I've not had any issues transfering from xbox 1s-s series then to x series. Might be an idea if you can manage. But having someone you can send all your stuff to whilst you change then get them to send it back might be a worthwhile venture

The method I uses is I get them through living frigates

When pulsing around you can get them as a random encounter or you can get them from freighter expeditions as long as they have at least 1 loving frigate in the sent out fleet

Spawning sacs and Psyonic Eggs are what you need. You need to get a living frigate and send it on fleet expeditions (the longer the expedition the more likely you'll get them - i recommend 8hr+ ones)

If you have a nomad exocraft - upgrade the scanner and you can search for exosuit upgrade units on the planets (costs a lot less than space stations). You can also buy them from some minor settlements (multitool shops on the planet)

Once you level up enough (do enough missions for the Space Station mission board)...they'll start being offered as goodies.

THEN...you know the trick of stacking up missions, right? Stack up multiple "Kill animals" or "Feed animals" or "Kill Sentinals"... and then go down to a planet and accomplish ONE of them to claim all of those rewards.
