I'm not sure you can just change the tech type to make it a gun weapon
I think the projectile table or one of the globals has params that define which type of damage a projectile/weapon does

In general I think it's assumed that all the array fields are fixed size because the exe expects them to be, as often they are indexed by an enum. I guess it would be worth testing to verify the assumption. In this case there probably isn't an enum so may work.

All that I've tested are fixed. Maybe under 10 of them.
I built this script while testing the next version of AMUMSS, so it utilizes features for such. If you need to change the living ship mission timer now, use the 3 hour version I have posted in the LUA repo, which is 3.9.5.98W compatible, and just change the Time values to whatever you wish (Time is in seconds). π

So I assume that they found that in the exe the array size is fixed at 9.
It looks like every [] field has a Size attr. So as I orig assumed, they all seem to be fixed size. Since this is coming from c/c++ it makes sense since you can't change array sizes there.

- See the file extension, ".spv"? Figure out what that is. (If you haven't even got that far and are trying to open a .pak file in notepad then learn the basics of unpacking files.)
- Learn/figure out a process of converting Vulkan shaders into some kind of human readable format.
- Learn shaders.
- Edit said shaders.
- Compile back into Vulkan format.
- Repack everything.

you can view the mod in nmsmb, it will unpack and decompile the spv to vulkan glsl text to view. if you then think you can tweak the shader code you can save the text to disk, edit, then use spirv-cross to recompile and repack into a new mod pak.

You know what they say....
First make sure you can't correct the issue by editing the texture, that would be easiest.
As you can see there are a number of shaders to look at and try to find what to change.
Also the decompiled shader code it almost impossible to wade through and make sense of.
... and you can ignore the NMSMB greatest thing since sliced bread ... by now that should just be common knowledge. π

can you post a pic of what you mean by blur. I use it and find it clearer than the vanilla game.

I'm sure lod kicks in at some point. so may want to focus on mods that increase the near lod distance. personally haven't found one of those that do much either though.
I'll have to take a closer look next time I play and see if I can increase the lod distance in some way that helps. I don't think i'd blame the water shader at this point.

there are two other lod mods on nexus you may want to try
don't recall, I'll check next time I play, in the middle of something else at the moment so can't test now.

in normal gameplay there is not a way to change the color

Hey, I have a corrupted pair of save files: the mf_save5.hg and mf_save6.hg files are all NULL characters now, and NMS sees the slot as NORMAL and "Incompatible", while Save Editor skips the slot and won't let me choose it. Does anyone have any input on the structure and content of those files so I may be able to recover the slot's save files?
IIRC you should be able to just copy the files elsewhere, delete those saves entirely, create new saves in those slots, copy back the save5.hg and save6.hg and it should just work.
First backup! What I would then do, considering those are just the Steam Metadata Files, is delete them once you launched into the main menu. Then launch the slot for it (save 5 and 6 are slot 3)
Once launched, just save again, both auto and manual, just to make sure it is all updated/fixed
Only Steam actually cares about the metadata files, although Save Editor does too at times. Not sure about NomNom though, which may not care at all

I've got multiple backups of the "damaged" version at this point. (It looks like playing another slot's save somehow wiped out those two files' content, so I opened a trouble ticket)
Considering you specifically mention the mf files, I guess there is some Steam issue?
Steam would gladly put it back faulty as well, if deleted prior to launching

You're lucky it's the mf files, fingers crossed the normal equivalents are not corrupted
Oh and if for whatever reason you want another option, do give NomNom a try considering it does not care about the mf files.
I have fixed files that way before. Load them up, make minor change to save again and mf is recreated ;-)

i have another question, and there is not a no advice in the ping about this thing. If in the singleplayer i dig 10 copper with the x10 item, so it become 100, in the multiplayer side will it be 10 or 100?
It will be 100 on your end. Other players will not see your inventory. However, if you gift the items to another player, it will become their inventory, while it stays 100
So in such ways, it can affect MP somewhat. You cheat yourself more items, then give to someone else. Completely possible, without issue, other than the other player possibly frowning on it

Sigh, so if I replace the defective mf_saveX.cfg files with a copy from the last backup, Save Editor lets me try to load the save, but errors out saying "invalid object start" in the saveX.hg files (both of them). So it looks like that content is corrupted also.

Monitor 240 hz with gsync
With this rig i should be running no stutters at all but no man sky just fcks up my PC
2 days ago it was running better now its fcked up all of a sudden
@north sable how much VRAM does your 3080ti have, and what setting do you have your Textures at? If you exceed the supported VRAM texture level suggestion, my experience has been it causes a CPU spike.
(Mind you I have a 1060 with only 6Gb VRAM, so it is easy to demonstrate π )

I avoid spinning because my rig is so much lesser. In straight flight I have a lot of pop-in/rise-up as the rendering moves things from "far" to "near" conditions.
But my graphs don't look as bad as yours...

Can you check in your Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS\TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML file to see what NumHighThreads and NumLowThreads are set to?
I generated 2 ships and usualy restack my vital ressourses with save editor but thats bout it

I found I had changed those once upon a time, but they seem to have been set to a default value (of 2 each) for me since, but it has been suggested to tweak those. (One suggestion was to 0 and 0)

Yah, the suggestion (and the timestamps of when I made the changes) was from an article long ago.
But high thread counts can make CPUs spike (and thrash)
I have 16 cores and 24 threads
Look for a more modern article on how to change them (that might account for why they revert for you)

You haven't been banned. Only like 2 or 3 people have ever been banned. What you're describing I've seen reported by other people. I don't know the cause.

A demonstration build I put together on PS4, using only save editing. I came up with a way to add regular base objects to Freighter builds that requires neither mods nor does Blender - all it takes is some raw JSON editing. i tried out something called Ventoy a while back
basically, flash it to a drive, place a bunch of isos in there, and hook the pen up, and then can select which iso to boot
useful when trying out multiple isos in quick succession

This requires save editing the AccountData file to add the reward from the Pioneers Expedition
I would suggest editing the account for all the rewards if you want them to be available on all saves.

Not easy but can be done through modding. If you want other people to see the color then you need to change the seed to a ship that looks like you want including color.

Each mod is comprised of several mods that you can use or not use. All of them work together but you don't have to use all of them.

Hello folks. Is there an NMS save editor that doesn't involve Java? I'd rather give up on living ship than install it
Just need something that provides access to editing ship inventory JSON
Alternatively, if there is no such tool, but someone knows how the save file format works, we could combine efforts and code the tool
Maybe like a Go or JS command line tool that extracts JSON from save file or takes JSON and writes it to save file, and that's all it does

There is, and it's on by default and you have to change it on every save. So be sure to check that when you start a new game.

If you are using the latest version of the viewer, it works for 95% of the models. Past that you need to use NMSSDK and blender.

If you mean does it increase the stats to match the new class, no it does not. You have to change the stats as well

im looking for a mod that increases the stacksize over 10k.... i tried some mods but i didnt found a working one that allows me to use more than 9.999 as max stacks....
im playing the Gamepass version of the game
nmsmb has a script to create a mod pak that supports over 10K stack sizes, I've been running it w/ 100K stack size for 1+ yr w/o issue. Once you build the mod pak I'm not sure how to install it in the gamepass version of the game, you'd need someone else to help w/ that.

@lime mesa You can use R1/L1 to choose how many of something to craft - thatd be whatever keys you hold down to pulse jump on PC.
Short Shop Dialogs 2.2 was just updated, should work. you sure it's not conflicting w/ another mod ?
The other option is to speed up the rate at which text is displayed, still the same dialogs but allows you respond quicker. Don't recall the mod to do this but you edit METADATA/UI/SPECIALTEXTPUNCTUATIONDELAYDATA.MBIN and set Delay = 0 for all PunctuationList in PunctuationDelays.
I did see the timestamp for the update and made sure I had the most recent version but it isn't working. I have 19 mods Total and it doesn't seem like any have to do with shop interfaces
use amumss or nmsmb to check for conflicts to make sure. nmsmb will auto-detect any conflicts with your installed mods when you run it.

you get what you get. you could adopt one, induce an egg, sequence the egg and hope to change the genetics but it would only affect that one hatchling

small head -> small skull -> small stomach -> nonthreatening to travellers π
I believe...doing this would require modding the proc gen animations (that determine sizes of things) and at least some if not all of that process is off limits to modding.
I'm saying this without looking into it deeply, but I don't think anyone has ever explored past the first few stumbling blocks.

This demo shows how you can smoothly change the color of space at a constant rate, otherwise known as Rainbow space!
You'll notice the color changes sharply every so often, that's because for the test I have it set to use random colors for the base, and at several times during the video I change it to a new random color base to show variety
