I did some tweaking on rotation speeds before. I'll try to look at it again

With no build camera. I was really hoping to enable a build camera with corvettes, but I can't find anything to do that
The dedicated NMS team is small, at this point. Most development manpower is assigned to LNF. Limits the scope and amount of changes they make.
The upper levels also seem to enjoy adding new features more than tweaking old stuff, which is understandable. And as a tightly held company, they can choose to do whatever they want, until they go out of business
Yeah fair enough I do really like this game, but I just feel like It could have so much more functionality then just finding new planets and doing quests

I think my biggest issue with this game is that you cannot completely deactivate sentinels on a planet permanently, that is the only thing that really grinds my gears

Just that one JMZ posted the other day. Think he said it took him a couple of hours. Mine have taken about 90 seconds. Then again, different goal. His was to make a cool ship. Mine is to get a corvette to test something mod related to them.
I've been too lazy to gather all the parts to make a decent looking ship lol

You can fly around in your Corvette and blast the salvage sites without going down

What reshades there are for NMS are on NexusMods. Aren't that many.
Couple of dozen, most being years old, and don't know the longevity of them (When or if they need to be updated to continue working).
Also, reshade isn't modding, but at least we can filter all reshade tagged stuff from searches now

Yeah, I see some amazing mods for some games, but it very much depends on the game angine.
You would have to create a custom model in Blender, add all the axes, then add the snap points (which is a huge thing in itself), then add it to all the menus, etc etc
And no one else would ever see it

Well, it doesn't even necessarily need to be a complex model... Like I said, just teleport pads would be a huge improvement, and that could use teh existing model.

i'm getting back into NMS for the 1st time in a fair while and im updating all my mods
i'm going through Lo2k's mod inter-compatibility list and apparently a bunch of his mods that used to conflict don't anymore?
i've checked though a few of his mods that used to and they still modify the same file
for example Small Curser and Fast Actions
The game loads mods in a new way that allows mods to change individual values instead of replacing entire files
so two mods can edit the same file without conflicting because they change different lines in that file

i use vortex mod manager and i manually marked conflicting mods
i had like 6 conflicting mods that i had to disable to get the game to run
and now apparently none of them conflict anymore

Colors are part of the seed, so you usually can't just recolor parts. There are mods that change the pallettes or give you more building opportunities, but usually nothing like what you are asking

In case of Atlas Sceptre it's a mix of preparing textures in colours you want
Plus modifying some files to change the colours of various effects and lights on the staff

See the 1st link, it covers the basics of unpacking game files
Then it's up to you to find the files repsonsible for the thing and changing them to achieve what you want
You should be good. I edited mine with goatfungus's save editor with no problems.

Terrain Region LOD is handled by the exe iirc, I don't think it's possible using normal mods, but if someone REs the functions for Terrain Region loading, it could be possible to do using NMS.py
Monkeyman would definitely know a lot more about those though, he had a few terrain Region functions mapped out for his orbiting planets mod

Anything regarding VR is either extremely scarcely known or completely unknown because of low playerbase

Also, as stated on the DESCRIPTION tab, cannot add pets while swimming (or flying\jetpacking), this is a game restriction that cannot be changed. Have to be "on foot". You can build a small base in deep water and try from there, where you can stand or there's a mod from a few weeks ago which disables swimming, so you walk in water.

You are able to mod the Xbox PC version of the game, yes (even when through gamepass), and there are simple mods that allow you to purchase old expedition rewards for quicksilver
you could even use a save editor and unlock that in the account section
i tried save editing but online where it said the files would be weren’t there for me so i gave up

Unlocked expedition rewards can be claimed from the Quicksilver Synthesis Companion for free, or for nanites if they are starships or multitools

i'm stupid, base builder mod says to extract everything in the archive into the mods folder (there's a METADATA folder) but from what i'm seeing, there aren't supposed to be any subfolders in the mods folder
so which one is it
Extract it into the folder so that the overall mod folder is in the MODS folder
subfolders within the mod folder that are named after game file directories are okay (like GLOBALS, METADATA, etc)
i assume it just doesn't want me to throw the named mod folder into the mods folder

Like today I randomly crashed with out the freighter mods installed so I said well they must be good then fir real so I put them back and never crashed when I loaded back up
But earlier I warped and during warping I crashed when I came back I warped again and never crash witch is really strange lmao
The major bug, affecting everyone at one time or another is the VRAM leak. VRAM usage grows and grows, not being released, until the game crashes. Could happen sooner or later, depending on exact usage in the game session.

most mods that utilize EXML files do not need updates anywhere near as often, especially when they modify stuff that never changes like this one

Regular cosmetics or specific rewards (Twitch, Expedition)?
most likely old expeditions
Then make sure you check the Account tab, select the rewards you wish to unlock. For Twitch rewards you will need to go completely offline to then visit the Anomaly and claim them at the Quicksilver shop. For Expedition rewards, going offline is not required.

I play the game on Steam Deck during work trips and I just copy my personal mod list onto SD card, then copy that into game's folder on the Deck

yup, if you want to actually replay old expeditions (with community patches to fix some stuff) then use that link
if you just want to get rewards quickly, you can use mods / save editors / service bot delivery (depending on platform)

Regarding animals, there are mods that increase their spawn frequency, or outright never spawn, and also remove them from the counter
Also, in the discoveries tab, it shows information about them. Maybe you're looking in the wrong place, or at the wrong time

Some biomes contain flora and minerals that can't ever spawn, but the game will still include them in that counter. If you do want to look for as many as you can find, there are separate sets of objects that generate as part of the main biome, underwater, in caves, on 'mountain' terrain, and in the flat areas around buildings.

The ones on my website (link in profile) tell you about all the patches that will be applied before downloading. The transcender plugin (not mine, Mjstral maintains it) does not have my latest patched files, but they are working on pointing at my patched files eventually. I'd recommend using my site for now since I believe some of the expeditions will be pretty broken otherwise.

the "best" mods are the ones that fix the issues you personally feel need addressing. for me that relates to challenge increasing mods

as an example, Babscoole himself has a mod call hoofin it - which removes teleporters altogether. it adds challenge in an unforseen way

as a suggestion if your interested, an area overlooked by devs - prevent teleporters in outlaw stations transporting you to home base. cant go directly to space stations/systems from outlaw stations, HG wanted to keep smuggling a challenge, but going to base- then station ispretty much same lol
Nothing in the mod will break the game. I means same cautions would apply to 100% of the mods out there. 🙂
Not possible. We don't have that level of control to determine endpoints of teleporters. That comes from functions in the exe, which we cannot access.

I never said it would break the game, just a question of how reliable- or maybe in a better term, how unreliable it can be at any point for any reason when using base parts in corvettes when, as you put it, There are over thousand base parts with hundreds of vanilla bugs already present. Like unexpected things can happen- especially when corvettes are already being completely wiped or replaced with other ships in vanilla

The base objectsd in the mod are as reliable as HelloGames has made them to be. The objects themselves are NOT modded in any way. Restricting booleans in the base building object table have been toggled, that's all.

The mod itslef is one of the most reliable ever for NMS though. Top tier in both downloads and endorsements and been around for many years.

I'm with you on the waiting. I myself have zero plans to begin the Expedition for at least another two weeks. Let the kinks get ironed out.
You can take a backup of the ship using either save editor, but you won't get any customers, since there's many thousands of these backup available for free out there.
One more patch should be plenty- honestly. The next patch should fix of the most common and worst of the expedition bugs. As for investing into a long-term corvette? One more patch would help, but I would wait maybe a few more after that to be safe
Right now, everyone is working on the VRAM bug, because it's so bad. All hands on deck as it were. Probably 6.07 before things are really stablized and becomes difficult to find an issue.
Or I should say everyone assigned to the dedicated NMS team. Whether they've had to pull from the LNF team, we'll never know.

I played the expedition from Friday to Sunday. Friday was fine, Saturday had lots of crashes, Sunday was very smooth
...and it's not going to be one thing, chances are multiple cascading causes
VRAM issue? I've also seen a lot people report it but it's hard for an average person to provide proof, they aren't accustomed to the tools that would show said proof.
They introduced a crash in the experimental on Friday or Saturday, fixed it the next day.
Like, if I had to show myself having a VRAM issue I could try an OBS recording (but then supposedly even having OBS installed causes issues with NMS??? Which I think is insane). Maybe I could get myself to learn something like HWiNFO to provide data? But that's a lot of effort ngl, I'd rather just say I noticed my performance going down and my VRAM usage going up within x amount of time of playing the game

I haven't either, closest I saw was someone give exact numbers- I wanna say 3.5gb when starting quickly maxing out at 8gb with bad performance within like 30-60min

im using goatfungus, and ive been using save4 like always, and i ensure i save it and EVERYTHING but no changes happen in-game. i swapped ships and every save available to me in my save editor doesnt present the change. can anyone help? (edit: i have looked a little and figured out it could be an outdated version issue. my goatfungus is the latest version, so that is not the issue.)

What mods do you all reccomend for decorating and building your base, id prefer to stay vanilla compatible but i can force my wife to install some mods to see my stuff
gBase boundary, gBase Scaling, SACS, and Beyond Base Building are all fairly vanilla "compatible". Each does different things and are all compatible with each other. For new objects which don't exist in vanilla (only people with the mod can see), then your choices are EUCLI and Ultra Base Building. If you use either or both of these must also use RecTUM. There's also Kibbles, but don't think it's been updated yet. These aren't so much recommended mods as the only ones.
So I was asking in help, but was told to ask here. I'm looking at doing the old expeditions, and I know I need to be offline for them to work, but if I complete them will it still unlock the rewards for my entire account?

In the game folder there is a config file (located there : No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS\GCMODSETTINGS.MXML ) that have a DisableAllMods value that you need to edit back to false to re-enable your mods

is it possible to make a mod that lets you rotate corvette parts vertically?
Not quite sue, but my guess would be yes, most likely possible to remove rotation restrictions or have 'free placement'. Currently I am sure some further work is being done, for example with the Base Builder app/plugin, so may require some more patience with all this still being quite new
Not a mod. There's no existing properties to allow for that, nor any kind of UI entries for it.
So you can not set it to be BuildableInShipDecorative, while also enabling CanRotate3D, to then be able to place it in any way you wish, albeit somewhat treated differently as a decoration instead of construction?

It's really odd because some parts allow rotating in one axis, some allow flipping, some mirroring, but none of that stuff is in the base building tables. I have one idea I'll check tomorrow.

The families reference alternate parts pretty much, with each having their rules, likely from the scene

That is not to say you would not be able to just ignore the alt parts and just take one to rotate. It would visually work, although if I rotate to be upside down, for which an alt part exists, it would not be the same part of course, just a rotated different part
True, but in the end, for a lot of parts it only matters what it looks like, right? I have rotated weapons in any way I like without issue, because they do not even get a rotation/transform to begin with, but purely rely on snap

No one currently feels like working with snap points, due to a couple of different things that make them exceedingly tedious

Hello guys just to clarify there still issues with assets and crashing right like is not been fixed still reason I ask am still crashing
Im currently having troubles with my save because when i tried copying my ship to my main save before properly ending the expedition, the ship would show up invisible and cannot be interacted with while missing a lot of parts.
So I'm planning to save my corvette's code to back it up in hopes of transferring it to my main save
is that possible?

The mod may not be active due to improper folder placement or GCMODSETTINGS.MXML having DisableAllMods set to true
If you got the mod warning on startup, that means at least one mod was detected. This goes the other way around, so no mod warning means no mods active

I've got a mod crashing my game every time I try to build. The error message says something about the error being copied to clipboard, but there's nothing there when I try to paste what was "copied". Any ideas?
That error message and code makes only sense for HG
You have to find the borked mod yourself
You can try doing binary search or removing oldest mods with MBIN files
split mods in 2 groups, lets call them group A and B, remove group A, launch game
If it still crashes, means the culprint is in group B
If no crash, means culprit was in group A
take the group that has the culprit, split it, test it again and again

My problem is when I try to build, and the game CTDs. I hit "Z" on my freighter's bridge, and it sayd, "Can't build here", but didn't crash. Does that give a clue as to what it could be?

I just thought about one thing and doesn't know if a mod exist already about that.
Is their a mod where it overhall the frigate system ? By this I mean each time you board a frigate, you get something, well now it depends on the nearby planets, and doesn't max at 100, so its worth having some staying near the capital ship. Also having the rate of filling up and rarity of things being dependent on the level of the frigate.

in a bit more detail since I dealt with frigate goodies some time ago: frigates have data structures that control what kinda "reward" they give to the player
and those data structures accept only fixed parameters for specific resources
Can't make the game do "scan planets, pick a random planet in system, pick a rare resource from that planet, give it to player"

I was crashing when trying to build, and unbelievably, it's Ultra Base Building with Unlimited Base Building that's causing my CTDs.
Otherwise, everything runs like a champ!

There was an amazing mod that swapped tech and cargo positions. It put cargo above tech. I was just looking for it on Nexus, and can't find it. It was an amazingly useful thing, and it made life a ton easier.
