Ah! Well the tl;dr is that a lot of mods essentially nab the game files (texture files for visual stuff, mbin files for other stuff), edit them, then compile them into a .pak file which will override your game settings!

so I deleted the disablemod file and created a mod folder under pcbanks. Then I extracted my mod and dropped it into the mod folder I created under pcbanks but the mod does not work and Im getting no warning saying mods are enabled. and the mod is updated to work with frontier. any help?

Terrain would be different for you vs vanilla. You will probably be looking at a No man's Sky Fantasy by Redmas or Burryaga's Blooming Biomes. Those two keep terrain in tact, makes changes on the top.

I tried messing with the NMS files, never done that before. I followed the instructions in nmsmodding wiki. I successfully unpacked the pak files using NMS Modding Station. Then i downloaded that latest MBINCompiler.exe and tried to drag and drop the MBIN files to the MBINCompiler.exe but nothing happens. I confirm i use the latest experimental update of NMS as needed. I assume it has something to do with the NMS Modding Station being old or is it something else? Sorry if this isn't the appropriate place to ask that..

I know that modifying shaders via mods is difficult (if not impossible), but are there any mods or methods out there for making the game look better? Giving plants more dimension, higher res textures, less tiling in water and flat areas of terrain, anything like that...?

Currently Argh water is the only true shader mod for vulkan versions of NMS (post- 1.75) Reshade is a little different, and isn't really a direct mod to NMS. Unsurprisingly, Argh may be worth talking to if you want to get into true shader mods

If you know how to do it, then yes, you can alter time to speed things up. But you need to adjust multiple timestamps to do it correctly, basically setting it in such a way, you started like way in the past
But as said, often needs changing multiple values, not just initiation, but end time too, to ensure duration becomes shorter but not too short, while still making sense towards real time/date

The mod isn't working or the game isnt working? If the game isn't working. Make sure you are using the version of the mod that works for your version of the game. IE Experimental or Live. If the mod isnt working. Make sure you've deleted the DISABLEMODS.txt file and the mod is in the correct folder
it doesn't really work that way. Those values are only provided to UI elements that need them AFAIK. So you generally can't mod UI elements to contain variables from other ones

Thats shaders, which has a nice effect for sure, but they aren't texture mods
Unfortunately texture mods tend to be a nightmare b---h with freakish proprietary layering and channel switches and other shit that makes them effectively nonsensical to mod in many cases. As modders we're generally stuck to the simplest of texture changes. That said, I actually have a few simple types 🙂

It does have the function, a selection window (dropdown), and a tiny icon (button) to actually perform the swap. However, the dropdown list remains empty for me, not knowing if anything is actually being selected.
I have been using it with the current Frontier saves, although personally with raw JSON only.
NomNom does work, maybe check the requirements and make sure you installed it correctly? There are some issues here and there as it is still in beta/development

Yeah, should work with multiplayer off. I am guessing it's an abandoned or uncharted system, you won't get access to the Nexus for a while, so you can't claim Twitch ships or Golden Vector, so you are stuck there without save editing.

you'll be stuck on the starting planet for the 4 phases. The end goal there is to leave it and fixing the ship has been made more difficult

so if you somehow found another ship then one of the phases would remain incomplete
Ouch, the thrusters probably wouldn't be fixed, so you probably wouldn't be able to summon it, then you're stuck unable to finish the quest

Hello. I have an issue. I have created a MODS folder in No mans sky/gamedata/pcbanks i have renamed the text file in pcbanks placed the mod into the mods folder start the game and it crashes when the no mans sky logo appears any suggestions please?

@frail yew Stats/Class is only rolled after you finished the battle. You can however land inside and then scan to avoid going all the way inside to meet the captain.

I ran into an issue where a room in my freighter somehow got placed over the ramp to enter the freighter. I can't get in to the main hallway, nor can I get in far enough to get to the build menu. I feel like resetting my freighter via a saveeditor is the only way to fix this. Can anyone help me on how I'd reset my freighter layout?
I tried using a different freighter seed but that didn't reset the layout

Monitor is dim and she has blue light glasses, it's just bright and flashing lights that causes migraines
The warp and freighter flashes seem like the harshest offenders in that context
Yep warps and pulse drive are the worst for her
i think one of the clean space items is a remover for the flashy pulse drive streaks
From there, any current camera shake mod should erase the pulse drive's rattling too
I don't remember the name but I vaguely remember there being a mod that cuts the freighter flashes, and Dark warp mods have been made in the past as well, but IDK if they're current
Try making a request in this server, someone might be willing to help you stitch together a compound mod with all those bits. (An experienced modder should be able to assemble that without too much difficulty)

Yes, that and Dud’s sky - colors and Dud’s sky - Terra Firma. Terra Firma is working doesn’t need update but that is a terrain mod. The others I’m trying to get to where I can update them.

you mean like putting down a base computer and then teleporting to it afterwards?
Thats a workaround we do sometimes, but I more mean without having to do that. ex if I go to a space station and get out of ship to save, and log off. I'd like to be able to log into that spot again
but playing mp wouldnt save that position
