There is not a mod for that. It's theoretically possible, I think, but would require a ton of work and is far outside reasonable bounds.

Maybe you are not finding the location because 'Library' is a hidden folder. You can alternatively use 'Finder' and use CMD+Shift+G to paste the full path in the prompt, which requires to replace <yourname> of course

It just explains how to unhide the Library folder is a few ways. As for your save file location, <yourname> is your Mac username, while the last part uses your Steam64ID

For save editing you got either NomNom SE or Goatfungus SE (SE stands for save editor)
NomNom wasn't updated in quite some time, Goatfungus wasn't updated recently, but still can be used if you know what you're doing

As for mods - you don't need to install any mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer to use mods
All you need is a bit of common sense, program lile 7zip to unpack archives and a file manager like Windows Explorer
For making mods, you will need the dedicated tools. PSarc and MBIN Compiler for decompiling game files and compiling mods into files
Those are used in more advanced that programs, which allow you to build mods from scripts, like AMUMSS (Lua scripts) or NMS Mod Builder (C# scripts I think, Im not sure I dont use it)
Yeah I have no clue when it comes to SE so, probably wouldn't. lol. I wasn't sure if it was "easy" or something very time consuming to pick up

There are 2 seed values it uses, Home Seed to control the colour, and Model Seed for the model itself. You can change these on your Freighter tab within the editor if you own one. Note that the Model Seed is often a slightly shorter hex value (0x...) compared to the Model Seed.

@fallow meadow I have a question about JSON editing. Is the only way for me to extract a JSON file to edit it (at least an Xbox save file), a save editor like Goatfungus? I'm assuming Nomnom is outdated so that's not an option. And I'm having issues with Goatfungus freezing whenever I try to edit the JSON for one of my saves. I'm curious if there's another app that'd be a decent alternative for editing my JSON so I can unlock this expo's rewards for a mini-side project I got (before I complete the expedition legit, without rushing through it).
Oh and do not click the 'Generate' button, as many think that will actually 'set' the values you put in the fields. Instead, this is used to generate random seeds
Hmm, those are the only Save Editors we have. Does not mean there are no other ways to do it, but I think it will only get more complicated to be honest, especially editing for re-use. There is some work done behind the scenes to make it even readable for us, as well as re-compressing again when you save after changes

I think it's a new issue. But I haven't needed to update the JSON in a long time.
I've save edited that save just via regular save editor means.
Using its regular UI options.
You should always keep the Save Editor up-to-date. Not sure it fixes the freezing, but those updates fix bugs and can be required to work properly with your saves.
The save editor is whatever's latest on GitHub. I downloaded it twice to make extra sure. I couldn't even extract the JSON file. It keeps showing a 0KB file for it.

What exactly do you mean?
The JSON is the format of the save data used behind the scenes. The Save Editor is the tool created, which uses Java as a platform for the code it was made with
JSON file editing is only required for some things, like right now, to unlock certain Singularity rewards. Most "save editing" I do doesn't revolve around me inspecting or editing the JSON. Like just unlocking blueprints which I can easily do via goatfungus' UI.
AAnd yes, true, most often actual 'Raw JSON' editing is not required at all

Ok, can you do the following:
- Open Control Panel (Windows)
- Then select Programs
- Then you should see Java
When you click it, it opens the Java Control Panel
Select the Java tab
Then click 'View'
Ahuh, figured as much
x86 = 32-bit
Another way you could have seen this is by CMD prompt, to then use java -version as a command, which then fails to mention 64-bit as runtime envoronment
Anyways, let us fix that, because in 32-bit you are basically running out of memory

Install and it should fix itself and use it instead
I bet you it fixes the freezing when trying to load your JSON
Export should then work too. It likely crashes or fails during export, ending up making it 0kb

No, not required to be able to edit JSON. It does allow a few restrictions you will hardly ever need.
Sweet! And yup! You did it! I wish I would've asked about this sooner. I just always assumed it'd be slow as fudge being a Java app. 
Not even sure what requires Test Mode to work in-game. In the past it was useful with amounts of slots for example.

No they did not. This is not a module that spawns in the wild in the game. Notice the words Potential and Example of. This is the module that game generates for purpose of showing off in the Catalogue and Guide section of the game.

I've completed all 10 expeditions, but changed PC in between. So now when I start a new game I only have expedition 9 and 10 rewards available, but not the rest. I found info about editing 'GCUSERSETTINGSDATA.MXML' file, to unlock it all back, but every time I edit the content, it gets overwritten from somewhere back to original state. I am confused now, if that would work like this and the original info is stored on Hello Games side, I should have access to everything. And if that is only local file, that is stored on my pc, then it should not get overwritten? Can anoyne help? thank you very much.
to my knowledge this info gets stored in accountdata.hg, not gcusersettingsdata.mxml? but setting the file to read only after changes should probably prevent the game from modifying it, but that's not a permanent solution
Hey. You do cover all of NMS discord with your helping advice? Good man :). I'm trying to get my unlocks working if possible for the future. I know there are options with NMS save editors and this offline thing, but that is a temporary solution, yes. Need to find something permanent and make backups of those files.

Back off into the PCBANKS folder and delete the DISABLEMODS.TXT
Restart your game, visit the anomaly reward vendor, profit :)
@gloomy verge The GCUSERSETTINGS has not been used for this anymore since Frontiers, but are instead saved in an account wide save as mentioned. Any changes made to it by save editing will be permanent. The only exception is for Twitch Rewards, which are actually being verified, and can only be temporarily bypassed by forcefully being disconnected from the internet at the time of claiming. So next to suggested 'mods', Save Editor is a valid working alternative.

There's nothing to "look into and find info" - it's just drag and drop and claim expedition/twitch rewards from the anomaly.
As Devilin said, it's been around since ages and is perfectly save to keep around in your loadorder.

Please forgive me, as english is not my native language and I cannot express myself rightly. I'm pretty sure I can get those unlocked with NMS Save Editor (haven't tried yet) every time I would want to start a new game. That I do understand. But I would prefer to have my account info updated at the source so I don't have to rely on any third party tools every time. I'm writing a request to zendesk currently if they can help me. And I really appreciate all the help and advice you have given me. I really do π
You reset/switched? your PC, lost your local data and now started at basically 0 again. They can't do anything about that either, because you didn't use steam cloud-saves to backup your data beforehand.
We provided you the only two possible solutions - HG will send you a "oh we're sorry to hear about that, we might rerun expeditions in the future" letter if anything 
I assume the issue you have run into, is the fact you are using a different computer now? Are you able to access the previous files on the PC you no longer use?
I can help out converting if need be. There is no need to make these changes every time you decide to play. Every change you make will remain. Only Twitch rewards will become unavailable to claim again, but once claimed you do get to keep them.
Yes, I changed computer recently. I have some local data and have been trying to reload them, I've got backups of "C:\Users\My User Name\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS\st_xxxxxxxxxxxxx" from quite some time back ... the first is from 2018, when I started playing. I have always also used steam cloud saves. And I have the old PC still on my desk. Unfortunatelly I haven't started new savegame in a long time, been playing my main save for a long time and haven't noticed, that my rewards are locked. So I don't know ...

Did you make 'proper' use of the Steam Cloud sync before continuing to play on the new PC?
The expedition/twitch rewards are all stored in your accountdata, so you should be able to copy the old file from your old PC over to your new PC via a USB stick
You could continue playing your old save aswell - I'm not quite sure tho how far you've gotten?
Since you said you played Expedition 1-10, but your "new save" (?) only has rewards from 9+10 
can you please explain what is" proper" use of Steam cloud?
Normally, when you have Cloud Sync enabled and you decide to install on a new device, you have a way to get all your save data 'synced' to the new device, so you do not lose any progress at all
^ since you said the last cloud save would be from 2018, that'd indicate you deactivating the steam cloud at some point
It would be like nothing even changed, you just continue on a new PC without any trouble. That is what Cloud Sync is actually for, its purpose

It can happen that Cloud Sync may have failed, or mistakes were made, or possibly even disabled. That is when it becomes harder to get things sorted again. Especially difficult if parts have been synced at moments
I had Steam Cloud synced at all times. I installed steam on new PC and it synced well on new PC. All saves were working as they should. I did not loose any progress on my main save and there are older expeditions saves (when I finished expeditions). But I just now noticed, when I came to anomaly, that I have only access to expedition 9 rewards and now expedition 10. 1-8 are locked.
I did expedition 9 on old PC. And those rewards are there.
Do you have the actual expedition rewards available to you tho? (as in are they unlocked and in your customizer-inventory?)
Are they just greyed out/unavailable entirely or already redeemed? 
If you didn't lose any data otherwise, that'd seem very strange
It could be that you missed the moment when the old way of saving changed to the new way, thus you may not have received the conversion of the GCUSERDATA to the new AccountData
Also, there is a whole lot more saved in that file than just rewards, so some things are less obvious to notice missing.
Either way ... from what you are telling us, only expedition rewards from 1-8 are missing. Twitch rewards you say are working fine. I would just add the Expedition rewards back and let us know if there is anything else you notice missing
I think there's another misconception tbh.. the save-edit / mod solution are not "temporary" whatsoever.
They both just enable you to update your bugged / dated account data.
You can savely remove the Consumerism Mod afterwards and/or never save-edit anything again.
Twitch rewards is the only thing that requires a bit of a workaround, with those not being an issue, you can edit your account save data any way you wish and continue from there without issue.
(editing, claiming, updating twitch rewards requires you to be offline on steam after save-editing them which you refered to earlier - not a thing with the regular expedition rewards/consumerism)
And for rewards, a mod basically comes down to the same. Save Editing can just handle a lot more than just those rewards
this is how it looks on a brand new creative save. And I was mistaken. I have Expeditions 1-7 locked rewards. And 8-10 unlocked. 1-9 were done on old PC. 10 was done on new PC π Really weird
Can be fixed either way, your choice to use a mod or save editor. I think you have enough info to get you started on trying to fix those. Feel free to ask for any additional assistance if need be

Honestly the easiest solution is just installing the consumerism mod, re-buying everything from 1-7 to update your outdated/bugged accountdata, saving and uninstalling it afterwards.
Backup your save data afterwards and try to get your Steam Cloud to work again to prevent this issue in the future

Maybe I'm not understanding.
You want to unlock expedition rewards right? You can use Goatfungus save editor. There is a tab at the top for "account". You can use that to unlock (give yourself) expedition rewards. Those will be saved in the "account" file/save in your save folder. They will be available in any new save and existing ones.
so I'm trying to do some save editor stuff and I'm seeing these many save files thing and not sure why some are more recent but smaller in size

@minor oak save.hg & save2.hg are save slot 1 collectively, save.hg is the autosave, save2.hg is the restore
so either save5 or save6 would be my creative save with not so much progress

You can edit the base stats of the ship, but not the stats on the technology items. For that you need a mod

This is excatly what did it. It updated "GCUSERSETTINGSDATA.MXML" file and "accountdata.hg" file. They are both now up to date and I can unlock everything from all expeditions I completed. It also works on new save and on older saves (I checked on my original main save with couple hundred hours, on my expedition 9 save and on expedition 8 save). Beautiful. I am one very happy gamer now. And I also added all of those files to my backup batches, so it should help. Thank you very much all who helped (@round sinew, @hybrid coral, @fallow meadow, @steel crypt). All heroes in my book for helping an old fart to enjoy No Mans Sky. Have a lovely day guys!

wait what? How come you don't need server check for hacking expedition rewards, but do need it for quicksilver items?
and most importantly - if HG server had my purchased quicklsilver items saved, how had it lost them after accountdata syncing fail?
The items are assigned a "shop stage" and "tier" value, the game checks for the stage and tier to decide which items are hidden, locked or unlocked
Consumerism changes all items' stage and tier value to a known unlocked value so that they are treated as unlocked
HG servers don't save em

that's the problem, no such list for accountdata in the nms save editor. I mean i know the developer could just not include it, but why would they even do that
so after my accountdata got screwed up, i lost both expedition and quicksilver as unlockables on all the saves where i hadn't cliamed them (including creating new ones)

i want to make the quicksilver items I purchased on my main save unlocked on all other saves again. Else I'd be stuck with having to manually edit every new save I create, which is not fun at all
You can just give yourself more quicksilver if you want

i guess so. That's the easiest way I could go choose from rn, but if I get to know how this is saved and could be edited cross-save-wise that wouod make it way simpler
if I go with the first option, I'll probably have to launch my main save, write down all the unlockable quicksilver items I've got, and then launch some other save to then calculate all their collective quicksilver price, which then add to that save in save editor

What do i do?

When you're back ingame in the Anomaly, your bugged rewards should be accessible again.
Once you've picked everything up, you can simply remove the .pak modfile again

It worked now, had to reset the game, how do i get ell the required quicksilver, is the only way to grind those missions all the time?
That or use the save editor to give yourself the Quicksilver

No, you don't have to disable any mods for Multiplayer or anything else of that matter.
You don't need quicksilver to purchase the old expedition rewards you wanted.
They dont even show up in the quicksilver shop

It only asks for QS for the current expedition rewards - because those are supposed to be obtained via finishing the current expedition OR by spending a good amount of QS instead.
All the older ones are free iirc? Unless they're just free for me because I completed them

Welp in that case tho, you don't need to be concerned about it either way, because it doesn't go anywhere.
You can always buy all the previous expedition and twitch rewards with QS at any time - as long as you have that mod installed 
You can obtain QS by doing weekly and daily missions at the Nexus in the meantime

Cuz it seems like something you do in your save file and therefore would not be a mod thing.......yet. It would have to be done with an external API....which are only indev.
Phantom Stars can be accessed by using a save editor (such as earlier example) to change your curent solar system index to a number between about decimal 600 (Hex 0258) and decimal 4095 (Hex 0FFF) will reliably produce phantom systems. Solar index numbers as low as decimal 213 (Hex 00D5) have been shown to produce phantom systems in some regions. The solar index of 0000 will also produce a phantom star in some regions

I know how to get it with save editing, but first you need to get your save onto Windows PC

It's a particle. Yeah a material thing. HG messed up the refraction stuff and the way particles are done. They made a horrible way of fading the edge of the particle, and then patched it, then unpatched it.
The black hole looks stupid now. Was thinking about modding it again, but when I looked, the edge fading was driving me crazy. Also, the way they build it is a lot different now.
TLDR: Yes, it's possible. The real question now is..... who's gonna drive themselves insane doing it like I did.
I would have to look to make sure. When they originally changed it, they basically used my system of using a giant transparent particle for refraction. The black hole has several layers of things. They changed some when they patched and unpatched it. They way it looks now, makes me 99% sure it's the giant particle for refraction.

If you wanted to git rid of refraction, yes you could do that. Done.
It might be possible to make nice refraction like in my mod, but I would have to try to work with the stupid as hell way they are fading it now. Dunno.

Ummm...not like that. Once a particle takes up the whole screen, it "fades" based on the screen. Like it has a non-particle border on the screen. This works fine with most particles, but with a clear refraction particle..... Imagine the stars are being refracted. If you go close to the black hole and the refraction particle is covering the screen, there will be this very obvious border where the stars are lines like they are being REALLY smeared/stretched.
The texture is blank. It is only being used to apply a refraction material.
Find a black hole and fly close to it where the refraction is covering the screen. You can't miss it. If I take a look at it, I will post pic for you.

The way the refraction material is refracting is a whole other thing to be fixed cuz it's jacked stupid looking too.

It sounds like a simple recognition error then, restarting the program usually fixes it for me, but a full laptop is needed once in a while.
Some time around the singularity release, HG broke all refractions. It affects ALL refractions in the game. It's a shader issue, and HG will have to fix it. Please report to HG to get some attention to the problem. I can't fix it due to it being a shader issue.

Sounds about right. I was testing this stuff and messing with the black hole trying to figure it out. (cuz it's easier to see the problem) At one point, it got so bad for me (potato) that the sound started dropping in/out.

No, I'm on GOG. They only released 1 4.3xx series update. Usually when GOG updates are delayed it's because the developer hasn't released it. HG has a pattern of not releasing GOG updates when they have bad issues. Been here since the beginning, and this update cycle has been tough for HG.

I guess, it's not confirmed it coming back though and to my knowledge they've put stuff in and not added it before. By fix up I mean I hope someone kept the models to implement the mod rather than fixing the actual models
You can get the models from the archive, then implement them with a mod. I just don't think anyone thinks it's worth the effort right now. They definitely put a ton of time into them, so I doubt they just drop them.
That's a shame, if I actually knew how to mod this game then it'd be something on my list for sure. Here's hoping Hello Games adds them at a later point then

Personally I dont install large scale environment mods like that
The reason is simple: mods like that tend to be updated manually and with HG retouching or reworking biomes makes it more complicated
If you're are looking for a "fresh coat of paint" for the game, you could check out mods that alter the visual instead
Stuff like Duds Sky Colours, Pararell Universe, Exosolar's mods
Terraform mods are awesome but can cause more issues than any of the other mods you could grab from nexus 
Whatever you decide to do, def. get DUDsky + DUDcolors. Easily the best mods you can grab to beautify your game :>

- account tab - which handles the account wide unlocks, and
- the discovery tab/known products - which handles what's known to the save being edited
i disabled it in season rewards and it still says claimed ingame

My take, start with vanilla. Use that until things begin to seem overly repetitive and boring, then switch to mod.
Starting off with mod, you lose having a control as a comparator.

@solid hawk Yo, you the guy to report flaws with the tame mod to? Flying Lizards get tamed as CreatureType Flying Lizard - 90% of the time, this makes em idiot fliers that enjoy dragging their faces against terrain. Passive instead works well 90% of the time
Just looked at author credits for the 1st time ever - I know Ive mentioned it to Mjstral in annoyance and he hasnt bothered to do anything. (Didnt know I was criticizing something with his name on it, else Id have ribbed him some, too)
The MOD adds the E interaction menu and riding data. The Flying Lizards don't get tamed as CreatureType Flying Lizard, that's what they are upon creation in the game. The GcInteractionComponentData code block for adding a pet has no facility to change or set the creature type. What you're asking to do is a save edit, can't be done via game file mod. That being said, I might be able to change in one of the creature tables, by default. That is IF 1) said change doesn't completely break the creature in question 2) CreatureType Flying Lizard isn't being set completely by the .exe, not using data from the game files.
But, shoot me a screenshot of your Passive change please.

I am just missing expeditions 8 and 9 and to be honest, I really really am a fan of the utopia speedster, big fan of Bladerunner here π
Maybe try clearing the path to the save file you're trying to edit, restart the goatfungus save editor and reset the path again?

I found the names of the json elements and added them there
On steam, pc version, it worked, and also account is not grayed out, on ps4 I have the problem

Yes, so I got the save from PS4 to a usb stick, used save wizard to decrypt it. Got it exported using the advanced option into a savedata.hg file and opened it with goatfungus
I also searched for already existing save files but no luck, been trying to figure this whole thing out 2 weeks now
Does any of the other data in the save editor (besides the Account Tab) get populated after you've selected your save file? Perhaps posting screenshots here can help us troubleshoot the issue better. Especially when Dharhan and Devilin are on and hopefully see the thread.
Also it's not creative, it's normal but for some reason it has it categorized Creative.
All other visible tabs are operational
I tinkered with them and it works okay, if you want I can upload the JSON I edited

Here's some insight from goatfungus himself that maybe we should give a try?
Account will be greyed out if the editor could not find your accountdata file. This is separate from your normal save files but is stored in the same folder usually.
To solve...you should load your save file in the game itself and do another quicksave. The game should then save everything in the new format.

The account settings file is not decrypted by save wizard.
If you look at the saved files one of them is smaller than the others, this is the account file and where expedition info is kept.
@night adder Sorry to bug you again, but you're the only player I know of with some Save Wizard knowledge. Have you ever tried making edits of a PS4 file via goatfungus' Account Tab?
Thing is that when I save the data on usb stick from ps4, I have 3 files. Savedata00 -01 -02 and their respective .bins
I'm about to post something I've been holding off on, that's not related to this PS4 issue by the way. Hopefully when Dharhan or Devilin get on, they can help us troubleshoot this issue a little better. I'm really concerned that others have reported that Save Wizard hasn't decrypted the account data for them before. I wonder if that's still an issue. 





Expeditions - Save Editing & Game Mod Options
These options are mostly for PC players, PS4 players with access to the paid app: Save Wizard, or players with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, who get cross-save via the Xbox cloud and access to a PC where No Man's Sky can be installed to sync your save files.

π Unlocking Rewards

If updating your save's account data via the editor's UI (e.g. Account tab) is not an option with either of these editors -- which can be the case when an expedition is still running and a save editor hasn't been updated with the latest rewards, you may do Raw JSON editing, adding the corresponding reward codes.

When doing this, we recommend editing the Raw JSON for Account Data, if possible (exception PS4 players). Just adding the reward codes / IDs to the save data itself, is not always enough. And it ensures you get the rewards as they are intended. Per @fallow meadow:

UnlockedSeasonRewardsin the Account Data to then claim in the Space Anomaly.
Note: Alternatively editingKnownSpecialsin the Save Data will often work as well, but not always.

@ancient stratus The issue is not NMSSE or NomNom, but in fact Save Wizard, which does not decrypt the account data, only saves. So using a save editor after having used Save Wizard to get the files decrypted, you can only edit saves, not account data.

The only way to then get any of those rewards, would indeed be Raw JSON, although it might be possible if present in the main menus to unlock. The info is however usually available sooner to do so in Raw JSON, prior to editors updating. CC @ancient stratus

By going to the anomaly and looking at the npc with the expedition rewards

Ah yes, but that is because your Account data has not changed, so it will remain to show as such. You should check the Appearance Modifier or elsewhere to find if your rewards are there
Of course rewards like a ship or something, are going to require further edits, as 'KnownSpecials' will not cover those

You can also look for 'RedeemedSeasonRewards', which may then alter the QS bot at the Anomaly, but I see no point, as it is just that, listing it as redeemed.
For the ship you will actually have to add the ship to your list of ships.

The ship is basically using internal means to 'gift' it to you, and there is no way without modding to replicate this. So I will have to hunt down the full ship data, so you can add it to your Owned ships
And how am I going to be able to add the ship via the editor? I didn't see a button for adding new ship to the collection\

Ah yes, it can replace one, but it would basically alter an existing ship to just change the model, which would not be quite the same.
You do not modify the seed, it uses a special seed so to say, often '0x1', but I have to look it up. It will also not come with the stats it should have if done that way.

@shy grove To add to your pin above: While adding the rewards through Raw JSON editing, I would actually recommend editing the Raw JSON for Account Data, if of course possible. As just adding IDs to the save data itself, is not always enough, as you now see. It also ensures you get the rewards as they are intended.

You had to edit raw JSON because the Account Tab doesn't work for you -- as the account data wasn't decrypted by Save Wizard. That's what she was referring to

During an expedition, before a save editor is updated with the latest expedition's rewards, players may also have to edit the raw JSON, as the Account Tab may not have the latest rewards available in the editor's UI.

It shouldn't, but you may have to be careful with some items/tech, when not supposed to have them yet, but the questline rewarding them. In most cases you are fine though.

There you create a Mods folder (if not there yet), in which any mods (.pak) files are installed. Then lastly remove the ENABLEMODS.TXT in PCBANKS. When launching the game, it should show a warning, which means you did it correctly.
Remove (or rename) DISABLEMODS.TXT, not ENABLEMODS
Hmmm, odd, my fresh install on Steam has ENABLEMODS again, not DISABLEMODS like it used to. May have to verify the various platforms again?

I just verified my files and it downloaded DISABLEMODS.TXT. You probably renamed it yourself at some point and forgot about it. Especially because it's the oldest file in your "fresh" installation. We do know for a fact that pressing "uninstall" in Steam does not delete the whole folder, but only the current contents. In theory you could have two NMS versions installed side-by-side (pre-Mac and post-Mac). That was an issue with one user who tried to use AMUMSS but couldn't because AMUMSS would draw from the old files instead of the new
My computer has been formatted this weekend with everything freshly installed. It came like this from Steam

25th is when it was first installed, the other files have updated since
And you are 100% sure you didn't manually rename it after installing NMS?
