the reason i was asking was cause i kinda wanted to make a bunch of bases just for storage so i could access it in my freighter or corvette
Storage Containers are universal, no matter where you build them

When I was farming void motes I used my exocraft scanner to find drop pods. Usually it would lead me to 1-3 per planet before it would continuously point me to the drop pod I was right next to. But then I found a planet where it kept taking me to a new drop pod. In 2 sessions I've found probably 75 drop pods. Did I find a unique planet or is that fairly normal?
Kinda, it's weird. Using your Polyphonic Core instead should always point you to new Autophage Camps
Also note that Autophage missions can be turned in to the mission agent aboard space stations
Id had times where it'd send me to 1 camp, then another, and then back to the first camp.
How do i trugger the autophage quests? Wiki says i need a trace of metal and artemis path but i dont have either

A Trace of Metal is not required for that mission to begin. The Artemis Path is the main story, you begin the game with it in your log, it has this icon below

What is the biggest possible creture you can find
One that shows as 8.4 "meters" tall I believe, which is very rare
and only a few creature types can reach sizes like that

I've found two species of abnormally tall walking building species on different planets. Ironically, on each of those planets the other walking building species is tiny (0.6m)

Yes, you can only have 400 bases per save. This cannot be circumvented
at best, you could save screenshots with portal coordinates in the lower left and latitude/longitude from the analysis visor

a neat background update that we will appreciate in the long term, but inobservable if you don't like the holo area system
and the implementation of fauna stat classes is a little annoying, with triple S-Class creatures being hilariously rare, and how we can't increase the class of existing creatures
accepting that triple S creatures aren't necessary is fine, outside of the pvp battles where using coordinates to find ones others have documented may feel necessary
it's a bit janky and not too much thought put into it, but it's better that it exists than it not existing. One thing that had a decent amount of thought put into it is the procedural stat variation itself, it being based on speciesseed was smart to avoid just save editing that easily even though people have prolly circumvented that with hours of brute force/trial and error
Also, the update itself is the 3rd "minor" update in a row, which is a first since like Worlds Part I
The stat variance is based on a seed, so you can't just set values to S
the overall class of the creature is a gathering of it's stat classes' average

You can do this by using the Analysis Visor, or looking at the screen in your starship's cockpit
If your latitude is greater than 0, then you are on the northern hemisphere

If you are going to move around or remove those habs, possibly
Rare underwater fauna typically do require deep water. It's likely an eel/whale/shark species
If there truly aren't any bodies of water deeper than 50u, you might be able to trick the game by using the terrain manipulator
if system is inhabited, what i usually rely on for finding deeper areas is nautilon's sonar - scan for sunken buildings, often in deeper areas.
It works for find deep water catches with the fishing rod at least

"The best"? Do you mean which of those is the main story? That would be Patterns in Time #nms-commands message

It may be directing you to a specific system. Go to any teleporter and check if the first destination says "closer to mission"

no, the glyphs unlock when you get to the mission telling you to head towards the core. However, the mission text is a lie. You actually just need to jump in any direction 16 times, and each time you'll unlock a glyph
so just warp 12 times and i can become an living ship?
the living ship questline is entirely separate from the main one
just move with the mouse to another system or am i needed to go with my ship?

Why am I suddenly getting multiple cargo scans when I'm exploring? It's like each time I take off from a planet I get a sentinel cargo scan
I have the deflector installed but it's just annoying having the alarms sounding and red flashing lights each time I get into my ship
how many hours do i normaly need to play the whole main story, get an squid and an S freigther?
Those latter things can vary wildly, but the main story can take between like 5-30 hours depending on how much you focus on it
Class chances are randomized on things spawning in, so landing on 20 freighters in outlaw systems is not very difficult
Squid ships make up 1/20 of all exotic ship designs, and exotic ships have a 1 in 301 chance to spawn as any ship spawn flying around, so that could vary between dozens and hundreds of hours

Hi, new player here, i've found a couple of spaceships that are class C and are badly damaged. Do i need to repair them to sell them ? and is it worth it to do so if i can sell them still "broken" ?

the expedition13 reward, the hauler, the only hauler that can hover inside atmos (well, any hauler built with iron vulture wings also gains that ability)

scrap value is less than what the visor says it's worth, but what bumps up the value is the number of usable cargo slots
just fixing a couple techs wont bump its value, but those two are all that you need to for example either fly it to the station, or on foot quick menu spawn it there

ship class wont affect the part you might get from a ship, or its stats, the (starting) class of the ship you will build is set by the reactor component you will have. at the fabricator, we can only build fighter, explorer, hauler and solar sail.

I am on a planet with lots of water for a mission where i have to build the submarine, it tells me to find salt but i can't find any mineral with salt in it and i got 5 from digging the ground at random ? Am i missing something ?
those stats affect the bonus moves, and how often our pets use them:
helpfulness (+strength)/playfulness (+evasion)
gentleness (-enemy strength)/aggression (damage over time to enemy)
independence (-enemy accuracy)/devotion (healing)
it seems that in order to get the pet to trigger its bonus move more often, e.g. -enemy accuracy, you'd want to have a pet at 100% independence and 0% on helpfulness/playfulness and gentleness/aggression
all it really matters is just obtaining the salt yeah, but there should be like plants or minerals with it underwater yeah

using the egg sequencer neural calibrator - there's a few pinned posts in #nms-fauna with materials you can use. e.g. if a pet is now 100% devoted, you'd have to use a material that increases independence, and keep modifying it multiple times till it drops to 0% devotion, and beyond, till 100% independence, the opposite end of the scale

what is like meta for starship combat?
my guess is 1 weapon against shields and then something against hull
cyclotron and infraknife?
there really isnt a meta tbh, all weapons are good with a decent build on. that said, for example, with enough fire rate, infra knife will melt through anything, shields or hull alike
some players like to have 1-2 weapons, others just 1
phase beam against shields with bonus to recharge
these days i mostly run photon/sentinel cannon+phase beam for leeching
might end up with 4 because cant remove photon lol
should be able to once you have another core tech weapon installed, unless this is a corvette
best tips to get more corvette modules?

hi,i bought the blueprints for the oxygen harvester off the anomly but i cant find it when i press Z and look in "deployable technology".i went back to the main menu and laoded my save and still cant find it,i went and bought a save beacon blueprint,the save beacon popped up but the oxygen harvester isnt there.what do i do?
It's in one of the other tabs in the base build menu
Oxygen Harvesters are not deployable technology, only Atmosphere Harvesters are I think

@delicate mauve always feel free to ask, take your time, game can be quite overwhelming. be patient when progressing quests/missions, wait and keep observing the screen after completing a quest/mission stage. tooltips lower right of the screen can be forced to cycle by spam pressing H or dpad left

yeah, best to just follow that for a bit now - we can have up to 400 bases per save, and the first base really doesnt have to be pretty, just have one so that the game can use it for early game quests

I traded for a corvette module, the offer got accepted but i didn't receive it
space stations are places in the game that will have lots of useful facilities and shops - e.g. buying upgrade modules to upgrade your exosuit/ship/multitool. npcs can spawn there as well. yeah, there are player communities, sorta like clans, but no in depth support for that in game. check out #1418605454300549120 for example

yeah i checked all my inv, i restarted my game aswell, and i cant attempt the trade as I don't have enough modules anymore for a new offer
yeah, reloading restore point is diff than restarting. e.g. your restore point gets updated when you exit ship/seat in most locations. i imagine you might have flown to the station, and attempted the trade? therefore, the restore point save slot would still have the parts you farmed before you did the trade

yep - though ofc, innate bonuses are just innate bonuses, that's not counting what we install in the tech inventory. for example, sentinels say they have a low mining innate bonus, and that's true, but that's not saying anything about our ability to install mining beam core tech side by side with hijacked laser, buffing the latter by a lot

that royal has a supercharged slot layout that's got two adjacent slots - that can be quite the powerful platform. unfortunately the alien doesnt have any in adjacent slots so far (dont know what will happen after the s-class upgrade)
Do you're saying to farm nanites, upgrade the alien first to check where the last turboslot is, then reload and pick royal if it's shit?

dont worry about the scanner bonus, that only affects quick scan pulse range, which you can max with just a few s-class modules

is it possible to delete a settlement via NMS Save Editor? The settlement I got generated with the terminal stuck in a cliff that I can't reach, so I can't resign from it ingame.

Quality of Life: Summoning exocrafts via on foot Quick Menu
- Requirement: At one of your bases, build all the exocraft geobays you want to have for later use. They can't be built on the freighter base, other than that pick any base you like.
Then, in the future, when on any planet in the universe, the actual summoning part is done using one of these methods:
a) Build the portable Exocraft Summoning Station on the current planet, use on foot quick menu to summon desired exocraft(s), delete Exocraft Summoning Station.
b) Build the Orbital Exocraft Materializer freighter room, summon freighter to current system, use on foot quick menu to summon desired exocraft(s).
c) Install Exocraft Summoning Unit exosuit tech, use on foot quick menu to summon desired exocraft(s). Requires access to purple star systems.

fwiw i've got fairly similar hardware (7700x, 9070xt, 32GB ram, sammy 990 pro; but on linux) and i have basically butter smooth gameplay (all ultra, xess->fsr 3.1 native through optiscaler - but even without any of that, just builtin fsr2 is also butter smooth).
are you using Balanced on the FSR
nah, i use native, and on 1440p all ultra as mentioned, am able to lock in 60fps (my set refresh rate) without my hardware needing fans at jet engine speed 😄
i just turned on Frame Gen in the AMD app. ill see how this goes. currently at 280FPS

Is the first glyph spam to get close to the center of the galaxy an intended feature?
yeah because of how portal glyph coordinates work (in relation to the core, core being 0,0,0 iow)
there's a void of about 3k LY around it, and we cant portal to the core itself either, so it'll just approximate to about 5k LY away from the core, where it basically knows it's "safe"
depends on which direction you were going for, but i think so yeah yeah i remember now. say if i wanted to go to western edge, at the core level, i'd need planet index (1 glyph)+solar system index (3 glyphs)+

They're random. If you don't see one in a space station, they're not going to be in that space station
Finishing the story is a more straightforward (and arguably quicker) way to unlock all of the glyphs, and it is required for later content

depends a little. are you talking phase beam on corvettes? because well, there's an abnormal limit with them and phase beam which can lead to really high damage. if you're talking just about any ship except corvette, then infra is gonna be more powerful than phase beam, and phase beam is mostly only used for shield leeching recharging our own shields

personally, i never bother with them - if i wanted to unlock glyphs not through the main story, i'd just rush to anomaly, and wait for the nexus to give me an eliminate hazardous flora mission type - they always start at a grave, all i gotta do is not interact with it (for the mission), mark it (with a base computer), then abort mission, teleport back to base comp near grave, get glyph. ofc, if i wanted more glyphs, i'd just repeat the same mission
with high enough fire rate, infra knife really doesnt care what it's hitting, it just melts stuff

yeah, could be. personally, i like using photon/sentinel cannon: damage neutral, hits shields and hulls just as hard, a proper blaster. phase beam for when i need to regen. positron ejector is also one of my favs
no, the grave itself is going to teach you a glyph - the mission is used to find graves directly, instead of finding a traveler to talk to so that he can point the way to a grave. type !faq-portalglyphs in #nms-commands , see method c

I found one at a space station randomly. It's worth checking them and they reveal a location of a grave for 100 nanites
we dont really know since that expedition isnt live atm, and you''d be doing it in some random systems - but yeah, if a planet or planets in that rendezvous system doesnt have any, you're gonna have to branch out - other rendezvous systems, ones behind or perhaps even ones ahead
also i came from a game where shotgun meta ruined the game for years until it killed it so yea aint even trying positron
some players also like rocket launcher

no, you dont. if you focus on it, you could have the full glyph set unlocked in just a few hours, by completing main storyline: no fuss, no finding travelers, just do missions, when the mission that will teach the glyphs comes you just gotta warp 16 times
and like i said, trust me, using the anomaly mission is a lot faster than travelers

finding travelers is a matter of luck - getting the right mission on the anomaly is a lot more common

since nexus missions refresh every 10min, if you're fast, you can mark multiple graves using the same time interval/same mission before it cycles

but honestly, i'd not bother with those for a couple reasons

- with 1 or 2 maybe even 3 s-class life support modules on, making use of dioxite/edible plants/food to recharge life support, the need for o2 for those things drops quite a bit
- an o2 hotspot mine with gas extractors and supply depots will give you all the o2 you'll ever need, without you needing to babysit them or fuel them periodically

wife is having an issue with her 2nd settlement being under attack constantly. She has killed 5 walkers now, not in a group. Saved and reloaded. still under attack.
That happened to me and the enemies actually followed me around wherever I warped. Idk how to fix it other than ditching that settlement

@late mortar perhaps the other settlement is also under attack? if not.. i'd next confirm combat difficulty settings, and just to be sure, disable multiplayer+goto station+save+reload+teleport back to settlement
I've had this thing at my settlement where I've disabled sentinels on the planet but the settlement gets attacked with sentinels
yeah, save+reload would reset sentinel shutdown state in this case
@late mortar also, make sure that a trace of metal isnt in the mission Log - if it is, could be related

shutdown state persists till the next reload/restart or leaving the system yeah, that's why it's beneficial to mark the pillar building on the planet we want to shut them down in

switch 1 doesnt have settlements, but is able to buy autophage settlement charts for some reason (but not the regular settlement charts though, from the station cartographer, iirc) - that's why you're getting that error

yeah, inside the dome there's planting spots, you unlock plant blueprints, then build a plant on a spot - (real) time passes, you can come by later and hit the harvest all button in the dome to collect all plants

personally prefer mission boards, explorer and merchant guild envoys and ship scrapping, fleet expeditions also comes back with some sometimes. check !faq-inventorybot command (please run it in #nms-commands ), the starship sub link has further details (might have more sublinks in there at some point i.e. on ship scrapping)

exotics only spawn in s-class, and living ships cant be scrapped
sure, yeah. remember that exotic drop chance is the same regardless of system economy tier, and that there's one exotic design in every inhabited system. that said, consider this: it's possible to find a ship that always drops at least 1 storage aug or more, regardless of class it was scrapped in - but scrapping copies of the same ship in the same class will always result in the same number of storage augs dropped
for example, a ship that drops 1 at c-class, 1 at b-class, 2 at a-class and 3 at s-class
it's also possible to find the bad luck: e.g. none at c, none at b, none at a - but 1 at s-class
lol terrible luck that ship would be - so you just make a note: this ship is good to scrap, this one isnt, this is only good at some classes, etc etc

probably? depends on what ship type i guess. those things are hard to tell, could be seeing one or two primary colors being more common or even the only ones existing in a system, but could be finding an opposite in a nearby system

well, it can matter - for example, reality dethreader should have all 4 sides connected with other hyperdrive tech+modules for top adjacency bonuses on it - but tbh, it's not like freighter hyperdrive range is a huge deal

Hey im having some issue! I started playing this game yesterday and i have been having alot of fun. Currently i am in the missions "The Space Anomaly" on the step: Board the Space Anomaly. I have looked at playthroughs and every time i do, they appear to enter a ship much different from the one i enter, seeing how in the space station it directs me to, does not have the "Priest Entity Nada". I am completely stuck and i was hoping someone could perhaps helpd me!

Both of those freighters can have up to 60 technology slots and 120 cargo slots; you will just have to unlock more slots.
From the looks of it, the author of those images isn't necessarily showing the inventories in the state they found them, but already sufficiently unlocked to showcase supercharged slots.

It's possible but I normally have multiplayer turned off and it still happened to me

Not really, but if your manoeuverability gets too high the ship can become unflyable
going from 1600 to 2600 felt like that. its not really easier to pilot
(it seems like we have a similar corvette build)
also, about the hit box... does adding pieces and making a corvette bigger also makes it hit box bigger?
i notice i can fly throught the small holes i shot in the meteors with my slim corvette.
I haven't experienced that much of a difference, though my shields are absurdly high and my corvette isn't that big

there aren't damage sources high enough to justify even thinking about optimizing for a smaller hitbox
NPCs will hit you no matter what and it's not like you're cruising through asteroid fields with a ship difficult to steer or stop

Anyone have any strategies they wish to share for finding fauna underground? Some times it's easy other times it's like looking for needle in a hay stack.
It's a pain for me too, but something I learned is that you don't actually need to look underground, they will also spawn near cave entrances (if the caves are deep enough (not sure if this is a requirement or not though))

a planet cannot roll fauna that cannot have conditions to spawn on that planet
The xeno colony is under water so idk were the bugs are gonna spawn

By processing one piece of scrap at a processing plant. The tutorial for it that's began from installing the Gravitino Coil directs you to a processing plant
It unlocks the flatbed modification for the Colossus exocraft. If you don't have that exocraft yet, go unlock it's geobay's blueprint at the Construction Research Station aboard the Space Anomaly
also, unlock the Exocraft Radar blueprint tech from Iteration: Perses, which is required to manually locate processing plants and waste heaps
if one of your frigates gets damaged, what happens if you continue the expedition? does it get irreparably damaged
No, it just continues the mission. If a future event causes damage to that frigate again, then it is irreversibly destroyed

at best, you can aim your visor at it to see some wacky details (this is why it has a red dot, so you're encouraged to look at it and see those details)
12 is enough for the coordinates at the end of the Starbirth mission
you wrote out the instructions yourself, the center is in the direction of the glow
(reaching the center isn't required for you to complete the quest)

Locating a Portal
- Obtain the race relic item to give to a Monolith, [see this post](#nms-questions message);

set waypoint, marked planet but galaxy map shows something else
another way to get to it would be to add one of the planets to wonders/personal recs, then goto catalog&guide/wonders/personal records, cursor over it to get its glyph address, then portal to it
if you dont have the glyph set unlocked yet, you could request a taxi

C class things always have 1, B have 2, A have 3 and S have 4
SS slots can be placed in any of the first 30 slots (40 for multitools). This includes slots that have yet to be unlocked yet
so its somewhere in those slots on right?
Yes, the 3 other slots are in any of those 11 locked slots
their placement is also deterministic per the thing's design, except for multi-tools and sentinel ships which have their initial SC slot placement based on the crash site/cabinet they were acquired from, but SC slots added via class upgrading placed based on the thing's design
is there a way to get an void egg without quicksilver?

Quicksilver is not a microtransaction currency. You can obtain Quicksilver through missions at the Nexus.
Daily Quicksilver Missions
You can complete one 400 Quicksilver mission per day, if you miss one, you will be able to do two the next day, up to three available missions. The secondary reward and type of mission refresh every 10 minutes.
Weekend Missions
Weekend missions run from Friday 6pm UTC until Monday 9am UTC and offer 1,800 Quicksilver. You can only complete this once per week. This mission will be the same type and take place in the same system for everyone. The secondary rewards will still refresh every 10 minutes.
Spending Quicksilver
You can spend Quicksilver at Polo's Quicksilver Synthesis Companion (QSC), also found in the Space Anomaly. While most Quicksilver items are cosmetic, there are exceptions such as: Void Eggs, base building parts, starship trails and figurines for your cockpit. Unless the item is consumable (e.g. fireworks, Void Eggs), all purchased items in the QSC shop are unlocked account-wide, instead of per save.
The QSC is also where you redeem Expedition and Twitch rewards some of which cannot be purchased with Quicksilver.
Community Research Milestones
Community Research rewards are unlocked in phases by the community completing any type of Nexus mission, not just Quicksilver missions. When a phase is complete, a new item is unlocked for purchase at the QSC.
All gamemodes and players collectively contribute to the progression of Community Research.
Alternative sources of Quicksilver
You can receive Quicksilver by speaking to Nada periodically during the main storyline and/or through the condensed stellar ice pulse/space encounter.

If I get a group of 4 players doing weekend quicksilver missions. Do each player get to activate a 1800 quicksilver missions or is it counted as a group mission
Each player gets one 1,800 weekend mission. Joining it if you've already done this weekends' mission will just have it be a regular 400 quicksilver mission, or not a quicksilver mission at all if they're out of those

even if those players who finished the weekend mission join someone else who is starting it up, they will only get the regular nexus mission rewards, not the weekend rewards that they already got
you, as an individual, can only earn the rewards from the weekend mission once per weekend

Multiplayer is fully available from game start
Make sure your date and time on the system your playing on is current. From what I've noticed on console as long as you trade no mans sky Friend codes you won't have to use the join game option unless you want to join that friend. Just load up your game from the play menu. Make sure that your settings allow for multiplayer and people that can join you is set to friends only or anyone. Then have your friend join your game session

At most, the different wing sizes influence how large the initial inventories are, with bigger ones giving more starting slots. This is only a thing for fighters, haulers, explorers and shuttles

You can find outlaw systems with an economy scanner, which is MUCH easier to install. Walker brains come from walkers or mission rewards
It's the only way. Each site yields 1-4 data, you'll get what you need in no time

Nothing, eventually you'll want to rearrange upgrades. Squares provide a better bonus than lines (more upgrades touching the base tech)
also get rocket launcher its so nice to use

Either, squares are easier to maintain. Start with a cross, fill in the rest with other upgrades/blueprints

Requires Economy Scanner OR Conflict Scanner installed on your active ship. If using a Living ship, the Wormhole Brain. When using the Freighter Galaxy Map, the Interstellar Scanner tech is required.
In the galaxy map, look for systems with a small pirate skull left of the Economy type icon and identified as Black Market, or with Conflict level set to Pirate Controlled.

For trade goods (and only trade goods), yes. For example, Star Silk is only available in Advanced Materials economies, and only in 2 and 3 star systems of those economies.

Non trade goods, yes. Every station will have certain items (wiring looms and cobalt, for example), then there is a pool of other items that can show up.

Wiring looms and cobalt are in every station

On the flip side, basic materials (oxygen, carbon, copper, etc) are never in trade terminals (but may be available from some of the pilots)

yeah, iirc if you take the hab it removes the cargo slot, idk what happens to the items though

faecium isnt hard to get lots of actually, we can find swamp biome planets with faecium on the resource list, and mine faecium deposits or hotspots, allowing us to get lots of it
(swamp biome planets are more common in green star systems, check !faq-biomes for more infos)
