Not possible to have as a 'pet', even with save editing. You can put the AI override upgrade on the minotaur and give it the sentinel armour though, which might be what you want

Best to check the mod pages if they're working with the new update. Generally, a lot of mods break with each update and it's still too early to really know. Modders are usually fast to fix them, though.
I would disable mods for a few days unless it's specified that they work.

A rule of thumb: if you're looking for a specific mod on Nexus Mods to do X and can't find it, it's not because nobody else thought of it
it's because it's either: straight up not doable given the limitations of modding or while doable it's too much pain in the arse to be worth doing

More likely the MBIN mods are the culprit because those act as replacements for vanilla files

Correct, game used to read data from PAK files from mods, but that's no longer the case
Mods need to provide loose files in formats like MBIN or EXML for game files

Their servers are still sending exp18. Also I just tested an older expedition and it still has the bug where rendezvous milestones auto-complete right when you enter the system, rather than when you reach the specified point on the rdv planet. So my guess is they need to fix some bugs in the overall expedition system, possibly fix some bugs with the current patch, then do a code push before they will start the expedition.
Or maybe they are just taking their time trying to come up with a better name than "Expedition 19: The Other Voyagers One"

I played Pioneers just long enough to check the rendezvous bug, and everything seemed exactly the same as it was. Just make a backup of your saves and you won't have anything to worry about.

I can't seem to get mods to work, nor find a solution online.
- I have a MODS folder in the GAMEDATA file.
- I don't have a disablemods text file in PCBANKS (or anywhere).

Modding system was reworked extensively, mod folder location changed, DISABLEMODS isn't used anymore
If you dont get mod warning screen meaning either the mods aren't installed / unpacked properly
or that you have them all disabled, try removing the mod settings MXML file, more info in the article linked

You can't really be sure what the mod is actually doing unless you examine the files yourself
But even that might not give you an answer, because of HG changed the actual game files with this update
If the game is looking for a property that had it's name changed, it doesn't matter whether it's set to 1 or 10 in mod file

So my 12th active ship slot is bugged, showing as empty but in save editor (deprecated so view-only) it's occupied by my first corvette of 2 that vanished on me. Is there any way to clear the slot? Trying to pull ships into the empty slot overwrites and erases my currently active starship.

Old expeditions still have the rendezvous auto-complete bug with the latest patch, so I expect at least one more patch before the expedition starts π₯³

a lot of mods have not been updated for Voyagers however and a lot of mods need to be merged together to work
For mods that come in form of EXML patches, both of these points are not valid
I have found even some EXML mods need to be merged
many do not, but I have found that after each update there is still a bit of a waiting game
on paper, EXML should work, but there are still conflicts that happen
only if you try to use EXML mods that do the same things and affect the same lines in given files
there are mods that do multiple things and some overlap, so no..my points are not invalid
it is much better then it was...yes...but it is not perfect and there are some popular mods that are still not functioning even with EXML and merging

- MBIN mods, better wait for updates, but also worth testing them
There are no lists of mods for NMS. It updates too frequently for those things to be done, and the mod community is a small part of the game overall, so there are no efforts to compile such lists.
Also, there are even new mods that came out for Voyagers, no one will be updating a list every hour for every new update/mod that is in working state.
I'm currently testing my mod list to see which ones work. Game is not crashing so that's good so far.

Also like stated efore, we're just after a major update, many mods will require updating to be compatible with current version
So that limits your options for now
Stick with the recently updated or newly released mods on Nexus, you should be fine
It's tough. For me, i basically have mods that change UI, and some cheat-y ones that make refiners and plants quicker, for example.
But like FriendlyFire said, the update came out yesterday, things are tricky right now. Use and abuse the new features, then keep checking for new/updated mods on Nexus.

Your previous inventory isn't saved unfortunately, you would have to recreate it from memory or off the viewing of a backup

Mods are highly subjective things. People play the game differently. Makes it impossible to suggest as I may like mods to make things easier and you want things to be harder.

Mods last updated prior to January 29, 2025 are 100% dead and unuseable. Most after that date should be fine, but there will be some that need updates for NMS 6.00.
Start on 29 Jan and work your way forward. If you skim the pages, based on if the name of the mod piques your interest, shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes to figure out which you'd want to use or read more about.
Don't be a lemming, pick the mods that make the game more your own. π

According to a quick google search, to bind numpad keys you need to hold ctrl and press the regular number on your keyboard rather than on your numpad.
saw that, my issue is more the keys surrounding the numbers. numpad /, *, -, +, etc
I was wondering about that. So pressing ctrl+/ doesnβt work? I wonder if AutoHotkey would be able to handle this. I donβt have a numpad in my keyboard or Iβd test it π
autohotkey could very well solve this, only problem is that autohotkey is on-boot, so if i play anything else that has my left handed control scheme i would need to reboot. ill see if theres a non-boot version and report back for the other lefties. thank you!
(i will say though that this is the only fps thats been in development this long that does not cater out-of-box to left handed keyboard gamers though!)
On boot? Iβve written AHK scripts that detect the active exe and change my binds on the fly.
You can also just close the script when youβre not running nms
interesting, maybe ahk is different now, but i did have to reboot when activating a control scheme in the past

Yeah I'd be interested to see it. Random piece of info about HG's json files, they aren't 100% JSON compliant, so if you load them into an external json editor they may break. I know Goatfungus gets around this by reading and writing bad json that nms understands.
This may only come up when using X-Class modules (they use characters that are out of range for standard json encoding), so if you stay away from those it may be enough to load things into an external json editor and copy/paste back in

I think i fixed it, it might just have been an order of operations thingy, so even though the file was there, steam detected that it wasnt when it was last online so all is good :)

thing is that error was from me dragging and dropping the PCBANKS folder onto the .batch file.

@rapid cosmos You have to look for the ID in another table, where another name for the ID used in the language files is included.
So ID > NMSBASEPARTSPRODUCTS > LOC9 (if I recall correctly)

Using Notepad++ I kinda just- searched for it by setting my extracted files as my workshop, and finding in all files the word "Radar Dome", then reading that and finding "BLD_BIG_DECO_P_NAME" in nms_Loc9_English, then searching that again and finding that set of words in nms_baseproducts, finding the ID to be "B_DECO_P". That's my method.
this is everywhere B_DECO_P showed up.
as for this, I'm not 100% sure, but that seems it might be linked to the expedition, or some other kind of reward I'm unaware of
That sounds like the other way around. But yes, you get the gist
The Expedition is in the reward table with S19
SeasonRewardTable19 to be precise, lists all rewards
so yes, the radar dome is an expedition reward of some kind

Some items are found in various ways. It is not uncommon to find multiple entries in the full reward table
At times you do not even find the item ID directly

I have 4 prepped but when I trade them to pilots only the ships remain, the pilots just vanish
p sure squadron ships are saved with their scene paths and seeds

You can't because the Iron Vulture is just the hauler model with parts that can only be enabled through ship building and not through procedural generation. Squadron ships don't have the necessary save formatting to load custom builds, they just load a model and a seed

Very sorry for the annoying follow ups lmao, Is it possible to use the Iron Vulture Wings on a normal Hauler Cockpit so I can trade that to a potential squadron pilot??
The only way you can get any Iron Vulture parts on a squadron ship is if you use a mod to enable the parts in the proc gen.

This will allow haulers to spawn with the Vulture parts but the mod will reroll the appearances of all procedurally generated haulers and you have to go out and find a hauler with the design you want, you can't just build one. You also need to have the mod installed to see the haulers as having the vulture parts, without they'll just look like whatever the seed would generate in vanilla

They should be in No Man's Sky -> GAMEDATA -> MODS
Delete Binaries/SETTINGS/GCMODSETTINGS.MXML (or open it in a text editor and change "DisableAllMods" to "false")
That's what the game uses instead of DisableMods.txt now

How did you edit the acountdata, what are you seeing when you try to purchase the items, and (just out of curiosity) why are you launching it offline?
Offline is only necessary when Twitch rewards.

Hundreds of people using the latest version, only post about not working is yours, indicates bad local install.
The mod common issues are
- In the wrong folder. Mod folder should be placed in GAMEDATA\MODS, NOT PCBANKS\MODS
- Bad extraction from downloaded .zip. Mod folder should be named, based on the variant, like "TrueColor-BW". If it is named, with a long string of numbers, like "TrueColor-BW-3655-6-00-1756350917" you didn't extract the zip contents into MODS, you made a new folder named after the zip and extracted into that. To fix, based on the example given, go into the TrueColor-BW-3655-6-00-1756350917 folder, you will see a folder called TrueColor-BW. Cut TrueColor-BW, then go up one level, back into MODS and paste there. Can now delete the TrueColor-BW-3655-6-00-1756350917 folder.
- Mods disabled in the settings file. Delete No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS\GCMODSETTINGS.MXML
Check these three things and let us know.
I am, im using the black space mod which i can confirm is working, the true colors mod says to install it in the same location which is why im abit confused

How does NMs modding work? If you add mods does it prevent you from using multiplayer? If I installed a mod to remove the part count for corvettes would it remove the ship if I removed the mod afterwards. Can I still get achievements or no?
Probably wouldn't remove the ship but you'd likely be unable to use it

From my experience between systems at my work, if it runs on java, it should work, yes. But gotta pay attention to what java version it runs on
That may be easier than install java on the Deck. And it will add "clutter" to your system, may not be worth it, IMO

I just swapped out the larval core milestones. Close the game, refresh the page and re-download the json file.
Unless it's for cooking in which case tell me which milestone that is so I can go fix it, and I'll tell you how to get around it.

Recently i got hooked on building corvettes, I just finished building one for em and my brother to travel together and exceeded the 100 limit, i found a mod on nexusmod to set it to 1000 but i'm not that great at modding, so i tried my best lmao, then it said i needed a AMNUS or something like that and that just confused me more, is there someone available to help me go through it step by step? i've been trying it for HOURS haha

Extract then inside folder should be the folder to just place in the MODS folder
so, sorry for the million questions but when i started the game i did get the notification that i'm running a mod, yet when i went to edit my corvette it still shoed the limit was 100. I extracted the file and dragged it to the MODS folder. The order when i extract is buildship 10x then a bunch of numbers ---> buildship 10x ----> GLOBALS -----> GCBUILDABLESHIPGLOBALS.GLOB...(that last one instead of a folder it's that piece of paper)
It should be MODS -> buildableShip x10 -> GLOBLES
For future reference: the folder with a bunch of numbers is from nexus mods, it's not the mod itself.
Always work with the folder inside, where the name is more "pretty". That's the one to copy

Every mod is "compatible" with multiplayer. You won't be prohibited from playing multiplayer with mods.
The caveat is: Other players wont be able to see the same things as you, unless they also install the same mods. This applies to every mod.

we could assume the limit is only imposed on the corvette builder itself, and not on rendering the ship itself to others. On the Anomaly i've seen some huge builds, and i don't have the mod. But i also didn't went there and counted all the parts lol. so it's a wild guess, really

Feels uneasy that when I loaded my edited save (just some item changes) the custom name got reset. I made a backup before I started editing.
Whenever you edit your save, the custom name goes away in game

Modding the PC Gamepass version isn't the same thing as modding a console version, it has the same modding support as any other PC version of the game and so discussion of it is fine because you don't have to break any platform TOS to do it

Here's your 1st lesson in making mods: modding is super limited
If you don't see a mod to do X / have Y after all these years, it's not because nobody else had this idea
It's because it's either straight up not doable given the limitations of modding (modifying predefined values in static files loaded on startup)
Or it's doable but a major pain in the arse to make and maintain over the years as HG change the files constantly

So you make blind edits, save them as mod, load into game, check in game if you did what you wanted (spoiler: it didnt)
Rinse and repeat till you have enough banging your head against the wall
same reason why you dont see other categories of mods
its easy to make bigger rewards, scale objects up or down, make stuff cost 0 units
whereas modifying UI, missions, shaders is what only a handful of people do

If the mod is in exml it's possible that it didn't need to be updated

Most mods updated since 29 January 2025 (NMS 5.50) should be ok.
The old paradigm of needing to update all mods for every NMS update is different now
Any before that above date are complete unuseable garbage though.
does anyone know a mod that just lets you build corvettes like your in the creative gamemode, except in the normal gamemode?
does anyone know if there is a save editor for the voyagers update? i have goatfungus for relics and it works but i want the corvette parts
or at least a mod that patches the glitch with having the parts needed in your inventory and just not letting you build with them
you could build it in creative and then use a save editor to move it to another save

Is there a way to add salvageable scrap to the ship pulse scan? Of do all of those type of mods prevent you from tagging it with the multi tool?
Why donβt you go to your normal save, change the difficulty settings to free crafting, build your corvette, then switch it back to standard crafting?

The way the game works is that you have two (there are tecnically more, but that's beside the point) types of "Scan", one is the Visor and the other is the Pulse Scan, you can only see things through one of them, not both, this mod changes so all of those are shown through the Pulse Scan, which means that you won't be seeing them anymore through the Visor
Hmm... I can't seem to get mods to enable on my game. The mods in question were just updated a few days ago.
I created the MODS folder in my GAMEDATA folder and unzipped the contents of the zip files into there but they aren't showing up at all

Delete the No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS\GCMODSETTINGS.MXML file
Most likely 6.01 patch disabled them all
for some reason, the game wont let me play thru expedition 18 using the session data cache file
it worked when i used a different expedition (tested with exp 17) but using the file for 18 only returns my stats from the time i started and didn't finish
am i missing something

I had an idea to put in a mod that removes the part limit on the Corvettes. But I am worried about things like mulitplayer? Will it completely break it or no? I have zero No Man's Sky modding experience so if anyone could help me out that would be great!

Just tested with my firewall blocking nms.exe and then I tested with just Steam in Offline mode and both methods worked for me. Can you 1. make sure the game is closed, 2. Make sure your Steam dropdown says "Go Online...", 3. Download the SEASON_DATA_CACHE.JSON file and replace the old one again and then give it another try?
(fwiw I prefer the firewall method, because Steam had a somewhat recent update that made it so you couldn't go offline if you had a game open, and I often have idle games running, so I kept screwing up and clicking Go Offline... but nothing happens,m and there's no error message or anything warning you what happened)

Using it since years, but since a few versions of that save edit, I have the issue that I sometimes cant edit stuff, especially regarding ship/freighter classes and inventory content.

In NMS we typically differentiate between modding and save editing, not that one is better than the other, just that they are very different. This channel is fine for both, though

Very subjective. See what annoys you and look for a mod related to it. You can look at most downloaded or endorsed, but anything before January 29th won't work
Generally people have "must haves" for their own taste, and i was curious about those, sorry i wasnt specific

If that doesn't work, I guess restart/update Steam, and possibly reboot your computer. One person who reported the issue resorted to turning on airplane mode to get it to work :\
Its been a while since I last played but I am having a hard time wrapping my head around this new unpaked mod format does AMUMSS actually work for conflict detection any more? Afaik the game will load and the tool shows no conflicts but it explodes any time I try to load an older save so unsure if this is a save issue or a mod conflict thats not being detected
Amumss doesn't have conflict detection anymore
Most of the popular mods can be done as EXML patches which game automatically merges
Therefore reducing the need to check for conflicts between different mods

installed a different expedition to test if it works (it did) then installed exp 18 while in airplane mode - didnt work
If MBIN mods are conflicting you can still use AMUMSS to merge them by processing their lua scripts together
ok, I think the game may think you just completed expedition 18 for some reason. So you'll need to start a different expedition before starting exp 18 again. I don't think this is a Steam Offline mode issue.
