you have to start a new save but you get cosmetic things you can later buy in your main save with quicksilver. doesnt sound like a lot, because it isnt lol. but the things they give out for it wont be available when its over in 4wks

they make you use a new file for it. probably so we all start off on level footing since the systems the events happen in are usually packed with people. also for new players, completing milestones gets you to max specs faster than a regular new game.

An expedition is a type of 'seasonal' game mode where you create a new save (an expedition save which will be converted into a normal save upon ending the expedition) and during the expedition you unlock cosmetics, ships, multitools, and even companions that you can aquire on your other save files as well

And your expedition save does not have to remain as your main save, it can just be done as an extra and then you can play on your main save with the stuff you unlock

I didn't know what they did after 120 hours and having full S class equipment until I was gifted one randomly in the anomaly.

i mean if i had to stab in the dark i'd say they just don't call too much attention to living eggs because they didn't want players to assume they're like fundamental overhauls of ships, but now that interceptors can be salvaged it is weird that they haven't made living ships more accessible

hopefully maybe in the future when or if they decide to expand upon flying systems they'll revamp living ships and frigates to be more than just flavor text generators with fancy visuals

Living ships are nice, especially since you can fuel them with stuff like cook meat and such. But getting the different components and upgrade modules for them takes quite a bit of time. Throough the years I've collected and thrown a stack of different S class modules in my freighter bays. They are really cool ships, and I think everyone shoould have one at some point. But if you find a dissonant system, getting an interceptor ship is key for later game stuff especially. The hover on them is great, and if you put some phase beams on them, your shields will never go down if kitted out right. I pretty much just sit and tank pirate capital attacks with my main interceptor and do phenomenal with it. That's the only ship that I can take that style though

My question is, are they going to add Autophage "systems" at some point now? that would be cool if there were hidden systems you had to find with unlocked technology to find like lost civilization type settings and stuff

Until they're listed as one of the first three things and the price halved I will if people are looking for them. quicksilver is a pain to get as is. 400 for 40 minutes of the same 6 tasks in the pool then have to do that 8 times to afford one is pretty ridiculous. Should be halved, so players can do it while doing the main story if they're new due to the 5 times you have to wait 24 hours, making it possible to finish it around the same time as autophage. And as well make the description less mysterious, they already label sellable goods for trading, it'd be nice if they gave an actual hint in the description while listing it at the top of the quicksilver page so you've got an idea of what it does. one of my first purchases was a myth beacon, before finding out it does absolutely nothing because of its lower price, assuming it'd do something cool.
