If you explore 1 time the freighter, and collect every chest and read every data pad + both terminals for the logs and then sell them to the scrap dealer, you get more than enough tainted metal

Why do you need that exactly to be given to you ?
It's a blueprint, easy to make and cheap to get from the upgrade terminal in your freighter with only 4 or 5? Salvaged Frigate Modules

I just started a few weeks ago. Follow the quest prompts and you’ll figure things out. The game does a pretty good job of walking you through everything. Don’t worry about making a wrong decision and having to start over. It’s not that kind of game.
