Since they're adding tech from LNF into NMS it makes me wonder if one of the last updates before LNF releases they will add multibiome planets maybe as their own thing as a subtype of the giant planets or something. One can hope
Sean did say "we're doing a lot of things the community thought would never happen" so maybe we could get multibiome planets or multiplayer ships or what have you
Species ideas for new sapient lifeforms, all of which I’ve already submitted to Hello Games:
- Alien wolves, in three flavors: Biped, Quadruped, and Tauric (technically all the same species, but the second variety can’t fly spaceships and the third variety is a rare mutation)
- Alien fish-fox things (leaning more toward fish)
- Alien plant things (which reproduce via symbiogenesis—aka merging—with more mobile hosts)
- Feathered alien snake-dragon things: once believed to be extinct—the original source of the Iridescent Feathers contraband (illegal because it comes from an extinct species)
- Diurnal alien moths
- Nocturnal rabbits, from the same planet as the moths
- Crystalline cat people (and they actually look like cats, not some other humanoid with cat ears glued on)
DM me if you’d like to know more!
#Crazy idea
- When live support for the game finally ends, servers do a full reset so everyone starts from square one.
- However, unlike usual this time and from now on everyone spawns on the exact same planet and within the same region.
- From there people can branch out to different planets and systems.
#Crazy idea #2
- Base building restrictions removed, players can now build their bases within vicinity of other bases. This creates the possibilities of large scaled cities and proper civilizations.
#Crazy idea #2.5
- Base computer has whitelist options that allow others to build in your area without needing to place down their own base computers.
I also think there should be a way for us to take back some part's or even a third of all the galaxies and able to make a Big Star Base Space Station to allow us all to build together and even have a some kind of Space Wars where we have to defend our SBSS Star Base Space Station against the sentinel.
honestly? yeah! do like a system glitch that causes all geks to revert back to their original self.
now it becomes a galactic space war between players and the gek empire. this time they shall be called "The Second Coming".
ᵀʰᶦˢ ᶦᵈᵉᵃ ʷᵃˢ ᵗᵒᵗᵃˡˡʸ ⁿᵒᵗ ᶦⁿˢᵖᶦʳᵉᵈ ᵇʸ ᴴᵉˡˡᵈᶦᵛᵉʳˢ
Yeah we need something different at this point but I like the sound of that.
Great idea 💡 👍🏾
Okay so like why are we still not able to play with the filter on?
Y'know
If we can initiate combat with freighters
And npc freighters (most notably a pirate dreadnought freighter) can combat other freighters
Why can't we the player summon in our freighter to combat against other freighters?
Speaking of pirates, why are we always forced to aid the civilians? What if I wanna help the pirates instead in those random warp events i.e. pirate ships attacking a freighter, or pirate freighter pillaging another freighter?
planets should have localized weather patterns
Do we know if planets dynamically change in accordance to player activity?
Like
Imagine we harvest a planet so much
To the point sentinel activity starts to increase as we endanger resources more
i dont think thats the case, also seems too difficult
Mmmm
Fair
Could also seriously affect communities & hubs established in certain systems too, I suppose
Would still be cool for planets to behave dynamically to us tho
some way to get some sortt of ||auto||phage ship like the ||divergent construct|| would be cool, even if they were just fighter reskins or smthn
I really want a ship that looks like it's been cobbled together out of scraps and stuff. Hell, make the wings out of fauna leather.
I want them to just soften the ship landing now. It's strange how abrupt the landing is as you snap into place on the ground.
yeah sadly it's been like that since 1.0, I don't know how they don't think it looks amateurish to just suddenly slam ships onto the ground instead of a gentle touchdown
Something like the boundary herald, maybe
Like how the utopia speeder was actually a sort of teaser for interceptors (engine configuration)
Ngl kind of sad that they didnt added the snails to the game
Cuz every other creature from aquarius update was added but not snails
PLEASE add a way to upgrade our ships and multitools in the abandoned universe gamemode, how did y'all not take that into account???
they forgot the ocotpus too i think. I havent seen one
or maybe still working on it for another update
i would love to be able to cross save soon. I cant play 1000+ hour account because im on a pc now instead of playstation
I think no mans sky needs more creature variety and more interactive creatures. Right now they are pretty braindead, although they do work well.
Better creature ai yeah
And more pet slots PLEASE
A frickin zoo or something on the freighter to have companion cold storage idk
they should add a new exocraft upgrade (craftable not buyable) that allows you to launch to a planets surface in an exocraft from a freighter exocraft room, for the minotaur it should be a cockpit stabliser everything else it should be a parachute
(im only saying this cos i wanna drop to a planets surface titanfall 2 style)
also orbital skydiving is just incredibly fun already would be even more fun if you could land IN the mech
yeah
could even have certain quests surronding it where a sentinel tower might have air defenses so you can only get to it by either tanking the damage with your ship (bad boring booooo) or drop in IN the mech
also freighters just need like a complete overhaul imo
yes and A and D should be left and right not clockwise and anticlockwise in first person
you should 100% be able to strafe with the minotaur
hmm this has me wondering if there is any way at all i might be able to summon my minotaur from on my freighter and just drop down normally
like just jump it
ahh i found a video on it but its been fixed
at least we have the portable exocraft summoner now
oh wait
i can do this with just a low orbit base
so
it is finally time. the project i wanted to leave until last i will finally start
When does Worlds part 2 come out?
I got the game on pc but I wanna wait for the new expedition to restart
Wish I could just link my xbox save but oh well
minotaurs dont spawn properly at high altitudes
its out
yesterday
new expedition should be roughly 6 days
unconfirmed as far as im aware, but cursed ends in 5, i think theres usually a couple hours cooldown
so i would assume new expedition will just be straight after that
with the actual minotaur geobay tho it should be fine no?
nah, it just floats in the air afaik
you cant get in it either
maybe if you spawn it on the ground then go up?
i can also just make the low orbit base not like as high as it can go
i can go like just a bit lower
YES
I love the new cold storage but shit dude, I need pet cold storage
I can't stand abandoning them
Yeah it hurts so much
Another fun idea, I heard there was a food market now right?? That players can donate to
Imagine that for pets
so instead of abandoning them you could put them up for adoption
You can warp your freighter right above a planet and jump off one of your frigates
not in a minotaur
you cant summon a minotaur that high
you can also just jump off of your freighter
no frigate needed
There is a photo in this reddit of me in the minotaur in my freighter fighting for my life in the pirate one because i summoned it and the ship cannons targeted me
Discord not reddit, somewhere under my photo submissions
I downloaded a freighter base that had the land exocraft spawns on the freighter
You can place them on freighters with some building glithces
You can place any land item on them in fact im pretty sure other than like race stuff but maybe that
dont u have to do some like really stupid time consuming thing to actually do that tho
also its a bug not a feature
No idea i just downloaded and yes it is a bug
I want to see some hyperdrive expansion in the future with different types of warp animations maybe some drives that are slipping space around you instead of the wormhole travel, i know wormholes are a core of nms so maybe not but I would like expansion on warp animations, it used to be easy to mod. Now it isnt
ive only ever used black holes for story reasons
they aint all that
I coildnt find any of the minotaur ones but i found so many old phktos of mine
Hey, guys? If they ever add a lore page in-game, I think I came up with something good...
So, you know how selecting a smaller mining area with the terrain manipulator somehow produces more ore than a wider one?
I think I came up with a decent reason for that.
A wider spread disperses/weakens the energies that make up the ray, resulting in ores getting mixed up with the silicate dust run-off instead of being extracted.
A smaller spread makes the extracting part of the energies that focus on the ore more concentrated, resulting in less getting mixed into the silicate dust.
So how are we feeling about the update and to legacy players would you say it's better than unmodded Foundations/Pathfinder at this point.
My personal opinion is yes and no in some slight ways. Terrain is now way better same with water and obviously visuals. However I feel colors could still be a bit more varied. It's definitely getting there but I still would like to see pink/green/red snow, green deserts, as well as more space colors and sky variations. I'd like to see some of the crazy gas giants colors make it over to regular planets. One thing I truly miss from old NMS is multi color indvidual grass blade colors instead of it being all gradient base.
It's hard to really make a fair assessment of the range of color palettes in Pt. 2 after just a day
For me pathfinder still better but the world's update has ingrained itself as goated with how its improved sand & snow worlds along with adding wind
Now that item sorting is here, what QoL updates do we want?
I'd tweak item sorting to keep things like cobalt and ionized cobalt together and sort starship fuel to the top, but past that i'd really like tab to default to exosuit.
oh, and listing pickups in parallel vs sequence could be nice. not crucial, but smoother.
This is the problem with inventory sorting: it will never be good enough for individual players
All HG can do is prepare the most basic filters / criteria and hope people like them
Day 40 of asking HG to let Combat Scope ADS!
I would be very surprised if HG would go any deeper with the sorting options
I mean, grouping elements with their refined counterparts isn't that unreasonable. Starship fuels at the top of the list, maybe, but that's still really sensible.
Now if we got into real hyper specification like reserved slots...
custom prioritizing chierarchy for filters maybe. That way pepole can set up it the way they want.
+1 ADS in nms would be crazy with a New Dynamic fight system
Would love a multi tool weapon wheel type thing
Also be nice if when you fully dig out a resource deposit it dissapears from visor so you don't end up going back to empty deposit
With all the major asked for features that have came these past few years I really hope we get multiplayer ships and exocrafts
I think the biggest problems aside from the technical side of it however are things like what happens when you strand a player somewhere
Although I suppose we do have multiple ways of summoning ships both in and out of stations
What I'm saying it I wanna explore the new ocean planets with someone in my sub, just imagine how cool it would be
Something like a yacht-class craft is my dreaaaaam.
I wanna be a menace with my friends, riding gunner.
Wanting creature overhaul make them less derpy to ride
I can’t wait to scroll through this channel! Didn’t even know it was here, if I would love to see something, it would probably have to be (and I know they already did an update to it 😅) but each of the race’s space station look different in maybe 3 styles? So like Koravx would have 3 different generated style interior space station, the Gek’s, etc. kind of give more of the space stations not looking the same all the time in terms of decorating
gas giants were a great idea, but this execution method is flawed
it would be more conducive to class these worlds as storm worlds
with gas giants, we could have hundreds of planet sized supercontinents inside the cloud line
but otherwise a trip down beyond these means death obviously
There needs to be more threats that can harm you inside of your ship and exocrafts. All those rocks, tornadoes and lightning strikes on the gas giants should have some kind of effect, like throwing you off course or just damaging the ship at least.
that too
They're still pretty cool though. They did great with the visual effects but we need more damaging effects or some kind of extra debuffs. It'd be cool if when you were near the atmosphere, the planet pulled you toward it slowly if you aren't currently using the pulse drive.
Also, I'm gonna ask once again for 3rd person re-entry effects.
are all gas giants hot storm worlds?
They should've also had gas giants with liquid cores.
Imagine if lightning strikes shut down your ship for a moment, so you almost went into freefall.
landfall should hurt then
Some are really cold, some are failed brown dwarfs (hot)
huh, need other types too
Hitting the ground while in free fall should forcibly land your ship and break 1-3 components and terrain manipulate the ground around your ship a bit to kinda fake the ground deformation.
NOT TO MENTION if we go with worlds like this, then planets need to be its moons not moons themselves
and these floating rocks need to yield resources
We need some Interstellar type of waves as a rare occurrence on water worlds.
Here's a question: how would you approach a creature-specific update, seeing as I've seen some people asking for one?
I was going to say exactly that!
Water moons orbiting gas giants are a thing now, the waves should be high by default
We need more procedural parts for the creatures, work on turning some of the flavor text into actual creature behaviors, improve the behaviors in general. Some high flying creatures should be able to land or be predatory and pluck you or other creatures from the ground.
Make creatures respond to events such as storms, like birds hiding in trees and mammals digging caves
We need some aquatic creatures that can leap out of the water like dolphins or whales do, so large, medium and small creatures should be able to do that.
Maybe creatures can do these leaping actions as a group.
we need better subterrain systems too
Also actual migrations of herds, instead of them spawning in the same place and moving in random ways
I want to see giant animals browsing on foliage.
These things can be easily faked instead of simulating them realistically so I think they'll be able to do this eventually.
Yeah, I can see huge flocks of birds being a skybox thing.
Also large animal footsteps could shake the trees.
we need stronger variance and questlines concerning exotic biomes
We also need a larger sound library for animals. We need some animals with more bass in their roar. Something intimidating that can be procedurally altered.
The sfx of animals are the same since Next (2018)
maybe for Worlds part 3
I think they will move on to other elements, there will be no worlds part III, but I hope i'm wrong
Or maybe for an update called "Beasts" or something.
They could tie an animal focused update with cooking, companions and expeditions. There are plenty of ideas and animals are the only core exploration element not touched significantly
What about arboreal animals? Would those be doable?
Do animals go to sleep? Has anyone ever checked?
I've never seen them sleep. They just sort of disappear at certain times of day.
It'd be cool if when they disappeared, if you looked around enough you could find one or two sleeping as a rare occurrence.
Yes for sure, there are thousands of combinations of trees and plants, this means a lot of potential to make arboreal creatures unique. And why not living trees themselves
I wonder if it'd be possible to add a layer of snow, ash, or sand onto your ship if it stays on a planet long enough.
Also possible, it just depends on their priorities. Look how many cool things the engine can support, you can tell by this recent update
This game has unlimited potential
I like the water physics they added. Try shooting a neutron cannon repeatedly into a still body of water.
I think I'm just itching for some more alien-ness in the animals, rather than the same antelope, cows, and dogs for three systems in a row. Imagine if Alex Ries got on this.
I was hoping for some effects on your ship when entering a gas giant, such as cracking of the glass because of the immense pressure
One thing i hope for NMS is that MSAA gets added
TAA is extremely blurry and ruins the visuals, FXAA doesn't eliminate aliasing properly
FSR is just like TAA
Also, I reckon the reason many of the animals look so offputting - and not in a good way - is that only the heads look alien most of the time. From the neck down, they're basically regular animals.
Also, most of the time the heads are comically small.
also, for some reason the game tends to add systems that i've never reached in my discovered list. I hope this gets fixed because it's pretty annoying
Or put together such that you can't tell how the hell the poor thing eats. Like the dog head that's basically just a wedge.
Or the deer head that's just two eyestalks and nothing else.
I'd also like for freighters to move around. It'd be cool if I could set my freighter to a roaming mode. Imagine you could set your freighters and frigates to free roam, your combat frigates go get into skirmishes you can join, your exploration frigates go towards planets and orbit them or enter the atmosphere. Trade frigates go to other freighters and frigates and you can negotiate in trades with them. Industrial frigates can be seen mining by firing ore extractors onto asteroids to gain more yield than simply shooting them with lasers and they go pick them up to hand over to your trade frigates.
Also, unrelated, we need frozen lakes and oceans. Icebergs and ice sheets would be really cool (pun intended). Depending on the size they can also be mostly unaffected by the waves of a planet. Frozen over lakes and oceans should have varying thicknesses. Some could be entirely frozen and others could be paper thin and either require you to walk slowly, break through it or use the Nomad to hover above it.
Multiple biomes per planet would be nice in general.
Instead of multiple biomes, I think planets should have multiple sub-biomes. Like a volcanic planet could have one part that is cooled obisidian and another part of the planet is so hot that it literally has lakes of lava. Or another part is extremely fragmented with lots of holes filled with magma.
Also, I think they could repurpose water physics for some actual magma. We could go magma fishing, have an entire new biome: magma oceans, where you need special tech just to survive in and see through it and a new exocraft submarine built specifically for magma. New creatures, new flora and minerals. They could go crazy with it considering we can literally stand on the solid core of a gas giant already.
like ancient cities
And another random thing, gear wheel please. We need a customizable gear wheel for ease of selection.
Yeah, you could scan for sub-biomes of a planet which gives more incentive to explore different regions and see the differences. So one planet could have sporadic ruins and then on another part of the planet you can find huge ancient cities.
Ok so here I am at the bottom of the ocean 1200 units down...
Thanks to the poor planning of Hello, there is no energy access here... for YEATS now, we are asking for new energy producing machinery...
There are no geothermal units for vents.... There is no fusion reactor, no fission reactors, no wave generator, no tidal generator, ... There is no sun of course in the abyssal zone.
All we have to power anything is 2 day duration carbon units. or electromagnetic spots if we're lucky... (edited)
I’m okay with the single biome planets, I do agree with you hoping that we get a fauna update
To be fair it's obviously intended you use the underwater base parts in the actual underwater now that we can go deeper than 100
I wonder if there is going to be worlds part 3
Some people think so, I'm not totally sure
people are thinking "trilogy" I guess, but I think all Sean said last year was that they still had Worlds content they didn't have time to finish during Pt. 1. I imagine most of it is done now
personally i think they're going to touch down again on most of the stuff we have
they redid stations, planets to a degree, gave us those new good looking planetside PoI's
I think it's possible a part 3 was planned but then we got deep oceans and gas giants in one update
They gotta do freighter 2.0 I want freighters and frigates to actually do something. Let me glass a planet with my maxed out freighter or have my frigates go into a system and kill everyone.
I'd really like creature AI to be improved. That hasn't been touched since NEXT I think. Having these majestic visuals and then seeing braindead animals that just wander aimlessly, there's a big vibe contrast there now.
Settlements and PoI could use another update.
Maybe settlements, flora/fauna, and cooking.
I just want freighters to be updated idc if builds are the same i get it it's standard practice whatever
Crashed freighters
I want some properly majestic herds of grazers, being chased by massive predators.
With animations that are at least fifty percent less goofy.
They should have active goals -- are they hungry, are they thirsty, are they sleepy, are they playful -- and do things to achieve them. Instead of "pick a random location to walk to" over and over
Or even, imagine seeing one of those big wyvern-type creatures sunning itself on a rock, instead of flying about aimlessly all day.
Or hunting other flying animals.
Also, eliminating the bouncing blob creature category. I struggle to articulate exactly why, but they freak me out and I don't like planets where they're the only animals.
Except the little guys with the cute faces. They can stay.
Ais the one thing i don't think will be updated anymore
They worked on NPCs a little bit here and there but haven't really touched animals since the pet update years ago
They didn't touch water since NEXT and then suddenly we got a completely overhauled water. Nothing is impossible after Worlds
Then using lnf tech makes me think there will be an ai update soon
Water was obvious because it was already deeper before but maybe year nine is your tear
Year*
I can bet creature ai in lnf is way better than NMS I don’t see why they won’t update NMS ai to be like lnf
Hell we might get an npc ai overhaul with it
i wanna build on frigates
ir maybe like augment living frigates to have platforms and stuff
like iteration: hyperion's head
also edible geknip that fucks shit up
hardcore gamemodes should recieve more realism such as food management and such
and ships should get bigger and get more interaction possibilities
direct interaction rather than menu
trust
I would like realism like food management, then it would be a survival game, which I like best. Ultimately, I really think they should have allowed people to travel in a ship together. I ended up buying a third copy last night so me and three kids or the wife could play, but its just not worth it imo.
Its such a complex game, and the fact that everyone needs to be an expert is just too much effort for me to enjoy the game. If they could just get in my ship, it would solve all potential issues and make the game accesible to everyone. Not sure why multiplayer even exists tbh. But w/e. Maybe in the future we can all play. Until then, au revoir!
I think a cool thing in the game to have is a capital city for every planet with its own economy. Just like the settlements except it’s more in depth and you can expand it. Think there should be more outposts scattered across the land to fill the planet with more life. But I think more urban areas can add for some great base building pieces to use perhaps give some newer players more quests to do and another hub to meet up at.
P.S. Also side not, since the space stations have been updated tremendously, I think the outlaw space stations should get the same treatment since they still have the old layout. So it’d be nice for them to have the new layout but with a pirate coat of paint.
Or expand space stations to feature more residential and recreational areas.
I think there's a lore reason none of the planets have cities which wouldn't apply to the space stations.
Guess that could work too
Love the game. Especially the last expedition. Loved creating a super cool base on water and definitely the fishing. What about adding an aquarium room to display the fish we catch? Like the beautiful legendaries?
They should add fleet 2.0, freighters and frigates feel really useless when you don't need expeditions anymore. They should integrate the fleet system into the combat of the game a lot more. The fleet (especially the freighter) should be able to fire its cannons and defend you. You could even designate a target for the fleet to attack. If you're a lawful person you could use your fleet to attack pirate fleets for endgame rewards. And attack commercial fleets if you're a pirate. PvP should also be improved with this (you can already turn it off if you're not into it). Having a full S-class fleet in the endgame feels useless for those who have everything already. So adding fun, replayable content in this form would be very enjoyable. Things like combat frigates should be able to fire their guns which are clearly there on the ship. Raiders should be able to fire their torpedos, whether at freighters or even planets. Pirate freighters should be able to do an orbital bombardment because of their massive arsenal. Because getting a pirate frigate over a capital one is pretty much useless aside from the cooler look. industrial frigates could mine asteroids in bulk, support frigates refuel your ships, science vessels have an improved scanner that can direct you to anything you tell it to. Making an armada of godlike ships is one of the coolest power fantasies that I never expected NMS to do when I found out about it. But now it feels like a gold mine of unused potential. Hope this gets added in the future, leave a thumbs up if you agree.
Yeah, MP is just too boring and crummy. Thankfully though I can get refunds on all four purchases. So I appreciate that.
improve planet poi variety
- like procedural dungeons with enemies natural(fauna and hazardous flora) and Sentinels with valuable loot,
2.replace the Sentinel piller poi with a multi layer procedural dungeon filled with different level sentinels and place the
Deactivate sentinel beacon at the last level of the dungeon. - Add monster nest pois.
like
Monster nests on land,
monster nests under caves,
monster nest poi underwater,
monster hazardous flora nests,
put those newly added bosses in one of the poi locations(labelled as monster nest)as we could stumble upon instead of summoning it to do a boss fight. it straight up kills the exploration and discovery spirit.
yess more shio interaction and more survival realism
Okay, but guys. Hear me out, it’s gonna sound really far fetched. What if…
We had DAY 41 OF ASKING HG TO MAKE COMBAT SCOPE ABLE TO ADS
How would that work for staff multitools?
Gotta say I love this update but I’m a little bummed that with the new oceans underwater construction is still so limited. I get that normal structures aren’t viable because of the processing power required to displace water correctly but I’d at least hope all the prefab structures would behave properly but the cuboids are still totally scuffed when building underwater with all kinds of bizarre clipping issues. Very limiting I’d really love to see that resolved
let us have DARK STARs, stars with sentinel planets, an entire planet that behaves as one giant sentinel, full of hostility and knowing your every move, and sending legions after you, with accessways deeper into the planet to reveal untold bounty and knowledge
So, the Death Star?
dont think thats feasible but fortress/conquered sentinel planets could probably be a thing
i want terrifying sentinels
maybe like in abandoned systems there are sentinels that hunt you down properly, stalking you, studying you, adapting to your playstyle
Living planet living planet
Something gross and dynamic, mine in it and you will have its immune system deal with you
Steal one of its hearts and you can get yourself a living freighter
Honestly, they should add more land battles and factions having wars and stuff it would be cool and add a bit more immersion
more like a star without a detectable light, or shines ultra dim
what was in the new update
Oh, I see. Some space megastructures would be cool, like the "solar looms" mentioned in the flavour text for Star Silk.
i want giant fortress planets that are just made out of the sentinel metal and have tunnels toward the core
I would like a custom HUD option. I would like to play and have it feel more cinematic but still being able to see important game details and notifications
Would love a Galactic Jump Drive with it's own menu of galaxies after finishing the main quest,
Would love it if it didn't constantly say inventory full when mining something but you also get a secondary material
Add marine moons
Because I want real oceans on moons instead of lakes and puddles.
I want to sit there on the endless sea and fish while I gaze at a gas giant
@worthy fog
No gifs in this channel please
legit millers planet
Except not 2 feet deep
yep
This is horrible
The betrayal
Feedback, please!
https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/s/Qp32PvOHCO
Maybe in the Future we could have actual gas giants with dense clouds to build and mine on!
Maybe in the future we could have windmills for windy planets!
Maybe in the future we could have tidal and wave generators for our water worlds!
Maybe in the future we could have some different energy sources instead of only 3.
What
You wanna build a base on a cloud
Are you serious
Windmills doesn't sound terrible but definitely only a decoration
Wave generators
I mean
I guess that sounds nice
we need FILTER options to cut out other star colors we are not interested in
hot take: the floating islands are way too common and lose their novelty quickly
I wish planets that had smoke/dust were more variable in their patterns, rather than constantly having dust 100% of the time
I have a few things i wish for this game:
- Fix that annoying thing that in my discovered systems menu, i can see systems i've never been into
- More POIs (variety, not quantity)
- Add MSAA to the game: without AA the game is terribly aliased, and the options avaiable are not good. FXAA can't remove aliasing completely, TAA is extremely blurry and still has some problems with fine details, FSR 2.0 is very similar to TAA, slightly less blurry but less stable
- New icons and models for some objects, especially fish. Most fish you can catch are the same exact model but with different names, it removes that feeling of "yea i caught a new one!" in most cases. Same for some items that have the same icon in the inventory
We need a total overhaul of ship classes and their roles.
It doesn't make sense to be able to use my fighter as a hauler. And it doesn't make sense to be able to stack the hauler with the same advanced tech as a fighter and outmaneuver it etc.
I will die on this f**king hill.
there are so many suggestions about this and it is so true
also need more ship interaction and mabye size changes cause all ships look pretty much the same
They changed ships because people complained they couldn't do everything with various ships. Now we want to go back to how they initially were lol
What's old is new again
You know the geometric life forms? The new ones from Worlds part II? It would be more immersive if they had more color varieties. I have only seen ones with blue frames and reddish orange “blobs” in the center.
Personal wish list in no order:
Hiring a specific, static crew for your freighter like you do the squadron for small buffs and better continuity instead of being full of random NPCs.
POIs like cantinas and small villages for missions that only take place in a very local area.
Let me blow up frigates.
Squadrons being more useful. They feel almost decorative with how bad their damage output is and how uncommitted they are to attacking anything.
It'd be nice to have more fixed POIs in space like the station. Stuff like smaller space outposts, satellites, trade points, archives, etc. Ideally they would be able to sell items that you'd normally have to leave your ship to find reliably.
It'd be cool if pirates would chase you down on foot from space. Same goes for being able to fight the grounded NPCs. I just want more ground combat. I don't expect we'll see this because of issues with pegi/ESRB.
Being able to blow up space stations to turn a system into an abandoned one. Make it only doable if there is no base in the system or only by the person who built the first base to prevent griefing that is too heavy handed.
More creature and plant parts, terrain looks more or less perfect in terms of quality and variation but some specific animal and plant types only vary a small amount.
Procgen creatures being able to attack you in more ways such as extending frog tongues, spitting acid, porcupine spikes, picking you up and throwing you, etc.
More multitool weapons (DMR pretty please)
A game wide, heavy handed polish pass, improving internal logic, fixing a lot of little bugs like reducing jittery animations, fixing the god forsaken bug that lets freighter turrets shoot through the body of the ship, clipping, improving collision across the board, fps drops etc.
We have floating islands, Jovian planets have very dense gas layers so yes. That is not far fetched. lol I I don't think I am being unreasonable here. Just change the appearance of an island and make a cloud out of it. make it less dense around the edge as they did already with the floating islands.
Are you kidding? Have you seen the new planets? Are you suggesting a windmill won't generate energy? Some planets have storms every 2 minutes. Decoration only? Considering the stormy planets we have, why only decoration?
Yes lol wave generators. That is a RL thing. They bob in the ocean and generate power. We have oceans now that have waves. We even have traps that bob in the ocean. The animation is there. Like the Islands, we can keep the animation as it is and superimpose a new object.
Dont get me wrong everyone, I love NMS, I have 9700 hrs on the thing! I just think that while we have the "Oooo's and Ahh's" and the "pew pew pew" reasonably covered, I just think we are ignoring some much needed infrastructure.
I think your idea sounds fine in theory, but the actual presentation of that idea will probably be disappointing. You'd just have a base with thick fog all around it. Fog that would probably seep into your base as well
I literally only have three additions I can think of atp in the game
-
More companion slots and/or companion cold storage like a zoo or something
-
Being able to abandon a settlement without having to oversee another settlement
-
Be able to customize the color of the fishing rod dashboard thing on the rod
The first one especially
I feel like Freighters need a big overhaul
Not in terms of structure but management
Hiring specific members (pilot for example) and being able to buy and apply some techs to the freigther instead of just having the preinstalled ones that can advantage or disadvantage you
Also, more flexibility with the settlement management
Possibility to build at least decorations, and more freedom of choice for building parts
With the NMS server down, is anyone thinking about how these infinite worlds and bases can be hosted when Hello Games no longer desires to? I'm starting to think about, "How could the extended NMS universe be stored using something like ATproto?"
Mmm you are aware that the game runs completely offline and everything is generated procedurally? Visiting other people's bases, yes I suppose that would be an issue
Improve the in-game economy so that it actually has some kind of impact.
I am aware that the galaxies and planets are procedurally generated. As you point out, the bases are not. Part of the fun, for me, is discovering other player's bases. The hubs, the fantastic bases, the resource depots. All of that is currently maintained by Hello Game's servers that are expensive and fail when there's a big activity surge. If people keep playing (a good thing), those systems get more expensive.
What happens when Hello Games moves on?
Yeah, I don't engage with MP much in this game, it's a SP game for me, but I can understand how that would be a loss. I suppose the first step, if people haven't already done it, is reverse-engineering the API used to pull in base data. There would probably need to still be a central server, though I'm not totally knowledgeable about ATProto
Makes sense, unless Hello Games wants to open the specs. I have been known to stand up an HTTPS proxy and capture data streams. As for ATProto, the messaging and data store allow it to act as an eventually-consistent DB complete with schema (called "lexicon"). For example: Any system I visit, I subscribe to. Any updates, my "instance" (running game) gets notifications. When offline, no updates (of course). When back online, there's a flurry of updates with any changes. There are still "central servers", but they are whatever servers online that have the dataset I'm looking for (P2P style).
Thanks for the explanation! I suppose a tricky part could be handling permissions for base edits and such, but maybe not. The other part which may not be possible with ATProto is the Discovery Services, which lets players know in real-time which other players are around them and broadcasts positional data and such
"permissions" is one of the thorny issues. A lot can be locked down cryptographically with "is the signature on this message valid?", but the initial question of "which users/domains/signatures do I trust?" is a big one.
As for the Discovery Service, I imagine one per galaxy+system: Each has a unique ID (<galaxy-ID>/<system-ID>), and any updates are thru pub/sub protocols for that specific ID.
We need a sort of passed out emote for dramatic photo purposes
I also suggest a "worn" look for exosuits and helmets in customization for lore and dramatic photo purposes
And a stargazing emtoe bc yes
Paradise planets shouldn't have hazardous flora.
We also need planets where nearly everything is underground in massive caves.
I wpuld like option to limit galaxy map to region.
Maybe the surface has constant/near constant storms that forces most of the creatures and plant life to develop in the safety of the underground.
One thing I'd love to see in terms of freighters is more Varied abandoned freighters
Well..derelicts
Give us localised hazards like a radiation leak in some decks, kind of like after you open a cargo pod from a freighter wreck on world and stand next to it for too long
Or maybe the gravitational anomalies that seem to disable the Jetpack
Zero G segments from some decks experiencing anomalies
a more flexible foundation base part that takes the shape of whatever is under it (whether a pre-fab, landing pad, floor piece, etc)
would make building supports for visual flair much nicer
Minor feature I would like to see glaciers on arctic ocean planets
-planet type named glacier
-no glaciers
is there any space cowboy drip???
Yeah I've always wanted to see ice worlds more like Pluto, with giant glaciers, ice geysers, etc. Maybe an ocean under the ice
Giving me Barotrauma vibes
I love it
Not at all.
Even before you could use your fighter as a hauler.
Fighters should have less cargo space, and I should have way more slots and the ability to have higher stacks in my hauler.
If i could only have one thing it would be this absolutely
Wish they could add an upgrade to minatour exocraft to make it sprint
I love it but it's slow af
flying creatures should be able to attack you and other creatures
I sincerely hope we get another reset in the next major update, putting all of the new stuff in purple systems is cool and all but it feels too exclusive for something that would breathe life into the universe
I understand that this would be a pain for builders but, given all of the progress hg has made with the engine, it feels necessary
fighter used to cap at 34, hauler 48, haulers flew like bricks as there weren't a dozen upgrades to get for agility
And everyone complained they couldn't have more slots
A compromise could be made where certain systems are archived and kept untouched while all of the others where no one has built get reset
I for one would love if haulers had a considerable difference in carrying capacity, but that's not the general consensus which is why we have ended up where we are
Day 42 of asking HG to make Combat Scope ADS 🤗
Yeah there was a period where ship classes were more specialized, but it feels like we kind of lost that battle
Compromise: Make it cheaper to get expanded cargo for Haulers
Def did
I honestly don't mind it too much
I feel like a lot of the new ships do feel different from the main ones too
Solar with its pulse, sentinel with the super easy recharging and hover, stuff like that
I feel like the older ships could use similar perks maybe
Yep, standard sandbox in that regard - impose your own restrictions to play how you want
I love that they have added a ton of options to set for that as well, like availability of goods and resources, stack sizes
Hopefully we see more like that
Something I wish we'd see is the ability to change our appearance on the fly. Maybe through some new exosuit technology. And more outfit slots
Ships specialization sounds good on paper but I like the idea you can upgrade a ship to be good enough at everything
Especially considering combat just think about all the random encounters that happen
Ultimately I think ships how they are now should be the baseline and any specialization should come in the form of buffs instead of nerfs
Like
The ship classes should be the best in one area so it's a good idea to use them for a specific task but don't actually have to inorder to get the job done
More slots for sure atleast one for each race
Has for the changing the look thing idk i doubt it would hurt the game but I don't see the point unless you're constantly wanting to change your appearance but then again I've been rocking the same look for 250hrs so it's possible the appearance modifier is more inconvenient than I personally feel
Maybe if you wanna change your race you got to go to the machine but everything else can be done from the suit
But then again I'm already feeling the tech squeeze I don't have that many slots left
You bring up a good point, but my reason for wanting that is so that I could change my ship on the fly and quickly have a matching outfit to go with it
Yeah, definitely experiencing that too
Yup going to the machine is definitely a big inconvenience then
Can always gate it behind the new purple systems so there's a reason to build an appearance modifier too
More late game tech
wish there was a clear way of displaying the stats for individual multitool/ship/suit tech
or more indepth stats
like it only shows damage potential and scanner range on multi tools and doesnt really go anywhere in detail
Feature Request sent to ZenDesk:
A lot of people who've already done the main missions will move onto a new save and then have to do those missions all over again to access new end game content. A "Global Mission Progress" tab in the settings would fix all of that, with options that let you decide which of your saves you want to copy mission progress from, and a little check-box that says "Follow Global Mission Progress" so you can opt in or out on any save.
Doesn't the New Mission Terminal in the Anomaly cover that ?
I don't really know if that's a fit, i'm just curious if it offers what you're requesting? Anyone know for sure?
Even 34 is a lot for a fighter
Now there's so much to find, I wish we could display screenshots etc in our bases with coordinates attached
The wonder displays are really cool too, but I'd love to have more slots
How do you get the minatour exo to mine for you mine doesn't seem todo anything apart from follow me
No, that’s just for Nexus missions. I’m taking about story mission progress.
I would like to see more prefab parts and more of the cube rooms too
With the new water stuff the oceans building underwater is gonna happen way more and the parts we do have are pretty limiting
Oh and dear lord fix that damn splashing sound please
Id answer the question but tbh idk i just use it fights didn't even know it could mine for you
Oh I would love a rework of the exocraft they all feel so slow and clunky and driving them is more inconvenient than useful
Like let us use the visor while inside instead of making us get out each time
That would be a big help
The only ones I particularly like are the minotaur and colossus
One is a mech that fights for tou and the other is a massive vehicle so it being slow and clunky feels good and right
Wahoo
Was cooking in general chat and realised my points would be better heard in this channel. Just going to copy my messages from there to hear
With purple systems being the new endgame content, it’s difficult to imagine how the devs could go further and add more endgame content. Well, I was thinking back to the game’s release and had a thought
Those of us who were there since the beginning likely remember how disappointing reaching the galactic core was when the game first released, right?
What I don’t see many people talking about is the fact that we technically never reach the core. We jump, then we fly out of the galaxy
Many people interpret this as “reaching” the core, but what if we think about it differently? What if the gravity is so immense that no ship is able to slow down once they jump? They jump, and the shear gravity of the galactic core slingshots them back the way they came and out of the galaxy
Building on this potential interpretation of what’s actually happening when we jump to the galactic core, what if it were possible to jump to the core and stay there? What if it were possible to actually reach the core?
Isn't it theorized that most galaxies have a black hole at their center? not sure we want to stick around there
That’s for Hello Games to figure out. The point is that there exists an opportunity for even further endgame content
No clue how original my idea is and whether or not it’s been thought of already, but if it hasn’t been thought of before then I’m handing it to them on a silver platter
Oh there's definitely a ton of room for more endgame content. Most of the "explore, fight, trade, survive" tentpoles don't really have endgame components. I suppose you could say some of the stuff they added in Pt. 2 gives survival some endgame. But the others could really use new deeper gameplay for endgame players.
Yeah
Obviously I’m sure people have proposed actually being able to explore the core system, but perhaps not in the way I framed it
Your idea is interesting, if you could come up with some thoughts on what would be at the core for players to do, you should send it to HG
Almost certainly some kind of story content. Have it be almost as good as the main quest, given how close to home reaching the core was for us OG players
They really have a chance to come full circle with something like this
I was too busy exploring back in the 1.0 days to ever try to reach the center, but yeah it would be a nice callback
I can’t actually remember when I first bought the game, but I was certainly along for the ride as people scrambled to the core
And back in those days there weren’t any fancy shmancy portals, just hyperdrives! Hyperdrives and blackholes for the whole journey, and we never knew where the black holes would spit us out
@ripe anchor
No gifs in this channel please
That's wild. I can't imagine this game without portals. I've always thought they were a little too convenient but it would certainly be a very different game without them.
Might have been more interesting if they only existed on certain planets, meaning you’d have to travel to the nearest portal world like with black holes
Even just having to find the portal of any particular system complicates things. It would make people more reluctant to fan out though. Bases would be more "I was here" pit stops than the full blown cities we see today. Being a smuggler would be actually challenging though, which I would love.
I don't think portals should let you use them if you're carrying anyting a sentinel would flag you for. Kind of like a built-in TSA that Nopes you if you're carrying illegal stuff. It would force players to make actual smuggle runs into legal systems, instead of just portal hopping to a base in a legal system.
I'd also love if having a negative ranking with a race meant something. They shouldn't sell you anything in their legal spaceports, or let you use their market or ship stations. I'd even go as far to say you should be "Kill on Sight" while in the system. Sentinels should be actively looking to unalive you wherever you go until you reset your reputation with that particular race.
Yes, I play as a Pirate ☠️ 😛
I’d love to see some planets experience extinction level events like massive asteroids cracking them open or super volcanos, massive earthquakes, tsunamis etc. Perhaps they could have missions tied to those events like mining resources or warning/helping communities of NPCs on that planet
Is worlds pt 3 a thing?
I heard talk about that and idk if it was a misunderstanding or joke
No there's no official mention of a Pt. 3, I think people just want to believe there will be
imagine sean posts a 🌕🌕🌕 in a few months out of nowhere and the entire community explodes
Yeah I'm not really sure how full this year will be for NMS updates. Perhaps a year of smaller updates while they try to finish up Light No Fire for release? But who knows, they could have another big one getting ready for summer
I'm curious if purple systems will remain static like the OG systems, or if they will reset them if they add new biome features
might want to add a spoiler for that
i know this is stupid to say and i know freighters exist but i think space bases would be a good addition to the game but i say again i know this is stupid and i know freighters exist but imagine the amount of space bases you could encounter and also including space settlements too, that could be fun but idk about everyone else tho
you mean like literally run into other players migrant fleets?
I'm not good at making suggestions, but kinda, but also kinda like you building your own custom space station in a way
Idk if it’s a thing already or not, but imagine how insane it would be to find Titan worms swimming around on ocean planets
well you notice the story missions lately have you interacting with that Giant station ship autophage maybe we will be able to build our own later or own sentinel ships like we can fighters and such now who knows
do not put that nightmare thought into the air
i would literally shit myself, i already have trauma of being in the ocean on worlds with water, i don't need more trauma
Oh that’s the least of my ideas. I’m just waiting for the crossover expedition that will add the reaper leviathan to the game. And subnautica 2 is coming out soon, so publicity opportunities make it a non 0 chance ☺️
Imagine if we could toggle specific star colors in the galaxy map
I would like to have option to limit galaxy map and visible stars to region im atm in.
PET ARCHIVE GODDAMMIT!! YOU CAN DO IT WITH STARSHIPS!
I still want expanded caves, and a touch more on ocean exploration. Look, the deep oceans are cool, as well as having new hazards and stuff to find, but I want like new ocean-based structures to explore. As for caves, put in more underground structures or more resource variety.
is there a roadmap or plans for this year? Just curious
I’ve been playing a lot of Astroneer recently, and that game makes me really want a future NMS update where we can go to the core of certain planets to collect rare resources
Not sure where I should ask this question, but this seemed like the best thread on here to do it... Does anybody know when they are letting more people into the Cross save beta or is that something they just keep close to their chest? I guess I didn't realize it was a limited access thing when I bought the switch version to play my save on the go. Any help is good help. Thanks in advance.
Not that ive seen, but if you go to the features page on the NMS website and read the Worlds Part 2 section about faster load times, it mentions the now smaller game file size makes larger content updates easier. I'd post a pic, but I guess I can't 🤷
There's been no indication as to the cadence. They let a bunch of people in at the beginning of the year, but nothing since. Hopefully after Pt. 2 gets stabilized with the bug patches we might see more openings
thats cool. Im curious how the future will look like. still hoping to have more diversity on planets and more bioms / rivers etc. or maybe advanced combat system
Thank you for the info. I'll keep watching.
Here’s a idea
A building that you can store pets in that will give a passive income of the beasts harvests from them as long as their food in them
Currently ranching is extremely difficult to get stuff since you don’t get anything unless your near it
This could give incentive to have pets not only for cosmetics look
But also resources
YESSS
i need to make more cakes
oh yeah also
the auto feeder made an incentive to be a chef but it still doesn't feel worth it
Yeah :/
and ket us make tea and stuff
You could make a animal food that boost harvest numbers
I honestly feel like we need more to go with Living Ships, Living Frieghters, Living Multitools? We also need the stuff like the beans and the wheat to be farmable so I can mass produce Herbal Crunchies...
i wuld love more living ships or frighters since i excusively use living ships
i just wish we could get x class upgrades
since the ships feel out classed by sentinal ships
adding in
living ship only have two weapons
be nice if we had biological rockets
I've only recently just got into using living ships after finding a Purple/Wine Red one... I'm now in love with it that I've put my Utopia Speeder in cold storage... we need more for the Living Stuff though for sure
or spike lunchers
but we only have the beam that heal sheild and normal guns
yeah here my baby
Definetly need more weapons, I love the Infraknife and cyclotron ballista on my base ships
issue primarily is how you need to upgrade these ships
you need to collect eggs
which take alot of time to get and upgrading the tech is even worse since you get random every time
my gun peak damage is around 6k
which isnt great
compared to some ships in this game
i guess techainally what give you a advantage is living ships have huge hyper range
and a relitively easy to fuel
it issue is rapairing with out repaitr kit get messy
seeing alot of it is organic stuff which sometime dont even spawn on some planets
kinda why i stock pile stuff i need to maitain them
but i ll be honest i baby my living ships
i dont like them hurting
and i am constantly making sure i keep them safe
I want glaciers
So it seems there’s some some oversights in the freighter base restrictions. Some decorative objects such as the dividers, these covered crates and this crane aren’t available, while other things like the water tower and canvas gazebo are?
Additionally, the floral containment units, which are purely decorative to my knowledge, cannot be built on freighters while the standing planer can
There are still many quicksilver base items I am yet to unlock, but I imagine there are many that fall victim to these sometimes unclear restrictions. I do not believe any harm would come from allowing these items to exist on freighters
Examples of what I am able to achieve at a freighter base right now, without the aforementioned items
In addition to this, I believe there are many existing assets that could easily be given to us to expand our creative potential when building bases
Just a mission system that I thought would be a fun addition to NMS. I would love to play a role where I feel like I am uniting the universe and brokering peace between factions in this manor. I came up with this concept because I am a fan of The Orville and diplomacy is a core focus on that show.
Diplomatic Peace Talks Between Rival
Settlements
Setup:
Two planetary factions are on the brink of war, and you are sent to mediate peace.
Variables:
- Conflicting Factions*: Korvax, Gek, or Vy'keen; come from two randomly selected star systems.
- Diplomats*: The player will meet with diplomats from each system. The diplomats will have a naming format that matches the name of the system they are from paired with something like "Accord", "High Council", "Embassy", "Guild" (example: the player must meet with the "Zyphor-89 Theta High Council" from Zyphor-89 Theta and the "Vorduun Reaches Accord" from Vorduun Reaches) These characters could have new procedurally generated matching outfits including robes and royal garb of sorts.
- Dispute*: Border conflicts, resource rights, a past betrayal, etc.
- Personality Types*: Rational Leader, Aggressive Warlord, Suspicious Diplomat.
Mission Flow:
- Dialogue Challenge: You must persuade both sides to meet in a neutral zone. Success partially depends on player's past reputation with each faction. They could send you on a simple mission to prove your trustworthiness if you have a lower standing, or they might trust you right away if your standing is high. This still does not guarantee a meeting, but significantly increases your chances.)
- Event Variation:
- If successful, negotiations proceed smoothly.
- If one side refuses, the mission shifts-do you intimidate them, bribe them, or take sides?
- Outcome Possibilities:
- Peaceful Resolution*: The factions form a alliance, or at least a common ground, granting you rewards like discounts or unique tech.
- Failed Talks*: One faction attacks the other mid-meeting, forcing you into a combat scenario where starships swoop to attack (and potentially on foot NPC combat if that ever happens)
- Betrayal*: A hidden third party (pirates, rogue sentinels) disrupts the talks, revealing a bigger conspiracy.
I'm pretty basic; I just want more early-game aliens lol
It is a bit lame to effectively only have three races plus the weirdos in the Anomaly
For mechanical reasons we can keep the three as the main factions controlling systems, but let other species have their own settlements, outpost thingies, NPCs on stations etc.
also more unique models for hazardous flora so it isn't the same, like, 5 almost everywhere
Green gasbags, Venus flytraps, and questionable tentacle plants don't fit on every planet
At the very least there could be two unique models for each normal planet type, plus a handful of oddballs, and the current ones could be slotted in as the toxic planet ones
the others could get grasses with bell flowers that spray lava, funky seed pods that explode ice shards everywhere, plants with leaves like beetle pincers that try to crush you...
just want the camera in 3rd person to be able to got back a little further
More underwater base building pieces now that oceans are deep.
does anyone knows if expedition 12 will come back in the future? 🙂
More bug customisation options could be nice
Actually.. more bugs in general haha, and the ability to tame those butterfly/moth hordes, that would be fun
U can tame a butterfly/moth
More diverse types of freighters, not just star destroyers and sentinels. The only way I would maybe trade in the capital ship I have now is if there was one that was heavily inspired by the Nostromo from ALIEN, for instance.
I wonder too, mate.
But I also want to see one day urban planets.
Something like Coruscant in No Man's Sky edition.
Does anyone think that they’ll PROPERLY implement a system where players can sell off ships/multi-tools to each other?
i wonder if hg has any plan of adding something like a notebook in game that can remind players of what to next when players return to game if they have left notes last time they exit and they have left game for such a long time that they may forget what is planned to do, which would be sort of more convenient than notes out of game.
It would be nice to have more fish and animals..... Not going to lie some hostile alien cities would be fun
Exactly!
But you know I also want in No Man's Sky?
Sabers!
I'm seeing commentaries after this. XD
Traveller: The Force is strong with u, young Traveller. But u r not a Jedi, yet!
(Breathing heavy and loud)
Warhammer chainsword in nms
Not sure how close they can get to lightsabers without running afoul of copyright, and not sure how much I would like them lifted wholesale into NMS anyway
But something similar would not be bad
Glowy swords
Theres like a billion games with energy swords and stuff
Quest: The Sword In The Stone
-# Requires at least Five Core Health to pull without dying)
The All-siah is pleased. 😉
Imagine implying typical fantasy tools for No Man's Sky. XD
Like bows, swords etc.
I could see a bow-inspired Multitool
That's why they're making Light No Fire
I want a “Hazard Course” kinda thing, but for No Man’s Sky. A condensed, highly structured tutorial that you can play as a substitute for the immersive-but-way-drawn-out main tutorial.
“Hello, and welcome to the -kzzzkt- Exo-Course, where you will be trained in the use of your exosuit and multi-tool. Let’s begin by equipping into your suit. You can see it suspended up ahead of you.
If you see one of these buttons, press it, and I will repeat instructions or show you how things are done.”
Can we get fireberry, impulse beans, sweetroot, grahberry and a few others as growable crops?
Would love to get a new building set exclusively for underwater. The set we have is cool but it feels like it could be so much more and can be creatively limiting sometimes.
What bothers me is how limited we are with power. Solar panels make no sense in deepwater, yet they work and are your only real power source aside from electromagnetic hotspots.
Same solar panels work inside buildings and in caves too. You can even dig a hole place em and fill in the terrain
Saying that I would like windmills
I like to keep mine "realistic" so I keep panels on the surface, but they create a lot of clutter
I wish there was some kind of Fusion Reactor for people who don't want to screw around with power management
I wish deep ocean and gas giants actually had a pressure hazard rather than just re-using heat
I play NMS exclusively on PCVR, it would be pretty cool to have bHaptics vest support to feel when your ship takes off, when you take enemy fire or damage in general, use your jetpack etc
Day 43 of asking HG to add ADS to Combat Scopeeee
there was a traveller who spoke weirdly, like declaring which baron i served or something, and they stabbed me with a 'multisword'
So we will have multiswords, eh?
Or it's just a hint for potential expansion.
Ngl I would love to see a fauna overhaul
One of the changes I would love is the birds/wyverns being able to land and be tamed
A big thing for me personally would also be overhauled animations and procedural body parts
i think it was just to make the traveller sound old
Now this is something I can get behind. Pay attention, Sean, this guy is handing you great content ideas on a silver platter
i'd love to see a behavioral overhaul with animals
things like nocturnal animals, ones that hunt in packs, watch them eat off trees or be territorial towards one another
basically i want them to have routines
would make the worlds feel so much more alive and prompt me to explore planets more intricately to identify specific behaviors
More “non-uniform” ship designs like the Boundary Herald.
npcs that have living ships would be cool
like starship taners
they won't sell them for obvious reasons
but maybe they'd sell stuff for living ships
also make it so we can feed them for like pulse efficiency and stuff
oh yeah and humanoid sentinels
I'm afraid humanoid enemies are a no go if HG wants to keep low PEGI rating
Hence we can't aim our weapons and initiate combat with existing humanoid NPCs
I would love to see full blown cities on planets, not just the settlements
One thing I thought awhile ago was also taking over an abandoned solar system and making your own space station. Then you figure out what economy you want and you work to import/export food between systems
Freighter warp range needs to be massively increased with upgrades. Like, at least 10,000 LY minimum. My explorer and my freighter somewhat match jump range of 2500 LY. That shouldn’t be the case, as now I use my freighter to get around more than my explorer
I had a mod one time, set my freighter at 57000 LY range. Something like that.
i more mean like sentinels with autophage like bodies
That's still humanoid
the concern is pegi rating, but robots don't have gore
i agree with this, no real sense devoting time to trying to upgrade ur jump systems on a freighter if u can more easily just do it with your ship and then call ur freighter in
its useful with friends
thats about the only case i can think of using a freighter over a ship
An idea could be illegal freighter upgrades
also give us ships that specialise in atmospheric flight
Once again asking for localized weather.
a ship decoration thats just a Lok in a jar
I really hoped with the purple worlds we would get dynamic (and much longer) day/night cycles. It can't be that hard to code, I think there's mods to do it. If I choose to be on a sunny side of the planet, I want to explore for an hour or two there without it going dark every 15 minutes. If there's a cool sunset, I'd like to watch it more than a few seconds
to be honest i really wanna fight Dreadnoughts with other ones, a mass war of them you know like 3v3 or 5v5 of them and the guns on them actually worked and can upgrade the shields, weapons fighters that protect the ship in the mass war trying to protect it from mass damage and all that, that would definitely get me to engage more into exploring the systems
I’d like to see planets orbiting black holes
Or white dwarfs
Or underwater sentinels
Remember the old hud from the E3 reveals. What if we had a modernized version of it as a cosmetic change
Maybe even more new hud designs could be made
I want no hud ideally
U can turn off hud. But some esential icons like mission markers also vanish.
That would be awful
I love pd but all my saves end in a bug
Once i got caught in the space station
Inside its walls
Fleet battles are one of my biggest hopes for the future
I think most planets in nms are just really small compared to ours
they're the size of some of the smaller moonlets in real life. but that has nothing to do with the day/night cycle, the planet size doesn't determine that right now
ah
nms is rated teen. Many teen games involve shooting humans/humanoids and in many you can point a gun at them.
true, also there's ||drug farming and smuggling, cults, multiple traumatic encounters at obelisks, existential horror and dread, nazis, korvax committing suicide||
and that's not even scratching the surface
I know I really want the weapons and stuff to work as well, like if pirates attack the ship goes into defense mode
it does, the weapons are just terrible at aiming
Oof then they need tuned a bit more 😂
lol
I don't even notice them firing 😂
huh, I see big red lasers shooting around but they never hit a fighter once
good point lol
wait NAZIS??
Yeah, I've seen the lasers but never seen them actually aim at the fighter
lol, yeah thats what I was talking about
they kinda just shoot at random places
Geez that bad. Yeah they definitely need a tune up, sounds like we got StormTroopers at the moment
I don't really know why they haven't utilized freighters better to expand gameplay, they seem content to treat them as mobile bases when they could be so much more
Agreed, there's a ton of potential in it, and space for how big they are
let us hangglide
There's a brief shot of hang-gliding in the LNF trailer. I really want them backporting that to NMS
Ok, why can't living ships land on water or recharge. They're alive. They should be able to do both
I feel like holding S to keep on your target then you actually aiming the weapon would fix this
I'm talking about freightors
O, well regardless my stance still stands
It's crazy to me that living ships still cant land on water, it makes water worlds pain for them
They can
Wait can they? Is it a module you can find?
Same way you get the other tech yeah
I wish for Tidally locked planets
I wish for living freighter
Living freighters have potnetial.
-Unique perk like healing damaged stored ships over time.
-new weapon tech for LS
-new drive class for world of glass jumps
-ability to "grow" LS upgrades
I wish for an opportunity where we can have a chance to get closer to a star in a system
And ofc severe consequences if we get too close
I want to see a larger variety of fauna on a planet. Like if there were different fauna per region/biome
Technically we have that with fauna that are "found north/south" but I mean like different fauna in different biomes.
It would have to be a completely unique dessign internally for it to make any sense. Probably more than is worth doing, but would be great.
Ofc idek if it would require a crew bcuz the living frigate has no crew
And they call living frigates mega fauna so idk what they’d call a living freighter… gigafauna?
Maybe if they made a freighter invaded by space fauna, like it had caught a disease of sorts, they could add a hybrid type of ship that still made sense
"Shattered Planets"
Basically a planet that's land is only made up of floating island
I thought that's what the Gas Giants are technically supposed to be. Not a perfect sphere of mass but enormous shards of land caught in its stormy wake.
I'm sure this has come up before, but I'd love for there to be a more player-centric trade system. One idea I had was for there to be a place on the anomaly where players can deposit things they would like players to buy. The price for the player buying would be significantly higher than if they bought it from NPC, (Say 50-100%) more expensive, so it would not make buying from Space Stations or Trade Markets obsolete, but would allow them a better chance of finding something they need specifically. (Paying for convenience). This mark-up in price would then be transferred to the seller, who would get more for the item than they would selling to market, but they would have to wait for a player to buy it, leaving them to choose if they want less money now or more money later.
To streamline it and keep it from becoming an EveOnline kind of thing, I don't think the players should set prices. They should be set automatically by the game. (The mark-up, I mean)
That would be cool
Definitely need a way to be able to make a surface base on a Deep Water planet ❤️
Whatever weird trick the low-orbit builders use might work. I haven't figured it out yet.
Yeahh, I haven't figured anything out yet.. it's definitely dissapointing to not be able to travel right to the surface and then be able to dive down. Directly warping to the bottom takes some of the magic out of it for me
Well they did add the floating Nautilon station, and our ships can float over the water's surface now, so floating bases might not be far behind.
Yeah, which is awesome, but still no way to warp to that point on the surface is my main thing
Especially when the surface of those water worlds are so beauty D:
I mean you can build from the bottom up. It would take about 5 bases worth of pillars and a mountain of patience, but it's not impossible
I didn't try it yet but I accidentally went into build mode while on the fishing skiff and the base computer build preview was green when placed on the skiff with me. Maybe you can use that as a starting point?
Wouldn't the terrain manipulator work? Build upwards with it then revert it once the computer is down
....am I missing something, does "free placement" not work in this case?
Planets with more unique terrain like this was always something I’ve wanted to see.
Other than that, I hope we eventually see a revamp to creature taming. Let us have more than one out at a time, give them commands to help collect resources or take something out in a fight, and improve the jankiness of riding— It’s really annoying trying to ride a creature and they just make sudden random turns for seemingly no reason and their movement speed constantly fluctuates while sprinting.
Also creature pens. Lemme display my cool creatures on a base. :(
plant seed sequencing
Dune planets,
This technically was in the game due to a bug in old versions where barren/desert planets would generate with no flora or minerals (except for the essential plants and minerals). They were really cool to have these waste land planets but they got patched out
I found a planet earlier that actually had an island. It might have more but it's mostly deep ocean. I set a computer on it to mark it and I'll build a base on it later
An actual deep sea world? Did you change your name to that after or is that just an awesome coincidence 🤣
So I did that on the first world. My skiff vanished after a bit but I wasn't able to add anything else even though the computer is still there.
Nah I'm Poseidon on most everything. And yeah it's my deepest world so far at like 1470u. I didn't even see it at first when I landed then happened to see it. Had the dissidents or whatever all over it.
Wow innnteresring
I pointed out to my buddy earlier that if anyone finds any world I've discovered, especially water ones it's going to make them think it was HG playing a joke 😂
Want the code for it?
I would if I knew how to use codes👀
Ah
If you send, i’ll do some research later though? Id appreciate it! No pressure tho
Hopefully we see more of this stuff in the future or some sort of floating base added to the game. They already did freighters so something for water or some sort of actual mobile base would be cool. Something like a hovership
DAY 44 OF ASKING HG TO ADD AIMING DOWN SIGHTS WITH COMBAT SCOPEEEEEE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Imagine if we could take an abandoned system, create our own space station, and cultivate an economy within that system.
Well here's the latest thing I would like to see....
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MY NEW BASES NOT BE BURIED ANYMORE!!!! YOU BURIED MY BASES IN YOUR LATEST UPDATE!!!
YOU BURIED BOTH OF THEM AND THEY WEREN'T EVEN UNDERGROUND
Clearly a hotfix is in order lol
has there been anything datamined related to settlements in the past year
feels so undercooked itd be unfortunate if it were to be just left as is
would be cool if it was integrated into buildable bases instead of being entirely seperate
my settlement levitates now ig
i wish i could decirate frigates
Bit of an odd one but for some multi tools that are held with 2 hands in 3rd person - make them also have 2 handed animations in 1st as well? :v
One thing I would really like is an overhaul to ruins and the proc gen artifacts
It would be awesome if they were actually usable as proc gen decorations
A set of models with a bit of variation, some alternate colours, and a plaque you can interact with to read the description
Also a way do display screenshots in your base, which display glyphs when you interact with them
does feel like there is a very simple multibiome gen
but its kindof just barren or not
im hoping freighters get a nice update in the future similar to how the interitors of space stations were remade
I still wonder why we never got an iOS/iPad port. Apple released that marketing blurb about one coming and yet HG has never mentioned it since. If it runs well on Switch, it can surely run on modern iPhones and M-series iPads. Probably better performance even.
Planet times based on planet rotation and tidally locked planets
It'd be cool if not every planet had some kind of storm, or if the storm frequency varied between them.
"Paradise" type planets generally have no or few storms I believe
That might be true, but I moreso meant for all the planet types. It'd be nice to land on just a chill ice or fire planet, especially considering that the storms on those worlds in particular blind me and make it kind of a hassle to land my ship-
If it's a vision issue, I believe they have an option to reduce weather effects in the accessibility options
yeah the smoke coming off the ground on hot planets is a little excessive
Hello, i have an idea, maybe Hello Games will include this in future. When crafting by clicking "e" - I wish we could just hold "e" key and craft non stop amount after amount till we stop holding key "e" 🙂 It would be such more comfort holding key and not clicking it all the time for example while crafting companion pallets.
small change but i think significant
I don't know if it was changed but on an old save I had a base on a cold planet which never had storms
You can craft more than one at a time.
More ways to generate power besides solar, Bio, and EM. How about wind and hydro
Wind could have the added benefit of producing more energy during planetary storms
please fix underground fauna
!hg
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
With all these new purple 🟣 planet which are empty does dat mean in time space station & ting will be built in these system over time 🤔.
Are these planets mainly 4 abandoned mode
It would be really cool if we had creature traps like fish traps
Put in special bait and then catch certain kinds of creatures
Yoooo like fish nets
Fish farm
Yeah but for terrestrial or aerial fauna
But mordtire isn't really something worth farming
Honestly it would be cool if we could throw bait in a cave and increase chances of underground creatures spawning
That's cool
They've gotta change what planets look like from space
I wish there was a mechanism to buy and sell items with other players
I want to visit a base and be able to buy stuff the owner decided to sell
Without the owner being online
Some kind of a shop
With customizable prices and discounts
idk what i did but exocraft summoning is broken. now i can put my nautilus sub inside of land and drive to the center of the planet
so then i made a base at the center of the planet
and now i cant get rid of it :(
Can we get a fifth race to the game that is amorphus, i.e. sentient blob “people”?
I would add that animation after deleting base is kinda pointless 😄
paradise planets should have multibiome
They have. Water, cave , land biome
autophage frigates or starships
Proper player trading system, please. Also ship trading between players. Edit: Leave the current system in but just add proper trading on top. That way, people can still give stuff away without going through a whole trading UI.
The trading system needs consent of some form not just rhe ability to give aeay
Some kind of gifting system would be nice. A mail sevice.
Heck, even Animal Crossing has that
What's wrong with sitting in front of the Nexus? Works for panhandlers....lol
Seems simple - it's really the only place TOO give stuff away, no?
I'm not judging but there should be a consent system to approve the stuff given to you
99% of the time I've done it - I've had nothing but generosity. You're right, some ppl will dump garbage - but so far, I've found it rare.
Getting good stuff dumped on you can be a problem too
I've witnessed alot of players get bored and stop playing within 2 months or less
As I said im not tryna judge doing that , just saying there should be some kinda consent system if they update trading
Endgame players that dump millions of units onto new players without asking are doing them a disservice
One of the good things about being on Switch is that it forces you to obtain things without outside help. IMO
Not judging btw. I just personally prefer it that way.
Maybe a pasture building for your settlement to store pets
Also a glider exocraft would be sick
Feel like starships already fill that roll
Maybe a paraglider exosuit upgrade
I know we have jetpacks but it could be faster, only go downwards and have no fuel
yeah I've wanted a glider in NMS for a while, and with these gigantic mountain ranges in purple systems it would even be more fun to have
I really hope the next big update overhauls NPCs and gives them radiant AI. Would be so cool to see NPCs wander from their ships after landing to interact with things and let you attack them and have them fight back or run away. We can already kill them in ships we should be able to do it on ground too.
Could allow for things like killing a trader when they land and you can claim their ship, and they try and get back into their ship to escape before you kill them.
And have NPCs react to things you do around them like if you attack another NPC they help them and attack you etc
Since this part of the discord is named "the future"
Can anyone (whos been truly active in this server) tell me if there's been any damn updates about Cross-Save? Or Has all the updates about the game been licking WorldsPt2's boot
Isn't that something to do with the servers atm?

Nah the server issue is with PlayStation and all that junk. I'm talking about the fact that NMS Cross-Save beta was announced back in November-ish and Sean went dark about it the moment WorldsPt2 jumped the gun.
If it's still in beta then they're probably still working on it.
I don't really want to be attacking random NPCs, but if they add things like bounty hunters or land-based pirates, 1000% want that
The LNF trailer has one. They could backport it.
yeah I was pumped to see that, maybe we'll get it here true
If they can give is the water tech, they can give us the glider. 😛
Having the choice would just be nice. Every now and then I get the occasional NPC interaction that just makes me wish I could shoot them in the face lol. It would make sense to disable pulling out your weapon in space stations still though, unless they made it so if you do the space station security instantly stuns you and arrests you. And of course when killing an npc it should have the consequences of losing standing with that faction and maybe also getting a wanted level.
Also means you could have pirate or bounty hunter NPCs that can land on the planet you're on and attack you
Uh, can we keep Skyrim out of NMS?
The NPCs just need more interaction and ai imo to make it more immersive
They're more like objects with assets than NPCs with AI at the moment
Agreed, I just don't get why the answer that is always murder.
It doesn't have to be, would be cool to see NPCs land and start mining trees and rocks for example
more than anything else they need their own agency
Exactly
That I agree with
They all exist on preset parameters, with preset animations and walking paths, the most they do is wave when you get close to them.
I long for the day an npc lands in a space station and actually walks over to the shops
Even just putting something like a bar in space stations would be an improvement.
Exactly. They could even go more in depth by having NPCs have their own small inventory, so when you see them mine stuff they actually hold it, if you kill them you can loot what u just saw them mining or trade with them. Or they could see you mining something and ask to buy it etc
I dunno. It's kind of central to the story that you feel alone in the universe even when surrounded by npcs
There's always that feeling that they aren't real characters like Artemis
I just want them to have their own goals and be able to have individual relationships with the player. Maybe you can make a trading agreement. Maybe you doublecross them and they send a bounty hunter after you. Maybe you get a Gek drunk and they give you a treasure map to a dungeon on a local planet. There's so many things you can do to make the NPCs feel more like a living society rather than animatronic item dispensers
Yeah this. Give them more interactions than just learning a word or giving them a gift. Things like getting maps or rare trade offers is such an obvious thing they can add already. They really are like animatronics that's what I was trying to describe before
Yeah nothing is real but that doesn't stop them updating all aspects of the game to try and make it as immersive as possible, a simulation still needs to be believable to work.
I'm also thinking that kind of rework of NPC AI is just too difficult
same with the creature AI, which needs to evolve beyond just wandering aimlessly. which is fine if you're just running through an area, but really starts to break down more once you build a base and watch them for a while
Maybe something like escort missions is more feasible
escort missions god no
We already have freighter battles and squadrons and pets so the hard work would be done
subjective but I've never enjoyed an escort mission in any game
and they're dependent on good AI, which NMS does not have
Historically escorts have been the main moneymaker for independent mercenaries outside of joining an army/navy
What would be a good way to rework creature behavior?
I would like for some furniture/decorative elements to snap to one another like the countertops do. Make this option a toggle, like free/snap. My example would be lockers or beds. If a good idea, please provide other examples. - HD ticket submitted.
Sleeping, laying down, sitting, foraging, climbing
Okay so more variety in the mood system
Part of it is about making the creatures aware of their surroundings more. Right now the only time they do this is when a body of water is nearby, which they'll use as a watering hole. But this should be expanded to the herbivores eating plants and leaves around them that they like. They should also have rest periods, like sleeping under a tree or birds perching on rocks and trees. Also the hunting behaviors could be improved a lot to include group tactics, and also have more unique attacks for each creature (which would also make fighting them as a player more engaging). And some herbivores should stand their ground when attacked by predators.
Not sure if it’s a bug or a feature, but many of the base decorations that snap to surfaces do a 180 degree flip when moving the object from its current location or copying it in position. Is this a useful feature? If not, I will petition via help desk to eliminate this behavior. - HD ticket submitted.
Because of the procedural generation of terrain it's difficult to make fauna AI "aware" of their surroundings within time constraints. It's easier to do the land/water interaction because, I believe, land/water is a constant distinction based on elevation. Creature/creature interactions are easier because there is a limited number of them. But for example something like foraging from the environment would require the computer go through the whole list of flora for each animal to see what is nearby... which takes a prohibitive amount of time. Note how animals walk right through fauna and minerals...
Yeah I think an AI update in general is the next big update the game needs. But the fauna ai is a good example of how npc ai should be. I'd love it if the NPCs were like the fauna where they could wander and interact with things beyond a preset pathing area
Not saying it's impossible but they would likely have to cut corners to make it work. Like preset (on spawning) foraging and nesting spots rather than dynamic foraging or sleeping, or just random behavior that is disconnected from the actual environment
a l c o h o l
I mean you can already make Chareau aloe liqueur... I mean "Refreshing Drink"
I assume other drinks like Fire Water or Pilgrim's Tonic are also alcoholic
what is the third element representing
in the image?
Please enlighten me on the “online discovery features, those weird flying milk things, and mass suicide” please I’m so confused
yea
NMS also has smuggling as activity
No one argued with you, you didn't had to bring all of that. Not only not true but this format looks like you have been trying to bypass filters and flags we have set up.
Don't do that.
@vivid tinsel
whoops my bad just didn't want to retype it
What did you mean by milk things?????
don'tbhave a pucture right now but
the gek first spawn btw
okay thats what i thought ty
I also meant bringing up many of those topics in the first place , not only picture format 🙂
yeah i get that
(but to be fair from what i gathered from the lore i think a decent amount was true)
The initial settings for Photomode applies a 50% vignette filter. I usually set the slider to 0%. Is the current default useful to most users? I If not, I will submit a ticket to HG to set it to 0. - HD ticket submitted.
I always set it to zero. I think the overall issue is that it doesn't save your preferences, so every time you restart the game they get reset
Exactly, so if the settings can’t be saved, set the default to 0.
surely they can save the settings, just add it to the save data if nothing else
This would be ideal
Or at least holding the key creates 5 or 10 at a time.
Perhaps, but to build on this, a companion app would be nice. Something similar to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag where you could manage your trade routes and upgrade frigates from the app, which is then reflected in the game.
doubt thisll happen, ive heard this was in nms's beta but caused too much confusion on players end
It was but it needs to come back
i think it would be good if configurable perhaps
Planets rotate we know this
an astronomical motion setting that enables orbits and rotations
also make the stars real rather than just a skybox
you can travel to planets easily i should be able to get incinerated by a star too
I would love to have a tidally locked planet and either make a base that's always sunny or always night
I would love to be chilling in my base and watch a huge gas giant come over the horizon. That's one of the things that rotating planets would allow
They should have an expedition with black holes eating suns and planets...timed events& of course it's quarantined in expedition
I ASKED FOR IT, aND YA'LL DID IT. HELLO GAMEs, I FRICKING LOVE YOU
I wonder if we will have stuff like throne.
This could be really nice for my base. 🙂
So we can now archive starships that your not using on your freighter. It would be cool if we could see them in a separate hanger on our freighter kinda like a trophy room.
Rainstorms being super cold rather than super heated. It used to be this way and it makes a lot more sense
Why not both? The temperature depends on the environment; so tropical planets have superheated and more temperate planets skew towards freezing.
Unless I am missing it now, planet climate should be influenced by proximity to the system’s sun(s) and the star temperature.
Allowing us to view them in the Wonder Projector would be cool.
Few things I'd like
- Weapon wheel for multi tool maybe hold triangle to bring up the wheel
- Exosuit upgrade for sone kind of hoverboard vehicle
- Animal rework for better riding
With deep water bases, add medium range teleporters or increase the range of existing teleporters to 400 units.
The other idea is adding a repeater device inline with the teleport cable. Extends 200 u for each with a limit of 4 or 5. - HD ticket submitted
Few things i'd think would make the game more fun ;
- Being able to have more settlements, and add more kind of raids other than sentinel to it, would be cool to have it being attacked by pirates.
- Freighter Fleet battles
- Violent and deadly fauna that could attack your base and settlement, or invade your world for that purpose.
I’m onboard for 1 and 2. I’m not interested, however, in base defense.
@hazy magnet yes!!!!
Teleport updates?
That's the way Sean originally presented it working -- as well as the minerals/flora/fauna being tailored to these things -- but I guess they scrapped that once they got rid of planet orbits. Or they lost that code in the flood and didn't have time to redo it before launch. Or it was just an aspirational wish that they had to pass on to get it out the door
Aspirational is a good word for it! Thanks.
NMS screenshots can be frustrating. I feel like it doesn't properly convert the HDR colorspace for flat image exports, so darker images tend to lose dynamic range and detail and can look too flat. So sometimes I have to go into a photo editor just to bring the levels back
We gave customizeable starships, now we need more freighter types and freighter customization.
I'm talking even more freighters that you could potentially get during freighter battles, and more unique/dynamic system freighter types. Maybe even have several different freighter types that you an aqcuire per system
Why did my post get taken down
Give me freighter upgrading
I see you're waiting for a settlement update also. You and me both.
Hopefully one day.
NMS god if youre listening please... do some small UI changes like pinning more then 1 quest like maybe up to 5 the amount you can get from 1 vendor and letting me have the option to disable the map hints specifically (inventory upgrade map etc)
oh and can you allow me to press a button to cycle through pop ups for mission complete quicker so I dont have to sit for like a minute with them queued up before I get my waypoint
Kinda feel like tying climate/biome to proximity would either not be noticeable or would just really restrict what kind of biomes could generate.
I thought star color (so star temp, by proxy) did impact the biomes you see around it though (unless I'm misremembering that).
I imagine it would have been something like closer planets would use hot biomes, farther out planets might be more likely to be ice worlds. I don't think it would limit the biome types. But it definitely wouldn't be noticeable now since there's no planet orbits and no actual "distance" from the star since stars in NMS are just part of the skybox.
I only wish they could add more variations in temperature. So far, the hottest planet I have been to was 329.7 °C, and the coldest was -121 °C. They could further increase the limit to up to 500+°C or -200°C, which makes such a planet truly extreme and can produce unique resources that you can't find on other planets. Or planets with combined hazard: both extremely hot and toxic or extremely cold and radiation
If they're going to make cooking more useful, we should be able to grow heptapliod wheat, impulse beans, etc.
It would definitely be convenient. The cooking rework has basically turned it from a side distraction to one of the most powerful things you can do for your character
Not to mention the bulk donations
Would be cool to find functional freighters drifting in space in the abandoned mode and lay claim to them. Since there's no crew maintenance, they could occasionally get broken slots in the tech or inventory. Also, since there's no pilot, maybe you couldn't summon them across systems, turning it into a mobile carrier that you have to pilot yourself
I would enjoy the ability to both learn words and test our language on the aliens who come in to space stations, etc, and stay by their ships.
As well as offering effigy's etc, to them.
I really hope we get an Analysis Visor Module for ExoCrafts :'I at least for the Minotaur and/or Colossus
also I wish we had a way to really compare Ships/Weapons in a way that shows us the absolute minimum base stats of both things, without any extra modules.
Maybe I just dont get it, but comparing seems a bit useless to me if I have to uninstall all my modules first to get on a level with a new thing
No use in comparing ships stats when stats dont really mater.
D: woot
Slap whatever S modules and your ship will be OP vs npc.
On whatever ship type
Stats are mostly for flexing with big numbaz
hmmm I see, so I got a Ship with Damage Potential 99 (..really) and it does more or less the same dmg out, maybe a little lower?
cause 99 really seems low
they need to fix pet accessories
whenever i set them to none
when i relaunch it goes back to the cargo drum
We need stairs railings, for real..
True… it also rhymes!
Hit up the mods directly through the mod channel
That was yesterday
damn i didn'tv even mean that
alpine planets
gliders
ziplines and grapplers
Colour coded planet descriptor
gatling gun for the colossus
I don't know why are flying and swimming creatures still untameable naturally
We should be able to fire pellets at them
Probably for pragmatic reasons. There's no way to ride a flying creature because they never land, nor do they attack or forage
They can probably add a way to feed em from a far, like blasting them with a glock filled with pellets or smth
They will come down whether they want to or not
since the water was made hyperrealistic maybe something so water doesn't go inside exocrafts and stuff
Or maybe a new kind of portable structure that attracts flying creatures-- Like a space bird feeder.
Man I'd really love a new creature update that expands taming and what you can do with your companions.
Gimme a special saddle I can equip on my rolling critters so I can ride them around like a Wheelie from Kirby.
Or nets/traps maybe
High flyers should be able to land and walk along the ground before taking off. Maybe even particularly near mountains
Or have nests/dens
creatures need to be more dangerous, with specialized attacks and better hunting AI. I don't like the whole Pokemon vibe that HG is doing with them, it trivializes that they are wild creatures and you're a stranger in their habitat
We need an Ecology overhaul. Like biomes need to have more dramatic changes, creatures need to have more dynamic AI based on their class/type.
Creatures themselves could use some model and animation overhauls.
Referring to older models

giant lok
While we are at it add GIGAfauna
I wish to tame and build a portable base on a 90 meter crab, thank you.
Imagine if the Dinosaur-based fauna looked a lot more like dinosaurs
I would love that
Maybe get some Azdarchid-inspired high-flyers in there
Reproduction(and all its kinds even asexual), better herding and colonies, dens and houses for fauna, more varied habitats(like treetop, fauna that go to certain places at different times etc), more defensive and predatory mechanisms(Zapping, poison, spines, acid, slime, webs etc)
Using size/weight as a weapon
As someone mentioned awhile ago, I would love it if we could make proper farms
Imagine using a Strider as a horse and having a smaller dog-like creature to move your herd from one area to another
I would love it if there was some sort of animal pen that you could archive your companions into and have them roam around in it, maybe even be able to play with them
I just want actual horses lol
The robo horses are cool, but comon
not common
certainly n9t
For flyers we should have the ability to change altitude and not be kicked off when we go over water
i've been saying this for a while tbh
i would kill for an ecology update like that
Same here, I feel like it would make the planets with fauna feel more alive
fr
The Multiplayer aspect of this game is the only thing keeping it from being damn near perfect. It's still so janky and buggy. Freighters are still a huge problem when brought into a system together. There's no incentive to working towards things within a group dynamic. A few tweaks here and there would be game-changers.
NMS Pokemon battles /j
Y’all should add a ship upgrade that lets us search for specific planet characteristics in the system menu
I’ve been searching for 3 months for a floating island planet and I’m sick of it
Hundreds of systems
Please help
Look in #nms-base-building . People post bases with coords to those planets all the time
In that case...may the odds be ever in your favor

Please Sean! Can you make different color options for galaxy map? im having trouble all the time almost to recognize purple/blue/red stars with this nebula haze on galaxy map everywhere. i wish i could have blackbackground with star systems colors... Im surprised that not so many people saying about this 🙂
all the time i took red systems for purple ones cause of the lighting on different angles
its kinda tiring 😄
this aint looking like purple for example....
They need to add water sentinels
For real, I keep confusing blue and purple stars.
I wish the Dissonant tag didn't take over the Water tag too, I just wanna find a water planet easier.
i don't think thats how it works
dissonant systems will always have water
purple systems might have waterworlds
yea im looking for oceanic giant few days now, and i cant get any. i found big ocenic planet with few moons but it dont have giant in name and dont have 5 moons like gas giants, so im not sure its giant, probabbly not. it had lithium etc. but yea i want giant planet !
IM COnfusing blue and purple all the time and casually red stars too depends on angle in galaxy map, if u grinding and warpinng dissonant sysrtem it cam be a little bit frustrating over time 😄
Have they stated they are going to update the outlaw stations at all if so itd be great if they updated it
Since they are still stuck with the old space station models
Oooh.
don't think so
still waiting for station override to do something
I agree. In the meantime, look at the stellar code. If it starts with X or Y, it’s purple. For instance X8f or Y5p.
Piss system
Piss system
yea im doing that or just it writes dissonance so yea, but colors should be more vibrant
Does anybody else want the ability to have darker rooms in our bases? I already think we need more base/furnishing pieces, it'd be nice to see new building pieces that allow for darker interiors. I wanna have proper, dimly lit, control rooms in my bases!🙏
a quest where you go into the inner workings of the anomaly
Would be cool to swap between different appearances of creatures in the fauna log. Ran into one species who had a different look depending on whether it had an asymmetrical gender vs exotic.
I wish there was a planetary log that kept track of every location you landed your ship at, and could give you coordinates to return there. So often I've landed at a spot I think is great, then decide to fly around and eventually realize the spot I first landed at is the one I should have built a base at, but with no idea how to find it. Remembering to drop a beacon at every potential spot you want to remember is too much player friction, I'd like something automated that I can refer back to.
If there's one thing this games needs to focus on next it's building I swear to god.
There are so many confusing issues with it that make me wonder how anyone builds the cool stuff I often see on Twitter. I'm stuck here trying to replace stairs in a spot I had PREVIOUSLY placed them at, but for some reason now I can't?? It's so damn annoying and just really discourages me from building anything but the bare minimum for if I wanna return to a planet.
A lot of the advanced stuff is done with by exploiting glitches. There's some tutorials on Youtube. Yeah, the build system isn't great. OTOH, getting it to a point where doing advanced stuff is relatively easy would probably take up quite a bit of dev time, and I'm not sure it's worth it compared to getting more content and gameplay improvements. That's just me though.
Will they ever add actual "imminent core detonation" to a planet and make it explode? A rare supernova or planetary explosion would be cool to explore. Other types of celestial bodies, such as neutral stars, white dwarfs, nebulas
I’d love to watch a planet full-on explode from the surface of another near-by body but realistically I don’t think they can do that and still have the planet be explorable or serve a purpose beyond being eye candy.
The best way I could imagine a planet that’s true to a descriptor like that is one that’s not whole— A planet broken up into chunks of landmasses surrounding a visible core like the earth in Sonic Unleashed. It still wouldn’t explode but it’s be really cool to explore, and I’d love for this game to have more exotic terrain like that.
The ocean world currently has the subnautica vibe at deep depth, perhaps in the future add deep rock galactic vibe to cave systems?
I wish the middle of the ocean depths had more sea life or something. I explored a 1300u ocean last night and for most of the ride down it was just completely empty of anything. Maybe that's realistic to real oceans, but not necessarily interesting from a game perspective
Of all things I really wish that changes
Procedural IK based animations
The animations that exist in game as it is are pretty stiff and don't take into account the environment also
I wanna see my feet when I look down tbh
(Still wish for higher FOV options too)
This kinda goes along with my whole spiel on weather effects on the player, entities, and buildings
Black Market Living Ship Upgrades marked as different synthetic organs like during the Starbirth mission
...When I saw the multi-tool rack that allows me to archive my multi-tools, I was expecting it to display the weapons I put into it. It's real dissapointing that is doesn't, and that should be changed. :/
A new flight model should be implemented i.e. more abilities to fine control the aircraft like a flight sim but also atmospheric condition based flight conditions (gravity and weather). The flight assist override should not being a module that needs to be installed along side that more variety in what assist means and not just it prevents you from doing sick drifts
New weather in general (cloudy, light rain or light rain equivalent, fog, etc; this is especially important for paradise planets)
Or even an already shattered planet, made of just floating chunks of what's left.
Maybe an in game log you can use to manually record locations if automatic is not possible for some reason.
A dark mode ver of the warp screen would be great. My eyes hurt playing in the evening
I would like another loading screen between warp, imagine something like interstellar when they go inside the wormhole
Give the option to craft x numbers of material instead of clicking them all the time
That's already in the game
When crafting an item you can set how many pieces will be crafted in a single action
Read through the crafting tooltip
Rock and Stone!
also custom message in bottles would be great
Hey dear NMS team, I really love all the work you've done so far, but what's been keeping me away from the game for a while is only the fact that the multiplayer building part is still not fully supported. Do you intend to try to find a solution at some point? Thx ❤️
Hi, this is a channel for community discussion about future updates
It would be best to send suggestions via their zendesk
!Hg
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Hi, I can yes, but I don't know why you say it's only for updates here 🤔
"Serious discussion of the past & future of No Man Sky: What do you want to see next"
@rotund stratus
Can NMS add full customization to ships? Edit the paint, add other parts... to make our own design, not just at creation... also be able to edit purchased or already created ships
in the future, of course
All future stuff is updates 🙂
So... 😉
I’m not nicodemus but one thing I think this game will benefit from is a combat update. Maybe more weapons and perhaps melee dedicated weapons and some more enemies beside the sentinels and wild life. What do you guys think
Don't know why you mentioned me here, but ok ^^
oh for the chan's description ok 😉
Definitely interested in space swords and space axes.
Being able to be overseer of multiple settlements please!!
Space axe would be really cool actually
Does they team behind nms ever plan on adding a living freighter to complete the trio? Or is this something they'll never add
they don't tell us anything, so who knows
I would put that more on the side of "doubtful" though, because they would have to design a completely new interior for it to give it that organic ship look
Does anyone know if switch is going to be multiplayer?
Likely not, as Nintendo is very annoying about cross play
The Switch port is over two years old. Likely not.
Praying they do an update that has better building in it
I can't believe the placement bug still seems to be an issue.
They've done combat updates
They cannot make combat better without nerfing us or giving us stupidly bullet spongey enemies
Combat updates will always get a 👎 from me
How come if you don’t mind me asking
Ok I see, but what if they add more enemies or maybe some love to the melee scene
Wacking something with the staff would be cool no?
There's a myriad of other games who let you shoot, stab and kill things to your hearts content already. You can play those if you want violence. NMS is inhabiting a niche I really love for existing, and I don't see at all why a philosophical space game focused on exploration would need more boom and slash.
Very valid I see your point but it’s not like the game shys away from combat tho it’s one of the first things you’re introduced to. Although there are other games that let you shoot kill yadda yadda there’s no say nms can’t add their own flair to it don’t you think.
I think it would be neat and would help expand the audience a bit
Combat was always a major tentpole from the beginning, it's as integral to the game as exploration, trading, and survival
Have you tried not killing things for a change? To just enjoy the literal universe you are given to explore, adore and colonise (sort of)?
add three more character customization save slots.
Bs. If there was no more combat, I wouldn't miss a thing.
Ofc to the fullest and I love the game it does what it does perfectly I just wish combat had a bit more meat on the bone
