I would suggest to download NMSSE (goatfungus), because it has updated to the current version of the game. An other good alternative would be NomNom, which should hopefully soon follow being updated as well.

you still need to complete atlas questline but if youre doing this after the expedition you should already be at or close to magellan so its super quick to complete
@ornate cove make sure you do it to the T, if you mis-type or delete something you arent supposed to it can corrupt your save file
double check before you save after each alteration as a general rule of thumb

Hey I read up that when you are on a new save I shoudnt add a new ship through save editor because it messes with the story and you can progress is that true?
If you're just startign with a game, just pick either the Relaxed or Creative modes
Dont bother with save editors or saves from web or mods
Just play the game on lowest difficulty mode and learn stuff

Sometimes it will run (whatever part of the game...on planet...in warp tunnel etc.) the game when "tabbed out". Sometimes not. Most of time for me it runs. For others it's opposite. 🤷♂️ For some never.

I updated my unpacker script
I need to use a save editor to delete an invisible base computer (Because I'm an idiot and missed a step in building my orbital base.) How do I setup the save editor and remove the base computer?
I'm using it now but it says that any base with ObjectID Base_FLAG is fine, but all my bases have them? Meaning they're apparently not glitched. But they are.
Was it built at a high altitude?

Yeah
If you built the base too high, it won't render. You'll need to find that base by looking at the base name at the end of the base entries in save editor, then just delete the whole contents of that base number in the editor pane and save.

Yes you can, Steam Deck is just a PC . You have access to the games installation folder to put mods in.
Dunno about save editor working on Linux, but you could just save edit on a Windows PC and have the save synced via Steam Cloud

My problem this time was caused by "Item Stack Size Multiplier" uploaded to Nex*^ mods by Hahnsolo5314 mod#2766 10x file

What I’m saying is you can load NMS models into blender to then export or do whatever you are going to do with the final model.
The NMS model contains many model pieces for many models. You will have to choose the parts you want.

Deleting any of the settings files will have them regenerate when the game is launched.

if there is a "edit raw json" option, open it and go searching for PersistentPlayerBases
locate the base you want to paste your build into and replace all the code with the code that the base builder app gave you

AMUMSS does not offer such functionality
AMUMSS is a mod builder, it takes a LUA script (think of it like a crafting recipe) and follows it's instructions to modify game files on your PC to build a modified version of them to use as a mod
AMUMSS has no connection to Nexus Mods, it will not check whether a mod needs to be updated
Always assume game updates = having to update your mods

I've run NMS game mods on my Deck, which is Linux.
You do have to make sure the mods you're using are up to date. Not all have been updated. So it depends on what you're running.

I thought I deleted that file
DISABLEMODS.TXT prevents mods from loading, even if there are any in the correct folder path; iow, to figure out whether you're crashing (solely) because of outdated mods or not
freighter base layout has to be accurately copied over into the json (iow, afaik, json editor needs to be used)

sorry for the late reply. uhm, i think so, it's basically just making sure that you're copying the entire thing that's needed, and that you're pasting it correctly over your save's freighter base layout json code

yep, so you basically just get the save editor working first, then open your save, then goto raw json and find your current freighter base code

It's a loading order thing
Not really, as it uses 'seeding' to change appearance. You could look for a seed value that results in looks/stats you like and make the change accordingly. I suggest you check the discord below

Added it through save editor and saved just like any other save editor expedition item.
Ship inventory isnt full, I still got like 3 slots in my freighter.

you don't add the vector, you unlock the reward, you still need to go to the npc

Where that last folder is a folder that contains containers.index, if that is the case, clicking 'Open' to specify that folder should make it work and detect your saves

How to run save editor? When I try to open the .bat file all I see is a small cmd like window that shuts down almost immediately.

If the same happens, when running the .bat file, it may be something preventing it from launching. Possibly your Anti virus or other security present

I would not recommend disabling Windows Defender
If need be, perhaps allow the application instead.

Coordinate viewer shows details of your current location. So copy that, or make a screenshot.
Then you can use that on the other save
I would make sure to get the galaxy and the galactic coordinates. The glyphs can be extracted from that, so are not as important

When you load the other save and open Coordinate Viewer, paste the galactic coordinates and click search. Then it shows the result, and you only have to make sure you also select the correct Galaxy
After that you click Save/Warp and close it, then save once more on the Main tab.
You should then spawn in the exact same system.

It's a mod builder system
People can write scripts in LUA langauge, AMUMSS processes them to build a mod based on current game files on your PC
LUA script is like a cooking recipie, AMUMSS is the cook, game files are ingridients
And you end up with a tasty dish that is a mod that is compatible with the current game version

NMS modding is not that convoluted to require a use of mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2
All you need to do is copy and paste files into a dedicated folder
Neither of mod managers is able to detect mod conflicts based on how mods are packed

Vortex can only check if the version you downloaded / installed is the same as latest version on the Nexus

How do I use the save editor to change the bridge and landing pad color? They're both stuck as red and I can't recolor them.
These parts can not be changed colour. Not sure if there is a mod that allows this to happen. I suggest to report the issue instead.

@lime mesa I assume you are not talking about the freighter pads, as they are inside (hangar). The regular landing pad can be changed colour. The alternative one, might not have that possible

Sadly enough, the colour is also repeated with some of the features visible on top when creating your freighter base. So unless I cover it all with rooms. The theme I have going doesn't like red, so I am annoyed as well

Then, also in PCBANKS, delete or rename the file called DISABLEMODS.TXT

Can do whatever the game allows for, which has limits We only have the ability to mod local game files, so doesn't really interfere with others. Can't add really new things, mostly value changes for existing and some model skinning. If you're griefing, HelloGames will remove you in quick order.

- i got latest for amumss (4.2.1.4w - installed as 4.2.1.0 or something)
- ran buildmod.bat (updated, installed everything asked for)
- exception exists
- restarted
- no quarantined items to restore
- followed install instructions from nexusmods txt file
- everything else has installed but fails to locate the mbincompiler.exe (it has also found the steam files)
- also tried to reinstall to different location in case antivirus interfered, but didnt help
- search on this discord for "missing mbincompiler", "mbincompiler.exe does not exist", and several other terms, but nothing showed, which doesnt make sense, surely this has happened before?
- have: modded steam games before (and use powershell/cmd to make and update minecraft modpacks)

In simpliest case scenario, you take the LUA script of the mod you want to compile, put it in MODSCRIPT directory, run the BUILDMOD script and press a couple of keys
The generated PAK file for mod will be put in the game's MODS directory
right - ive been downloading all files for the mods i wanted (that i saw in a 5 minute search) not knowing which i would need (pak seemed to be the actual mods, but wasnt sure about scripts - though i know about those from my mc modpacking time with powershell)
Game only cares about PAK files placed in the MODS folder
LUA files are only for AMUMSS
Think of them as crafting recipies for mods
AMUMSS takes that recipe, follows its instructions to modify game files, and packs the modified files into a PAK archive

any general warnings for modding the game? i love some of these mod ideas, and generally dont play with multiplayer on (though i do see others in the anomoly)
Mods work with multiplayer, it's just a matter of what kind of data is send / synced between players
Custom textures, models are local
Whereas player location or damage numbers are shared, so players will see effects of those mods
As for general warnings, just keep the mods updated, whether by downloading new versions from Nexus or compiling them yourself with AMUMSS and you'll be fine

lyr's tweaks lets you have a ship upgrade/scrap station inside your freighter too
