Basically. I can get my living ship to 48-24.
Here's how it works: you summon your freighter, go to the same space station as me, buy a new ship, then leave in the ship you originally came from and bring it to your freighter. At this point, the ship you bought should be in your freighter and at the space station. You stay in your freighter. I go into the ship you bought in the station (it's an abandoned ship, from my pov) and upgrade it. But I actually upgrade my living ship

Side note: There's an option for in-game speech-to-text, since consoles don't offer in-game text chat, but that's not as reliable for a lot of players.
