If you're thinking of clicking in Discovery tab to put a pin on a planet so a game would build a target point in the space, no such mod exists

It did, I had to update almost every mod I use
Only a couple of the files changed would cause a crash with non-updated mods. Most of it would be a problem with the files missing data that are part of HG bug fixes. So, as mentioned, always update mods after an NMS update and you can't go wrong. Part of the mechanics for how modding is implemented in NMS.

Yeah, probably not modding those two files. It was one global and something else, but I can remember now. It's why a new build of MBINCompiler, 4.43.0.1, had to be made a couple of experimental releases ago. So, you'd just be missing value changes HG made to fix many of the bugs in the release notes.

This would only affect the space palettes. If you want darker in-general, less of a mod thing. In that case, edit the graphics settings to turn down Gamma. Can also adjust your monitor to bring down brightness and saturation.
Mods can only adjust on a per file basis and there's a few dozens palette (color) files on a per usage basis (space color, night sky color, day sky colors, etc), some with tens of thousands of entries.
Then there all the things that don't use the color palette files and instead are based on TEXTURE files or shaders. lol
Now you know where there hasn't been, isn't, and won't be a mod to make the game darker overall, just specific facets.

I have a problem xD I didn't encounter any freighter rescue event after 10 hours of solid gameplay and over 20 warps so I installed a mod that should make them appear once per warp but it doesn't work anyway. Is there any working mod that could fix that? I just want a venator at all cost at this point idc

ah yes, now I remember, the first freighter event is a regular freighter always, you only start to see capital freighter AFTER you already have seen the first rescue
I mean I already had a bunch of them but when I finally learnt how it works they stopped appearing even after way over 3 hours and warping a dozen times it seems like the game was bugged or something. Im glad it works now, sadly I got the smallest venator
iirc they only happen when you warp to a system you've never been before

the first 4 warps can be anywhere, but the fifth needs to be on a system you've never been before, at least that's how I remember it working

Each save you see in game is actually composed of 2 save files, one for manual save (restore point) and one for automatic save
So maybe what hapened is, you edited to manual save, but game loaded the auto save because it was more recent

@lime mesa Just noticed you asking about speeding up the Starbirth parts. Sadly enough, Mac has no modding possible yet, but you could have a look at the JSON to find mission timers for these quests. I have to help someone else first, but you are looking for 'timestamps', where it helps to have the current mission for it selected when looking in JSON. I can provide more info in a bit if you wish. Make a backup just in case

@lime mesa The CurrentMissionID can then be used to check MissionProgress where I believe you could make an edit to speed things up. Both are found within PlayerStateData. I am not able to check what it looks like again at the moment, as I no longer have a save with these missions active. But I can suggest what to change if you are able to show me what data is present there
If I recall correctly, there should be some timestamp (Epoch time in seconds) that can be altered to fool it (either starting date/time, or ending date/time)
Yes, PlayerStateData > CurrentMissionID, copy the ID and then do a search for the ID in PlayerStateData > MissionProgress and see what data is shown with it
I prolly wouldn't, and if it has ^ in front, I'd lose that too in a search.
Just make sure to check your search settings there too
So with PlayerStateData expanded, you then select MissionProgress on the left. Then you click in the right side data and press <ctrl> + F to do a search (assuming this works with Mac too?)

I dont think there is any way to do that
Files are packaged into .pak files, which can not really be accessed until extracted. There are ways to find out in which .pak they exist, which can be useful in some cases. Decompiling is then still required to get to a format you can understand to easily edit.
i know, how to decompile pak files. I just wondered how to know in which pak file a specific EXML file is.
I believe NMSMB a C# tool is able to do this. I suggest you have a look around in the Modding Discord. Many helpful users over there willing to assist and answer questions

@maiden meteor There is a save editor called NomNom, which can do the transfer of save files from Game Pass to Steam. For a link to this save editor, see the pins in this channel
Currently it requires a bit of extra work to get the required info from your save files, as it is not detecting it automatically at the moment. Feel free to ask here how to get this info. NomNom is planned to be updated soon, which may fix this minor issue.
The info required is UserID (UID/LID) and username (USN) basically, from both platforms before being able to transfer.
So i only need the save files i got before and userid and name for both platforms?
You only need the save files, in which we can most likely find the info for the Game Pass side of the transfer. For Steam it is easy to get this info.
It is probably easier to understand once you have NomNom installed.

No problem. 🙂 After you remove the objects, make sure your game saves. Then can exit the game and take the remover helper .pak out of MODS and put the regular UBB one back into MODS.
also, I think it would be funny to place a space station somewhere but they're so big that I can't actually place it without one error or another
The above, temporarily, changes all UBB objects into cubes, which have a good collision, so can be deleted.

People who create mods call themselves modders, but many who just play with mods call themselves the same.
Took a very quick look and the only propertry I see that can 100% tagged to flattening is FlatteningSizes. An enum with one entry, set to a default of 2. Probably radius.

Let's try this. Ever really wanted to use two mods, but one wouldn't work, because both mods were affecting the same game file?
Lua scripts for mods and AMUMSS to process are the answer to that dilema. See page 8, how to merge/combine mods.
Quite literally, ~8000 players currently use this, so can you. Makes up for the severe shortcomings of vortex.
Vortex doesn't check for conflicts, so if you do have conflicting .paks in your MODS folder, many of them probably aren't actually working. Vortex won't tell you if a mod is old enough (not updated) to cause game crashes. AMUMSS won't do the later either, BUT is the tool used to update a large number of mods, as long as they have Luas scripts, yourself, without waiting on the mod author.

Nah, probably just didn't have good documentation at the time. #nms-modding message try this, simple, step by step. Don't skip steps, don't blow them off. Everything in the install portion is based on avoiding running into pitfalls and issues. If you have questions or issues, just ask. A good deal of effort has gone into simplifying parts of the user experience lately. Can only simplify so much, but I believe it's now much improved.

But nothing too drastic, UI is one of those categories that not many mods exist for
it's also one of the harder things to mod
@fiery umbra The files are convoluted, with not much labeled well (if at all), and no good external viewer. Trying to correlate 54000 lines of this
in just a single file with what's going on in-game, takes a rediculous amount of time. Make a small change, go in-game to check results, exit game, another change....repeat many dozens of times to adjust just one thing.
And all that for a thing most people do not care about

Specifically, I was in a party and stupidly walked into my friend's settlement (to use his teleporter to go back home)
Now the game thinks I discovered a settlement, gave me an in game achievement popup, added a quest and markers for that quest. I hate being boosted in games, and I want to revert that progress.

No mod for that, that will be fixed in the next patch
Fixed an issue that could cause all players in the system to lose standing when another player destroyed civilian freighters.

Inside will be MBIN files
Drag/drop mbin onto MBINCompiler to decompile into human readable EXML files
Edit exml with a text editor
Drag/drop modified exml to turn back to mbin
Drag/drop all back onto psarctool to re-pak
That's the gist of it

Added new pirate freighter warp effects. Salvaging Atlas Multitools now awards Void Motes. Fixed a rare hang that could occur when loading a save on Xbox. Fixed some untranslated pirate name in empty systems.

Mostly affects amount of info displayed on the console and in the log. More info = more overhead. Lean is fastest, but can be lacking too much info if something doesn't go right. 🙂 For a single small script, we're not talking vast amounts of time differences between the three. A fraction of a second.

After being modified, mod .paks would need to go into your NMS install folder\GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS
That's NMSPE, an add on program for AMUMSS, used to extract/decompile game files and to do searches in the game files. Not for editing game file

Since you have amumss now, you can do a more automated method to extract/decompile .pak contents
Place a .pak into AMUMSS\ModScript. Run buildmod.bat. It'll extract the contents of the .pak and decompile the MBINs for you. Output will be in AMUMSS\TOOLS\UNPACKED_DECOMPILED_PAKs

Not that I'm aware. Looks like a base game mechanic between the .exe and save file, so wouldn't be a way for a mod to affect this. You don't have to feed, but the pet will become hungry and unhappy.

Hi, i have a sligh issue with the new expedition, yesterday my computer got fried due a thunder storm (a lightning hit the line, fried the computer and i still don't have energy back at home) and i will surely not get the new parts before the end of the expedition, can someone send a tutorial/help to be able to unlock the rewards later? i'm not happy with that, but i know it's possible :/

You'll have three options to get the rewards without completing the Expedition. 2 are mods, Season Reward Unlocker and Consumerism
The other option is to use one of the two save editors, Goatfungus Save Editor or NomNom
can unlock them with SE kind a pain to click on them all tho but if you dont wanna do the mission its good

Then most likely, you have mod conflicts. More than one .pak that has the same game file in in. Game can only use one. Last loaded "wins". Run _Check_CONFLICTS_in_MODS.bat in the AMUMSS folder

Yep, but a lot are hardcoded, specifically due to save file limitations. Occasionally HG figures out a way of increasing data limits in the saves, like when max ships went from 9 to 12, but I think they had to reduce data elsewhere in the saves to make that happen and always a concern of corrupting players saves, which is a big no no. 🙂
