The story will never tell you to get an LS, that is its own secondary quest, Starbirth. Triggers when you pulse with the egg in your inv.

The cash is the easy part, people give away AI valves etc all the time

But there's not really a way, in game, for people to help you find an S class
Two players looking at the same ship or freighter often see a different class for example.

Story first, yes. You will learn about the anomaly during the story, which also acts as the central meeting point for players, so about introducing multiplayer...sort of?

At the very least, stay off multiplayer until you have been to the anomaly

Taxi is the common term to let another player join your session. Because the joining player will appear in your current system, you can use this to effectively give people a ride to other systems or galaxies, hence the term "taxi"

You can't trade directly for a ship. But a player can trade ships with an npc and you can buy it off the npc... It might reset the ship when it goes back to the npc as well but can't fully confirm that
