If your jumping into the freighter battle scene there is only one capital per system, to see the others in that system you just pulse around and let them warp in

What KIND of help? Advice is (almost) freely given...although some sticks-in-the-mud consider it spoilers and will want us to take it DM
You could dig up 200 Salvage Data in about 2 hours on the right planet
Also, tip about digging up salvage data...if you don't "damage" the salvage data container, you get more than one out of it. So short taps of the Terrain Manip when digging around it, and you'll get 2, 3, 4 (sometimes 5) out of one container.

Ok, it will give you a location of a crashed living ship to get in the same system. There should be no need to go through a portal to activate it.

I ran into a similar situation before so I understand it completely. When you see a ship that you don't like. Go to it and refuse it. It will then give you another unhactched void egg
