Even if you join someone, you'll have to farm the s-class yourself, playing solo. You can ask someone to trade you an exotic so you can be assured you'd get an s-class easily.
If you have unlocked portal glyphs, you can also try to find ship designs you like in our #nms-legacy-ships channel (keeping in mind the galaxy specified, that you have access to it) and farm the s-class ship yourself

Ships aside from exotic and salvaged have their stats rerolled when ship trading. That's why you have o find other types on your own.

Just keep in mind it’s always best advised to get to something called the anomaly first before playing multiplayer.
It’s also heavily advised to not play in multiplayer with other players while doing quests, this game did not originally have MP so quests can break due to multiplayer play.

Doesn’t change anything related to the multiplayer issues (above advise) but no it doesn’t matter in terms of playing in multiplayer, you can start up a solo session and enable multiplayer which is just as good.

Were you able to unlock the Space Anomaly? We highly recommend getting thru the initial tutorial till at least that part before joining up. You're also welcome to ask gameplay questions in #nms-questions while you get there and join a friend. And maybe also check our voice channels to see if anyone's on to help too.

once u land on it u can teleport to the captain's room, or u can walk the stairs
u can upgrade things there, build on the freighter... etc
once u unlock the material teleport thing and build the tech u can access the freighter cargo from anywhere
u can hire frigates and send them on missions to get u more resources
u can unlock freighter/frigate technology at the captain's room

When you get there land in the station, disable multiplayer and leave group, then exit your ship to create a save.
Then reload the save and use a teleporter to get back.
This is to prevent any interference from others players grabbing the same ship.
