Okay okay, I get the want for having your own space stations, but I feel like they need to flesh out base building on planets, freighters, and Corvettes first, to me they all feel a little samey
ooo
I don't see a point in trying to build a base on a planet when I get a portable one on a Freighter
yeah true
Like freighters could be used for absolutely so much more than just a cargo ship
this game did me so dirty bro spawned me on a planet for the first time that has firestorms every 3 mins ššš
i mean, they're all using the same base-building system, just with a number of exclusive parts depending on what you're building (ground base, freighter, corvette, underwater base)
I think for the next update there should be more abandoned planets and biome diversity. Like realistic. Or maybe im asking for too much. But I would like for one planet to have different biomes
Well to the extent of the builder it's different, but not in terms of functionality y'know?
i feel like they should allow you to add more decorations etc into your corvette or base correct me if iām stupid and they already do but i mean on like subnautica level decorations
like in subnautica you can have a whole ass room thatās a aquarium yeah it has no use but itās very cool to just have especially in like a corvette or something lol
i think polar ice caps and sub-biomes would be cool (different variations of the same biome) but not like, one part lava and one part paradise or something
though having major geographical features like that would be cool
like rare volcanoes on any planet
planets with active supermsssive volcanos would be fire
In terms of updates that need additions here's my list:
Gas giants need more variety, the only difference in any of them is color, in functionality it's all the same
Base building, we need more functionality if we're gonna be building so many bases, maybe a scanner that scans all the flora and fauna for you, maybe a race track to race someone, maybe a military type base where you research different weapons and tools, exo craft hangars, just to name a few
Multiple freighters, I want massive fleets, and I want my fleet to take part in massive battles, maybe a mission board can be put on your freighter for people who want that.
An update to movement, I feel like sliding, jumping, and vaulting should be in the game.
procedurally generated alien structures like dungeons, or research stations, or military bases, you could grab fancy loot to sell for a high price to the pirate organization, or even a new militaristic faction.
And also there's a lot you can do with Corvettes, ship repairs, landing on asteroids, ship to ship boarding and combat
Maybe they'll give it to sentinels and you can disable their engines and board?
i think a scanner that scans all the flora and fauna would be way too powerful, since discovering all of them gives nanites
i do know that there are race checkpoints and the exocraft geobays
so, for things like tracks and hangars, you can build your own
the game already has jumping in the form of the jetpack, but i think i get what you mean
the idea of researching different things by building your own base to do so (like you said, military stuff, wepaons and tools) is such a cool idea
and i do agree that we need more proc-gen structures like that
i know we have derelicts, but that's all we have
so more dungeon-type structures, especially in unique locations, would be so cool
maybe one with an entrance on the surface (But maybe covered in flora and minerals to hide it?), maybe one in a cave, maybe one underwater
i feel like if they add such an update, they should just say that they've added the dungeons themselves and not tell us where to find them, so that it'd be a surprise while wandering naturally and not just beelining for their locations
I would really like to see a toggle for the new "hero lighting" so I can turn it off, obviously it's personal taste but for me it personally makes third person gameplay unenjoyable, completely separating my character from the environment, here's an image someone uploaded in this server (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/212051634790858754/1411562819824124004/image.png?ex=68b91051&is=68b7bed1&hm=287e4bbd6c9d06e428c16fcaca5bd5fb09a4b681f09eec210744836acc9d5f0a) demonstrating how in a completely black void with zero external environmental lighting, the character remains fully lit under this new system, I don't want my character to stand out from the environment, I want them to be a part of the environment, it kinda removes some of the feeling of the desolation and emptiness of space when there's an invisible studio light constantly illuminating my character, but even in a well lit environment it's extremely obvious, constantly highlighted the edges of my character in an unnatural way
I'd like to see more variaty in building
You and the rest of us
And more animal variables to generate fauna from!
Dont worry we still got a big AI over haul to come
we could have Laylaps upload its scan data to us since it randomly scans stuff if left alone
I agree with you, it's definitely unnatural lighting and there should be an option
We need a better way to store a Corvette on a Freighter.
STUFF LIKE THIS PLEASE I BEG
Long story short, I want sideways cowling
I am begging for better transitions between hab wideness
I don't know much about part names, but I'm sure y'all are getting the gist of my problem
Yeah there's cowling + arcadia blade but that takes up a lot of length
And yes, I would love these parts with shorter/walkway sized variants
best place to give this kind of feedback is really to their zendesk, as HG doesn't really look at this channel officially

@cloud vector
Yeah I'm going to
I just have no idea what these parts would be called
I have a idea for the corvette mountable guns you see the corvette was designed in mind for co-op play right so why does it not have mountable guns for other players to use i could really see this be expanded upon when pirates attack corvette that the system will flag for a different pirate attack with slightly more craft attacking you from all sides as well as teleport drones onto your ship that will distrupt systems.
Yet if you don't have other players allow us to hire NPC with stats that would mount the guns instead.
The way this would work is a new room called hardpoint access that on top of it will have a viewing port with a gun that can rotate 360 degrees also this room can be rotated from upright, sideways or upside-down so the gun can be placed on the roof under the belly or on the sides of the ship.
As for anything killed loot will go directly into the ships storage.
There are things datamined that suggest that this kind of functionality might be on the way, tho nothing confirmed. Probably just things that didn't get finished for launch.
Yeah i was assuming it would be in the works but if not i just submit my 2 cent lol
I think such a system is going to require such work due to the game in the current state does not have 2 player active instance of a ships functions.
Even with corvettes its still technically a 1 player active instance being the one flying the ship.
Since most of the corvettes' functional parts show up as actual tech in the inventory, it would be cool if repairing that tech after it's been damaged required you to actually physically interact with the relevant part instead of just fixing it from the inventory screen. Sort of like the frigate repairs. This would add some nice gameplay to space walking and would also help the corvettes feel like the larger ships they are. Ideally they would also allow other players to repair the parts too, not just the owner of the ship.
Really?
Jumping into a black hole without ur ship should do some, teleport you into a ābackroomsā planet thatās just a giant maze you have to go through to find ur ship
Service hallways that are like ladders, for smaller connections,
3x3 and taller habs/ the ability to break down the walls and roof if thereās another hab next to it.
Expanse style ships where they are built like skyscrapers using the Gs from propulsion to generate gravity.
Switches for gravity gens, oxygen, and thermals
Did I mention smaller passageways? Like a submarine hallway, or smaller air-vents to lead to habs, without the big hallways.
Maybe add mechanical parts to the settlement feature? Like having pumps and pipes going into the ground setup to pump liquid crystals (the red ones, sorry been up 24 hours on a NMs binge im so tired lol), and you can use that to have auto fueling pads, setup oxygen farming and pump it inside.
Have it generated from windmills, water during storms, electrical storms, solar, basically a mechanical system that can power things, like a refiner for example
Then a toggle to make survival harder where bases would need oxygen setup, landing pads donāt conserve fuel use, and you need to constantly have oxygen generation on planets, your freighter and corvettes. (On the regular ships it would just be a technology module, meaning if that gets broken, you HAVE to fix it before time runs out, unless you just keep your suit oxygenated, or get to your freighter, or base with landing pad and refuel.
Could add hydrolysis to the water bases, where itās a saltwater refiner, making hydrogen/rocket fuel, and oxygen.
Cooling or heating the different chemicals and gasses using the mechanical systems and tech, could let you make elements you may not have access to on that planet, or ārefineā certain elements that you wouldnāt be able to make before
Already have chemistry albeit in the games own way, might as well add engineering in its own unique way.
Could add special steampunk/handbuilt ships that look like the mechanical parts were using
I hope the next update revisits mission generation. With Corvettes now getting a mission radar on them, this feels like the right time to do this too. The corvette uses the space station pool of missions I think, which are a bit uninspired. With the game doing so well in bringing back people, it feels like the right time. And with HG's focus on revisiting older systems to refine them, it feels this is a good place to look.
Even ones that just make you explore a derelict, or deal with a pirate dreadnaught incursion, would be better than gathering space poop.
Add space missions, that involve leaving your corvette to explore
Do you know if they plan to ever fix the bugs with Buzzing Eggs and Whispering Eggs, which are impossible to collect because the interaction points are broken?
Adding content when the rest of it already doesn't work properly doesn't make people want to play Light No Fire in the future.
so the futur Fix issues please

It's been fixed for me on most recent experimental.
So it should come to consoles within the next week.
Are the glitches in cargo ships fixed too?
The ones that prevent you from landing on the ground, or from walking through stairs, or from walking through the floor in hallways š
I agree with this because it also allows other players to help with repairs.
I LOVE this idea
They could even just apply a weathered effect to that part similar to what they added in beacons for when its damaged, and then have a special repair tool on our multitool so we shoot it with a beam to do the repair. Kind of like a welding multitool.
Its in the experimental at the moment I think.
So should be fixed with the next public update.
it would be difficult, but i think it would be cool if there were a pool of "parts" for animals to generate from so you can have the same biodiversity as the amount of planets in the game
same for resources and other things of the sort
i wish there was a way to discover cooking recipes other than experimenting, i can't find any complicated recipes :(
Got a question that I hope a dev or mod could answer.
Does no manās sky have plans to continue development for free updates once light no fire releases?
Or will they shift their focus and development for light no fire instead and put no manās sky on the back burner? It would be a shame that once light no fire releases, no manās sky gets lack luster development and free updates after their new game comes out.
Where can I post questions and suggestions to the game so Hello Games can read it?
Well, I can post it here and hope they will see it.
What would be very cool after release of ocean planet with very deep water, we need something better than Nautilon Submarine to explore the deep. We need a Corvette Submarine which we can build and also be able to dock our Nautilon to the big one. š
I have one gripe with skydiving and itās the fact that you canāt dive.
Push yourself forward you should fall into a dive, pull back you can spread out and slow down.
Hope it gets added/fixed soon
I would love to be able to transport NPCs in our corvettes to like different galaxies for maybe a new currency or smth. totally so I can not start up my NPC trafficking business..
I'm not sure if the engine would allow this, and it might be kind of niche, but I'd love it for us VR players if we could toggle through weapons and gadgets and whatnot completely through the actual cockpit controls. Or at least a better solution than having to pull up things like that on your wrist.
A bounty hunting based update. Combat is reworked to include humanoid enemy pirates. You can be them in dead or alive, with the new Stun function you can craft for your multi tool. These targets will also have bases (on ground and on ships) you can raid as well.

The utilization of the station core in this expedition makes me feel like they're gearing us up for future use of it in a coming update. Would be really cool to interact with it in the future in normal gamplay.
This is an official server (in the sense NMS website directs to this as their Discord) run by the community.. We suspect HG team might be watching but best way is to do it via Zendesk as given above
Best way to get to them is the direct line through the Zendesk, as Desktop suggested. Posting here has a very low chance, if any of being seen by HG.
We need a griddy emote in the quicksilver shop
I think theyāve said both games kind of feed each other
There is, they just are similar in each system by design
interstellar ahh
is there any plans for humanoid enemies? like ground battles that isnt just sentinels. like you go to a station or outpost on a planet and have to fight pirate gek korvax or velkyn? i think that can really flesh our the gameplay on planets and make them feel alive
Imagine entering an abandoned space station by space walking because there are no functional landing pads
Or we have torpedos/droppods we can get in
Just breach an abandoned station, freighter.
Or let us make our own pirate stations
Drop Pods dont really make much sense since it would not have any good use except for combat, ive talked about sentinel dominated planets and drop pods would fit on what I said
Drop pod exocrafts.
Lil pilotable escape/breach ships
We desperately need the ability to āhoverā park the corvettes from the surface. Many a water planet and mountain planets I struggled to get in a ship on
This server is 100% volunteer/NMS community run. The devs are aware of it and probably lurk, but if you want them to see any suggestion guaranteed use the zendesk.
Iāll @ Sean Murray rn
You can hover park, just leave the pilot seat near the ground, and if it does not let you leave the pilot seat just roll the ship
From the ground itself, when your requesting vehicles
Oh yeah
Iāve hover parked every time since discovery, but sometimes portal placement or gravity prevents re-entry.
Plus it really doesnāt like water
Try walking in your ship while itās underwater lol
Ig the autopilot should be an option for when you are not piloting it, call in your corvette and it literally starts going in your direction
That could be fun haha. Or have autopilot set to follow you in general providing backup/allowing your crew in the future to man the weapons
I like using the get up feature for the scanner missions where I have to echolocate shit, or find minerals, just getting out my chair and doing a quick scan before flying 100km again
Whatd be nice is if we added multiple markers to the scanner so when you go too far, you can add one, and use the data on like a map to triangulate center
I feel like the HUD should receive an overhaul, even if it was only a color change, for QoL
Living corvettes
Instead of being buildable, they could tie into the companion gene editing system
Allow people to claim abandoned stations and build them up like bases. Id much rather they be dungeons with maze-like corridors and mimi-bosses, but barring that, it's a good way to make space bases possible.
Omg this is fire
Like the cylon goop growing on the Galactica
Neat. Game already has story mechanics too that can align
Airships, much faster than conventional space ships, about 6x or more faster, but they cannot stop mid air and obviously cannot leave the atmosphere, they can be delivered through freighters as an exocraft and customization should be the same as the fighter class ship, and they have less acceleration so you need to actually have a plain terrain and speed to take off
All freighter bugs should be fixed i.e missing textures glitched landings
Hey y'all I'm submitting this on zendesk, and I don't know what to call the subject. What would these parts be called? I don't think 'sideways cowling' is accurate
This could just be copium, but for the ten year anniversary, I'm imagining an update that gives planets multiple biomes on a single planet since we got walkable ships, another highly requested feature
Technically, those do exist, but they're kind of weird
True, but I'm talking 4 or more on a single planet. Doesn't have to be entire different planet types, just like changed colors and elevation and such
Living Freighters too. :^)
I want fleshy interiors for both!
WITH BIOLUMINESCENT LIGHTS!
Oh and Corvette editing for Bases and Freighters. That'd be good.
CORVETTE LANDING PADS so they don't land INSIDE OF MY BASES
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJwGUg_eVOQ
I want this:
Shadows of the Shroud will release on September 22nd!
Reach beyond the material realm, attune your Empire to ancient powers beyond time and reshape your destiny. The deeper you delve, the harder it is to return.
The time to pierce the veil is nearly at hand.
Learn more: https://pdxint.at/4p2dvPr
Get it with a discount in Stellaris: Season 09:...
that and a freighter base rework
I'd like to see a corvette hanger that we can store our exocrafts. Custom built submarines, boats, & space stations
And freighters. Also the ability to terraform planets
OH! I want underwater leviathans similar in size at least to the huge sandworms.
A way to pick which guns fire on the corvette because getting the right ones to fire is really annoying
Oh my god, I'm shooting my own ship, maybe fix that
You know what No Mans Sky needs? More emotion. I want to feel excited, scared, or lonely. I want to be able to feel fear due to certain circumstances. I want to feel in awe for finding something rare, I want to be happy by seeing NPCs having real experiences, and then I want to be able to feel lonely when I enter an uninhabited system. I want to feel threatened or that I am in danger when I enter a pirate system. I don't know what would be the best way to do this, but I think it would be a very cool update if they did.
Itās kind of amazing theyāve brought even a little life into it. I remember in 2016 how sterile it all was.
But yeah. Tricky because of how the loops seem to operate.
Thats fair. I'm just thinking it would be really cool to have something like a planet type that only appears in one of every thousand systems, or maybe like a horror planet where the fog/atmosphere is so dense and dark that you can only see up to 15 units ahead of you. Something like that.
this makes me thing that if gas giant planets had a moon sized core it would be cool lmao
just make a mechanic that makes harder to see as you go down
Put good corvette loot down there
Ohh, that could be cool. Or maybe a cave system, that could work too
We also need partial cylinders, and semi-circles. Why don't we have those? Please I need them
this is gonna be really far-fetched but i think, with the new modular ship building we have with the corvettes, they should expand upon this. maybe, just maybe, modular capital ships? im not saying interior, im saying build a capital ship entirely from scratch, using modular parts. it would really add some creativity to what we have with freighters and capitals. just an idea, only possible if corvettes are entirely stable.
Oh I would KILL for this
Perhaps we could have an interior system similar to the habs, but with required variants?
i.e crew quarters variant, engineering, variant, cargo variant, etc
And an empty variant to use for your own purposes?
Yea, that's exactly what I was thinking.
I don't know about capital ships, but how about frigates? I feel like those are the perfect size
Couple different main rooms, like crew quarters and engneering, both required, and like 5 different empty rooms
i mean sure, up to HG for the way we go with this, but i would love to just build a capital ship.
Thats fair
I think I would need to see some serious improvements with capital ship gameplay before I felt that was a good use of their limited dev time. right now freighters really don't do much, and we can already build quite elaborate bases on them
yea, but ive always had this thing for building/designing massive ships. What I think would be nice is the ability to control much larger ships like freighters through systems instead of just being static basis in planetary orbit, woudl bring a lot more life to them
Yeah, I get it. I think there's always been this contrast between players who really want it to be an in-depth game and those who really see the game as more of a creative playground. I'm sure it's hard for HG to decide where to spend that time
i mean dont get me wrong im amazed and happy with what we have, but.. yk..
yeah all of us always want more. it's just that everyone has their own ideas of what would be the perfect game lol
honestly, itll never be perfect, im not aiming for perfect, just trying to build upon a new mechanic we have in a way that would satisfy a (what im assuming is) large portion of players. The only way it would be perfect is if HG added everything everyone wanted, which is just... nto possible, i bet it would break the game
I think No Man's sky needs more difficulty, like, monsters, Boss fight, complex ship battles and more
And one thing I feel when I play the game, is the "empty on the planet" not that it is bad, but that it needs a better procedural generation, with denser fauna and flora, it would be really cool to see something like that
saw a building mod today that quite expands what you can put inside your corvette
really impressive, now i need to add some wooden floors and settlement tables on mine
okay you know what. skydiving is great. give us a keybind to just activate skydive mode anytime we're in freefall
Id like to see other races introduced in some fashion, I found the escape pods of other species that was pretty cool
I feel like the story could still be good if it added more races, idk why we just have korvax vykeen gek and now autophage, there should be more
I think now with ship building and eva's. We should now have to exit our ships in space to repair them. Maybe not mandatory but give us a reason to space walk. Deploy satellites, telescopes, board another vessel for either a rescue or combat.
We need helmets for existing races first!! Going on a derelict freighter or spacewalking without a helmet feels weird
[Things i would like to see fixed about Voyager]
I recently noticed some stuff in connection to the new Corvette Starships - which i really appreciate and got hyped for - that concerns me.
Refiner and Nutrient Processor Reset:
Whenever i put something into my Refiners or NutProcessors, then go into a Warp the Inventories reset and empty themselves with my materials lost.
Cape stuttering during Pulse Drive
Do you think they will add living/alien freighter and cockpit for corvette ?
I love the living style with ship and fregate and i want more thing like that

Please report this to HG so that they could take a look
Oke
This seems to be a big bug
Did it š
So that's where all the tainted metal i brought into the expedition to refine into nanites went...
Probably...
wait you can build space stations
A building freecam for the corvette
I don't get why it's not a thing
I usually have to go first person to even see past my character
But then it constantly says "Object too close" but if i build from further away it messes up too much
No, this channel is for saying what you wish could be in the game in the future.
oh
Imagine having specific terminals in a corvette to control the weapon system so u can have a friend control the weapons for you.
With a major space combat enhancement
Hello games. Yall should make it so we can share and import other corvette designs!
I like that, definitely suggest that one
!hg
Submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I submitted it
Awesome
Still thinking the game needs the language system to function like Chants of Sennaar
It really isn't a "language system" per se but more so just like naturalized language
I am praying for the ability to replay any expedition any time š
Also probably have an on/off and a unique font options in accessibility for those with dyslexia
Me too
Corvette selling to players, itād be cool to be a starship salesman lol just food for thought
I would definitely buy one some of the corvettes Iāve seen people build are insanely good
Thatās what Iām saying lol
Can hello games make the all the things in nms accessible for 3d printing. Some of us would like to cosplay NMS in cons! And yes I said ALL. That way there are not two of us the same.
Sell the files! Just make it accessible!
yeah they should do a player market with minimum prices set , it would be amazing
So no matter how people save adit or dupe wont change anything
Here are some of my thoughts about NMS 6.0
the corvettes are awesome but have room for improvement
would love to see hallo games lean more into the multicrew aspects of the corvette doing the expedition with some friends reveald that the corvettes are lacking in that department as far as i can tell the only multicrew aspect so far is the mission board and that other players can enter the ship that is not a multicrew vessel thats a taxi also the rotation options of some of the parts are a bit limiting and the interior parts could also use some more basic option like a wall module that removes a wall between to modules or removes the doorframe speaking of doors actuall doors for the ship like the landing bay but for exiting the corvette to the side
to the solution of the multicrew problem a 2x2 or 2x3 cockpid or bridge would be cool so all players can take a seat during flight and maybe even control a turret during combat because combat for anyone walking inside the corvette is a nightmare one of my friends almost threw up and he wasn't even playing in vr as for the other things a guess new parts will come with time and more updates so lets wait and see
We need a bathroom module too
Poop on a space walk
We need an option to use a corvette as a base for the purposes of the main quest so we can go full nomad
It would be cool if freigthers could release ships from below
You already have freighters for that
One is provided for free as well
just placed a landing pad on mine . looks amezing , i posted here on disc
i wish we could have like, rare survivors aboard derelicts or something
wait a sec, i just had an amazing idea
corvette-exclusive rescue missions
find stranded npcs anywhere
derelicts, planets, anything
bring them aboard your corvette
(maybe they'd need to be stored in a bed or medipod, or they'd walk around)
and then you'd bring them to safety, and get a reward
Woah, can you link the post? I wanna do it as well
I wish they expand further with the ships having gravity tech and apply them onto Freighters & Frigates, make freighters able to move throughout space. The possibilities for dynamic spaces are pretty insane thanks to their implementation of it on Corvettes. Can potentially make in-atmosphere frigates more interactable, like seeing frigates raided by pirates/sentinels, and having to board them as they're flying and fend off waves of enemies. Or potentially having freighters that have lost in a space battle fall and burn up into a nearby planet's atmosphere. Freighter VS Freighter feels near-so reachable now and there's so much potential in just making civilized space feel much more livelier.
Ofc collision & clipping seems to be the biggest issue with these dynamic zones, but hopefully once you guys crack the code it can open up to bringing it to floating landmasses, flying colossal creatures, etc.
Absolutely endless! Ik this is all far-reached, but regardless, I just want HG to work future updates off of Voyagers, this new innovation with seamless ship interiors, dynamic bases, spacewalk evo'ing, etc. It's all too good to just have it be standalone like some of the other recent updates HG have made.
Remove the zenith reactor requirement, I don't always want it and hiding that thing is so freaking annoying, it's really messing with my building
I think you're right, this feels like the start of a whole new feature focus, and with NMS having its highest player count since launch, I think they would be silly not to capitalise on what clearly people are interested in. They are onto a winner! But I think they also know it. I feel things like the EVA spacewalking are more setting up for things to come. Because its a neat feature that isn't really used just yet.
Exactly, this feels almost like a NEXT situation where every now-and-then they release an update that the entire community desperately wanted.
We've talked about more space POIs before, and i think now they have a good base foundation to add them
For real, there's a LOT of potential with the tech they produced this update.
mhm, and we know some of what they're thinking about adding next from datamining
but i can't say here.
I think the direction they are going with this is incorporating more of the existing game with this tech.
I am very much looking forward to what those datamines allude to
Spill the tea in my DMs
It's hilarious that you can even use Star Citizen as an example of what they can do with this tech now, the fact NMS can reach potential like Star Citizen, an almost $1 billion funded pre alpha, insane.
ooh, I haven't really caught up on that, can ya tell me in #nms-spoilers
I won't compare... I think each game had it's strength and weakness, but i do think i have more faith in helo games then start citizen too deliver on what players actually want
Can you ping me the relevant info in #nms-spoilers ?
I just pinged it there.
The fact you can EVA to basically anything and gravity works like it should is a massive sign
One of my friends died and was respawned above a planet without her spaceship so was falling to the planet.
And i actually managed to catch her with the corvette by flying under her. The fact that was possible was crazy! I half expected it not to work.
as of the latest Steam experimental you can now EVA through black holes š
it spits you out exactly where it would if you went through in a ship except you're still EVAing and your ship isn't in the system
(but you can still summon it ofc)
I would love to city cities on planets with more NPCs also Freighter battles and guilds? I dont think anyone would disagree with this!
That's so cool
One thing I really want rn is a drop pod module šš
landing pad
maybe something that will come in the future properly?
We need an option to open the corvette hatch from the pilot seat. We also should be able to use autopilot without getting out of the seat
I wish there was a way to gid rid of companions that didn't feel like you were just dumping them by the side of the interstellar highway š
This playful platypus wasp guy is a nice giant bug, but now that I have a basic comprehension of how they function, he is not optimal.
New trader dude(s), maybe in the space station for each system: Wildlife Conservator. After you have one tamed to a certain level, you can transfer custody to them for some little perks and with the narrative being that they are going to become a "Wildlife Ambassador" or something . . . something . . . You get a little final cut scene with the critter in which they are joyous at having "graduated" to this stage and they are thankful and a bit tearful that you are departing. BUT! (even better) you can always go back to the planet where they will be "stationed" to visit them again!
are there any plans for the ability to make custom space stations/ build bases on asteroids ?
It does feel like the corvette tech could be used now to do do the fleet vs. fleet ship battles that so many have wanted for a long time. If they can move corvettes around with interior spaces, then surely they could apply that to freighters and frigates as well
a base on an asteroid? that's a lil too wild
im pretty sure it was a feature promised on release that never came so its not that wild
THESE DEVS NEED TO FIX BUGS BEFORE DROPPING MORE BIG UPDATES. SO TIRED OF EVERYTHING BEING SO BROKE
It was definitely not a feature promised at release
The engine limitations might disagree...
Apologies if I missed this elsewhere. Has anyone heard of any plans to make NMS a true coop instead of the current shared solo setup? It would make the game a lot more attractive to more folks if they could group together and share. For example tribes (or whatever you want to call them) would own bases, ships etc. and anyone in that "tribe" would have ownership rights.
I've become obsessed with the idea of settlements being added to freighters as colonies. It really would fill a hole for where all the aliens are when they're chilling.
Think of some of the freighter bases people build, if they could procedurally generate just 25% of that level of creativity it would really fill the hole for cities/towns IMO
They also shouldn't given to you until you unlock purple systems or you complete the artemis quest.
Then, because normal starships are ridiculously useless now, regular starships could double as pilots you use/assign to colonies you're the overseer of for protection. Like frigate missions they could use the star ratings and if they're damaged, you have to repair them to send them back out.

Can we post videos here?
Tag the mods, there's nothing that disallows it but better asking
@hot flame
Lets point out bugs that are bad.
- Nexus Weekend mission bugged tellign everyone the mission is in another system that cannot be found even though it supposed to warp you there
- Settlement defense is bugged. Spent 1 hour killing over 128 total sentinels while it kept say 4 more
- Bug that makes weapon disappear and unusable, Cannot raise hatch on corvette or even enter it. cannot access galaxy map forcing you to lose all progress (for the millionth time) to start new lobby
- Unable to see other players freighters or corvettes almost 80% of the time
- Mission bugged and not showing objective markers
I have enough to keep going for another 30 minutes on bugs. So fix this stuff its quite bad and game breaking for a lot of people
Look it up. "Cosplay"
well you requested "all the things in NMS" to be 3D printable so it made me think you wanted to cosplay as something other than a Gek
anyway I support your crusade because I've wanted 3D printed versions of my ships for years
HG doesn't really go hard with merch though, sadly
Quicker response if you use #contact-us
What's the video?
Some minigames you could play with NPCs or other players maybe even a cozy cafƩ in the Space Anomaly where we can play a card game against each other. Could be themed around the lore and experiences in NMS.
Would really like to see a combat update - combat at the moment is mostly just point and click and it gets very easy, boring and repetitive
Also a freighter update could be cool - maybe adding cargo pods and smaller freighters like the NPC fleets
also please make atmosphere colour visible in the discoveries menu
Would love to see buildable exocraft now, just imagine a big vehicle that can hold multiple people like the Elephant from Halo 3 only you can modify it to look like or be like whatever you want and just have it roam the plane's surface, bonus points if they make buildable aquatic ones as well
I don't know if this is a hot take or not but the Thunderbird-Class Cockpit interior really need some work. It looks so bare bones and even somewhat boring compared to the other two, while also looking great from the exterior.
also, they should add the part trading system to normal starship parts as well, like wings, engines, and cockpits
ship part hunting is an unnecessary part of NMS for people who want to create their own ships, and now that we already have a system for easily getting specific parts for corvettes, we should have one for starships as well
An attempt to rob a frigate which I hope they could add as a feature
Sure, as long as it's meant for what you want to see in NMS it's fine here
Hey what are some cool ideas you guys have come up with that you would want to see in the future of no mans sky?
The corvette needs something that other players can help during combat. Like a turret that we can get inside and shoot. Cause watchin ur friends fight while ur inside the corvette doin nothing is so boring.
Here's mine every week a system get under attack by pirates or sentinels. But ere the thing it's a new class of ship one much bigger then the capital ships. So what do you do you go to the anomaly and there your put into a group of 10-15 other players and are all transported to the system where the attack is taking place where you fist have to defend the civilian ships so they can evacuate the system then together you have to fight off waves of attackers. Then finally the big one arrives and you have to work together with your team to take it down.
ALRIGHT! Let us discuss the future here.
I want to see a mass diversification of the Sentinels, you gave two sentinel subsets now, but imagine if we had SEVEN variants, each one with different habits, mannerisms, and attack protocols as well as composition and design.
I would LOVE to see Sentinel planets as well where you will be expected to fight endless hordes of Sentinels for the rare bounties to be found there.
I would love to be able to build bases in space like imagine building a orbital base around a black hole that would be awesome
Also would love if hg could completely fix corvettes cause putting decorations inside still causes spinning issues aswell as the hatch opening itself and corvettes no longer actually landing on water
Also would be cool if they companions you can interact with and travel around planets with Also would be cool if we could get npc crew mates for corvettes
If only we could rob frigates this way and it gave you an instant 5 star sentinel rating
A random player will be seeing
Log entry 4135
Came under assault by a mad-man trying to hijack ship. Attempt went poorly and hijacker fell off ship. Power diverted to shields and crew continued survey. Findings catalogued to Universal Archive

done
Can we get steampunk style corvette attachments, preferably a lot of them with wooden textures?
I hope they add landing pads we can build for our corvettes
We could use a spot at the anomaly to show off community corvettes for sale
i think that corvettes need a heavy nerf, they should be slowed and cost more to fuel.
i feel like they should be IN BETWEEN starships and freighters, rather than just being better starships.
so with the med bay and sleeping pod i feel like they are going to be adding some kind of health system upgrade maybe
i think corvette need landing pad or maybe teleport pad for base, like the one from freighter that use hologram and never touch land, we can use beam teleport , when teleport to the base using portal the corvette will just hover above you
I definitely think they should be less maneuverable than the single-seater ships. But to balance that they would probably need to make the turrets an actual functional thing
Corvette should have actual solar sails
iām pretty sure they are gonna very much expand corvette functionality
yea teleporting without ācreatingā a teleport pad would be nice. and beaming back
the expedition has a little device that warps from planet side directly to the station, so something like that would be cool
or at least a beamable location
significantly sized ones are definitely between freighters and starships
npc corvettesā¦they kinda exist as those ships we sometimes see in planet atmosphere
starships should be better than corvettes in at least a few ways tho
they are slightly more maneuverable in some cases and thatās kinda it
i mean my corvette turns like a boat
ya the maneuverability is lacking for sure
hmmm. bugged out when i tried this lol
except for that one bug when you hit an asteroid and you spin faster than the speed of light
i thought i was hitting something i built on the vette lol
I want placeable doors for the corvette. Just simple doors, similar to the Bulkhead Doors you can put in freighter bases. That way I can make an airlock and hop out of ship more easily in space.
i want an elevator so I don't have to rely on ladders and awkward stairs. for all base building
The stairs are finicky to use
Should give feedback to HG
Elevators / lifts are so much better
Yes they are lol
I want more hodded helmets
They should add solo starship weapon control!!. so that friends can ride in the same starship and be useful.
guy's vote for this add
I would really like if there was Steam Workshop integration. I know thereās a lot of work that goes into that kinda thing, but itās also a change that has made a number of games basically immortal in terms of playerbase. For example: Civ V is still worth getting because its mod community , and in particular Vox Populi, is so robust that it plays like a modern game. Same idea with KSP1 (and, to a much more smothered extent, KSP2)

Day 1 of begging for cities š
Iād love to see mechanical differentiation between freighters, corvettes, and small craft. Right now thereās really no reason to fly a small craft beyond ease of access, and being able to land on water & fish. Iād love to see each type of ship have a unique role in wider content, from combat to exploration & trade.
I want to be able to spawn in a companion on my corvette ship that will stay there until i spawn him somewhere else or a different pet. If one of them could chill in our ship that would make us see our companions a lot more frequently:)
imagen once you fully unlocked all base parts and you got an A or S-class settlement hitting max capacity, one of your settlers gives you an expansion request and sends you to talk to your overseer. your overseer then send you on a mission to collect infrastructural blueprints and you can start building your city with massive 100mx100m stilted foundations so terrain wont be an issue and contain snap point for streets, building and sky scarper modules with procedurally generated interiors you can stack floor by floor
cities could serve both as a bigger settlement and a base limited to 1 per player and 1km x 1km in size as they are essentially the planet side equivalent of a freighter providing infrastructure no other base type provides like corvette landing pads and workshops, factory buildings that automatically turn ore into products, a shield generator that encompasses the entire city and deflects any type of weather event, outskirt turrets that automatically deal with aggressive wildlife and sentinels.
the gameplay loop for cities would be similar too settlements in terms of increase productivity decrease maintenance keep inhabitants happy and increase population but the way you do that would be fundamentally different to settlements
Productivity
instead of having buildings generate units out of thin air you have two types of options factories and shops factories provide products to shops that turn them into units based on market rates but need resources. you can assign frigates to collect resources form other bases with in a limited ly range that have miners and silos or you can send them to buy resources on space stations in other systems using the cities funds your productivity is based of how much products your factory can produce and that's based on how many resources you can provide in a 24h window
Maintenance
maintenance this time would cost both units and resources in order to perform repairs and fuel the powerplants without enough fuel a power outage will disable all factories turrets and the weather shield
available power structures would include
coal power plants which require condensed carbon that can be provided by local farms
nuclear power which requires uranium more space/power efficient but require frigate delivery's
while rooftop solar cells and silo sized battery's provide backup power
inhabitants happiness
in cities inhabitants happiness is determined by availability of housing, job opportunity's, greenery and safety against sentinel attacks and weather
population
population would rise naturally but slow but you can always migrate more settlements into your city or accept travelers who wanna settle down each species could provide their own unique sets of modules and infrastructure
Gek could provide nuclear powerplants
vy'keen could provide defense turrets
korvax weather defense shields
and the autophage could provide you with reprogrammed sentinel units that patrol your city like a police force
but in the end this is all just brainstorming their are countless ideas and at least as many limitations Hallo games would need to factor in its up to them if they want to bring cities to no mans sky i personally would love to see them do it and i thing they would fill some of the emptiness on the planets
hear me out guys, an update where blueprints can be shared, but they are priced(depending on the owner's preference)
like, it can go from free blueprints, to both the currencies of the game
Ex.
Corvette: (Name)
Description:(...)
Price: (Units/Nanites)
Building Cost:(...)
and the most bought blueprint, gets featured in a showcase
I feel like for the future, they should focus on existing things, more like base building and automation, because it does feel a bit lackluster, I get the whole point of the game is to explore, but sometimes I just want to build a nice looking bases and it's very hard to do with the current tools, not to mention automation for resources would be immensely helpful
base building specifically should be completely overhauled
See now this. This is what we need fr.
Again, the #1 thing in -->MY<-- opinion holding this game back is how lifeless it feels,
Send ts to a dev
Its beautiful
Overhauled how? Could you share some ideas?
A lot more tools for building, but I've been informed that it would probably never happen
Kind of like what satisfactory has where you have complete control on where stuff goes
Like if I'm trying to place something on a ceiling in this game, it kind of like spins around, ish and doesn't place exactly where you want to place it because of the way the snapping stuff is designed or something
Agree, yeah that's a bit annoying when it happens
Do yk what could be cool?
What if they added a bigger plot/range to build a Corvette and than with a special part that allows Starship to go out and in easily without an cut scĆØne or anything and add a tool where you can remove the the wall between hulls
imagine this, something like ball turret, you can use it while hovering, or other corvette crew can provide fire support in space combat, or maybe can be installed with terrain manipulator, mining from air
they MUST add the ability to see more than 30 bases on the planet
Cities donāt work in this engine. Just two colossal archives next to each other can potentially cause the game to crash.
Not to mention that theyād need to retcon lore, the Sentinels wonāt even allow Settlements to thrive.
anyone else actually think base building could really have an update? like an expansion adding a bunch of new tools to make bases even cooler
oh haha that was literally said above with an overhaul
id imagine new prebuilt base modules, new mechanics like i think an elevator was mentioned a little bit above, new furniture, ways to integrate things used in glitch building more so that it's more accessible too!! Hell let us build bases on certain larger asteroids or even, with a lot of time and commitment in the late game, develop our own space station as a base too
suggestion⦠when you finish a mission involving lore you get a log you can read through to re read the summary. I kinda lose track often and would love to re read the stuff i missed
AKA a "Completed" section of the log
categories for main quests and generative/space station/nexus quests (those ones would be deleted after so long)
with counters for how many missions/quests you've done
Well we had the corvette update which I liked. Next update I'd like to see us build our own space station. I'm currently in an uninhabited outlaw system docked at a empty space station. Be cool if we got a future update that allowed us to do something with them
i was just about to write something about that, the existence of uninhabited stations already makes for a perfect foundation
being able to control an entire system would be really fun
Eventually I'd like to see older ship classes either get folded into the Corvette system or have large variants with interiors made
Stuff like haulers, explorers etc
Especially if it would mean several procedural types of npc corvette
Also
New tilesets for corvettes, stuff like solar and royal sets
Atlas styled stuff too would be amazing to see
Bigger ship battles with the turret control. Multiple roles on the ships etc. It might require something like instanced so the big battles happen in a special area thatās warped into and out of for performance
To add to this, more freighter base functions would be lovely on the Corvette
Stuff like a system scanner, full growing rooms, market terminal etc
I've been thinking of ways station building and ownership could be made into a worthwhile mechanic
So far I've thought of being able to populate an abandoned/ empty system and lead to POIs spawning etc
Deciding the economy, conflict level etc
And maybe applying system wide effects which could even lead to limited changes to some planets (nothing like full terraforming or anything)
Stuff like being able to corrupt a planet in the system
Built stations could even maybe have expanded interiors with their own interactable stuff in there but that would be a lot of work
too much and freighters would become useless
If corvettes could dock at freighters normally it would shift this a bit
Might have to make freighters bigger but thatās a problem probably. Cant imagine the scale can change easily
i mean just replace the existing entrance with that of a station elongate the exterior to match the new entrance and while at it maybe at bigger an customizable bridge modules or you could add a new corvette hangar at an entirely different part of the freighter that has a teleporter directly to the bridge i dont thing this would be to hard to implement
Would be neat as fuck if the corvette slotted directly into place so that an airlock or two could attach to ship walls and make it an extension of the freighter space
Please let me land Starships on my corvette without them phasing through it after i pilot the Corvette PLEASEš
I don't get why we can't paint tools and ships yet, we need more colors too
0G corridors would be neat
dedicated UI design and layout for PC user
or maybe like search bar for catalog menu and for storage to search items
radial menu layout for quick menu
and some small QOL update
for console maybe use TTS to type
I wanna see a type of weather control device because I love storms in nms especially for water bases with waves crashing against your structures so having a device that you build in your base that could alter the weather to your preferred weather would be awesome
i wonder if they could add drip-check channel so people could show off their travellers
It would be really cool to be able to place down food as an item
It'd be nice if there was a pass done to improve multiplayer since Voyagers seems to be trying to encourage that with the Corvettes.
I'm not sure what this means, because the UI for NMS has always been PC-first in its design. To the detriment of console users. That terrible Destiny UI where we have to control a fake mouse cursor with the thumbstick has been a thorn in the side of usability on consoles since the game launched
the Voyagers Update advertises multicrew starships but i don't see it outside of the mission board i played the expedition with some friends to test what you can do together but you cant even build on another players corvette there's no network setting to allow other players to build in it or fly it as far as i tested you can only interact with other players landing bay buttons, mission board and plants as cool as those corvettes are from a single player perspective they are lacking in the multiplayer aspect
Yeah this is why I'm hoping more work being put in that area.
expedition 20 should be a 400 day pause on content where the devs fix all core bugs and performance issues
i can already see the star citizen backers imploding from such an announcement
Star citizen is the best money laundering scheme besides hawk tuah
But yeah the bugs are hilariously bad
At least restarting the game clears the worst clipping ones
i hope for the next major update to be something where planets are fleshed out with the different races. like pirate controlled outposts. maybe some cities ones you cant be a mayor for but could work there. that kind of thing
Make it another vile brood themed expedition, to stay on the bug smashing theme.
I really want a Pathfinder 2.0 update that overhauls the Exocraft completely. Right now most exocraft are pretty useless aside from the exomech. In my perfect world, it would come with and expedition that rewards us a new deployable tech (like the exo-skiff for fishing) that deploys a ridable hoverboard. Inspired by the rocket surfboard from treasure planet, it would play a lot like a k-drive from warframe. You could boost to catch air off hills and do tricks. It would have no inventory and no mining tech. It would just be for transport.
It literally came to me in a dream. I was playing No Man's Sky and surfing around on this thing. https://youtu.be/1ainH4-EuwU
Ah man, I wanna Solar Surf so bad!
To experience Jim's Swag better, Watch in full HD! (;
NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED. THIS VIDEO IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY! ALL CONTENT BELONGS TO ITS RIGHTFUL OWNERS! THE CHARACTERS AND VIDEO BELONGS TO DISNEY & ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON!
oh yeah i remeber Ark survival evolved add one of those with genesis part 2 was a blast to ride the thing i think no mans sky could use and exo solarsail surfboard
The only way is to fabricate starships at the moment but yeah repainting them would be cool
would a trade update be absurd?
i think items that are only used for ātradeā are kinda dumb. they are useless aside from the fact that they give you WAY too many units, and they are way too easy to find.
i think (this may sound crazy) all of the expensive items should get their prices nerfed to the ground when selling them, but remain the same when buying them.
itās just too easy to get units imo
if this is dumb lmk i want feedback
How do you want units to be earned if you can't earn them through selling stuff? And if you say, well, still by selling stuff, just earn less- How long should it take to earn x amount? In a game where you may be incentivized to earn hundreds of millions for stuff like buying an S class freighter, or expensive ships- do you really want to have to grind weeks for that? Some players don't even want to play this game for weeks at a time (see the 2 week minecraft phase), much less invest that much time for a single ship
iām talking about ātradeā items, the ones used for nothing but selling.
they are unnecessarily expensive and too easily obtainable, and they should be at least 1/3 of the price they currently are.
as for making units, there are plenty of other ways to get them that are actually fun (and somewhat easy) rather than just stumbling upon a 2 and a half million dollar book.
Thoughts about gliding?
yeah im in for a player store , just set a min price on everything
so is not game breaking
it would also be cool hunting missions, picking up cool anymal that the community found and adding hunting quests for those
There was also a placeable furniture in modded minecraft (aka industrial craft 2) that was called a trade-o-mat. The player was able to offer some item for something else and it had a internal inventory to be a buffer
that would be also amazing in nms as would introduce player owned stores
Corvette large open rooms so we can make space yachts
there's so many exploits and easy ways to grind billions of units in a short time that trade items are like at the bottom of the list of why the economic system is completely screwed in this game
but ultimately I kinda think HG don't care that much? or they gave up trying, and see the game as just a sandbox now
i mean thatās what i want fixed š
the economy is so bad
Trade items are intentional design, exploits aren't.
HG have some responsibility to make sure the intended ways of making money actually work as intended, IMO
completely agree. duping glitches, unit exploits, and nanite duping need to be fixed
genuinely makes me sad knowing that my hard work can be outclassed by exploits in five minutes
You can just change the difficulty settings to make things free, patching exploits is pointless
sure but you can also go into the Settings and just turn off purchases and crafting costs. comparing your own journey in the game to others is a road to unhappiness
thatās just a terrible mindset
The problem is that playing the game and engaging with the systems 'as intended' (by not exploiting) you still don't have much depth to money making because most methods are pointless compared to a few unbalanced mechanics
a terrible mindset to not compare yourself to others? it's their choice whether to use exploits, or to not have crafting costs. it doesn't lessen your own achievements at all
no not that
you shouldnāt ignore bugs just because an āeasy modeā exists
therefore making EVERY MODE easy mode
not that fun
My biggest problem is... what other ways did you have in mind? The only "fun" way to earn units that I can think of is repairing sentinel ships and scrapping them, but that loses it's fun after like, 1-2 hours
I'd rather have the trading items mechanics that encourages me to explore new systems. I buy everything from one system and sell it at the next if it's profitable
And the book worth millions? Encourages me to travel across planets to get it
instead of claiming base or settlement, i think claim entire systems would be good end game, like first is base then settlement, own entire planet, then claim entire systems, or multiple system make our own empire, expand as much as we can, own multiple fleets
you control the buttons you press. You have to go out of your way to dupe nanites.
Therefore making me have to go grab materials and items wen im in creative snd not giving me a "give item" command, is not fun
I wouldn't say they ignore exploits, they've fixed quite a few in the past. but it's a game of whack a mole and they spend more time building features than fixing bugs tbh
i mean i canāt argue with that
i love the new updates
Except for the most recent where we now slam into invisible things in space and spin out like crazy
Kind of annoying and jumscarey
yeah it is super disorienting
And needs to be purged. Like the gek
i love gek
After wut they did to my beloved TV head Korvax sweetums, they dont deserve to exist
Thats y my empire is on a conquest to eradicate the gek
We getting off topic in the channel lol
Anyways.
We need the ability to make large open rooms in corvettes
i hope they add steam workshop for easy modding
And wut about console players, we cant exactly access the games files and tamper around like pc players
They can add a way to reward players who use specific difficulty setting or not using any exploits in terms or achievements or through milestone reward system like the existing exploration milestones and survival milestones, they can add difficulty/challenge milestone so the players are rewarded for playing in specific difficulties even in case of custom difficulties the milestone are added based on individually selected difficulty
like a permanent expedition?
i mean, i would love quest locked tech
like the freighter black hole drive
A number of exploits are really hard to detect, let alone patch out of the game.
For example: I can have a friend join my game, I can give them a bunch of valuable items, I can reload an earlier save so I still have those items in my inventory, then have the friend give me the items back effectively duplicating them.
Hello Games can't really do anything to fix this exploit because they would either need to A) remove save reloading, which is a necessary feature to prevent softlocks; B) add some sort of unique ID to each instance of an item to detect if an exact copy of something is already in a player's inventory when you try to transfer it to them (this gets wildly out of hand with stackable items and substances); or C) remove the ability for players to transfer items between each other, which would hamper the already limited multiplayer functionality we have.
I do really like the idea of there being some sort of rewards for players using non-custom modes. We already have some precedent for that, with the achievements and player titles that can only be unlocked on survival and permadeath mode (but those are admittedly very easy to get at this point).
Or they can move inventory management server-side. Which would be incredibly debilitating to the playability of the game, given ODS's reputation.
I cant wait for more corvette parts n stuff
what do you guys think would be fun?
i think like more doors and stuff, maybe doors between compartments
Literally every sandbox I have ever played has money being ridiculously plentiful by endgame. It's a side effect of a game both having various paths to one goal and nearly endless gameplay. At some point, you're just going to be rich.
I don't really see how this is that big of an issue since competitive multiplayer in NMS just isn't a thing.
its just natural for endgame to be easier
big VTOL engines like on the cover art ship š
would love to see more interior tilesets going forward too, maybe something like the derelict freighter interiors
i want to be able to drive my exocraft into my ship
even modular exocraft in the same vein as the corvettes would be nice. Obviously them getting enourmous would be problematic probably but having a mobile planetary base sounds interesting.
We need the ability to save our corvette designs as blueprint, by selecting it in build menu, see a preview and the option to auto build if all parts are available.
I feel we might get an update with big parts like this. With the bridge, and some bigger rooms and engines!
we need that cockpit too
Now we got buildable ships, how about extending the buildable exoskeleton/minator with more parts next?
I hope in the future npcs will be able to pilot corvettes and that we will be able to board and dock onto enemy and friendly ships like in starfield. I think that would be a lot of fun
I want a sprint function for the minotaur. It's so strange that it's main method of transport is to not use its legs. It should lean forward, engage the jetpack and use that extra power to sprint forward.
Also, let the minotaur punch things
There are some fairly significant issues with disappearing items (solo/multi) and enemy/item/visuals sync in multiplayer - I'm curious if there's been comment from Sean or anyone HG side about that?
i genuinely think that base building in this game is some of the most clunky and icky feeling base building out there
the pieces just do not want to work with you
and it sucks cus u can make some cool asf stuff
but im trying to make a simple little cabin and things just arent working together in the way that i want them to
and everytime i hit Z to pick a different part im kicked out of building wtf š
Hotas/flight yoke support would be cool
Suprised we donāt have it yet honestly I thought I saw people playing with huge setups that like would rotate them around n stuff.
Sean Iāll Guinea pig for you I need flight yoke for the corvettes. Itād be the last bit of immersion and itās not like the system isnāt āimplementedā with how vr can fly
Absolutely
I hope for the next major update we do some combat updates. I want the roles and Guilds we associate with to be more significant. Imagine massive Freighter and Fleet battles on some Star Wars timing with your own ships. A crazy war letās change history in game. Making our own Guilds with goals we can make. I know we got bases and settlements but wide scale colonization would be nice
Personally, I would like to see the shuttle, and sentinels added to the ship building aspect of the game. Maybe add gene splicing to construct your own living ship. Maybe overhaul that little blue sentinel that you get from the questline to actually serve a purpose and stop crashing the game anytime I exit a exocraft with it.
They need to revamp the galaxy map IMO. I think it may be just too much work, though. At least redo the top left "minimap" so we can see our spot in the whole galaxy a lot more precisely.
I would like more filter options for galaxy map. And option to limit visible systems to only 1 region u are curently in
I'd like multi-filtering options. Like, what if I only want a blue star, high economy, low conflict, Korvax system?
May have been suggested but a lot of building games I play have the option to upload creations whether through steam workshop or an in game system, the ability to upload corvette designs and earn a portion of the corvettes earnings from a āspace shopā would be cool maybe have a corvette of the week based on community votes but idk just an idea
really hoping we get half and quarter-step offsets for corvette parts. it really feels like a lot of them were made with such in mind but it got lost in translation, like the albatross structural parts, or how the fuel pod seems like it would line up with the medusa reactor's curvature
i also hope we get more corvette weapon buildables for the weapons that don't have them (mostly the infraknife)
yeah amazing mod already the "e3 alaxy mod" , the y could copy that
I now think that if corvettes can let you parachute from the orbit and then teleport back to ship, we shoud be able to do same with freighters
In future update I suggest Buildable custom Gundams with installable starship weapon tech and I want to do battle other ships and freighters using the Gundam suit in space and on planets
or maybe a new starship model, maybe from sentinels that can transform to mech, like vikings from starcraft
with a more detailed view of the whole galaxy they could actually add in proper visible galaxy regions, imagine a galaxy map which could show where players are/player density
Dude, a player density indicator in galaxies would actually be so cool
or, probably more easily integrated with the current discovery services, ways to see where player bases are from the galactic map
i mean imagine if players/groups could claim regions the same way you can discover/rename systems and planets
throughout all the galaxies there'd still be like millions of regions to claim too
like let's get an actual working clan system in this game
The UI seriously needs a overhaul from galaxy/planet maps to inventory and discovery records.
They need to add a local map of planets like starfield with poi markers populated.
Having started a new save so I can be a scrappy little salvage crew with the new corvettes, I still wish there was some way to unlock purple systems from the get go for peeps who just want to enjoy the sandbox. Even if its locked behind having run the questline once to unlock the option account wide.
give us larger corvette modules, for both habs and other stuff
would love to have a reason to build/use exocraft/bases and explore on land more - how about a new survival mode where the ship needs more resources to repair (or build from scratch) . you HAVE to build a base with various tech/modules and can only use exocraft to mine certain elements to achieve this - basically a much longer starting tutorial/mode - exocraft can't be summoned but you must set out from your base each time - setting up other bases etc
ooh I wonder how feasible it would be to bring the corvette tech to some sort've land vehicle actually.
I think just in general the tutorial needs a refresh, its dated compared to everything the game has to offer and overlooks some new fundamental features like adjacency bonuses and supercharged slots, let alone all the neat things added since.
I think its good that the tutorial doesn't show everything and leaves a lot to be discovered, but it focuses heavily on base building for a time as if its necessary for the NMS experience when its actually about as important as most other features it doesn't elaborate on.
It would be better if the NMS tutorial just focused on the absolute bare essentials of how to play (which it does to start but then segues into a whole base building side quest.)
Its not that important but it would be rly cool if they updated the hyperdrive animation to something a bit more smoother and cooler like like the loading screen that u get in jed survivor when traveling between planets
Tutorial definitely needs some work. This was a big barrier for me going back to launch until just recently. It doesnāt help you figure out what your goals are and how to achieve them. Itās great the game is so open, but being stuck barely able to move, constantly running out of launch fuel with no clear info on how to make it easier is just friction that deters new players.
Need landing pads for corvettes. At least make those blue docking things placeable in bases.
Yus I have run so many peeps through the tutorial and most of them end one of two ways: Either they get fatigued before even finishing and don't get to what makes NMS great, or they finish inspite of the tutorial and admit it almost made them quit :p
I even had a big row with someone recently who got back into the game who insisted I was wrong about many things, and it soon became clear that he simply had never learnt anything outside of the tutorial. He got angry that I got a roamer bay early saying i couldn't possibly have without running the questline (i bought it at the anomaly.) He argued that the starting planet was a bad start (i had explained the game picks a pretty basic hazardous planet from a particular set of biomes, but other than that there really isn't a 'good' or 'bad' start other than the RNG of what POIs are near you.) and he said it had continuous storms despite me saying that the storms during the tutorial are all scripted to happen at particular moments which he said wasn't true.
Oh and he said asteroids were objectively the best money making method in the game >.>
ah yes, i love selling my tritium (i need it for frigate fuel)
The worst part of the tutorial has gotta be the base building section. It's awesome when you have to build a wooden shack and happen to be on a planet without carbon lol
I think outside of the tutorial and creative mode, I've probably built like six bases in total
This is why i almost feel the base building part should be separated into a contextual tutorial. And this coming from someone who loves base building.
This is where he and his partner gave up actually. He also wouldn't let me take them to a sentinel pillar to deal with the aggressive sentinels that kept hounding them on the planet they chose because 'dealing with the sentinels is part of the game.' You know what else is part of the game? Sentinel Pillars. š
it was during this that i discovered that the sentinel wanted system is like the plague. If you are near another player, you inherit their wanted rating. So we just kept each other at sentinel level 3 for an hour.
Once I was playing with a group of friends, another friend bought the game and joined us while we were in the middle of trying to get the sentinel mothership to spawn. Poor guy was trying to do the tutorial while multiple walkers were spawning in at a time lol
Yiiikes. Walkers are no joke when you just started and aren't properly equipped.
Sounds a player who just doesn't have the proper headspace for sandboxes.
I think you are right actually.
I wonder if they will make it so things like the sentinel capital ship do spawn on everyone's screen at once. This is why I think some of the coop focused elements of the corvettes have been held back.
I made a list of suggestions/features I'd like to see, is this the place to dump that? ^^
capital ships:
- automatic flashlight set to "off" on capital ships
- option to change, or just removal of, fleet mission + plant loot on capital ship going to the capital ship inventory by default
exploration:
- ability to filter solar systems by "gas giant/dissonant/water" etc when looking at the galaxy map
- ability to filter discovered systems by "gas giant/dissonant/water" etc
- list trade stations on solar system discovery screen (so I can find where to teleport to if I'm looking for a planet in that system)
- if im standing on uneven terrain, sometimes I can not use my multitool at ALL. it keeps getting put away. stop that.
- sprinting on uneven terrain will sometimes cancel sprint. stop that.
- rare underground fauna are absolutely miserable to track down. caves can be difficult to find and half of them that hit the "sea floor" dont even spawn underground animals. they spawn surface or underwater creatures and plants.
base building:
- diagonal building pieces
- more glass building pieces
- for the love of god do something about the building "snap" system, its so frustrating
- palworld building Alt key function. i dont know how to describe it. if you want to place a staircase, but it's snapping below a floor, you can press alt to keep the same direction/position but snapping above the floor instead
- option to hide supply pipes similar to electrical wire cloaking
- building view toggle to see all pipes/wires (even underground/in structures)
- metal grating flooring and wall frames/ceiling/etc
- several building pieces of the same sets do not have matching color schemes or ability to change color at all
- item to prevent hazardous flora from spawning?
- "pipeline capacity reached" when its only 1 extractor and 1 storage. i think it might be from old pipes intersecting? but i cant see them to delete them.
settlements:
- when in "settlement management", add a menu to see a list of all buildings + their rank.
starship:
- storage for starship parts (similar to corvette storage)
- when summoning your starship, have it facing the same direction as the player. similar to exocraft and corvettes
multitool:
- ability to remove mining laser on multitool (I know its probably a failsafe or something, but I have a combat dedicated multitool and its annoying when i accidentally switch to the laser)
- if using a multitool with a unique mining device, you should not be able to install a regular mining laser. or at least add the ability to remove the latter
misc:
- option to disable prompts/tips not related to a mission (i dont want to hatch the egg in my storage. PLEASE stop prompting me to)
- inventory button for "deposit to nearby storage"
- option for the nutrient processor to only see items in inventory
- buyback option for trade terminals
i love the game and dont want that big list to seem like "u need to do this or i hate u" ^^ just thoughts I had while playing
- Tsunami
- Fishing in the ocean and lakes, with NPCs and some ocean mysteries like ghost ships
- Players can collect unique fish in aquariums
- Add more activities for NPCs or real players on the planet
- Fishing while siting on chairs
me and da bois recreatin that 1 interstellar moment on the water planet with the tsunami and our corvette:
A polishing update in which the devs will finally provide more consistency to the added content, finally intertwine it with each other, fix all the bugs, bring more randomness (like more variations of the abandoned buildings for example), polish the story, maybe add some small changes like QOL and maybe finally make the past expeditions freely available which will add more things to do and some replayability to the game.
konte1m outš„š„š„š„
just came here to say this
Shuttles have a lot of potential and a very unique look
I think you'd see a lot more of them if people could customize their layout
Option to manually open/close corvette ramps from the pilot seat. It's kinda silly that while piloting a ship, I have to get out of the seat to open or close the hatch.
We also need a way to move ships vertically without landing.
Thsts why i fly with open all the time
Am I the only one who thinks they should add more races and cityās or civilizations and they could be in a different age depending on the planet age or economy
we really need a display hanger for all our special ships on ground bases. And have a description of the ship on a plaque. Essentially, when you store the ship in mothballs, they end up at your base of choice on display like a museum
@Sean Murray, are you reading this thread?
it would be cool to have the old traveller outfits return as player customization options, and have an option to fully customize the traveller race heads with a bunch of different attachments/face features
yeah the old Travellers had a lot more drip
The old Gek models had great drip too
while we're at it, it would be cool to get the Null and Apollo body customization parts since we already have their heads
maybe have them unlock after you've finished the main story
They should let you build the signal booster in or on the corvette or as part of the corvette interior walls
The refiner corvette glitch(for the wall mount one) still persists on resummoning the ship or summoning a different one, flying away and summoning the corvette again.
It's specifically sad for me because I assumed it was completely fixed and lost several stacks of resources.
a huge qol update would be AMAZING, with a lot of small additions, bug fixes, and obviously quality of life balancing
Our own anomaly or large station that can support dozens of docked ships and corvette and also can dock freighter etc
i also would love this, imagine huge wars that could bring a solar system from pirate control back to a 1-3 star economy.
or the other way around, you could make a 1 star system turn to a pirate one and cripple it, controlling its trade
you could have your freighters, frigates, and huge fleets of npcs battle with you, or just players
With corvettes now being in the game, imo starships and freighters seem less useful than they once did. A corvette can go anywhere a starship can go while also having huge amounts of storage and production capabilities like a freighter. it's essentially the best of both worlds, a true mobile base, with no real downsides. I understand finding parts and building a corvette is optional and takes time but the parts themselves are worth millions of units and are very common. As a result the value of units has gone down.
Personally i think the corvette parts should not be able to be sold for units directly. Instead they should be turned into less valuable scrap like when you scrap a starship (worth maybe around 10-100K units depending on the part). Scrapping certain parts could also reward upgrades for your starship (e.g. scrapping a corvette engine could reward a pulse engine upgrade). The basic parts (the ones you can currently buy with units) should scrap for a quarter of their cost since you can find them almost anywhere. The parts you can trade for should be naturally found only on derelict or crashed freighters.
Yeah I hope they add a reason too keep using the old starships, although I have to admit I much prefer my corvette now, they are definitely more fun to use
has there ever been any talk from the devs about adding an increased fov cap to the first person camera? and in addition maybe a first person player character model that you can see if you look down? ever since the corvettes came out ive been having fun with the first person while walking around in my ship. but the first person is still just kinda lackluster imo. (also i play 3rd person pretty much all the time anyways but itd be cool to have a reason to want to use 1st person more.)
Wish there were fractured planets,
Like the gravuty is weird in some areas, no atomsphere.
And with a hole or crack that you fly your ship through
With them bringing more of. Spotlight on the Multiplayer aspect of the game, I'd love to see more Roll play elements, interactive environments, such as furniture upon you ship, I know we have some seats you can sit on, but actually being able to lay in the beds would be cool, and maybe mini games like holographic chess? Maybe teaming up with other players and creating actual fleets? I'd love to have a full on pirate crew.
I'm definitely going to keep using my Classic ship for visiting outlaw stations, it's kinda annoying having to walk half a mile for a handful of black market goods, since they don't have warp pads. Lol
Definitely keeping the normal ships but idk how much use theyāll get
in the future if we have proximity voice chat, that would be... idk, amazing
i'm surprised we dont have this, but we should have a corvette piece for a ladder or elevator that can take us to the "roof" of the corvette
the millennium falcon which is half of the artistic inspiration for this update has one lol
You can take the stairs to the roof, can't you?
which I know isn't the same but
you can but it doesnt look right
We need corvette nose-cone pieces PLEASE
I've seen people pull it off with snap system tricks but I haven't been able to do it myself just yet
(And I would prefer to just be able to do it normally)
We need more cockpits too
haulers are gonne lmao
there NEEDS to be more dangerous wildlife. i want ocean monsters and giant dinosaurs, or worms that can swollow you whole.
i wish that there were more dangers than just weather and pirates, and maybe 1 or 2 other small things.
ye there are ones that attack you but i aināt been hurt by an animal in months
plus they arenāt sea monsters material
Thereās abyssal horrors and the alluring specimen
just be so honest it aināt cutting it on the hostile creature front
i get that there are some things just not enough
Fair enough.
no matter how cool corvettes are or for how long the community wanted them in their current state they completely break the game and make entire gameplay loops optional/obsolete on a new save on normal difficulty it took me exactly 38 minutes the get a functioning corvette with all 10 storage modules and a mission board without even unlocking the terrain manipulator i repaired my stater ship collected enough di-hydrogen for about 10 launch fuels scanned for a planet with scraps within my starting system landed marked the scraps shot them from the ship rinse and repeat made about 30kk selling all parts i did need and bought resources for the storage module and missing corvette parts and build the corvette no need for exocraft bases or a freighter from that point
in my opinion the problem isnt how fast you can get a corvette but that even the most basic corvette is already completely game breaking
-no need for unlockable technology
-no need for launch fuel
-no need to even set foot on a planet
-i dont know if its a bug with the zenith-reactor but corvettes seem to dont need any hyperdrive fuel at all
here are a few suggestions
- lock the ability to hover in atmosphere behind unlockable technology (forces early corvettes to land more often)
- lock the teleport back to ship behind unlockable interior modules the placeable teleporter is of no use right now so give it a use (forces players to call down their corvettes more often)
- make all interior modules besides the mission board unlockable instead of unlocked from the start
4.limit the amount of interior modules you can place in a corvette you cans still unlock all 10 but you can only place any 4 or so of them
5.give all bases types a unique purpose that make them stand out from each other and give players reason to build them besides the fun of it
6.improve exocraft and make them more useful and/or give them some customizability with technology like the exo mech
7.what Vega-Zero said about modules sell prices you already have a chance to find treasure in scrap thats valuable enough or antoher take
instead of whole modules you find blueprints that have to be translated by their respected faction for a small price in nanites after that you can build them with resources and components
Gek would translate thunderbird blueprints
Vy'keen would translate titan blueprints
Korvax would translate ambassador blueprints
atlas stations would translate all other blueprints
untranslated modules dont reveal their contents like suspicions upgrade modules once translated you always unlock a new module
a part that would sell for 1.000.000 unites would cost 1.000 nanites to translate
so this should address most balancing issues with corvettes
yes it needs nerf so bad
not even nerf just balancing
not gonna lie Voyagers feels a little bit rushed could have stayed in the oven 1-2 month longer
i think there was enough content, thereās just not great balancing and way too many bugs
I'd like to see player communities become bigger and encouraged to join one in the game. We could specialize in different aspects of the game to accomplish different tasks. Maybe your faction is trying to terraform planets. You have some players making Dyson spheres, others manipulating the atmosphere, and others bioengineering new life forms.
I also feel like there's no forests
The game doesnt rly support large projects like that with multi-player
Because of the base size upload limit
But yeah, anything for multi-player and community building would be great
I can agree with some of this, but the unlockable technology thing does have its flaws
That being we need more tech slots for corvettes.
The performance parts already take up a lot of my slots. (I also hate how they move around whenever I make an edit but that's a different conversation)
I'm also not a huge fan of limiting creativity with what we can do with our corvettes
i agree the limited slot thing slipped my mind but i got a solution to the performance part issue they essentially work like upgrades so instead of each module type creating up to 3 tech item per type having multiple of the same generates one tech item but increased in rank for example each module generates a C-class tech item different types of the same category still generate up to 3 tech items but multiple of the same type only generate one item but each increases the rank by 1 per module up to S-class
Can we get a extended pet storage. Even if it acts like the storage systems or through a "caretaker" in the anomaly that houses all your pets
So people have have them in "storage" but have a option for more than 4 till youre nanite rich and even then its capped at like 20. With the endless random generation in this game more slots are desperately needed
PLEASE. I am SO tired of SACRIFICING MY BABIES every time there's an expedition
(Also how dare they use the word 'abandon')
Anyone remember what day of asking HG for ADS with Combat Scope Tech Iām on, I forgot
DAY 45 OF ASKING HG TO LET ME ADS WITH COMBAT SCOPE TECH
I think the fantasy has now shifted from planet hopping with a freighter for storage to living in your ship.
I really like the mission board in the corvette, I've completed so many more missions that I never used to look at twice.
What I'm trying to say is the release of corvette completely changes the game since when you add worlds 1 + 2, voyagers, orbital, beacons and relics together, we basically have nms 2, hello games defo know this and I think the next few updates will be around balancing/changing the core gameplay to fit around corvettes
As a new player to the game, it was cheaper for me to buy corvette parts than buying a new ship worth the same amount of slots
But i like corvettes. I dont like having a frieghter because ots too big and starships is waybtoo limiting
Can we get an update for capctured pirage freighters guns to be facing the other way?\
main guns can be facing forward and others depending on which side left or right
where is the suggestion thread
ok made the suggestion
Would love space POIs we can spacewalk out to
Stuff like derelict corvettes, inhabited space outposts etc
That would take so long lol
tbh they could kinda mash the corvette/freighter concepts together and let our mission control board also have us manage the frigate missions.
bc rn all a freighter really provides is that interface
For now Freighters also provide Planetary scans and easy access to storage, as well as a Portal, so until Corvettes have those functionalities, Freighters remain useful
I'd like to see the freighters have more traversable space than just the ship hangar and captains deck/your base.
Just for cosmetic purposes
Would also be cool to see corvettes with manable guns. Empire strikes back style for coop play
I agree it would be great for us to manually drive the freighter. But I would love to see the frigates be fleshed out a bit more. Having to option to take command of them for their missions would be amazing
At the very least it'd be cool if the frigates had a command deck with npcs and a captain you can interact with rather than just seeming totally derelict
I often stare at my amazing fleet of frigates thinking to myself.....at least they look cool floating in formation....I guess
Wonder if they'll ever do something with towns and cities
Or bigger space stations
I feel like they need to develop that kinda thing for light no fire because that fantasy rather than Sci-Fi
There's a pretty good chance they already have that tech in Light No Fire and the reason we don't have it here is because No Man's Sky is already pushing it on last gen consoles
its probably been said before but we really need on-planet corvette landing pads
lmaoo
they'll probably add those soon
well yeah
they are taking tech from LNF and adding it to NMS bc they know the game still has immense support
yeah and i realized that the expedition is the best way to get started in no man's sky, since you'll get free ship parts.
Now that space walking is a feature, I wonder if we'll get space bases soon?
Something as simple as just deploying an equivalent to the base computer and then being able to use space versions of the parts, like how underwater bases work
Anyone know what this is? (Experimental branch)
Sorry if its hard to tell the size from the pictures, it's half a module in every dimension
Just an alternate little cap piece
Yeah I think it perfectly bridges two sizes of curve part
ooh
Exocraft dock for corvettes, sky diving in a Minotaur would be gnarly
Agreed
i wish sentinels were actually a force you'd be afraid of, especially the space ones, alongside with making the black market business more profitable it would make the black market stuff be more "black market"
like imagine having a nipnip farm on your corvette, getting into a traffic stop with a sentinel and actually using the emergency warp tech for the first time in history
also, when hello games just added the black market stuff i thought the sentinels would also check you for the illegal tech, kinda a missed opportunity
!hg
Submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
does that mean that the suggestion is good or
100%
They do theyāll initiate scans, I got caught with nipnip buds and the feds tried to get me
yeah but it's really easy to get away, literally just fly in some direction and you're free as a bird in 15 secs
sentinels were supposed to be the guardians of the Atlas, the power that had turned prolly millions of worlds into wastelands
and you're able to get away from them bastards on a slowass hauler
I wish we had a nameplate decal for corvettes. Probably impossible to control how many would be named for anatomy and such, but still...
highkey I'd like some truly aggressive sentinel planets try to even shoot my ship down from the ground if they don't like interlopers stealing neutrinos
You know, there've been a lot of people in the history of NMS to suggest cities
and honestly I know the reason why we'll never get them
lore wise, the sentinels would never allow it, and from a technical standpoint it'd be a headache making a procgen city that actually makes sense
But I almost think HG should try anyway
The vykeen and gek still have their homeworlds iirc, at least add those
Big planet-cities you can find out in the world, that's probably a no
But I wouldn't be opposed to a handful of cities that are part handcrafted part procgen, that stand out as true civilization in an ocean of unexplored planets and stuff
even if they're just a few homeworlds
Ya just kinda a wish list.
itās fine if the cities contradict lore
we just need them
would be great
LOL no not like that
Hello Games could make some loophole to make a few of them okay
the lore only restricts them as much as they allow
and i'm not saying to totally disregard it because that's how you easily cheapen a game's story
but it's not something they can't work around either
I think they should allow like player based factions where players can fund there factions by taxing their settlements a little and increasing their factions capital (factions treasure) making it were the faction can have its own space station as itās hq as well as its own personal fleet. I also think this would make it more interesting and competitive as it would lead to territories being carved out and managed, if they allowed this. I see players who want to grow their systems creating a prosperous economy and warmongering players allying to have massive space battles/events with these prosperous factions
Different but can also be used for the same purpose. I think the squadron limit should be raised so that players can have multiple different squadrons with chosen squadrons leaders. These squadrons can be used for help with combat, mining, and exploration (if needed). I would also suggest adding the addition of ground troops/companions. I really wish I could explore, mine, harvest, build, and fight with a companion of 2 or more by my side. It would be a cool experience to build a army of ground troops for potential future events that would involve massive planetary invasions
Maybe this will all be realized with the upcoming integration of ai
upcoming integration of AI?
i think they should add a corvette landing pad
I can see that being a bit tough since corvettes can get arbitrarily large.
Or nevermind, if the corvette landing pads at stations are enough for all possible corvette sizes.
That would be cool , except that NMS isn't that type of game. Massive-scale warfare events are just not cohesive with the sandbox-casual feel of the game. NMS is first and foremost a sandbox, not PvP or RPG or any of these things. I think other games would do these things way better than they ever could be done in NMS.
As opposed to cities. Something more lore friendly could be expanded space station interiors, maybe like a market floor or something
Bit more npc density to make it feel more alive
Might require a re-design of the games economy though to give it more depth
Could do like an aerial parking one. Where there's a teleporter on the pad and you park above it
you should be able to name bodies of water
A run way
players yearn for the space HOA to change their rules
like wtf hello games
why does every space station follow the exact same seating plan for example
why does every vendor in every space station sit in the same place across all the galaxies
the similar design of every space station is understandable, but every vendor occupying the exact same place across the whole universe is just unbelievable
So this channel is for suggestions and stuff?
Can I post suggestions for the discord server as well or only the game? There are so many channels it's hard to filter through them
I'd class this as more a place for all our dreams and wishes, I'm sure hello games dont look at this lol
Discord suggestions go in #discord-server-feedback
One npc Megacity per system
That's all I'm asking
Even 1 per galaxy
1 per galaxy would be a waste of the feature
there'd be an extremely high chance of no player ever finding one
what would you do with a megacity
Forget about megacity when 2 archives in close proximity is enough to make engine sweat
also you should be able to name regions or hemispheres of planets
Yes. I'd also love to see a system where major landmarks on planets count as discoveries.
Like the tallest mountain or deepest part of the ocean on a given planet. They could be worth a lot to discover and you'd be able to of course upload and name them incase other players one day see them too
Colorization of Derelict Freighter Furnishing
It is actually bothering me a lot that you can place things from the Derelict Freighter Furnishing, have the option to recolour it... but no... you can't recolour them. Or lets say... the only thing that changes are the bolts... or tiny things you don't really care about.
I would like to place black Emergency Lights, have dark coloured Footlockers or Crew Lockers, have them in Red or black.
I would imagine LNF will have something like that. maybe they would port it over to NMS once it's implemented
being able to name mountains would be sick
When can we build and own businesses across the galaxies and in cities we need cities
^
Itās bc when the game originally launched there was pretty much nothing in terms of content. So cookie cutter was a way to expand rapidly
I would love a freighter that looks more like a carrier
I think that they should make carrier type ships wich are like corvet or jst add it to corvets wich is a room dedicated to dock ships so i can be flying in my corvet then js stop and deploy my star born runner out of the hangar and js come back and dock on the corvet again or smthg like that for exocraft
Let us put a landing pad or 2 on our Corvettes without mods or save file editing.
that would be nice
They need to divide planet area as regions first and generate specific terrain type in specific region. This way procedural region names based on terrain type given and changed by user later like other system names.
I'm not sure there is an existing region system does this.
But if they do it it can easily improve exploration variety like region based weather, region bound fauna, region bound pois, region specific natural poi, region specific boss fauna, etc
They'll never touch terrain generation. The best we can get is new planets with different terrain systems like in Worlds Part II and Origins but the existing universe as it is now will never have it's terrain altered, I'm afraid
why not?
People built bases on the terrain. Changing it would essentially wipe out everything built since 2018, which was when they allowed base building everywhere instead of just in small flattened areas, and also the last time they changed existing terrain generation
90% of the universe is still using that 2018 terrain generation and can't be changed
so what? it'd be worth it
I'd agree, if it's a significant enough change to warrant it. Hello Games clearly don't, since even with the WPII terrain which is a massive improvement in every way they still only limited it to purple systems.
Is it just me or HG really needs to pause on the updates (after corvettes are refined that is) and start working on updating the core engine to make under the hood improvements
Like someone mentioned, two colossal archives themselves crash the engine and I feel that isn't acceptable in 2025 with all the hardware improvements that we've gotten, even on 'lower-end' hardware which is definitely better than 2016
before thst we need more replsysbility and depth to the core gameplay
roles like beung trader pirate or explorer actuslly matter and be enjoyable not as shallow as it is now
Engine improvements could make it all possible I think it is that which is holding the team back
they could do it like story wise maybe a reset of simulation the whole universe and then change that lol but it would idk players wouldnt like it perhaps but i reay want the terrain generation changed everywhere
terrain is impossible as @shadow dagger mentioned earlier, player bases will be top priority
nowadays i only fly to purlle star systems other just dint feel worth visiting
but we can definitely have new ecumenopolis cities, lore can be changed via a quest or something that makes the sentinels passive or the race homeworlds have some sort of Iron Dome defense systems that prevent Sentinel attacks
something like this but my golly the engine has to be reworked from the ground up for that
basically biomes yesh thats reslly lacking right now but i think we will get that in worlds part 3 probably after the realese of Light no Fire as that game is focused on that more so snd then they will have the tech to backport it
Imagine the Vy'keen homeworld is like this, with the Temple of Hirk as a POI
yeah they could also make a diff star systems for thst like white systems with pretty nuch only city planets or terraformed planets without the sentinels reach but also i think if a civilizstions gsthered theybwould be able to create army and fleets to fend of sentinels and keep civilixations like thst even if sentinels attack
i doubt we would see cities before another terrain overhaul and adding biomes + fauna overhaul
procedurally generated cities would be extremely chalksnging and hard to make pribsbly would take years for HG to devrlop if they havent started already unless they just make few pre genwrated city worlds
like for each race
Corvettes were a highly requested feature and HG made it happen, maybe if enough players want it, they will do it
since at this point NMS is a passion project for HG; they want to see how far they can go
and cities are obviously the next big step imo especially after the lukewarm reception of Beacon (because I feel they did not go far enough, unlike Corvettes)
they worked for months or a year on them tho
they were in files since worlds part one or two
yesh i feel like beacon didnt change enough
space mcdonalds
wait terrain is different in purple systems??
thought they just added water worlds and gas giants ngl
The terrain generation is based more on what they are planning for LNF yush, so if you look at purple systems you get a lot less of the dull hills and a lot more variety to the terrain!
Whoever thought to put the mission control into corvettes was a genius
auto crafting and auto refining machine, something like that, with pipe or maybe conveyor belt to transfer items, but pipe is better because it already there, or for early factory we need manual labor that we can hire npc, just like we hire overseer, with that we can make our own factory, but you can only build one type of factory in one system depend on system economies, if its mining you can only build it for mining, you will build mining company, if the system is manufacturing, each economies have different machine, you can only build manufacturing company, This is end game feature, we can have multiple fleet of freighters or frigates that you can send to trade just like what we already have, at the end we just manage everything in your office depends on how advance and how valuable your company, hire mercenaries and defend your fleet, tier C, B, A, and S company is determined by the value of everything you have, its multibillion units stuff.
but i think, thats too much for an exploration game. i just think like satisfactory like stuff in nms
https://x.com/SatisfactoryAF/status/1959591246902550641 oh wait, i just found this, idk the meaning of that symbol, or just casual comment, or future collab?
pilotable sentinel walkers. similar to a minotaur but more focused on long distance attacks.
works like a minotaur but without some of the utility tools, instead you get beefier weapons. can be summoned at an exobay.
faster than a minotaur, however it doesn't have jump jets
also being bigger will make it more difficult to use
i mean im on board with cities but only if they really take their time to make it an complete update as much as i like the corvettes they broke the game i already made a list of issues a few days ago but today i found another area they broke you know how smuggling goods is supposed to be a somewhat challenging gameplay aspect you can completely circumvented it by putting what ever your smuggling in your storage space and thats the type of issues i dont wanna see if they decide to bring in cities
Ever since jumping back in for Corvettes, and re-engaging with the systems as they are now, Iāve had a few different reoccurring thoughts for features/changes Iād like to see updated/added in the future.
-
Full 3DOF parts in the corvette crafting menu. Too many parts are arbitrarily locked in limiting positions, and I really feel like opening that up will open up more creative opportunities for ship-builders. To that same point, upping the 100 part cap on corvettes is another big wishlist item. 100 is probably the number for a reason i.e. stability, bw compatibility for older consoles etc. but still - some sort of increase on that front would be amazing.
-
Exo-craft redux. Exo-craft have felt redundant at best for a while now, with a few exceptions (Minotaur, Nautilon, and I personally still love taking my Pilgrim out for joyrides on low-grav worlds) and are an area where integration with Corvettes and deeper customization as a whole would be such a power move. Being able to use a similar construction system to corvettes to build a bespoke Exo-craft, from a lumbering Sand-Crawler-alike to a mid-sized sub to explore waterworlds with a crew of friends, plus the ability to deploy from a personal corvette would all be next-level cool.
Seeing games like Daemon X Machina (esp the new one) and having played the newest Armored Core game makes me yearn for a fully customizable Exo-mech. Doesnāt have to go too far into the heavily anime-inspired aesthetics of either of those games, should in fact still be firmly within the visual wheelhouse of NMS (which itself references a ton of other IP without being derivative). There are so many opportunities for novel gameplay: being able to fully kit out a āmech and drop in from orbit (or just from a bay within your freighter/corvette) to the surface of a planet, use limited hover/flight capabilities to cover ground faster, but still integrate scanners and mining tools as well as weapons systems to battle sentinels etc.
Imagine fulfilling that true Gundam fantasy by engaging in ground combat with Walkers, then taking off to engage Sentinel Fighters in an aerial dogfight, all in the same vehicle that you purpose-built. š®āšØ
^^ the thought of the custom sentinel walker brings me to that
in pirate stations there are a buncha sentinel walkers
The same issue is with exocraft - ground breaking update but ultimately for naught .... HG has redeemed themselves, it is time for refinement first, then we can focus on getting new updates
They should let go of the launch day guilt
it has been nearly 10 years
while Minotaurs will remain a handy combined multitool exocraft, these mecha are combat focused
and so you won't have a terrain manipulator or mining laser options
instead you can have a phase beam
yeah i completely agree before any new update comes out they need to rebalance both corvettes and the rest of the game around them
the basic unit is a sentinel walker. no arms, no head, no flightpack, just the body and legs
it would be possible to mash up some starship tech for transformation as the walkers already can transform into a cube
I think that was the attempt with Beacon and they screwed it up
But one learns from mistakes.. no one knows this better than these guys so more refinement, more engine updates, better rendering... not every update needs to be flashy, small improvements step by step will go a long way towards ultimately creating the best universe out there with cities, transport networks, markets etc, a living, breathing universe
i'm surprised HG even used their own engine
in 2016, Unreal and Unity weren't at the level they are today
SCS Software (makers of ETS2 and ATS) also use their own engine called Prism and those games were released in 2012 and 2016 respectively
nowadays an indie studio using their own engine is a big achievement
Symmetry mode for corvettes
yeah Prism is another good case
tbh it's mainly smaller studios and the very largest who use their own engines
i already played most space games and look for newer ones all the time and tbh i thing No Man's Sky is the spear tip towards being the best space game other games might be more specialized Elite got better flight mechanics and more accurate star systems, satisfactory excels in base building and resource automation but no where else do you find a more complete package then in No Man's Sky
so it is even more imperative HG starts doing under the hood improvements as a prime facie focus
Yes indeed! But we can always do better
Bethesda is a studio with thousands of employees and billions in revenue, the fact that HG of 50 people is able to be toe to toe with them is a marvel and testament to their commitment
all we ask is focused refinement and upgrades so that we can eventually reach the goal of the 'living universe'
It would be cool to have a better first person experience. If you could aim and things and have scopes and all that on your multi tool, just adding some very basic FPS features, while still being TPS friendly. A slightly stylized view from the visor while in 1st person would be cool as well, with some extra hud information and such.
HG is allready at the finishline while Bethesda is going through loadscreen after loadscreen
yeahh it is just ridiculous that a small indie is able to provide such a seamless experience meanwhile ... sigh this is #nms-the-future I don't want to talk about THAT studio anymore
anyway, engine improvements is so sorely needed, especially after corvettes.. I want cities š„ŗ
massive respect for HG to not relay on cookie cutter engines like unreal or unity doing your own engine is always harder but in the end gives you ultimate freedom to do what ever you want
True but I have played a lot of indie games built in those engines which are awesome as well. Ultimately it is up to the game devs to make the right choice for their game
Although with the recent Unity scandal regarding pay-per-install, the trust is on thin ice
Building an own engine is definitely hard, I am doing that myself and golly it is 1000x more difficult than I thought it would be
But I think open source engines like Godot are a good start since they have the established framework + the freedom aspect you mentioned as well
Is it normal that not every turret on my corvette is firing?
yes its normal some sort of limitation there are some effect parts like the fan pieces and the turrets that have a limit on how many are animated but there's a mod that removes that limit
Adding another section to the settlement UI would be good for their building upgrades, like either a list to scroll down or if possible a settlement hologram to move around
Will Switch 2 owners be able to play the update 6.xx in the future and if yes, when?
Hot take: I think cities in NMS is an awful idea.
Okay you can't leave us hanging with that take š you gotta back it up
I mean from a practical standpoint they're not wrong. Cities would stress the engine beyond anything we have right now which says a lot, and although I'm not a programmer I'm sure they'd be incredibly complicated on the technical side of things, if the cities had any depth
And from a gameplay perspective you'd have to find ways to make them common enough to stumble across yet rare enough where they make sense. HG would also have to make them make sense narratively, too
BUT, if HG could get all of that right and working, it'd be an amazing update. Imagine landing your Corvette in a spaceport, being able to buy fuel, rations, materials etc, all while exploring the city
The engine is literally built to procedurally generate nature, which is in many ways the complete opposite of what would be required for a city planet.
It isn't capable of generating an infinite number of different buildings for one planet, or storing them in memory. The best case scenario would be that each planet would have like 20 unique buildings repeated everywhere across the entire surface
This.
If it was another studio, I wouldn't have bothered but this is Hello Games, the guys who resurrected a game on life support to what it is today. If I trust any team to pull it off, it's these guys and if they put their mind to it + player demand is sufficient, it's possible
We could start with small cities first see how it goes
Obviously we can't have Coruscant on day 1, that's enormous
I could see large civilian colony ships as a prototype to this
Something like the Axiom from WALL-E?
Yeah
You know, that could be fun to have as a capital ship upgrade
A section of it that's just a massive settlement
I'm sure it's possible to make a world full of unique buildings with a procedural system. The same kind of variations that drive terrain diversity could also drive building changes. Making them interesting, or even getting that to run with any kind of framerate in HG's engine, is another question entirely...
agreed. if hg can find a way to pull it off, it would be amazing
If not cities they could try first to make more pois on planets that are more varied and more interesting, or maybe ādungeon typeā buildings like in starfield
Cities would be good if they varied
I could see an ecumenopolis as something that works kinda like the Anomaly
a massive sorta hub for MP chilling
They can start by
Connecting two existing settlements. A lot of players now have 2 or more settlements. Allow the player to designate trade routes between them to sell in-demand goods according to the system economy. If nothing matches, they can sell to the trade terminal of the appropriate system
As the economy of the settlement grows, more housing is added. The overseer's office is upgraded into a bigger city hall. Roads are laid down connecting each of the buildings
After a certain amount of units has been reached, the overseer can invest the amount into building districts. Could be a military themed district for Vy'keen settlements with barracks, starship manufacturing facilities and training facilities, economic themed district for Gek with banks and trade schools, scientific themed district for Korvax settlements with research labs and chip factories.
Fun ideas I had for (functional) new Corvette Class ship interior modules:
Teleporter Module - Can be toggled on or off. When toggled on, players who have their own module installed in a room can use theirs to beam into your ship when they are close enough proximity for connection.
Comms Relay Module - You can use this module to send a communication signal to other players within the same star system who are in their ships. When responding to this signal, they will be prompted whether or not they want to team up for a corvette mission. If they accept, your corvette will be tagged for them. This would make it very simple to find players who want to engage in multiplayer missions.
Cartography Table - Similar to the freighter module, this module will scan planets in a system for you and provide information before discovery. However because this is a Corvette class module, this will also provide a small reward for the crew members on your ship. In addition, exploring star systems may occasionally lead to finding star jump maps that you can collect from the table. Using these maps will mark a path for you on the galaxy map which will lead to a salvage container. This particular salvage container will always contain a rare corvette ship piece that is otherwise unobtainable. This introduces a gameplay loop for discovering rare parts that may be introduced in the future.
Couple more ideas I played around with:
Tactical Scanner Module - Use this module to scan for nearby pirates before they detect you. Has a chance to detect pirates or do nothing and has a cooldown between scans. This gives you the option to be the ultimate bounty hunter and seek and destroy. Could also have the ability to trigger brand new rare corvette exclusive events such as finding abandoned "derelict" corvettes.
Maintenance Bay - Houses drones that will repair hull damage (only outside combat), essentially acts as if you landed at a space station and repairs critical damage. Does not repair damaged components
I would love to see some more sleek alien alien looking corvette parts in the future. Everything we got now just looks too human. Don't get me wrong though, Voyagers is easily the best update No Man's Sky has ever gotten. 9.9/10. Might just me being nit picky but I would love to see some covette parts that look like they are of alien design. My favorite frigate for instance, is the trade frigate.
A thought, but honestly summoning could be reworked to take more time
Could be a difficulty option, but depending on how far your ship is it should calculate roughly how long it takes to fly up there, spend that time before spawning in the ship and landing it
Also inner walls pls for corvettes
As for summoning it'd feel cooler if you see your ship approaching in the distance, watching out for it as it lands
not a good idea when you are being hunted by sentinels XDD
could be a toggle in settings
Ship summoning is a hard thing to balance
Make it too easy and you negate any danger on planets and players will never backtrack to where they landed.
Make it too hard and players will never walk that far away from their landing site when visiting planets and will always fly everywhere instead of walking or using exocraft
i'd expect no more than 45s between summoning and the ship arriving
45s is way too long for my taste
a toggle is the best option
Actually, I have an idea for a compromise with the whole city thing
I know space stations just got an update, but, what if HG were to add different variants (more than just cosmetic differences) to space stations. These new hypothetical stations could be like, an orbital shipyard for instance where you can see docked ships being worked on, and thus the interior would be different as would the trade goods
Other options could be vykeen military installations, gek trading posts, korvax... somethings; I haven't figured out what they'd have yet
As of yet the space stations' interiors look good and are very practical in their layout but you don't get the vibe of them being much more than what we the players see in-game. I've always assumed there'd be more rooms in the stations outside of the hangar w/ stalls we see
this could work especially corvettes are kinda shoe-horned into the landing runway for ships into the space stations
we can have a redesign where corvettes have their own entrance
Personally I'd like to see bigger stations with higher economy levels
Would add to the variety and also provide a nice reminder for the level of the system you're in
having space stations kinda be like floating cities with street vendors and small homes would be very nice
Pirate stations as well. They did not benefit from the station overhaul, would like more detailing like the launch runway being more rundown and held together by spit and duct tape
I could see this being done, and forgive me, Star Citizen style. A big city not accessible in many parts, much like a freighter. Better not to have it on all planets of a system... But, there could also be such thing as a new system type like a Civilized System type or something, or have a BIG city planet (probably not all covered in city like dystopian Coruscant, just like really big) much like gas giant that takes a whole system in some sort of galactic hotspot multiple players can come to and converge, like player made civilizations, I'm talking apartments, whole buildings, shipyards, etc.
I'd like to be able to own a station or make an official Suborbital base system. Don't wanna keep glitching...
Korvax temples to Atlas worshipping, something for them to come together, maybe like a church or a mosque
One of my favorite features in Elite dangerous, that makes space exploration lot more intresting and engaging for me, are various galactic landmarks. Be it Nebulae, star clusters or just the diffrent segments of the galaxy, the specific areas that are inhabited, and all the other areas that arent. Parts of the galaxy have noticeably lower star density, or have a higher density of specific types of stars. I think no mans sky could really benefit from something like this. Right now the galaxies feel extremly homogenous and basically everything that you could ever possibly find probably exists within a 10kly range of any part of space, making long distance travel basically pointless.
I could see a galactic hotstop be something cool but a mess to get out of in current game terms. They should add like jump systems you can jump to and go and jump to these places directly
yeah, im not really sure how big changes to overall worldgen change the game, but i magine it could break bunch of stuff
they could play it safe and just have stuff thats already generated stay the same
thats like the only way, actually, that i can think of
but even having like lets say a nebula landmark, or it could be literally anything, on the galaxy map have some kind of effect on the surrounding star systems. like tens of thousands could be generated for every galaxy ,so they wouldnt be too hard to find, and also would help prevent any potential traffic jams
while still having something thats worth travelining long distance for
like lets say a glitched nebula or something, makes all the star systems inside it and around it have a special effect where like maybe it causes new types of planets to generate or whatever
similliar to the purple stars, except it being a new star systems that get evenly sprinkled around the entire universe, theyre concentrated into these specific areas
Nebulas would be cool... I'm thinking more like super massive black holen
even though they're in the game, very technically. they aren't anything impressive
i wanna see a black hole and feel like i'm in interstellar
i mean it could be anything, like for example some kind of ancient megastructure that affects all the star system in like 500ly around it and makes all the animals and whatnot go insane where they all generate as super agressive predators
I'm hoping that now that we have spacewalking, maybe one of the next updates could allow us to place a base computer in space and build off that.
space bases would be awesome
itching for that
first think i did when i learned about spacewalking was to go check actual scales
tho they would also probably have to add the ability to space walk to regular ships too
feel like it would be annoying having to switch to a corvette, if you want to build a space station
i invite you all to check how big an asteroid is, seriously, they look miniscule when you're blastin em, but are massive, ESPECIALLY the deformable ones
need to try it in vr again, forgot the scale of this game
yeah I'm sure once they add something to actually do while spacewalking we'll get the option to hop out of normal ships too
new dungeons hopefully, the freighters get old fast
i'd feel like hopping out from normal ships would ruin the landing system
how many of you actually land your corvettes?
could limit to deep space only
i only do it when i'm in a hurry
like you cant jump out in atmosphere
the corvettes specifically can hover, regular ships cant
sentinel ships can i think
but lets not worry about that
thats what i was thinking but you dont get much to do in deep space to justify being able to hop out
You'd have to summon your normal ship anyway though
i think thats why they didnt add it
you can beam up to the corvette
true...
well, they would give you that ability once they add some kind of eva gameplay
it wouldnt make sense for regular ships to deploy teleporters like the corvettes do
like evangelion?
extra vehicular activity
new dugeons you can fly around in zero g
having the abandoned freighters NOT be conveniently not destroyed enough at to where you can still walk through them
better yet, wait until you realise you've never actually shot another intelligent being
well i think with those, its still zero g, youre just magnetically locked to the floor. random debris still floats around
dungeons with actual dudes in em
like with corvettes too i think
makes sense
that reactor can't generate that pull
heck people have done this with bases... why not HG??
This is great, we need this
No need for Coruscant right way, just city POIs would be awesome
thing is once you explore a small portion of a planet you have seen it all since it is the same biome
cities give an incentive to traverse the planet on an epic journey like a mini version of LNF
That's pretty much just exactly what a settlement is though, isn't it? Especially the Autophage ones.
Sure you have to become an overseer and upgrade one to see it at it's max potential size, but they are HG's answer to people asking for city POIs for years.
and honestly not much smaller than any 'city' base you can build as a player
Except settlements are incredibly rare to come across- I don't think I've ever just happened across one like I have with every other POI. I've always had to use a map to find one. And even if you did come across one, like you said, it's small and there's no interactions to be had unless you become the overseer.
pretty sure no settlement looks like this
Players are incredibly creative in what they have achieved with the parts we have, would be awesome if they could be taken to the next level
Bc engine limitations. If HG done that . Then u would not be able to build like that so its better to give more creativity and freedom to players.
sooo why not start working on engine upgrades?? good opportunity to squash some annoying bugs along the way as well
They already have reworked lighting and graphics so many times
woww I thought this debate was new... if it is so old then yeahh HG should consider it
else yeahh I am happy with visiting player civilizations.. but the potential is there, and I am sure it will be well received by players imo
outpost endgame
where you have to construct satisfactory style production lines to produce the materials to build and supply a city
I actually would love this
actually I wish we could have gotten this instead of corvettes lolll
nothing against them, I have a lot of fun building one, it is awesome but thing is
it has made both my freighter and my fleet of starships practically obsolete...
the only reason I pull out my fighters is when I am expecting to run into a pirate battle (3 hrs play, 5 jumps)
whereas your idea actually seems like a good addition in expanding on what Beacon started
We can hope they will
Blaze Javelin for starships
there are 2 main reasons most ppl say cities shouldnāt be added:
- āit would be too slow and laggyā
first off, how do you know?
second, amazing features shouldnāt be declined because they MIGHT be laggy. this is hello games we are talking about. they COULD pull it off.
2: āit doesnāt make sense lore-wiseā
similar to #1, cities shouldnāt be rejected because they dont make sense.
the lore can be added to. hg could make a quest line about the past of these large cities, such as how they maybe made a treaty with the sentinels, or fought back.
once again, the lore can be added onto. this is a video game.
so please, add cities. they would be so fun.
.
there are other reasons, but those are the two biggest ones
NEED graphics rework
if we're heading in the direction of other space sims then thats the next step imo.
a little bit more graphical realism
you, alone, can disable sentinels worldwide for a day or so. whos to say a specialized kill squad couldnt siege ALL the pillars on a planet
even more with the help of city cartographers, tech merchants, so on and so forth
exactly
hell even even bandits
but thats normal authorities for systems... lore wise sentinels are a step up
I'd like to see autopilot be expanded upon, maybe as an extra upgrade for starships like the economy scanner and similar things. As for its functionality, I'd like to be able to pick a point on any planet in the system OR tag a POI and have it automatically take off, fly me there, and land if it's able. Working even inside of an atmosphere. Of course this could be balanced by making the actual unlock and required components be expensive and late game. Something you can get by the end of the main questline.
I'd like movement to be tweaked a little bit, honestly
the way NMS plays feels really arcade-y, at least for me, I think that could be improved
Give the player some more weight with how it moves
Give us a crouch button too
Doesn't even need to do anything special, I just want to duck behind a rock when sentinels shoot at me tbh
Id like to see a major update that shows planets with ruins of ancient civilizations and a story to discover their fall at the hands of the sentinels
Maybe have randomly generated city scape ruins that have data logs sending you on a quest to retrieve ancient multi tools or maybe a cool ship
No lore that would justify sudden existance of corvettes or jar heads or cthulu head was added.
Cities would be laggy bc engine limitations and hardware. (Ps4 the biggest part of player base and switch). HG technicaly could pull if off but it would be a trade off. No terrain manipulaion no flora/fauna etc. Basicaly they would remove everything else on planet to save resources for city. Even then with low lod it would look bad. Buildings with low variety of asstes would repeat often.Imo cities is something HG saved for LNF
If they did that for LNF, they would easily back port it right?
And actually as a compromise, we could have new planets added to systems that contain cities so that existing ones are unaffected
it's not about whether existing systems will be affected or not
HG is capable of adding new structures to regular systems
Problems lie in the technical limitations of the engine and hardware
Also repeating number of assets is not necessarily a bad thing... It's about how they give the illusion of space. I think Genshin Impact does this pretty well : the cities are just 10-12 buildings but when you're inside, you feel like you're in an urban area.. If they could do that for a mobile game
Dont get me wrong, HG pulled a miracle with corvettes
But some hardware struggles with a singular instance of a bigger building type, the planetary archives
It was particularly bad before WP2 where game would take couple seconds to render it while players were flying over
Indeed, but it doesn't have to be that way right ... It's their own engine, they could spend time and resources to improve it, it's not like they're constrained by a third party like Unity or Unreal
So having multiple textured buildings with lots of entities / objects inside will be extremely taxing
and they did, they are still working on it, they made all wild things for corvettes possible
Instances could reduce the load, I've used that in Unreal for a NYC level project, would it be safe to assume that HG's engine has that too?
We're just worried were hitting the limits of what the game and specific hardware is capable of
No idea what that is, not a game developer
And while Im a modder and I'd like to see myself as fairly experienced one
We have no insight into the game's inner mechanisms, we just see the files for models, materials, textures, entities, etc and mess with those on a pretty much surface level
Instances basically allow the engine to render one entity as original and then link 'instances' of that entity back to the original, so it doesn't need to reload textures for every instance, all of them will refer to the original model. This is always recommended for things that repeat, in this case buildings.
I used it for designing Central Park trees in the aforementioned NYC project and it gives an FPS improvement of at least 30% vs using copy pasting the original model multiple times.
The disadvantage is that there will be little variety, whatever changes you make to the original will be reflected in all the instances.
Also it's just my opinion, please feel free to disagree :))
I don't think engine limitations should be an excuse anymore especially given what HG has pulled off. I'm confident that if they put their mind to it, they can do it.
It's just that the universe will feel so, so much more lively if we had cities and outposts. Settlements were a good step in that direction, they just need to keep up the momentum
Just the corvette update threw so many bugs out in the wild, I feel the engine is approaching capacity
So they have to upgrade it anyway at some point
It's seriously an useless undertaking for hello games. it's should be settlements they can improve upon. Make settlements more bustling with interactable npcs and having more functional buildings like a city/village from a jrpg game.
Make the settlements a poi type so that player can go there for quests and trade is a practical thing.
Making cites is not just making building assets. for a practical city there should be minimal interiors, npcs, functional buildings roads and traffic at this point it is going to be a separate game effort which will take years.
Theres a reason starfield can make cities similar to settlements scale even though they have instanced area maps.
Yeahh that as well can be a good compromise
Honestly I expected this to be the feature when Beacon was announced... Unfortunately it wasn't
Settlement areas are already reserved, you can't build bases nor do terrain manipulation anyways there, so perfect ground to get cities started
It's pretty ridiculous that after 9 years you still can't view exosuit stats or all other stats for that matter.
Why is there not a simple "view stats" button that lists all stats for your exosuit, ship, freighter and multitool?
What's the point of all the upgrades and number crunching if you can't view anything
I hope they'll make freighters that are under attack not call the sentinels because a single one of my shots hits their ship while i'm chasing pirates that can just phase through the freighter
oh my gosh this is so true
I just get so frustrated when this happens, I turn on the freighter and blow it up
and a lot of the pirate ships go get stuck in nooks and cranies
Maybe one day beds will have a "Lay down" interaction
(I literally had to get myself stuck in the wall to get that picture)
i want to see vykeen or other humanoid race can use multitools or gun and shoot us, we can shoot them, all i see is just drones and drones
combat update is rlly needed rn
the space and ground fighting is just super stale
Cites are never going to happen in this game. Nor should they ever happen. They would be a massive waste of time and resources.
They would be the same 2-3 cities, repeated infinitely, with the same shop or two, which likely sell nothing of use, and badly designed pregenerated interiors.
There would be about as much of a reason to visit a city as there is to visit an archive. As in barely any.
-
make some exclusive corvette parts available in cities
-
have ByteBeat soundtracks in city music shops
-
have corvette upgrades be sold in cities
-
Allow buying of food in cities
-
Link settlements to cities to have improved industrial output
I don't think it's meritorious to just flat out dismiss the idea. Cities add life to the universe, give an interesting PoI to planets. Players are of course free to ignore them but for people who like settlement gameplay like me, it would be great
In fact a good compromise would be allow settlements to grow as a city, since you already have terrain and space reserved
even settlement got so many attack from sentinels, what about city?
I still haven't had even one sentinel attack in months on my settlements. Besides you could install defensive systems as overseer.
And before we say lore doesn't allow it, lore did not talk about corvettes either, they just popped into existence now and we're okay with it right?
Settlements are the perfect example of why cities won't work. Personally I really like settlements. I've built up two big ones with their own personality and story behind them but I had to cheat the system to do it. Take the average NMS settlement. Make it bigger. Way bigger. Now you have a city. A bland, empty, enormous thing that NPCs walk around.
the lore is made like that for the game limitation
I understand very well, yeah settlement gameplay is bad right now, but isn't that all the more reason to improve it?? Beacon did not go far, they should have gone farther. It was a missed opportunity that they can correct.
18,000,000,000,000,000,000 planets and this game's limitation is drawn at cities??
Limits are made to be broken š
Honestly I think I went as far as they could go. This isn't a team that lacks imagination it just has an engine that can do only so much
i think something like space anomaly that we can call anywhere, if you watch treasure planet, you know cities that look like moon
It's the fact that it has that many planets that limits it. It's based on the mandelbrot fractal. It's a couple of things repeated infinitely
Vast as the ocean, deep as a puddle.
i cant even call that settlement a town
I mean we can keep writing on Zendesk, it's ultimately up to HG to decide on whether they want to go ahead
But cities will go a long way in going to fix this criticism.
The engine eventually has to be upgraded anyway at this point
Corvettes have stretched it's capabilities to the limit with the amount of bugs
All cities will ultimately do is disappoint the people that have been clamoring for them for years. Because they won't be able to do it well. And settlements and space stations are the perfect example as to why.
That's actually kinda my worst case scenario too... HG has great ideas but somehow slightly fall short of full potential
I want to ask, "why not?" this game's greatest strength is it lets you be anyone you desire... Just look at the amount of roles in the server itself like explorer, trader etc
Because the only thing that keeps a city from being a pile of blocks is its personality and this engine cannot build personality. It can repeat patterns really well.
Paradox saw a market left out by SimCity and created Cities Skylines and now they own the genre. SCS saw a market left out by literally the entire game industry and now they own the truck simulator genre
I see a potential here in the same way as well... IF done right like you say
If they were to add one big city per solar system they could do it in the space station. That maybe would be a solution
They eventually will have to fix this for LNF because this will be extremely pronounced in a single planet setting. Could a backport be possible then?
idk what kind of cities people want in this game, something like cyberpunk 2077? warhammer40k hive cities?
Oh all kinds, believe me. My response has always been that if you want to see a city then build a city
