You get living ship modules(assuming you mean upgrades) from void eggs in space, but you need void eggs in your inventory to come across one in space

They can either spawn a living ship(the frequency thingy) or you'll come across a void egg in space that you can shoot, and upon shooting it you'll get the modules(upgrades)

Yeah, if you know hot to dupe items. I'd suggest duping the eggs and in every system you can, warp Pulse Drive 1-3 times with eggs in your inventory and if you don't come across a void egg in space for shoot, warp to the next system and try again. (Basically what I did)

this is true because they are eggs that go to the same egg slot, this means when one is given away or hatched the other becomes an empty egg (which can mess up loading a save) u can fix a duped egg manually however by going into the save json and changing the egg value (number right after the name egg) to a new egg slot and fill that egg slot up with a new creature

Salvaged tech modules you find by digging up the wifi-looking symbols on a planet. They give you 1-4 tech modules. For freighter tech modules, shoot the cargo pods (which tell you the contents if you hover your reticule over them) attached to freighters, and not the standalone flying cargo pods. You don't lose rep doing that. Simply land in and exit a station to reset the freighter pods
