Also looking on the wiki re: weekend missions, they apparently did roll right up to a week before Origins
Yeah, still weird how origins didn’t really keep up the theme of it though
but more importantly: how has it already been nearly a year since Origins
I mean Origins kinda kept up with some of it wrt to infestations...I guess?
the meat of Origins narratively speaking was in the archive buildings i believe
Origins did the whole archive megastructures and new planets with different terrain stuff
I’m realizing I’ve missed out on a lot of content here
I haven’t read any archives lore
i'm guessing you may not have read much of the derelicts' logs either then
Here and there
reading the archives lore is kind of haphazard
I was under the impression those weren’t as important since they’re mostly procedural
Haphazard?
What’s wrong with em
yeah it's not linear, since you get a few choices each time
Some's just fluff is all is the impression i got from'em
most of the archives lore I've read so far is also kind of fluff
I feel like most of the writing for this game has been just fluff since atlas rises
Like repeating the same plot beats
Same revelations
Different ways of doing it (but that’s just what I’ve seen, obviously I’m not as keyed into it)
yeah feels like the story kind of stagnated. all the big updates cover art had the Atlas falling down progressively, and then they just abandoned that motif
it felt like they were leading towards something major happening and then they shifted to this Abyss storyline instead
well, whereas say Desolation's logs add to the atmosphere and plaques build out the alien backstory and so on, the archive buildings, at least those i've seen, hit more in line with station missions' descriptions a bit
they add a little flavor but don't do as much worldbuilding as some of the others mentioned above do
Yeah that’s what I’ve been wondering lol
tho granted i may just need to find some more archive buildings and find some that do more worldbuilding
Instead of abyssal horrors, I used to think the antagonists would be world of glass related
Because like
The lore literally antagonizes glassed beings
And world of glass is the same sort of overarching threat to the cosmos as the abyss
It’s even in the main story
and the lore barely said a hint of any biohorrors so far as i recall, at least not as they appear
One message removed from a suspended account.
like there's the very early abandoned building tale of the horrific monstrosity with lidless eyes they thought was some matter-transfer mistake buuut
yeah p. much Kilbi, just another traveler iteration
Those are the same buildings as the biohorrors so I guess that makes sense
That’s funny then
No mans sky has 3 antagonistic forces rising at the same time
except that the biohorrors don't resemble that description
One message removed from a suspended account.
they literally just rode off the eerie atmosphere of abandoned buildings to justify placing them around them, lol
Damn well
Well the appearances part is kinda sorta not acknowledged in the lore stuff if I'm not mistaken? I think some more recent stuff does take it into account but I'm not as familiar with it
May simply be the appearance modifier description too, now that I think about it some more
I guess the multiple enemy types being introduced here fits with the simulation running into chaos, but I feel like one needs to be padded out entirely. And more shown and not told
It’s this
the appearance modifier has some text somewhere saying it only changes visual aesthetic or something like that
speaking of enemy types, let's not kid ourselves here and imagine HG needs a narrative background for introducing any enemies considering they intro'd corrupted sentinels at the drop of an update, lol
True
This is all just an excuse for my dream of hg introducing more world of glass content
You're not a Gek Traveller, you're a Traveller. The appearance modifier lore-wise is explained by basically you taking the appearance you want holographically.
Unless I'm forgetting some lore that mentioned corrupted sentinels anyway
Only corrupted in the sense of being how they normally are
Did we ever find out what was up with the corrupt sentinels? I thought they were all corrupt from the start
Since those logs were years before the corrupted sentinels ever happened
Yeah
They’re corrupted in the sense of over policing
Well, i guess rogue might be a better term for our original sentinels
True
True. Artemis path says the subroutine is corrupted or something though which is why there’s confusion here
No idea how the corrupted ones differ then
haven't gone outta my way to stir one up and try to analyze them, so maybe there's more info there?
well there's always been lore about Sentinels fighting each other, so I don't know what kind of 'corruption' that is
Sentinels, Glassers, Biohorrors, Abyss, I take it is how you're thinking?
i always figured the world of glass was a Tron-esque way of describing the area of the Atlas programming where objects were deleted to free up memory for reuse
I should try to find some underwater ruins in the current version...I remember The Abyss update added some unique stuff to those, and uhh...Presumably it's Abyss-related...?
I read some of that
There’s one about a marble
It’s incredible
Because it’s like
Super super super vague
But totally connected
I think similarly
All we officially know is that it’s some in between of worlds, the sentinels travel through it and scan stuff in, it has its own protocol within the atlas system (so it was purposefully designed), and the creator lore has the creator mentioning seeing a reflection they didn’t expect within the computer
I know a lot of the anomalous planets vaguely resemble damaged computer parts (cables, broken glass, etc) so I can imagine the “world of glass” being something similar, like computer body-horror
we've been overthinking it, ||the world of glass is windows, the OS you're playing the game on most likely
||
Also WT brought up some glass storage solution
On one of those websites
“5d glass storage” from myriad
i joke, but on rereading this stuff i couldn't help thinking of world of glass relating to windows and being like an access area to the whole of the multiverse
where you peer into each universe through a "window"
Artemis does that, albeit from the world of glass itself
The Atlas is the Mirror to the World of Glass, the Multiverse
Reminds me of that 1 time in WT, when we put an atlas shape against a mirror
Infinity mirror
exactly
One of my biggest lore questions is if the world of glass in anyway relates to the repetition of the atlas, from subsim to subsim
Like if that’s the protocol that helps tie it all together into a nice cascading system, where it exists in every subsequent universe as the Atlas. And the reason the creator got confused seeing the vague “reflection” in the glass is because the creator realized the atlas was allowing subsims to happen
I was pretty sure that was the Atlas getting confused there, not the creator
Might be
Wait
It might be the traveler themselves
Seeing the creator, themselves, in the flash back
here's something i thought about recently on that matter on reviewing the info
We need somewhere to write down all the lore in one place with citations
Then things might start to make more sense but that would be a big job
Remember how Rogue Data begins tho:
The Atlas has created a simulation of its own world, its entire existence, in an attempt to witness its own impending death. It wishes to show me its past, its future...
My Interpretation of the Waking Titan and No Man’s Sky Storyline By Expand (/u/ExpandRT, Expand#9159) Special Thanks available here. Notice Much of this document is my interpretation of the lore & storyline. It is in no way confirmed, but I have tried my best to supply an ample amount of evide...
I guess it’s really the wiki’s job but the wiki is a mess at the best of times
And the whole Fandom transition with the wiki hasn't really helped a ton
That’s the tricky part
That’s where they get ya
Mentioning reflections makes me think of bubble planets, which all have the “boundary failing” message in the cockpit
I read thru this doc and I actually think the summaries hold up, nothing else does
In terms of grammar
Good times. WT made for 2 fun summers
All of the anomalous planets have that message though
One message removed from a suspended account.
I got a star seed and went through the huge black hole it gave me, and then the atlas path disappeared
Idk what to do
That was the end of the Atlas path - the blackhole is meant to take you to the system you birthed (aesthetically speaking, it's not a new one sadly) - you can now see blackholes and if you get or have Remembrance they are synergistic and combine to give +3 HP

This is incredibly vast in scope it’s excellent
Thanks!!
Also off topic but why does mike have drip??
Yes, #off-topic-bond-james-bond indeed.
No fun allowed 🚫
I once tried to document waking titan from beginning to end in detail for like an outsider looking in but I never finished it
More like follow the channel topic & use the appropriate channels 🤷
No hate … I grew up on forums that would often get topics derailed so I know it’s a problem but at the same time It’s a bad habit I need to kick
the atlas is basicali the matrix just way cooler
disagree, the matrix is way cooler
Does anyone know why the atlas wants to simulate us? Is it just a experiment?
The atlas was designed by its creators to understand reality by simulating it
It was left on for thousands of years because the creator would feel bad for shutting it off, long after the creator left the homeworld the atlas was on, leaving it to continuously run no mans sky
That’s it in a nutshell
thats interesting, thank you! i have almost completely forgotten like all of the lore, i havent played in a while.

Racism!!!

This really isn't the right channel for these shenanigans, guys 🙂 Feel free to make copious use of #no-mans-sky.
yeah I just put mine in here since this is where the story stuff is
usually
but I see your point
@wintry roost it seems to be an antagonistic force with the power to overtake people/beings, with a similar energy signature to the ATLAS
like a virus, moving creature to creature
but the thing is, it all originates from water
most depictions of it involve water... drinking water, crashing in water, studying water
the supercomputer simulating the no mans sky reality
it was created to understand reality, by simulating reality. the reality it simulated, or one of them, is no mans sky
thats why theres the giant floating disembodied red orb, because thats the overaching computer that runs everything
Isn't it dying?
My 20+ hours of playtime disagree
What happens after the final minute?
lore is vague about that, but a black hole is actively killing the ATLAS' homeworld, therefore the ATLAS
the lore talking about the final 16 mins reveals something stands beside it in its very final moment
Universes that never existed with events that never happened
so the ATLAS isnt alone when it dies
I assume it's killing the Atlas in the real world
yeah
Well, at least nothing of value will be lost. A simulation isn't real, so that's an upside
Everythings fine until some drones wipe out an entire galaxy in less then an hour
What's the go with the Sentinels?
well, the game basically says no reality is real, and every reality is a simulation, so therefore nothing is real
like theoretically one reality must be real, where all others come from
but with so many turtles on the way down, even our world is fake
To be huge dickheads
All I know in lore is that when they were referred to “Aerons” the vy’keen almost defeated them but lost because of first spawn interference
Some remain loyal to the atlas, some become corrupted
Corrupted by what?
Crashed freighters also mention sentinels turning to fight other sentinels
death of the atlas
dont know actually
end of the artemis path
thats why theyre corrupt
and why most other things are corrupt
why the abyss is probably happening, why the world of glass is happening
basically theyre some sort of policing feature that has become rampant, overworking itself and as calypso said, fighting itself
Didn't they destroy a whole universe?
yeah, and cities and so on
I think them destroying the whole universe thing is a little hard to find but its somewhere in the lore
cant remember
been a min
Crashed freighter logs
I think it originates from freighter logs or those ring portal things
Forgot the name of them
world of glass
What's that?
an inbetween of reality, where most dead things or just things in general are currently going to within the lore, due to the sentinels
the last part is kind of what I've gleamed
"due to the sentinels"
I havent read most of that lore in a while tho
How did Artemis get there?
iirc they were using a portal
it transported them, or killed them, and that thereby brought them into the world of glass
they communicated to the player from a grave the entire time
So the graves are an interface between the World of Glass and No Man's Sky?
Where is all this lore coming from?
a mixture of sources, but mainly the main storyline with Artemis
some old lore from abandoned buildings/buildings in general, the boundary failures
some can come from Waking Titan
I have a feeling the wiki is lacking
Sorta
Is it actually possible to beat them?
I mean in the past before the events of no man’s sky the vy’keen almost did
Do they have a homeworld?
I haven’t done research on any of the 3 aliens homeworlds
The gek homeworld balaron might still exist
The korvax homeworld was destroyed by the gek
And uhh the vy’keen
I have a feeling that the Sentinels don't come from the NMS universe
I remember hearing something that indicates sentinels have interdimensional travel
Aren't they also self-replicating?
the Sentinels were created to keep the simulation AI from getting out of control. that's why they're (probably) unbeatable, they don't play by the rules
What if the Vy'keen had won the Sentinel war?
Then a reset would occur
Same thing happened when the sentinels destroyed nada n polo’s galaxy in their iteration
The vykeen did win though, they drove the sentinels out which allowed the gek to commit their atrocities that lured them back in
more of a pseudo-win than the total annihilation win the vy'keen were after tho
I missed out of some weekend missions a while back, can someone give me a rundown on the rift and npc disappearances thing?
Fair enough. I did hear something about imposters
we were all feeding the rifts on planets, it had text related to "fixing" something, then Hesperus found some korvax machine, disappeared for a bit, came back, then Aridane disappeared and came back and it was revealed that this Aridane was likely an imposter
since we found the ship remains of Aridane
the fixing of rifts seems to have alluded to the planet changes in Origins
I always loved the horror themes in this game. Thanks!
Perfect, thanks man
It's outdated tho
nope
season 2 was the last
after that, weekend missions have been proc gen instead
no coherent story
I found 25 Boundary failure on this planet .. but the last 5 repeat always the Error,,,ATLAS...They see you... does that mean I would not get more lore ?
hmm seems 20 BF is the max for lore
Ha .. did fly back my route and found some more new BF`s with lore...
Yep that's the last
And it's 30
Expansion out yet?
Which one?
Frontiers, likely
No
And Expedition 3 still hasn't happened yet either, I'm guessing?
Yeah, that.
i hope it's not another crossover...
the last expediton was very well paced, but the end...it seemed a bit..idk...
maybe we'll get an actual story with the third?
like the weeken missions used to be
Expedition leading into the frontiers update, I can dig that
a not so reliable "leaker" apparently said they wanted to do just that but couldn't accomplish it due to technical reasons
take it with a grain of salt
but I feel like it could be the case, would explain the internal updates we got month and a half ago
how long do i need to progress into the history to unlock portals?
is it possible nms frontiers will be released at xbox gamescom?
You're looking for #874277230895824926.
Uh. Why does my overseer know about the cycles?
The entire 'Expanding the Base' questline hints at the terminal fellows being aware of it all being a simulation.
"I am contracted to aid you in this and every cycle"
I guess so. The overseer supposedly knows Apollo now that I think about it
The Abyss is generous
Begone with ye, eldritch spawn!
i'm curious. I know fuck all about NMS lore, mainly because i can barely understand it half the time and it's too broken up across different gameplay mechanics that i can't remember one lore bit and connect it to the next,,,Buuuuut was there ever like a theory or confirmation about the Anomalies (The beings that just look like faceless astronauts) Being like,,,the in simulation interface for people on the outside of the simulation (I.E us)? or was that always kind of just implied by the simple fact that the whole game is canonically a simulation anyway?
yeah i figured WT would factor into that
ARG tells us these anomalies are people/humans, while also confirming no man’s sky is a game in its own storyline. Which is being played by people (us) taking control of the people put into the simulation during the ARG
Or something like that, is what i think
Dreamers
Yeah!
dreamers?
Dreamers
Dreamers were people uploaded to the simulation by accident, their consciousness transferred to it
Shouldn’t have tried WARE
Everything I’m saying is super abridged but it’s the nutshell
th...VR Thing?
The headband thing
i don't know WT all that much. i know there's a wiki thing for it but it..doesn't help me much really
It mostly says everything that happened literally rather than focusing on narrative content
AFAIK
I haven’t checked it in a while
are there no video summeries or something like that on it?
I wrote some
Shameless self promo:
Ignore everything but the summaries for the most part
My theories are a bit outdated in some areas
Mainly grammar
so basically people got Hypnospace Outlawed into the NMS simulation then
man i had no idea the lore for NMS ran this deep
as you said from the start, it's kind of a mess in how it's conveyed
Why do Sentinels hate me killing animals and mining resources?
Dunno, but you're luckier than I am with them apparently
alright, but really
who the fuck is 2311T
I know why they made it vague. I know why we never talked to them in the ARG. I know we probably play as them. But damn, they only get 1 mention in the game files. and then never again. I love it
Because you're an anomaly that shouldn't even be there and they're just trying to maintain the simulation by getting rid of everything that doesn't belong there

What if I change my race to Vy'keen?
A buildable module that allows the users to adjust their personal appearance settings.
The module applies advanced holographic techniques to recalibrate the light around the user, allowing them to adopt whatever appearance they desire. Visual data must be properly formated before use.
says the item description for appearance modifier
Yeah, I knew nothing would change. I'm just being stupid
oh man I had no idea thats what it did
Is there more info on corrupted sentinels in game or do they just show up sometimes
From the wiki
"One describes that the Sentinels did go out of control once before and the entire universe had to be deleted from the multiverse. This could happen again, but this time unchecked, as the Atlas is slowly losing control of its own defense program.
Some black box reports of crashed freighters state that they come from a universe with different skies. Some of them were attacked by Sentinels which during their last moments fought among themselves for an unknown reason.
It is possible that those are the rogue sentinels which annihilated all life in their respective multiverses and had to be deleted by the Atlas Protection Program 'Telamon' in return. It is likely Telamon used some sentinels to fight the corrupted ones, before giving the order to wipe the universe clean. Similar behaviour can be seen in No Man's Sky, as some branches of sentinels are overly aggressive, although for now only to foreigners, especially the player who is accompanied by the Telamon AI as their guide."
Not sure where they deduced this Telamon thing
From my understanding there is nothing in the lore about the corrupted sentinels
The sentinels themselves being corrupted in general, sure
Is that fan fiction or part of the ARG?
It's implied that the crashed freighters were destroyed by rogue or corrupted sentinels
That part is true. But those logs were before the corrupted sentinels were put into the game. Even at launch the sentinels were always “corrupted”
What’s confusing is that hello games named the even-more-broken sentinels corrupted too. Even though they’re all from a corrupt atlas system protocol
I've been thinking about that. Considering we start out as the Anomaly race, the Sentinels are probably trying to kill us for not fitting into ATLAS's grand design. They're not the corrupted ones
Well they’ve always tried to kill you before anomalies were in the game
Assuming you mean the race
Travelers are also referred to as anomalies. This game likes to confuse people
I'm assuming Anomalies are human? Or are they just the suit?
In the ARG they were 12 people trapped in a experimental vr-like headset
So… human, I guess…
But most were pulled out of the sim, or they died
I missed all of Waking Titan, so I'm probably lagging behind a fair bit
At this point it’s just a cool side narrative to know, and not very essential
The most it ever intersects with NMS is with the Anomalies
Here's what Sean Murray said about Sentinels in 2015 Game Informer interview
"This robotic enemy army isn't all that malevolent as far as motivations go. They are simply trying to maintain the balance of the universe. On some planets they patrol, keeping an eye out for anyone who kills creatures, carves out resources, or generally changes the environment. If you're just strolling around scanning things in, they leave you alone. If you draw their attention, they attack like traditional first-person shooter enemies, shooting lasers, strafing, and taking cover."["
Came with the receipts
Respect
My statement of “since launch” might have been hasty. But either way, they were corrupt since 1.3, which was years before the corrupted sentinels
Artemis path, when you approach the atlas, has been in the game since august 2017. Corrupted sentinels were about 2 years later right? Sometime recently?
It'd be cool if NMS had a codex for lore like Doom and Doom Eternal had
yeah, that would be amazing. or a fan-ran one, more up to date than the wiki
I started that last bit, but especially now, I have 0 time to run something like that
ppl need to know how amazing this lore is
anyways I dont buy into them hinting at corrupted sentinels that early, unless they retconned it. but I'll say it's always possible
it would be nice but the game has to do better at drawing people into it by relating it to gameplay somehow
So I finally found an atlas station by entering the coords on a portal but when I entered it the atlas was there again(I've reset the simulation) so now I'm confused
its all tell and not show, youre absolutely right
its okay for a lot of it to be in text form of course. but it would be cool to find things in the actual game that relate to the lore. like world of glass related encounters in space or on planet. remnants of korvax prime. simulation glitches
even more remnants of first spawn. battletorn derelict ships floating in space from the war between the vy'keen and sentinels
Hirk/Nal murals, or statues
sentinels fighting each other
Does anyone know why this would happen
Because the Atlas is actually there, lore-wise. The Atlas has no reason not to be there.
look how cool this logo is though
Resetting the simulation doesn't make the Atlas go away.
Nah, you still have 16 minutes after that
So i need something awnsered was Hirk a real Person a god or semi mythical like jesus is now where people are not shure if he was real or not
Hirk and Nal appear to be definitely real as Hirk is the reason the Vy'keen waged war against the Aerons. The Korvax also have some record of Nal potentially still being alive though that could be inaccurate or old info.
i have some info that nal was killed by hirk
As far as biblical comparisons, they're much closer to Cain and Abel
pushed of a mountain
ah i am currently compiling a little spreadsheet where if i find lore i writhe it down with coordinates and glyphs
also what i find fascinating we know for certain that the sentinel use the monoliths to get around we also know they are older than than the Vy'keen so than how do Monoliths contain stories from Vy'keen often younger than than the start of the war.
This is partially explained by one of the main story mission, i believe its Patterns in Time. You essentially learn that the 3 races are doomed to an endless cycle of destroying one another. I cant honestly recall at which point in the timeline Hirk and Nal appear but as youve mentioned, there are records that go further back than their story.
the game also mentions a progenitor species, or species wiped entirely, etc etc
so many opportunities
I guess if you wanted to get meta, Hello Games could have made and inserted the monoliths into the simulation themselves
are the current QS items actually buildable in the game yet?
Reaching tier one would mean an update had to be pushed if they weren't
They're visible in the save editor at least, not sure if buildable.
I unlocked everything there and still can't see any of the cave items nor nexus ones
the cave items are missing descriptions btw so those will need a patch at least
What does crafting rememberence do for you?
It allows you to read special terminals behind some of the Atlas Pass-locked doors in the Space Stations. Beyond that, it grants an extra hit point (those little [+] icons under your shield meter), up to three if set adjacent to the Star Seed.
are we forgetting that the monoliths are noted as "absorbing the local culture" so to speak
The final theme for the game honestly kinda gives me chills
Especially close to the last part of the song
They ARE buildable in game as of yet, so are the cave parts (they just dont have entries in the language files)
The pipes are the only ones in the queue which arent buildable
Yeah, supermoon is a banger. It's my alarm lol
hey you said that Nal could still be alive i found an intrestinf bit of Lore from a Boundary failure. "SCENARIO: Lifeform designates 'Vy'keen' (2) approach the INSTANTIATION ['Great Monolith'] Silence/Acceptance of [-------] / Schism [Quasi-====] / Korvax [Eradication/Enslavement]. Vy'keen war emerges where individuals 'Hirk' and 'Nal' belive the other to have heard nothing. Repeated imafery of six cries' ANALYSIS: Scenario involves murder of ally and culture becoming obsessed with destruction of artifical intelligence [Cautionary]. Semi-survival/retrival of entity 'Nal' shows further instance of self-doubt by [-------]. Troubling factor: repeated pattern of [-------] silence and self-mythicization."
The question becomes what does semi-survival mean
Ikr
black holes
oh, but yeah if you're following the story you don't have to literally go there
?
Just start warping, you will see
6 more
Future proofing
.
i got no space or anyhing
dam
all cargo and backpack is fuel and so is freighter and storage
i got enough to last years in game
maxed out my warp on my shitty ship too
bro ive been skipping warps but its still going
like skipping systems
What does it say when you warp?
nothing
No data injection?
what
What does your log say? For this mission
Lol
i wasted even more because u have to stop in each one
for a little
i was just going one after the other
just finnished and this has to be my second favorite ingame story
ive played alot of games
but this was good
Nice! I enjoyed it also
whats ur fav ingame story
This one lol
The story of no mans sky really is quite great
it's all ||a video game||
video game inside a video game
I have a question, is Atlas an evil entity in NMS? sorry im bad with NMS lore
Not evil, afraid and dying machine
A dying machine that creates the simulation?
Yeah, the simulation at this point is trying to determine why it is dying, and how it can avoid that
ok, thanks a lot for the answer!! Appreciate it
No problem
Forgove me if im wrong, the anomoly is the sickness of the atlas right?
no need to use spoiler tags here
which anomaly are you referring to? our player character?
Yes our player
not the sickness of the atlas, but the atlas trying to recreate its creator
in an attempt to get it to fix itself
And the creator of the atlas is a traveler-anomoly?
It's kind of implied humans made the Atlas, though it's more speculation than full-on inferred.
no its the other way around, travellers (particularly us and null) are a recreation of the actual creator of the atlas
basically all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares
we are the rectangles that are not squares
So what went wrong the original atlas creation to make atlas want to be fixed?
Like hasnt this been a repeating cycle for the atlas since it was created?
Atlas detecting that the simulations it created is not being as stable anymore, and thinking it's gonna die without knowing what's the cause and it created us to find a way to fix it
but we never did and now just exploring the universe while that countdown is ticking
but we dont know the meaning of "16"
Ok but the galaxy euclid is that the original atlas creation? Or has it been wiped before we started the game?
well the atlas has changed, wiped, reset etc its simulations a few times iirc
euclid and the rest of the galaxies being the current iterations
Ha that would account for negative galaxies :)
I thought 16 is the countdown... because its 16 seconds exactly when the reboot happens end game
it is, we just dont know what 16 means in game just like the final mission log states
Oh true true
16 seconds, minutes, years, millennia? could be anything
Right
there's some logs that state its in minutes, but the concept of time in this world seems quite different from ours so even that's gone out the window
We do know what the 16 is. It's 16 minutes the Atlas has left before the black hole consumes the planet it's in - that time is relative in the simulation though.
Wow i hope sean adds more lore info in game on this subject
a lot of more background lore has been added since 1.3 (the update that added this storyline)
but yes it hasnt continued past that point
Its crazy! Like what is time in this universe lol or any universe for that matter
would be nice if it did for the game's final update
Atlas just dies, simulation ends. Would be a fun, bittersweet way to end NMS' development.
doesn't have to be the final update either
Imma have to start the game over
would be pretty awesome if it turns out Frontiers continues the story
gonna ask here because spoilers. The end of "The Purge" Which has you interact with the Atlas for the final time during the Artemis Questline, I recall being given the choice to either reset the simulation (effectively choosing which Galaxy you want) Or refuse the Atlas. If i refuse the Atlas here and end the quest line, can i still do the Atlas Path afterward? And if i manually go to the center of Euclid and into the next Galaxy, is there a way for me to choose the galaxy again at an Atlas Interface or am i forced to have to always go to the center of each Galaxy to progress?
Dude no fuckin way
You can continue the Atlas Path, no matter what you choose in this situation.

aladdin crossover? (im kidding but thats crazy to even imagine)
or just an internal joke within the dev team
these things happen too
is there an updated list of data mining so far?
@dark geyser I did everything and have the remembrance installed. I spammed atlas stations for the full glyph set from the atlas stations during that quest line and got the recipes for all the seed things. Now my atlas stations are empty and the mission is telling me to go speak with atlas but they’re not there
did you try walking forwards where the atlas used to be?
May I ask if you have gone to the very back of the Atlas station
should be able to keep walking
Lol
Yes, I did there’s a console there that looks like you put the rememberence in it but 1- I’ve never done it before and don’t know if I’m doing it wrong
2- have no interaction option and the blip disappears as I approach the console thing
Interact with the little stones around the middle one
I got lost there too lol
didn’t realize there were ones on the outside
little stones around the middle one. I’ll see if I can find that at the next statio
You won't use the remembrance there though
Gotcha
Need to craft all those recipes to finally get to the Heart of the Sun
I did that and then when it asked me if I wanted to preform the reset I said no and now I feel like I’m stuck in Euclid. Never galaxy hopped before
well galaxy hopping is done a completely different way
Well the HOTS isn't for that path - it's for this Atlas path
Ah, gotcha. The Atlas path is the one I wanted to finish
Have that with you, and do like Mac said and interact with those stones - then you will use that
Do I need to craft another HOTS?
I do have remembrance
Yeah, you need another
Do I refuse or reset???
It’s working!!!! @dark geyser it’s working!
anakin in his pod racer screaming
that’s great!
@shell pawn i was gonna ask if the Atlas Path ended with one selecting a different galaxy to go to
Atlas path no, atlas path ends with you being able to see black holes without Polo's help
the artemis path ends with you selecting a different galaxy
(or staying in the current one)
okay well i just looked it up in the wiki to make sure and it says you can choose to either "Birth a new star" or walk away and return to the galaxy...i'm guessing birthing a new star isn't the same as going to a different galaxy?
Ah
well i can't say the upgrade looks all that useful but i'll do it for the lore lol
plus it might help the glyph stuff anyway since i'll have to warp a lot to get to Atlas stations
just need to make note of the systems that i got warped to from the atlas interface during the Artemis Path.
alright thanks for all the help
If I remember it's from Joe danger
Oh the monkey with the fez?
That's a Joe danger model
I believe they were using a few models like that to test shooting and stuff
That and an astronaut with a sign
there is also a random image of a dog with glasses in the files
I have a curios question....why does salvageble scrap look like uhm....Bombs?
is it a hint towards a dark past?
definitely, we already know the races warred with each other
finding bombs just adds to the lore subtly
I think it'd be cool if NMS had a system like Spore
So the factions actually warred for the systems
and you could see the alliances shift
whats the center of the elculid galaxy cords
There is galaxy core where u can warp to an another galaxy
And ye that's it.. way to change your galaxy.
what
Or you want only coordinates to get there? sry read that question fast.. easiest way to go there is just use first glyph 12 times
It should place u about 5000Ly from the core or something..
i found one that gets me 4k away
Ye ok.. close enough then, it is in that kind of "core area".. so systems near the core and dont take long to reach the core from there..
do u use py?
Py?
nvm then
Sry. Im not following now.. dunno what's that and how does it have something to do with py, whatever that means..
#nms-questions, this isn't relevant to this channel anymore.
And true that👆
Atlas Mission Spoiler:
||I did the Atlas Mission and i didn't get anything at the end. Is that normal? I was ery confused because at the last Atlas Anomaly it said that it would give me great power||
You should've gotten the Star Seed.
I got a Sun seed or something
but as i did the next thing where you have to put the seeds in these terminals nothing happened
Atlas
Oh sorry, I thought I got back to you. If you've got the Star Seed, the game then gave you the coordinates to a specific black hole which is supposedly the star you birthed (if you chose to birth it), but it's not a new star system made after the quest, it was already there.
You can install the Star Seed to give you a health bonus by 1.
That wraps the Atlas Path.
Hey guys what do we know about the new update?
nothing at all besides Sean Murray saying it's a missing piece of sci-fi fantasy they've always wanted to add
Sean also keeps using the eye emoji -- 👀 -- on Twitter. In the past, emojis teased a particular update
so for the companion one, it was a ball of yarn, because cats/animals play with yarn. and for the origins update, it was an orange, because it sounds like origins
wasn’t origins using the only emoji that was a play on words?
every other emoji seems to be literal references
hmmm yeah can’t remember
And do you guys know when the update is coming?
very soon ™️
there was an internal steam update on friday
Nice nice
that usually means really really really astronomically soon
so probably within this week
anyone remember this fake e3 leak
i distantly remember that word used for a false update
Thanks
I hipe they add enemies cause its the thing that make no mans sky not perfect it need a puros to survive
Purpose
yep. no man’s sky future channel is a good place to talk about dat stuff
i don’t think we have any inside info on combat stuff/enemies
what do you mean with "if you chose to birth it"?
tier 1 is 96%
will be ready in a couple of hours and the item itself doesn't actually exist properly in files
so if people are able to buy it they won't be able to build it. At least the item descriptions are missing from the build menu UI
Ummm I see
Wait really? I save edited the items into my known list, they work perfectly and have the description
The next tier currently isnt buildable and lacks descriptions
it was about the trailer drop date of beyond
well either date or time
what
it does?
The only stuff that isn't buildable are those new pipes
And also yeah the cave parts are missing descriptions
@mental socket
the other two also have full descriptions
oh
Weeeee
POV you just dupes a void egg
where on Atlas simulation do I put remembrance?
it seemed I couldn't find that "secret door" behind the level 3 door or whatever it is
@stuck rose The Rememberance terminal is not guaranteed to generate behind every level-3 locked door.
ah that explains why I couldn't find it on any terminals possible I visited
not yey
t
okay question again
just how long this base computer archives quest mission is?
@stuck rose If you're receiving tech mods as a reward at this point, you've reached the point where it just repeats endlessly
oh haha
ive been doing that mission for like 15 times
thank you for letting me know
20%
20 seconds

SENTINEL HARASSMENT
HOLY SHIT
SOMEONE GO TO THE STATION CORE
GO TO THE STATION CORE AND TELL US WHAT'S THERE
YES STATION CORE
Didn't Hello hire some guy a couple of years back who specialises in just this stuff?
STAT
STATION CORE PLS
WILL DO
Someone check the settings to see if they added Fidelity FX Support
Also i think
someone wants me to check out space station core?
I can do that
just loading game now
the Sentinels are different, can't be sure if they're just using the corrupted sentinels for this mission or the entire line is updated
I'm about to load to that and test the override
New Sentinels would be pog
Marian ?
I'm not sure
I'll have to check at a normal
yeah i remmeber a sim settlemnt quote/post on how they liked that mod.... WELP we can see it now!!
encounter
like
So this is what I see when I open up the Build Menu:
I'm kinda disappointed the update is just settlements, but I'll take it anyway
new roofs
i cant describe
Whole new building UI?
that UX looks nice, thats new!
We only see the one part
poggers
anything else besides base building ? or it's all base buidling? 😢
:)))))))))))))))))
WOWO
STATION CORE
Updated mechanics?
PLS
We gonna fun
YES
smoother
What the actual fuck
Tighter perhaps?
Solve disputes? Meaning I can finally shoot a Vykeen in the face?
and here i thought they were done with base building. They said that Origins is the start of something new. Guess no
You can rename it too
but i got out of my space station in the anomaly, immediately started to move and was like woah whats going on
SEAN TWEET THREAD
more.. sensitive
HE STARTING
Station core still says my override chip is counterfeit
Any new moves like crouch or anything? Rolling?
same here
so core wasn't a feature of this update.... hmmm
Now, can we manually Place settlements or do we have to find them in the wild?
cores look like 👀 so I was sure...
🤣
Lol
Seething
Any planet generation overhaul???
It could still be in the update, just need something special with the override
Ruo, u mad bro?
or a smaller side update
Huh, Expeditions isn't even in the mode select anymore
idk if im dissapointed
maybe it needs to be legitimately obtained, or its an expedition/community goal thing
the heck, they really got rid of it
Oh wait, there it is
rip expedition
New images
Ooh
expedition no more
man i just cant get over how good the mode select looks
First pics insane
So.. no exploration content? Just city building?
what's new
We dont know
what's the biggest thing
Cities
okay..
settlements
now we have the government
At least those people can finally be quiet about it lol
There's a bar in there, geks just chilling around
Well I was wrong about that. I was sure they wouldn't add settlements
So, NPC farms when?
Next update focus exploration plz
One update out of the way
👀
slowly but surely
we are becoming
Spore 2: Space Phase Boogaloo
Any patch notes
maybe expedition
Can you get missions and stuff from there
BRUH
they went back to base building after saying that Origins is the start of something new smh
What in the
also... not sure but it would seem the plant variety increased
seans tweets right now are being a big wholesome chungus
It’s a cities update?
me too, not mad tho
if y'all imagined something way bigger for "cities" you have unreasonable expectations considering the way this game is structured. also i imagine settlements get larger as they achieve 'town' status.
Where are the NOTES
Its always wholesome when he tweet his heart out
i just never expected settlement
yeah seems like there is a settlement system

nonexistent along with console release
Interesting
Frontiers looks more and more like a minor update than a yearly one
Some sort of management system for cities, not what I was expecting but looks cool
Well they usually wait till later add the update to console
At least its one update peopme wont request
Soo im like
Not really?
Do the NPCs appeared to have some kind of behavioral programming? Are they moving around and doing things or are they relatively static?
FREEEE
cool
they updated controller bindings on steam internal the other day
wonder what that was for?
they move around, not sure how much they do atm
it was all controllers even switch
Yes really. Yearly updates usually add more than just a new type of activity
No now they'll just want bigger cities and more base building lmao
Ill take it
Okay Sentinels aren't different
Any expedition tho?
Just the ones for the mission
Settlements have no landing pads?
so anything else besides building ?
They're using the Corrupted Sentinels
Hmmm
Someoe translate pls
Where did you get it
gas giants ?
daw, the mission spawned at my least favourite planet type
some minor minute 30 time gating on building overseer's office for no apparent reason lol
presumably u can have multiple settlements
we civ now?
can you elaborate? not sure i understand this
you get a private golden atlas station
@crisp fern there will be timers and more timers!!!!
cant wait to see the settlements in civs
i did not expect them to add cities
:BlobHeart:
u gotta build settlement stuff, and so far it's 90 seconds per step, presumably it gets longer
I like it
TODD HOWARD YOU BASTARD
how to find the new cities
oh preston garvey just walked into my new office
Anything new with space station cores?
EVERY HOME PROCEDURAL
ah, thanks!
Do you guys know if there will be combat?
I am super excited for this! I've been wanting this for a long time! I was planning to go to bed at a decent time tonight... I guess Sean had different plans for me.
THIS IS SICK
*updated
how to build a settlement
so what does this update contain?
can you have multiple settlement?
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CITY MANAGEMENT
Simcity! @winged arrow
How to find the settlemenets
So I hope bases will now actually load in properly
