If you get void egg when ur in space use pulse drive and the quest activates and then it says 24 hrs time to complete each quest you can skip it by changing time in you're pc and restart the game

I believe there are three ways of getting it. Nr.1 is that someone gives you the parts and you assemble it by yourself like you said. Nr. 2 is that you have to do the expedition when it returns and nr. 3 is with a save editor. That only works pc though

My opinion, if you just started, forget about living ship and void egg. Its supposed to be got after the player has unlocked the glyphs after completing game. But then again this is the lfg/trade channel and not the opinion channel.
