that usually means storms around
they disappear as soon as the storm ends so you have to hunt in the storm, which is tricky

also if you just camp the anomoly for a bit you can find nexus missions for activated minerals or even storm crystals and they will always warp you right to a qualifying planet

You can just reject the calls from the ship until you get to a space station and save, after you save you can answer the call, find the ship, use photo mode to look at it and if you don’t like it reload

what makes normal more easy than survival? is survival not just annoying with stack sizes
i could just begin a game, go get navigation data and trade for secure sites, rush the stasis device, or the other way and just farm tech modules and get the mineral extractor and supply depots and the electromagnetic generator, and tech the indium drive either way i would make a billion but in a more annoying way

yes and no. the story is good, but the actual mechanics of the game arent very well explored.
honestly the best way to learn would be here, by playing with others and asking questions.
i recommend being host if youre inexperienced, as you wont be yoinked out of your location and sent who knows where to the host.
once you know more and are more comfortable with the game itll be much less jarring to join others.

in terms of 'progression', the entire game can be accessed and enjoyed without really touching the story if you dont want/need to. its not so much a question of should you do something as much as it is can you do it. youll need a couple things besides a location to get a mine going

@solemn dawn play the main quests. They explain everything. Here are some tips: Every blueprint in the game that is related to technology can be learned at the anomaly, all of the crafting recipes are learned at manufacturing facilities, which you can find by getting secret locations from cartographers, or using the Minotaur exocraft (vehicle) to scan for them manually. You can reload auto saves when going to MF'S ^^^ to get the riddle correct. Refiners are your friend. Best way to make money is by either getting cobalt and selling it at an economy with high buy percentage, then buying it back at a cheaper price, or by making a mineral farm with deep vein extractors. Best way for nanites early on is talking to polo after doing the main quests, every time you're prompted. Other yhan that, buying and scrapping ships gives you upgrades to sell to vendors for nanites. Weekend missions and dailies give you quicksilver at the nexus in the anomaly. READ EVERYTHING.
