that we can be flexing to alien homies
but what about gladiator arenas
ok
nice
we need to have companion battles
with different food giving different buffs to the companions and different abilities they can use to be the very best
i wanna give my blob a red bull to fight your animal
does that make your blob fly
and grow some really veiny arms
ever heard of freighters and the matter beam?
i mean make them have random stats
kind of like x class upgrades but as a base weapon
but aren’t the stats already procedurally generated
i mean like different boltcaster weapons but with different base stats
the base weapons are fixed
not a fan of RNG stats personally
tbh i wish the RNG stats stuff only related to bonuses and core/base stat improvements were fixed & available via tech blueprints
it would be cool if HG put in a few highly unique, specialized multi tools (including a multi sword)
i don’t care about stats personally
we need brrttt gun
what’s that?
that way if you want to minmax the option is there but kept marginal, but for everyone else there is a clear, direct way of upgrading equipment
a gun that shoots freedom
They should add a single Planet killing weapon to the game in normal mode that can be added to a spaceship. Who ever holds the weapon will have the ability to obliterate any planet that has never been discovered. Everyone can warp to the closest planet instantly to try and stop them or get the weapon for themselves. Records could be kept on who held the gun the longest and who destroyed the most planets. Maybe make the process of firing the weapon take a little time to warm up, so anyone who has alerts turned on could have time to warp to the location and try and stop it from happening. If a planet is destroyed make the NPC s at the space station of the system reference the destroyed planet or perhaps planets that existed there once.
If player is goes offline for more than a week or something.. the weapon could reset and be found at a randomized location and the community could be alerted of its coordinates
then it is a race to find it for those who wish to have such power
Would give this game a much needed villain for everyone to go after
Then people could make alliances where they protect the holder of the weapon and defend it from those who wish to have it
idk.. could be an interesting wrinkle to the game
there are like trillions of planets (hundreds of trillions?) what would make people fuss over someone trying to blow up one?
fun
well if it is an undiscovered planet... who knows, could be making a unicorn extinct or something
or perfect dino world
you would never know
also depends on the person who holds the weapon
whatever sinister things they could think of
maybe someone uses it for good and as a service to remove planets
who knows
but as long as it existed, people would want to have that power
so the person holding it would never be safe
i feel like people would fight more over a planet creation engine vs planet destruction weapon but 🤷
oh they absolutely would but that sounds more like a game feature than a weapon though
Those things could coexist
tbh the whole planet blaster weapon king of the hill thing is also a bit of a feature unto itself so
planet destruction would need to be able to be disabled or it just creates the ultimate griefing tool
yes
there would be large groups of people coming together to remove planets from the universe
On one hand, HG would never do this. On another hand, imagine if they released a new mode or a new game and made this into sort of a social experiment
yeah, tbh that's why i wish we had an option to disable player built structures, because for me it can act as unintended griefing, e.g. big base dragging performance, lots of bases cluttering HUD with icons (& dragging performance via cumulative effect), etc.
bleh
if it can only be used on planets that haven't been discovered it would solve this
they need a little chaos of some sort to stir things up a little
it would still be a totally optional thing for people who aren't interested
maybe, but not in a way that allows players to affect other player's experience
agree, thats why it can only be used on planets that haven't been discovered
I can imagine HG making the destruction of a planet very underwhelming
small dust effect
same as asteroid explosions
lol
honestly? rework the storms. instead of your suit UI spitting out "warning: incoming storm" and then just having the storm on top of you, make them instead be an actual, moving thing.
if your suit detects you're in the location of a storm's path, it gives you the warning well ahead of time so you can seek cover. how much time? if you look around, you will see the storm clouds actually moving. such clouds could also be made to be seen when close enough to a planet from space, so you can strategically plan your landing to avoid the storm.
maybe add an extra buildable for bases that essentially acts as a weather forecast, so you can scan if and when will storms pass over your base, which would probably be a desirable thing to know if you either don't want storms or want to build an outpost somewhere where storms pass over regularly to farm storm crystals.
Localized storms
or you can legit just get back in your ship when it says a storm is coming, and wait it out. i do that, heh
unless i want to go crystal hunting.
that and the gladiator arena would be really cool. imagine if they had a galactic tournament or something where you could bring in your best companions and have them fight arena-style battles to win a prize or something
sorta pokemon-like
that would be AWESOME to see on arid planets, like being able to watch the massive dust cloud rolling in as you sprint for shelter
also could take a while, so you can prepare
Working on that, being able to see storm's from inside your base and animals reacting to them
I'm reminded of thor, and the ben10 episode with the same kind of thing..
Abducted, stuck in an arena to fight other aliens
I'd like the ability to rename things you already named, or didn't name
Think they will add combat for larger ships? I would love to engage in fleet to fleet combat
sentinels. But we could have things like mother sentinel
terraforming
we need it. And well, using it shoulod be really hard and would attract a arm of sentinels
Starships (the ones you fly) that you can walk around in, and furnish, etc.
I love to explode
i do agree with starship interiors being explorable. i mean, on certain ships like fighters the current system makes sense, but on some haulers... surely all that space compared to a tiny cockpit is not just all storage space and engines
To me, explorable starships only makes sense if there are gameplay benefits to doing so
Any recent news on 4.0 leak?
I'd like to see more buildable decorative flora. I want to place my own glowing mushrooms
I want to see freighter V freighter combat. Whats the point of owning a huge ass death ship with 20 guns if you can't use them
Making a museum or zoology freighter obviously.
I wonder if one day we can design color scheme or custom decals for our ships.
I just wanna be able to give rides to friends or ride along in their ships. Multiplayer rehaul update, y'know?
that will be great, especially the haulers, they seem to have large interior space.
A better starship damage.
Like an actual shield instead of having shield as your starship's health and if your starship loses its shield it will start taking actual damage. The shield will automatically charge its shield overtime but your overall starship health won't and the only way to charge it back is by using metal plating. Shields will have a significantly lower health and health will cover 65% of the starship's durability if it's a explorer. Haulers will be literal tanks in terms of health and will have small shield capacity and its health high but it will need to sacrifice a lot of its damage potential and maneuverability, though they will have less chances to get their parts damaged. Fighters will have high shield capacity but low health, and Shuttles will be 50% shield and 50% health. If your shield is down, you will be vulnerable and if your enemies hit a specific spot while your shield is down like your wing, your wing will be damaged and it will be harder to balance your ship. These damages can be fixed for units in a space station and you can also buy upgrades either legal upgrades or illegal upgrades that help you give a upper hand in battles and will be different in starship types for example: Fighters can have a tech in which they will show weak spots making it easier to hit critical spots, Explorers able to enable a temp shield that can reflect back bullets in a limited time, Haulers that can have 150% more health for 20 seconds, and Shuttles who can equip all of them except for fighter techs. Not only does hitting a critical spot make your opponent easier to kill, you can also hit specific techs located in their starship, damaging them and preventing them to be usable for a limited amount of time. This may make space battle a little more strategic and will make it more risky.
Sorry for the long text
Expedition 3 should start us deep inside a large cave network without a terrain manipulator
more in depth scaling and rotation snap point options for planting flowers
So I can place them anywhere on any surface at any angle
And for everything else ...
Oh if you want, I just want the flowers though lol
the lack of snap points on the basic structure pieces, for attaching objects, is more than a bit annoying.
It would be cool if there was a system in the Anomaly which let you store ships in there but while they are stored, they are deconstructed so you can't summon them unless you go back and switch it with your main 6 so this will allow you to own more than 6 ships but still keep you limited to 6 at a time.
This would also allow for future expeditions to also reward new cool ships since it's annoying having to scrap one of your mains just to get the new reward ship.
virtual grid together with floor that allows arbitrary object placement both at any height and angle, with the option to snap to grid vs. part snap points, enabling arbitrary part positioning with precise placement
An advanced play mode with planets with orbits, planetary rotation with variable day/nights and I'll be complete. I'd even pay for it in the first paid expansion.
Would LOVE to see customizable ship colors
Greetings fellow travellers!
I am playing NMS in VR occasionally and I'm looking forward to a VR revamp update at some point.
Over the time I noticed some shortcomings and things that could be done better.
So I started to compile a list of issues I encountered and a separate list of possible improvements.
I am aware that the developers probably have their own list, but I'd like to give them the best feedback I can.
What I'm looking for is a place to exchange experiences and ideas with other VR players in order to help Hello Games to make the bast game they can.
Please feel free to DM me at any time.
Maybe we can find a dedicated Discord channel or a Wiki page to focus our thoughts about the VR mode.
You know, I think if they did add ship customisation, it would nt be flat out easy. I suspect there might be bits of it locked behind quiksilver, maybe some of the colors? Maybe instead of individually painting bits of ships, we have to choose "color schemes", and they get locked behind quiksilver?
Something people may not have noticed but active storm on planets ARE visible from space. If the planet is shrouded in gray cloud, theres a storm on. You can wait in orbit of the world (about 80K u) and the storm will eventually clear, and you will be able to see the land and water.
But you need patience to do it as well, like waiting in orbit of the world for upto 10 minutes
ugh pls not quicksilver
For the most part all quicksilver unlocks do is show you can tolerate doing bland missions. They don't indicate that you've explored or anything
or, with the right mod, that sentinels are truly weak
Slides, the super tall mountain would have better use of their height for some fun activities other than driving ExoCraft off the cliff and base jumping
When you hold sprint up a sheer hillside/cliff face, I think it'd be nice if there was a clambering animation instead of just an awkward full stop.
Still have it consume stamina as you clamber up, but give us another option besides stop & start jetpacking or facegrinding the dirt while jetpacking up.
Apparently there's going to be a combat update, according to leaks (I take these leaks with a big grain of salt, but I'd suspect that it'd be implemented in some form, since it's been a very heavily requested feature). I wonder how a combat update would be done
An update to movement, combat and some big, pre-rendered alien cities on planets would really make the game feel alive and be my go-to game for years
I mean, scatter blaster or pulse spitter take care of sentinels in moments
and a fully moduled pulse spitter just -destroys- walkers
I'd assume a "combat update" would rebalance all the weaponry in the game as a priority, because otherwise it would be pointless, yes
Not sure how big cities would be much different from stations/archive buildings insofar as: here's a place with a bunch of vendors and some idle aliens pacing about, but 🤷
If there'd be something more to them, could be cool, but not even overly ambitious games have seemed to do much with actual cities
We have discovered through experimentation that large structures only work in a limited capacity before they start lagging out badly. Try building an extensive base around an archive and see how far you get before it starts taking ages to load and render, if it renders at all before crashing your computer. Theres limits on base building for a reason.
there are some.. .big structures
Oh my. a video mentined something. Maybe this core in the space stations, isn't actually for use.
Rather, maybe those are "locked down" and we will get to INSTALL one in dead stations.
Thereby giving you control of flight path, landing pad layout, what kind of "life" is in it
and the one players will most enjoy.. WHAT ITEMS IT SELLS, MAKING YOUR OWN ECONOMY
Imagine making a station, and going "okay, this is gonna be gek.. and now i can bring it items to build an economy, and i get money from that.."
Only if I can hold more units
You spelled ships wrong
I'll take that too!
it's so hard narrowing down to 6
There's no reason to get more units if there's nothing to spend them on
The most expensive thing in the game is 178 mil
I was saying that for what Pluto was saying for the space stations
I don't feel like reading all that can I have a tldr
converting dead stations and making the economy/life forms that inhabit it
Ah
thing is they basically added infinite money printers so they can't add anything to buy that couldn't be bought practically instantly
Yeah
just about the only reason we even have crap like nanites and quicksilver is 'cause they broke the economy within the first couple updates, lmao
Fix dupes, balance money by either make farms way worse or everything way more expensive then find a way to stop save editing
they can't stop save editing unless they actually fix bugs tho 😂
PC depends so hard on it to work around mission glitches & crashes losing progress
And if they make everything more expensive while also nerfing farms & mines then they'll have made the game worse by making it as grindy as other notoriously grindy games
they're kinda stuck tbh
Well for fixing save editing can't they (sorry if I'm wrlng idk much about this stuff) just move things like money or nanite counts to the servers instead of in files?
yeah and then the game becomes increasingly online only, which would suck in its own fun way (think about recent Anomaly issues)
imagine the game forgetting your currency balance 😬
And they need to find the balance between grindy and to easy
Which is hard of course
ye
I mean I imagine holding money counts would be super easy compared to the anomaly
Like 1 server could prob handle it
i know i rail on the timers but legitimately a way to shut down the infinite money printing issue at least in part would be to not have mines/farms continually extracting/growing even when not playing
I mean there's still things like cobalt crashing
And you just afk for a couple hours and bang
but you'd also need to sort out followup issues with situations like that, yeah, plus duping
And imo having to afk makes a game feel grindy
Yeah well, the econ stuff is tied in with the real-time stuff as well to a degree, but also they could really benefit on working out more interesting ways to make money so people wouldn't opt for those as much or something
or just i dunno, ditch the money stuff altogether and push everyone to scavenge and explore to get stuff
Yeah
There needs to be a manual, grindy, but really good way to get money
Like storm crystals but for late game players
problem is that as long as it's grindy people will seek out exploits like econ crashing and duping
i mean people understandably don't want to do worklike stuff in a game
It's a hard balance
personally speaking i would much rather they focus on making exploration more rewarding/interesting than trying to futz with balancing the economy.
like i would enjoy more ways to attain things not tied up in trading/farming/mining/crafting, as well as finding things that don't relate to any of those either. Objects that influence the environment in different ways, things unique to each biome that draw you in and reveal new insight into their ecosystem and such, and some things that just make each biome feel worth visiting for more than just some specific resources.
a small step in that direction would be making POIs biome-aware, so to speak, so that they take on certain distinct looks making them look like they've been in that biome awhile and had to adjust to it
excluding say, recently arrived POIs like crash sites with aliens present
or ones that are meant to stick out like they don't even fit there, e.g. Boundary Failures
I'd love to see a larger emphasis on combat, at least in terms of possibilities
ie freighter combat, large scale planet battles vs alien life rather than just sentinels
speaking of bugs, #nms-photomode-gallery
what is the most expensive thing in the game?
