odd cuz i have most items in my custom save but theres none in my normal or survival saves
fireworks and such aren't account wide either, so basically consumables you get at the qs vendor are per save. but titles, decoration blueprints etc, those are account wide
you can go claim account wide things one per save, you typically have to go to the qs vendor and affirmatively claim them on each save where you want them.
on my main save i have almost all the permanent things
but they arent on any of my other saves
and yes ive gone to the quicksilver vendor and checked, i still have to buy them with quicksilver even though i own them already on another save
there's something broken then. when I purchase a blueprint for, e.g. a tree or flower on one save, I go t othe quicksilver vendor, check the base decorations on another save and I see it as "available" so I click and it's added, no cost. and this is how it should be working for you too
as long as it's the same account.

if i find a broken ship, can i apply repair kit and claim it as mine or repairkit wont fix it ?
You may use repair kits to fix damaged components of regular crashed ships
this cannot be done for the Pilot Interface of a crashed Sentinel Interceptor though
it will work on a S class
For regular ships, you always claim them before you begin repairs anyways

That is a Boundary Failure, it has a terminal on one of it's sides

they're mainly known for their color filters, and some of them having colossal flora/minerals

Just found a system that said gek (abandond) what does that exactly mean? Are they just gone from the system now?
It's an abandoned system, which are kind of in between inhabited and uncharted systems. The few instances of lifeforms you will encounter there will be Gek, as well as the abandoned structures being of Gek architecture

It's in your settings.. you can deny people from doing anything to your base. I believe it's in the network tab.

Like with other multitools, the only ways to get the supercharged slots you want is through luck, finding coordinates online from someone else who already got lucky, or through save edits.
Other than refiner access , Everything else was already set to no one.
You should be good then.. but your mineral storage tanks is not the refinery access. But you should have that set to no one as well

Hi guys, what do you think is the reason for Hello Games to not include old expeditions as something one could buy with quicksilver and replay them?
Then players would not feel significantly motivated to play new expeditions when they release, as they could "do them later/get the stuff later"

the space stations appears in order of what systems you have visisted, so if you can't recall the name of a previous system, it is very difficult to find previous stations

Is it true that a fleet of support frigates can eventually do all the difficult missions regardless of stat requirements and everything at no fuel cost?
basically yes. well. the longest missions can still require a unit of fuel. support frigtes recruited at c class and leveled can have a reasonable chance have having 20+ in each capability at S class so its easy to put together a 5* fleet. and combined fuel effiency rolls will eliminate fuel costs when combined with freighter upgrades from missions.
I'm not quite sure how it works but nmscd seems to modify the average by a modifier determined by how many rank-ups it has done already, with a significant dropoff after 5 total rankups.
Basicly what it is telling you is the same that anyone on here would tell you, find frigates with as high starting scores as possible, in c-class, with as few expeditions as possible
yeah, those are the most common ones that you can find that get a decent score. I've also occasionally found high scoring B-class ones.
with total expeditions already in the 20s but apparently they can still achieve high stats towards the end

'need' is a strong word
I would find some acceptable values and only take frigates that clear that. Personally I look for frigates that has at least 15 in a single stat, and as few expeditions as possible.

pragmatically, i start by filling out my fleet with anything. something is better than nothing. and then i just fire the worst performers to keep a few slots empty. when i see a candidate (interesting c class) ill hire it and levell it and fire the worst performers again when full. repeat.
so over time, frigates will also fill up their trait slots with garbage you don't need at random and you just get rid of those?

I'm not sure what's the highest statlines are at low ranks, but if you wan't to minmax you should probably take frigates with no positive traits, and less than 8 total expeditions?

I would look for something like this. With one positive trait that does take away from its upgrading potential, if I read correctly.
Still this has plenty upgrade potential
every specialist frigate comes with the +15 trait in their specialist category
Hey, why is this game full of bugs and why don't they release patches to fix them without updates? The developers broke a lot of stuff with the Beacon update and still haven't fixed it. Most of the patches after the update are just fixing new bugs and leaving the old ones untouched.

Indie company, indie expectations. In 2016 their publiser branded them as AAA which has done a lot of permenant damage, yeah. They were a indie studio then, and still are.
and with such high starting base stats and a low expedition number, it reaches a pretty good score. Nice find 👍

I would try to get a handfull of frigates that are A or S-class with decent stats. With this, you can find a fleet of frigates like the picture I send here, and let the high-ranking ones babysit them. It will take a while for these C-class to become truly usefull

Is there an overview of the various types of ships? Like I struggle with the differences of, for example, freighter, frigate, corvette, starship
The ships that you can fly yourself are the good old starship that comes in a couple of categories and your custom built corvette. The big freighter is your flying base which is accompanied by frigates that you can send out on expeditions.
Frigate and freighter tripped me up for a while. Bit like when a novel names two characters very similar, like Elen and Elaine.You'll get used to it eventually, and you seem to have a decent grasp, considering you put them in correct size order

You can have one freighter (capital ship) and a fleet of 30 frigates

Those expeditions that you send your frigates on, those are basically passive income. You send them off and it runs in the background.
And they run even thought I am not playing? So I can send them, logg off, and come back later?
Now you can invest some more units into more passive income potential which is basically capped by that short list of available expeditions
if you are looking for better ways of getting units, try writing !faq-units in #nms-commands or upgrading your scanning system and start scanning

If you're strapped for cash, get a cadmium drive. FInd a planet with extreme weather that has storm crystals. Sell a few stacks and money becomes meaningless.
or unlock some of the higher crafting recipes and craft some really expensive stuff
(storm crystals are avialable in all systems, but some systems are locked behind upgrades like tango suggest)

But it is just so much nicer in general getting those drive upgrades
if you are strapped for cash visit the anomaly and visit a community base. this will likely put you in a system with bases with "public" inventories you can loot valuable minerals from to sell.

They only reduce the fuel cost a little bit, like for few hours, and dont provide that good stats

i always start my playthroughs with a mixed fleet and rotate the specialzed ships out as the support frigates level.

yeah, we've established that
5 mill is actually really cheap for a frigate, get C class frigates, only the base stats matter for frigates, they'll get to S class overtime no matter what. any frigate with 20 or above in their specialty stat is good, like a combat/pirate frigate with 20 in combat is good for example

the NPC specialists that you recruit for your base and do missions for to unlock blueprints etc., do they become relevant again since you can give them their own rooms on your freighter?
I got 2 pirate frigates with 26 and 27 combat stat and since pirate is the same as combat frigate, it's pretty good
the blueprints they give you are pretty useless

you get all rewards if you have 150 or above total in the specialty stat like 150 total combat stat in a combat exped
i do like to keep a combat frigate in my fleet, so that if i am attacked in a system with my freighter it will come to assist me

Yeah, some aren't timed well. But then again you chose to progress the main story before doing the specialist missions.

you can get them rarely from one of the guildmasters? just cycle through all your cached stations and claim any that are available.

And if you find one that has them you can save and reload after claiming and it will refresh the stock, so you can do that to get infinite of them
oh, frigate expeditions can retrieve them. just run those daily and you will soon be handing them to nubs in the anomaly yourself

diminishing returns is related to total number of mineral extractors. depots doesn't count.

I think it’s once total production for a mineral deposit exceeds 1000/h or smthn like that
You can experiment yourself since deleted base parts refund 100% of resources used
but... still produces more mineral than, having, say, 7.
Its not like you start going backwards.
At any rate, it rarely matters. if you make more depots instead, you just collect less often, but for more cash.

I haven't ever used extractors myself so I wouldn't know definitely but from what little I've heard and know the efficiency decay is Re: miners/spot.
I think I've also heard that it might be based on the miners' distance from the center of the spot, in which case stacking miners vertically would help somewhat.

iirc it's just plainly what it says in the second like, you get a longer sprint during toxic storms, the rest is flavor text
so there's nothing to do (I mean like research/blueprint)? it's just a notice?
different extreme storms give different bonuses. You don't need to craft anything to benefit from it

The wiki is very vague
||You are picking one planet, it will put you in a system with that planet type, random as to how many other planets will be present.|| Purple paradise worlds can have new terrain gen, but it's not a guarantee they will.

You can install them if you have the blueprints
Click an empty slot of the multitool
You add one of those modules to your multi-tool and add upgrades for it
See what you can put on it

These are upgrade modules, these boost the stats of the weapons like firing speed, clip size etc.. But they are useless wirhout the weapon installed. So you need to first install the preferewd weapon ans rhen you can install upgrades

When you're in the ship, you can toggle which weapon is active, just like multi-tools

Like skeleton said, it's one type at a time. Either the infra-knife is active, or the phase beam, but not both at the same time
The exosuit inventory upgrades can be applied to either the inventory slots or the tech slots.

at space statiosn you get one always and can place it on tech inventory

You could use exosuit expandion slots,. Thwy can be bought at space stations, you can find drops bods and use those to get slots

I'm having a bug in the Remnant expedition. My gravinito coil doesn't move stuff. It'll latch on, but the actual item won't move. Anyone know how to fix this it's lowkey completely ruining the expedition for me I won't be able to beat it if it continues 😭🙏

lithium is only found in waterworld biome planets, and these can only spawn in purple stars, which are quest locked

planets with water can be found in systems, that says water next to system name. These are not nescesaarily waterworlds
how did the resource hotspot work. was it that you can only find the recourses on planet that were listed on planet
like if planet list cobalt, copper and something else you can only find those hotspots
correct - hotspot resources available are the ones we see in the resource list (except ones associated with a plant icon, at the top of the list), plus gases, which are tied per biome (and not shown on resource lists)

I've found hotspots before but never bothered put an extractor on it. I don't remember the hotspot icon saying what resource it is.

A base defaults to about 300u in each direction, but placing a building part expands it a bit in a radius around that part. So by placing e.g. floors, you can expand your base to 1000u in a given direction.
Put a base computer, walk to the edge of the buildable range, place a floor, repeat.
up until not too long ago, i used to rely on buying dust and plates and pure ferrite from trade terminals and npc pilots in t3 eco systems, that usually is enough for my uses. but after they added nutrient ingestor, it opened up a whole bunch of options. there's foods that give a +% resources mined buff, which stacks on top of all the other mining yield bonuses in the game, like optical drill. this makes it possible to get like 500 dust out of a single rock, but ofc, it'll take some time to cook the food
im a master chef in this game, mind giving me the recipe
what @wheat cove said; just remember that if you leave the system or game restart, when you come back to a base, if you find yourself without building permissions on previously "expanded" area, just save+reload next to the base comp to "reactivate" them

i dont think you'll be able to do cross save between those two platforms atm, given that they're on different save versions (4207 vs 4204) - but supposedly, switch1 should just ignore the settlement part of your save file since settlements arent supported there still afaik

Can't summon a ship?
If you save+reload restore point at a planet base, you should then be allowed to quick menu/summon any of your ships, regardless of state.
This is a failsafe added by the devs to ensure players never lose ships in their collection.

A value calculated by the game using multiple variables, including damage innate bonus. It's not a damage ceiling, and it's not how much damage any installed weapon system will do either.
Current tech inventory also factors in, albeit differently depending if multi-tool or starship.
- On multi-tool, only the strongest weapon system installed is included;
- On starship, all installed weapon systems are included.

Is there a way in the UI to see what effect technology items together is having? I was told to do it, I can see the border change color, but I see no change to stats or anything, unlike when a supercharged slot is used.
The adjacency bonus is mostly hidden. You can't see it for the most part without a save editor. The only one that shows semi-reliably is hyperdrive range

The borders show up when like technologies are placed together. The colors just signify that they're in the right place.
To make it more frustrating, there are some techs that do not show the border, even though they are in the right positions and working properly

Could be, there are several weapon techs that fall into that category
The border colours just show groups, so you can tell which ones are triggering the bonus when they're next to each other

Exactly. If you have two adjacent groups, one blue and one white, it just helps to tell which group it belongs to.
As an example, in the bottom right on my screenshot, I lucked into a tech that automatically recharges launch thrusters when the ship is not in use. Since it shows a border, but the tech has no actual stats in the tooltip, safe to guess it means the recharge is a little faster?
Yes, when it is connected with the launch thruster, it boosts efficiency

This radioactive planet is an infested one and the cheatsheet says that it's a 'subtype'. What's a subtype?
Every biome has many different subbiomes, with infested variants of each biome being one of those possible
It's also one of the most impactful, making it so that giant worms hop around and trade outposts become uninhabited like abandoned systems, as well as placing boundary failures everywhere and removing most inhabited structures
Most subbiomes are not this impactful, and are just cosmetic variations that determine the vibe and the overall objects found on the planet
Like how the icy dead worlds are just a subbiome of the overall dead biome
Lush worlds are most known for their subbiome variety, with some being glowy mushroom lands while others have floating islands and there's that one that has rocks everywhere :(
The infested subbiomes are also some of the only ones that make the world use different biome descriptors, which make them very obviously different
The only other ones that do this are the ruined/relic ones

Unlikely. While you can unlock the roamer without the Anomaly, you cannot unlock it without a ship because in order to get the base computer blueprints you have to use your ship to fly to another planet in the starting system

You can land next to them with a corvette, then beam aboard
it will do a landing animation, then dismount you. Then you go to your landing bay and press the button to beam aboard

Then there were not any inhabited dissonant worlds in that system. Dead and weird worlds (gold or rusted metal as resources) do not count as inhabited, and neither do any worlds in uncharted systems (no race icon)

I'm so confused about base building. when I bring the build menu up past 300 units I can't build any base parts, but if I build a floor I can build it past 300 units and bring up the build menu after. the same applies to settlements, apparently I can just build in my settlement if a part is placed near it. is this a bug? I hope it isn't, I wanna build near my settlement, I'm just confused.
If you build a basic base part at the 300U limit, it extends that limit by 50U. Can be extended out to 1000U radius
that's interesting.
If you leave the base, anything built outside of that 300U radius will still function, but you won't be able to build any more out there until you save and reload at the base

Do paradise disonent planets exist in purple systems?
Dissonant worlds have their unique sentinel level of Dissonance Detected, which goes against the paradise rule of no storms + low sent activity
If you meant lush worlds, dissonant lush worlds exist and aren't very uncommon
"Paradise Planet/Moon" is just a name override that lush worlds get when they have both No Storms and Low Sentinel Activity (and aren't infested/relic subbiome)
Since the "On-Foot Combat" difficulty option influences sentinel activity chances, raising it makes less worlds display as Paradises, with it's highest option (Hostile) basically disqualifying all from being called that

When it is in red star systems, it creates Sulphurine. When it is in green star systems, it creates Radon, etc

They're for advanced crafting stuff that isn't incredibly important outside of being the main way to craft stuff like Superconductors, which are important for a few weird recipes, including Stasis Devices
They are more efficiently gathered using Gas Extractors on planets, at the specific gas hotspots #nms-questions message

No, you can never find a waterworld with qualities like that I believe, they'll always seem dead on the surface. However, 20% of all planets in purple star systems (including non-gas giants) will have far deeper oceans, nearly 4x deeper than normal. These can definitely be lush, as well as any other biome in the game.
You can identify these insane ocean depths by swimming in the water, which tells you the depth of the ocean floor below you. Also, all of these will seem incredibly mountainous with no signs of smooth beaches, as the terrain system was not specifically built around water levels this high
there also won't be stuff poking out of these oceans every few hundred u, unlike regular oceans
their depths are very functionally similar to waterworlds

Lush planet by if it has Star Bulb. Deep water planet by if it's ocean floor depth reads as higher than 120u deep, or the other methods I described
