Probably a bit late, but if you’re really unsure, just leave it empty. Some ascension perks have prerequisites that are usually unlocked much later on

For example: the ascension perk that gives you the Colossus tech requires the Titan tech to be unlocked beforehand

It also has to be claimed

At the end of the war, whoever has the claim on an occupied system will win it, regardless of who actually captured it

And be careful about claims too, during war they cost more

Exterminators/Devourers will just automatically gain control of the system if the war goal is Extermination
