If you really need them. Then the best option is to go to a space station that is 3 star for production. Buy the ships that arrive as A and S class and then scrap those and sell the upgrades that you get to the shop

To do that. You need to use the hyperdrive. Every almost 4 or so gives you a chance to save a freighter.

Only the very big cool looking ones get to S.
You can save in the space station before using the hyperdrive. Then when you get to the new system you can see the freighter that is available. If you don't like it. Reload and that next hyperdrive will always spawn a freighter. Make sure it is the big ones.

Then once you get the one you like. Then go to the current space station and save ( by exiting the ship) and fight off the pirates.
When you land use the visor and you see the class of the freighter by looking at it.
If not S, load and redefeat the pirates.you
The best chance for S class is if you go to a 3 star like opulent, etc

If you have no freighter now.then you get it free

It's a generalised thing to tell people because if you're starting in the same system there's a good chance that your quest lines will interlink - causing an error where one players quest line will continue and the other will be halted.

For example, you find a terminal marked for both players, one activates it for a mission - it stops the other player using it.

MP also bugs out the living ship quest line.
