Portal jump, locate system, cycle neighboring systems while stopping to set restore in space stations then warping works best. 3 hour minimum in game play time, 5 warp since last rescue encounter minimum, could still exceed those numbers before it spawns. Make sure that if the ship isn't the class you want to restore point from before you made warped in, dont set a restore at the station after you find it or it will despawn

question to the hive mind. I created a MP session, my son tried joining. Under his option, he joined my group..but he did not connect in that i can tell from the MP menus

does he go back to mode select and select SP?

there does not appear to be an option to spawn in from the MP lobby.

If he is joining you, you’ll both need each other added, he will need to join you from the multiplayer menu (at the mode select screen) by clicking your name.

Or is the issue that the multiplayer option next to single player isn’t showing?

So you have loaded a save and currently in game and you want there to be a “join option”

All that is required is one player be in game (in their desired save) with multiplayer settings on and allow others to join and the other player can join from the title screen

Ftr, it's strongly advised to avoid multiplayer until after reaching the anomaly, and to avoid it for story missions in general.
Also beware of giving them things they do not have the blueprint for (eg hermetic seal) as that can lock the blueprint for them.

Its an expedition reward. Sell it to an npc on a trade outpost then the other player buys it from the npc

You won’t be able to get another on that save but it is possible

Then the original owner can just reload their save and both players get the ship

Just bear in mind ships like the Vector will have class and stats re-rolled

What does 'exploring together' consist of? I've always been curious because it seems like a surefire way to lose the other person in space

Well, I’d like to say it’s full of fun times and jokes as you see things you haven’t seen before

But it can also consist of silent observations. Moving to new galaxies, stars, etc

Fun to fly ship formations. But complicated at the same time

Ah, the only time I've sorta 'explored' with someone was my friend and it was a lot of situations where he'd be right behind me, 'we'd' find something, turn around and he'd be on another planet or two systems away and confused sorta thing
