Heres a word of advice: Getting the different warp drives really isnt hard, and unless you care for the small hyperdrive range boost, you only need the indium drive anyway. So before you start grinding away at stuff, I recommend getting that

I just have no idea where you get cadnium or iridium to make the drives, I have played the game spaced out through the years and have really lost track.

Its fairly straightforward really, you get cadmium in red star systems, emeril in green star systems, and indium in blue star systems.

The blueprints are unlockable from the starship vendor at the anomaly

It will all make sense if you look at the materials needed

And if you have the blue one built, you should be able to access all systems anyway

Id love to try and help you with your questions, starting with your hyperdrive, but if you have further questions after this, I would ask you to come to #no-mans-sky or #nms-questions to not clutter the trade channel. So basically, the cadmium drive needs chromatic metal to be built, which can be refined from copper from yellow systems, the ones you always have access to. Once you have the cadmium drive, you can travel to red systems to get cadmium, which you need for the emeril drive to access emeril in the green systems, which ultimately lets you build the indium drive, unlocking all systems.

Just keep in mind mate that it’s advised to keep out of multiplayer until you reach the anomaly as it can cause issues, doing the story in multiplayer can also lead to problems in the quest so keep to free play in mp if you are going to play multiplayer and do the story if the quest appears broken ie something isn’t where it should be, leaving multiplayer and resetting or even reloading the game can fix it, happy travels fellow Aussie!

They've been going in a fantastic direction with bug fixes and such, removing that would send the game into a slightly negative direction. I mainly play to help others, part of that is by giving cool ships i find to others that like them. I'd end up playing alot less if I couldn't trade ships.

There used to be a bug where you could swap the internals of one ship with another, like put the class and upgrades of a living ship, into a regular fighter, giving the organic engines and such to the fighter. They've fixed that though.

Ah. So they discovered how to do a new longer version. They fixed the way a friend and i discovered a couple years ago. Was available until they changed the slots interface. The simpler version involved a friend buying then scrapping a ship and the person swapping internals would hold the button to enter said ship as it was being scrapped.

I mean that's fair. I don't go on Reddit for NMS or watch videos about the game as i like to discover things for myself. Just randomly had that happen and thought it was cool so i started sharing it here.

Why not share it, you probably discovered another method to get the same outcome, in my eyes they both require a similar set up process just one is easier, but the glitch it’s has been a pleasure to use it on all my saves, before we could package tech and when we had 6 ships it was so handy when i wanted something new, and then living ships came to the game….

My method still worked with living ships. It was when they added the super charged slots and split the tech and inventory when it stopped working.

Sometimes a server is full when joining on the anomaly and it'll start a new server with just you. Try leaving and re-entering.

Trading ships while keeping them is super easy. Just trade it to an NPC, player buys it from said NPC, seller (you) just leaves the group and reloads their restore point.

You just gotta make sure to leave the group via network settings before reloading your restore point.

Otherwise it kicks you to the title screen, and will reload your autosave when you load back in, and THEN you'd have to reload your restore point.

It's just faster to leave group and reload.

If you reload the autosave the ship won't remain yours. Has to be the restore point.

Restore point is made when you leave your ship, auto saves are made when you do things like give players items or sell/scrap/trade ships.

As long as you never enter a ship and leave it again, restore point will give you everything back you gave away since the last time you left your ship.

He can't outright give you a ship. He trades it to an NPC for their ship. Then said NPC will appear at the ship you're getting. You then talk to the NPC and buy it from them. It'll be free. And then they reload. Yeah.

Nah. But if you do take too long they can and will fly away.

I'd say you have however long an NPC stays on a space station before leaving.

Anywhere that has a landing pad will have NPC's appear at it eventually. Whether it's a trade place on a planet, a settlement you own, or even sometimes at your base.
