I’d love to see some improvements to the corvette workshop like adding the ability to rotate pieces more freely as currently to rotate certain pieces you need to use exploits n stuff and not everyone knows how to do em or its just a hassle and some pieces would just look SO SO SO cool if we could have em in different orientations that the workshop for some reason just doesn’t allow currently

And would like to have the refiner limit per base increased
do you guys thing a tribute to outerwilds a fellow stylized space adventure should be added to no mans sky perhaps a hearthian ship or an aproximation of the outer wilds system example have a desert planet and a hot planet next to each other closely to be hourglass twins and other look alikes to fill out the others
or nomai inspired spacesuit
i wish i could speak to a dev about it see if it can be considered with coopperation from both studios
One thing I think the game REALLY needs is an inventory/UI update/overhaul
I mostly just play in creative mode and explore the universe because honestly the inventory system in this game stresses me out lol
!hg
Submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
You can address your ideas to the devs here
That's why they have a creative mode. I play on survival. THAT is low inventory space. You have to learn to prioritize.
if one system was based off outer wilds it would probably never be found
only 2% of all solar systems have been found
or somethin like that
Can put a portal to it in the anomaly for limited time mabie
We should be able to build bases on asteroids in the next update.
It would add a purpose to spacewalking aside from cool screenshots.
Or perhaps make repairing damaged components require you to go outside like real people on the ISS do.
It would have been more better if we could have the access to more interiors like sleeping in bed and yes if we could have blueprints for corvette and home design it would be easy.
To make bases on asteoids posible imo they need seperate systems for it bc how asteroid fields are coded.
we need to be able to
- rotate habs
- open up interior walls of side-by-side habs
i hope we can see more about autophage, i want to see system that controlled by autophage
They're hermits trying to hide from the atlas. It's doubtful, though now they have their own settlements so...who knows
this would be very nice
base NPCs including Corvette would be nice as well
i thought the beds implied a crew
Imagine if we had a separate multiplayer game mode where there would be a team deathmatch or smth like that, with real players and their squadrons.
Both team having a mothership/freighter which needs to be defended or else the game ends and the surviving mothership/freighter team wins
they need to upgrade pvp before this
frr lol
I've just written a huge message and sent it to Hello as feedback, throwing it in here too.
Some spitball ideas, feedback, and opinions from someone who last played about 8 years ago.
Corvettes
Amazing work. As someone with 15 minutes in a unity devkit, I know that implementint something like Corvettes into the game is a challenge. The fact that it's this good right out the gate is amazing, and seeing the progress Hello has made since I played in 2017, I know it's only getting better.
HOWEVER:
some limitations are unnecessary. For example, why not allow multiple cockpits? If there's a backend/code reason, however, disregard this.
Consider retouching the bounding boxes that determine whether a player is inside/outside the Corvette. Especially bad on stairwells. Also appears that standing on top of the Corvette is considered the same as standing inside.
Consider some more co-op mechanics for Corvettes. Maybe turrets teammates can man, a way for teammates to repair damage done to the Corvette mid-dogfight, or other things I haven't thought of yet.
Again, I think Corvettes are amazingly implemented, especially for a first pass at the idea, and especially considering where this game started.
Co-op/Survival
Hardcore survival
I know that there are already difficulty options in-game for these things, but I think the issue is that they only really effect the amount of time or caution needed to reach a goal. Functionally, the only diff between repairing a damaged launch thruster in Relaxed and Survival is the time spent looking for the necessary resources.
Localized Resources
I understand that resources all need to be possible to acquire on all planets to avoid essentially soft-lock scenarios, but I think that locking some resources to specific areas OF a planet could give cause for some more exploration beyond looking for a specific structure or item and then fucking off. As well, consider hiding the extent of resources available. Maybe only reveal the planet's dominant metal or something. Just spitballing.
CO-OP
The game's already got a strong foundation for co-op, especially with the way that the Anomaly and Nexus connect players. I touched on some ideas for expansion earlier, but consider also:
Clans/Guilds/whatever name you want to use. Basically, a group of players who all have joint access to each other's items, ships, and bases. Of course, some vetting and proper UI warnings are necessary, but I think more expensive Co-op would do this game well.
Also: private instances/closed inventory. I love that I can run into other Travellers in the world and on the anomaly, but as gracious as their generosity is, I prefer to remain unburdened by the six stacks of faecium I accumulate against my will in some Anomaly visits.
I'd like to reiterate that I'm a massive fan of what's been done so far and I plan to stick around and see what comes next. I love this game so far and I have nothing but faith in Hello's ability to continue making me love it more.
Not sure if anyone has suggested this in here recently, but what about procedurally generated faction cities on planets? So much like trader outposts and trade settlements, with player settlements being a possibility - what about randomaly generated faction cities. AFter the worlds update i'm assuming they have some kind of biome mechanic for planets in the game, and procedurally generated structures already exist.
Would be cool to see some genuinely large towns and cities in the game to make it feel more alive.
i think we need concrete base building part
this debate is like a whack-a-mole on this channel 😂 every month or so, someone would post 'they want cities', another person would be like 'it is difficult to implement because of engine limits' and another would be 'the lore is not supportive' then the cycle repeats.
Last time (think it was in early September or late August iirc) I started this debate following someone, now it is you, my friend XD ... perhaps in a few weeks, another person would carry the baton.
And yes, I feel you, cities add that much to the game but the engine struggles with the Colossal Archives themeselves... HG must improve the engine first, and I am sure they are working on that. We just need to keep giving feedback on Zendesk.
people have been asking for cities for... at least a decade at this point. Even before release that was one of the most requested features.
I still think settlements were Hello Games attempting a city update. They could be way better (especially if they ditched the dumb mobile game-esque mechanics and just had them as a good point of interest) but even then, they're pushing the engine pretty close to it's limit and have like 30 buildings max.
this makes sense, thank you for the information - i appreciate it!
I am sure an engine rework is on the horizon because for the speculated coming .....kzzt.... check #nms-spoilers please rework, an engine update would be necessary because that rework will probably end up breaking a lot of stuff
But yeah settlements first need to be improved, then we can think about full fledged cities... settlements are the perfect poster-child for the 'wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle' criticism.
It would be so cool if we could interact with more base parts, like beds (and medi-pods in corvette's). Medipods for example could heal a player
we need 20 squadron pilots instead 4
I hope the "recolour all parts" feature gets added to the base build menu as well (if it's not already there, I haven't really built a base since corvettes dropped lol)
imagine giant battles between the sentinels and your squadron
that would be fun
Squadrons also need a buff of some kind. I feel like they barely do anything to actually help, save for doing a little damage to keep enemy ships from regenerating their shields
Maybe not to a point where you don't even need to fight, but just enough to where they aren't just obstacles for YOU to avoid. Lol
Hear me out
The ability to take ownership of a Station / Building your own orbital station somewhere
i feel like that, plus perhaps maybe the ability to have like 2 or 3 frieghters to deploy from it would be insane
then modules for like, Frieghter production, More fighter space, etc etc
Call it something like 'RISING' and have first spawn maniacs do something
Id love a system that helps bring together settlement production, stations, and freighters more meaningfully.
Will there ever be living corvettes or capital ships ?
I would love to have a giant space leviathan like thouse from sc 2
Or just flying around in a space whale that isn't a frigate
No thanks. They get in the way and line of fire often enough
An expansion to the pipe system would be cool. Imagine we could send the output of an extractor to a refiner, and then to a numbered storage container so we can access it anywhere
PLS LET MY FRIAGTES AND FREIGHTER SHOOT SENTINALS PLS IM BEGGING YOU
Bro wants a fleet
Those are not built to land on planets, lol
Iv run into so many abandoned ones
honestly tho when is landing on asteroids gonna be a thing
that’s really the only feature that nms promised in 2015 and still hasn’t added
Combat frigates can assist you by deploying fighters if the fleet is in the same system as you (it only seems to do it sometimes though) If i remember correctly, some freighters (at least the pirate dreadnaught, not sure about other types) can fire at enemy starships with their cannons i think. Though i haven't seen it myself, i think i heard somewhere that if you get a sentinel capital ship to warp really close to your pirate dreadnaught, it can use the anti-freighter cannons to damage the sentinel ship once it's unshielded. (not entirely sure about that last part though, since i haven't seen it myself) But actual freighter vs freighter battles agianst sentinel dreadnaughts (or just other capital ships in general) would be cool
hope we can get no mans sky and helldivers crossover..
Bring back space stations siderooms pls
Good luck avoiding literally everything on the surface lol
man I've been loving it thing looks like a crazed pirate boat and I'm getting most of the drives ready! Had a good run! hope all is well!!
Freighters are too comically oversized to ever even enter planet atmospheres tbh. In order to add something like that Hello Games would need to shrink them to be at most a fifth of their current size
I like way bigger freighters
like, bigger than the smallest moons
even if such a size is exceedingly rare
could you imagine trying to fly a full scale pirate dreadnought or sentinal captial ship into a moon atmnosphere lmao
if it used realistic gravity, it would likely change the tides for the whole moon if it had liquid on its surface
at the very least
Speaking of the capital ship, can we get it to stop disappearing when we enter the atmosphere? There's no fix for that is there?
Aside from bug fixes, I'd want a forward dash for the jetpack, even just a short burst. I also think it would be really neat to be able to apply colour changes to your weapon beams like you can with your engine trails. Or change the engine glow like you can with freighters.
if you melee as you enable your jetpack, you can forward thrust
just gotta time it right
If you have a pirate dreadnought and your fighting sentinels in space it will shoot them
seconded, you just need to warp it close enough - sometimes it bugs out though
so you gotta be careful
True
Any freighter will attack any ship that shoots it a couple times first
That goes for ones owned by players and NPC ones, meaning if you bait the sentinel freighter into shooting your freighter, the two will end up shooting at each other and the sentinel one will be too busy to attack you
Do you think that in the future, will even Switch (1) players be able to build corvettes? It seems like all my hopes are slowly fading but there's no official news yet. Maybe there's still a chance that corvettes will be available for Switch (1), what do you think?
About 9 months ago, I posted this suggestion in a Reddit thread about what we wanted to see in 2025 for NMS. A friend of mine suggested I join and post it to Discord, saying it was more likely to get the Devs attention. It's a bit of a long read but, I hope the community and the devs find it intriguing and maybe, inspirational.
As, there appears to be a character limit for posts, I'll have to cut the post into parts.
Space Station/System Ownership & Management. (Part 1)
The ability to take ownership of and manage our own space station in an abandoned system and further, to restore the surrounding star system to an inhabited and lively one. 1 station/system per galaxy, per player. It's not like there's a shortage of them. 😛
First, we have to find an abandoned system and then, if we accept it, we have a long, long, and resource expensive road to both rebuilding the space station and eventually, rebuilding/repopulating the entire system.
The space station is just the first step. Taking custody of the station to begin refurbing it, unlocks access to all new plans for parts you'll have to fabricate to rebuild/refurb the station. Once the station is complete, you unlock plans and the ability to begin planetary rebuilding/repopulation.
To refurb a planet, you have to construct/restore 1 of each building type typically found on every planet. 1 Archive, 1 Trading Outpost, 1 Minor Settlement, 1 Observatory, 1 Transmission Tower, 1 Manufacturing Facility, 1 Communications Tower, 1 Shelter Camp ( I think that covers them all). When complete, that planet will automatically start generating more of each and become populated with appropriate NPCs as well as unlock settlements on that planet.
Space Station/System Ownership & Management. (Part 2)
As the entire system improves, the number of each of these things increases in availability on each completed planet. Only finished 1 planet in your system? Then only that planet has any of these facilities available and they are far and few between. Finished rebuilding the entire system? Throw a rock and find a facility. You get the picture. This process must be done for each individual planet to completely restore the system.
To save a little time, you can begin working on buildings on all planets simultaneously (if you have the resources that is) but, only 1 building can be built/worked on at a time, on each planet and only after 1 is complete can another be started on that planet. Of course, to build/complete any new piece of a build project, there is a time component too. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Basically, the settlement system is scaled up in complexity and scope to cover an entire star system. But, all of that really just speaks to Ownership. Where's the 'Management' come in?
Space Station/System Ownership & Management. (Part 3)
Easy, anything that can be built, can also be destroyed and since Pirates are a thing in NMS, random pirate attacks can happen anywhere in your system, prompting a communications message to you, giving you an opportunity to warp on over and defend the affected location, to prevent any damage or, at least reduce the damage and recovery/rebuilding costs.
Of course, as you're just starting out in this new system, it's conflict level will be the highest and it's economy will be the lowest but, as you continue to successfully fight off the Pirate hoards and rebuild the system, the economy improves and the conflict level decreases. Eventually, you could improve the system to a 3 star economy and conflict level of 1 but, despite Pirate attacks decreasing in frequency the better the system becomes, they never completely stop so, stay away to long, ignoring those cries for help and eventually, your system could fall back into complete ruin and abandonment.
But, build and maintain a high value, low conflict system and the units and nanites just keep coming in. I know, I know, it's not like it's hard to come by either units or nanites in the game as is but, this would be another, more immersive way to go about obtaining them both.
Ngl I really hope we eventually get a revamp focused on the species we have, like getting more lore, aliens getting more random dialogue (and something I've always wanted, you know how aliens sometimes seem to have interesting dialogue that you would be able to interact with? But you never can, even if you fully translate it. I wish we'd get some of that), increasing the variety of ruins would be pretty cool too!
Mmm I like most of what you said but I don't really like the idea of being tied to a system, what happens if I take a break from the game and come back a month later? The system would be ruined/abandoned again, after everything I did?
I think it'd be better if there were a limit to how much pirates can hurt the system, or maybe have something like the ability to "rent" sentinels or something, where they'll defend the system for a certain amount of time?
It could be pretty expensive too so the multi-billionaire players can actually use their infinite wealth for something lmao
@strong sail Yes, understanding we all take breaks now and again, as we should, it would be very disappointing to lose all the progress once made. Perhaps instead then, once you have completed the rebuild of the entire system, it's now locked in and no longer susceptible to damage or degradation. In that way, we strike a balance between providing incentive to keep working towards a true end to the goal but, also consequences to giving up or stepping away for to long before reaching the finish. And, just as we all have our names immortalized with the various star systems and planets we've discovered during our time in the galaxies, once we completely rebuild a once abandoned star system, that too becomes forever bound to our name. Maybe with some kind of unique identifier in the system details, denoting it is a system that was rebuilt by player <insert name>.
The switch one didn't get corvettes because it's just not powerful enough, even my steam deck sometimes blackscreens when building big corvettes
Yeah that'd be pretty cool too!!
Hello Games has a lot of potential to expand on many different mechanics and systems ngl
So many things they could work on
Combat is the least fleshed out system in the entire game. Hopefully it’s next!
Maybe the animals/pets system is less, but that needs more too!
Yeah, sentinels are boring and space combat is easy
I would like an anima update, have them more life like and harder to kill
Boarding enemy corvettes would be so good but idk how that would work at all. I think combat will be bigger in LNF and those will be our next updates.
Hopefully
I mean like some starwars level stuff where two freighters board and you fight the crew
Some combat update ideas:
New Damage System
- Weapon damage types split into energy, kinetic and possibly melee?
- Additional damage types come from hazards (toxic, radiation, heat, etc.)
- 3 HP types - normal HP, carapace/armour and shields
- Carapace takes less damage from energy
- Shields take less damage from ballistic
- Normal HP takes extra damage from melee
- Different exosuit modules can provide these HP types in different capacities
- Enemies will now have these new HP types, allowing the player to adapt their loadout to deal with them accordingly
Boarding Parties
- Can now board enemy freighters and fight enemy crews once their shields are down
- Enemies will now attempt to do the same to your freighter
Freighter Loadouts
- Can equip your freighter with a variety of modules that can make it more combat ready, or make it grant the Traveller passive bonuses on the surface, etc. Examples:
- Various turrets/weapons (e.g. huge laser cannons, rapid-fire kinetic batteries)
- Those torpedoes you have to shoot down when fighting pirate ddreadnoughts
- Bonus shielding
- Passive auras (e.g. increasing firerate of nearby ally ships/frigates)
- Surface Teleporter - gives your freighter the ability to beam some crew members down to the planet's surface to help the Traveller in ground combat.
- Autominer - can target mineral deposits to make the freighter auto-mine them from space and store on board
Hack and Slash
- New melee weapons on multitools (e.g. a bayonet, an energy sword, etc.) allow players to get up close and personal with enemies!
Horror Hives
- New type of Biological Horror colony found on dead and infested worlds - Horrors are aggressive, meaning that they will attack nearby players even if no Whispering Eggs have been destroyed.
- Large 'hive' structure at the centre of such colonies - make it to the middle to extract very valuable rewards!
I doubt this could ever happen but one can dream
Raiding other freighters would be amazing
we just need to be able to fight non starship attackers other than sentinels
These forums are so busy it's hard to keep up - is there anything about some form of landing pad or dedicated tether for the corvette at a base (ie: the teleport to corvette will go HERE), so that it doesn't keep clipping into the base all the time when I teleport in?
My only query on this is, are we deciding which race lives in our personal system(s)
People have probably suggested this but Corvette combat stations would be insane. You could have friends join you and man some weapon station, maybe up to three or four. If you don't want to play online or can't you could hire NPCs like for your squadron and such
You could also hire NPCs to cook at your nutrition unit or work at the Corvette medi-pod and they could heal you or something. Idk I just want more Corvette functions and stuff. You would have to have enough crew berths for everyone you hire.
Would probably need a higher build limit to corvettes with all that stuff
Two words... "Fleet Battle"
Let's say, you've taken out 10 dreadnaughts. The pirates have had enough of your s*** and decide to take you out. You get a radio transmission after a warp where your admiral says they detected on a deep-space scan that pirates have assembled a fleet and sent them after your fleet.
Depending on how many frigates you have, decide how many the pirates have. If they're class A or S the opposing frigate in the pirate fleet is taken out on arrival. Otherwise ya gotta fight that one. You and your squadron must then fight your way through the remaining frigates and their escort fighters all while running interferance from the dreadnaught missiles every so often. Once you've fought through, the standard dreadnaught battle kicks off except it's your ships being targeted by the missiles and cannons.
There is no surrender here. If you take out the pirates, you get loot and the pirates limp home for a good while. If you lose, your fleet is damaged and the time before the next assault is shorter as they are chasing you down to finish the job. This timer can increase with longer warp jumps with the possibilty of losing the pirate fleet if you go far enough fast enough, or go through a blackhole.
Other than manning turrets, what multicrew features could you see being added to Corvettes?
Not much bc there are no game loops/ features that would give them purpouse .
After the impressive Voyagers update, I’d love to see some of these changes. If any of them resonate with you too, share them around, folks — no need to agree with all of them!
Text signs and lettering: The ability to create and place custom signs or plaques in bases. After ten years, we still have communicators that can’t be removed and don’t work as proper signs. I’d like to name my brewery where I meet my friends, or label a library — simple things that make bases feel alive.
Galaxy map access: The possibility to view the galaxy map directly from the exosuit or via a console or table, without needing to enter a ship every time.
Fix the Portable Refiner duplication bug: This issue impacts the in-game economy built on supply and demand. When duplication is exploited, it breaks trading balance and discourages legitimate commerce.
Player-to-player trading: A dedicated trade menu where both parties confirm before the exchange occurs — a minimal but essential multiplayer feature.
Multiplayer experience improvements: Better synchronization for ships, bases, and NPCs. When things fail to render properly, immersion disappears instantly, even when playing with friends.
A player city: Similar to controlled instances in games like Fallout 76, players could meet in a larger, grounded city hub beyond the Anomaly. A place designed for interaction and exploration, without the overlapping ship issues seen in the Anomaly.
Immersive player spaces: Since NMS is about exploring societies, players should also have access to more stable and immersive spaces to socialize, interact, and build communities without immersion-breaking bugs.
(For those concerned with the “core concept” of NMS, here’s the thing: it’s a game about exploration… but exploration of societies as well. Most planets have their own societies. There’s no reason why players themselves shouldn’t have well-crafted, immersive spaces to meet, interact, and socialize—without the bugs or visual issues that break immersion.)
As a developer, I understand how much effort these features can take. But a team capable of creating something as fantastic as the Voyagers update can also refine smaller details that make the experience even more immersive. Right now, due to certain bugs and limitations, it sometimes still feels like playing alone — even with friends.
No reason to fix dupe glitches when economy balance was thrown out the window looong ago. Besides that u can set prices to free in options. Imo duping does not change much. Maybe saves time for some that dont like to grind. Dont like dupe glitches? Dont use them.
From my experience, every player who gives this answer can’t actually play without the glitch, lol. The thing is, this goes way beyond just skipping a bit of grinding. No Man’s Sky only feels real—the trading, the building, the discovering—when what you find and trade actually means something.
With dupe glitches all over, that meaning disappears. Why build a cool trading base or scout trading routes if anyone can just copy everything? The foundations of the game’s trading and economy get wrecked, and anyone looking for that deeper challenge or trying to run a serious market feels like their time is wasted. It’s not as simple as “just don’t use exploits”—if the system stays broken, it breaks the whole vibe for everyone who wants the universe to actually feel alive.
For a lot of us, immersion is what makes NMS special. Cheating everywhere just drains the fun out of working for upgrades, finding rare stuff, and building with friends. Look, nothing wrong with playing on easy if that’s what someone prefers! But maybe this kind of stuff should just be an option in separate game modes. That way people who want everything handed to them can play how they want, while those of us chasing a more immersive challenge still get a universe with real stakes.
I played over 1500h total without duping. On multiple saves. I did everyhting in the game and now in my case im just bored of griding. For me duping just saves me my limited time to play. Economy is wrecked and was wrecked long ago and is wrecked by design ( infinite resources ) when u can get dozens of milions on first gameplay hour. Bone /scrap digging , Sentinel scraping for example or even getting dozens of milions per animal scan in late game. Fixing duping would not change anything. Pc players will still use duping / save editing/ cheating in any game mode. And there is nothing HG can do to change it. They dont have the resources to moderate and catch cheaters. If anything it would only make more diffrences between consoles and PC platforms. When everyone can dupe everyone are more " equal " or on " even ground " , have same "toys" . That imo the best way u can handle cheats. If suddenly all cheating was fixed, almost instantly new cheat engines would be made. There are other modes for pepole that want more challenge. If u want deeper challenge just set difficulty to max and let others play with cheats if they want. U can rolepaly as traders with friends that also will decide not to use duping if u want and noone will stop u.
NMS is not that serious about multiplayer
Never will be but like many things in this game some features could use some polishing
everytime i cheating, i just make some story in my head, like im praying to atlas to give me a ship, and atlas give me a ship for free. or i imagine i have rich friend, my friend is the richest guy in the know universe, and he give me billions of units
if immersive experience is just a perception, i just change the perception
but if we just using imagination, i dont even need to play NMS or any games, i just close my eye and experience the universe in my mind
Are there plans for fixing resources not being removed by newly spawned settlements? I was trying to find a way to mod this away, but seems it isn't possible due to settlements generating in after resource spawns. Or something like that.
I really don't get this argument, duping is obviously a bug, why should they not patch it? Using mods or setting purchases to free are supported, intended options in the game.
Look at Minecraft for comparison. Mods and commands are supported forms of "cheating", but Mojang actively patch any duping exploits that come up, because making sure your game mechanics work as intended is the bare minimum of maintaining a game lol
Don't get me wrong, HG also really need to do a major economy rebalance where they nerf the biggest money making methods and buff some of the less lucrative ones
I want to explore the world of glass
In my opinion, there’s a difference between glitches and cheaters. Like @shadow dagger said: if I have the chance to fix a bug, why wouldn’t I do it? Cheaters exist in every game and always will. That’s just a fact. But that’s no excuse for such a beloved game with so much potential left to still have the basics broken. Bugs and glitches, basic features like player trading and signs for writing—these are the things that really boost immersion.
I always put immersion first. And I think about every way to make multiplayer smoother and more fun. Because in the end, that’s what keeps people coming back—exploring and building together.
If after that some people still wanna glitch or cheat, that’s their problem. Meanwhile, the game should work properly for everyone else to enjoy and feel like the universe is alive.
Like i said earlier. Dupe glitch works more as equilizer between platforms. I agree that balance fix is needed but fixing duping will solve nothing.
Since abandoned systems do still have racial identifiers associated with them, I thought to simply leave that as the dominant race for that system. So if you want korvax to be the dominant race you simply find an abandoned system once populated by the Korvax and rebuild it.
Id prefer autophage tbh lol
I'd love to see a system that was predominantly Autophage. Maybe make that a possibility in purple systems only.
Purple is lifeless and since it is the colour of atlantideum and the source of the autophage resurrection from atlantid, it makes sense Purple stars would be the dominant star systems for phage
I want more autophage stuff
Are you one of us? A phage player? Lol
In multiple saves my character is by and large, Autophage. With freighter construction coming, I hope to be able to build an Autophage freighter. Basically, a flying scrap heap. 😋🤣
I’m full phage all the way I love those adorable crystal robo boys with all my heart. ;~;
As am I, trying to create a colony, lighthawk in this server is also a phage, he's joined me on the homeworld I wanna see become a phage world lol
It would be cool for multiple players to work on one big freighter like we can build starships and Corvettes single but for multiplayer I had a kind of mode where we can build and mod one together and all of this could drive it together working certain aspects of it like the essence of a Star Trek ship
scanning capabilities maybe
misc. "maintenance?"
Frigate fuel usage per lightyear would be cool
i hope they add micro build grid snap to make builds way easier
i feel like more could be done with frigates
docking station on corvettes like the freighter has. just be such a nice feature especially in group play. cause all 4 could have their ships in there. some sort or portable shop or a shop feature on a corvette that when landed people can come and buy things from your " sales " inventory for either units or materials that theyd want to charge for it.
You know what we need for those deep ocean planets, boats, jet sky's and surfboards
I could see boats happening, Sean mentioned having them in LNF in the corvette update deepdive video
on that note, naval battles with sea pirates on planet oceans would be cool
i don't know if someone said something similar but what a cool Addition for the new eva mechanic would something similar to the archwing or other forms of jetpack Upgrades what would enhance the eva mobility and could give rise to new form of mission types
Id love to see us be able to build and name our own autophage using a customisation thing like what we use to customise ourselves but for npc autophage and being able to assign them to live in any of our bases we set up, which I suppose such a thing could allow us to make and one of the races, would be fun for some to fill their bases with the anomaly or traveller races too but mainly its be between the 4 normal races we see in game
Along more shapes for corvettes, would be cool type of "gravity lift" (like the UFOs tractor beam or the Phantom from Halo) as a way to enter the corvette, unlike the vertical lift we already have there wouldnt be a platform to stand on, but it could have an extended range to lift or lower a player
They do that in settlements
Ngl, I wouldn't mind a complete universe overhaul again, if it meant even more varied planets with the lnf tech
I'd love the ability to turns lights off in Corvette habs and base habs (permanently or temporarily) so the little lights can be seen. Like the red and green buildable lights
they do tweak alot sometimes
settlements could definitely use a overhaul
or a big update atleast
Settlements have some bugs to be fixed thats for sure
Settlemens already had overhaul with beacons update so dont expect another one soon
Yeah, like the construction stuff staying after upgrading a building to b-class
Or the construction site terminal being none existant
I just want signs that you can write and put a nice logo in my tavern, street names, etc. Just it. No mods, no glitchs. Sign letters! Please god please
Nms txt letters!
Only in the alien script, lol
i can't decide whether I want real text or alien text on my Corvette
like it's very obviously just a reskinned latin alphabet
but idk alienscript doesn't speak to me like a script I can understand
imagine the Normandy had alien symbols instead of "NORMANDY"
doesn't hit the same
otoh immersion
Will we ever get an inverted windshield for corvettes?
So far most cockpits are shaped like **\
But I think it would be cool to see a cockpit shaped like _/
let’s hope so
I generally wish we got at least a couple more corvette parts
we will and i doubt that's even a question
considering that some big smarts had already datamined some unreleased corvette parts from the game and that there's simply too few parts, we will for sure
I don't know how it would work, but i would want to put a freighter bridge and giant rooms on my corvette. again, don't know how it would work, and it would be extremely hard but it's just a wish.
also, will you guys be adding a drop pod room or a mech drop room to the freighter?
we really do need some bigger rooms, i wish i could put some dino skeletons in my corvette but the ceiling is just too low for that, even a protoform skeleton barely fits
and this is a fan server, there are no devs here
it's not thier official Server?
yeah
ok i didn't know that do they have a official Server?
unfortunately they don't, but they got a zendisk website if you're looking for a place to leave suggestions at
this channel is just for spitballing
ah ok thx
This is like officially unofficial
The NMS website still redirects to this server as their Discord
But HG doesn't want to get involved directly
That's why they have left it to the volunteer staff
ok thx someone told me already
oh, i didn't know that
did this server like open up first and then HG discovered it or did they create it and left?
Probably the senior mods will know but best to DM them; the channel is already going off topic 😅
aight, thanks though
that's really interesting
This server is made by community for community
There are definitely HG employees lurking in this server but they are under no obligation to read anything posted here
From what I understand they may not be allowed to actually interact with the community either, per their NDAs
Imo more than NDA is more about not to stick out bc they would be floded instantly with " pls add, plx fix, pls gib " etc. (In best case scenario)
oh
we already have the jetpack from this cover art, so why not give us the rest of this outfit?
I wish we weren't limited by less than the max words overall for each of the species, I wanted all 1135 words of the autophage but its limited to 889 words out of...ridiculous
Wait seriously? Fluency is impossible?
Yea you cant get all the words 1135 autophage words and can only get 889, its the same with the other races too
Man thats lame. I guess it makes it so you have to use one of the translator exosuit upgrades
Theres also some words you cant apparently get but are still unlocked in the form of word groups, but even accounting for those, theres still some missing
Like when you learn a word with multiple tenses, you learn all the tenses, not just one
I had to search it up cause I spoke to about 6 to 8 autophage and requested new words and offered assistance to them for words and it kept coming up with nothing new learned
No Man's Yankee with no Brim
maybe they scrapped the outfit because it looks too casual? That'd be my guess anyway. From the back it looks like baggy streetware, not really anything highly technologically advanced space travellers would wear
possibly, but i mean we have bug shells, raggedy ponchos, literal rocks as clothing options. i dont think its too far fetched for us to wear a nice jacket
Since it's a commissioned piece, it's pretty likely no one at Hello Games has any idea what the rest of the outfit is supposed to look like. The backpack and boots are clearly visible but the rest is totally vague so it makes sense they would just do the backpack
but yeah, I'd love to see customization options more like that.
I always thought it was funny that this guy, from the early reviewer's press kit cover art, looks just like the actual traveller player models we ended up getting.
Since capturing and collecting creatures has already been implemented, I think it'd be cool for there to be a battle system, where we can send out our favorite alien fauna to fight other fauna for exp
Bro i want to see in game real war like we can see number of conflicts but i want see in real time how other race fighting with other races in real time and we can select the side (sorry for my english)
And we have robots enemy in planet but where's npc enemy like pirate in planet who take control and build outpost
I think HG is currently stuck between a rock and a hard place. They should follow up on the corvette update with something that ties into them in some fashion, even if its just an expedition (give us the missing turret types) but at the same time if they do then that's the third update this year that has excluded Switch 1. I wonder if we'll see a bit of a hiatus after the expedition ends if they haven't figured out a way to bring something of the voyagers update to Switch 1, even if its just expedition rewards.
I don't think we'll see another update this year. Maybe they'll take the time leading up to their holidays to try and get something working on switch and drop it right when they're back in the office? Though I'm not optimistic about that platform getting big features going forward
You are probably right, tho I don't think HG has ever missed putting something halloween themed during the season at least more recently? I am trying to think if they have.
I mean considering Corvettes open up a lot of doors to new content, it also excludes Switch 1 rn from anything that comes out of it as well.
I feel we could see an expedition maybe? Or perhaps they'll start the reduxes by bringing back one of the halloween themed ones like the cursed or emergence?
Hmm, they've only missed 2023 since they started halloween updates
well, one or two were just normal updates around halloween
So maybe there still will be something
I wish we had a way of seeing how many people have visited your bases... Also a way of perhaps showcasing your bases at the anomaly so people have a reason to visit, like an advert or something?
Also being able to leave and receive gifts/donations from say a box/locker in your base.
I'd also like a way of showcasing screenshots, perhaps as a picture frame?
What do you think such a freighter update could look like?
Freighter sepecializations with special perks simliar to frigates and more variety
Carrier- more ship slots, big hangar for 4 corvettes
Tanker- more cargo slots , higher item stacks
Galeon- higher fleet stats, can do more frigate missions with better rewards
Solar freighter- sails baby! For real space sailors! Also lower jump and frigate fuel consumption
Living freighter- simliar alien loking design to living ship , can heal damaged ships over time
Exotic freighter- drip , swag, luxury look
Crusier- higher jump range from other freighter types
All freighters with own freighter base parts design.
All freighter come in 3 sizes simliar to venator/sentinel freighters.
Thats my idea for freighter update
- would be an absolute amazing little feature to allow * bug helmets, armored gek, and alien heads able to be used on other life forms* i'm just being selfish cause i really wanna put the lizard mask on a gek body
Does it only show one option for a type of word to learn?
Because thats how i found out that I'm "close" to learning most of the vy'keen language
I only have the option of "mystery word" now, lol
Yea, mystery is all that remains
I still need letters, signs to build my city. ¬¬
I'd like to see an expansion to the corvette system.
Things like exposed decks, larger open-plan hab modules,
Turrets for your friends to operate mid-flight, if you wanna get real crazy, maybe even the ability to use ground-base parts for corvette construction (Obviously, You'd still need all the prerequisite corvette parts.)
NMS but it’s like Star Wars: Empire At War
With the dead silence on the Switch 1 issue (currently we're still stuck at 5.75 dressed as 6.05 with zero 6.0 features at all)... I'm wondering if we're looking at another special Switch 1 alternative release like with the offline Nexus and non-settlement Trace of a Metal.
Nexus and Trace of Metal were missing from the Switch 1 launch and triggered a lot of complaints. Like now, HG also said nothing... but a few months later, released a special Switch only offline Nexus and non-settlements version of Trace of Metal with Fractal. It's a very similar situation, so I'm thinking they're figuring out a middle ground?
i dont know how you'd even make this work well so I can't say I expect it, but being able to make "dynamic" wings that move when you land and take off, or are controllable from the cockpit would be really cool and open up asymmetrical shipmaking even more.
Also, being able to make more complex ship layouts via hallways and more open-concept interior cells would be really nice, so you can more accurately build the interiors of ships like the milennium falcon for instance
Tbh I want broken funny protals that work on random rng it can either spit you out to next planet or 5,000 lightyears away on another planet.
black holes already do that tho
do you guys think hello games will ever open full mod support?
No, they don't have the manpower to deal with all the wacky shit people do with mods
Plus its not in their financial interest to open the game more for mods, allowing people to probe it and create competing products
i want living exosuits it's all i want what do i need to do to get this i will sacrifice everything if i have to pls pls pls

You are probably right, though how they will add the expedition rewards is a tricky one as they can't just add them to the quicksilver store without messing with the synchronisation with other platforms. Hopefully whatever they add next is kind of corvette adjacent? As in its meant to be experienced through the corvette, but can be done without.
They definitely at least need to add very basic things like the space walking because that will probably be part of other updates, and so I can see them adding the ability to spacewalk out of any spaceship.
I hope they do something, even if its just something small. It feels like we ought to have one more update before the redux. There's been a lot of stalling for releases this year: beacons to coincide with Switch 2 launch, and I suppose Voyagers because it was quite a significant change that needed lots of playtesting.
I hope it's not freighters next, as I feel there's quite a few areas for improvement that are beyond the scope of a smaller update that we can expect after something as huge as Voyagers. I think the hangar needs a complete rework (tho they've done a small model change to that recently which would be wasted effort if they were just about to radically change it.) And the bridge could do with a complete reworking too. Right now the bridge has been hacked up and moved around so much that i am pretty sure there is still collision for a flight of stairs that doesn't exist anymore?
We still need text signs and letters so we can welcome visitors to our bases (cities) without using that current communicator thing — it can’t be removed and it keeps flashing all the time. Also, we could really use better inventory organizers. Everyone’s got tons of stuff! Basically, just some quality-of-life basics. I love NMS, but there are so many little things that could make it way smoother.
Just a suggestion: ring worlds
!hg
Submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Don't we have planets with rings already?
Not in purple systems it seems
No i mean ring worlds as in the ones from the movie “Elysium”
The one in that movie was a space station which we already have in game 🤔
But yeah those would be cool though
Halo rings ( minus the super weapon ofc)
Living stone multitools that look like this
The only one we have is an expedition staff. But itd be funny.
Make a living stone plinth PoI that you can sacrifice those stone thingy cores to open and check their tool
Monolith mt look simliar . they just dont have that sandstone rocky look
What if when out of our ships in space we could use are multi tools still
Then mine astoroids more delacitly for uneek resources or higher chance or rare ones
I'd like to be able to interact with some of the anomalies more. I ran into a numbers station and i got out just to scoot around it.
Multitool should have a built-in holographic projector. I like portable wonder projector.
Also, maybe it is time to confront that one impostor!
How about super rare fauna/flora? with a grading system like the fishing system? with maybe some collectibe unique rewards/cosmetics for scanning X amount.... Each system could have a tiny % of rolling one depending on star class.... Maybe each star type has a chance of spawning their own type of creatures.... but not always. Make them really rare and unique rather than the standard flora/fauna we get....
And to have the ability to take out walls between habs so we can merge them into larger spaces ❤️
or a version of a hab like the cuboid rooms that just merge into one full room of whatever shape we decide to make.
Then some internal structures for them like gangways, railings, stairs, doors, walls, etc.
I would love to see some .ore life forms/races.
I would like to see abandoned cities
Like , skyscrapers and what not
Ruined cities that look like earth kinda but post apocalypse
More then just outposts and trading bases
I heard that expeditions that happened during the year get replayed around this time is that true?
Closer to the end of November but yes, Hello Games will run shorter versions of all this year's expeditions over the holidays
Honestly I wonder if we'll get multi layer freighter rooms or that style of building for Corvette Habs
in general, Freighters to me have felt kinda untouched since Endurance tbh
Endurance was good, but it only rennovated the interiors mostly
I feel we need new freighter types since the only one we've gotten in literal years was the Pirate Dreadnought
I'm feeling somewhat optimistic for an Endurance 2 type update next year. They can do a nice freighter update by upping the detail on all the existing parts, bring some new freighter mechanics in (IYKYK) and do a bunch of space stuff to work with the new EVA system.
I feel like we might get something like a new type of frieghter tbh
I have three suggestions:
There should be a way to auto-pilot a corvette to (and maintain) a set altitude above a planet.
In the UI, players should be able to maintain their current altitude, as well as auto-fly up/down to labelled calculated heights (e.g.: suborbital height limit, terrestrial building height).
This functionality could be used as developmental scaffold for orbital player bases, by later adding a range of heights permitted for orbital bases. There's a good number of existing bases which are already designed as orbital bases (by cheesing the way base building height limits work), so the desire to be able to make orbit bases is apparent.
Thirdly, Wormholes. A wormhole would be like an artificial black hole, and would functionally be a teleporter, but with 5 major differences:
- Size; large enough for a starship or corvette to pass through
2: Usage; only transports starships/corvettes, not a player without ship.
3: Predefined Point-to-point; you would setup the destination before passing through with your ship
4: Placement; The size of the wormhole structure means orbital bases would be the only feasible place for them.
5: Cost; Such a large construction would require more raw materials.
Are we able to get all of the rewards from them or only some?
I think that more in depth animal content could be cool.
Better breeding, harvesting for different materials, etc.
We could have specific parts for a farm, like paddocks, stables, drinking and eating troughs, material harvesting stations like milking a cow.
We could also have side quests where we have to breed an animal for an NPC who needs a new milk cow or something
The fossil dude in the space station trades fossils and a new station could be trading animals and animal products/food for the animals
And different buildings on planets could be farms that have crops and livestock
Will be all the same rewards, just slightly easier to accomplish the milestones
Nitpick: there’s no such thing as an orbit in no man’s sky; “orbital” and “suborbital” don’t really apply. technically you are always in suborbital flight
We need this. Companions should also provide passive bonuses when chosen to follow you. Who doesn't want pokemon in nms
i wish they make the lod render tech have smoother transition from nearby to far views. i mean the lod terrain is still very immersion breaking.
firstly they need to make the pets be more present after spawning them, they despawn really easily and you have to resummon them every 5 mins
I'm less interested in the pets side, but more interested in the rarity stuff i mentioned earlier. Like exceptionally rare creatures that only have a tiny % chance of spawning, maybe star colour dependent (to encourage exploration) with rewards, cosmetics etc for finding them...
Maybe some new multitool function ideas?
Multiswords
Maybe some extra functions that links to the nemesis of the Atlas?
If we get the expedition for that topic tho.
Also, a cool one.
Atlantid Shield Dome. Using your multitool to generate a semi-large energy dome that blocks projectiles and prevent things from coming inside. Drain energy like cloaking device and it uses atlantideum or radiant shard as fuel or maybe a new resource that connects to the One better.
The Shield is in purple. Looking like a hologram. Maybe there are modules to upgrades, maybe not. Maybe and just maybe, a cloaking upgrade module that allows players to be cloaked while standing inside the dome.
I'd kill for more exotic ship types also.
being able to select multiple pieces in the corvette editor to move them would be nice imho
So what do y'all think about the 🚪?
Get ready for A lot of knock knock jokes
Copying and pasting entire sections so you can make ships faster would be great
Same with it keeping all the decorations you put down if you move a hab or walkway
That would be great
So what do we think this "door" update is gonna be? Lol
A fix for the hatches 😄
Im thinking theyre gonna pull a curve ball and do some dungeon style exploration stuff on planets lol
Wouldn't say no to those.
Lay it out sorta like derelicts with random seeds
Free cam while decorating a ship's exterior would be at the top of my current list.
And an end boss 😄
There's some speculation it could be Light No Fire news because of the song "Light My Fire" by The Doors interesting Sean shared art after that too of No Man's Sky...
Even more interesting he buried the door icon with retweets of some Corvette Designs. Something happening there.
Yeah, it's called tinfoil hats
Maybe a built-in portal device in our multitools?
now, I know he's been posting a lot of glitch-built designs since corvettes drop, but I really want this to mean they've loosened up the building restrictions and added more granularity to corvettes to make designs like them easier
Perhaps a factions or alliances feature so that people that play together can establish who is friendly and who isn’t.
let me be a plant man please i beg, i wanna pull up to the function with a flower for a head
Tbh that does sound likely for a future update
Though current plant man is the helios head, lol
The game desperately needs a combat & multiplayer update. Also better quicksilver missions and rewards. Give us more enemy types, getting bored of fighting sentinels and abysal horrors.
i'd like a corvette part that allows me to carry exocrafts so i can airdrop my friend onto a sentinel boundary tower using my pelican
Agree for the multiplayer update, and i think we gonna have it soon because they need to test the new netcode for light no fire, in no man sky
door rhymes with floor, so maybe we will get new floooora
bruhhh XD
lol
it also rhymes with core, maybe we will be able to dig to the core of the planets?
since he did bacon/beacon last time
every planet in Euclid probably will end up like Korvax Prime if that happens loll
Gotta be something related to... actually let's talk about update speculation in #nms-spoilers , this is a future channel anyway
I quite like the idea of 'core'. It could be a cave biome update as that would be the last thing left untouched by the worlds updates.
Not sure they would let us burrow all the way to the core, but they could drop bedrock and add more deeper cave biomes, that would be additive to planets and not interfere too much with existing bases.
Doors can be ajar.
A jar holds stuff.
What else holds stuff? That's right, a freighter.
But we already have freighters. Yes but we are getting a freighter revamp
More room types, being able to pilot them, etc.
I'm more interested in piloting now, if only we get to install weapons on em too
In NMS VR a mixed control mode to where I can look around how I would in VR but instead of using motion controllers and tracking you could use a regular controller and control regularly, that way you can chill and play and still appreciate the immersion and scale, also I’d assume not having tracking toggled the game would run better
You can do that already
I need a combat update so bad 🙏 this game has so much potential for combat in space and on land, as well as actually having wars going on in “at war” systems where you could intervene and stuff. Would be awesome to see more sentinel corruption/control on planets, such as orbital defences and cities/fortresses from their world of glass. Could also have community driven events similar to expeditions but for example you could go save a system from complete sentinel control. There’s a lot of potential combat immersion and depth that I think a lot of players would enjoy, and it would give players something to do after completing all the quest lines and pretty much anything else they can do.
If u are looking for space war game nms is not it.
it’s got stuff for combat but no combat, i’m just saying it should be utilized somehow
This has probably been mentioned but basic hatchway/doors for Corvettes and landing pads. It would be so sweet to fly to a planet and then hop into a smaller ship for easier atmospheric exploration. Sounds like this is about to be a thing with Freighters but still would be cool for Corvettes on the smaller scale.
Here's my predication: I mentioned a few days back how its odd that the last expedition had a community objective that once we hit 100% did nothing. That particular objective involved a changeup to the usual planetary rendezvous with a different one. What was the change? The Space Station Core. Door = Core.
I think this small update will see the repercussions of us synching our memories with the space station cores which will do something to them. Maybe we'll finally see a use for station overrides? Probably not for space station ownership like people hope, but i have a feeling that was never the plan otherwise they wouldn't have let one accidentally slip once as an expedition reward that was purely planetary.
And the double meaning could be that taking over certain space station/systems is the VM's doorway into our realm. HG has loved to play off 'picking sides' like in the singularity expedition, maybe the systems are about to be divded between the atlas and the void mother?
i yearn for something OTHER than ladders
Door means the end. Hallways, rooms, they're cancelling NMS and shutting it down!
Not this again 😂💀💀
It’s true! What’s at the end of a room, hallway, store, whatever? A door!!!!!🚪
a wall maybe
a nice picture on the wall and an end table
Door can be an enter, so the door is the enter to lnf, lnf link to no man sky condirmed
door = DLC, your money is the key!!!!! (real) (no lie)
SENTINEL FREIGHTER
Door means knock knock. Trick or treat! Halloween expedition incoming. Cursed 2?
I wouldn't mind a cursed 2 ❤️ It would be fun if the time dilation and spooky jellies were part of an alternate dimension we had to do excursions into through tears in space.
So they became this almost roguelike dive into a dimension to try and leave with as much valuable loot as you could. Maybe reintroduce the leviathan's 'loot crate' style tech as rewards you have to exflitrate with?
Desolation2 ? The og literal haloween update
Don't give me hope. Derelicts are like the best content that's on the cusp of being great.
The atmosphere and immersion is unrivalled. But it doesn't take many derelicts for them to feel samey. And it would only take a few small spanners in the works to make each one feel more distinct.
They need some variables to switch up how you interact with them: Some where a countdown starts to self-destruct the moment the airlock opens. Some where the air is thick with pollution and you have to use innoculation stations instead of heaters. Toxic pipes spewing gas, fires still roaring on some, red flashing warning lights or thick green filter to make each one feel more distinct. The air thick with pollen particles, or a hazy effect on hot and fiery burning derelicts.

Pfft they ask for too much details, if you could make anonymous requests i would.
To much? Lol u should see the nms coordinare exchange posting reqirements
I dread to think!
I think with all the narrative threads leading to VM and the realm of glass, its safe to assume the door is some kind of portal/tear/gateway for either us to go to the realm of glass, or for something to come out from it.
The realm of glass is said to be beautiful and deadly, but since its also the sentinel's backing up the galaxy, surely it would be a carbon copy of the current galaxies? From a design perspective that would make it much easier to implement. If its just a carbon copy of whatever system you're in with some unique skyboxes and effects to distinguish it from regular space?
The other more greedy read of the door is that we are finally! getting planetary dungeons.
I'd say that's too big of an update for a non-summer update. But desolation wasn't the big summer update for its year.
I would very much appreciate that
and probably nerf the Neutron cannon (just inside the dungeon) while they are at it.
Honestly I am looking forward to this update because I have low expectations because we just got the big update of the year, so really there's no overreach on expectations. And Door has a lot of implications all of which I'm happy with! Even if it turns out 'just' to be new interior corvette parts, that would actually still be amazing ❤️
it drops tomorrow right?
Asdooroid update???
No 100% certainty but all things point to yes
Crazy how everyone universally agrees that desolation/derelict freighters is some of HG best work yet its ignored by HG completely.
Like they have not been touched for 5 years it's hilarious at this point
Right? Even if they took the principles of that and applied it elsewhere: procedural factory dungeons, procedural crashed freighter dungeons with creeping vines and sun rays casting through hull damage, procedural temples for the three primary races. Even if they didn't innovate on derelicts, they could of at least run with it and given us more thematic dungeons. Sean even said when it came out that it marked a changing shift for HG and updates, but that wasn't true.
I don't mean this to sound cynical but i remember when it came out and that statement was made I thought: "Ah so now we are getting the game inside of our sandbox." Because it was the first time that NMS felt like it had actual gameplay outside of collection and exploration. I love NMS' sandbox, but sometimes I want to also play a game.
I don't mind NMS being a sandbox where I get to have my own agency in what I do. But I suspect a lot of the people who were drawn in by corvettes and returned to NMS expecting a game bounced off it just as quickly. I worry LNF will have the same issue if its just a lot of disparate busy work and detached ideas without a cohesive throughline to tie it all together.
Portal module for multitools?
You're not being cynical at all, I don't have high hopes for LNF if I'm being honest.
Adding other hazards (Toxic, Heat, Radiation) to derelicts is not a big ask. Its definitely just laziness on their part. Yes they've dropped 100 updates but I still can't recommend this game to a friend because there is no game.
It's just a sandbox that looks extremely pretty but compare to its peers (minecraft, terraria, etc) there's still an extremely lack of depth. You really have to RP in your head to enjoy this game. This is all just my opinion.
The boundary failure mechanic from the cursed expediation was great but as always, it's two steps forward and one step back. Where is it?
Why is it not a difficulty setting? Perhaps for purple systems only. Just anything to show progression for that "just wait till you get to purple systems"
You can legit see everything in this game within 5 hours and I'm being nice here.
But we all see the endless potential and we're all addicted (myself included) so what can we do. Some drugs are better than no drugs (speaking about nms, pls don't get upset)
I definitely agree with a lot of that. Part of the draw in NMS is that the fact we get free and genuinely significant content updates fulfils that promise that anything's possible in this galaxy. Not because we get it today as the game stands, but that anything could be added a year from now, two, etc. Its what NMS evolves into that is the draw as much as the game it is today. But I do wish some of that effort had been invested in making a game to hold people's attention outside of us making our own fun.
I think its very telling in fact that even when we get content as significant as Corvettes, the conversation is as much about what they could mean for the future, as much as what they mean for the game today.
And that's fine and great, so long as HG follow through. I keep thinking they'll learn to follow a good thing, like capitalise on corvettes, but at the same time it wouldn't be the first time they've added a toy then dropped it for the next shiny thing.
cough cough Fishing cough
And the bone construction still feels unfinished IMO
Still can flip limbs betwen left right variant
I forgot that even existed
But I guess to those who are involved, it is probably great fun
At least HG did not follow Genshin cause they added fishing for no reason and locked some good weapons behind it
Me too. Once I got what I wanted from them (the horrific head) there wasn’t really a point.
Maybe they should add more rewards to them.
If you spend lots of time swimming, the foods cooked from fish typically give more breathing time
What did I miss? I haven’t followed the quests for a while now. Can you tell me more? I finished the Atlas Path and discovered the Autophages. Are there any new main quests now?
Did you do In Stellar Multitudes?
I need to check, I dont remember lol
The "main quests" are honestly a rather small portion of the story thats going on
Well, I have the Atlantid Drive in my fighter, so I presume I did, right?
I dont remember the part "Anchoring Reality"
How about removing that weird ability to see holograms from the wonder projector through walls? Cuz it bothered me when I was able to see the ones I placed outside my corvette while I was inside the windowless ship
I think the updates going to be Corvette parts expansion because we already have a lot of unadded really cool parts in the game files and what do you do when you open a 🚪 ? You say 👋
I hope for this so much! My little brother can't get his ship made by himself, but want me to make him a ship!
@dawn crystal
"It's just a sandbox that looks extremely pretty but compare to its peers (minecraft, terraria, etc) there's still an extremely lack of depth. You really have to RP in your head to enjoy this game. This is all just my opinion."
Minecraft is literally exactly the same 😆 there is no story in any of it... every update is just biome & cosmetic updates.
NMS has mini stories
Sure, so the daynight cycle that pushes players forward and the ender dragon that gives players an overall goal is what?
Not much
Alright, let's end this conversation here
Literally open a portal & kill a Dragon
My Son who is addicted to it for years even said it needs a story
I'm referring to game design.
If I asked you, what is the equivalent of the ender dragon in nms, what would it be? Probably the Sentinel Freighter now, before that what was it?
Forgive my tone, I'm just asking questions
Yeah good point sorry
What is the equivalent of mobs coming to kill you every night in minecraft, that forces you to think strategically, that gives you tension
I meant story as in narrative or text my mistake
Even if its small
Nah the story of nms is amazing
No complaints there at all
It's more game design
HG isn't very good at it
nms combat needs a massive overhaul IMHO especially in space
& they actually acknowledged this with the new bosses with their boss HUDs & derelict freighters serving as dungeons etc
But since game design is their weak point, all efforts eventually result in nothing
They have the assets, the code, the talent.
For some reason they just don't have the sense. Which is why I have no faith in LNF. It will 100% be the same thing. An amazing, beautiful, unique game that will be shallow as a puddle once players spend more than 5 hours with it
:c
💔
Do not kill me pls that's not very polite

No gateway update :c
The point of MC is that the game's story is YOUR story though
I hold my hands up for being wrong
Why does it need an "ender dragon"
Also if I'm being honest ender dragon needs a rework
I think bosses would be cool
Doesn't the weather push players tho, and the story as well
That's fair
I think the issue is that they added these things without thinking about how it would effect game balance. Things like exocrafts weren't even in the game at release. Launch fuel was expensive so you were encouraged to walk. Survival was much more of a pressing concern back then, at least until you got to a late-game stage. Survival difficulty was balanced around all this.
But many of the reasons survival is shallow now comes down to players complaining about having to do X or Y or their inventory not being big enough or they don't want to have to walk. Basically newer players not wanting to engage with the game systems in the way they were designed by HG
We need proximity chat to some degree this whole charades thing is not working with the little emotes we have.
I want to be able to actually ask another player in game if they want to trade, play together, ask a question, literally anything. It's actually frustrating to be this limited on speech.
I don't want to speak for HG, but I'd imagine as a family-friendly game they'd be hesitant to add prox chat. I mean the messages people leave during expeditions are already pretty vile
Can the final update of nms please be owning a space station? We can literally create our own space ships now so if we can create our own space stations thatt'd be SO cool and maybe that'd add some type of passive income aka taxing the vendors or something (think hogwarts legacy hogsmade shop but bigger) oh and tmaybe it'd not only let us make our space stations bigger then the ones currently in the game but it could also expand all the pre-exsisting space sations and The Anamoly
Like I know there’s those types of people no matter where you go, but how bad is it?
Prox chat definitely isn’t a brilliant idea for an mmo and if it were added it definitely would be defaulted to off
I don’t see HG ever adding it though
It’s not that hard to join a group and then talk verbally, but ig I can understand the frustration
I usually have MP turned off now, but I used to see a lot of racist, homophobic, and other bigoted messages, especially at portal sites in expeditions. There was a lot of just friendly stuff too, but there were always some messages I had to report
Everyone just rejects it cause why join a group you don't even know?
If you know the group tho you’d probably have others means of communication
You're not getting it
Ok well, I get your point. If you need help from randoms but you don’t want to join a random group a better communication system needs to implemented
And I’m pretty sure only pc players have text chat
hey guys does anyone have a theory for what the unknown cockpits in the game files are? they look about 3 wide and heavy duty. they have multiple seats too. i htink they were in the gamefiles about the time the voyagers update releases and I was expecting them to drop this update but apparently not
Most likely early tests that were cut, IMO
Only one of three is actually in the files and it matches with some of the earlier style corvette stuff that is left over
Every sandbox benefits from an overarching destination, its why when the game first launched, getting to the centre of the galaxy was the main focus. But again, due to a lack of coherent game design it fell flat.
Imagine if you had to collect all of the individual curiosities found on exotic planets & used them at an atlas station at the center of the galaxy that summoned a boss before moving on to the next galaxy. That would be the ender dragon & would give players a basic target mixing exploration, survival & combat altogether.
You're correct, Hazards do push the player, but zinc fixes this easily. And since zinc can be found on every planet, its not implemented well.
Again, if they removed zinc, made players rely on ion batteries or planet specfic elements (dioxite, phosphorus etc) and made you run from cave to cave or create your own caves using the terrain multitool + added enemies within caves, that would be good game design. Just my opinion btw, I know people may not agree or that the idea may not be fleshed out but you get the idea
So when you want to introduce somebody to the game and they ask what do I do, instead of the half ass reply of "whatever you want", it's now "the basic goal is to kill the boss at the centre of the galaxy but there's so much more than that if you choose to explore"
I don't even necessarily think there needs to be a boss at the galaxy center, if they had just stuck with the original plan of the game's difficulty scaling based on your closeness to the center it would have done wonders in giving a real tangible goal and progression.
Like imagine if you actually had to get close to the center to start finding S class equipment and upgrades for example. Imagine if more exotic things like purple systems became more common as you got closer.
That was always my dream, I also wanted each galaxy to increase the difficulty by 10%, so galaxy 20 would be ridiculous let alone 50.
I didn't realise this was the original plan though? I thought it was something that everyone just agreed would have been better design
They went into detail a few times prior to release; as you got closer to the center there was supposed to be more exotic resources, better and more expensive ships, more "alien" proc gen, the game itself was supposed to be more dangerous
That would of been cool, such a shame
Had this thought a while ago for an update/expedition
Expedition #: Reserve Fleet
Main update stuff:
- Expanded ship fabrication
- New sentinel content (can be experienced through a normal game quest or the expedition)
- Personal Freighter vs npc freighter combat (will actually shoot back and assist in dogfights if over it)
- Gunner seats and remote turret modules for corvettes
Sentinel content:
- Atlas Factory Interface: A modified interface that acts as a system boss fight defended by turrets, swarms of interceptors, and 2 freighters (Can be summoned via special beacon or by destroying 2 freighters in a system
- Questline/expedition reward: construct a dissonant nav beacon to call one into a purple system. This will cause a damaged factory interface to jump into the system. Upon landing and talking to the interface if you have the remembrance and star seed equipped to your exosuit you can claim the station as both a base similar to your frieghter/the space anomaly
- Specially fabrication: the dissonant factory interface through a quest line will unlock options in the interfaces unique fabrication menu. At the end of the main quest line you will completely unlock the option to fabricate sentinel interceptors. And through a secondary quest line can fabricate a custom sentinel capital ship. Unlike with normal fabrication once you select the components you must supply the interface with materials similar to a settlement. Things like atlantium for the hull, components for each of the primary systems. The class, ect. The resource cost is fairly high if you do not have mining outpost or large stockpiles. As for the capital ship you can choose the length and cargo container type as well as coloring and class. Extreme amount of resources required as you are fabricating a sentinel capital ship freighter
- Defeating factory interfaces will reward specific resources needed for fabrication option unlock quests
And there might be some other stuff im forgetting atm
I have and I always say you can beat the main story, and I think that's enough, I don't think the game needs to have bosses, it has problems but lack of bosses isn't one of them, and killing the ender dragon doesn't really give you anything other than a pat on the back and a egg, that's it, so much work for an egg(if they have added more to it let me know) that's why I think NMS shouldn't have bosses, because whatever the reward will be, it won't be worth it imo, I can't think of a single sandbox game other than terraria that has done bosses well, your criticism is valid this is just my opinion
I understand you too, but I definitely disagree.
While the narrative of the main stories (atlas path, artemis, VM lore) is enough, the actual gameplay is: go here > craft this > go here > craft this > go here > craft this.
If you added the boss with curiosities it would change to go here > craft this > explore > upgrade > go here > craft this etc etc.
Just my two cents that most people would enjoy my way better I think. Forcing players to upgrade and seek out all weird alien planets would be a great way to keep interests high.
Additionally, if each curiosity providing planet had a boss that dropped the curiosity, I think that would solve all issues surrounding combat. That's enough combat for everyone.
Just imagine a just Cube shooting out aoe lighting or a hexplate mech.
Also when I'm saying curiosities I realised I'm referring to the stabilised glitches
I see, that makes sense, did some expeditions have bosses?
Few did
Yh a few did, I think the expedition unanimously seen as one of the best (the cursed) ended in a boss fight
Cursed was one of my least favorites, but then I rarely like the expeditions in general
And also the boss fights in NMS are not impressive, let's be honest
But part of that is because the ground combat mechanics don't lend themselves to enjoyable boss battles. Or...most battles really
People keep trying to turn NMS into Destiny, but HG don't have the team size to support creating a really dialed-in combat system and really engaging enemies/encounters
Now that im through all the new content I hope they fully commit to the new additions.
Space salvage is a pretty fun PoI that needs some random ship designs (with interiors) and more of a reason to seek them out over salvage planets (exclusive parts, new currency, etc). Multiple people could explore parts of the broken up ships at the same time too.
Also I REALLY hope they follow through on the Corvette parts with Cockpits, Habitation Modules, Interiors (that's a load more work though)
Makes sense but you're genuinely the first person I've seen say that didn't enjoy it, I'm sure there's more but overall I've seen more positives than negatives.
Also, it's because HG tends to not lean into the strengths of combat (movement). Bosses should be Bullet hells like Furi or Returnal If you've played them with invulnerability periods for bosses, specific areas that need to be hit etc
Rather than destiny or any other shooter
I think with Cursed specifically I didn't like the constant threats combined with the creepy horror vibe. Horror vibes is not why I bought NMS and other than some flavor stuff in the lore and one building, it wasn't really a prominent part of the game originally
Suggestion: A starship hyperdrive upgrade which would allow for "consecutive jumps". You'd be able to jump exactly as far as you could if you just made several jumps in a row. In practice, your jump range would be multiplied by ((current hyperdrive fuel) / (fuel used per jump))
Naturally, your fuel use would increase accordingly
Yeah. Some of my favorite survival moments in the game were being chased by or fighting off predators
They tend to swing dramatically when they change. Cave crabs are a great example. They were in literally every cave, which is far too much, but now they aren't in any caves which is far too little.
That's really interesting. I was never interested in the reality/Glitch atlas narrative of NMS but I'm really loving this Void mother/atalantid/cosmic horror stuff that's recently come about.
But I still appreciate all the narrative threads in the game, I think they work so well within the type of game nms is.
They should probably block you from getting out of your corvette seat while in combat
because right now that's just a 'despawn all enemies' button lol
Yeah it seems like one of the writers at HG is really into horror sci fi. The majority of stories they tell in the game are either tied directly into the Atlas/Abyss stuff or yet another horror story
we need more enemy other than sentinels, something that can attack us more aggressively, maybe something biological, we already have biological ship, i mean something like hive mind creature with bio ship fleet or biological freighters fleets, they also can attack us on terrain like swarm
we have vile brood and biological horror, we found it everywhere in every galaxies, but we need it to be more active and more aggressive, something like that
Wait actually yeah some event with a huge stampede of biological horrors
Ngl those threads have been around for a while. Its crazy to think that this stuff has been hinted for years before more overt stuff started happening
I kind of want to see us eventually get the option to choose one of the larger factions that have emerged in the background
I thought of a system where you can collect seeds from trees, edible plants, and so on from the planets you visit. Then you can try to grow them at your base, and eventually on other planets. But there’s a chance the plant won’t germinate because of its alien characteristics.
Yeah ngl agriculture deserves a revamp, the plant a plant - wait - harvest - wait again cycle is kinda boring
If you find that kind of activity boring, you're definitely playing the wrong game. A good mechanic for growing plants and figuring out how they can survive on your planet — especially rare ones — is actually pretty interesting.
Yeah but I'm speaking more about the current agriculture system in bases regardless of the climate
Which is what I'm used to
(not to mention the grow times)
The basic plants all have edible forms
Frost crystal can be made into flour, cactus flesh into sugar, mordite into meat, faecium into yeast, and the rest as various fruits and veggies
I think I explained my idea a bit too vaguely: I know we already have a farming system, and that the way we do it is kind of boring. I’m talking about any plant — or most plants. I found a tree that looks a lot like a Japanese cherry blossom. I’d love to be able to collect a seedling or a seed and take it to my planet, even if it serves no purpose other than decoration.
Ohh, I see what you mean. There are decorations like that in the quicksilver shop, but even when theres flora that look a lot like them, its almost never quite a perfect match
real shame that the corvette wrecks are expedition exclusive :/
They aren't
how do i find them?
idk how to get the blueprint for the finder
oh wait are they just one of the random events you can find in space? dang
i would have preferred to have them more easily located, not the biggest fan of planetside salvage hunting but oh well fair enough
I brought over 8 of the wreck finders from the expedition, lol
could probably dupe them
oooooh big brain
should have thought of that, dang...
I wouldve filled the whole thing (in fact I probably will when the redux comes around) but there were too many good things I wanted to bring over
Oh wow
Purple
Anyway
I like collecting lore and unique bits from expeditions, so I brought over the fireship Arcadia logs and the jellyfish
you too? haha i have lots of little trinkets like that just saved in my storage.
I collected the wormskin folios in the expedition too, and idk whether theyre something we can normally collect or not
i swear i've heard of those before, i don't think they're exp exclusive, but i got one and saved it anyway
I last remember getting them in expedition 4, but I think i encountered them another time vaguely recently
It would be interesting to see a lore update to No Man's sky, each races having its own questline:
Korvax Path
Gek Path
Vy'keen Path
Pirate Path
The purpose of these questlines is to not only give depth to these three factions, but to also have an opportunity to "redesign" how ships work. As we know, regular sized ships have different classes like Explorer, Sentinel, Fighter, etc. and I believe it would be interesting to have a progression/lock system to unlock the ability to purchase ships and to unlock them would be to progress x amount in those questlines. For example:
Korvax path unlocks: Shuttle (unlocks at quest x Korvax path), explorer (unlocks at quest x Korvax path)
Gek: Hauler (at quest x Gek Path)
Vy'keen: Fighter (unlocks at quest x Vy'keen path)
Pirates: Solar and sentinel ships (unlocks at quest x Pirate path)
Exotic ships: No questline needed. Just luck
Corvette: At least one faction questline finished.
What I'm saying is that living ship gets a unique line of quest before you could unlock it, and I really like how you are limited to one quest a day which makes living ship classes unique. So it would be interesting if other class ships could do the same by completing sets of quest.
Also, so far with my experience with them, they don't vary much when it comes to stats except for the sentinel ships since which I find easier to recharge. So, to balance ships, adding bonuses to their class would encourage players to use them. Example
Shuttle - Launch fuel usage -75% Explorer - +65%ly distance -20% warp fuel usage Solar - Passive: -70% shield depletion if idle. Sentinel - All-rounder aka balanced (this is good because it's not good at everything and the advantage itself is maintenance. Easy fuel, easy warp fuel) Living ship - Stats are equal to player stats Exotic ships - also nothing special
With that said, I’ve been loving all the new updates, especially how much effort Hello Games keeps putting in. That’s why I’ve been thinking about why so many players return for updates but don’t always stay long-term. Personally, I think it’s because once we’ve seen everything, the sense of challenge and progression fades a bit, especially now that the Corvette class can outclass almost every other ship type
Yeah I always missed it, I'm a fan nevertheless
You actually gave me an idea for a ground combat encounter.
In pirate systems, when planetside, there should be a combat timer similar to the one for space encounters that makes pirate frigates warp in atmosphere and drop pirate mech units or pirate exocrafts that attack you. You'd have to fly up and destroy the frigate to stop the spawns or run away.
So imagine that there was an additional infested/biological horror faction. In "Infested Systems" They could reuse this mechanic, use living frigates (they already have the asset/model) and drop multiple biological horrors or brood queen's or even the worms instead. Add in living freighters and you've got all the pieces for a whole new faction since we already have living ships. It could defo be a hivemind.
Best part is both factions could drop upgrades (x class or living ship) & procgen loot like pirate transponders, biological samples, etc. Destroying the frigate could even yield new corvette parts.
Wouldn't even be too hard to implement since they legit have all the assets & logic already.
I have an idea, tribes of new species trying to become civilization, the atlas can only really simulate 3 different spacefareing civilisations, but it could definitely be trying it's darndest to simulate more, just unable to get them to that point, said tribes are usually about the size of an autophage camp
Another thing is LORD I want this stellar infection expanded upon, how the horrors, the worms, and the space gunk on derelict ships are connected, maybe a new species of infected peeps?
YES, we NEED more for the space infection! And I'd love living corvettes
oh they don't stack?
i would LOVE a new biome, a junkyard planet that has all sorts of rusted shipwrecks, ruined buildings, rusted robotic fauna/flora, rust, chromatic metal and magnetised ferrite deposits and a bunch of different upgrades, modules and ship & corvette parts to find
would be really cool methinks
I second this... the dissonant planets with the dead sentinels are a step in that direction but a long way to go
yeah for sure but they're like their own separate thing
i'm thinking less purple more brown yknow ;)
im a big fan of the sci-fi scavenger aesthetic
yess something like Lotho Minor from Star Wars
or the junkyard planet from thor ragnarok
|| Korvax prime had junkyard moons i think ||
I think that's from where the ||autophage|| came from
I disagree with both of those
And unfortunately they do not
You know what would be amazing? A freighter module that contains a teleporter to corvette so we can cut down on the walking from our freighter base to the corvette.
be nice if you had room in your archive multi-tool it would auto put itself in there. instead of just deleting it when you replace one
Hopefully without a homicidally insane horned dude lurking somewhere in a cave
Also, as an actual suggestion,
Idk how feasible this is, but if/when HG updates corvettes again, I hope they're able to add different kinds of interior segments to make interior layouts more complex. And by more complex i mean rooms connected by real corridors (not just a smaller hab named a corridor) with doors, ladders, docking ports for starships and the like.
Currently with corvettes you can make a sensible looking interior, but they're not much more than 1 or 2 same-sized hab blocks repeated, and decorated with a limited set of interior modules.
I know HG can probably only do so much with the grid system being the way it is, but one can only hope.
Plasma sword would be fun
I don't know why everything in no mans sky is so cheap because everythime I played nms I made over 100 million units
Can hello games add something like expensive items to spacestations?
let me buy a space station
Yes, I want to buy a system
Wouldn’t say no to a pocket teleporter, which we can use everywhere any time. Just whip out something like a tablet that brings you to the teleporter screen from where you pick a target location as normal.
Or a Fallout collab. Would be nice to have a working Pip Boy 😄
hate to say it, but fallout seems like the least likely game to get a collab. Honestly probably won't get a collab with anything bethesda ||which I'm fine with||
That's would be cool but that require a huge update
yeah
rare mineral update would be cool which can be extract from planet surface
I predict they gonna add inventory search in the next update
Or the update after that
Yh, that's fine tho
Asdooroid update when
Bigger corvette hubs would be neat. At least a 2x2 instead of just 1x1 and 1x2.
Maybe even a 3x3
I agree
Or just the ability to great bigger, open rooms when connecting multiple habs together
Like with freighter rooms
Ouh and doors. We need doors. 😅
True
Feature idea: Reconnaissance Drone Exocraft
The purpose of the recon drone would be to aide the player with on foot exploration. It would be a remote piloted exocraft which functions much like the birds from the Assassins Creed series. When enabling the drone it would immediately launch upward before you gain control, to quickly get a birds eye view of the immediate surroundings.
It would control similarly to the photo mode, except with much greater speed and agility, enabling quick scouting of the surroundings and plotting of points of interest.
Some basic features of the recon drone could include:
- The ability to identify points of interest like the analysis visor.
- Plotting routes through the environment by tagging of multiple points of interest. (opposed to the visors limit of just one)
- Placement of markers on the environment which connect together via a line (or arrows) when exiting the drone view. (see a cool mountaintop? use the drone to plot a path up to the top)
- Can locate hotspots and missions objectives and mark them on your HUD.
- Can scan flora and fauna.
- Can take photos for photo missions
Installable upgrades to the recon drone could give additional features such as:
- Automated gathering of identified resources from nearby nodes (such as star bulb). Send it on its way while you do something else nearby.
- Automated mining of basic materials near to the player while walking around (such as ferrite dust, carbon, dihydrogen)
I know, but the Walker not yet.
ah, you want a minotour as a pet?
I recognize why this is difficult but I want like
Bigger, cooler settlements
I don't know I want to feel like the mayor of a spaceport or something
We need 3 updates
Rtx update for more color options in nms
Z axis update to allow for more corvette parts positions
And search update for inventory search
ngl those seem like the things that hg would put at the bottom of the patch notes lol
still important though
we definitely need them

We absolutely need them
I don't wanna drag my ah all the way to the bottom to find some ferrite dust only to realise it's in the middle and only to realise again I don't got enough
I wonder if they will eventually add asteroids that you can land on
Welp here we go with cities.... At this point, come on HG 😭😭😭
Then again, I'd want it to be bug-free
Oh also I want the placing grid to get fixed because as someone who wanted to build an underground bunker
Ough
Thats not the placing grid as much as how terrain editing works
honestly I would like for a module for the corvettes that acts as a built in exo craft summoner, I know some want for the craft to be on board, but since we can just summon them, I say have it as a module you can put on the hull
let me have multiple freighters
Also weird thing to note: corvettes are cool but they're a little too cool compared to spaceships
Make spaceships cooler so they don't exist solely for me to get corvette pieces and discard
Or make corvettes not available in early game. Make them unlockable later by some sidequest.
or make corvettes worse to not undermine the other ships as much overall I think that once you get past the novelty of them, corvettes don't offer much in the way of stats that actually make them better than standard ships. There are a few cases where they are better, and in cases where you aren't min-maxxing, you can make pretty good corvettes more easily than other ship types though.
I'd like to see spacewalking added to other ships because I don't think that should be a corvette exclusive feature. Most ships can't hover in atmosphere like the corvettes can, so regular ships could only allow EVAing from space.
They could also make it so normal ships can be docked with corvettes, which would add a strong incentive to have both a good corvette and a good ship. They would maybe have to go back to ships being slightly smaller like they were before Next for that to work though
Maybe if there was an easier way to customize your ships
the medi bay you can place in corvettes should actually heal you smh
the bed having no functionality is fine since there's no sleep system in NMS, but there's literally healing equipment in the game already
Exactly
Just get the one for the exosuit. Then you can summon anywhere in the galaxy.
It could be a save/healing spot. I mean we can sit in chairs. Why not lay in bed? It could even be a slow recharge while you wait to make it not super OP
Also medi bays should be less decorative and more functional, totally agree.
Although I noticed if you edit your corvette in certain places while at a base when hovering you get the full build menu. I’ll have to try today to see if I can place a medi station and have it stick to the corvette.
You can put the first aid and shield recharge stations on the corvette normally, don't need any glitches to get them.
If the medical bed was made functional, it would probably need to be as good as those otherwise there would be no point
Damn, so many hours and I didn't know there was an exosuit module for that
yeah just make it work as one or both of those
Yep you can buy it from the anomaly. It’s one of the very bottom ones at the exosuit vendor.
It’s not bad to make if you have the advanced crafting recipes for the special items like thermal conductors and such. Plus you will absolutely need a ln atmosphere gatherer or whatever they’re called.
The devs should focus on completely ironing out bugs before releasing more updates.
the devs should give each main biom different sub biomes, which depend on their location (colder on the poles and on the mountains)
why even have a biome system at all? we have a handful of discrete biome types, but why not just have a bunch of parameters that generate a planet’s environment?
like, it doesn’t make sense that a planet can be Cold or Hot or Toxic or Radioactive but it can only be one of those things and all the other parameters are just Normal
why not have each planet have a random temperature value and a random toxin value and a random radioactivity value and then the life forms and terrain and effects are generated based off that
right now it’s kinda like… on Cold Planets you have a set of Cold Planet assets that get placed. on Radiation Planets you have a set of Radiation Planet assets that get placed
A lot of them do vary, actually, but one will always be dominant
Also its likely for gameplay reasons, because hazard protection for multiple things at once can get crazy
Can we get all hazard elements added to Gas Giants? Maybe 3 or all 4 active at once, with random intensities? Also can we get aggressive sentinels & vile broods added to the gas giants too?
On one hand I have that module and it's convenient
On the other there is something cool as hell in the idea of dropping a Minotaur from Orbit
They do “vary” in the sense that the value is not 0. But there’s virtually no gameplay repurcussion to those values
My 9yo has been watching me play and asked to start her own account. Turned off damage but she was able to get her ship into orbit with very little help. Proud dad moment
You have to be a good example! Quick, hide the NipNip Buds!
At least we should have gas giant temperatures be consistently 350-400°C instead of around 100°C
More deadly wheather would be nice.
Hey did they fix the corvette crashing the game when landing at a settlement bug in patch 6.11? Also I don’t know what topic this would be under so sorry if it’s the wrong area to post this.
I'm honestly really hopping they add some kind of autonomous turret or manned guns to the corvette. I feels to slow in the turns for combat as it is right now.
They should have an event where all expedition rewards since expedition 1 are unlocked
Hopefuly after last expedition. If that will ever happen.
I really hope they do another remix this year. Especially since there were two expeditions I got locked out of...
If you’re on Switch 1 like I am, bad news but you’ll still be locked out of them
Since corvettes are not gonna be released on Switch 1 (at least not for a good bit)
I was talking about a remix of a 2021 expedition like they've done the past few years. That has nothing to do with corvettes or features absent from Switch 1.
If they remix say Pioneers or Emergence this year, that could at least give Switch 1 players another expedition to do.
FYI, call it hopium, but I'm not writing off anything on the Switch 1 until I see how they're going to handle the redux with all the issues going on. That would be the real tell, IMO.
I was thinking of sending this to the zendesk :3
Hello! Ever since the update that added the Skyborn Armor and Corvettes, I've been wanting to make a rocket!! I'm a big space fan (duh) and I adore NASA's style, their rockets and outfits feel so dream-like for me and the Skyborn armor feels like a homage to them. I even colored it like the Apollo spacesuit!
And don't get me wrong, the Corvette update is one of the biggest, most ambitious and unique updates NMS has gotten, but despite my best attempts to make a rocket, it feels like something is lacking…
The biggest obstacle I've had are the landing gears. Everything else feels suitable for a vertical rocket, as in flight, it would still fly “forwards” just like a normal corvette does. Heck, even flying in planets like this would be normal. But the landing pads being placed on the “side” of the rocket and making it land sideways feels weird…
Then, this gave me the idea of a vertical landing gear! Of course, I understand the challenge the team would have with this, as a few things might feel weird. For example, docking. Docking in a space station, the space anomaly, or a freighter would feel off if this is added.
Why? Because with the current landing gear, the ship faces forwards at all times, in the direction of the cockpit, and lands on it's “belly”. So… how would a vertical landing gear work? I think of it like this. With the current landing gear, being “under” the ship, the vertical one would be placed like an access module. Perhaps it could even act as both? But the point is, it'd be placed on the BACK of a corvette, requiring no other type of landing gears placed on the ship for it to be able to land (maybe making the vertical landing gear incompatible with others, so no bugs happen?), and what I imagine it'd allow is for ships to land with the cockpit pointing UP. To reiterate, a corvette would still fly, control, aim and shoot like normal with this landing gear. Once it launches, pressing forwards would make it fly forwards, in the direction of the cockpit. A vertical landing gear would literally just allow a ship to land at a 90° angle.
The engines, habs, cockpit, access module, everything would still be placed in the same direction as before, so you wouldn't be building “up” from the point of view of being inside the corvette. Then, for docking, I would suggest a different animation could be added, but still being quite similar to the current one? The “approaching” animation would be the same, with the ship flying forwards, but once it's about to land, the corvette sort of VERY quickly aims up, and lands. Think about it, how does a rocket work in real life? It launches vertically, and once in space, the direction it faces doesn't matter, anywhere it flies to would be “forwards”. Though, when they land, they usually turn around in space before entering the atmosphere and then uses the rocket engine to slow down, before landing vertically once more.
However, No Man's Sky is a game, first and foremost. It doesn't have to be entirely realistic. One could even argue about the limits of this, considering the in-game lore, and the fact that the setting is "futuristic". Would a rocket turning around and landing vertically WITHIN the range of the ground or colossal landing pad really be that weird, compared to everything else in the game?
Either way, I understand the technical challenge this provides, I'm not BEGGING or DEMANDING for this to be added, just an idea! I feel like rocket style Corvettes would be something people would appreciate :)
So, yeah! Basically my idea boils down to a unique landing gear that goes on the back of a corvette, letting it land vertically. As the corvette workshop's build range is a sphere, I feel like considering the height of the anomaly, space station and freighters (which have no roof for docking) there'd be no problem with the length- or rather “height” of the corvette once it lands vertically.
Though… there are two points I'm not sure how they'd work with this idea, which is the corvette hovering/autopiloting on a planet, as it hovers/flies parallel to the ground- perhaps this wouldn't have to change for the vertical landing gear, as long as the ship is hovering with the cockpit's orientation as the focus? It would still hover/autopilot on it's side, the habs being parallel to the ground. It would only change to be vertical once it lands, and entering this rocket and walking inside it would feel normal, as a corvette has it's own inner gravity (though personally I'd love it if the ship would be able to hover vertically too). I'm just unsure as to how challenging this problem is.
The other concern I have is with the ship building itself. If the habs would be turned 90°, with the entire ship pointing upwards, building might look awkward… or maybe not! It's entirely up to the team, maybe my idea could be used for something else, or maybe it'd be completely unusable. I'm satisfied with just sharing my ideas with the team.
Sorry for ranting for so long, I appreciate the time taken to read all of this. I hope everyone has a nice day! xoxo
Thoughts :3
Vertical corvettes would be awesome, but idk how possible it is to do sadly
Be nice to have actual landing pads for corvettes like many others are asking for
Similar to this
Never mind lol can't upload a picture to show what I'm talking about
I would love this idea. So far I’ve only built smaller assault corvettes, around 1200 Manoeuvrability so combat hasn’t been an issue for me, yet haha.
Been trying to master the 3 hab and smaller builds. I’ll probably do a larger freighter style soon too though.
I think it’s possible now, but would certainly take some creative thinking to get it right.
I would like an option to be able to summon one of your traditional ships when in space so you could space walk from your corvette to it to go down to the planets surface, Or even a “docking” module where ships could dock allowing you to enter them directly from the corvette. then hop back in your corvette in orbit. Some corvettes feel way too big to land on a planet so this would add so much to the immersion factor.
The main reason I play this game is the immersion, seamless going from planet to space from system to system, from space to freighters and stations and so on.
I feel like this little change would add so much in terms of immersion.
Adding a building module for gunnery would be cool. In a Corvette you could put one down and then select which turret the module controls. This would also have a lot of potential for settlement artillery and freighters.
It would also open up the opportunity to split corvettes into two types: pseudo-starships and pseudo-frigates. These are already what players are building anyway. Only the bigger type would have the gunnery turrets, but it would also address the part limit issues and unlock the multiplayer potential of corvettes AND keep the current system intact via the vanilla Corvette type.
When will they add slots just for corvettes saves just like ships
i really hope they fix tabbing out decimating frames one day. makes it super hard to play for more than 30 minutes at a time without restarting
I wonder if they’ll ever actually add corvette dismantling. Bc if we could do that and get all the parts back, we would then be able to infinitely reroll stats which is probably why they haven’t added it yet.
Trying to think of a balanced way to do it.
After finishing Breach I've realized that it'd be super neat to see spacewalking but with a more engaging map
Like imagine a derelict freighter or even a derelict station with map design and hazards built around spacewalking through it
The only issue imo would be that it would need to use cold protection and current derelict freighters already do
But I think the answer could honestly be as simple as just use a different hazard (Toxic maybe since the whole thing with derelicts is being overrun by the infestation) and keep cold protection to the spacewalking events
Even just for the aesthetics would be pretty cool tbh, like a section that’s completely exposed to space.
- Asteroid update
- 2x1 (wide), 3x1, 3x2 (both long and wide each), 2x2, and 3x3 corvette rooms
I really want bigger corvette rooms
I agree with #2. I would love to have a 2x2 or 3x3 hab. It would be nice to have place to create an bedroom or living room on my corvette.
I would love if you could get animal products from companions, like milk, eggs, 'honey'
Atlas inspired habitation modules, walkways, and cockpit are my wish for the future
i'd love to see more minibosses in the game. we got the jellyfish and the ruined golems and the many-mouths, maybe it'd be cool to have a miniboss encounter in space? i mean, i know pirate attacks are a thing, but the big battles only happen on warp and are on a cooldown as well, so i don't think that should count
Maybe an Anomaly Detector encounter? Or maybe just some creature roaming in space could be cool
since the anomaly detector encounters can also happen randomly without them, i think that'd be a good place to put it
Oh yk that asteroid larva thing? Would be cool if we got the adult version
I’d love a reason to glass a place from orbit work with a few ppl in larger ships
yeah! like imagine if we could have gunner seats or something like that, one person piloting the ship to avoid hazards while another person can unload on the boss
i think nms' multiplayer code might need some fine tuning for that though, since i've noticed that often when i'm trying to shoot ships in multiplayer the hits simply don't register
Aha, you realize that the larvae are indestructible, right?
If we meet an adult version, thats not a miniboss, thats a "runaway or die" encounter
Nahhh it's fineeee trustttt
would be nice to have more realistic controls, docking and dogfight for hardcore players ✌️
this is a more minor thing but I think movement needs an update
the characters in NMS have a very arcade-ey feel to them when they move around and I think the game would benefit if HG made it so players move with more weight. It doesn't need to be like RDR2's where you've gotta button mash to sprint or anything like that, but i think it needs something
We really ought to be able to search through all the planets we've previously discovered, filtering by name and features
Or by favoriting them
combat overhaul would be nice
idk but the land combat feels
kinda stiff
idk it could just be me
true, but idk, the game isn't all that combat focused
I think they should focus less on adding brand new content to the game and focused more on old content and makeing more things that are pointless actually worthwhile to do because I think the game has a problem with the game is alot of stuff feels pointless like the game has this incredibly in depth cooking system and the last time I remember using it was like 4 years ago
True,I also think they can improve the bounty hunting like for example instead of hunting for other npc all the time the npc can hunt you if you have very low standing against that race
They should seperate the limbs
Like have seperate limb options
If i want my character to be a human with a metal right arm it should be possible
That actually a good idea, and it also possible
I wish they made an inventory management update
Having to comb through a couple dozen 2x4 pages of your items whenever you want to use a refiner is a travesty
No filters, no search bar...
honestly I think we need a full character customization update
What we've got is cool and all, really, but I feel like more can be done with it
seperate limb customization would hopefully be a part of that
they should make it so that when you control the ships the controls in the cockpit move too
I think that already happens?
i don’t think you want realistic spaceflight control in no man’s sky 😆
docking is something i can totally get behind, though. i want to land my starship on my corvette! and dock my corvette to my base, and land ships on my corvette
I would appreciate female aliens existing in the NMS universe... 🫠
And no, you cant sell the slim body preset as feminine to me
I want representation ✊
I feel like once you reach far enough standing in the negatives, you should be labeled as a terrorist or something like that
Ok so I understand, but I gotta point out that most of the outfits we have are space suits, and those won't really show gender differences very well
And we arent really told the gender differences for the gek and vy'keen, and though a distinguishable option would be interesting, I dont think it should resemble that of humans
The spacesuits we have aren't of the clunky NASA variety. We spacesuits we have in NMS can be assumed to be body fitting so yes, they would show the differences.
We aren't told the gender differences for the biological lifeforms, true, still they all feel male-ish. The voices are always deeper and they all have more masculine bodies.
And its a little late for the "shouldnt resemble humans" argument when they all resemble humans already.
Either way its a game made for humans, not for space aliens, and the whole point of representation in video games is to feel like you are seen and included in the general public consciousness.
Oh I mean I feel it would be boring if the gender differences for the aliens resembles those of humans
ANIMAL OVERHAUL! i want to not be able to tell two animals use the same parts set
maybe a few sliders here and there and voice presets?
humanoid voices, growling beats voices (vykeem) chipper voices (gek), robotic voices (korvax) and bug voices (bugs)
There doesnt even need to be sliders imo, just a couple more body type presets and voice settings. No idea how to handle that for the Korvax to stay close to lore though
Or individual settings for upper body and lower body to include non-binary and trans folks? I don't know, I dont feel qualified to speak on that
Either way, a customization update generally would be neat... I want more colors and better defineable color regions too!
More body type options would be a great solution
Especially some that aren't as extreme as the ones we have now. I see the default and slim ones pretty commonly, but very few players use the tall, short, or fat options becausee they all look pretty silly
We need AK-47s and jewelry stores to rob so there's actual stuff to do
That and gunners for corvettes
Player-Buildable space stations (like planetary bases but in space)
New suggestion: Melee weapons
Having a multi-tool blade would be so cool, they could deal drastically more damage than a gun multitool, mine faster and excavate resoruce deposits with one strike but you have to be in close range!
... or just as a mod for existing multitools to override the quick melee attack
Multi tool needs a weapon wheel like Far Cry
On the ground combat against something other than predatory animals and sentinels would be good
I wish all these track a missing person quests would end in a gunfight sometimes
I don't think I've done a single "missing" person quest where the person in question didn't turn out to still be at their last known location
multi-spear that functions like a staff, where you walk with it, but the benefit comes when you swing it you've got extra range
melee weapons as a whole have a lot of potential, i think, but they'd need to be added alongside a combat update so they'd have actual utility
warframe has the shawzin, sky:cotl has guitars and pianos, we already have bytebeat machines.... give us an instrument to play in realtime. i don't care what it is as long as i can play Bad Apple!! 24 Hour Version (No Copyright) with it
ability to write personal notes for bases and space stations when using teleporter. just adding to favorites does not give me all the infoi would need looking for a specific place or smth. right now i have to use my own notes in notepad or steam notes. it becomes overwhelming real quick
especially, when you have had a long pause from playing and forgotten basically everything
Ability to write. Just like that. Signs. Doors. walls. Jesus Christ! I need this. No mods, just a simple function.
Just say it...you want light sabers 😄
Inventory search
more entryways for the corvettes?
The ability to take off photon cannons off corvettes
Absolutely i would love to replace it. All i need is the ballista and knife.
I think it would be nice if the Abandoned stations were updated to reflect the new Omega stations that exist.
Nah, I like having the old stations still exist in some form
Plus those are a relatively easy way to get the remembrance logs
SUGGESTION: If our Freighter has the Matter Beam technology installed, we should be able to transmit Corvette Parts to our Corvette Part Storage from our Freighter. The same logic could also apply to our Corvette starship, assuming we have the correct technology installed for material transfer, allowing us to store Corvette parts remotely, rather than dragging them around until we can visit a station.
ACCESSIBILITY SUGGESTION: I'm old, but I love this game. I have hearing impairment due to my age and playing drums in a band for most of my life. I often can't understand what the Exo-Suit voice says. I've tried different voices in the Settings, but that doesn't help. -- It would be very nice to have an option to READ what the Exo-Suit voice says in the chat window or in a text box (CC) so I can receive those important (sometimes life-saving) comments from my Exo-Suit.
I want lightsabers. They could call them illumination swords or something to get around the Disney/Lucas copyrights
Imagine buildable hilts like autophage staves!
Yeah i do like that they are there. Teleporters for corvettes in those and the pirate stations would still be appreciated tho.
Valheim has them. I don't think they've been sued so maybe NMS can do it too
I want guild/clans in game, and maybe PVP that you can toggle on or off. Or maybe certain worlds that are PVP zones exclusive
Maybe instead of "pvp worlds" some form of arena inside the Nexus
Have they said anything about a combat overhaul at all I feel like it is needed
They have not but I personally don't think it's super necessary, now a days it's pretty balanced
Not that it’s not balanced jsut always the same some more weapons or just reworks and new enemies maybe like being able to actually fight with freighters and stuff would be cool it just gets repetitive aswell as there’s not really a best weapon as if they all have the s class upgrades they all can reallly do what ever
That's fair. I do like the idea of freighter combat though. especially since we already have npc freighters fighting each other. The on foot combat also does deffinetly need some tweaks in the regard that all the weapons really don't have enough noticable differences.
Yeah I feel like it would just open the game up a lot as they could also do more with PvP pve interactions like a arena or new missions
They should add a separate docking bay for corvettes on freighters so they aren’t awkwardly floating
Yeah I feel like that wouldn't fit on non-capital freighters
Not to burst anyone’s bubble but you can toggle PvP in your settings. It just sucks, is all.
Yeah I agree, a force flagged pvp star system type would be very cool
Pvp doesn't feel very genuine in a game where it's so easy to toggle either, it should ONLY be toggleable at certain locations, such as star stations and the anomaly
Think warmode in WoW, but in order to truly entice the pvp people you'd have to have entire systems for them, because I think a lot of the pvpers want larger scale wars happening, not just the occasional griefing.
Another idea would be to make pvp toggle choices stay until you leave the system/reload your game, so if you decide to go pvp then it won't be as easy to change on the fly
Same with ship/foot markers so you cant just hide suddenly
That works too, anything to make the choice have weight
Well imo I think in a pvp system they should all be off
By default
Escaping from someone should feel good too
Pvp should be off by default, it actually bothers me that I need to remember to turn it off myself every time I start a new expedition save
But when you enable it, it should be intentional and be a choice you don't just back out of in 3 seconds
Exactly
I'd love that
Honestly this game would be #1 on the charts if they did a decent pvp patch
It would blow up overnight
Yeah, but that would prevent people who normally don't play pvp from being able to interact with pvp without loading a seperate save just for pvp
tru
For example, I play literally 99% of my time on my main save (over 700 hours now) and would not want to start a whole new game just to shoot it up with some friends for an hour or two
I also like the idea of just adding forced pvp to certain star systems, if having a separate game mode is too taxing
I think the thing a lot of PvE only players don't understand is that pvp adds that layer of fear in space
I want to be scared
It feels more real
Pvp specific systems (like how they have pirate ones) would be interesting, but could also have some downsides
Honestly I think the pvp mode is the best bet, given that it would give the experience many are looking for
It would suck to start over, but everyone would be starting over
But what would be the incentive/reward for pvp?
To protect your coalition/planets
And bases
It would be a much more RP feeling than normal mode
Pvpers don't need shiny bobbles to be pleased with gameplay
I suspected, which that would cause seperation among player base and some players would simply stop playing due to having an unpleasant experience in the pvp-only mode and not wanting to play pve-only otherwise
The idea of living in a breathing world is the main drive
I'm confused, you're saying that they wouldn't do it bcuz some ppl can't handle their emotions?
If you don't want to play it for either the pvp or PvE why play the game at all
Also I think you gain wayyyyy more ppl with an update like this than you would lose
Especially with New World dying now
As it is, pvp settings now allow you to turn on the settings whenever you want, which works fine enough...pvp-only systems would be a good idea cuz players could travel to them when they want to pvp...but if you have an entire pvp-only mode then the players who may-or may-not want to pvp would end up not wanting to play as much if they have to constantly defend their stuff from anyone who could attack them whenever, cuz the only option to avoid pvp at that point is to load/start a whole new save and never be allowed to pvp without going back to the original save (or starting yet another one) and being forced to pvp always
Nah bro that's why no man's sky pvp would be so amazing
What I mean is that the people who don't always want to pvp would feel like it's not a pleasant experience and would never pvp, which would be boring for them also and they would just get bored and stop playing
You want to be a solo rat? Find a system nobody is even close to
Probably what id do at first lol
But then someone finds your solo system and raids begin
And then theres a raid whenever you are online
I mean sure but let's be real no man's sky is massive
If you wanted to hide, you could
Also with a pvp system like this, I think it's important to add a bounty system
But that would require rebuilding/abandoning planets you have worked hard to discover/build on
To make ppl who like pvp but don't like griefing enjoy it
That's pvp for you bro lol, it's no different on any other survival pvp game
If you really want to defend it, get a group
Defend it with numbers and a purpose
You could also just live in a Corvette and raid ppl all day lol
Many different options for lifestyle
Which is why I'm saying it wouldn't be as enjoyable. Having pvp-only or pve-only worlds is actually one of the reasons I don't play Ark anymore. It causes a form of seperation from the different aspects of the game. Having pvp zones is one thing, but you're proposing to literally seperate everyone pvp from everyone pve and they never interact again
Some people only want to pvp on weekends when they have time
Some people get tired of it and take a break and come back
But nobody wants to start their game over just to be able to do it
I agree with you 100%, I'm just saying the pvp system would be the closest to having a real breathing universe with actual conflict
That can't be denied
Also
These ppl you're talking about have years of stuff built up
That could be seen as unfair
Two side to these coins, both valid
As per usual the hardest part of any pvp MMO is just getting the PvE and pvp players together without hating one another
I think the pvp star systems is the best solution for that for sure
I agree pvp systems would probably be the best option, with having pvp settings on a coldown being a close second in my opinion
Eh, pvp toggle is OK. But really pvp should be threatening your base and loot
So system is a must if it's to be taken seriously
Minimum
I just mean cooldowns are another option that would work cuz it wouldn't require much change besides people not being allowed to change them every 2 minutes or whatever time they think is fair
I think it should be only toggleable in space stations, and on a 10 minute CD
If we're going this route
Would be a decent starting point for changing pvp settings to forced in areas if they tinker with cooldowns or something
And give rewards for it being on
That's actually why I don't like toggle pvp, you have to give incentives
I feel like players should drop loot and if they have none then the attacker still gets random loot drops like with npc drops
Yes, that's a very good start
Having to defend everything that is yours should only be when online
Maybe a pirate system where you turn in codes from other explorers you killed
Nah defending should be all the time
If in a pvp system
But this would require adding things like turrets for bases and such
That's what would make people group
And make factions and control planets
It would be so fucking dope
They have that AI thingy that can shoot right? Idk if it can be left at a base or not
Offline raiding getting into Ark territory where you can't survive alone cuz tribes are the only way to do/keep anything, which was not fun for me when I played
I hard agree with that sentiment l, but no man's sky would be different
There could be a way of people wresting control even if you are offline, but maybe not by destroying your stuff
You can't fly to a whole new system on Ark on a mobile base lol
Like I said, only in a pvp star system would your base get destroyed
So you'd go into it knowing
I just feel like the offline destruction is what kills it for a lot of people
Not a PvE base outside the system
Or maybe remove base markers in pvp systems?
But then planets are so big it could be impossible to find anyone
If you wanna find them, you gotta FIND them
Maybe markers for players in space cuz there's just way too much area to hide in
Remember I'm coming from a place of semi realism with the pvp, that's the fun in it in this game. I don't want call of duty
I want boba Fett chasing han solo
The person getting chased should feel like they did something cool too
I'm also trying to be a bit real cuz I feel like yeah you probably could find a spaceship in space if it's in the same system. Only way you could hide a ship is landing it or having a cloak
That's a very normal space fantasy
Exactly
Pvpers are psycho
They'll find you eventually
They don't need help
Landing turns off power so its undetectable and cloak is only temporary
Imagine you have a guild of 20 holding down a planet
It'd be hard to just go unnoticed
Imagine a guild of 20 knocking on your door tho
Also hard to hide
I think no man's sky would do it a lot better than Ark
Bcuz I'm also a solo Ark player
It's ass
As long as they don't let alpha tribes rule servers like Ark did
I think corvettes would be the move for most solo players on pvp systems
Yeah bro I hate that shit lol
So much
There was a tribe that controlled like 100 servers
And raid anyone new who even bothers to make a thatch hut on a quiet beach 😂
Stone minimum
I do feel like NMS would definitely do it better
That's why I don't like ark actually
The early game is vastly overshadowed by the endgame
I still like it, but won't waste my time anymore
Tek was the shit for me, I loved it, but could never keep it cuz pvp or server crashes or selfish server owners
Tek suits and knowing where everything is kills pvp on such small maps
Game would be 100x better if there was zero Tek
Pvp wise anyway
My issues were mostly the actual structure of the servers. Either you joined official and there were no rules, or you joined a private server and hoped the owner wasn't shitty
Yeah that too lol, power tripping mods
Yeah, I got kicked for calling a few out 😅
NMS is definitely a way better time sink 🤣
I agree 💯, that's why I'm tryna spark this pvp fire
With all the dead pvp games rn, this is the best time (financially) to do a pvp update
I know of at least 20 ppl that would buy it immediately if it has good pvp
Just don't burn the whole universe is all I ask, cuz I want to keep some of my stuff burn-free 😅
I really enjoy the game, and it has the most potential out of any game I've played
It could be the gaming version of Twitter
It just needs a little push
You know what I'm saying lol
Popularity wise
It would blow up
The pvp MMO scene just got gutted by Amazon
That's true, but the nms dev team is dope as fuck they'd figure it out
They love the game
People were flocking to new world, a 5 year old game with like no huge updates. It boomed in popularity just bcuz it existed in a space where none others did.
Forced PVP zones is a bit tricky when you have custom mode players
even if you have PVP enabled, you can still set yourself to be invulnerable
They could cause those settings to conflict so you can't change one when the other is set. Kinda the same way that you can't change a lot of settings in permadeath mode
PvPs biggest problem would be the utter lack of concern Hg has with people using editors and mods
I just don't see them instituting anti cheat measures and migrating away from P2P to have server hosted multiplayer
I actually hadn't though about people modding and save editing, that is a very good point
and a much larger portion of the community cares about modding and save editing than PVP
More social Features would be appriciated, like Clans or guilds, have Star system / regions represent If they are claimed by someone (aka since the galactic hub is somewhat Canon, let them represent their civilisation proper in the Game) I wouldnt know how much that would add to the Game, but I think it would be cool
Bigger corvette rooms when
Well to be honest, that's all there is for a community right now so although true, it's a moot point. The game would be 100x the average daily login users if it has proper pvp, and yes without the cheating that creative mode entails. Much like Penguin said, it would just be a part of the game mode, no swapping settings. The only reason this would be bad is for gatekeeping PvE players who don't want others to be happy.
That's like saying the animal crossing community doesn't care for pvp, it's obvious and not necessary to say. What I'm more or less saying is that Nms has the POTENTIAL to be a very cool, if not the current coolest pvp MMO esque game available. With there being no real home for these ppl who want both pvp and a social environment to live in day to day, I think No man's Sky (if they desire to) could make a ton of money and also fans by doing this one thing. Would it be easy? No. Rub someone the wrong way? Only if they're a man child with an entitlement issue. Many gamers have the same argument with the whole 'pves gonna feel left out' thing, but it's a hypocritical take given that it's gatekeeping the game to only fit what THEY want it to be not what it COULD be for many others who also enjoy space games and such.
Pvp isn't just killing each other, it's surviving together. It's protecting your neighbors or even friends. What I'm proposing is a lot and I know that, but I love the game and I want to love it even more.
I do understand where you're coming from, and I agree that the game getting more options for playstyles is a good thing. There is a big risk when trying to focus on more competitive features though, since the game is not built for that sort of thing. In order for the PVP mode to not be full of cheaters and griefers, functionalities that much of the community enjoys like editable saves and modding support would need to be blocked. It's not so much about PVE players being 'left out', it's more about the game losing a lot of the existing community for the sake of a potential PVP base that doesn't really exist.
It's simple, allow that stuff outside of the pvp mode. Problem solved.
If you play on the pvp server, you can't cheat. If you don't, you can.
Seems too simple to be the real solution but that's how it be sometimes
Also the balancing thing would only need slightly tweaked, nobody is expecting a league of legends style balancing support team lol
The name of the game for a truly open ended space pvp scenario is unfairness.
If you're not being a shady piece of shit, you're either a space cop or you're doing it wrong.
This game would never be "competitive" like a lot of other pvp style games. I'm thinking closer to just a better version of Ark.
Also the pvp player base isn't there almost entirely just bcuz the game doesn't have any real pvp. There would be a huge influx of new players if they added it.
Not saying the game NEEDS a ton of new players, bcuz it's already pretty popular
Just saying that it's not a case of splitting a community, more like adding another
I think the planetary social dynamics alone would be fun to mess with, people trying to talk over voice chat to vet you on a strange world.
The game has functionality to detect if mods are loaded, that can be easily bypassed. There is absolutely nothing in place to detect if a save has been edited or if something like cheat engine is running. The multiplayer is peer to peer, so there isn't a server that can monitor interactions to catch people hacking. Again, with how the game is set up, nothing to detect or stop those things is even really feasible. "Just don't allow cheating" isn't really on the table without completely rebuilding the game's multiplayer from scratch so I certainly wouldn't call it a simple answer, especially when the necessary changes would likely be very disruptive to the existing base who do want an easily editable sandbox experience
Are you sure it's peer to peer?
I've seen ransoms before in the open world
Randoms*
I'm fairly new so forgive my ignorance
I thought most of those cheating tools were non available on permadeath?
There is a matchmaking server that keeps track of player locations to connect them if they happen to enter the same system at the same time, but from what I understand all the syncing between players when they do meet is done client to client
Imagine hacking in a game like this. I know ppl do it and it's possible, but damn that's low life scum shit
Reminds me of the losers who hack to sell people dinosaurs on Ark
It sucks that we can't have fun and nice things bcuz the shittiness of human beings knows no bounds
I'm not talking about save editing and stuff in PvE right here, just talking about in pvp
Only the in game difficulty options are blocked for permadeath players (and not all of the options are). PD players can still load mods, edit their saves etc. There aren't many of them out there, but there have been cases of greifers making themselves invincible, removing the tech overloading limit to make weapons that can oneshot, etc and going after other people in permadeath mode
Yeah, hello games would have to fix the mod thing before any real pvp could be added
I think theres a world where both players can be happy, and I believe this dev team could cook up a nice system for it
you could build corvette, freighters, fighters. we start with corvette, go until the end.
Yeah. They could expand some more on character customization.
Also they could separate the freedom hood from the helmet or give us different hooded helmets

personally, I want them to shift focus to multi-player for the next update, more in game functionality, better sync, more robustness, a new multi-player interface, ability to see player bases in the star map when you have it enabled
They gotta add some of the removed galactic map stuff back. Until Next I think, you could see if a system had been discovered when you selected it, you could also do a scan and auto select the nearest system discovered by another player (if there was one within the scan's distance)
No idea why they decided to just remove those features
honestly I want that function, where you can see not just if its been discovered, but if there's a base there. Because if im traveling through a region and see a cluster of systems with bases in them, im detouring to check it out, its a nice discovery
