So, does Atlas Eternal just keep going or does it eventually end? I have given a world, fauna and flora to Atlas.
Actually eternal
Okay, purge it is then.
Does everyone after the purge start in Hilbert Dimension? And that is a galaxy, correct?
Someone have the golden radiant btw ?

The main storyline The Artemis Path is composed of these missions:
- Awakenings
- Alone Amidst the Stars
- Ghosts in the Machine (requires progression in Expanding the Base, a secondary quest)
- A Leap in the Dark
- The First Traveller
- Patterns in Time
- 16 / 16
- The Purge - 16 warps in any direction. It does not require travelling to the core.
- New Beginnings - Like the Space Anomaly mission, this will forever remain in your Log tab (even after this quest's completion).
Do not reuse portals found via the storyline to prevent bugs.
ā For in-depth questions about these missions, ask in #nms-spoilers, or in #nms-questions with spoiler tags --

š Did you know? The Atlas Path and The Purge mission can be completed in tandem.

Make sure the steps below are completed.
ā ļø Use #bot-spam for FAQ commands below & check #nms-questions for the latest details about the update.
- Finish the Artemis Path (main story).
Run !Faq-ArtemisPathin #bot-spam. - Lift the Seal from a Harmonic Camp.
Run !Faq-Interceptorin #bot-spam. - Warp to any system -- if that triggers a freighter battle, you must warp again.
ā This information has been verified as of <t:1694212090:D> (after Update 4.44) & is subject to change.

With update 4.44, completion of the mission, A Trace of Metal is no longer required. A Settlement used to be needed -- except on Switch, where you'd have to trigger it by warping 25 times.
It's all a simulation.
Ayup. Welcome to the waterline of the iceberg.
I've found Artemis.
š«” š„ šŖ¦
Created a tomb for her.
And a temple over it.
SHE DIES?!
Well youāre in the spoilers channel soā¦
Technically this isnāt fully true
greetings
what if the exotic planets were meant to be normal looking planets but halfway through the atlas casually downloading them the data inside the planets got corrupted which caused them to become exotic
i like to imagine hydro gardens were originally intended to be lush worlds but the data inside them got corrupted
It is in my storyline š
Same
I felt it was the morally "right" thing for Artemis
"Terraforming Nightmare"
I finished the Atlas path missions and is it weird that I find us/the player sharing our/their discoveries with the Atlas adorable? I don't remember the dialogue for it and Idc if the Atlas is just a program. I'm just picturing it as the equivalent of the player holding up a drawing (cool discovery) up to the Atlas to put onto the fridge (make a solar system or something i forgot)
||what did the gek dominion do and what why did it fall||
well, she is already dead, you can bring back a "copy" of her in a new simulation, or let her rest.
|The Gek dominion, the First Spawn, were an empire that spread themselves far and wide after their home planet fell, and they took homes of others by conquering planets with near-unstoppable amounts of forces, with advanced tactical motifs. The reason they fell was not due to themselves, but due to a race the First Spawn had enslaved and melted down for valuable metals and components: the Korvax. Some slaves would cut themselves open near Gek birthing pits, letting their nanite-infused blood āmutateā the unborn Gek, causing chemical imbalances in their brains, which caused them to slowly abandon war, and adopt trading, and worshipping the Atlas as time went on, basically making the two races blood brothers. Theyāre still quite distinct from one another, due to the way each of them are created, however.|
Does that make sense?
Wait why spoilers no work
makes sense
i think that korvax had some resources on thier home planet as well?
Yeah, I assume the First Spawn are also the reason why Korvax Prime was destroyed
They were basically tiny pheromone-emitting space Mongols
(When Genghis Khan was still around)
Do h think korvax evolve or were they made
Need double column ||
The Korvax were made as a mechanical lifeform, who build themselves
I wish the base NPCs had some kind of real usefulness after their quests were done. They're mostly just there doing nothing.
h o w....?
If username, I just āŖļø
If Korvax, they were created that way when the Atlas was making iterations
What pros are there, story wise, to resetting the simulation at the end of the Artemis Path? I was wanting a quick way to Eissentam, but it doesn't feel like resetting makes much sense.
From what you're told, resetting seems pointless at best and harmful at worst.
Well, visiting Eissentam is resetting the simulation no matter how you travel to it. If you think that a simulation using the 'lush' parameters would be better than one using the default parameters, that's the story justification.
Also the Atlas running more simulations theoretically is allowing it to improve on each iteration, and also allows it to gain more data/a better understanding of the universe
at this point Atlas is just tired of its children
"don't make me put you in an exosuit again!"
iirc, you're told during the story that the Atlas has likely already reset countless times, and it doesn't really change anything. The only reason your character gives if you choose to reset is "I want to see what happens".
I guess even if it doesn't really change anything or is even brought up again, I prefer Nada and Polo to remember all that we've done together.
Just seems a bit anticlimactic to walk away from the Atlas at the end I suppose
Artemis dies.
Again and again and again.....
Ay so. I know this is not a DIRECT question towards lore and stuff.
BUT
It's technically still a part of the world lore I guess since players are cannon I think
So my question is... Well, what stories or background did you give for your character/avatar. IF you gave it one?
Generic isekai.
Always was.
need help!
I found the atlas interface (where u reset the simulation at the end of atlas path) and I have all the galaxy options available to me still
when i first finished the story I think i picked lush and got eissentam
if I now pick other options will I get new galaxies or nah
Nanites, bunch of single cellular sized pieces coming together to form a mass of a single entity from a collective hive mind from the swarm. Their bodies or shells just hold the physical form their newly made ego feels most comfortable in. *(personal speculation)
i think they evolved
LMAO
That emoji lol
Nah. The Korvax did questionable stuff to stop the gek genocides and slavery.
They genetically modified the gek spawn pools. Using Nanites to change the way the Gek function. Fully letting the Korvax go
That's not questionable, it's actually a really interesting solution considering they were enslaved
Instead of going for revenge they just let the new Gek be and go about their business
No hate for the Gek, they just wanted to live and let live
There's an archive log that's specifically about that
it doesn't give a definitive answer, but 3 theories made by the korvax themselves
- They were always machines and were made that way(presumably by the Atlas)
- They were built by an organic species that isn't them and became conscious
- They were organics before and slowly transformed themselves (or were forced by other species) into machines
We know there are many universes in NMS so I assume 2 and 3 can be true depending on the iteration. 1 is the fourth wall breaking and definitely true one if you look at it as a meta narrative
Korvax my beloveds
Personally I never liked the treatment of the three races, because they're basically racist views of distinct groups, in the same way that D&D has historically said that all Orcs are inherently evil, etc. I know that Atlas probably created these archetypes in order to simulate broad experiments about cultural clashes, but it doesn't make how they are viewed in the lore any more palatable.
Especially when they're all functionally identical in terms of gameplay. They should have just stuck with the idea of each appealing to one of the three main playstyles instead of attaching weird morality to them
I'd love to see a scientist gek or a trader korvax, just to show that the labels are just labels and there's a significant population who don't adhere to the stereotype of their race
Anybody do the quicksilver glitch? 1st glitch thing I have ever purposefully done in a game.
If you can somehow pick again (you shouldn't be able to) then it would send you to the next type in numerical order
So another lush would take you from Eissentam (10) to Isdoraijung (19) - the next lush galaxy
bro i am so happy
organic freighters when
Ok ty
So I'm at the point in the story where it's asking me to upload Artemis to the sub Sim or end his suffering and I'm very torn, on one hand they get to live on, bit if they ever find out or figure out that they are no longer real...., on the other hand they are no longer suffering, but they are dead
Choice dont mater much. Choice just changes some dialog. Do what your guts tell u.
That doesn't help.....lol

The Purge
The space Anomoly (reset)
The Atlas path
Can we get this lampshade head too?
It was an expedition reward, Singularity exped
So it's already available for players who completed it or used other methods to get it
For that matter, I've never seen it in the wild lol.
Not much players want to have roomba or table with cloth on their head. But after boot in a jar. Who knows.
You will still have your entire inventory, but all of your tech will be broken and require repairs.
I finally got my first interceptor, and organic frigate
Does anyone remember doing the first open day for Worlds 2?
I have thalassophobia (fear of the ocean, deep waters, drowning, etc) and this game is less scary than Subnautica so Iām playing the Dreams Of The Deep questline as therapy! Playing in third person really helps, makes it feel less realistic. Has anyone else got phobias that this game helped them with?
Autophobia
Phobia of cars or of being alone? Iām glad to hear the game helps you work on the phobia, itās no different from going to therapy for it in my opinion if it gets the same result š
How are they different?
what happens if i don't reset the simulation?
All your stuff will still break, but you will not be transported to another galaxy and you will be put on a random planet in Euclid.
okk thanks
are there bots that follow people and land beside them? is this happening to anyone else?
wdym by follow? there is a feature called landed pilots, they are npcs that randomly land and offer x class upgrades.
Your squadrom follows u. But i dint think they can land with u
The gek hate is actually insane they have literally biologically changed and donāt have the thirst for war anymore and most gek I meet are usually really nice just a little greedyš
Korvax changed them . Not because geks want to be better tho
A quick commentary: I'm doing the main questline for the second time ever -- first was when I got the game, in 2021 -- and knowing everything... it hits differently.
Just got through the first contacts with Artemis on a heavy heart.
Do we know the location of korvax prime or other species home worlds
Even if we ignore the fact most gek are really nice to try and compensate for the actions of the first spawn they still are biologically changed and no longer want war anymoreš
Can hello games add a happy ending when The game stops getting updated? š¦
There really isn't anything much they can do in terms of capping off the lore that people have been building upon for the past nine years. The day is coming when they'll stop developing for PS4 and Xbox One due to their hardware limitations and the only thing they can do is a massive hotfix that fixes a load of bugs to give us a more pure game.
Korvax prime is gone
I forget about the others if their current states were mentioned
I don't think it will be hardware limitations, they have already shown with the Switch version they will just leave out things. But the day is coming when the manufacturers themselves stop support for games on those systems.
The difference is that the switch doesn't have multiplayer, or by extension cross-play which last gen consoles do.
They can either continue to not add large features that can't work on old consoles, or they can drop them from cross-play multiplayer support
If they decide to stick with the former, they'll eventually have to do the latter when Sony/Microsoft drop online support from those consoles anyway
Found this string of numbers on the vulture (behind the comand deck window)

Not sure if i needed to post here but can someone help me, I've now completed main atlas missions and then the autophage introduction ( up to me interacting with an atlas interface and speaking to nala) I'm unsure if there is anything after this now?
i think those are just flavour text decal, its on most, or probably all of the haulers
might be someone's birthday on the dev team
possibly
I think there is the base computer archives quest still
And the Artemis quest
What can I do in the game after beating the main story
I reset the simulation and got a new galaxy but itās not too much different
I only encountered one new-game plus-esque feature and it was some explorer giving me a inventory slot for free through a āinventory memoryā or something
this is a sandbox game at heart, the story is just a bonus. so just dig in to whatever mix of things you want to do -- explore planets, build bases, find the perfect ship, set up farms, go on derelict freighter missions, whatever floats your boat
Finishing main story line is one of the steps to unlock further story missions related to Autophage race and purple star systems
Check out the commands !faq-echoes and !faq-purplesystems in #bot-spam respectively
Aside from that, there's still a lot to do, like Solar hinted the game opens into a sandbox experience
Exploring different planets, in-game photography, collecting and upgrading ships, getting frigates and sending them on missions, completing side quests, base building, Nexus missions and expeditions
Iām on the atlas quest and it gave me and option to birth a new star or to walk away and return: does either one reset my progress or anything
Nope
It just let me birth a new star, and then I refused it afterwards
And it ended the quest
So I can choose to either end the questline or have atlas eternity
question - so I've finished the Atlas path and rebooted into a new lush galaxy - but I cant see the In Stellar Multitudes and I cant get access to the new star types. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

thank you
are we going to get or can we get a galactic space cop community to chase troll in the game for cool stuff like upgrades and ships or even unique weapons ,, that will be cool
I know it's dumb, and I know it mechanically doesn't matter, but still.
are there any particular implications I should know about
it's just like
a simulation
nada made a simulated solar system and you can put artemis in it instead of just letting them die or smth
so you choose whichever option you think is best
It's tough, y'know? And I like that in a game. None of it really matters, the game is a game. But then it shoves this question into you
the implication being a single system is... Oof. After I've explored so many
stupid video game making me cry.
am really struggling - Primary Missions are The Space Anomaly, Atlas Eternal, and New Beginnings and yet I havent found a single harmonic camp yet. Any tips?
You need to find a dissonant system, go to a dissonant planet and blow up an inverted mirror to get an echo locator
am on a dissonant plant - not sure what an inverted mirror is?
ah
Blowing them up will either give you an inverted mirror or an echo locator
`cant see any atm - will move a bit with the ship and will re-scan
Sounds good
can see radiant shards but that's it
found a resonator 300au way - omw
okay - have an echo locator. thank you
Great!
So I got a new multi tool but haven't a clue what comes next
Go back to the terminal and search for dissonance spikes
You're looking for a dissonant resonator. They look kinda like drills, with corrupted Sentinels guarding them.
Sentinels won't bother you until you fire on it. Walk up and check if it has an inverted mirror or an echo locator. If it's an echo locator, destroy the resonator to get it. The Sentinels will attack you, but you can just run.
Activating the echo locator will mark a harmonic camp for you. You need to unlock the terminal there.
I am at the quest part to go to the center of the galaxy. Do I need to finish up secondary quests, or the Atlas Path before I continue and finish the main story line?
lore or?
the purple systems imply Void Mother is infecting the simulator
After all
They Will Return, In Stellar Multitudes
I do love mothers and multitudes
my cup of tea is the expeditions
Yeah and we probably need an interstellar fishing group or somethingš¤Ŗ
I would love a fishing guild, actually.
Artemis Path (Colourized) circa 161616
surprised we haven't gotten any sort of 'skeleton in a space suit' anywhere in the game yet
give it time, we just got fossils
since its such a staple of classic sci fi art
You're right though. It'd fit in with the theme so well
would make a nice helmet option or something, if they do a halloween update this year I could see it
do it like dark souls bloodstains, but they aren't limited to the location. it's how another player died replayed in a hologram. You follow them getting bodied or flying into a mountain to find the skeleton space suit
adding the ability to add a message whenever you died would be bonus points. I'd be able to spiral myself into the ground and have my death message as "oops afk" for the random person who finds it three years later
We have helmets gloves and boots floating around in derelicts
Bc there is a teory that there is nothing in the anomaly space suit
...considering you can have a glowing orb or a fishtank in place of a head, that's a reasonable theory lol.
looks like a portal
I'm looking at beginning my intergalactic travels after finishing the main quest lines. How do I change between galaxy systems? Without warping to someone else's position as I mainly play by myself.
Warping through the galactic core will take you to the next galaxy on the list

Awesome thank you I'll give it a go next time I log in š
Quick question in and out. Iām now starting towards the galaxyās center. Is the plot of the game that itās a video game?
Like, am I going through an existential crisis?
No
Yes
Do I have to leave the first galaxy to complete the atlas quest line?
The Atlas Path? Don't think so.
Also, lol, the convo above might be my review for the game on Steam.
"Am I going through an existential crisis?"
"Yes."
Whether you're going through an existential crisis is left up to the player, but Atlas definitely is
Almost feel sorry for the Crimson Liar
yeah, I guess its creators didn't really consider Atlas alive, or didn't care enough to bring it with them. At least they gave it the choice of staying alive vs. being shut down, but millennia of solitude would probably make anyone go a bit cuckoo. then you add in its hardware failing and it's not having a good year
have there been any interesting data mines recently?
Brother where is the update š«
When it is ready.
didnāt we just get like two updates lol
no mans gets a lot more frequent updates than most games tbh
Peak game
No, not recently
Months ago the weird ship type was found - seems to be a larger ship than our personals but smaller than a frigate - Corvette. Has a place to build on, it seems
What ship ?
Called a Corvette in the texture files
I also saw something about new audio files for the player? Heavy breathing, and that kind of idle sounds with different voice types.
Sweet, I haven't seen those
But i am more excited about the corvettes!
Bomberboi found them i think? It mentioned two voice types (male/female?) and an alien one as well as a fourth for no audio.
Very interesting
It could also become new expedition reward types or quicksilver items i bet! If they add different voice types that way? Like robotic, Gek, Korvax etc. But that's me hypothesising now.
This makes me hopeful that corvettes aren't just an idea they played with and couldn't implement. if they're making room designs then clearly the idea is moving forwards.
Different voices for the suit would be welcome too
Seems like it yeah
Yes I think there was something about the suit voice too. Again i think it was just male and female options
@grizzled apex Would be the one to ask tho.
I'm anxious we haven't seen an emoji for tomorrow. Means either there's no update or its just something small like an expedition he will tease on the day.
Need a little break, already 2 expeditions this year
I'm guessing June for whatever is next
As much as I enjoy the odd expedition, i could definitely do with just an update without it needing an expedition tagged onto it.
The FOMO makes me feel like i have to do the expedition before I can enjoy the new content. But then because the expedition makes me collect 80 bones, i'm mostly exhausted on the new content before i finish the expedition š¤£
I am still crossing my fingers for an overhaul to POIs on planets, because i feel like that's the last piece of the puzzle missing from the worlds updates.
The actual reason to travel and explore on foot
They started a bit, adding harmonic camps, Autophage, and now excavation sites
Hopefully that continues
Also the lol quests outposts can give you
yes exactly. I would like them to almost have an update dedicated to it. Or piecemeal it and have an update that fleshes out each
But those sucklll
like an update to the ruins
Yes the procedural missions desperately need a revisit! They came all the way back with Atlas Rises and have not changed much since.
an update at all tomorrow is looking unlikely though. Wouldn't at least some of the sales on platforms already be on?
The super cynic in me predicts it'll be an expedition only, and it will give us the parts to the stone mech from the last update as parts we can actually use.
It does seem like they were possibly aiming for an update with the expedition ending on a wednesday, but I don't expect one this week.
every expedition starts with an end date and it's totally possible that in the time since they set this one that something came up and they had to delay the release of whatever they're working on
Don't forget about how they teased the Orbital update's space stations at the game awards but ended up doing multiple updates before releasing them, or how the original in game slash text for worlds part I hinted at part II releasing the same summer
there's no next expedition set serverside yet, so nothing on that front. I kinda expected something to drop this wednesday but it looks like they're giving taking break between relics and the next drop
Yep, just these few text entries. No actual settings so far iirc
Alien tones pls thx
I wonder whether having the suit voice off is one of these things where I think i'll want it now, but then when I have it it'll feel lonely without it
would you normally see something serverside by now? how can you tell?
Imagine if the new voices came with a full immersive update to first person where we can see our bodies and arms. It's already possible with VR, so something for the rest of us would be great. The thing holding it back would be the weapon reloads.
But not having our multitool floating in the air would be amazing.
Seeing your arm come up and the holographic display like VR for the quick menu, even if you pull it up in your ship.
they pushed a next expedition number for relics a week or so after WPII dropped, so its kinda up in the air when they decide to push these things. Usually i've noticed that expeditions which are a part of a larger update (ex liquidators and titan) aren't pushed serverside until after that update drops, and that expeditions pushed before their respective update drops are usually expedition only or paired w/ a small content update (ex relics, aquarius, the cursed), although HG can really break pattern at any time š
Given that it's my conspiracy theory that the expedition terminal was deliberately brought in to one day house a full list of expeditions at the end of NMS' life, where we can replay them at will, I think they need to be careful about what expeditions they bring in the future.
I feel the redux version of beachhead was them maybe refining one of those earlier expeditions for when that happens. And Omega consolidated some rewards from other expeditions. I think they'd have to drop some of the expeditions, but also the more they 'just throw expeditions out there' the more work they are making for themselves if they do eventually have an update that makes expeditions all permanent.
they kinda have to tweak older expeditions anyway since they love introducing one-off properties to the expedition structure which older exped files don't have. Its probably an automated fix, but they didn't really plan the system out for backwards compatibility, and they're not doing a lot of favour for future HG with how they structure new exped content rn either
Exactly. Ones like leviathan, cursed, emergence etc were great because they had a unique theme. But the first, beachhead, omega and i think it was fractal? Are all really the same expedition with different rewards.
The more i think about my immersive idea the more i think that might be something they could and probably should port back from LNF if it even has first person mode. They can kind of get away without a player model in NMS because the hands would be offscreen anyway with the multitool. But swords, shields, bows etc are going to look conspicuous all floating around without visible hands holding them.
and it would pair nicely with all the new audio files for exersion. Seeing hands when we sprint or flailing while we fall.
(and finally FINALLY, our characters could put some kind of sci fi binoculars up to their face when using the scanner like in the key art, rather than just making hand binoculars 𤣠)
There's even been the binoculars model on Artemis since before we even had player models lol
On the topic of old expeditions, I kinda think that the terminal is meant to eventually serve that purpose too, though logistically it would be a lot of work for them to do.
I'm certain that one of the reasons expeditions run for limited time is because they rely on set planets. As the game updates, those planets will get changed and old milestones may no longer be possible. HG don't want to have to ensure that expeditions are future proof, and they don't want to have future updates limited in scope by what will or will not break some old expedition that most players aren't going to do more than once
For a final update it makes sense, but still, needing to update all the expeditions to still be playable will be a lot of work, and if the game is already at the end of its life cycle at that point I'm not sure they'll want to do it
Since it's May, I wonder if this will be it until the summer update
Since that would only be a month or two away anyway
This is actually a really good point.
I do think they'll find some way to bring back all the rewards once they do shutter the game one way or another tho. But I hadn't thought of how updates might impact old expeditions.
Has the community progress hit 100%? Because they will at least have to have that move over to the next set of rewards.
I remember when that was the only measure we had of how long until the next update, when they didn't come in straight after one another. And you could judge how long we had to wait by how quickly if filled and how much time they were buying themselves.
its pretty close rn i believe. The rollover date for the next CM to start wasn't set until yesterday I believe, and that one's now currently expected to end somewhere in june.
UH OH!
i can check that rq actually
there's still at least 3 more tiers after this one in the files though, so theres no urgency to update the awards yet
Although if there really isn't an intermittent update, waiting until June might mean its something more substantial.
corvettes
has cm progress correlated with update releases recently? I thought the last few tiers have been kinda independant of when an update dropped. Iirc they've been pushing the peeping fauna banner back by several tiers since they keep cramming more update specific rewards in between š
oh maybe it's not a good measure anymore? I haven't really kept track since updates started coming in one after the other!
Here's the tin hat theory: its a light no fire trailer tomorrow and Sean doesn't want to disappoint the exclusively NMS fanbase by doing an emoji that only leads to a LNF trailer!
that clock tweet was odd, was wondering if that was a hint for an LNF Trailer 2
chances of that being the case: 0.00000000000001%
I think that was just poor sean making a joke that youtubers desperate to make content latched onto and blew out of proporitions š¤£
They kept saying its some hint that Ai is coming to NMS, but imagine the server load if every person playing NMS was inadvertently making call outs to an Ai to generate content. Forget about the poor offline players who miss out.
oh god that was taken horrendously out of context... I got the joke and it was a pain to see all those low quality clickbait videos drop
They said the little blue dot was a teeny world and a hint to LNF. I am pretty sure that's some kind of cursor hehe
Yes I was surprised by Captain Steve tho! I thought usually he rises above that.
But he probably farmed that the most!
the closest thing to an LNF hint might've been the 5 pixels of a video icon that image had, but yea that was pretty far fetched anyway
you'd be surprised...
I thought Cynical was the naughty one. Tho he seems to have tried to wind it down a bit before people stopped clicking on his videos altogether!
"Content" Creators in most communities do a very poor job of covering the basics lately, but since the NMS community is relatively smaller anyway, it seems to get dominated by people creating farmable content.
I suppose that's true.
I like GhostLight and Kanaju though, their videos are generally well researched and clearly take a while to make! Lots of production value there.
I've been meaning to go through and compile the game's lore for a while, and their videos are usually a good reference when im misremembering a reference
I haven't seen much of ghostlight tho i might have run into a few of his. Kanaju's generally yes are high quality and only really there when there's actually something to talk about.
I think the difference is those two are doing it as a hobby on the side rather than trying to make a business out of it where you're beholden to make videos daily to try and keep engagement up.
I see captain steve has tried to branch out to try and cover the quiet times, but i think his audience is so intrinsically tied to NMS.
Yea I believe YT's algorithm really makes it hard for passion project channels to shine that way, and rewards the content farms we see popping up quite often, which is kinda sad when you see a well put together video get less attention than something rushed out for clicks
oh yes definitely.
I've been getting back into the Devil May Cry community recently, and they've got this same problem of "slop" creators rehashing ideas from older passion channels in a worse way, and ending up with a lot more attention
I would love if we had a Vaati Vidya for NMS :p
I bet that's even harder because there's no new content at all. At least NMS is regular enough that you can reasonably do new content quasi regularly.
yep, but i guess it shows that the content farm issue is pretty widespread across fandoms.
I think the convo got a llil off topic for the spoilers channel though š
Yes true!
Well i think i am just living off a lot of copium for the fact none of the stars have aligned for an update tomorrow.
I would be happy with an update that wasn't grandiose, but just added some new content. Like adding some new rooms to the space station, or adding a new procedural ship class based on the Runner design, stuff like that
I've happy with an update that did nothing but fix all the bugs in the Catalogue. š
POI & Fauna overhaul and the game would be complete for me. There could be even more stuff sure, but these are the core parts of the game which I feel are still lacking. Especially POI's are ancient at this point. I really hope that Worlds Pt.3 is a thing and that it adresses either fauna or POIs
yeah I was hoping the Relics update would replace the ruins POIs with procedurally generated architectural ruins, something to make them cool explorable locations rather than just a marker to dig up some things
cracks open soda can
Artemis is the Atlas
We are all Atlas my brother, Amen.
i was hoping for this too
I wish they would but that's where adding a corvette might open a whole can of worms!
Maybe even something neat on our freighters for launching it
its less about making the corvette work and more about how you work around a new giant ship type!
Yeah for sure
it has a hangar so i guess for some thing you would just write off that it can't
like no landing at space stations
still have to get in your personal ship and fly in those yourself
landing might be hard. Could have it hover above the planet by a few u and have a teleporter to get you down the rest of the way
because we struggle to find a suitable landing spot for our regular sized ships!
Titanfall the rest of the way, low orbit hovering
Just like this!
And yes, being able to just get up from your seat at any point, even in the middle of space to just 'park it' would be nice
and then that can of worms means they would have to then add zero-G EVA mechanics
floating in space rather than falling in space.
The dream
I would love it. But this is what i mean by the corvette is actually the easy part
all the ramifications around it existing are the hard part.
Knowing them it will start with just the ship and then other things will coalesce in the future
I wouldn't mind that if it means we get the corvette when its done and not when all the other parts are done too
Same
I could be wrong but i feel this is the first time in a while where we're at the end of something and have no news of when an update might be coming? I know it used to be the way but i feel at least for the last year we've always had something ongoing?
Expeditions and Worlds have filled the days for sure
This is pretty typical each year though, May seems like a break time
June is my prediction for the next whatever it is
I suppose that's true.
actually I wonder how big the corvette is... š¤
feel like most people are guessing smaller than a frigate, but the frigates have open air landing pads because they don't really have space for hangars
They would with a different design though
I'm think the "hangar" would be more like a loading bay, on the smaller side
The exterior texture is the same as the frigate one, iirc. Doesn't give much idea of scale but does for level of detail
Hopefully it works out how they want, and we get it on the soon side - very curious about it
I'd imagine the next update will be June maybe, and will probably be Corvettes
this month
trust
emoji dropping this week trust me trust
What's Corvettes ?
Wait are there sneak peeks for the next update ?
nuh! just datamines of things that may come to the game proper.
And corvettes is one that's been datamined.
Just some bits datamined like building parts being tied to a flyable ship
textures for it
kind of, smaller (maybe)
and icons for a hangar icon for it, so we know that much about them
oh and because the files have a slot for 'corvette base' and 'friends corvette base'
likely we can visit each others
I love this game
and (personally i am hoping) we can have players in them as we fly them
well. this is all not confirmed!
its only in the files in pieces. plenty of things have been in the files that never came to fruition!
Do you know how often these things do end up getting in the game ?
nuh! altho the fact they keep adding more parts makes me think its more likely to come in some fashion than not
I could be wrong but i think someone said there's even model files that we cant access at the moment because of the tools being out of date
But i'm no dataminer so i am only relaying what i've read second hand
why do they leave all this stuff in the files ._.
but it sounds like you know a lot anyway so thanks a lot for telling me
game development is a complex thing i guess
its like the fact dataminers found the new space station models in the game a year before we got them proper
and then hello games promptly patched them out so we couldn't be too nosey!
prob accidentally left in there when pushing new builds, maybe its difficult to manage different branches and keep stuff out of certain ones, like stuff from dev branch, especially for experimental branch id guess. if ya wanna be more speculative tho it could be intentional, to generate hype.
Definitely could be either of those if not both!
true and its not like these are huge leaks
They have multiple smaller teams working on each update, so there's probably all sorts of crossover
wait really ?
Yes Sean mentioned how they work in an interview
they are divided between NMS and LNF
but also they have a team with a few months to work on an update, some with longer etc.
he was talking how sometimes the team with the most time might get carried away with it and the scope goes beyond what they originally planned
But yes its not one team just pumping out an update every 6-8 weeks. its kind of a domino of different teams and each one finishes one then i guess starts on their next one which may be 3-4 content drops away.
That's actually really smart
ye
mhm! And i imagine its more fluid with that since i think sometimes they jump between the two projects
i have a feeling next update will drop in a week
or certain things from LNF might be brought into NMS
and it will be smoll tiny one
why ?
we got 2 content updates in a row
like worlds update ?
yes
Wait the twitter account posted a clock emoji ? Doesnt that mean we are getting the update soon ?
I think that was just a joke post from sean that got out of hand
it wasn't an emoji this time. he was commenting on his clock app updating
and joking that 'i hope they add AI' because everything seems obsessed with adding AI these days.
sad š
so a clock app getting AI is kind of ridiculous.
But i think some youtubers eager for content to talk about ran with it because things are a bit quiet on the NMS front at the moment.
cannot wait for the calculator ChatGPT update ā¤ļø
I hope "desktop" and "task manager" get AIs too šš¼
Don't you all give microsoft ideas!
lol
The way AI is going at the moment, the next logical step is it will play our games for us so that we can spend more time cleaning dishes.
AI update for Solitaire when
have they ever dropped small tiny udpates tho
ones like the exomech and living ship ones are arguably 'small'
the cursed, fractals
Yes those were basically expeditions.
omega also kind of? but it did rework expeditions so idk
oh yeah adrift
was also smoll
Oh yeah those just changed stuff
I don't know if we will get the emoji today but i think we will get it soon-ish
I think if the update is coming out june, they'd have worked out some expedition or small drop to tide us over.
i think there are 3 types of updates
small ones - like adrift, the cursed
medium sized - aquarius, relics, omega
biiiig - WP1, WP2, orbital, echoes
I hope they add some hardcore planets that you cant stay on for more then like two minutes lol
They have a stone guardian model for our exomech that we can't currently use that they could have tidied up and dropped to keep us busy for this period
i wish that was gas giants
i havent played since the orbital update idk what they are like
extreme weather deep ocean planets
when u are like 1000u deep
its super hard to survive down here
So i think the fact we have nothing means something is coming this month at some point. less than 6 weeks away anyway
Cuz like i want the game to change a lot untill I start my next character
its just a extreme weather scorched planet but no storms (in terms of threat)
bruh
well since you are in the spoiler part its safe to say: a lot of the new stuff you need to finish the main storyline to see
so it wont feel crazy different until then
my theory is that we are getting an emoji this weekend and the update on wednesday. its gonna be a small one probably
more dangerous than gas giants
ngl the world update is alredy so big that I think after next update ill start my new character
Yes. Things like gas giants and ocean planets you won't see until you've finished the story though
those exist ?
ooooooooh
what's the old terrain
old terrain > new one
Well before next the terrain on planets was super interesting
why did they change it then-
there was a reason why but i dont know it
then i'm guessing multiplayer limitations they neutered the terrain generation too
so its all hills and mountains
and because they didn't want to ruin peoples bases
rather than bring the old terrain back to current planets
they added a whole new class of solar system, purple ones,
which exclusively have the new (old?) terrain
TBH the "pre WP2" generation isnt bad but the one in the purple systems is wayy better
Yes that's true. Its not bad it just is a bit samey after a while.
@safe quarry also i dont think they are reusing old terrain but like they took inspiration from it
Yes you are right
i think its a whole new system, but its similar to the old approach in being a bit more alien and wild
but its easier just to say its the 'old terrain' come back hehe.
since it recaptures more of that old feel
How much playtime do yall have ?
not as much as i should!
maybe this convo should be continued in the main chat as itās not about channel focus anymore
considering i have been on it since day 1
Talking about the purple systems is still spoiler, but yes time played is a main chat discussion
From your knowlege it feels like you made the concept, the game, the servers, the story and the wiki lol
OH
nu uh! I don't know anything. I don't have an atlass pass v4 from getting involved in the ARG!
wat
wait... @safe quarry didnt u had the atlas emissary role?
no? what's that?
ah nvm
I mostly lurked this discord until a few months ago, hehe.
itās meant to only be story spoilers btw
i mostly use this channel to discuss datamined stuff
oh. is the existence of the purple systems not story related tho?
Since we 'bring them back' as part of the story?
u can talk about purple systems but not about the lore behind em
it is but their mechanics is not rly
oki, good to know!
i think the rule means it has to be what happens during one of the story missions
mb
altho singular gleam brought our discussion about the corvettes into spoiler from the future channel
i'm always unsure where hypotheticals ends and spoilers begin!
ye thatās data mined stuff
this channel is for story spoilers and unreleased content
oki dokes
The lore on how and why of purple systems would be considered spoilers
But not their existence
A general rule of thumb is if something is in the patch notes it isn't a spoiler
The Worlds Part II notes show and explain gas giants, ocean worlds, titan planets etc and even mention that there is story content you need to do to get to them
but the content of those story missions is obviously a spoiler, at least for the forseeable future
This is helpful!
Purple systems I assume yāall mean dissonant ?
Nvm I see now
Is that also why the purpleium metal? To make it worthwhile to visit those systems?
Yes, but also there's two very unique planet types that only occur in those systems.
Coolio

Update
Question for yall
During the Artemis quest line. Apollo has you raid a secret korvax facility. To get some data or whatever. But there was an interesting bit of extra choice that happened. Iām paraphrasing for this next part.
Your exosuit detects a small creature in the vent. Your scanner tells you the small hairy creature is some sort of pet and is deathly ill. You are given three options
-
Feed the creature (10 carbon) in which case the pet gets sick and throws it up but keeps trying to eat and you leave it do its fate.
-
Euthanize the creature.
-
Or do nothing.
What did yāall pick? And why did you pick it?
It dies when you try to feed it too
Well yes the exact wording I believe was āyou leave it to its fateā as in it will die
It depends on my mood when I get to it in a save
Iāve done all options
None of them are good or bad
Personally I donāt think Iāve done the third option of doing nothing.
Although that small side bit of dialogue feels like itās teeing up the fate of Artemis
Yep. Do you end it or prolong suffering to give hope? Thatās why this game is a sandbox with an existential crisis
Creature. Euthanize if Iām in a hurry so thereās less dialogue boxes to skip. Morally try to feed the creature. And try to save Artemis. And lie to them about their existence.
I keep checking discord for a Sean emoji, but I guess we're in radio silence for a while
Well this isnāt the official discord so..
sure but seeing no-mans-hype popping up in the channel list is the only way for me to find out if something happened, since I don't use Twitter anymore
it can drop anyday now
Iām curious
When did the purple systems get added?
I havenāt played in a couple years and donāt recall having the side mission to unlock them when I last played - but I also know itās likely I just missed it before
Bit over 3 months ago, end of January
Ahhh word okay, ty!!
Thereās a mission for them?
Yeah
I assume if youāre playing on creative or whatever it just gives you access
But on normal survival yeah, thereās a whole process to getting the purple systems
You have to do the mission to unlock them, though I believe the last 2 expeditions have granted access to them too immediately, and you keep that access if they convert to a normal mode save, skipping the mission
You have to complete the mission for access on all difficulties outside of that though, including creative
sharkie feels like a fool now. He completed the expedition. Then deleted his saves before creating a new save from scratch. Sharkie didnāt get rewards or access
You get the major rewards from all previously completed expeditions for all your saves on your account, claimable from the quicksilver synthesis companion, just that purple system access isn't one of those, it has to be a save that began as an expedition save
Mmmmm
I claimed the rewards. But donāt have the living stone armor. Although maybe I have to claim them again from googly eyes man
You do, just like the other things, as long as you claimed them in the expedition at least
how many paths are there to end the story? i did the atlas path only so far
the atlas path is its own "story". the main one is the artemis path, which technically ends at new beginnings, but there are secondary missions for the ||autophage|| that kind of continue off the artemis path. tbh, the artemis path is not really a path so to speak, in terms of a choice over something else. but its just commonly called that i guess.
i wonder if we get more lore about the void mother in the future
Gof2 reference???
yeah I'm interested to see where they take the story now, and how that plays out with new features/content
I wonder if they're gonna take a break b/w expeditions rn since the next one's 19. The Cursed, Exped 16, being pretty lore heavy makes me wonder if they've saved 19 to be something akin to Singularity 2.0, or another point in the void mother arc.
There's no expedition lined up yet, so the next content update might be content only so far (unless its like Titan and Liquidators where those expeds came a while after the original update. Weirdly silent on Sean's end too.
Yeah. No update untill all qs items unlock imo.
Tier 100 just ended. Tier 101 has a rollover end date of June 4th server side.
Idt QS items are a very reliable indicator of an update drop anymore. They've been pushing the peeping fauna banner back by several tiers for the last few updates just to shove in update specific QS items a fair bit.
Kinda like the banner is a backup for in case we somehow manage to get to the last tier before HG are ready
I'm lowkey thinking that we'll get a June summer update
Something along the lines of endurance size wise
With corvettes and some other bits and bobs
small update at the start of June would have time for a short expedition before a big August update
Switch 2 releases that week. Just sayin'
And if they are doing a minor update for Switch 2, we won't be seeing that emoji until next weekish.
remember the times when we were talking about PS5 pro update
that was sooo long ago
like 5 years? /jk
Oh yea, that might be a good time to drum up interest. Id expect HG to launch on Switch 2 eventually, but im not sure if we'll see a launch title announcement anytime soon.
yeah I heard dev kits were very limited, I'm not sure smaller studios would get one right away
I doubt we are getting switch 2 version exactly on the release of switch 2
I haven't been following Switch 2 stuff but can it play Switch 1 games?
If it can then we'll probably have to wait a little for the Switch 2 version. I'm sure we'll get one though, probably with settlements and maybe even multiplayer
Some of them, for a fee
I believe you can play switch 1 games on s2 for free, the fee is only for enhanced first-party games, of which you can most likely play without that enhancement for free
And whatever third-party games choose to put a price on enhancement too probably
Yep, you are right - I was thinking of the upgrading
It will get both, trust me
Its slighly stronger then ps4 pro
Which has both of the features afaik
So I've heard that datamined stuff is talked about here, ever now and again
does anyone know if there's like a "primary source" for this stuff, like a subreddit or twitter acc or something a person could follow?
As it's pretty hard to find anything about datamines on youtube and the NMS subreddit
The best primary source I've found is this very channel š
We have people here that are familiar with the game files, how to access them, how to check for clues etc.
Mk, thank you
I read about the possibility of Corvettes coming to the game and assumed there might be more, thought i'd check around
I'll just keep my eyes open for news here
Do a quick search on it in this very channel, you'll find what people have gathered so far (not much I reckon, few mentions on game files)
yeah there's some stuff here
looking rn
nothing groundbreaking but it's still helpful
thank you!
Lol
So... what did y'all choose for Artemis' fate?
A single solar system is not a suitable enclosure for a traveller soul. But then they took that simulation and spun it back out into the galaxy so whoops I guess
The machine system
At the Anomaly
I'm pretty sure I let Artemis die
I don't remember exactly but I think my reasoning was that Artemis would've eventually figured out what was going on and it'd be its own kind of hell
Do you get the title āthe lastā if you decide not to reset the simulation?
Or is it only if you reset it do you get the title
||you need to reset the simulation (unless the wiki is inaccurate)||
Aight, ty. Just wanna make sure I get the title
Hostile, Tranquil, Ancestral, or Improved? Which should I go for? Or is there no significant difference?
They type determines biome spawn chances for yellow systems. Hostile means more harsh elements like weather and sentinels. Tranquil is more lush. Ancestral will be more dead, Improved will be normal, like Euclid
they need to add a Gleam type
Just a weird thought- with purple systems, galaxy type kinda matters even less
For a lot of people they're kinda the main star type now
Personal exocraft summoner was a peak addition
Not technically a spoiler but later game technology
One random Worlds Part 2 thing that I love is how for purple systems it feels like there's much less harsh distance for on purple system planets, like you can actually see your freighter during the day
If you aren't actually spending time in yellow systems then all of the galaxy types are the same aside from harsh. I hope that some day HG does another pass on the galaxy types to make them a bit more different because they're a pretty half baked feature tbh
I don't see that changing to be honest... seems impossible without rewriting some of the game's core code
Realistically yeah, would significantly regenerate entire galaxies which I don't think is something they'd want to do
Something like having abandoned galaxies function like abandoned mode could be cool, those are the least well implemented and I don't think many players actually go to them
I guess Ancestral is like Abandoned mode lite?
Sadly, empty galaxies just have much more dead and weird planets in their yellow systems
Their systems have the same chances of habitation as normal
I let them go
Imo puting in simulation has more impact and "layers"
Wait shit our SUIT is Telamon???
not the suit per se, but the suit's AI / entity responsible for all the audio messages like warnings
...Okay wow that final scene of the purple stars getting restored.
That was. So damn atmospheric
speaking of atmospheric, wait until you start exploring those purple stars
i wonder if we ever see the void mother or if she is just a entity that controls things from the shadows
Kinda baffled they seemed to think it was an either-or decision to shove the Artemis copy in the simulation or kill him. Can't you just pop him in and ask him what he wants?
Like, I've talked to this guy like 5 times over a super sketchy connection. I dunno why I'm the most qualified to make end of life decisions for him.
You are the one that took part of his long dead soul
Go on, choose
Stay dead, or be in a tiny system forever knowing you are really dead
Like, it's as if you found someone who's in a coma and they are asking you whether they should pull the plug or not when they have the ability to wake him up and just ask him
No, it's like you scavenged a piece of them
Hey friend, as far as we know your existence up till now was in the meat world, but we found a copy of you in a computer somewhere. We don't know what you want us to do with it. Could you let us know?
You've been talking to dead people the whole time
Now you steal their mind and have moral issues?
But he isn't dead. This is a copy of him. Is he? He's a completely different person. The original Artemis is dead. I'm not talking to him
Not a copy, a stolen piece of the program that isn't even complete
For me, living in a tiny system forever, knowing there is more doesn't sound appealing
I let them go
They are just going to be in the World of Glass with every other removed program
Probably save them in a couple years
What is dead and what is not , thats up to u to decide. Game blurs the line between them
But, like, again. We are told he's experiencing the world in some way even in the "soul cage" so this iteration is demonstrably not dead. We have the means to simulate a world for him to ask him what he wants done. Be it exist in the simulation, oblivion via deletion, or perpetual coma via just stopping the simulation. Leaving this up to him rather than some smuck who he's said a hundred words to seems the objectively correct decision
Terrible for gameplay though. We know you went through all this but you have no option here just do whatever they say
It would be, but that's not a choice we're given
If they're kept alive, they're there forever
If we let them die, they're dead
Is that something we know artemis can do in there? Or would they just re iterate
Tell them to put it on perma
My new meds are going ca-razy and I've been taking notes for an essay I want to do someday about the player-script-protagonist triangle. And...
Gonna ask folks I know for their reasoning behind each choice, because... Yeah.
If anyone has particular feelings about their choice, I'd be cool to hear about it
I "saved" Artemis, but the only problem I've ever had with the whole situation is that the game basically takes away Artemis's agency. They are not given the truth of the situation or a choice in how to live their life
I guess another question that trips folks up: What if you were Artemis and someone was making the decision for you
It becomes a philosophical exercise instead of a narrative. Which I found disappointing because it's one of the few characters in the game that is given any kind of character development
Also, do you tell Apollo or not. I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, but I'm curious about what people choose based on their own experiences
100% agree, but given the themes of the game, it feels appropriate that I'm doing a weird thought experiment
I saved Artemis because of my own personal guilt. I can't let go. But oh boy did I feel extra guilt when they got mad at me for restricting them. My brother let him die first chance he got.
For me, my decision just came down to "do the least harm"
He didn't let Artemis go through any malicious intent. He's been there. We had a brain tumour scare, and it was a coin flip. After that experience, he just... Knew that it's sometimes best to let go.
But me on the other side of that damn coin getting a call about him being in the hospital and punching a nurse in the face? I wanted him to live.
That's the kind of association I'm talking about. I know it's weird and stupid
Just curious if that resounds with anyone. I'll open DMs if anyone has anything to share while I'm at work
I would consider the choices around Atemis to be the most important moment in the story, and probably by extension the broader narrative of the game. The whole idea of the game I think is an exploration of simulation theory. Choosing to put Artemis in the simulation on the Space Anomaly at the time might feel like you are condemning them to a false reality, but ultimately the simulation you put them in isn't really any less 'real' than the universe you and them have been in the entire time.
I think the broader idea, philosophically, is that it doesn't matter if the world around you is code, your experiences are real and are what's really important.
The choice as to whether or not you tell Artemis is the conclusion to that idea - are you better off for knowing?
Idk if I made a wrong choice by speeding through the main quest. Don't spoil the whole thing but does the universe actually end in 16 minutes? Assuming that would just end my game or something, not like it would actually shut down a server lol
16 min in atlas time. For us time flows diffrent.
and as you progress further you uncover more lore about the game
Noted, I'll keep heading towards the galactic core
See this is what I'm talking about. I never even once thought the dilemma was related to one's feelings on simulation theory (despite the game screaming it at us, literally.) so that kind of input is awesome. I was hung up more on the morality part
I never considered the relation to simulation theory either, actually, but that sentiment of "What reality is or is not is irrelevant, you have choices ahead of you and it still matters how you handle them" both recontextualizes the Artemis dilemma (Which I considered more morally-centered like alcaste did) and also recontextualizes the setting of the game itself
I like No Man's Sky, that's evident by me being on this server lol, but I have always struggled with the plot element of "Reality is a simulation - none of what you see, be it NPCs living fake lives, distant stars in the cosmos, or the ruins of fallen civilizations on ancient worlds are actually real" because it always seemed to me like it cheapens the detail of the actual universe
If all the planets we painstakingly survey, build bases on and ultimately call our own are nothing but in-universe lines of code, what's the point?
But now I see that, sure, both us the Players and our characters are aware (to differing degrees) that the universe is a simulation, but animals still live and breathe, travellers still wander the stars - so from our characters perspective, you might as well treat the simulation as if it IS reality. It matters precisely because you have no other choice but to confront it.
TL;DR: While the simulation theory-based plot seems cheap at first it serves as an excellent commentary on understanding perspective and what one would consider real for false, and what the ramifications of that would even be. Everyone has a different take on reality because there isn't an objective reality
also it's occurring to me that this whole spiel sounds like AI lmao I promise it isn't
Oh don't worry, it's the kind of weird rambling I'd do
The situation also gets sticky when we realize that there's a difference between Travellers (NPC) and Travllers (Players). Artemis seems like something in between
Artemis allegedly had the same capabilities as us, which included connecting with other players outside the simulation. Saving him cuts him off from that
lol so in-universe we're just fucking with some other player's perma-death save lmao
it's both funny and trippy to think about the narrative "layers" of the game
Us, the players, exist in some capacity iirc, then our characters are also experiencing the simulation from the "first person", whilst also being aware of the simulation's existence but presumably not our's
That's the delta I'm trying to write about, the connection between the player - protagonist - story
So what happens if i cjoose to reset atlas
Do i lose everything and restart?
Cause i wanna complete the story
But i kinda want to keep everything i have
you don't lose everything, you only ||have all of your exosuit, starship and multi-tool tech damaged, and are sent to a galaxy type of your choice.
You can still teleport back to Euclid and all of your progress, bases etc remains||
You are also free to refuse to reset the simulation and "lose" nothing, still completing the story in the process
So if i want to keep "everything" i just dont reset the galaxy
Like what would be the benefot of resetting the galaxy?
It lets you select a galaxy type to "reshape the galaxy into", which just sends you to the closest galaxy of that type
Euclid is a normal one with normal probabilities, which is also what the teal galaxy is too
The green one is a lush galaxy, with twice as many lush, tropical worlds in it's yellow star systems
The red one is a harsh galaxy, with more extreme storm worlds
And the blue one is an empty galaxy, just having more dead (moon-like) and weird worlds in it's yellow stars
So i choose the green galaxy ima go there with all my stuff broken
But i can still teleport to my bases after i fix everything?
You could teleport even with your stuff broken if you had access to a teleporter lol.
It's not a big deal, really. You can fix essential tech still on planet, then take-off to the system's space station and fix the rest there.
If you have more than one multi-tool, I'd just advise to pick the worst one to serve as a sacrificial multi-tool; so after the reset you retain mining / scanning / combat capabilities
I have like one other apart from the starting one
Pick one to get "broken" (you can always fix the tech later) and keep the most useful / advanced one as a secondary, so you can use it after all is done.
Hpw do i switch multi tools
There's a quick menu ("x" on PC, not sure on controllers) >

There you'll have an option to change multitools.
Oh, ok. You could quickly grab one in any space station if possible. Or... go with one. Essential tech usually uses easy-to-gather resources to get fixed, some of which you may very well already have.
Ok
Via the Atlas Path. The tooltip is misleading, I know.
Ok
I just completed a run for the permadeath achievement last night and totally forgot about this. To make matters worse ||I chose Calypso||. Luckily I always keep a stack of main resources, but I wasn't paying attention and that was almost the end! Got my heart rate up for sure š
Pffft, I core hopped to Calypso in Survival so I know how hellish it is
If you don't have an extra ship or suit tech to reinstall then you're basically cooked
My survival is retiring in Eissentam, but life is too easy sometimes
Next time I'll remember to store modules too ... Back at the freighter safe now, but it's gonna be spendy and I didn't spend any time setting up resource farms
i wonder how the lore between autophages and the korvax intertwines when the updates come and go
is there a way to get a specific good looking living ship?
yes, if you find a location for a design you like online
see #nms-questions message
and where can i find designs??
ok guys!! this is for a presentation on nms lore
Atlas
Machine used to simulate universes for research
Original model refined until considered obsolete, abandoned
System fails, attempts to understand by putting the creator's brain in the simulation
Race of the traveller is "anomaly"
Every anomaly is the last traveller in their universe
First Spawn Gek
Bloodthirsty, very impulsive/aggressive. Will kill their own if seen as weak
Korvax
Most intellectual species, worshipped Aerons (sentinels), inorganic
Vy'keen
Nomads, scattered throughout universe, originated in Outer Edge, violent, perpetual conflict
Aeron (Sentinels)
Spread throughout the universe quickly, fought and killed Vy'keen leader, "police" of the universe
not done
is this accurate
Sorta links into something that I'm writing. In your opinion, are YOU the player character, or are you puppetting the player character (even though the dialogue says I when the player character monologues)
Came across the old 4chan leak from back in 2021 and was pretty surprised rereading it
at the time, I remember people brushing it off because the update came out and 1/9 things was right, but revisiting it, it is shocking how most stuff ended up actually making it in since
- city/settlements - frontiers was the update that released a few months after this post, obviously that is the feature that the leak got right
- Space station owning/rebuilding - we didn't get this but we did get a total redesign of space stations with Orbital. Could just be that things changed over development or that the telephone game of the info leaking turned 'redesign' into 'rebuild'
- New enemy race - the Autophages literally 'emerged into our universe' and are built from Sentinel parts. They aren't enemies per se, but again that could be something that changed in development or was misunderstood.
- Base defenses - this is an idea we know HG has played with in the past. We obviously haven't gotten it, but they may have experimented more with the idea to go with the pirate raids from Outlaws.
- procgen improvements - This is a given because it seems like HG are ususally working on procgen in the background, obviously we did eventually get this and it was overall larger than Origins.
- Water physics - Pretty self explanatory.
- Proper waterfalls and rivers - We don't have these yet. Light No Fire appears to have rivers and in Worlds Part I we did get 'fake' waterfalls from the floating islands.
- Worlds from a past era - This is literally the lore for Worlds Part II, probably the most interesting inclusion on the list because it seems like HG were planning this for years
- Freighter improvements - Who knows if whatever this was in reference to got added. We do know the trade rocket was in development around this time and that the early version of it was for sending items to your freighter rather than selling them so it could have been that
Tbh all the leaks are so generic you can put anything in and eventually something will stick
Like I'd say "we're getting new food items and recipes" but didn't specify it was specifically about bone related dishes
And yes I realize all plans can change during development but compared to leaks from other games (like Overwatch with entire maps' layouts or whole characters with precise design and abilities leaked) this is just bland af
I don't think 'worlds from a past era' or a new sentinel related race are particularily generic predictions
This was also a year after the Origins leak, that one had a number of things that weren't in the update but it did have volcanos and sandworms, which are pretty specific things that were in fact in that update
a lot of predictions though, including most things on this list, are just things the community have been pretty vocal about wanting. Obviously Hello Games is going to try to add the things people want to see so if you predict those, you'll more than likely be right eventually.
So I'm doing the Starbirth mission. I have all the bits hatched and ready to go
I'm now at the point of he Hunter // The Reflection // The Hunter // The Spiral of Reality // The Star Over Water // The Ascending Orb // The Obscured Companion // The Hunter // The Lowly Insect // The Anomaly // The Sailor // The Ocean King // EUCLID EUCLID EUCLID
I've made sure I'm in the Euclid galaxy but it keeps saying I'm in the wrong galaxy
help?
Use a portal
Use portal . Imput glyphs from that message.
Ć tried that - then where do I go from there? Am deeply confused
Address is in the pins
I'm still hoping they'll eventually overhaul planetary outposts and also all way more variation for existing ship types.
I bet LNF has another Atlas system running it.
Lol
I would think just for visual consistency they would want to update all the planetary buildings to match the Archives and new space stations. Surprised they haven't done it already
so I'm on my first play through. i just got to the end of the Artemis path where it's giving me the final decision for what I'd like to do. what is it that happens? does it reset me over? do I no longer get to do the atlas path?
Any news for future updates?
there was stuff about ācorvettesā found in files a while ago, but how soon or if they will even come to the game is unknown. If you are curious you can search this channel with the word for all the details. Other than that though we have no idea what is gonna happen atm
If they never do anything else with the corvette stuff, I hope they at least polish up the work they've done and ship it because being able to stick decorations on our starships would be really cool
yeah. I'd also like to remove the default decals that get placed by the procgen. and remove the "weathered" textures that some of them have
Since the Stone character appearance set looks like Autophage, think they're hinting at a "stone age" for the Autophage?
- the Pillar of Titan voltaic staff, which are a matter of cultural significance to the Autophage.
maybe. or they're just reusing assets from Light No Fire
I've got a question, and idk whether this is a suitable question for the general nms chat or nme-spoilers (I'm erring on the side of caution though),
But I think it's established that NMS generally goes on sale before it gets an update
Is it known how long the time gap is between the sale going live and the update releasing?
Depends when you count the sale as being live since the sales don't start on the same day across all platforms, but comparing Steam sales against update releases, the last six named updates have released two days after the game went on sale on Steam. (though not every Steam sale has led to an update.) Updates always release on Wednesdays, since it's a Monday, and the game just went on sale that could point to this Wednesday. However, for the past five named updates, Sean tweeted the emoji before the sale went live, and we don't have an emoji yet.
holy shit I didn't expect this thorough of an answer, thank you!
The last time we got the emoji after the sale was Adrift, almost exactly one year ago. The sale went live Monday the 27th, the emoji was tweeted the next day and the update was live the day after that.
I've seen that updates can occasionally drop on Thursdays, too
Is there merit to the idea that we may still be on track
I think they'd gone off on Thursdays anyway
This might be another Mandela effect lol
I was going off trailer release dates, those come out a few hours after the updates start rolling out and they're all Wednesdays as far back as I checked
huh, alr
Updates are often delayed across platforms though and I'm pretty sure there's been at least one case of a platform needing to wait until Thursday
so you seem pretty versed in the deciphering of Sean Murray's BS
when do you think we'll get an update
Do you think it'll be this week or later on
Maybe this week, possibly next week.
No emoji is weird, but they did the same thing last year which I think might of had something to do with Summer Game's Fest which is of course happening again this year
Interesting
I'll be though that, if it doesn't come this week
It might not come until the week after next
I know people that are expecting (at their own peril imo) Light No Fire news at the summer games fest
And if they're right, I don't think HG would push an update AND an update to their new game on the same week
Yeah, there was a leak that supposedly listed a bunch of the presenters at SGF this year and it included HG
but if they are actually there I would expect it to be LNF rather than an NMS update reveal, they could do both like they did when they revealed LNF but it would be weird for the game to go on sale two weeks before the update drop
Emoji
Sale
Internal branch update
In that order.
Sales alone imo are no indicator of update coming. Steam, gog,psn etc. Can throw games on sales at will ( there is reqirement on steam i think that min gap between sales needs to be 30 days or something like that)
U can also add quicksilver shop also as indicator. When we unlock all stuff , HG needs to add new stuff and update the shop.
QS shop isn't really an indicator, HG makes a list of items in it in advance
Like the current race related banners were in game files since WP2
Or maybe even before that
plenty of instances where the NMS steam sales are less than a month apart, though 'official' steam sales may not count towards the limit or something
We cant see internal branches anymore afaik
honestly after seeing that this is a full HG sale rather than an NMS one makes me more doubtful that wer're getting an update during it
Or NMS update plus a stealth drop LNF release
gog sale ends in a day
GOG sales are pretty inconsequential going off pattern. HG don't even bother mentioning them on the website.
going off pattern, sean usually sends emojis sometime in the afternoon, at least around 2pm to 6pm CST. He hasn't yet, though there's plenty of time
I'm inclined to agree that we might not see an update for a few weeks yet
with that knowledge and the aforementioned emoji thing
no emoji yet, but the sale runs well past next week's wednesday, making the coming weekend a likely target for an emoji.
The bundle sale is weird though, It seems like it went on sale 2 days before Relics' release, during the '25 spring sale, 2 days before Worlds Part II, '24 winter sale, '24 autumn sale, and 2 days before The Cursed, recently. Don't really see a pattern since it skips out on some of the releases since The Cursed though. Maybe we'll see some sorta teaser on the 28th like they did for beyond? Or an LNF showcase in the SGF hype trailer?
I'm afraid to make a prediction because I don't want to get myself hyped about a LNF showcase or a new big NMS update. I imagine it's more likely we get a LNF appearance, but it's been so long since we've had news about it, it's hard to know when they're going to be ready to talk about it again
i love the speculation the community does once the emojis are out
but it's kind of a pain to guess when they'll actually be sent lmao
i dont mind it that much though personally since it just sets HG apart from other studios
They never say anything until they're like a week out from release, and I respect that. Never raising expectations too early.
I guess it comes from how the game was received on release.
oh ofc
i understand their stance completely
they're more than likely doing the same thing with LNF, too
Internet Historian said it best in his "The Goodening of No Man's Sky": "After the horrible launch of the game, Sean Murray and the team disappeared. Many thought they had taken the money and ran, but in reality they put their heads down and got to work."
HG only shows off content when they're positive it's up to their standards and it's already done enough to be pushed out ASAP
I personally think they're overdoing the silence game with LNF, but their methods for NMS for the most part works like clockwork
"how it was received" is putting it mildly, people would stalk their office, make death threats, they had to get law enforcement involved
I wasn't a player at launch, hell i was freshly into middle school at the time, so I didn't see it for myself
but I've certainly heard how much of a shitshow it was
unfortunately I think it's also why they tend to make the new content very easy for players to find, because they had people raging because they didn't see certain things and were claiming it wasn't in the game, when it was just rare
I say unfortunate because I tend to get burnt out on new creatures and flora because they're everywhere. like some of the new creatures in the Worlds updates, or the glowy mushrooms from a few updates back
yeah i think a side affect of that "hyper-accessibility" is partly why a lot of the features feel disconnected
like cooking, base building, fleet-building, the settlement system
they don't really have much overlap
I think part of that is due their internal structure, from what I remember, half of the things they build are more like things the dev team finds cool, and half are requests from the community. So I suspect there's not necessarily a big roadmap for features and how they mix with each other
that makes sense
and that information, if you're right, is really cool to know because that means if LNF is ever lacking anything at launch, and the community wants it badly enough, we'll probably get it eventually
assuming it's within scope
What is the difference between refusing the atlas and resetting the simulation
basically, the latter is a shortcut to another galaxy (but applies damage to installed tech+modules), but its possible to go to other galaxies later anyway if you reject
Will I lose any progress depending on what option I pick?
if you reset, the worst it will happen is that you'll have to fix damaged tech and modules
on your active ship and MT, and exosuit
Oh ok
@spring marten remember that we can protect tech/modules from damage
-#
to view info below, enable embeds
So essentially choosing to reset the simulation will just damage my gear and will teleport me to a new galaxy whereas refusing will just put me back to wher I was before?
refusing will let you return to current galaxy yep, not applying any damage, and not locking you out of visiting other galaxies later on
Wdym by not locking me out of visiting other galaxies?
there's other ways to go to other galaxies, this shortcut ("resetting simulation") isn't the only way
Yeah it's been like 2 years since we seen any video on X or any other place of the new game
By this point I'm surprised we haven't gotten at least some new promotional screenshots of it.
PS Sale Live Now
i don't know how NMS can still be a 3.9 on any storefront at this point
3.9/5 seems reasonable
With 101k reviews, a lot maybe still negative from long ago
for the amount of content and playability it offers, not in my eyes. but yeah I'm sure the review bombing from the early days keeps it down
3.9 is fair imo. For average player who is not into exploration focused game
Shadow drop today. The no emoji update.
Or emoji drop today and update drop next wed .
To be honest I'm with BomberBoi -- perhaps something in the weekend.
The timing's super weird compared to our usual "trend" (which again, has never been explicitly set in stone), so its very hard to know what to expect this time around haha.
I just got back into the game, so any and all new updates will just be icing on the cake that is this very close to perfect game
Worth pointing out that the 'trends' start getting much less consistent once you go back more than a year
could turn out that there's no emoji because instead of a proper update we're just getting an announcement of a Switch 2 version, since the console is out next week
Very true, and after Worlds Part II I don't think we really neeeed an update, I mean we're feasting while Starfield is starving, trying to ration Shattered Space (a 2 hour $30 DLC) for up to another year from now
i only need ship interiors or a special ship like that
and then for me the game is perfect
That itch is scratched for me with the Freighters, I'm not sure what I would really want to do in the ship aside from maybe having an on board refiner for crafting on planets without building a refiner every time
for the refiner part is the portable refiner no?
as for freighters its the thing i can t control em
so that i can fly with friends in the same ship , is the reason i want ships with interios
Valid, I guess just for the convenience of it plus hazard protection when the planets go nuts
And also valid, I don't have friends so I didn't think about that lol
its the thing that almost makes me wanna buy space citizen
but eh 50 bucks for a buggy mess is eh
My Legion Go couldn't run it, but I'm with you there. I do think that SC is a bit more involved without the benefit of the stability of NMS. And with the choices they've been making and the sheer cost of most of their ships (and it basically being pay to win at that point) it just doesn't feel like it would be a balance experience especially coming into it brand new
Me personally, all I want are ship interiors and more furniture otherwise I genuinely can't think of anything I want in the game
HG has added so much already that I'm surprised they themselves still have ideas for new stuff
They must have one hell of a laundry list tucked away somewhere
pretty much
The game has unlimited possibilities you just got to want to add them and think of the ideas and wonder if they can create them
Interesting. All HG games are on sale now in a HG bundle on steam until 9th of June. Conveniently ends right after SGF2025

Switch 2 release is 5.06.
Peak time to release NMS Switch 2 edition, tease a new update and then some LNF
one can hope
I keep expectations on switch2 port/upgrade+ new expedition lvl.
It wouldn't even really be a "port", as Switch 1 titles can play on the Switch 2. more of an upgrade thing. But I'm not sure if we will even see that day 1 unless HG got blessed with an early dev kit
Anyone hear anything new?
Hopefully Switch 2 will have all the nice things... settlements, multiplayer.
(I'm really out of the loop, not sure if we know the features on the new platform already lol)
Well given this is a spoiler channel
I wouldn't be surprised if we see corvettes this update
Maybe HG wraps the Switch 2 update in with the update containing corvettes and such
Switch 2 is allegedly around PS4 performance level, so it could conceivably have all the features, but it will still be lacking in environment detail compared to the PS5
I see. Heck, amazes me that we can have a PS4 in our hands now. š
When I remember the things my PS3 was running...
Hoping for multiplayer at least. Would be nice to meet Switch players in the Anomaly
I'm sure it will be a visual upgrade as well from the Switch 1
It's more like a PS5 Lite
thing looks gorgeous, well from the gameplay we've seen
comes out in a week btw
NMS already looks good on switch for awhile now comparable to Xbox and ps4
Let's give switch settlements atleast on switch two
What if the emoji is one of the emojis in the twitter user's name they retweeted recently (unlikely I know) š or ā
That's never ever been done before
Sean just likes to post random stuff when he feels like it because he is joyous and whimsical
Yeah, people were talking about other things that haven't been done before, and how patterns don't really hold up if you look over a long period of time. I've been watching these updates for years, it's exactly why I said it was unlikely.
I don't know if sean has every tweeted something as random as that barge post, but it was funny
The pattern of emojis has been the most consistent thing throughout the last like 4 years, there hasn't been any updates that deviate from it besides silly variations like making them into a cowboy
Yeah, usually it's an emoji post. I think some people have made connections where sometimes they hint at an update before they send out the emoji tweet though. But it's all speculation, I haven't ever done any real analysis since it's just for fun
Or a summoning circle in the case of the Worlds update
Worlds Pt 1 that is
Lots of cute variations but always a single emoji then a triple emoji, both retweeted
I just made at the end of the game witch galaxy yāall recommend to choose out of the four
Most people recommend the lush one, green, but the others are for if you desire different chances or troubles in the majority of stars
Thereās an end game in NMS?
Pretty sure the endgame is after finishing the 3 main quests and ||making the new galaxy|| there is quite a bit of endgame content like the autophage quest (highly recommend š lots of customization and cool multi tool)
I think it really depends on what you're looking for out of an "endgame" experience. In terms of evolving game systems, there's not much of that there. You're pretty much doing the same things at the 500th hour that you were at the 30th hour, just with upgraded gear. That's a big missing piece for me, but at least I enjoy exploring planets so I just do that.
should i rush to complete the artemis quest and get to use the glyph portals
like, its been on the backburner for a bit
You don't need to complete the Artemis quest to use the glyph portals, iirc
The Traveler graves give you glyph symbols
You do need to complete it to access They Who Returned and In Stellar Multitudes, so it's a good idea to do so
Fair call
Any new data mines other than the corvette???
Not much. There's functionality to allow some base building parts to attach to some ships, which allows for portable bases you can fly around. Its a feature that may or may not be related to corvettes, we have no idea what pieces will have the option enabled or what ship(s) they will be able to attach to.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMVY9Xd64tg BomberBoi did a test with them where he enabled the option on all the base parts and allowed them to attach to an interceptor. This probably not how the feature will be used when/if it actually releases, but it's cool to see regardless
Worlds Part II added a few properties related to "Ship Bases" and textures for a starship type called a corvette. Interestingly, a few of these properties not only allow for your starship to act as a portable base, but also allow for parts placed in said "Shipbase" to move and fly alongside your ship.
Here, I build a quick extension for my Sen...
Arches and walls on ship would be just silly. U know what base parts would look awesome? Decals.
I played around with the features a little bit too. Pretty buggy and hard to use, I couldn't get it to work on all ship types. It also seemed like there was one "base" that any ship with the feature enabled would try to load. Could have been a bug, could point toward the feature being meant for building on a single special ship.
I would guess it'll probably be the corvette, and the parts will be purpose made for it
rather than being existing parts
but thats all speculation ofc. They could be completely unrelated features
Yeah I think it's fair to assume the new ship features and the new ship are related. I wonder what else they might be planning to add so that we'd even need a ship like that though.
Bacon Emoji
they're quite literally cooking up something haha
and new bluesky profile!
saw the post on bluesky first and genuinely could not tell what emoji that is lol
retweeted by the LNF page on twitter too. If it ends up being an LNF announcement, thats a weird precedent to set š
if its NMS related, what're y'alls bets? No Man's Sky: Beacon?
Beacons is my thought too
Bacon
I still think its No Man's Sky and not Light No Fire, as next week is the Switch 2 release
so an update going along the Switch 2 release makes sense for previous hardware releases
bacon feels like a weird thing to be Light No Fire
Beacon
They won't use this emoji approach for LNF is my supposition
"Beacons" or "Beacon" sounds like a smaller update like Prisms, Fractal, Waypoint, Endurance
It's hardly likely to be on the same update cycle
Well a Beacon is a kind of waypoint, so i guess it fits thematically too
If they do, I really hope they clearly differentiate the two by posting on the LNF account, and keeping LNF hype separate from NMS hype, even if a large portion of the playerbase for the two overlaps
It's already generating LNF hype for being retweeted there
Bout to be disappointed fans
But maybe
It's an emoji for both
They've been cooking
yea thats exactly the kinda precedent I hope HG avoid setting
I am glad that Sean's posting on Bluesky at least. Just opening twitter nowadays feels like a self lobotomy at times. Hope they get the trifecta of accounts moved over soon.
Yes pls
BEACON
BEACON
LIGHT THE BEACONS. Gondor calls for aid.
Personally I'm thinking this is an expedition
nothing set server side yet, going off previous patterns that usually means either no expedition, or expedition 2 weeks after the update drops usually
but again, nothing's set in stone with HG, I'm just going off of what I've noticed for the last year or two
lnf acc getting activity again is highly suspect
Maybe it just means HG is cooking, and we'll get LNF at the gamefest and an NMS Update
Huh that's interesting then. Maybe it's the corvettes after all?
Beacon...
I shall never stop hoping that the discovery page will replace the totally useless planet jpg with a 3D model we can rotate around and look at waypoints we've set on it.
You know, there actually is an unused discovery screen page called 'planet map'. It references a 3d model render texture (like how the ship is displayed in the inventory) and no other UI elements.
been there a few years though
Woah.
