In a way yes, a successful ship trade depending on what you are trying to do will depend on the result you get mainly dependent on the ship you use. But I’ll break it down, since echoes it no longer works in the way players may hope it to work. But there are some exceptions.

We can trade ships that are a unique ship like the Utopia speeder, switch ship, golden vector and starborn runner. As they are different ship scene files so won’t get affected by the seed changing like how other ships do. The game gives them the seed value of 0x1. However like normal class, stats and installed tech will reroll and won’t be the same as the what the original player installed. Note from recent testing the new Iron Vulture did not work when exchanging, atm I can say best way to trade is to supply the ships 3 model parts.

Tho for any other ship the seed will reroll meaning everything will change including the design (type of the ship will match ship type in that system) you still get a ship but it may not match the one owner of the originally came in with, aka what the player may advertise.

This being said of course there are ways to exploit it and possibly get the same ship but doing that you might aswell get the player to just give you the glyphs to the ships system.

the method I know is that both players go to a space station.

• Giver trades the ship with an npc
• Taker will stand near the ship until the npc spawns
• Taker claims the ship from the npc

@quasi fossil You can only exchange expedition ships though! The method "works" with regular starships, however both exchanged ships will disappear as soon as it's done.

True! However a lot of people don't have the pre order ships. I haven't tested the Iron Vulture but good to know, that does make sense.

Ya if you attempt to trade the iron vulture it will just appear as the hauler its seed is tied to.

That’s for the other player, for you it will remain, if you save and reload it will then appear as a regular hauler, so if you do test do so on a new save.

Depending on the ship, you might have to use nms save editor. As far as I know (and I've been told) regular ships do not transfer properly when done with the ingame methods. The one reliable way I've found to move ships from a save to another is by creating a backup of the ship file and adding it to your fleet in the editor.

For expedition ships, however (Starborn Runner, Golden Vector, Utopia speeder) you can trade them with the ingame method with no problem. The only thing is that their class is randomized when transfering

The problem is you cant send tech like a normal object

The only way is by trading the ship to an alien, the friend buys it and sells it and then you buy it back in your primary save

To clarify some information to you both.

ATM with the current available trading methods you cannot transfer a ship from player to player with the intention of that ship to remain the same seed, only “unique ships” can be reliably traded with not physical changes, these being but not limited to, the starborn runner, golden vector, switch ship or other pre orders, the iron vulture cannot be traded only its individual parts. Fabricated ships cannot be traded, regular ships atm will have it’s seed changed (tho I am currently trialing a method to circumvent this change and hopefully after the weekend of testing I’ll have a working method to do so.)

Regardless of this, all tech and class of that ship will reroll, there is no work around for this, you cannot obtain a photonix core by means of trading a ship from one player to another.

Personally I think save editor is the best option. That's how I move ships from save to save. It works 99% of the time

My message is more so to tell you what will occur when you trade that ship, the changes that occur will be its physical appearance, tech and inventory slots.

Appearance changes to a seed of that system.

Tech and slots reroll meaning the other player will purchase that ship as if they had just come across it as new.
