Best grind these days is Missions. Stack a bunch of 'em up (like 20 "kill animals" or "kill sentinels" or whatever)...then one repetition of that particular type will clear the whole stack

Only system-specific missions like "carry a package" or "hunt pirates" don't stack

Hmmm...seems somewhat complex. I follow the more simplistic pirate-system-to normal-system trade route. I've got a "stable" of 24 Pirate Systems in my Teleporter list. I just cycle thru & buy, then go back & sell.
The additional advantage to this route is, it's a quick way to big nanites

If you haven't yet done a battle do it and refuse the first freighter (àsk for payment instead) then go back to the same system after 3hrs play and 5 warps. You'll find the capital ship then
