Gumks, do you use your own stack multiplier mod? I've been burned so many times.... Does your mod increase stacks for things like Gravitino Balls and such? Some of those stack sizes are absurd.

You don't need to reinstall
Find GC mod settings MXML file in game installation directory
If not, your mods are being disabled, and you can change that.
Follow the troubleshooting and getting help sections of the modding document in the pins here
It's one of the first ones
Remove that file, launch the game, it will regenerate and all mods will load

Gotta be careful when a mod causes a crash. It's too easy to disable all mods.
Though I'm making updates on Google docs, then printing to PDF from there, so should be the same
And note that that error message doesn't mean that a mod caused your crash; it means that there was a crash and you have mods installed. It might be a vanilla crash.

Just that the "incompatible mods" message is misleading. It really only knows that there was a crash while you had mods installed. It might be because of the mods, but it might not

the cwmonkey expedition site lists redux for all the ones that have already been rerun, if i use those files will they be the modified versions or the original? and if they are modified, is there a better way to get the originals?
having parts of a game permanently locked because you simply werent playing it at the right time is something i really hate, so the fact this is possible at all is cool though
If they're the redux ones then they are the modified ones. Does he not also list the originals?
I swear I'll get around to that. For the rewards, it mostly does not matter. Cartographers had the biggest reward changes, but I made that optional. Right now it just gives the non-redux rewards by default. In the future I plan to use the original expedition files and allow users to select which ones they use.
For the most part, you're not missing anything. 99% of the time it's just doing the same thing only more times (pioneers was insane, like find 100 waypoints).

However in all cases they changed the systems and planets for the reduxes. This mostly only matters in Beachhead, as the final planet is hard-coded in the exe/pak files somewhere and if you pick an older version, you will be many, many jumps away from the final planet.
Another reason I don't love the idea of finally doing it, is LOTS of planets have changed their types and will no longer work. I have fixed these for the reduxes, but not the originals, so that'll take a bunch of extra time IF I want to actually make them playable.
Im planning on 100% the game and after I do that im thinking about installing some mods and my first question is, is there any mods that changes freighters in any big useful way?
Eh, there aren't a ton of "big" mods in NMS. We can't add features or logic, usually, so it's mostly tweaks, some assets here and there, QoL especially

Freighters are kind of obsolete, and will definitely be obsolete with mods in a month or so

Corvettes are cool yes but i dont exactly mean piloting a freighter i thought theyd have a more supportive combat role but they dont really do anything but i see where the modding lies here which is a rip but understandable
If they could replace freighters with super-corvettes, it would be a much better system
Yeah, freighters can be support in fights, but rarely are. Even with mods, it's pretty limited. The distances just don't really work well for NMS stuff
There were some freighter combat mods, but I don't know if they've been updated
I did some research but i hear NMS took a few things out that made that kind of thing harder to mod. Well, if I ever get serious to creating mods, this is where i'd start looking for my first one

They're possible, just not commonly done. I've done a little bit of silencing mods, but there are some suit voice replacements

scaling means making objects bigger / smaller
if you make object bigger, snapping no follow
snapping means object automatically attach to other objects
Like electical wires to connector points
Or timber walls to floor panels
changing the size of the object does not change the position of snapping points accordingly
I speak english. I don't understand the context of scaling, I haven't exactly seen a way to enlarge a door so a giant can fit through or something.

what is AMUMSS, what is for actually, should i install it for modding?
AMUMSS is good for updating mods that were made with lua scripts made for AMUMSS. They are a little less needed than before Worlds Part II, but still very useful. It also has a few other tools in the folder for other modding related activities.

prolly won't fix whatever vanilla bug that's happening either but since the paks have the luas in them you can run those through AMUMSS and see how many errors you get

the icons sometimes are fucked sand ship not. II envestigate a side-save where it's both
Icons shouldn't go broken either.. and corvette's icon repeats it look.. or repats only parts. Or none at all
Corvette renders just generally suck. The camera placement is entirely dependent on where on the landing pad you built the corvette so you can easily get them cut off or barely in frame. Mine tend to appear missing most of their parts for whatever reason
That seems related to clpping. If it what i think it is, it uses "imposter painting". I.e. renders parts in z-order. You know, what can happen with intersecting parts? ๐

Griffins do not exist in No Man's Sky, but large eagle-like creatures do, and I have Companion Eggs of those! (which aren't normally able to be companions but I have made them so!)

Run the bat file (or the jar file if the file extension is associated to java).
When the main window opens, locate the folder that your saves are in, and choose the most recent.

Creature speed is purely based on size I believe, with some thresholds making bigger creatures slower for some types

Make sure the mod files are put in proper folder per 4th link
If they are but still not loading, see 1st link article, there's a section about troubleshooting
You.will need to delete the GC mod settings MXML file from game installation directory
Game will recreate it and allow all mods to load

And even if we did make the box bigger, there's 0 guarantee the game would know to populate the extra slots with more items

If they are, you should be getting a mod warning screen upon launching the game
That mod is entirely EXML files and was updated a week ago, there's no reason for you to use AMUMMS with it.

So, i was thinking about it, but as the way my cockpit is setup it uses multiple mods from multiple people. I would have to ask all of them to be able to post it.
Some of the mods are old and outdated, so i had to filedive to get the resources to build it
Ask them. Though, if you are creating something new that isn't a copy of something else, I say you're safe. Other people will disagree. It's a grey area and you have to decide what you think

Oh if there are borrowed assets, yeah, you need to check their permissions on Nexus and probably get written permission. Assets are a more difficult thing than just ideas
ye some of the mods are to old to work on the current mod configuration in NMS, mostly they are .pak
Ive had to open, and take files out of the mods and ive combined those mods togheter.
I dont want to leach on someone elses work as i mainly just made them work again.

Thats perfect! I also wonder how pheasable it is to add new resources into the game or rare items. Ive recently started watching the show Scavengers Reign and id like to recreate the harshness and weirdness they experience on planet. But I'd also like there to be some rare resources to find and study that offer huge benefits
You can add new substances or items / products to the game quite easily
Making them appear in the game can be easy or difficult, depending on where exactly you want to find / collect them
ex. adding new item to trading terminals is easy, adding new resource to spawn as element of rocks / plants can be tricky
Id like them to rarely spawn on planets and create a loop where I find info that the resource, land on planet and set up camp, journey for the resource all while surviving against harsh creatures and environments, find resource study to find out what it does, then utilize it. Maybe something that can be used as a better fuel source or something that gives me an effect like immunity to specific conditions or some kind of power.
so first of all mods can't add new functionalities, so no "immunity to specific conditions"
You can reuse existing ones, like consuming stuff gives some bonus or opening a geode to reveal some goodies
spawning stuff on planets, Im no expert in biome related mods so I sit this one out

I dont think you can get it you could try getting the seed of the ship and then converting another ship To it

meaning there doesn't exist a seed that will result in these parts and this specific colour combination
It's a unique model with it's own scene, save editors should list it as such

the problem is, with all the new and returning players realizing what they missed, the bot is also overloaded

The filepath is just models\common\spacecraft\fighters\fighterspecialswitch.scene.mbin save editing any ship's model to that should get it
at least appearance wise
Switch ship is standard part of the ship lists in every save editor, no need to manually edit the ship path

Not that I'm aware, BUT also feed through the filter that there's a lot of vanilla bugs causing crashes as well, which could be what you're experiencing.
with that singular mod disabled I was able to load in without problems
will try enabling it again tomorrow if another patch doesn't come
With my published mods, here and there, I'm getting reports of crashes, BUT works for most people including myself. With no reason in the "code" why it should crash. Only thing it can be chalked up to is vanilla bugs, as we know there's a bejesus load of them right now.
Other than review of the "code" we've no way of knowing for certain as there isn't logging to help. A mod is broken when it works for no one. When it works for most, but not a few, most likely not the mod itself as the root cause.

you can use mod managers like Vortex or MO2 but there's absolutely no reason two
They offer no benefits for modding NMS, instead they can cause potential issues
Such as doing a bad unpack of the archive from Nexus, resulting in mod files being 1 folder too deep and game not seeing them
Tbh NMS modding is easy enough you can do it manually
HG even built integration for it and a new folder
gonna try vortex since some mods didnt load for me while some did
better to do some actual troubleshooting than going out of the way just to install a 3rd party app

all PC platforms (Steam, Gamepass / MS Store, GoG) can utilize mods and save editors in the same way
The only things to consider are 1) different game installation directories 2) different save data locations 3) different timings in releasing game updates
is there a mod that lets us rotate the cowlings and stuff how ever we want yet?
I do not believe there is one yet, you could use things like the base building program but that isn't updated with the new models added with Voyagers so all of the new parts will display as points that say "part not found"
Technically fully functional, just not able to visually see the changes that you're making as easily I think

The mods aren't loading in no mans sky.
There is no mod warning, I tried reinstalling the game, stopped managing nms using vortex and manually installed the mods
Make sure the to open the file "GCMODSETTINGS.MXML" located in "No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS"
and change the "DisableAllMods" value=" to false
Example: <Property name="DisableAllMods" value="false" />
I did change that, but nothing happened

You don't because that's not a thing ๐ you can use vortex or some other system to notify you when the mod page updates, but not all updates need a mod update, and when the mod needs updating, it's not going to automatically happen as soon as the game updates

You can try blocking nms.exe with a firewall setting (mentioned on the page). I don't have xbox game pass so I'm not 100% sure, but nobody has seemed to have an issue so far

I think I am misunderstanding game pass's offline mode. It doesn't put you offline, it only allows you to play games with no internet. So you still have to figure out the "no internet" part. Bummer.
Google tells me after you set up offline mode, you need to either block nms.exe with a firewall rule OR use the Xbox Family Settings app to restrict the game somehow.

BBB still functions as intended after the mod is removed, multiplayer bugs out when mods are involved. So I like mods that you can delete and them still leave the changes
Crashes all the time with mods. And the only mods I got is unlimited corvette parts, consumerism, and BBB
The reason why itโs most likely crashing is because of how many Corvette parts you have
And or both the mods conflicting with each other
Well, once the mods are removed, the corvette runs smoothly, and the base parts stay
An out of date mod can cause a crash, but none of those are out of date. None of those should conflict, and even if they did, that wouldn't cause a crash. In any case, mods aren't messing up the multiplayer, I promise

Creating a new part is possible, but then if you don't have the mod, the part gets deleted by the game
and other players wouldn't be able to see it

That means deleting the mod after saving, it should stay modified as song again the part isnt deleted
When you add the mod, it adds some locators that enable the new functions. If you delete the mod, the part goes back to default behavior, which would remvoe the locators

I boarded my freighter and the game did not like the new (combination of two) bridge mod I had added and so crashed. That's fair enough. I didn't know if it would work.
On the way out, however, it asked if it should disable mods and I accidentally clicked yes.
Now, despite ensuring that disablemods.txt is enablemods.txt in the PCBANKS directory and even reinstalling them via Vortex, mods are not enabling.
Please advise.
Disablemods doesn't exist anymore. Enablemods only ever existed if you made one and never did anything. Find the Settings\modsettings file and delete it. Start game up again

made a mod to put settlements on gas giants and other planets they usually dont spawn on, yet when i use a settlement chart on a gas giant... it says there is "locational interference" and doesn't give me an actual location. advice?

That's because GCMODSETTING is a file not a folder
If you deleted a folder instead of a file you prolly deteled something wrong
Vortex doesn't do that; the game does that, and it's stored in the gcmodsettings file. When you delete that, it resets to enabled until you tell the game to disable them again

That message just means "you crashed and you have mods installed" because they don't know what is updated or incompatible or if the mods were even related to the crash. Don't click yes and start removing mods until the crash goes away

I did the save edit thing that gave me all the previous expedition rewards. Problem is, all but 2 of the eggs didn't get added to my inventory. I can't claim the rewards again. Anyone know if there's a fix?

It just unlocks them at the quicksilver vendor

Has anyone tried using the save editor to sort the corvette workshop cache inventory alphabetically? It's really hard to find anything in there when I've put everything in with quick transfer.
Personally I've just extracted the whole cache into my inventory, sorted it alphabetically using the in-game sort button, then placed them back in that order

It isn't updated for Voyagers yet, but that isn't a big deal besides the fact that you visually can't see Corvette parts in it yet (they don't have a model, but are still there as "model not found" or whatever)
It still works perfectly for resizing things inside of Corvettes (as long as you place some pre-voyagers objects nearby to get a reference of where everything is)
was thinking there would be a mod that disables the cannot build message at the very least so I can shrink items and detail the inside of my ship better. It annoys me seeing some amazing ship interiors that freely have so much detail cause most of their interior design is in the middle/ rear of the ship.
Because my interior is mostly in the front I cannot shrink anything to the sizes I want

From what I recall, the site above is also outdated. I remember trying to track down an ID it didn't have.
You can just open the tech table in notepad++, collapse all, then expands 1 or 2 levels and see just the id lines
Or mark all lines with "ID" then delete all unmarked lines
I was trying to get the highest percentages for some of my tech, I noticed you can change the ID for them on save editor

- there's still a bug in vanilla game that strips the corvette out of tech modules related to corvette parts

it's fine, I'll troubleshoot in help later when I'm in the game and can send screenshots

unlikely, I can give you the info which files are responsible for linking corvette parts with tech modules
you could try searching if any of your mods conflict with those files but realistically there should be no conflicts as many mods have moved to EXML patch format
which are handled and merged by game automatically

Creatures would appear normal size, most likely, but I can't guarantee. There's some weirdness with multiplayer where one player is the host and the rest are clients. Some of the purely setting changes get synced over multiplayer, but I don't know which. I don't think this one syncs
I think it's mostly things like a mod that increases how many sentinels spawn, that would be visible to clients
Not sure which things being referred to, but Exo's Flora, Stratos, and Expanse all work perfectly fine.

It depends. Not a simple yes or no. NMS mods are LOCAL. Others may see the effects of a mod, say speed related, because location data is synced. Or if a mod is exposing something in vanilla, that all players would have in their game files already.
If adding something, like new sky colors, for example, that would only be seen by others using the same mod.

If you're feeling brave, find the ID for one of the items stuck in the cache here: https://app.nmsassistant.com/ (find the item and click <>)
Then in a save editor, open your save and look at the raw json. do a search for that ID and see if you can figure out where the cache is in save files. Then delete the array or object or whatever it is. Definitely make a backup first.

Through the json editor of one of the save editors I found, I was able to find the data involved in the corvette stash, specifically CorvetteStorageInventory
CorvetteStorageLayout will be ignored for my tests at the moment.

I SHOULD be able to just copy the properties of one of my parts above, then do the swap and readd my items manually

Inventory type to Product, previously was Substance
Chnaged the ID, amount and MaxAmount
MaxAmount for parts seems to always be 500

Game doesn't load luas, only AMUMSS does
You could just enable free purchases, and unlock the slots in-game

The Goatfungus save editor also has a "Enable All Slots" which would do that too

Though you'd also need to click "resize inventory" to get it to the maximum regular size of 10x6
or 10xwhatever for cargo slots of ships
With a save editor you can give yourself back whatever resources you lost

Unless you have a shit (any) antivirus it's as easy as extracting the 7z and running buildmod

ok, it did the thing, i ran the test bat, and comes back ok and it closed the window, i can add RecTUM and the 2 parts mods now?
You don't need to put anything other than RecTUM's lua into ModScript
AMUMSS runs luas, anything else only messes your mod installs up unless you know what you're doing
The instruction is also written on Eucli-ea's description tab
so put that lua file into the amumss modscript folder
game crashed when launching becaue of mods, and mods were disabled as a result.

It can be opened with any text editing program, yes
or more easily just deleted, and regenerated upon next game load with defaults (mods enabled)

tested 3 times and gone every time
im having no luck tryying to get ultra base and eucli-ea to work. i installed buildframe and amumss and nothing is showing in the build menus

i did the amumss intalls, then put the framework one in the modscript, then installed the two mods. do i need to put their .luas in the modscript as well?

Try running RecTUM through AMUMSS again but this time press Y when it asks you to copy the mods to your MODS folder

if the UBB main file is still causing you issues then you should report that on the mod's comment section
this was without ubb, i removed that, then the mod warning came back, and ctd when opening the menu with just eucli-ea. now its works, ill try and add ubb again.

look for a mod called consumerism. it puts all the expidition and twitch and other special things in the qs vender for purchase
