I don't doubt that as I actually got my first freighter battle at exactly 3 & 1/2 hours into my save (legit, only had 30 mins of pause time apparently) and then I didn't encounter another for what seemed like a week. Turns out that I was pausing my game all the time or going AFK and I was still trying to count the 'paused' time as 'playtime' which totally fkd up my math on when I should expect them

Not as far as I am aware as the game only shows you the total time that the save has been 'loaded and running' which does not discriminate between time spent in your menus or time spent actually moving/shooting/building. This can make it very difficult to know exactly when you are supposed to encounter a freighter battle next...But one tip that can help is to save often before each warp, that way once you do hit that freighter battle, you can just load your save and the next warp will be a guranteed battle warp
