#nms-the-future

Probably never
Settlements should be built bigger instead of having a maximum number of 29 buildings. There is a wide area of flat land surrounding a settlement I feel like the limit should be when you completely fill the flat land
Likely not. NMS on Switch is already almost a year and a half old now. If they haven't looked into it now, it's increasingly unlikely they will.
The only thing HG ever officially said about Switch and multiplayer was that they'd "look into it" if they got enough players requesting it. That was shortly after launch. No word about it since.
Also, it's equally as likely it's a Nintendo issue preventing it.
(My speculation is that they already looked into it a while ago and it wasn't doable for whatever reason. So they programmed the offline Nexus for us instead)
Anybody want the inventory icon assets overhaul.
I would love to never have this happen again. (note it happens quite a bit, as in multiple different times) Such BS two of my multitools disappear, and of course with autosave there is nothing that can be done about it.
Hello, I enjoy simply wandering around in games without having to do much else. I like to play with the Fuel Usage, Crafting, Purchases options set to Free, but I find it disappointing that this style of play can make the game feel quite loose. I wish that as I travel around the planets, I could discover many new things to explore through procedural generation. I must mention that I'm not fluent in English, so I used ChatGPT to help translate this message. Sorry for any inconvenience.
I think that’s what Light No Fire is going to be about.
More inventory space would be nice, some extra storage containers, S+ frigates for extra storage. S+ ships as well more creature variants and new enemies and creatures would be nice.
Something I’ve been working on
me want freighter yard
thatd be really cool
"ship graveyards" in space in general
maybe a derelict pirate dreadnought with ships floating around it
and the explore quest
"a failed fight"
Very nice! Seems very well thought out. I appreciate the suggestion not just being a wall of text and actually being well formatted
Thanks
Do you have any suggestions for the items for freighter upgrades?
Maybe starship salvage materials
Or maybe I just entirely misinterpreted your question
reminds me of magnetic rose
i would love a way for me to compare the stats of my ships and multitools with or without any modifications as an overview of all of them at once so i can compare the base ship stats and know whats best to use!
I guess HG could do something like for the squadron screen
Couple of ship slots and a list of basic stats
yep! thats exactly what i was thinking. the UI already exists to pull up a menu, just needs a new entry and a submenu. the stats exist in the savegame file already, too, so it wouldnt be more than some UI work
I just want to be able to hire my own freighter crew, with procedural crew stats that affect freighter stats the same way squadron members work. Navigation, Weapons, Shields, Cargo, Sensors. I want my crew to be more personalized rather than random NPCs.
Extra good if the game generated procedural backstories for each one
I'd like the option for a more diverse crew, honestly.
Diverse in what way? Rather than all being a single race?
Give them funny hats
I want my crew to remain consistent, instead of cycling with each warp
I'll accept that compromise.
I want to walk into the NipNip farm and say “ah, Crewman [insert name] got caught in the floor again, silly guy” and not “dammit, that random asshole got eaten by the floor”
I like the authenticed starship seal but I hope it gets a graphic at some point? Kinda feels like it's coming at some point anyway because the current version is very basic
Also not gonna pretend like I know how the ship interiors are generated whether that be a 3D object over the camera or physically an interior but would be really cool to see choice between cockpits interiors added to the ship creation (I suppose we can choose this already to an extent but not sure how the cockpit is generated when creating a ship, either it being locked to the actual cockpit or generated from a pool)
Anyone can give me S tier Freighter upgrades?
not sure if everyone will like this idea but, the ability to sell/trade your ships w other people in the space anomaly . it Has more meaning now that players can build ships
for player built ships it could say smth like "Ship built by user + title" where the prefabricated seal usually is
I'd love to see support for low orbit space stations
Maybe like a deployable anchor point that's like a combination of a Landing platform and base computer to build from
Would love a proper in game trading system tbf
ya !!
To be honest, I think another update should add buildable space stations/bases. Kind of like the ones on planets but different parts
it would be good if they finally removed many useless things from NMS, such as, for example, the stellar extractor... offline it does not work, when you teleport from the system and back, it is reset, when you call a freighter, it is reset... it only works when you are online, standing and waiting next to it... it’s not clear why it is needed in this case... you can also remove a completely useless autonomous mining unit, and some others... this all just clutters the interface 😐
The stellar extractor should work offline
It bugs out in most cases when placed adjacent to other units like refiner room
Aparently it works fine as standalone
As for AMUs, while obsolete late game it can be still used by new players
Easier to unlock and get running compared to a proper mineral extractor farm
I would like to see HG getting to properly fix either of those
Instead of straight up yeeting them out, which could lead to potential issues
It’s much easier, even for a beginner, to simply mine ore with a multitool, because AMU also depletes deposits... and besides, it’s much faster with a multitool
...thanks about the star extractors, I’ll test it...although it’s not entirely clear how and where to put it so that it would be considered as standalone...now I have them next to the cargo container room...in any case, it's a rather unpleasant bug
There's already three base building types (planet bases, settlements, freighters)
I'm both hoping and betting the next overhauled area of this game is creature generation. That's one area I don't think HG has ever touched, and it CERTAINLY needs modernization. None of the creatures are hairy, none are slimy, none have fins or scales besides fish, almost everything is bilaterally symmetrical and bi- or quadrupedal. Yes, there have been a few types added here and there, but it's really the last area untouched, and it's overdue for an update. I think Sean Murry needs to tweet out a "Fangs" emoji next.
yes but, they did touch it and made countless species go extinct, also I've found some six legged animals.
Rex, I didn't say ALL animals are ONLY 2 or 4 legged. I have a millipede pet.
sometimes it feels like my eyes skip words...
Some animals have fur
the fur could use a revamp for sure. that’s one thing i was hoping for, then they added it and I guess it works in some ways.
fauna did get minor improvements, and while we did get a wide variety of new creatures, it could still use a significant update
Also there's several types of animals that don't even have legs
What I want is mega fauna
I feel like fur should be more common on the cold planets
the way the large fauna were animated in the original trailer made them look more grand and feel much larger. They could use animation improvements and such
HG could introduce different fur types for more variety
length/density/texture
imagine a blob with thick wool
hopefully one day we can buy as many modules we want instead of buying 1 then reloading the save then repeating
replace the old appearance modifier with the new one
It would've been cool if we could control/fly our capital freighters. Even if it would've been a not so sought after feature, it still would've been cool.
i think its pretty sought after, seen many suggest it over time
I realize everything has a life span and can't be updated forever (except world of Warcraft which keeps getting new content but is already so far past it's prime nobody cares) and HG has been consistent with content up until even recently despite being in active development on a new game (that I just learned about today). But what's the current consensus on what's going to happen to NMS when light no fire drops? Has HG made any statements about the future of NMS and if they plan to keep plugging away at it in tandem with the new game or is it going to get backburnered?
HG doesn't share any info about whatsoever
So your guess is as good as ours
My theory is that they will eventually phase out delivering new content to the game
But keep supporting it because 1) that's what made their reputation in all these years and
- we assume that LNF will use a similar (if not the same) engine as NMS so if they have to support 1 new product on the shared codebase, why not support 2 of them
Well yea there's likely going to be a lot of reused tech. The video I just watched it literally just looks like an up to date NMS. Graphically. But I'm thinking new features and overhauls and things like that. Honestly NMS still has a lot of potential growth imo.
Planetary biomes, new ship types, improved UI (like proper ship stats showing), new mission content and races to interact with, etc.
I suppose lnf will grant a lot of that and I'll likely play it but the big sell on nms for me is the "space cadet" atmosphere. I've seen enough dragons and claymores in my lifetime in other games. NMS made survival unique.
Imagine... The dragon creation system. Frankensteining a winged abomination 🤣 I'll pay to see that. No question
As a mod author I would like to see them releasing some proper tools for us to keep tinkering with the game
But the assumption of using the same engine makes it less of a possibility
Yea there's that too. Mods have kept Skyrim out of the grave for what feels like eternity
They might want to keep the secret sauce close to them
Yea. I wouldn't expect full open source
So willy nilly sharing stuff for a handful of willing NMS players might not be in question due to potential concerns about LNF
Mods have kept Skyrim afloat over Starfield, that says enough
I've not played it but I've also not heard a single person not echoing that it's just shit
Maybe an integrated mod support here would be possible
And from what I've seen in videos it looks uninspired
Even with all the limitations provided by console manufacturers
I mean PC modding hasn't impacted Skyrim despite its console nature
What mods have you made for nms?
I had 2 installed and they worked fine. Purely graphical tweaks. But after like 30 hours I started having a lot of stuttering so I reinstalled the game and decided to remove them cuz idk if they caused it or not. But I'd like to do something stable with the game
It looks great vanilla but it could certainly look 'better' (more realistic)
This is more for #nms-modding so I'll drop the link there
I believe I heard people talk of Sean saying he would like to keep updating NMS for the next ten years
Just let me transfer my account to the Switch's successor, is all I ask...
When do you think the next title update will be? Next update? One after? This year? Next year? Never (lol)?
Calm down, it hasn't been a month since Orbital
its 2024........unless he's extremely ambitious enough, we have 3 years, including this year, more of update left.
Hear me out on this... They should add another ship class way in the future that are basically the "Rolls Royce" of ships. Veeeeeeeery expensive (About 100Mill+ minimum), super rare, and highly luxurious. I'm not counting Exotic, or squid ships. Make these new ships have slim or sharp futuristic designs. Is this a cool idea or no? lol 😅
Lemme guess, something like the cutter from Elite Dangerous? 🤣
terrible idea but if you want such a design, then we already have that. Look up solar ships.
Long ago when ship types had bigger role in game exotic was just that. Space rolls royce, rare, expensive.
What about solar ships? They seem to be the rolls royce of this game just from their comical rarity of being borderline impossible to find.
They are in every outlaw system. And cheap to.
BRUH! Seriously?? I saw youtube comment section lamenting about having a very difficult time to find them. Sounds like they were pre outlaw update?
Yes. And solars where introduced in outlaw update 3.85.
i see.
It would be cool if we could create our own zoo with stalls and habitats to hold different species we've found
Doesn't seem like a big ask since we have companions
I mean, if you're fine with holographic animals, then you kinda can build one
Using the Wonder Projector
Yeah that's true, but having them actually there would be dope
Like you make the stall have the same habitat as their home planet
So creatures from ice worlds would need dioxite to make
Hii
Hey guys, what is your favorite planet generation? Origins or pathfinder?
In my memory I remembered pathfinder being better but I downloaded it recently and didn't like that much
The biomes were more prettier but I think we have more colours for some biome types now than before, like paradise planets
I remember that a few years ago I saw a leak about a second universe like the void or something like that
Do you guys think that they will eventually add a new universe or make a universal reset?
They are making a new game called Light No Fire.
I know, the new game looks a lot like NMS but with a different Proc Generation, maybe they will update the game to look more like LNF in the future?
LNF has a lot of dense forests in the trailers, maybe they can do that with NMS
Imagine the ability to own multiple settlements in NMS. It would bring in people who like managing things, and maybe even RTS enjoyers since they could own and conquer entire systems by owning cities across them. Then, let people give others settlements so that battles for settlements could be organized
Atlas Rises had the most color variation, I believe. Also had a lot of wild multicolor grass. But its terrain and biome generation had some issues... it had a bad "small trees" problem they never fixed.
I don't expect them to ever do a terrain reset for NMS at this point, unless they do some kind of huge "NMS 2" update that merges the Light No Fire engine changes into NMS
Yeah atlas rises had more colours, after that I think that is origins that have more colours and them pathfinder.
Eclipses would be cool imo
I've been playing a new console game recently that got a lot of negative points in reviews for having outdated graphics, and yet...it still has much better water than No Man's Sky does. It's something that has consistently not looked great in NMS since the beginning, and subjectively it could be said that water got even worse over time (post-NEXT). If there's one graphical thing I'd love HG to improve on, it's the water. Why in 2024 can't we have a decent water shader that has some semblance of rolling waves, and doesn't look like fluorescent toothpaste at night?
which game?
Yeah water is the most disgusting thing in the game right now, everything else looks great
Another thing I don't like much is the frozen planets colour variety, I kinda think variety is on pair with what we had before pre-next on other planet types but frozen planets are absolutely bad regarding variation unfortunately
The new guilds are amazing, but I would suggest that guilds shouldn't offer (or take in) the same materials they give away for free.
Or u pay with rep for items. So when u take and give back item, the rep balance stays the same
yeah!
!hg
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I think everything will get an overhaul - they kinda backed themselves into that corner with the new stations
They are strikingly better than anything else
I would love to see a refresh on the multi tool parts as well
Say goodbye to Borderlands looking 1 dimenional rifles
I’m not a huge fan of the layout, I also wish they didn’t randomize landings. if a spot is open closest to where everything is, I want that spot.
It looks better than everything else, graphically
oh yeah for sure
lighting, details everything looks great
I wonder how hard it would be for the devs to implement elevators, like for bases
Yeah I agree
The old space stations were really ugly and uninspired
They were always blue
Always the same with only small changes on chairs and things like that
At least now they vary in colour, which is enough for space stations
I just hope they add some actual rooms on the new stations, with windows to gaze out into space as the old stations have. and maybe a better bar experience to really get more of that Star Wars cantina vibe. graphically the new stations are amazing, but they feel somewhat less charming because it's just one giant open area. feels like an airport
I think it makes sense to be a airport or a mall, but I would like to have a few more rooms too
A bar would be nice
I think the bar touches on something I always wish was a bigger thing in NMS -- player interactions with NPCs. The space stations are good at providing utilitarian needs like interacting with vendors, other ships, etc. But there's very few opportunities for emotional beats to happen, outside of running into a Traveller with a sad story. I would love for HG to give NPCs procedural backstories and individual goals, and allow you to form friendships or business relationships with them. It doesn't have to be super deep because I know that would be quite a bit of work for the team, but I think that would make the universe feel a lot more alive, and making each star system feel more unique.
Food stand with Gek burgers
Every gas station has some kind of fast food and coffeine drinks, I expect space stations to have them as well
Do you guys think the free updates will end when LNF launches?
No, I don't see any hints that they want to do that in the near term. The main factor on whether they can continue to provide free updates is whether they can still find new platforms to put NMS on, as that creates the biggest revenue jumps, and sales revenue is how they can continue to underwrite the ongoing dev costs. And there aren't many platforms left for NMS to be on. iOS and Android are probably the biggest ones that don't yet have NMS.
What’s this talk of the end of 2024 prolly being the last big update for no man’s, granted just rumors/here say but anybody else heard of No man’s future
A game called Light no fire might be the focus
Haven't heard anyone saying that at all until now
And it's a separate team on LNF
Also, they have been working on LNF for the last 5 years - so it clearly hasn't affected NMS updates so far
That said, everything comes to an end - but I doubt it's this year
@hot flame there really isn’t another game IMO that comes close to NMS, but Ive had the game since release played it one time gave up came back in the end of 2023 no I’m playing with a passion but it seems ive missed so much and now with twitter YouTube and some Reddit talk with NMS is about to slow down with content which confuses me bc some major game changing updates weren’t added til real late in the game
Not tryna spread no rumors I just love the game would love to see keep thriving
Based on their actions I'd be willing to bet we have years yet
Hope so ✊
Minor thing but I took the "Niche in the Stars" mission on the Nexus, and it's asking me to use 3 specific decoratives. However, when I fly back to the anomaly to buy them, the list is replaced with "Return to habitable planet." Makes it slightly more tedious to do since I need to write down the 3 parts it wants me to use.
Oh, and I just teleported to the base I had made, wasn't paying attention and apparently abandoned the quest. Being able to teleport to the base that you're asking me to construct seems like it should be allowed in this case.
yeah, I certainly don't think they'd put in a bunch of effort to redesign the stations if they planned to end updates this year
vending machines would be kinda cool
They'll likely do a port for the Switch's successor.
they could work on port related to the steam deck?
unless i'm dumb and uninformed that it already runs on steam deck
nvm i'm dumb.
hopefully at that point they'll finally cut off PS4 and last-gen Xbox and the original Switch, and be able to add features to NMS that may require too much CPU/GPU for the old consoles
😭 noooooooooo
I think that will happen when those platforms stop updating and supporting the old gen, but not before
how long do you guys think updates will go on for (I think at least 3 or 4 years)
And Nintendo supports their previous gens for a while. They just cut online off for the 3DS this month.
wow... this is news to me. incredible that it was still active
Do you guys think we will have a water update this year? It's been years since the water is bugged
The update I most want right now is a water update
Most wanted thing rn imo is finishing lose ends in story, ARG, lore and end game mechanics. After that is more diversity in general . Biomes, flora&fauna, buildings, etc.etc.
We're still waiting on part 4 of the Interceptor/Echos storyline. Let's get that first. 😛
Also, catalog overhaul, plz.
Lore logs and word catalouge lag hard on ps4 when u open them. U get like 5 fps Which is wierd because its mostly txt.
Switch is the same. Though I would place a good bet on our lag being worse.
But the tech catalog section is still bugged all over the place. The freighter tech being the most glaring.
Do you guys prefer the old terrain? I see a lot of people saying that before NEXT the terrain was better but I kinda like the terrain more now than before, the old terrain generation maybe was more varied but I think it looks way better and prettier now, I played a lot of the old NMS and I really didn't liked much the terrain at the time, I remember a lot people complained about it too even before NEXT and Atlas Rises
Do you guys would like if the old generation for terrain was re-introduce into the game or do you all prefer terrain as it is right now?
I think there is room for both - I've enjoyed all iterations of the terrain
you mean the story isnt finished yet??
Will gas giants be added
Low-key even if we can’t land on gas giants what about the moons then they would look so pretty and even if you couldn’t see in the lower layers you could still see the life in the top layers and build cloud cities and harvest the gas
I’d love to see a water moon of a rainbow gas giant
I don't think Gas Giants would be good from a gameplay perspective, they would just turn some planets useless because we wouldn't be able to land on them
Adding poses and character effects like the invisibility secondary to photo mode would be amazing. Kind of a hot take, but It would be cool to have drop prods for freighters along with a teleportation device that brings you back after your mission. I think the first suggestion would be viable, but the second one could be shot down. It's whatever the devs want and I respect that
Honestly I think the devs should focus on this and wait to focus on silly fantasy update suggestions like mine and many others.
They should focus on fixing bugs too, like the waterline/texture bug
i want dense planets like the quadrants of a planet should have different generation packets o and rivers
Dude, something liuke the Pelican from HAlo to lift and drop the exocraft would be fun
Does anybody here remembers the leaks about a second universe inside the void? A lot of stuff that they said has come true, the new enemy race (corrupted sentinels) new npc race (autophages) the cities (settlement) and the new space station and multitools
Maybe that leak was indeed real, so there is a small possibility of a new universe in the future (a parallel universe to ours with different proc-gen and new possibilities of worlds)
NMS is great fun though true multiplayer would be the big addition we'll most likely never see. So, I prefer Star Citizen in that aspect. Lots of shenanigans being had there. 🙂
i want frigate customization and piloting
I think they could be somewhat useful, if you could say deploy portable landing platforms from your ship that could be used as foundation
And the atmosphere would have plenty of rare new resources
And you could get around with some kind of flying exocraft/your ship
And maybe, since gas giants are cold in real life, there could be patches of frozen clouds you could land on
That would be interesting
I had an idea to make theses gas giantess have procedural cities across the planets, or sometype of factories that we could land on, like the derelict freighters
There should be procedural cities everywhere
Abandoned atmosphere resource harvesting facility thingies would be cool
Would be cool, maybe not every planet but maybe a more developed area with multiple surrounding planets decked out with cities. Could be a hub for people to go to, trade with a larger range of items to buy, especially expeditions, etc
Mandalorian type ish
they could add new system types
or habitation levels for systems
abandoned normal and urban
where urban ones have all the cities
I just want the fuckin capes fixed and the game to work !
the game to actually work? not in a million years bro
I would love to move on to another space game but there aren't any as good as buggy no man's sky
yh same i want the freedom of no mans sky but the looks of starfield
Fr ...I might skip light no fire just cuz hello games is behind it I don't think I want to put up with there team ever again
im not against hello games cuz theyre actively improving the game its just that it was broken from the beginning
lots of things are getting fixed tho
but gradually
i just want some realism but thats not really what no mans sky is trying to be
Yeah I understand that but idk man it's been nearly 10 years and they can't seem to get it right
get what right? the game's scope is massively expanded from the original vision
they move fast with a small team. unfortunately that means bugs get introduced. but they do eventually fix most of them. but it also means they can keep all the updates free
exactly
its about as good as it gets
👍
bruh
i have like 350 hours on my most played game
Mostly base building but for what ...so many times I've tried to show off my bases it's a hit or miss
i build dune buggies and motorcycles and guns and stuff but no one gives a crap lol
the game is good for building but not great for recognition
especially since the community is pretty small
Bro I'm down I def Wana see
bet ill dm
I have 1k hours and what I like to do the most is explore planets, finding planets of vibrantes colours and all that
I like to complete the scans of planet too, fauna, flora
The most time I spent in base building was when the freighter interior update realeased I have a giant base in my freighter
I even builded thematic rooms in my freighter for Halloween and Christmas
I would like them to focus more on planets, making them more varied
I feel like this is the best version of nms in regard of planet variety and planet variation, but I prefer the old art-style
But I also think they can make something better
They should focus on exploration updates and fix the water
Agreed
Same i prefer the old poster like style of the game it was very unique
Now it doesnt really have one its just very bright colorful space stuff
Cocomelon sci fi
Yeah overly saturated and not at all stylized
Like this pre release screenshot
Even the soundtrack doesnt even fit in at times
And this one too
Its more like a poster yk
Actually fits the game
This just doesnt hit the same
Yeah the old art-style was better but also you took an horrible photo from today's NMS
There are still some good planets
I have pictures from some nice planets but I don't know why I can't send it here
I will send it into the photo mode chat if you wanna see it
I send it there if you wanna see it
But yeah the old art-style is better
They changed because the original NMS artist/designer left the team
Is that a pre-built structure?
Oh, prerelease, I didn't read lol
more neon signs and an update on displays for like base decorations!!
its a shame really
it still looks good now if you find the right planets but really it looks kinda bland
I have a strong feeling future expedition rewards will include unique starship parts. And hopefully it'll be a way for HG to test to see how adding new parts to ships will affect stuff in case they plan to add new variation to existing ship types.
I hope for || world of glass || raids to get new living ship parts or weapons somehow.
Yeah the new art-style is kinda bland, if we could have the colour variation and planet generation of today's nms but with the old art-style it would be perfect
It would be cool if we could fight the first spawn
At this point, when we even have a ship builder, i think it's a highest time to double the maximum allowed ship ownership, Hello Games 😉
and some fleet on fleet combat action please
Yea, actually we need to have more space for ships. 9 isn’t enough. I used to think 9 was a lot but you come across some nice designs and even though I don’t use them I feel like I don’t wanna let go of them.
FYI we have 12 ship slots right now
Ooh, I didn’t even realise 😀
Data-miners found some interesting things in the files
Apparently there are new water textures in the files, a lasersorwd type of weapon/multitool, new monkey and chicken skins (maybe new creature type?) in the files
I hope the water update comes soon
Water has been neglected for years, so maybe it will be the summer update this year or the next small update?

Please don't take anything this guy says seriously
There were no new files related to anything new for this update, just files related to fixes on the new space stations
We modders have tools that let us create a difference report between files of various game versions
And there's nothing to speculate on for 4.65
The LASERSWORD.DDS texture (or at least mentions of it) were present in the game at least since Origins 3.0
I knew it was cynical channel before i clicked the link xD
Yeah. Like FriendlyFire said dont trust this guy on anything he says.
100% they were not pushed with 4.65
This is a difference report between 4.64 and 4.65, hit Ctrl+F to get to New Files section and check for yourself, not that many new files
All credits for providing that go to @mild laurel
....All credit for the ability to generate the report goes to @potent trout . Really everything for reports and tooling is very much a team effort of the core NMS modding group. Everyone chips in and helps in their own way to keep things moving, including @vast wave 🙂
monkey update 💀
i rly just want more immersion
everything in nms is still and frozen in time
nothing happens on its own unless u initiate it
That's core to the game and engine design. Nothing modding can do to change that, would need to come from HG.
yeah, i know
i hope they do change it at some point though
even with all the npcs the universe just feels lonely and repetetive
If you want lonely, try this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/2267 lol
Same situation on steroids.
thats the opposite of what i want them to do lol
I know, hehe
There is a mod to increase numbers of NPCs in your freighter base. They won't do anything different, just more of them, wandering about.
This is "datamined" astronaut.
If YouTubers are dataminers then I am actual cannibal Shia LaBeouf
He's been in there since 1.0 I'm pretty sure. He had a laser sword.
Next they gonna tell you Scaleman is a distant cousin of Astronaut and they are actually in cahoots to bring down the Hovas
Now if you could replace that wheel with an exocraft wheel.....
P sure that's a shield
I'm thinking put a wheel there and ride it like hobo exocraft
Prolly shouldn't've said that now the dataminers are gonna say next update will have shields
Even tho we already have one
dAtA mInErZ!!!
The YouTuber didn't find the files, he said it was another person but he didn't say who
Yeah but the companions update and a lot of other's update like the freighter update was datamined in the past
If anything's datamined you'd see it in #nms-spoilers first more than anywhere else
Because that's where we'd put em
And my/bomberboi's twitter, I guess
If you flip a coin 895,000 times, it might eventually land on it's side
If it is on the files it's more probably to become true then a random theory
But yeah this "datamined" mentioned in the video is fake
The files were already there for years
The guy is just clickbaiting
well yeah, but you have to know more than a file name
If just looking through a file list, you don't know....anything but the file list.
Well the YouTuber said that the guy found a lot of stuff related to the water
The same thing happened with the companions update
I just hope they fix water, to be honest is the only thing I want now
If we get more things is just a bonus for me
Are you on PC?
Water has been broken for years
Xbox unfortunately
If I played on PC I would have already installed a water mod
Ahh yeah a modder did it pretty good.
Sent a pic of it ...and a pic of vanilla water to HG labeled:
Yours:
Ours:

I'm sure his guy is also from his dreams
I don't know what water files they are talking about, but there has been unused water stuff all over the place for years. Nothing new unless it was in the 4.65 update, which I'm 99.9% sure no.
I posted the diff report earlier on
Only shaders and files related to new space stations
Did you guys watched the LNF trailer?
Water looks very good
At least compared to what we have now
anyone know when the next expedition will be come?
you think this kind of imitates what the old art style was supposed to be?
I think yes
The old art-style was more like a paint
It looked more like art instead of just a game
The graphics and textures and lighting need some work
They need even more work
And some soul
I hope they improve multiplayer. We need more to do in multiplayer mode, also number of players increased, number of player made buildings generating should be increased
Base part limit and upload limit needs to increase too😫
I just want my minotaur ai to actually mine stuff lol
I hope we will get a nature update that will upgrade animals, like.... give em more life. Also more planetary content. For example imagine fishes jumping from the sky, diplos eating leaves from trees, deer-likes running in groups...
Starship technology update: Landing on water
Rivers, waterfalls
Water mills etc.
Also, some planets could be only gas planets ( i know it is useless, but more "realistic" )
Add on some comets
I'd also prefer a setting like "disable sound in space" since, there are no sounds out there. This could also make the game more "boring", but also more "realisic" imo. So thats why I'd make this an option to chose this in the settings.
Option to remove visual effects while pulse drive (this would be legendary)
Two things I’d like - 1. Creative Mode gets access to all Ship Parts for the Fabricator. and 2. Settlement and/or base defence systems.
getting bombed by pirate ships with no other option than to jump into my own ship is a wee bit irritating!
At least gimme an AA gun
That’s a really common request, the issue is that every system is limited to something like 7 planets (maybe more, I’m not too sure), and gas planets might replace planets with preexisting bases. They’d be cool, but they just wouldn’t fit in any way with the current planet system
Understandable. What about the rest ideas?
Meteors are a thing, but space bound comets would also be fun
Comets already exist in the game but they are rare
basically make everything more alive
they should add random things happening in the background too
If HG ever adds water biome update and planets/moons rotation maybe they will add moon tides.
I mainly just want the NPCs to be more alive. Currently they’re essentially just walking dialogue boxes
That too
Everything needs more life
And better animations
Actually, the NPCs have a really wide variety of animations, the issue is that it’s usually not the ones in stations
They have lots of them but they feel quite static and inanimate
an update to make the universe feel more lived-in would be nice. Besides maybe settlements, space stations dont have housing, restaurants, or anything for leisure. Where are all these huge populations of npcs living? It would definitely, imo, make the vibe of the nms universe feel better and a bit more immersive. They could add that kind of stuff as part of the space stations' natural generation, such as adding living quarters on the sides of the interior and maybe some food stands or something where the things like benches or server racks can spawn, where you could buy one or two simple foods. npcs eating there, an npc working there, stuff like that. just, stuff to make it feel like the universe doesn't revolve around us.. despite the fact that it does. I like that vibe.
They should create bearer bonds or something that you can purchase for like 100 million+ so that we can stash those away and still accrue units and avoid that 4.2 billion cap.
soo... what info do we have bout next update?
We pretty much never get info on the next update. HG always keeps fairly quiet.
We can only speculate on update date and its content.
Is it me or is chat function not that good in no man’s sky? I mean I use a steam deck but I can barely use it
Same with ps4
An update I would be interested in would be pvp compatibility. Would love to be able to shoot npcs and players with my guns
i think you can already shoot other players. you can in space at least. and theres a setting to turn on n off pvp
yes, it works in space and on planets.
It does in your ship, but not on foot. Would love to raid a building and/or assasinate someone as a hitman mission.
that does sound cool
you can shoot and kill people if they have pvp enabled. this has lead to new players who haven't turned pvp off being trolled as other players in spaceships kill the walking player.
i think a companion app, like the ones destiny or warframe have would be cool
I want this just because I find holding money in items instead of as some number is cool to me
For a team that is super creative, I always feel like they add updates too slow or add really creative things but fail on game design everytime.
I only point these things out because NMS close competitors (Starbound, Terraria, Minecraft) all excel at the things mentioned, after 8 years, it's almost weird now.
Also, how is there not a SINGLE boss enemy in the game? c'mon man, even minecraft has that.
how am I just now realizing this
only things that you could "argue" for a boss would be any freighters, and that's only because of the giant healthbar
at first I thought I wanted things like cities to be added, but the more I think about it I believe new aggressive creatures/monsters would really do the game justice
I'm hoping that the next update expands on the combat, I'd love to see different monstrosities and creatures that actually feel like threats
Also need more things to do in multiplayer, I’ve been playing for over a year now and never even done anything in multiplayer.
you guys got multi-player to work?
Prolly because multiplayer is only to mess around with your friends. The game's true purpose and core must be the singleplayer aspect. Kind of like genshin.
would've been cool if we had a transformer exocraft or a Star trek crossover with an Enterprise Freighter.
I'd love to see HG bring the swaying trees from Light No Fire over to the NMS engine. sometimes those small things really help sell an environment
Só what Will be The future of no man sky ? They are giving only cosmétics updates for like 2 years now ... I wonder if they Will keep doing it , or if they Will improve The Core game with loot
Because light no fire seams to have some progression elements... In NMS all is available on The Nexus , you just need to get salvage tecnólogy ( wich is borinh and easy to get ), or nanites
cross progression between system types would be cool
like bring my ps character to a pc or my xbox
Also Nintendo Switch cross-play and cross-save; also didn’t HG say that an iPad version was coming along with a Mac version? I’d love to traverse the stars on my iPad too
I’d love to see the terrain and biome variation come to NMS. It would be cool to have planets to have 2 or 3 distinct biomes
I think unfortunately that would require a universe terrain reset, and Sean basically said they're not going to do that anymore in NMS because people with bases would get too upset
You haven't been paying attention then
Combat updates, mission updates, item updates, added new ships etc etc
Not just cosmetic friend
its you again
first of all, Check the updates patch notes and stuff
and then start complaining
They could do it to undiscovered plane and systems, ect
Undiscovered by any game mode, and only a mere 0.0001% of the entirety of no mans sky and its planets have yet to be explored
Surely they have trackers to know what planet was discovered by players already
The universe is procedurally generated, the systems don't exist in a database. So theoretically maybe they did set that up, but I doubt it. The amount of total star systems must number in the billions, so that would still require a very hefty database. AFAIK they only record the status of systems that players have been to.
Theoretically, perhaps the game client could check the server when warping to a system to see if it's been visited or not, and then set the Use Version 4.54 Terrain Algorithms flag on the server for future visitors. Though in offline mode that would be out of sync of course.
From a QA perspective I'm not sure they would be excited to maintain multiple terrain algorithms in the game, because then when they change AI and such they would have to test multiple times
I know it's probably been said a thousand times, but I'd love to see some cities in the game
I love how the game has been jumping bit by bit, but I'd love to see some space ports, mini cities etc.
Like some outposts but 10x the size, trade points but surrounded by buildings,
Mini sky scrapers and so on
Part of me wonders if that's why we can build our own bases and visit other. Like inspiration for an update down the line 😁
New ships are cosmétics , because they all do The same . The combat was improved but not good enough... The Core game should be improved instead of having everything easily on Nexus with nanites or units
sadly not happenin, its because well uhh look at settlements, they do be lagging like alot
and.... imagine a city 💀
if u have a good idea on how to upgrade "progression" of NMS then tell me, ima listen :))
im actually curious because ngl, you got the point
i want some game changing stuff actually hard to get
Do you know subnautica ? Thats One example
Imagine , to get blueprint A you need to get materials that only drops on certain star systems / planets , killing creature bosses , looting
This is not hard to implement. NMS has lots of "places" to put specific materials / rewards
They just needed to redirected the how you get blueprints. Instead of having it easy on The Nexus , just to explore and find out where things are for your self , across The Galaxy .
Everything is easy to obtain in Nexus... Your visor its an other thing , it tells you where everyting is... It should be some tech módules you had to install to find specific materials ...
Its Simple , do like a " skill tree " for everyting , but instead of a skills do it for materials , and place Them arround The Galaxy on specific locstions
Ships should be changed as well.. for example solar ships should have free fuel , instead of a módule already installed.. make every type of ship unique..
Fighers for fight .. etc ...The land vehicles The same... They all do The same and its wrong. Exomech should Run instead of walk , full protection and 0 cargo slots .The colossal with many cargo slots and protection slots since it is slower
And those protection slots should be hard to get
Not gonna lie, i think getting blueprints from buildings/npcs would be better, and the more dangerous planet is the better stuff u get
Imagine to have to do 10 steps in that " skills tree " to get One módule... Things like this would make a diference
Exactly , you are getting there
Also make every exosuit unique, not just minotaur and the submarine
I guess nomad can hover on water but thats it
Also ngl we need more expensive stuff
Totaly agree on that
And like imagine an S tier module needs a blueprint, rare materials and overall something else thats not easy to get and make
Exactly
It sounds grindy but imo it would just improve the progression
Grindy is the way... This was suposed to BE a exploring game at launch .this is The way
Do u know the material skill tree? We need those materials on upgrades, not just basic stuff u can find on planets
Progression is Key to improve The game
Ooor imagine you need to like collect 3 blueprints to learn the recepie for a upgrade
Like in subnautica
Imagine , a " very very rare module " that helps you on finding exoctic weapons ... That módule should take weeks to obtain by getting The rare materials " In a form of tree "
Also every ships needs like a special thing as u said, solar is a guess kind of special, same with sentinel and living but what about the rest
I mean NMS supposted to be like a not very grindy game but i would like that personally
Imagine : resource 1: loot from creature boss (% chance to drop) , 2. Own 1000 activated indium , etc etc
Would be cool but i also imagine it to be controversial
Me 2... This is what i always tried to say, but people call me hater... This game has só much potential and hello games is not grabing it... Maybe they Will learn with light bo fire and bring to NMS in a future idk
I highly doubt they gonna change core features like these
But we will see
Imagine NMS 2 lol
Sadly , me 2... But it would make The game 100 Times better... It Would make The game a real " exploration " game
I mean space stations but its mostly a reskin with a bunch of cool stuff, but they dont change much
Exactly
I mean u got the point, getting every blueprint in a 1 place is kind of a bad idea imo
Cheap and easy too
You see its not hard for Them to make a 180° Spin in The right Direction , they are amazing designers and programmers but they need someone to tell Them " guys do this and do that to improve your game "
Exactly
Ngl im hyped for LNF but idk if it will be as memorable and overall fun as NMS
Gtg for now, its been nice talking with ya
I think it might BE , because it seams you have to go out to explore and get materials ...
I doubt you have a " Nexus " where everyting is there for easy acess
I wonder how they gonna make the oceans
I hope its not gonna be as bad as it is in NMS
Bye
The water looks 10 Times better in lnf
Speaking of water , they should improved The underwater experience Im NMS. Its just horríble to swim with jet packs
And make deeper sea
But what about inside a space station? Feels like there's lots of unused room 🤔
There are teories that hg will add rooms on 2nd floor
i hope so, I need my window into space. let me have a space cocktail and stare into the oblivion as bartender Vargh makes drinks
Speaking of bartenders
Nms has near zero non business related space
In space stations, everyone is always at work
Barely any housing, no restaurants or general social spots
The old stations had a bar of sorts in one of the rooms.
Would want a bar/restaurant in new stations that would sell you random food items. It would be a way to get all food products for pepole who dont like to sit in front of food processor
And have them serve Gek burgers
does LNF means no more/less frequent updates on NMS? or is it different teams?
We speculate that NMS will still get updates after LNF release. Just less frequent
From what they have said its a different team, but also, they move interchangeably from one to the other when its needed
Same game engine
oh that's nice then
So it will be easy to switch pepole between
yup!
And from what they say it seems there's no intention to completely stop NMS development in the next couple years yet
So there shouldn't be a reason for concern
awesome !
Oh yea, a reminder that HelloGames also released 2 small games after NMS, and they have been working on LnF for a couple years and still putting out NMS updates
So all in all, it's good indicators
I need to try last campfire someday
oh wow i didn't know, i'll investigate in those games
they should just add the option to color and add logos to customizable text
it wastes so much of the character limit
minigames?
with a private party or bots
would be so fun
like a spaceship shootout or something
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwaiCV5O3FM Amazing video by Kanaju. I think everything he says in this video is good and I'd love to see them implemented into the game
I love exploring the planets of No Man's Sky in 2024. Like many other players, I have a few ideas about how I might enhance the the experience. Unlike many other players though, I have a YouTube channel! So buckle up for over an hour of ideas, concepts, suggestions, and mad musings about how I would improve planetary variety in No Man's Sky.
Be...
could we one day have fishing?
i mean you already can go "fishing"
Solar ship fabricator inside pirate/outlaw space stations
Why would you want fishing if you still can find the same fishes underwater?
Something akin to the stardew valley fishing system in no man's sky would be fun
Because no game is complete without fishing mini games
new world and warframe also have some nice fishing
though I think no mans sky would benefit more from either a stardew or new world type minigame rather than warframes spear fishing which we can already sorta do
mainly want to sit on the shore with a fishing rod, maybe a chair and wait for a bite
Kanaju is so underrated
Its a good ideas compilation vid. but none of those ideas are new. They are circulating in commmunity since forever. Vid shows that game still has huge amounts if potential to grow in almost every aspect.
luckily, it appears the developers see that potential too
but obviously we can't expect them to implement a lot of things at once
Sure but players will not wait for ever for basic things like base part counter. Sean said this year will be big for NMS. If the year will be dissapointing many might drop the game tired of waiting.
@worn walrus hmm u just gave me an idea. real life fishing is relaxing. gonna bring my steam deck next time and play nms while i wait for a bite lol!
id love freighter to freighter combat or something of the likes
Wait for a ship to spawn in a space station while waiting for a fish to spawn in real life
It would be cool if you could customize the appearance of ships/ build your own
black as a color in the ship customization menu would be great.
There is a slight problem with that - just enabling black colour in the fabricator picker will not make the ship black
Because the colour that gets applied is still from the standard colour palette that most of the ships utilize, and that does not include proper black
We will still end up with this dark purple-ish colour because that is the closest in the ship colour palette
So one more change needs to be made: HG needs to rework the palette to include a proper black colour, but that will mean existing ships will change their colours
Only when we add that, proper black ships can be crafted
If you're on PC you can get it working by using the True Black mod from Nexus: https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/2400
you actually can build your own
its in the back of space stations
though its kinda expensive
As it should be. So traditional ship hunting would stay relevant.
I’m wondering what Hello game think of generative Ai / Machine learning as it’s dev is booming lately, if such tech could be fused with their NMS procedural engine it would be crazy amazing I think, and fits the lore
it's something I've brought up on the Light No Fire server, that machine learning AI could have potential in allowing flora and fauna to be generated fully from scratch using machine learning algorithms, instead of using pre-built base models as they are right now. it would give diversity a huge huge boost if they could pull something like that off.
I wanna own a Space Station and retrofit it with cool rooms and decorations
Did they responded? I think a mix of both pre-built + generative to keep the consistency/art direction, but still it’s the next level for anything procedural based.
Nah, HG doesn't reply on discord. It was just an idea I had. I really wish they would open the floodgates to diversity, but I feel like Grant Duncan the main art director tries to keep a tight leash on how things look
Cool I don’t own the game yet but I thought it would be cool if you could do this
i just want a use for the space station orverride thingy
I don't know if it's been said before; and I also don't know how viable this would be given the game's multiplayer environment... But I'd adore if we eventually got terraforming tools that allowed us to modify a planet's ecosystem.
I’m thinking about introducing and/or replacing species, terraforming tools to remove or create mountains, bodies of water, caves, etc. I do view it more as an aesthetic thing... Like, as a way to construct a planet with your favourite fauna and flora you’ve come across... or a world with a particular thematic. (I can already imagine we’d be getting a lot of mock-up Earths hahahaha), I think it would be cool. Specially as an end-game type of thing.
I don’t know about terraforming in the sense of altering the planet’s type... I do think that might be too far. But in terms of maybe introducing alien flora and fauna as long as there’s a level of compatibility.... that would be really cool feature to have. IMO
i think that'd take away the cool procedurally generated aspect of the game
like i quite enjoy hunting for a cool planet to make my base on
it's less fun if i can just build my own ideal planet
i'd much rather HG improved the procedural generation
multiple biomes per planet, way more flora/fauna base assets, deeper oceans, different animal behaviours (like one species hunting another species), etc.
Some animals actually kill other animals and they have an eating animation.
I’ve not seen that yet
it would be great if predators used more types of attacks. like there are the poison-spitting bugs on derelict freighters, why aren't there creatures in the wild with that capability
I asked for that a long time ago. I guess at this point they don't plan to touch the flora and fauna much
I was thinking that too, but I doubt they’d go that length with the seed generation, since adding a more robust system would be very taxing on the engine. So, I think a manual approach would be more achievable.
At the very least I’d like to be able to “beautify” my bases and add fauna and flora that I personally find interesting. I found a gorgeous planet the other day but the few animals that inhabit it are lackluster, and it’s such a shame…
“It would be taxing on the engine” is an understatement lol
I like to this idea, like for example different machines that could be added to a base that could add greener grass, certain fauna, remove the color shaders, possibly remove the need for hazard protection in the base (idk abt that one), essentially create a customizable bio dome around your base and only the base, not changing the entire environment because that could be a problem in highly populated areas
Yeah, I also don't really like the idea of entirely changing a planet because it would indeed take away from exploration, but I'd like to be able to do minor arrangements like... if you have species that belongs in a similar biome then it could be argued that you should be able to "introduce them" to your base. Or like you said, have machines that make it so that we can adapt the a small space and permit growing/farming species that are from different biomes. It would enable the creation of zoos and better farms.
And we can always keep species that are un-farmeable, that you still have to hunt down, just as it happens irl too hahaha... Within limits, it'd be a fun late game hobby to have
I’m fairly sure the engine is not the same as on release, from what I hear they already updated the seed gen a couple of years ago to what we have now
I’d argue that an even more advanced version is definitely possible, but the main concern would be to do with existing bases on planets
On a side note, I do agree that being able to beautify your base with creatures would be a really nice feature - maybe something similar to the Alien Containment from subnautica??
Yeah, that would be very cool! and I really do hope that they're still able to add to the seed generation. There may be a way to make it in such a way that planets with bases on them stay untouched? I don't know enough of anything computer related to know whether that's something they can do or not, but it sounds at the very least possible? Hahahah
wish the scan pulse would highlight nearby unscanned flora and minerals, maybe with a glow on or over it
Minor suggestion I have: it'd be cool if hauler class ships got 2x item stack size the same as storage boxes have, at the cost of them having truly awful handling or something
I'd still like more endgame gameplay opportunities for different jobs, such as building factories to process raw materials. They could also give more use to the Colossus vehicle by requiring use of them to collect and unload materials at the factory. Or expand your trading enterprise into a whole business where you hire a fleet of AI pilots, and you manage their trade routes, create defense convoys to protect from pirates, etc.
hear me out: the more people have scanned/discovered something, the higher upload reward should be
Time for new update. Any ideas what will it be?
New features for new stations
Pet racing
🔥
Atlas GPT
More variations on the worlds, at some points it feels like they are very similar. They are still good and the game touches your heart for other things
Would be really nice if developers (i assume they gonna make something like vilalges\cities generations in Light No Fire) would add about similar thing in NMS to make planets less empty, it might be not on all planets but on some, would be nice to have some variety on things you can visit except for market places and radio points
Also i like the way Anomaly is being like place for all players to meet and chat and go on some questions together, would be really nice to have there something like little city, like even built in or between HUB that is main thing there now, i saw there is some textures that already like seems like some buildings and streets etc so point is would be really nice to have something like little town for all players that want to, like when you joining Anomaly you could rent a little home\house on this, to see your friends there, or make a party or even any word play\board games that possible to do without actual cards, i think players would find the way to use it, just would be nice to have this like official common place to meet players and spend time with them in Anomaly, not your own village or spaceship but like in place where already many players spend time, because this way it could let players get some more friends, companies, fun, would be really nice
Inner part of spaceship (not the big one, the one we are for the most of time) , would be nice to have some inner space to have chance like floating in space on it and leave your captain sit to just like walk a bit around it, maybe get second sit on your spaceship to allow one of your friends sit with you on it and fly\travel together
Maybe make some more freedom in Villages that you save and became president of them to built on its territory, you can actually make your own house on its territory, just nearby, or at least make some variety that you could choose of in modification some building, maybe their look or inner space, and some more interactions with citizens of such villages, at least small talk or maybe let us buy\sell something from them too, currently they are like empty citizens that just lives there and only speak about they satisfied or not with president;s choices
Hoverboards\Skateboards would be awesome, it would make travelling much more fun
i want something where i could fly it and other players with maybe a max of 10 but anycan get in and i can decorate it and i can have it has a trad system. kinda like the frigate
How NMS can compete with the growing market of space sims: Make the frigates multicrew; industry frigates trigger coop industry missions, combat frigates trigger combat missions (infiltration/bounty/escort/etc.), exploration trigger exploration missions (data collection/planet surveys/etc.). Allow frigates to fly in atmonsphere, but not land. To land, players would have to jump in their personal ships (which are parked on the frigate). Introduce multcrew ground vehicles with mounted weapons. Introduce enemy ground bases with interior objectives (bounties/heist/data hacks/etc.) Also, add bandits/enemy faction to some abandoned freighters for these multicrew missions. Overhaul character combat mechanics to more resemble a TPS (i.e., left trigger = aim) with a cover mechanic. Lastly, make the multitool just a multitool (mining/etc.) and add weapons of various types that can be looted from these new locations.
Also, allow guilds to donate a freighter as the guild freighter so that any officer in a guild can spawn and operate the guild's freighter. Add guilds.
Make it so station overrides can override the station
Ooh
That would be cool
Having it work the first time and then introducing station management alongside settlement management
Maintaining orbit, solving ship disputes, and having a MASSIVE place for storage
Give the station 100% flight efficiency
mandatory spins on entry
Set the prices for things in the system
relocate the station in system
recolour and redesign the station
build inside the station too
When do u guys think the next update will happen
sometime between tomorrow and the end of the universe
Definitely no update until this month
Instead of cycling through starship/multitool weapons, a selection wheel would be nice
I wish they do a 360 view of the starship view when switching. something like we have in racing games like forza 5 and crew motorfest .
They already have something like it in starship builder view.
I think more stuff to do with the autophage would be cool
Right now they're just a way to get more cosmetics
Like having them in our settlements would be nice
yeah it's kind of a pain to switch them. I have one MT basically dedicated to scanning, and another for combat. but when I need to get into combat quickly it's a bit of an issue
please HG allow us to have multiple personal refiners and add T3 personal miners and if ur on ur freighter they don't need fuel
Hope we get a bit more varied community mission rewards soon. Its nice getting decals, statues or posters and things but I always preferred the appareance items or buildables. Get that's probably harder to add though. Maybe one day we'll get the ship model used in outlaw stations
Also there's 100% a new update coming for summer games fest, hope it's space stations part 2!
yeah and HG dosen't want to fall into the trap of only making cosmetics and not doing actual games updates lik F2P games
Which is why I'm planning to dedicate one mt for short range combat and another for mid-long range
I wish they concentrate more on some game play mechanics next. Aesthetically the game is at a good place, but it needs more or better enemies, more PVE content in multiplayer.
Also ship interiors would be the icing on the cake for this game.
I agree the combat system is kinda a joke ngl
They should have made it so you can enter the sentinel freighter and destroy it from the inside
This, the sentinels are basically free nanites
walkers: am I a joke to you
yes
They should make a wave system for the biooogical horrors
pew pew for 0.5 seconds and boom dead
true lol
good point
nah that would be a whole update becasue if they did that they would be re-doing the entire planet gen system
Fair point
Would be nice to have caves like dungeons for PVE that you can get cool trinkets and rewards
That would be very based
Will we ever get a ship type with interiors
It would be so awesome if we did
Maybe if they overhaul the spaceships to have their own small rooms that would be awesome
They should create a new class for that, the already existing ships are I bit small for rooms. It would be very cool but I don't think we will get that fir a while
I think maybe they could do that with haulers
What if they made Frigates flyable ships that can be multicrew operated? I mean they have somewhat of a interior, they have weapons, so why not make them the new ship types with interiors and imagine adding freighter base building to them for even more customization. Man now that would be cool.
Would be more interesting to explore exotic planets if we had new ones or just variants for the current ones, like instead of finding the 'bone crawlers' on rattling planets maybe you could find skeletal protogek instead or maybe sporal planets could have giant mechanical mushrooms everywhere instead of small ones spread apart
Everyime I discuss NMS and its future it just makes me realize NMS will never reach its full potential just because the game has so much potential. That isn't downing it btw I think NMS is amazing as is but so much could still be added and improved its just mind boggling. I really hope we see Hello Games do a follow up or sequel in some way even if it isn't NMS2 by name I'd like to see HG do another procedural universe game at some point with everything they learned from NMS and with all the community feedback they got. I just know we wont get anymore major overhauls to stuff like procgen or core mechanics I feel the base game is pretty much done now but it'd be cool to see another style game like this with bigger budget and scope. However I'd love for them to just update NMS forever instead but I feel that isn't realistic.
It's not universe and space, but i think Light no Fire when it comes out may also scratch your itch
Is the last update on biomes recent ? I feel that’s one of the core part that needs some fine tuning. In the direction of Duds sky/terra mods, it makes the worlds a lot more interesting, engaging, with “just a few tweaks”.
Hopefully NMS will benefit from LNF engine updates
They could add some assets from light no fire for water update.
Maybe there adding fishing?
Fishing would b nice if there’s a food overhaul that makes food buffs / survival more useful
Or Fishing like in Warframe 😂
Alternative methods to powering the base would be nice, EM Generators being the best power generation method really ruins some really good looking spots that don't have an EM hotspot nearby.
They finally heard my plees 😅
I can only hope for masssive deep seas! (and maybe new big sea vessels and/or monsters :):):)
They should add better survival options, Starfield just did that.
If no man’s sky give me ship interiors it’s officially gonna become my best game ever
Here ya go.
When Suit Lady tells me theres an incoming storm, I want to look in a specific direction and see a giant wall of clouds quickly approaching
I want to like expeditions but I couldn't. They can avoid repeating the same starting from the beginning loop. Maybe add some dungeons and combat mechanics to spice up the expeditions
only 2 thing truly missing in this game much requested too
- terra forming
- owning planets , space stations or even systems with a market update
owning planets? this game is about communally exploring the universe. that's not going to happen
^
it'd be cool to own a station but power should not extend beyond that unless they make a more prominent control system, maybe with the 3 guilds
influencing a system > owning
Why it's not like you can't explore without owning your own system and trade market 😅 actually gives you more incentive to travel to other systems and trade among players ....
However they gotta solve duping for that ... Which amazingly is still a thing
Are there any plans for on planet dungeons or even a wider array of POIs?
Maybe a second poi tileset?
Not that we know off. Hello Games like to keep things pretty quiet.
why does the color change on capital ships NOT affect that small part of the ship. please HG
Dude, all The future updates Will be Only "cosmétic" updates . Look for example The new expedition.. a " new" ship that does The same of every other ship , and a ghost frigate... Look The update before -> changed The look of space stations and The colour of some ships.. so in terms of Core game , dungeons , loot , progression , real sense of exploration , Will not be in NMS, sadly . Maybe we Will get those things in light no fire
Abyss added underwater ruins, wrecks, buildings, and a new questline. Desolation added explorable derelict freighters. Origins added planetary archives and new planet types. Sentinel added sentinel pillars and new lore. Interceptor added dissonant planets. Echoes added all the Autophage related POI's. Nearly every expedition has had customized planets. This expedition appears to have a customized galaxy (haven't played it yet, just what I've read).
I don't think most of us would be surprised if some form of planet-based dungeon is added to NMS in a future update.
the groundwork is already there with derelict freighters
just think that staffs might have been the precursor to us getting customized ships
They should add technology that takes up multiple tech slots in return for damage+maneuverability or shield+jump range. Both of these upgrades cannot be installed on the same ship. The reason behind this is that maxed out starships often have more tech slots than it needs for its intended purpose (combat/exploring/goods transport), and often ends up getting filled with weapons or cosmetics, making the ship less specialized. The new technology would allow ships to specialize in certain roles by giving up some strengths in other roles. For example, an explorer ship would have to give up some weapons for even more jump range.
Anybody have any speculations on what the next update could be?
Already predicted the last one, but I'm clueless on what the next one could be
Hear me out - I bet the next update will be The orbital update part 2 Adding solar ship and shuttle creator, adding more room into space stations, and adding space station remodel to pirate and abandoned systems
I don't think that's too unlikely
we literally got a hint about solar creator in the trailer i think
I'm kinda shocked they didn't expand the new space station model before this expedition considering all we have are abandoned ones
And we still don't know what those racing flags in the trailer were about...
There is no vendor in place where racing flags where in the trailer
Imo it will be moved to rooms behind locked doors
Adrift would be an amazing ganemode even without the expedition
No economy, have to start with a destroyed ship and multitool and more dead planets, I love the empty, dead worlds with no help. The most fun I've had in this expedition was struggling for oxygen and sodium. The only change I would make is to make wiring looms craftable and delete the economy entirely
This much more suited for a game like star citizen or maybe eve online. NMS is focuses on exploration and story with a few extra bits to make it a functional game. It’s not supposed to be a space capitalism sim
I would love to be able to buy ship parts for 5-25 mil a price depending on which part it is. I love the new crafting ships and custom paint jobs but finding the parts sometimes sucks
tbh i think the abandoned stations should stay the same, or at least keep some of them as the original look. i think its really neat to have the older abandoned ones be the actual unused abandoned assets that have since been phased out with better tech. its oddly immersive to me
I guess I’m just hear to argue with people now. I 100% agree with the ship customization thing and the novelty ships should stay authentic-only. But the whole point of pirate and abandoned stations keeping the old design is to show that they are not being cared for because the major civilizations don’t have any presence there
Oh I did not see this
tbh abandoned systems should stay the same if i think about it, but pirate systems SHOULD get a remodel, like come on
I really wish we had public storage, I'd make so many bases where people could fly by and take whatever ship resources they needed
For years we wanted alternative energy builds like windmills. They should have came with the storm updates but no.
fission and fusion Reactors, and wave and tidal generators.
We still cannot upgrade a base freighter. That would be awesome.
I am still having trouble with my Eye on my horror helmet lol The pupil keeps disappearing lol That issue I wrote to Hello Games personally lol
Love the Game, not so crazy about our updates.
For the ship collectors out there, they should make some sort of ship storage facility where you can store however many ships you want. However, ships stored in the facility cannot be summoned and instead can only be accessed by visiting the facility in person
Agriculture/culinary guild plz
When NMS is abandoned years from now they should make all previous expeditions available at the expedition terminal
Servers will probably shut down so it won't cause a balancing issue on multiplayer
The iron vulture is the perfect ship for this. It main body is massive
is this being considered at all
honestly, there' hasn't been an indiaction to give hopes.
We know multiplayer was added as a way to mostly experience exploration together, help building something together, etc.
We have those missions at the nexus and derelicts, the things that were implemented with multiplayer in mind.
The idea for example, of sharing a starship, may give problems implementing in the current game core.
ok
No one can tell for sure what they're working on next though, but it's been a while since they added anything multiplayer focused
Just give me ship interiors and dungeon like bosses to hunt and I’d be super happy
Same
i think they should add bosses, like galactic horros it would make the game more interesting
pirate dreadnoughts and sentinel walkers are the closest we have to bosses right now
yeah but imagine you go to another galaxy and you get there nad there a giant alien just eating a planet or slt
there is the asteroid larvae wich is the closest thing to a galactic horror
Sentinel capital ships?
We need dungeon thingies
Something on the ground like a derelict freighter with new enemy types might be doable?
Yeah. Would make derelict freighters more fun
Ground/underground dungeons made with mechanics simliar to derelict freighters should be doable. Idk how it would perform resource wise tho. since derelict is rendered in space so technicaly its the only object "fully" rendered. And on base ps4 i get fps drops when planetary archive/crashed freighter pops in on planet surface.
Yeah I don't know why they haven't added procedural dungeons, it seemed like the next logical step after the derelicts, and would greatly expand exploration opportunities on planets
I guess they're saving that for Light No Fire...
In the space station update, I was really expecting space stations to get procedural interiors, rather than having their interiors simplified even more to just one main area
All the main points of interest that are the same in each system in one main area is cool, but having a bunch of unique optional things per system would have been an awesome touch
Like imagine going to a mercantile system and wandering around the station, and bumping into a korvax that specializes in manufacturing star silk at a much lower price than you could get at trade terminals
Also, it'd be cool if there was a small storyline involving an anomalous vy'keen
We have anomalous Korvax and Get with Nada and Polo
I personally would love a new type of ship that's between regular ships and the freighter (drivable frigates pretty much). I love the concept of being able to walk inside your ship, but also being able to fly around in that same ship. Like a mobile mini-base that can land. Something like the ships we've seen in movies and whatnot or the ship system like Starfield. That would be cool
that is a thing i also want in NMS
it would be nice to perhaps have a Expedition around such a thing
yeah
matter of fact, it would be super nice to have an expedition about helping the frigates in their own expedition. Maybe even add more npc life by having to scout a planet with a group of npc (from your frigates). Mind you, I don't know if that's possible, but it would be super great. At the end of it you could be able to unlock or take with you a frigate that you and your npc found lost/crashed. Kind of light the freighters (you can only have one) but you can find more/buy/turn existing one into it. I know it's a complex idea, but I'd love to see more npc interaction other than just having them glued to one position. I'd love to see them roam around other than in ships. I know there's settlements and all that, but this would add more life to the game imo
when the trailer said proc gen interiors I thought that finally there'd be unique interiors
don't get me wrong the new design is very nice and I enjoy the colour variation but swapping one space station design for another just feels like a waste to me
It would be nice if they kept some of the old layouts with the new ones (it's nice they did that with outlaw/barren systems) but I was at least expecting shopfronts being in different positions depending on the system
that'd be my one request for a future update
that and having multiple player freighters visible in the same system :)
also
what about the pirate space stations?
haven't been to one of them since the update, always felt they were a bit small with how everything was so bunched up
would be nice to see more titan worm movement types, like sliding across the surface, but i'd be happy with seeing them do barrel rolls 😄
We got flying titan worms. What about swimming titan worms?
It would be really cool if hello games started adding community paints to download and or more paint variations like camo, racing, emblems, clans, such and such.
Honestly it was getting annoying hopping from one side of the space station to the other. The new design is welcome and I also see a soldier display on every space station, does this mean we'll finally get to fight korvax, gek, and vykeen on foot?
i hope in the future that you can choose to have bases on particular planets and planets in a particular system grouped into nesting folders when you're going through a teleporter. and also the ability to see a list of bases on a planet from your discoveries, as well as being shown more info about the planet at a teleporter....
that would make life so much easier lmfao
I agree, the new layout is nice and convenient
some optional unique-ness for each station apart from the core shops would have been nice though
i dont care if i need 200 gazillion nanites to build it, i need something like this
Honestly I don't want to see worms at all, I was so sick of them by the end of the expedition. They were cool as a rare thing, and now they're just way overused
And the new audio effect of worms is awful
To me, this is what the trailer of adrift made it seem like the iron vulture was. I thought it was gonna have a huge storage and come equipped with some fancy features. Nope, just a cool looking hauler that you can’t use the whole expedition
lmao ikr?
I want deeper oceans to fit things like this
Deep oceans are forever my #1 want in No mans sky
We all do
I want deeper space
It'd be cool if they added a toggle in settings "Allow warp to bases/stations in other galaxies"
not locking the player out entirely of warping to their bases in other galaxies, but having a toggle there if the player wants to get that immersive experience where going through the core really is a decision with huge weight that "erases" things the player had built there
I know it isn't even over yet but would like to see elements of the expedition brought into the main game; with the Worm Hive system type, although I would want this to get extremely rare.
As well as making some of the 256 Galaxies Dead Galaxies. The more extreme the Galexy differences are the more of a reason I have to visit each
Would love to see some improved jetpack mechanics. Longer flight time. Ability to fly sideways without having to melee and fly at the same time. Similar to how the Mandalorian jetpacks work would be really cool.
Very dramatic differences between galaxies would be amazing
Like imagine if in the very later galaxies, it was changed so that instead of stars, every solar system was centered by a black hole
and the center of the galaxy was just a very dramatic void
Im sure someone has said it before, but I would like it if I could choose what settlement features get replaced when such an opportunity presents itself.
as well as adding some furniture into settlements to mark important places. It's hard to find my way to the overseers office
Making the 256 galaxies get more and more intense and glitchy the farther you get, as if || each jump through the center brings you closer and closer to the end of 16 as described by the ATLAS in the simulation of its own future|| would be really cool, with something happening after the final one
Shoutout to Hello Games for continuing to make one of the best open-world exploration/survival titles for one low price in a world of microtrans-addicted survival titles. Very much looking forward to supporting their future work.
Same, props to them for stick with this game and releasing giant content updates for it for over 8 years without stooping into subscription services or microtransactions
Has there been any word about the ship customization being expanded? I do think that it's currently very cool but I was looking forward to customizing my sentinel ship and even making custom one. Seeing that I cannot make one or even customize the colors of mine really sucks.
HG is working on buildable solar ships. Also shuttles were in the trailer and patch notes but seemingly got pushed back last minute.
I have a theory that the iron vulture is HG testing to see how introducing new ship parts behaves for players before they add brand new parts into the universe.
Maybe those ship wrecks we got as base parts will be something we can come across planets and extract new unique ship parts from them.
Since games like Resident Evil IV Remake and Alien: Isolation are avaliable on the iPad I wonder when and if No Man's Sky would eventually be ported to the iPad as well as a portable option next to the Switch 🤔
I have an iPad pro with an M chip and even if NMS will he released on iPad PC would still be my main platform but being able to play NMS on my iPad on the go would be fun 😊
I remember Sean was asked in an interview if he'd port NMS to phones and iPad since technically it should be less challenging than the Switch.
..I forgot what his answer was or where to find the interview tho. 🫠
Well, NMS is already on the Mac and afaik iPads with an M1 processor or above are already more powerful than a Nintendo Switch, sooo I don't see why it can't be released on iPad. No pressure to Hello Games, though.
I wonder what Sean's emoji for the iPad release will be, since we've already had 🍎🍏
It's a weird thing but I kinda wish the rifle type multitools had two-handed animations, I feel like it would make combat feel a little smoother even though its just a visual thing
Let us own more freighters with their own extra ship slots pls
With custom ships and possible mt parts in the future now we again need more slots for ships and mt. Like 2x more.
i don't remember seeing him ever say that, all I know is Apple mistakenly announced it would be coming to iPad in their marketing. if you find the interview I'd love to see it!
i need supply pipe based farming
if this gets added my nip nip farms will actually be usable
-Show merchant/explorer/mercenary guild icon on saved space stations
-Let us delete saved space stations
-Let us name save beacons & let them be visible to other players with NO limits, OR have base icon colors show for other players
-Let us own like 2 more freighters w/ separate 9 ship slots for them
-Make squadrons use actual ship stats & loadouts
-Resizable prefabs w/ working snaps
-Exocraft hoverboard w/ buildable grind rails
-Let all ships types stop & hover in place, not just interceptors
Add the ability to play previous expeditions on the expedition console pls 🙂
Also maybe an option to be able to change the colors on our ships would be super cool
does hello gmaes look at this to get ideas for new updates?
because we need this
no but they have a zendesk
kk
there are HG employees who lurk here sometimes, but if you really want to get their attention use the zendesk
!hg
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Please improve the look of the water surface. It really brings down the visuals compared to everything else tbh...
And water biome itself
I don't think the water biome is terrible, but they could add more aquatic animals as base procedural parts. we don't really have much in the way of big sea creatures, like whales or giant octopii (like in the LNF trailer)
Fix the catalogue, my OCD brain is constantly twitching looking at it
Like, not a deal breaker, but
Re-work the shaders and add more light absorption (the game is a bit too reflective with colored lights imo) also make more detailed shadow casting without requiring you too have 2 nasa supercomputers instead of the required 1 rn
I looked at the LNF trailer again and you know, the water there really is much better. I mean there's no nice waves going on, but instead of an opaque surface you can see the land underneath disappearing, looking murky. And the reflections are a bit nicer. I'd love to see actual rolling waves in NMS, but even this water would be great. I hope HG ports this over to NMS
LNF feels like them taking all they've learned developing NMS, and using it to make one super well designed planet instead of an entire universe
I have just found very edge case bug
If you locate a trading post on a dissonant planet that has low gravity storm weather, it messes with ships landing on it
They all just hover midair around the landing pads
And then when the storm ended, they all slowly landed
I would like HG to give us the ability to own planets, and the tools to create our own stories and lore. It would make the universe in NMS feel more populated and interesting.
What I most want is:
- The ability to hook farming structures up to supply depot networks, automatically harvesting and storing output
- An automatic crafting machine that can accept a few inputs, and automatically craft them into any recipe you know. That output product of course, able to be piped to another crafting machine or a storage network
- A collection of several even more complex valuable products to make use of this automation
Factorio bases when
I hope we get a new Ship tech upgrade that allows us to see the domaint faction in a system
Also kinda wish the power diverting mechanic was tied to an early tech upgrade so it could be tutorialized slightly
you mean so you can see which race the system belongs too?
This is tied to the whole region.
If something gets added it would have to be an extra field next to the Region name, when you expand the galaxy map tooltip
So each region on the Galaxy map is tied to a different guild? Huh explains why I keep running across the same ones
And yeah, i wouldn't expect anything more. Just a little extra information when expanding the toggle
yea correct.
The same region will have the same guild on all systems.
they need to add the staff walk animation from the echoes trailer
?? Just walk slowly?? I have the animation
Walking is only possible using a Controller
Oooh
It'd be cool if there was more you could do with frigates while they're docked at your freighter, with how often a large portion of them are left idle after you send some away on the 5 expeditions
Things like you being able to request a mining frigate tow a "high resource" asteroid into position next to your freighter, which you could then get out and mine like an on-planet resource deposit with either the terrain manipulator or those temporary mining things you can deploy
So does it only apear on console versions? Or if I connect a controller will could I see it on pc?
Can we please get more than just the three races? I mean the autophage are a nice touch, but it would make for a more interesting game play. That and warping out with two or more groups locked in space combat.
Can we get pls bug fixes🙏
!hg
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
All I want to see in a future update is the ability to turn Pastry into things other than just Pie Casings
GIVE ME CROISSANTS OR GIVE ME DEATH!
Pls make this a thing.
I'd really like to be able to use mods on the Mac version of NMS. It seems that currently HG have mod checking completely disabled on the Mac. Please fix this Sean :(
Would love to see custom ship interior panel colours and custom ship engine colours added to the game whether through ship customisation menu or just a random chance in game, this is possible as they're are mods that do both however they change them globally. I assume Hello Games can split them similar to star ship trail colours
wdym by making this into a thing?
"Consumption of the pilot"
y'know, playing this expedition got me back into the groove of this game and made me think here and there, we should really have a Light no fire style expedition some time. Lock us all into a single huge planet, no space ship (we get one at the very end of it), and make the most out of exocrafts and base building.
I would prefer they just release Light No Fire
A really nice little quality of life feature would be if short-range teleporter cables doubled as power cables
that way you don't have to go back and forth running two cables when setting them up
I will never stop asking hello games for ship interiors
we need the ability to build a planetary hangar bay. like.. dude i try to build one myself but “oh landing is not clear” boi shut. landing is clear enough. i feel like it’s counterproductive to space design to only have starships landed OUTSIDE.
perhaps a freighter upgrade that increases Hanger size based on freighter class
Wish there was someway to make notes about systems without actually renaming them like "this system gives x tribute" etc
I am really really excited for LNF
I would honestly appreciate an update to the living ships, they feel powercrept at times. Maybe the ability to breed living ships? Like how they do it in ark where the dinosaurs can occasionally mutate after breeding for a while… could result in unlocking cool colors.
Also adaptations to the home planet you found it on, say the shield stat is buffed on the ice planet, and the armor looks colder with frozen chunks
Poisonous planets can have them emit a cloud around them leaving a trail of acidic smog
Radioactive planets can have living ships that have reduced launch drive cost
Glitch planets can have almost stary living ships
Here is a request:
So in the Omega update you added the ability to capture and take control of pirate Capital ships. Now, how about we make a really rare occurrence when the anomaly detector or the Dream areal would be able to detect a space giant (you know the space anomaly of the skull of a massive sea-like creature) but then living and that you can tame it and that it would give a mission to build a command centre on/in it to control it just like a normal freighter. And then it would be a 1 in 50 chance to gain it from the whale song from deep space. Then call the mission ‘Taming the Deep Space’ (you only get the mission once you encounter the deep space thing.)
One thing I'd love to have is a Space Sim Mode similar to the Like A Dragon series' Premium Adventure Mode where you can start a new save file, but with no story missions and everything you'd normally unlock while going through both paths already unlocked from the start.
i wish we could combine different parts from different ship styles.. for example the orb body of the exotics, but vertical solar panels of the explorer.
make it so we can paint any starship
Do you think nms will just release all the expeds for free once they stop developing the game
Questin is when they stop developing the game. From what i saw expeditions are low cost to set up.
I thought they would slow down updates once they are full force on light no fire
Once that happens will they just release all of the expeds so they arent locked off for eternity
Big assumption though, they've given no indication they plan to end NMS development because of LNF
what's lnf?
Light No Fire, HG's upcoming new game
Oh alr thx
Have they released a roadmap/teasers for any new mechanics?
that's also not a thing in game currently
oh i see.. as a future wish hmm
Yes
I feel like we need a customization update
more colors, more patterns, updating some of the older customization pieces, and more outfit slots
With the shipbuilding mechanic in place now there should be a new hardcore mode so to speak that makes alterations to mechanics like building to make them more complex more in depth and harder to work together. Key aspect to this hardcore mode no ship on start, ruthless economy (already a slider for that), harsher storms (not just more storms and not necessarily hotter, colder, more toxic, etc storms just that they affect you more and more importantly impact upgrades you have, potentially destroying or forcing objects from your inventory), more in depth crafting (more types of resources required as well as more resources per type; in settings it would be two separate options), certain base types that you can build in the regular modes no longer existing (the base elements that are a “place and play” style with no real semblance as to construction beyond getting the appropriate resources), and all the already existing difficulty mechanics in place
To me a hardcore mechanics should not just be the base mechanics but harder but rather a simple gameplay loop to a complex gameplay loop making for the game not to become just more annoying when raising the difficulty but a real decision making process where your attention is demanded upon
give the atlas seed a use
let it create a personal system
and a freighter port
and more ship slots
make ending the story a bit more rewarding
It's like the most minor thing in the world but it's been bugging me since omega that the photonix core doesn't have a unique icon
I want to be able to steal ships
I would love to be able to change the color of purchased ships. Especially if we have to shell out resources for upgrades. If it is upgradable, we should be able to change the color like we can for our freighter.
That would be great in pirate smuggling missions.
or even just be able to scan them
We need more varied missions, maybe one mission could be steel a ship from the pirates or a particular faction.
I always wanted to them to introduce pirate camps on planets, which could introduce a lot of new missions like raiding them, bounty hunter, returning stolen cargo/ships, etc., but they doubled down on Sentinel combat instead of combat with NPCs so that probably won't happen
Also it seems wild that they've never had an Exocraft chase mission (chasing someone in another Exocraft). that would at least give Exocrafts something fun and meaningful to do
You should be able to select which type of planet you spawn on (specifically things like desert, winter, summer, etc but not the state of the planet eg economy)
Separated this from my other post since it’s a bit different from what that was asking for there
make vault towers accept mor forms of artifacts. I gave up long ago of finding anything those want. not even when I brought bones.
or at least offer missions to get specific artifacts for the reward
One thing I don’t understand why this game doesn’t have it is HDR
The stars and planets would look so much better
hdr?
Just use diaplay screen with hdr 😉
game supports HDR though afaik
High dynamic range
It gives more brightness and color palete range
Just a slight suggestion: would it be possible for Atlas Stations to NOT drain your life support while you're in them? It's a bit odd, considering any other form of space station doesn't do that.
I never encounter that so its safe to bet its a bug.
How many more major updates or expeditions does everyone think we'll be getting before LNF?
we don't even have a vague release date for LNF yet, so that's pretty hard to guess
allow less ambitious players the chance to own a frigate in command of a squadron of starships. no need to burden players with a giant freighter.
Yeah I mean so many starships out there but we can only see them parked in trading outposts and space stations. Where are their home bases be it a pirate or other npcs . We can only see the vendors . Maybe they could utilise the settlement system proc tech to populate pirate hideout or other npc settlements we can come across.
Perhaps we could have Aurora Borealis events at night if you're in the right location?
actually having poles on planets would be nice, instead of it being diurnal everywhere
we do have simulated poles already with the day/night cycle
i would just like much longer, variable per-planet, day/night cycles
thats not how poles work
Enlighten me please. While at it explain what 'diurnal everywhere' means
I have made it a point to fly to the poles of some planets and they still have day and night at those locations. thats not how axial rotation works.
Hence I said we have simulated poles.
You can get it to the point where you get a very reduced twilight time
Also if you are still getting a full cycle, you are not right at the pole.
You should be getting a constant sunset or sunrise @limpid cargo
you follow the mark until it swings around behind you, you're at the pole
but I'll check again
which mark swings around?
The simulated "poles" in NMS, are not the geographic poles.
iow, to be at the "edges" of the sun path, is not going to correspond with the expected coordinates, or the expected magnetic poles
the N and S markers
the things that indicate where the rotational axis is
should be
yea, doesn't work like that
how does it work? I've never been able to find these mysterious poles that never turn night
I'd love to see some fleet battles where you command your capital ship and frigates to engage
i'd love to have it where you can have a fleet of freighters
Do you mean like npc fleets, where there's a capital freighter, and other freighters behind. I'd love this
Yeah
actual NPC cities would be neat
Is it just my screen or is flashlight so dimm ? Please make flashlights more bright.
Switch cant even handle settlements. Good luck with cities
The planets have no axes since they don't rotate, the skybox does. However there are certain latitudes that are mostly either day or night
It's just not very pronounced
switch compatibility is holding this game back, as well as many other games...
It's not, they left out things the Switch can't do. If they want to add more the Switch can't handle, it will be the same.
Planets don’t actually rotate because beta players kept reporting their stuff being in completely different places as a bug
Would it be possible to make us a Sentinal Walker pet? Would be interesting to pretty much ride a NMS AT-ST
I think that one of the most original pssible new mechanics is the one of the sickness and danger of the planet, like u could get sick If the space suit gets Hurt because all the dangerous things of a planet, criatures, plants. An example:u are exploring one planet and a dangerous creature attacks u,now u would have to check a new menu of the space suit to see if it is hurt, and it in the case that it is hurt u would have to check if u have sickness,it would be a lot of disease with a lot of symptoms,to deal with this u would have to craft a microscope to see what u have to do to cure the disease.
And to the experience exploring the planets were further more inmersive, hello games could create new dangerous creatures that represent a true threat to the player. I don't know very well English but i tried to explain it good
yes, collect iodine as a resource to recover from radiation damage
some of the slimes could be refined into penicillin for toxic illness
as for hot and cold... salt and niacin, or aluminum
Infection on toxic planets and radiation sickness on radioactive planets would be awesome
Maybe burns and hypothermia on hot and cold too?
I wish, that hello games also tried to make like exosuits for the most dangerous planets, and talking about exosuits, I think about tye possibility of making a base on the inside of tye frigate, and if the frigate gets Hurt for some reason,u had to unlock an exosuit for going out the frigate in the void of the space to repair the hurt pieces
I say the exosuit for dangerous planets like a new complement of the suit that u would have to unlock on the anomaly *
Because 3 modules + crafted tech is max u can get
I'd love the floating expedition starship to become a full class with procedural variants. It's one of the coolest designs they've done, it'd be a horrible shame to leave it as one static model
Sure would be nice to purchase ships unlocked in expeditions more than one time per save.
And more ship customization. Mixing ship components from other types too. And the ability to change colors without having to build a new ship would be a nice feature. Seems odd that isn't a thing.
I know this isn't the channel for this and it will sound like a complaint / "ackshaully" thing but
The chances to get mixing ship parts from different types are next to 0
The game's procedural system is not ready for this and it's too much work
and more scenery and plant growth to paradise planets..
also we should add vehicles similar to this and/or like jets for planetary flight beneath atmosphere limits (cannot fly above the atmosphere) this also means we need a lot more air space than is given..
would also be great if we had more base parts and fauna options. would be interesting if we could introduce previously discovered species to other planets
add extra terrain features such as waterfalls, vines, flora along cliff faces.. planets are still very lacking
Either way, a simple color scheme change and multiple purchases of expedition unlocks would be nice. Mainly because I would like to customize multiple variations of the iron vulture.
Having new parts in the generator pools would be pretty nice!
Ship, Fauna, or otherwise
I have seen an idea for a main freighter and smaller freighter around it
Perhaps introduce a small freighter typ that lets you storage ships and the 12 ships max is just a quick select
The higher the Rank of that ship freighter the more ships it can carry
I would certainly not mind to have second page of ships or some way to store them outside of quick menu for later
Trench coat update when?
being able to claim it as long as it is not already in inventory
because at this rate I fear that I wont have any more space in my cargo for all the special ships they give xD, I m already considering scrapping the utopia speeder

the three big theme-issues i have with no mans sky currently
1: base building is limited and gets ANNOYING- lot of furnishings have to be built from scratch to make a room even look CLOSE to a science lab, and some base parts have a limit as to how much you can place down.
2: there’s a limit as to how much flight machinery you can own, and you cannot store them past this capacity. (note, hangar bays do not exist, and cannot be built as even if you do, you cannot land inside them.)
3:… planetary scenery it’s limited. you don’t get natural rivers, just oceans and they’re not even that deep. you don’t get thick forests, it’s all patchy. you don’t get waterfalls. cliffs never have plants growing on them. Animals are limited and often look like shit. The land is never flat and building has a bad habit of breaking the land around it, but the changes to land still appear as if the base runs through it; terrain edits don’t show on multiplayer. there are only 3 intelligent species in the whole game besides yourself. In other words, the whole “explore worlds” gets really old as the variety just runs out. there should be “lush paradise” worlds that are practically COVERED with water, land, rivers, layered trees and shrubs, just absolutely gorgeous. add caves too.
Devs might want to take massive notes from planets in movies (avatar, star wars, etc. (pandora from avatar would be a GREAT example to work with, because it’s a gorgeous planet, that’s the kind of scenery and plant growth we need.)
We also need hangar bays that we can use to store more spacecraft, and say we want to switch out a few. boom we can do that. also, we should have planetary flight craft .. not everything has to be ground only or space compatible-
Honestly i would like the ability to fight pirates on the ground like the sentinals
dpwolf2 already made a suggestion I'd suggest. But I want to go more in depth with their concept.
If you don't mind, @brazen roost.
**Spoilers for a rare type of fauna!
Also yes I formatted this badly. Let me have this, I'm not the brightest, still happy to show my thoughts and wishes.**
Another thing is a more in depth system involving the fauna.
Creature pellets simply don't feel right to give to what seems like 90% of fauna (outside of the very rare ||artificial robotic fauna needing Ion Batteries, also odd how automatic feeders exclude that||). Why not expand upon that?
Perhaps based on the fauna's diet and/or available food sources (as seen in the Discoveries Tab, which often states what certain animals eat) you could be required to use something OTHER than Creature Pellets?
1-A: If that seems too restrictive, perhaps Creature Pellets can remain the near universal taming food, but feeding fauna foods from their particular diets yields benefits. Such as lower product cooldowns, more trust, or even a chance to get something (say a particular animal is relatively intelligent, maybe feeding them properly could net you a gift from them relating to the environment.)
1-B: Why not allow us to have more than one of our companions out? There wouldn't even be a need for a friendship system (meaning certain companions will get along with companions better than others), just let us see how our two little blobby b o i s would interact with each other.
1-C: Please let us do a bit more with our Companions. Even if it's as simple as adding an ability to throw a stick (or even utilizing the Sphere Creator to create a ball for them to play with) would be nice.
I will be making a Google Doc with my wishes.
I'll link it here when it's done if people care about that. For some reason.
Big problem people often have is that many mechanics aren't really that well developed
Nms is wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle, you can even say that nms is like nms oceans
Perhaps next game, light no fire, will go more In depth with it's mechanics or another space game hello game does
1-B is probably technical issue
1-C some companions have special mechanics, predators will hunt and robotic fauna will scan from time to time, but I don't think it goes any deeper then that 🤔
As for the future hello games keeps adding more mechanics, so our ocean will keep getting wider, not sure if it'll get deeper
It's a game hello games is currently developing
We got one trailer but nothing more Then that
Neat.
I'm also hoping reputation actually does something.
Like maybe if you have a very very low reputation (in the negative 100's) you might be more likely to get attacked from the species/factions you have a low reputation with.
Say...
You have a... -200 reputation with the Vy'Keen. If you're in a system where they're the dominant species, you're way more likely to be attacked by them. Perhaps it's for a bounty the species has on you, could be that simple.
