Anyone know how to use the save editor to restore the option to purchase an expedition multitool? I've tried deleting the ^EXPD_STAFF_17 line but that doesn't seem to work.

can anyone help me? i have the goatfungus save editor and i am editing my pc game pass save file and i want to get the starborn phoenix from the platform rewards section on the account tab. i have clicked the check box for it but idk where to claim it in-game. this also goes for the other platform rewards
I believe you get them from the Nexus rewards in the anomoly

It's the bottom option on the quicksilver vendor in the Nexus. Special rewards I think

Java is all, right?
Make sure you are on the correct save. Each save slot has two saves: auto and manual
Auto is usually more recent
They'll have two different numbers within the save slot
first and probably only mod i ever need for nms
wish there was a mod tho that added black holes on planet sky boxes
NMSSE (goatfungus) is not adding the rewards correctly, as these should be added to the GCUSERSETTINGS.MXML file instead, while being offline or saving the file correctly right after selecting the save to load into (since Worlds II). See image, where I have all 3 platform rewards included (Switch Pre-orders and Steam Starborn Phoenix).

Note: Going online after, keeps the changes made correctly, unlike Twitch rewards.
This is possible, but I am not sure if that would be needed, depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

Why are the saves from in-game (XBox Gamepass PC) and save editors like NomNom and NMSSaveEditor different? Any tips on how to sync them?
I want to open what I saved in-game to save editors but the save editors only show the earlier saves.

The saves should be synced correctly, as either save editor will load what is stored locally. Make sure to close the game to the main menu at least. Also make sure to have the correct save loaded, as each save slot will have two save files (auto and manual).

You'll have to fist make the changes, then launch the game while offline.
Correct. On Steam I noticed the changes would then stick around, even after going back online

I suggest making a backup first. Of course, for you there is likely nothing there in that specific section, so you will have to include by editing the entry. Make sure to edit correctly with formatting.
In the image it also showed 2 Switch specific rewards, you can leave those out if you do not wish to add those.

Yes, that is the way to do it, but do keep in mind that Twitch rewards will be reset when going back online, so make sure to claim all those you wish to get before doing so.

Twitch rewards are verified, and will reset to the verified rewards when online. Those rewards you make available while offline, can only be claimed offline, but are kept once back online. The list of available rewards will just be back to how it was.

Because that is likely where the 'claiming' confusion comes from. We had to also 'claim' the Twitch drops after watching, before they were made available for claiming at the QS shop

So nothing to worry about, you get what you need while offline, back online you keep everything you took, but the shop list for Twitch is back to how it should be, in your case, nothing.

Unless the ships you wish to add are 'reward' ships (expeditions, Twitch or platform) I suggest to buy a couple of easy to get cheap ships, then launch the save editor to make changes to them after.
Then you just go to the Account tab and see if they are listed there, check the boxes for those you wish to add, then save. Go in-game, visit Anomaly and claim at the shop
yh for those 2 ships:
check them on the account tab under season rewards
go to the main tab and press save changes
launch the game
go to the anomaly
claim expedition rewards from the quicksilver guy

I had a look at some of my expedition unlocks in a save editor, and I noticed that they all have the seed 0x0, except the starborn runner which has 0x6. is that normal? I looked into it mainly because my atlas sceptre and titan pillar have awful stats, so like if I can have a legitimate excuse to fix them that'd be cool.

I put a lot of data from those files in a sheet before, not lately though. It is a lot of combined data, but it gives a good impression of how the weather is being dealt with.
This was just some of the data I found interesting, put together in a sheet (game version 5.01)

Maybe I misunderstood the reason for asking. I thought you were interested in investigating how the weather would work. I see now you are actually looking for info if your experience matches what to expect in certain game circumstances.
i notice that my hazard protection lasts only 30 sec in purple system extreme storms and its too little with my setup
other people didnt notice that change so im trying to investigate, but i seem to need other people's cooperation to compare times and setups
i got a theory that maybe purple systems have stronger storms than others, bcoz in other systems extreme storms deplete my protection in 2+ minutes as usual
so when i asked in the help channel bk sent me here
I assume if others experience the same, it is not just you at least. Whether this is intended behaviour or a bug, it'd require further investigating. I have not looked into this data specifically (just yet), so currently I would not be able to tell if this is 'normal'

This just doesn't make any sense. My save from the game isn't syncing with the save inside SystemAppData/wgs. Tried saving in-game and going back to main menu or desktop. Still like this

Edit: I just tried deleting the SystemAppData/wgs so that the game will regenerate it, assuming that the files it generates will be the latest. It still loads the one from Feb 14

I am trying to 1) find unclaimed base computers in the wild (for a blog post) and 2) determine if there are indeed less of them around than there were unclaimed round-room prefab base buildings pre-NEXT (which turned into unclaimed base computers).

If you can not find a working mod, maybe check the Modding Discord instead, see if someone is willing to help you out create a functional version. Or if able to, try do so yourself?

If you want the Gek to look different, just change that Seed value, making sure it is correct hexadecimal value (format 0x1234567890ABCDEF)

Should work fine when up-to-date, but this does not mean they are specifically meant for VR.
I am not aware of any specific horror overhaul. Just have a look around on NMS NexusMods, see what you can find, making sure they have very recently been updated, considering the changes made to the way modding works

Not quite sure what metal you are referring to or what exactly you wish to change for that matter. In case you wish to restore 'old' behaviour, it would require editing changes for it back to how it used to be before, if even still possible. Something likely best explored/discussed in the NMS Modding Discord, if it comes down to creating a mod to accomplish this

When you install mods they get applied to the game as a whole, not specific saves
You boot up the game, mods get loaded (if installed correctly), past that it doesn't matter which save you pick

Hey I'm only 100 hours in and I decided to check for some minimal mods for mostly UI tweaks etc that can make experience smoother while keeping the experience vanilla. All mods were tested by me as working fine as of latest update. To download I'd suggest using Vortex app (it's opensource mod manager for NMS and other games that's supported by nexus mods site).

There are probably other mods, but these are made by lo2k - he's very good modder with lots of smaller/helpful mods + seems well maintained so I would always recommend these.
to do that you can setup different mod profiles in Vortex and then you can select which one to use before starting the game (switch between them when you switch between saves)

you can use nexus mods website to search for mods. filter by recently updated unless youre prepared to update a mod yourself
i will say that i havent seen that youre looking for yet though, so you'd either have to make the mod or find an alternative.
and to be honest i use the middle one and live with what i get
upgrade your mining beam to get more resources, maybe find a new multi-tool that has supercharged slots close to each other. ( mod for that if you want, puts supercharged slots near each other )
terrain manipulator id just live witih middle size and buy metals from the trade shop
You're effectively saying "I don't want to get more resources in the same amount of time, I just want to get more resources in the same amount of time"

The different resources gathered for time spent gathering is part of the game
Small gives you more but takes time. Big gives you less but is fast

No because the mission structure contains actual timer
It will check whether enough time has passed, doesn't matter if you gib yourself the parts

No! Messing with your system clock has the potential to break every single thing that relies on a real timer. Settlements, frigate missions, farms, mines, freighter battles and time gates such as the Starbirth Quest. Just don't do it.

when you are trying to place a base item, you camera zooms in and out
so it changes the location of your cursor
That often happens when standing close to an object. I suggest to stand clear, or to use free camera <B> on PC

Had downloaded a Supercharged mod that would bonus up the stats on whatever was on it.. Was working fine early yesterday but for some reason it decided to just Scale up the projectiles to the size of the ship too

No, when the model structures changed a long time ago, I had to re-export everything to make them work again, but the Executor textures never worked right with the new system. I would try to export them again and see, but I don't know if NMSDK is working with 5.57

You definitely won't end up with something like that. Terrain differences, like Earth, are insignificant compared to the size of the planet and can't be seen from space. In NMS they are effectively a sphere, give or take a tiny tiny fraction of one percent at any given point
On steam deck my mods arent working, theres no "caution: mods detected" menu, amd none of what my mods change are effected. Yes, i made sure to delete the disable mods file and i put them in the right place (i think)
Disable Mods file does nothing now because mods go into a new directory: GAMEDATA/MODS

All of them, when they were made, had hangars somewhere on the ship. If it's not working, then there has been some change
no, theres a hangar, im just saying some freighters have them in like cool palces, harrower seems to have a little docking bay built into it, thought the hangar would be in there

Some of your mods may not be working at all. The only things I can think of right now that don't work in expeditions but do work in normal saves are mission-editing mods

I never played any expedition but completed the story line and stuff (when I was learning to play the Omega expedition was finishing and I had no idea what that was)
Have not played since but being able to play the expeditions to get the rewards seems a good objective to bring me back.
I have no idea how expeditions work and how the rewards work, so I was wondering if all/any of the rewards we get during the expedition will be available in the main game/save (thinking about special ships, special tools/weapons, body equipment/parts, etc...) and how would I access them when I go back to the main game.

My stuff will work like normal expeditions in most of those regards. You can start expeditions with a new save or you can start them from the expedition terminal next to the Nexus on the Anomaly. Doing the latter basically copies your appearance and starts a new save within your current save. You can flip to your main save in the pause menu. You can copy your active ship/multi tool from the expedition to your main save via the expedition terminal in your main save. You can also send items back to your main save via the expedition terminal after you have completed all the milestones (but before you click "End Expedition" in the expedition terminal).
Oh and any rewards which are "unlocked" are unlocked for all saves, meaning you can collect them from the QuickSilver vendor on your main save and any other saves.

No, mods work fine if you installed them properly
Check the mod settings file in No Man's Sky/Binaries/Settings

If you're on Experimental, very likely, due to file changes happening atm.
Sometimes certain mods won't work in Expeditions, due to some HG blocking voodoo that they do.

So, I downloaded this base layout and copied it to my save's .json using GoatFungus' save editor, but for some reason, the Nutrient Processor on the first floor has icons of elements in the Input slot that normally can't be put in a Nutrient Processor, and unlike the Large Refiner on the same floor where I could just add the elements and then take them out completely, I can't do that for the Processor. Not possible. At one point there was a debug setting to allow multiple player freighter in a system, enabled via mod. Guess what happened? Player freighter bases were corrupted, destroying those saves

Maybe someday they'll allow multiple freighters, but only use one at a time. Like with ships and multitools. Would be a much simpler implementation. The only possible downside I can see is due to the freighter bases would seriously blow up the size of the save files, but that could be gotten around by saying only one freighter base per save. If you switch freighter, would use the same freighter base.

Is there a mod to increase Squadron amount to more than 4 or is that an entire different issue?
Can't, it's a fixed size list in save data
And I'm pretty sure the UI page for squadron is also hard coded to display only 4 entries

@manic python There is nothing else really for just quick planning using all the available parts, as Freighter building is nowadays just full fledged base building. For that reason you may as well just use any base building tool you can find.

I found this mod that I used to use when I played years ago.. it's not been updated yet .. and some one posted instructions on how to decomplie and get the lua out of the pak, put it in amumss, recomplie it, and be able to use it.. but im a little confused about how that ends up back into the game. I have both AMUMSS in my Nexus Mods list for the game and because i told the compiler to put it in the game it now has that there too.. ive tried it both ways (put in game, don't put in game) as well as only enabling AMUMSS either/or the mod and it doesn't seem to take.. Color me confused. Is there a good tutorial on this?

Keep in mind that lots of stuff changed with the WP2 update
And the LUA script might need some tweaking to be applicable to new game files
As for what happens with the mod, AMUMSS will put it in the dedicated folder for mods: GAMEDATA/MODS

is it unethical or unsafe for someone to post an updated pak for a modders outdated mod somewhere? i don't generally see that happen.

unsafe? no, there's no issues from using mods, worst case scenario game shits itself trying to run an outdated mod
unethical? yes, you're taking potential download points from the original mod author
Mod authors can provide insight into fixing old mods for personal use but the moment you try to upload it as your own without OG author permission, you'll get reported to Nexus Mods staff
why would anyone post a pak when a pak does absolutely nothing
I kid but in seriousness it's not unfortunately anyone's obligation to update a mod and the best you can do in most cases is wait
I'm not talking about stealing it .. im talking about someone gets the lua from an outdated mod, ifxes it, and posts it as a comment into the original mod page so others don't have to figure out how to fix it to use it until the original author gets around to doing the same thing.
it's not really as about the generated mod as it is the lua being outdated
If I spent time fixing a mod i loved i'd want to share that .. that's what a community is for... right?

Is it safe to use mods? I saw a mod that lets you unlock past expedition rewards, is it safe, will it break the game? How do you use mods in no mans sky like use them ingame?

I've never used a mod on nms but if there 1 to allow you to have as many starships as you want I would definitely consider..The new living ship looks cool but there are no ships I want to lose
Can't, there's a fixed size list for the ship collection, can't go past that
But WP2 gave us the functionality to store unused ships on freighter
To free up the slots in our active fleet
Use that instead

18 slots not bad, put my gold ship got off an earlier expedtion in there, not my favourite ship but didnt want to lose it

What do you need help with? Did you go to github and downloaded the tool?
theres a diffrent way i did but it only unlocked expedition 16 not 17

This is my mod, it will be updated soon. Not years out of date, so cannot claim abandoned. If you were to repost without permission, violation of NexusMods ToS. Would be a quick way to get banned from NexusMods.
Also, as you see the Lua is broken too, so you wouldn't be able to generate a working mod from it.
Detailed surgery required, which takes time.
If you want to take over a truly abandoned mod, first step is a good faith effort to contact the mod author for permission. Send messages through whatever means possible and then wait. Have to give fair amount of time for response, usually a few weeks. Document what you do here, as if you are reported, will need to provide to Nexus moderators to show that you tried.

If you mean malware, you can read the source code or upload it to virustotal before using it.
I used it already yeah, I accidentally set my savegame's difficulty to locked so I used it to unlock it

And then I used it for quicksilver to unlock all cosmetics because I wanted a new look.
But you can also cheat however you want with it to give yourself ships or items and stuff.
I don't know, I haven't tried it :P

Can anyone explane why my mods are no longer working? They worked fine two days ago but my game crashed and they no longer work.

the file stores mod priorities
it needs to be present for mods to work
the game just generates it every boot
Any time you crash with mods present, that file is changed to disable all mods. Deleting the file just resets that value.
I figured folks here might know,
I want to find out the number or minimum number of unclaimed base computers in the wild (what used to be the round-room starter bases before NEXT) are generated on any given world.
Is there some data browser or some such that would make this something I can find, myself?
I am trying to determine if there are many less of them on current worlds than there were round-room starter bases before NEXT.

hey, does anyone here use a save editor? i saw a save editor called NomNom but running it through a virus scanner it flagged the nexus download as malware. are there any that are safe?
nomnom is safe
you are free to not use anything
NMSSE runs on Java and uses a bat file to launch so your whatever scanner will flag it as well
it's generally what happens when a program is literally designed to make changes to other files
