but the purple star story mentioned "timeline", which might means an alternate universe
16
19
Inverting 6 becomes 9
Given the void mother is returning through the purple stars, and they're reconstructions ancient systems, I'm thinking they might be from when there were 19 minutes left
U can say 19 is mirrored 16. We have mirrors and glass
Glass, Mirror, Alternate dimensions...
paradox
recent years i have been fed with paradox from other games too lol...
Ooooo that's how it works, so each food have buff benefit other than consuming ๐ So my guess cooked food means better buff and duration โจ๏ธ
Btw, I finally found all ruined structures schematics from collecting from a Memory Stone on a Ruined Planet โจ๏ธโจ๏ธโจ๏ธ Btw, noting once you have all or nearly all, you'll have higher chance to get Nanites for like 150 aprox ๐ This amount looks nice and for those who wants to farm easy Nanites ๐ You might find a possible chance in one spot for 2 or 3 stones ๐
Also, Ruined Planet was found on a Abandon or Undiscovered System, well there were no Space Station ๐ค
its likely more of a reference to the simulation's timeline of events, since Paroi Major (a prerelease system) is name dropped at a timestamp of 0,016.A
i see, love how they reference pre-release planets/systems
one of them that i immediately know is Soleth Prime, when you talk to Mercury in anomaly
Has anything interesting been datamined? Only things I've seen are corvettes and the fossil stuff
There's an unused Atlas Gate space encounter which looks like it'd have been used during the new quest. Still checking other changed files...
That's pretty cool, I wonder what it would have been used for
BTW, in terms of the new terrain system, is there any indication as to what it's doing? I've seen that several terrain types got datamined but I'm noticing that it seems to be blending several instead of just having one for the full planet
quest was kinda fucked up imagine someone just sideloading random shit into your brain
They just upped the exp time, can you see the new end date?
The new end time is <t:1739354400>
Excellent thank you
Still no update on the start date for the Titan expedition btw
Best guess will be after Cursed is finished. If they extended Cursed for a week, Titan will likely be delayed at least that long
i love hello games, they just keep surprising us
I don't know them personally but Sean Murray gives me the willies. It's rare to find a programmer that is both that skilled and passionate about a single project for so long.
The passion usually burns out for one project and seeks a new one...but this one is just burning brighter with new ideas
It's like someone gave Tesla the patents first.
Stardew vally and hello games are the craziest dev cycles I've seen
the forbuidden fruit
Well to be fair, though he did code the updates to the terrain engine in Pt. 2, I imagine Sean has been mostly doing management work the past few years, especially getting Light No Fire off the ground. I did a little research last year and the majority of the people in the original credits are no longer at HG. Sean getting to do some other things here and there probably saved him from burnout
Hmm... so I was messing around with a few new properties added to GcSpaceshipComponentData, and one of them,Buildable , when set to true, lets one build the base parts marked as BuildableInShip anywhere near the starship itself. Probably meant for the Corvettes, but its interesting since the SpaceShipComponent is only used for mobile starships, not freighters...
interesting find! I guess the Corvettes are a bit bigger than I imagined
The " fish fins" are little off from general design and dont blend well with the rest imo.
I'm not the biggest fan of it tbh
I'll collect it and put it into cold storage regardless
But it's not my favourite
It's kinda shaping up like something a lot of people have wanted for a while ngl
The name implies it's smaller than a frigate, which might indicate it's flyable or something
oh my god...
the base parts I build under this forced setting stay attached to my starship...
There's definitely collision issues, but whatever you build inside this "ship base" flies along side your actual ship
I wonder if they'll use freighter parts or their own stuff
I could see a mobile base being super useful for lots of stuff
currently all base parts have the BuildableInShip property set to true (includng legacy parts) which im pretty sure is just a placeholder. probably will inherit freighter base parts or their own unique set?
I can already see " pilotable frigates" builded by community xd
i kinda wonder if i can disable the ship model / collision for an existing class, throw on this ship base bit and already have flying bases haha
That makes sense. I'm guessing it'll work like freighters too in that they might have a proc gen exterior and a buildable area near the cockpit/ bridge
My unlikely hope is that we get the elevators that were in the files ๐๐
Corvettes sound awesome. Maybe itโs a multi crew ship with living space?
I can see the use case for multiplayer, but for SP I can't really say I've needed a mobile base. Feels like it would be cheating a bit
I guess it's just a freighter that sacrifices size for convenience
If it's let's say half the size of a frigate, it's going to be tough to find somewhere to land
In the files it apparently has a hangar
So I wouldn't be surprised if it can't actually land
hm yeah maybe it will hover in atmosphere
I like the idea of having a space motorhome with room for a couple ships and some decorations/ crafting stuff ngl
Though I do think I'd just not use my freighter again
I'm still super curious about how this new terrain is done ngl
did a quick recording of some tests here:
https://youtu.be/pMVY9Xd64tg
Worlds Part II added a few properties related to "Ship Bases" and textures for a starship type called a corvette. Interestingly, a few of these properties not only allow for your starship to act as a portable base, but also allow for parts placed in said "Shipbase" to move and fly alongside your ship.
Here, I build a quick extension for my Sen...
Definitely very borked haha
Excuse my awful building skills btw ๐
that's really cool
gonna build myself the Normandy from Mass Effect ๐ฅ
I wonder what would happen if someone were to stand on the base area ๐
The game surprisingly does generate collision for the separate parts whenever the ship's landed. No clue how far far it'd send someone flying if they were standing on it though haha
Only one way to find out
Got feeling they might have to implement passenger seats ๐๐๐
I flew into the anomaly with this thing to see if people could see / react to it, but I forgot console doesn't have chat enabled, and most people on the anomaly don't type stuff out publicly ๐
Imo easyer would be implement follow player ship than multicrew ships. Simliar to squadorm that follows u and the RDR horse follow mechanics.
Yeah. Sad. Txt chat would be really nice.
I could imagine this being a space RV of sorts, a portable base you can fly into a planet and then walk around in before dropping down.
If HG somehow figure out how to let us walk inside them while the ship moves that'd be insane, but I wouldn't get my hopes up
It would make sense, I feel like that sort of thing would be really at home in NMS, and way more convenient for refining and crafting than a freighter
It would probably also come off as as close as the game will have to a buyable player house considering the likely size
Like... the possibilities this may open are awesome. But the video is hilarious lmao
Its gonna be funnier if HG do flesh this feature out and everyone's reaction to the trailer is pure awe. Knowing how broken it was at this point might be a funny contrast
Kinda makes me wish HG'd post more in-dev clips of weird bugs along the dev process haha
Imagine Corvettes being used as a boarding party ship for enemy freighters. I hope you'll be able to hire NPC crew though, otherwise I'll be flying a big empty ship
๐ฏ . But I understand why they might not want to do it.
Release time memories may still haunt some of the team I guess lol.
Come to think of it, I wonder how big they'll actually be on the inside
It could be anything from a house upwards tbh
I think I'd honestly prefer it to be small and cozy but ig I could just build it like that
One thing on the dev process I'd like to understand is their rationale for building fully explorable interiors for frigates, when there's almost nothing to do in them
So I hope for Corvettes there's actually gameplay reasons for them to exist beyond "players wanted a mobile base"
What kind of rooms do you think corvettes will have? We already know of a hangar? Cockpit for sure, maybe crew quarters?
#NoMansSkySpoilers Worlds Part II added a few new properties to structs related to normal starships. One of these, when enabled, not only allows one to build near their starship like a base, but makes said base parts a PART of your starship.
Some tests:
https://t.co/GfW2gNFyg5
I'd be happy just to have the free usage refiners, storage crates, that kind of stuff
Whats the deepest a Waterworld can be? I havent found any deeper than 1300
My record is 1450
I have a research base at the sea floor of my water world, itโs 1300u or more deep

This decision will damage everything that's still installed in Exosuit, active Ship and Multi-tool tech inventories (exception: exosuit core techs e.g. Life Support).
-
Each of the 4 orbs represent 1 of 4 galaxy types in the game, and while this decision can't be repeated in the current save, it's easy enough to reach galaxies of other types later.
-
Orb and associated type:
- Teal/Norm (Euclid, the starter galaxy is Norm, the base weighting for biome spawns)
- Red/Harsh (More extreme survival planets)
- Blue/Empty (More dead and weird biome planets)
- Green/Lush (More lush biome planets)
-
If the player is still in Euclid at this point, then:
- Teal leads to Hilbert Dimension (2);
- Red leads to Calypso (3);
- Blue leads to Budullangr (7);
- Green leads to Eissentam (10).
-
Space Anomaly teleporter is often an easy way to reach other galaxy types later; it's not uncommon for there to be a Featured Base in Eissentam.

I just reseted the simulation. Now I get four different galaxies to choose from. It's between an inspiring galaxy and a rebuild galaxy. Which one would you recommend?
Hopefully we have that drink someday
Maybe I'll let him live one day
What is the legendary waterworld biome crab specific reqirement
? Daylight?shallows? Night?
I wish i could actually see the bodies of the crew members when i discover their logs
Feels empty
Reminds me of those elevators they once attempted, to end up making a teleport instead. You are prolly right about that being too much to ask for. ๐
so i just reached the end of i think the atlas quest and its asking for me to "present D 3 options, can anyone explain to me what they are? i dont want to mess this up
some planet a flora fauna option
I'd love elevators in NMS WTF
Does anyone when expedition which unlock this ship would be released?
Yes, the next one Titan
We don't know the start date
Would it be released after current expedition?
Im really curious as to what the ship will look like to make this work out if it ends up coming out lol
I saw a streamer had hacked their game to use the Wraith, it looked a bit silly to me with tentacles dangling behind it, but if you like the organic ship stuff you'll probably like it
What galaxy color has more chances of it being a floating island?
Do the relic buildable pieces conform to the biome you use them in? I found this grassy relic planet and it took on the palette and the biome flavor (plants hanging from it), as opposed to the more plain-looking relics I've seen before
first time seeing a gas giant in game and well....it's absolutely terrifying
i haven't felt a chill like that down my spine in a while to be honest, not too sure why it felt so imposing looking at
I donโt get this notion that you can only see purple systems after you finish everything, Iโve already stumbled upon 3 of them and I havenโt completed the things yet
OoโฆI canโt wait
I guess this counts as a spoiler, anyone got the ship from expedition 16 yet?
Hey so I just finished the main story. What do I have to do next
The red systems kinda look purple
Is it possible to create a planet for the new quest the game canโt generate? I think I may have screwed up Iโm on jump number 30 or something. I picked unmapped, water horror does that change anything?
The game doesn't create any new stars after that sequence. It just takes your selected options, creates a scan event to find a purple system with your selected options, and then shows you the way to a system that has them. Try a few more times after warping to a new region?
You mean like use a portal to jump to a whole nother region and try again? Will do, ty
This game has such a trippy vibe
Found this lol
A little bit of a coincidence to say the least ๐
Anyone unable to do anything here? I canโt get out of this
not even sure what I'm looking at there
Part of a trace of metal
Sadly no, they r just pure grey
With texture ofc
damn, that's a shame
Hello everyone in ruined planets how many ruined decoration relics can we find?
yep i had this exact problem too
the dialogue closes and the game basically freezes up
it should be fixeed since the latest update
So uncharted purple always will have robot fauna in them? Found 2nd system that has only them.
All of uncharted systems have robotic fauna now, hope its a glitch
Intresting. Shame that robo fauna has little variety.
Okay, I have a dillema here: atlas is dying, which choice is best:
-seek final interface
-complete atlas path
-explore the galaxy
Taking in mind I don't want to start all over again
Which one is best option?
is it the purge quest?
not sure if that matters tbh
btw, guys, how do I unlock autphage looks?
finished "they who returned"
Late, but nothing makes you start over again (besides dying in perma)
I'd finish both those top missions
i really hope this is just a peek into how they are adding new living ship parts and introducing making our own
We have more information on corvette type ships?
After nearly a week of purple systems it still feels like I'm scratching the surface ngl
The terrain system to me has fundamentally improved the variety and interest of planets
And it feels like we've reached a critical mass of biomes where you can go hours without seeing a repeat sometimes
Hi does resetting my universe mean I lose my base?
Nah back in the day it didn't let you go back but that's long gone
Your tech breaks that's it just store it in your inventory
Ok I did the reset so where do I find the hear of the sun
Atlas quest
Go to stations craft the balls
Where are we told that its a simulation and there are 16 mins left? I hear people talking about it, but don't recall ever being told that.
I have done all of the quests, now that after 4,500 hrs + I finally did the Atlas Quest to get to the new content (in 41 mins!). I assumed the Atlas Quest was where we were told that - but I was not told that. And I don't remember that being part of Artemis.
Where is that said?
The end of the main Artemis Path
Hm
I don't remember that part. And I did the Artemis path twice. The second half of it anyway.
Huh.
That was back in 2017, though.
So, it's been a while.
thats exactly what i saw yesterday
started over recently
also once you activate the last portal you see
I think the Remembrance logs might mention 16 as well, but I'd have to go look
Save edited the expedition paint reward.
I kinda wish the custom paint stuff would have an option to not lose its vibrant colors.
Why not just cook for a living? Some gourmet recipes sell for a FORTUNE. You mass produce caramel cake?
your bank account;
+60,000U
+60,000U
+60,000U
It also only needs 1 pulpy root, egg, hepta wheat, bone and some other stuff.
Sure, there is more efficient ways, but at least it is fun to bake a cake from scratch?
its a shark
Highest are around 200k per 1.
whats the best way to find a corrpuppted planet
"Dissonant" in system info
ive been to 24 so far and nothing ๐ฆ
57 systems no corrupted planets ๐ฆ
define corrupted
was searching for a planet with corrupted sentinels and never found it
look out for dissonant systems
I went to over 70 of them, I counted when I uploaded , not a single one had the sentinels, I even tried two different galaxies and 8 different black hole sectors, even went to the center and tried there as well In the end I ended up giving up and gave myself the echo locator via a save editor even tho I really didn't want to cheat like that. Just only have 3 hours a day to play games and I spent the three hours jumping and looking to no avail ๐ฆ

Interceptors may only be found and claimed in Dissonant systems. The system cannot be Uncharted, and the planet cannot be a Dead biome or Weird biome.

Locating:
Fighting Waves of Sentinels ยป
Other Methods:
Any Nexus Missions or Frigate Combat Expeditions have a chance to reward the Carrier AI Fragment used to find an Interceptor.
Random Space Encounter - when pulsing and then receiving the notification of an encounter, drop out of pulse and use your ship communicator to answer the call. You should be directed to a suitable planet with Interceptors.

Claiming:
Claiming an Interceptor ยป

Sentinel Pillars will shut down the Corrupted Sentinels and leave the Dissonance Resonators, if needed.
@ivory mirage hiya, well those 3 requires an input
All a, b and y needs an input. It basically ask you to choose the purple star planet you want to visit first.
As you move on to the story, ||you will be able to see all purple star systems||
Oh ok, thanks
I will go with y then
Wait there are more choices
โStormโ โHorrorโ and โHuntedโ
As i said, all requires an input
I will!
Question about the main story progression: I've just progressed to the part in the story where it says ||"Seek the Final Interface, Complete the Atlas Path, or Explore the Galaxy".|| Which one do I choose if I want to continue the questline?
Either or, but yoy want to finish the atlas path too
That question don't really mean nun
Does anyone know how many new ||Atlas words|| they added? Recently discovered that my save, where I only had ||32 words remaining to reveal, I think||, now is revealing ||words|| not listed in the wiki when I interact with ||a monolith||, while the ||32 words I had remaining to unlock are not being unlocked||.
Haven't seen anyone mention it, let me know if you find out
I can say that, unless these locked ||words|| are glitches, there are at least ||258||. Which isn't a big increase from the known, but I have at least ||5 words|| that aren't in the wiki, so it's probably more than that. Though... the wiki does say that there are ||at least 261|| but only seems to list ||220-222||. Unless there's a better wiki than the Fandom one? I know a bunch of places have been trying to veer away from Fandom.
So maybe they were added back in Worlds I, and I just didn't know (since I haven't played much recently).
Aha! I've reached a point where my ||previously locked 32 has become 31.|| So... Probably ||262 words total||.
What s teh reqriemetns for the invisible systems or somme thuff
i know itis the artems story, armphomagge
(reply with a ping os i see)
the atlantid speaking directly to you my jaw is on the FLOOR
Yup. ||Atlas Communications Fully Mapped||. With ||262 words||. I think I can finally start ||The Atlas Path|| now.
Do these ||new purple systems|| only show up if you do the ||new quest||?
I dont know if this is the right channel, but can anyone help me fashion my guy I unlocked the autophage, from claiming a expedition reward and want them to look nice. Im unable to post a photo for some reason
I can get a photo of mine soon
awesome ty! right now im just using stuff i unlocked from expeditions
its the head with the scanner visor and no clothes or anything
Yes they do
Unless you do modding, save editing or other tricks
Major(?) storyline spoiler.
||A worm coming to the realization that they are a simulation||
Is it really a simulation if you have friends and buds to talk to?
Yes, that changes nothing
Tbf being in a simulation doesn't change anything either
Unless it's dying
Worlds Part II added a few properties related to "Ship Bases" and textures for a starship type called a corvette. Interestingly, a few of these properties not only allow for your starship to act as a portable base, but also allow for parts placed in said "Shipbase" to move and fly alongside your ship.
Here, I build a quick extension for my Sen...
Awesome, thank you
If corvettes really do end up being small mobile bases as it looks here, that would make loads of sense coming from worlds part 2 ngl
There's so much variety now that a mobile home type setup would be a no brainer
Will be fun to see how this goes
I mean like imagine if our world is a simulation, would you stop living then?
If I was living before, I'd keep living, and if not, I never did. Discovering something changes nothing, I don't know what you're trying to say
Okay, you just realised that the entire universe is a simulation, would you still live the way you did before or just give up
I'd probably try and find a way to either get out of it, or manipulate it to my wishes.
Yup
The space nomad in me wants this so much, freighters are neat but I only park them (I don't want to fly them around systems, personally) so this would be soooo tasty
I get lore reasons but I wish not all purple systems were dissonance. I sometimes find a really good planet and it's ruined by the stupid crystals and purple effects.
I wonder if we will get the oposite of disonance systems. Harmonic systems.
ehh we already have freighter bases for that. I'm going to need to see more gameplay enhancements from corvettes for them to feel needed. right now it just feels akin to adding another exocraft when we've already got plenty
Fleets could use more fleshing out but freighter vases are fine where they are
I would love to see the freighters tweaked up, including better multiplayer interactions such as having multiple freighters visible in any given system that allow random people onto them to look around (optional).
What doesn't make sense to me is why purple systems have the crystals at all. The purple systems are supposed to be a rebirth of Void Mother. If memory serves the crystals were only being extracted by the Sentinels as part of a plan to bring her back. That's not really necessary when she IS back, at least in the purple systems.
Maybe she is not back. YET
well she spoke to us at the end of the story
She spoke to us earlier o think.
I think creating the purple systems was basically her manifesting back into the galaxy through memory
When the first purple star gets created, we're told that she's breached through
How different are purple systems depending on galaxy? Does Eissentam still have gas giants and ocean worlds in purple systems?
Yah i did the quest in calypso
Just adds em as regular stars
I had one shadow star robbed from me and turn into a purple star very not ok
I figured HG removes systems, but I thought that only applied to not uploaded systems.
well shadow stars are unoffical "bugs" so... i'm not surprised they would be up for reuse
Wait, what are shadow stars?
The wiki mentions a discrepancy between the portal network and hyperdrive access?
Stars we can't reach via normal mechanics
There are many
And what they used for purples
It's cool because they also incorporated this into the lore of purple stars
They've always been there but in inaccessible space
What happens if I choose yes
Choices don't actually matter till the final two choices dw
Ah ok thank you
What do I need to do to get the Autophage mission?
Finish main story and do a interceptor camp
The only main missions I have left, is The Space Anomaly mission and New Beginnings.
And Atlas missions
Artemis? Yes.
So, I need to start an expedition?
No, that is not neccesary.
Atlas space station craft all the orbs
10 or so
I have reseted the galaxy. Some with that part.
Did they change the requirements for autophage? When autophage came out, I could do with only finishing the Artemis questline. However, you will need to finish the Atlas missions to do the recently introduced "In Stellar Multitudes" questline. So you end up needing to do Atlas regardless.
I'm stuck with. The Space Anomaly mission: Explore The New Reality.
Oh, then you're good with space anomaly/Artemis.
It says I need to purchase Technology Blueprints or new Base Parts aboard the Anomaly.
But I did. What more do I need to do?
Nah, that is a popup unrelated to quests.
Then I don't understand why I don't have Autophage mission.
Do Atlas quest
I also finished A Trace of Metal which I heard is required to start the Autophage.
And a interceptor camp
@uncut harness I'm finish with the Atlas.
You need to locate a harmonic camp on a dissonant planet.
But isn't that the Autophage mission?
You can travel around the planet(harder) or use echo locators dropped from destroying dissonance resonators(easier, involves some combat). This is required to unlock "They Who Returned."
Well, I can go to a dissonant system and see if something happens. ๐
Thank you for the help. I try that. ๐
Note that you may need to warp to another system anywhere after you did everything with the harmonic camp.
Question about the Worlds Part 2 thing: When I'm doing the Memories of Atlantid and it's asking me to select my lifeform, primary and secondary celestial body, which one should I pick? ?
The one u like
"celestial body" refers to a planet, so...make your choices based on what you want them to be like
Diologue with Nada in abandoned mode, the character seems to recognise the anomaly and Nada and wonders if it was once a home or just another Void
How tf do I get the new star metal?
oh, they just reused Adrift's dialogue?
hmm, I haven't gotten to the anomaly on abandoned yet, wonder how you'd unlock purple star systems in that mode
And in a more lore sense, do the Autophage still exist if we can't detect them?
they reused a whole bunch more, seems like. signal booster needs surge batteries and there is no where to get the recipe from
The whole mode feels like copy pasted Adrift with phases and milestones stripped and Utipia exosuit/ship/multitool/exocraft terminals added
Ah... A quick ship feature instead of something they planned out in advance.
I'm sure they'll be updating it throughout the year with QOL to make it more compatible with the main game, but I wonder where they draw the boundary B/w essential feature, and a characteristic omission for Abandoned mode..
no way to detect them and no way to get blueprints for polyphonic core
and purple systems aren't visible nor is there any way to get purple drive
Yep, thats what really triggered my lore sense. I know the game won't generate Autophage in this gamemode bcz of how npc spawning works, but It would be cool if they later on reveal the Autophage to, in this universe, have gone voluntarily into hiding from whatever killed off the dominant races.
There's so much they could do with this alternate universe lore and feature wise, and I hope they considered that when making this a gamemode
No way to get a freighter either is there? I'm guessing Corvettes may help solve that issue if you can find them crashed (if they do make it to release), or if those might have similar spawns to freighters...
system freighters don't spawn and it felt so tedious, no way to get upgrade modules (maybe scavenged from crashed ships and found multitools, but none for exosuit except for random C classes from damaged machinery) or expand inventory and I didn't make it past the required playtime and warp jumps for a battle
I assume battles wont spawn tho
minor settlements still spawn multitool cabinets, but bc all space stations have abandoned station layout there is no NPC to buy charts from. Signal booster needs surge batteries so the only way to reliably mark structures would be to get exocraft
imo: mode would need revised technology and craftable products trees or buildable terminals that serve the same functions as their normal mode equivalents
I think the mode was just tossed in as a Easter egg because they already made it for adrift
Surface level reasoning was likely used, "eh may as well"
When you lost new features a new mode is a impressive thing to add to the list too
I don't think they expected the response people had to Adrift and tried to cater to everyone who liked it, but didn't think through how a short-form expedition would work as a full game mode
They tried abit. Starting with a terrain manipulator and hyperdrive was nice
that's just skipping tutorial
if you select "skip tutorial" when creating a custom save you start with a terrain manupulator and hyperdrive
Ah nvm then I only play survival and pd so wasn't aware
I finally found a dissonant world, and I just went around and collected a few sentinel ships and holy crap
The C Class ships scrap for quite a bit
And my first sentinel ship was an S class, I am supremely happy with that
Hi, I have a spoiler question...I started playing in 10/24, so about 3 1/2 months in now, 600 hours. I have basically maxed out and did all the expeditions from then til now 1 every 2 weeks, etc. I have max units, dreadnought and 30 frigates, maxed settlement etc. but I never finished the main quest...now I saw that I need to finish it quickly to do the purple system unlock quest, or I might miss the new Worlds 2 expedition coming up? How should I finish 16/16 to keep everything I have? I can only find old spoiler Reddit threads on it and they say I might lose everything but my current ship. Will I really lose freighter, settlement, dozens of bases, discoveries, etc?
Is there anything at all that will get messed up if I go to Eissentam, should I refuse to reset the Atlas?
you don't need to go to another galaxy to finish the Atlas Path, you can simply turn down the offer when you're given the choice
The titan expedition will not require you to have unlocked purple star systems on any other save btw, they added a special flag just to enable purple systems for expeditions going forth, and they usually use these in the immediately next expedition to follow
The conversation probably went "Hey wouldn't it make sense if adrift was like, its own universe population?" "Look, we don't have time we've added freaking gas giants mate I am honestly tired of progr-" "I'm adding it anyway"
You might not be too far off haha. I think they've mentioned that different team members work on different features depending on what they find interesting.
Maybe instead it was "Wait, you already released the update? Hold on I might have forgot to let you get surge battery-"
what is the deepest ocean you found since the update?
Pepole say around 1500
1405
My record is 1450.
Almost 1500u
I found a ruin there that was on the bedrock, chests were under indestructible terrain
Dayummm
I completed the quest for the purple systems and now curious what the difference is between the choices for the first purple system creation. Anyone figure it out? Also is the first system supposed to be empty of NPCs? I chose one option but did a change to make it a race instead of what I think was for an empty one but it had no NPCs. Wasn't sure if I hit a bug but also curious what difference the choices made.
Reading a bit back it just seems it's mostly just to set you in a system that matches and nothing more. Curious if it was supposed to be empty. There were creatures and sentinels, just no NPCs.
what does titan, flood, paradise do ?
U chose what planet u want game to "create" but in reality game finds one that matches your criteria.
is paradise just a normal paradise planet
It will be simliar with normal + maybe all the things that can be find from purple systems.
Atlas foundation ?? Is this a hint towards ARG ?
maybe Void Mother is Emily after all
is it just coincidence that the new expedition is called "Titan" ๐ค
Oh shoot, I just made that connection.
I'm not sure why they call the big planets "Titanic" outside of the game, but in-game they're called Giants
Probably to tie in with the staff
maybe, I would assume they named the staff after the planets, not vice versa though
btw has anyone found a "jungle" biome yet?
Not yet I've seen some on Reddit tho
Well finally getting to the end of my first playthrough of the story
and these choices are like lowkey fucked up
It's because it's the logo of Etarc
A lot of these banners represent community groups, and etarc from WT is still going with that as its logo

- Teal leads to Hilbert Dimension (2);
- Red leads to Calypso (3);
- Blue leads to Budullangr (7);
- Green leads to Eissentam (10).
-
Space Anomaly teleporter is often an easy way to reach other galaxy types later; it's not uncommon for there to be a Featured Base in Eissentam.

Okay if exp 17 is making waking titan CANON i gotta play it
the lore....i need the loooree
in general i hope hg actually definitively makes waking titan canon rather than that weird fanficcy arg side project
Beoooo imagine if they drop some WT lore in that expedition
Imagine if they bring waking titan back ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Honestly I doubt the next exped will be lore related
More like exploration of new giant / titanic planets
there's no lore text entries for exped 17
its just a tour of the new planet types HG put together to show off the new features for any new incoming players
and im pretty sure waking titan is in some capacity canon? S1's ending letter from Sean basically said that we'd "become part of No Man's Sky's origin story"
Unfortunately looking like that's not the case for the expedition, but I have been waiting for Hello Games to at least make a few more references to Waking Titan within any future updates.
The reason the Remembrance terminals hit hard for me is that throughout the lore we see the Atlas as a nearly omnipotent and unfeeling all-powerful entity that has begun to decay in a manner similar to Alzheimer's. Rememberance flips that. We see it interacting with its creator in a somewhat child like manner. We see it being abandoned and asking for a token to remember its creator by. We see it having enough sentience and self-awareness to realize it is dying and becoming scared, creating repeated iterations of its now-corrupted memory of its creator in order to comfort itself. In the final entry we see the "future" where the creator possibly returns, but we are left unsure if it is a true prediction based on available data by an AI capable of extrapolating universes, a gross miscalculation based off of decaying logic, or the hopeful imaginings of a someone scared of dying alone.
It feels real and organic. I can empathyze with it.
And Rememberance makes earlier interactions different too.
Like "Why does the Atlas need my permission to reset?"
Once you realize you are its creator, the subtext of the question becomes "Is it Ok to die? Is there something after?"
YESSSS, thank you so much for putting that into words, because that is effectively the same reasons as to why I empathise so deeply with ATLAS, especially after you've played the main storylines, read other peices of lore, and come across the rogue data terminals in the most random of locations. It feels quiet, and real for those moments you read through the remembrance, and it hurts. You can understand and feel the deep sense of genuine confusion, fear, uncertainty and loneliness ATLAS has been dealing with for an incomprehensibly extended peroid of time, courtesy of the logs. It provides something tangible and moving in the way ATLAS's interactions with their creator are described, but ultimately, having been operational for as long as they have, inevitable system failures sprouting within itself and its simulation only worsen. I think the part that really sticks out to me the most is the last log about that possible future, and you're right, I believe it's left ambiguous as to whether or not this is a logical prediction based on what knowledge the ATLAS can collate into something that makes sense as its system begins to fail, or if the machine with a soul is merely reaching its metaphorical cabled hands into the abyss on a notion of fading hope that one day, they'll be with their creator once more, and in these final moments, they'll no longer be alone. It seriously hurts, but profuesly, beautifully so.
Exactly. And we as the player Anomaly are the last core entity it has that connects it with its creator, so in having us be the one that ultimately decides for the ATLAS goes to show just how important and tragic of an impact this longing for reconnection has had on ATLAS' supercomputer equivalent of a psyche, which in of itself, constitutes a primary aspect of who and what it is by nature.
The other thing that makes it beautiful is how simple and understated it is. They don't beat the player over the head with it or force it down your throat. I've had friends that played and read them, but never thought deep enough about it to really click.
Oh absolutely, that's why I simply adore No Man's Sky. There's something exquisite in the simultaneous simplicity within complexity of ATLAS' story and character arc throughout the game's lore as a whole. Something I've always found is that I connect a lot with characters like that, especially if I have to dig deep, contemplate and truly soak in every beautifully nuanced essence that ultimately tells a story that one has to really sit with and feel in its entirety to appreciate its emotional depth. The sad thing is, I feel like just as a general statement, empathy overall is in of itself becoming few and far between, so stories like this are sometimes lost in their wholeness to people who only veiw them at surface level. At least, that's what I've found from friends of mine who have played though the story, read the lore, and never really felt the same about it as I thought they may have.
If you do not mind, may I send you something?
Sure
I don't know if empathy is diminishing, I think its more people don't engage as deeply, they float the surface of stories and lore rather than pausing to think and consider them and read between the lines.
Not so much that it is diminishing per se, but you are correct in stating that it's because people aren't actively engaging with their emotions, especially in the context of media such as this.
Environmental and contextual factors obviously play a huge part in that.
Mmhmm. It's also why I like Malazan Book of The Fallen. Lots of real deep thinking messages among the story.
When I destroyed Dissonance Resonator. I got one Echo Locator, but then I don't see it in my inventory.
Did you check starship and freighter?
It's not there either. But I saw Echo Locator popped up on the screen when I destroyed the Reconator.
I found the Echo Locator. I had to expand the cargo in my inventory. I have 2. ๐
question. are there also new bioms on remaining systems?

A: Despite what its objective says, no. The Purge simply requires the player to warp 16 times in any direction, to any system. Please wait for the mission to acknowledge progress on HUD before warping out again. Each warp teaches 1 portal glyph, if the player hasn't learned any yet.
โ Warning: After the 16th warp, it is recommended to take a moment to store installed tech/modules on exosuit, active ship and multit-tool tech inventories (or swap to secondary ship and multi-tool you don't care about, only do it for exosuit).
Note: If the player hasn't completed The Atlas Path yet in this save, it is suggested to do so now, since The Purge will keep registering progress even if it's not the selected mission.

forest and desert biomes did get new assets and stuff afaik
there's now jungles
with thicc forests and stuff
sweet, hopefully there is more to come tho. like vulcano bioms or unnormal ones
@frozen imp Okay, so I assume you got the idea that the wiki says the best choice is to walk away, from the page for Mark of the Denier? Because the wiki page for The Atlas Path doesn't actually give a recommendation at all
If you did get it from the aforementioned page, then it's saying that if you want Mark of the Denier, you have to remain firm in your decision to walk away - if you reconsider when given the option, you won't get it
What does the Mark of the Denier do, and what does the Star Seed do?
I guess being end-game stuff this is more suited to this channel, so... I just visited my first water world. It was around 1500us deep.
Not a single piece of land in sight. I didn't know I needed this lol. Liked so much I'll probably work on a base there.
Heck, that planet got me using the nautilon. I never use that thing
There already are planets covered with volcanos but maybe you mean something different.
The volcanos could use some work I guess
With all due respect to HG, after all these updates they still look like something from Oblivion lol.
without flowing liquid simulation and the ability to create volcanos with the terrain system itself, they're always going to look fake sadly
This is the spoilers channel, you don't need to mark things as spoilers here
I don't remember the spaceship Autophage that we meet in Pt 2 questline existing prior to the this update, so I'm not sure what you mean
Unless you're referring to some different metal ball
isn't that one of those space encounters
oh, that's from the Singularity expedition
I mean... yes. But the actual model is bad. ๐
Some more detailing, better shape, new materials, clever use of normal maps and such... don't know. I think it coud look better lol.
It's an asset right now I think; it could be improved theoretically
Okay yeah this was added in Orbital as a random encounter. But nothing I see in the dialogue points to it saying the ship itself is Void Mother. It's more like this is another Autophage ship https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Fragment_of_a_New_Atlantid
i mean that they need more different assets. also eventually rivers (in general) and lava rivers for vulcano planets
Soo can someone explain me "sentinel" lore ?
Ancient police drones, basically. They provide security for "legitimate" space stations and surface installations, and enforce planet-wide restrictions on "unauthorized" mining and hunting (it is not clear how one acquires the right to build a planetary harvester, but if you get it then the Sentinels will actually run security for the place). Some planets are restricted on a level where the Sentinels will attack you on sight, and while the Sentinels do have space forces, those are mostly to deter attacks on space stations. They mostly get around by using an ancient alien portal network.
The Korvax revere the sentinels as "angels" of the Atlas, whom they worship as a god. The Vy'keen fought a war against the Sentinels in ancient times (and nearly won before the Gek attacked them). Now all three races more or less submit to the Sentinels and their seemingly arbitrary laws. Obvious exceptions include the Voice of Freedom and other outlaws.
Corrupted/malfunctioning Sentinels can be found on "dissonant" worlds, where Atlantideum crystals grow up out of the ground.
Eventually, you will learn that ||the Sentinels were originally agents of an archiving function within the Atlas itself. As the Atlas began to break down, it allowed Korvax Prime (itself a superintelligence) to be destroyed by the Gek, who stripped her (the Atlantid, the Void Mother) for resources. The Sentinels went rogue after that, and it's why they're triggered by planetary resource extraction. The "World of Glass" from which they come is where all the data of everything that has ever existed is saved in a solid state that should be able to survive the death of the Atlas and be recovered later if/when anyone returns to Earth to retrieve the Atlas or repair its hardware.||
So question about the story ||I just reset the story and am now presented with 4 orbs, a raging galaxy, a tranquil galaxy, a exhausted galaxy, and a rebuilt galaxy, what are the pros and cons of each one??||
I think tranquil is a lush one. It correlates to what galaxy you get sent to. For example green (eissantam) is a higher chance for paradise planets
paradise planets are the really pretty ones, right?
The raging galaxy (red I think) is, I believe, more aggressive sentinel planets
Yes, paradise planets are essentially the ideal planets
Yes, you get sent to a new galaxy and what it's like is dependent on which color galaxy you chose.
When you go into your galaxy map like you would if you wanted to warp to a new system, in the upper left corner, it'll tell you the name of the galaxy you're in
yo, after seeing several catch up videos for the last content patches I wonder one thing
does anyone or anything in the multiverses in NMS know the things we as players know? atlas simulating worlds, atlas about to get destroyed?
as much as I understand, there are some entities that know KINDA sooome things but does any1 know the real deal?
Polo and Nada
It's simulating the universe we are in, yes
That's what we are told at any rate
225 galaxies???
I've heard some Gek NPC are actually Korvak. Is this true?
Okay after playing some more I think I have an idea of what the terrain system is doing and why it's so much more varied
It seems that each planet gets a pick of at least two terrain styles as opposed to the usual one
And they're also blended procedurally, it looks like
I've found the same "rugged plains" terrain a couple of times, but combined with different mountain types, for example
And those mountains also occur in varying density
All the way from barely any, to mountains covering most of the surface
So instead of the maybe 10 ish terrain types in normal systems, it seems closer to maybe pick 1 x pick 2 x blending mask
Though this is just from patterns I've been picking up so yeah
It also seems like the geometric terrain shapes like cubes and spheres go on top of that independently too
I just wish random pillars would stop spawning
It's like some part of the code stuck in 2016
When they used it for minerals
Interesting
Every bloody time I find a neat looking paradise, there are always these stupid looking pillars ruining the whole look of it :/
They remenets of 2016 mineral towers i swear lol
Dafu is that banner, noticed it was changed while launching a nexus mission
They've always been seperate to those, they're just an extra thing that appears
Logo of Etarc forums, one of player communities
The shapes etc are different and have changed over the years
Hmmmm
Next even made them bigger iirc
That's the logo of the corporation that featured in the NMS ARG Waking Titan.
(It then became the logo of the ETARC player community, which is probably why it showed up in the game. maybe)
oh okay, but why is it active even if i don't own it
did they add some banners and i still have the banner NยฐX but it's not the same anymore
Yep, its a small community, but highly active and tight knit. Always love dropping in there, awesome folks and fun conversations
huh, discovery servers are still offline? How long's the outage been going on for?
oh yikes, around 22 hours of outages...
Just the Auth server thats down rn too, wonder whats going on...
Yeah. Something bigger is going on than just "maintnance"
PSN has been down for about a day, perhaps there's a cloud-level outage at one of the providers
I hope its not another hackers attack ๐ฉ
HG use azure for NMS' servers. I'm pretty sure the rest of their services are running well
NMS has a surprisingly low amount of "maintenance" time for their servers imo. Most of the outages we've seen since we began tracking the servers have lasted at most an hour if not a few minutes. So a 22 hour outage is kinda weird
Cross save implementation
PSN uses Azure too, fwiw
Oh yea, its possible they're getting ready for a larger influx of players. Would make sense why only the auth servers are down in that case.
The rest of their servers (incl dev and qa ones) are up too though, kinda looks like they just disabled public auth for the time being?
yeah, it could be coincidental and HG's downtime is internal or intentional
Gunna suck when the discovery page finally loads and it's like 20 pages if you've been using portals ๐
Cloud Save has been a bit hit or miss for me so far, sometimes I have to manually push the save instead of it being automatic
Could it be Light No Fire prep?
i highly doubt lnf is gonna use the same server endpoints as nms, especially since they have a seperate domain for LNF. Azure sets up all of their routes seperately too, so there shouldn't be any overlap b/w the two games.
what's weird is the server sometimes doesnt even recognize that im a part of the beta. A lot of my external requests to check for exped dates just dont have any cloud save info, and that sometimes translates over in game, and I "get kicked" from the beta since the server doesnt return any info about my cloud save status...
I can't start my expedition, why would they not warn :/
Get ready for delay number 2
hm yeah, perhaps that's why my cloud syncs sometimes don't work
I wouldnt be surprised if they push titan back again actually, they've got a bunch of latent patches and fixes for the titan exped's rewards and milestones in the current steam experimentals which they havent mentioned in the notes. So the exped probably wont work properly w/o the next patch even if it does start before that.
I half expect it as switch still broken
If we get a patch Monday 1 day left not counting weekend
Immediate update but no patches is crazy work
Normally it's no update to be seen but immediate patches
The new living ship and staff look awesome tho
The Atlas staff from omega kinda ugly
I never really liked the Atlas Sceptre either
When is the new expedition releasing
We dont know
I smell a delay
Hell yeah
I can't even start exp 16 >.<
This truly a wild exp ngl lol
Worlds part 2 dropped in the middle of it
Breaks it
Switch never got the fix
Ods breaks on the final weekend
I've been waiting for the weekend quicksilver mission to be available to start getting a living ship on this save
I'm wonder if one day we'll get to be able to customize ships like in car games. Different color palates, patterns, or vinyls to apply to the ship. Would be cool to have that in the base game
What for?
well, the new expedition will have a reward that's a custom pattern you can apply to your ship. I do wish there was a more general customization option to be able to place decals wherever you want (or remove the ones that are there by default)
@white edge
hi
Alr. Which one is better IYO?
what are the options?
Birth a new star or return to the galaxy
One sec
whichever you prefer, but I'd personally do brith a new star
There's the gameplay differences
Alr. Are you in game RN?
Just super curious if you can package the Star Seed
i am not
@scarlet sorrel why pick birth over deny?
its way fucking cooler?!
and there's no difference either way
or maybe there is
id idnt do the main quest line ๐คฃ

How can I reach the restored Eyagah system? It's the "In Stellar Multitudes" mission.
what are good foods to use in the nutrient ingestor? I just realized they give different stats compared to normally eating them
are titan ocean planets possible? or is it more one or the other
also, are titan planets just marked as "gas giant" in the galaxy map, or does it say something else?
I've discovered that systems with non-gas giants are just called "dissonant" but show a giant when you click on em
ye they are possible
though idk if theyre actually deeper than a normal size ocean planet
None was found so far and spawn tables say its not possible. Pls post when u find one.
if* I find one
Lol, two Autophages sent me to do the fix the same autophage
Ez void motes.
nvm thought i had found one but it happened to just be a giant with water that was very deep
Solidified grease pie give 300% boost to jetpack. Weeeeeeee
There maybe a better jetpack boost food but I found this one myself
I went to the galaxy core and everything broke obviously, I summed my spare ship but the broken one won't show up using the scanners. How should I find it?
If it's not right there, you should still be able to summon it on the Anomaly or a station or your freighter
Managed to summon at the anomaly like you said, thank you. Started to get worried lol
Yep, the auth servers have been down for more than 36 hours now. Since the game cant authenticate, it cant access any of the other servers (discoveries, expeditions, community mission etc), so those appear down too despite still working.
hec
im half expecting them to delay the cursed a bit longer since people can't download the expedition during this time
I just said this in the general NMS chat, but I wonder if we'll get another 3 expedition year if they continue to have problems.
Or again exp 16 rerun in dec.
Emergence remix plz
They ended on expedition 16 for 2024, so ending on expedition 19, another important number, might be on the cards anyway
I do hope they build on all the lore from The Cursed soon. I took all the "we are closer than you think" dialogue to be kinda literal when first playing, but knowing HGs track record of following up storylines they've set out that might be asking for too much haha...
At least you can fight the Boundary Guardian in the game proper now. And kill its mooks for scattered qualia.
I created a system yesterday!
That was cool honestly
So Yabli-ฮฑ was basically that big sphere thing
I hope we see them again.
Though now we have storyline representatives from Korvax (Nada), Gek (Polo) and Autophage (Yabli-a).... but not a Vy'keen.
I do think HG intend to bring em back since they're a named character which are rare. Im guessing they'll play a part in the final part of the VM arc
Has anybody checked what the biome probabilities are for purple stars yet? Nothing updated for that in the wiki.
Damn. After doing the new quest the name "void mother" makes so much more sense now.

Itโs super cool that the void mother actually speaks to you in the story
Even if itโs once. Itโs like a holy shit moment
i had goosebumps in that scene
"what have i done" moment
imagine if now the Atlas is angry to us
If we living in a simulation let me start killing NPCs
Once I have Atlantid Drive, I don't need the others yeah?
No I'm p. sure you still need Indium.
ok, watching the stars reappear in multitudes was really cool.
It was a very cool mission overall
Since none of the characters are human would that even affect the rating?
Cool but short as heck
"tie in the strands of lore" like what I take longer to tie my shoelaces ffs
Direct killing humanoid looking avatar probably would affect it
I do think it's interesting that Yabli-a (they should have workshopped that name a bit more) seems to be aware that the other entities in the game are NPCs, since it calls Hyperion a "prebuilt" engineer, aka prebuilt by Atlas
"Non realistic looking violence towards fantasy characters" would still keep it in the rating
the guidelines don't mention the number of legs something is required
we can already kill other humanoid characters in multiplayer
im pretty sure thats just autophage lingo for anyone who isnt one of them...
theres something about that in the xbox cert on the ESRB site, still got its current rating though
No, it doesn't reset your file
imagine a world of glass update
I kinda want to stroll through this game's described version of hell underneath the multiverse idk
I wonder what the world of glass really looks like
definitely purple
I personally assume it's a mixture of the pillar exotics and dissonant
and also riddled in VERY sharp surfaces (like obsidian's? obsidian is a glass, so...). the lore makes that clear enough
it sounds like a pretty boring place to explore tbh
Funny that the Fragment of a New Atlantid encounter they added back in Orbital basically told us what they planned to do with this questline
Life is never extinguished. The data remains. The will remains.
What's Blobserve Server
Nevermind, I know what it means and I am substituting my own meaning. It is now the server that distributes blobs across NMS

Hmm... I could understand that in reference to Korvax as being "prebuilt" in contrast to the Autophage, but Hyperion is not that. So it seems to be using that term in a larger way, at least to me.
I mean it also is very clear that it knows what the Atlas interfaces are, which is beyond anything an NPC has had knowledge of that I can remember. Maybe Nada/Polo, but not even sure they explicitly talked about the interfaces in that way
One of the few things from launch I hope they still add is landing on asteroids
After worlds part 2 made them more tough and you bounce off of some I was reminded of it lol
Yeah, I had an asteroid shove me over flying into the Anomaly today and I missed the entrance and hit the side lol
I think The construct and singularity exp explained what prebuilt means . But i forgot what ...
they just exist instead of building their own bodies from nothing?
Hello everyone! i'm jumping back in after a long time. Anywhere i can read about the entire no mans sky story so far? Im more interested in the storys we can't experiance anymore, the expeditions. Trying to put it all together. Spoilers are fine, i beat the artemis and atlas storylines.
can side ping me if its easier. Also thank you for your time
Do we have any lore about living frigates? Like what they are n' stuff
We got some about it in leviathan expedition
I liked the idea of dissonant space or not possible space
Pretty cool
And the fact that you have to anchor it to reality
Ohhhhh
Prebuilt just means that they didn't assemble themselves
So being naturally born in this case would come under prebuilt
Since you haven't had to assemble your own body
Hm I think that's a bit of a stretch.
This questline really illuminated to me that the Autophage, or at least some like this one we met, seem to understand the truth that they are living in a simulation which Atlas controls. They know that their Autophage kin and whole star systems can be brought back simply by loading archived data into Atlas. And being synthetic beings, it's probably not a big deal to them, as they exist as data and computations either way. In fact, perhaps Void Mother has always been aware of this fact and shared it with the Autophage during its time as the Korvax Prime AI.
Their entire culture is based around them being self made
They pride themselves on constructing themselves out of components they themselves find. It's so ingrained that they don't even repair each other if they're damaged, they simply provide the materials for the damaged party so that they can repair themselves since it's sacred
It's why the staff is seen as a rite of passage for us as a being which isn't self made. It represents their way of life and us building our own staff is a display of our willingness to understand and connect with them
It's also why they're constructed out of random scrap that's been lying about, and it's why they're called autophage
They're 100% devoted to the void mother ofc but they have a lot of their own culture to learn about outside of that
Yabli is a great example of an autophage that's made their body in a unique way
I understand their culture, but what I meant is that I'm doubtful they would see "prebuilt" as applying to organic beings. In any case, I think given the nature of the questline and their knowledge of Atlas's true nature, that "prebuilt" takes on a different and more fundamental meaning. Especially in context of Yabli saying "no, a prebuilt engineer wouldn't have that knowledge" -- because it is the Autophage / VM who have broken past the limited understanding that the simulation's other NPCs are bound by
i actually think the world of glass is pure light according to the sentinel logs i think
not just sharp but also thirsty. the glass literally cuts you painlessly and sucks out ur bodily fluids like a juice box
sucks how much of this wild lore is just locked into the textboxes of an otherwise resource management and exploration interface but hello isn't big enough to do anything resembling cinematics so whatever
cinematics are up to our imaginations ig
so real. nms animated fanseries when
omg thatd be so cool
would love to see artist concepts of the wog even though I'm not much of a drawer
my feeling on the World of Glass is it's more psychological, there's no actual physical place, so it's just what their minds make up. it's probably some holographic memory data archive that doesn't exist in the simulation itself
Does anyone have information of minimum and maximum size of titan planets and gas giants?
WP2 added a few structs and references to Cutscenes, although they don't seem used rn.
oh interesting
Sean said in trailer gas giants can be 10x bigger than normal planet. But didint specify if its bigger in radius , volume or surface.
Biggest normal planet was 142k radius
I think gas giant is 10x bigger than largest normal planet, if so, the end point of the radius is likely to be the top most part of a gas giant
Cuz the biggest gas giant i found so far is over 650ku, which doesnt seem 10x the size of largest nornal planet.
Oh wait yea, there's a function in the exe which sets planet region size based on the size enum, I'll check that later to see by what factor gas giants are bigger...
It doesn't directly correlate to radius or volume, but more about how big a "chunk" is per planet.
So in this case, for gas giants, the true radius includes the outermost part of the atmosphere?
The function I'm talking about only deals with terrain chunks I believe
Ohh
The gas giant atmosphere is a model loaded on top on the planet I believe, but the terrain size for both them and normal giants is the same
Alright, thanks
I liked that all elements where lore explained , like same dangerous plants on every planet.
But now we got random jar heads and cthulhu head just because
Feesh
they did tease that the cthulu head's a glimpse of what "lies beyond the boundary", which has me curious if there's gonna be a new race in the world of glass
Yeah . A there is lot of new race speculations. Idk how HG will solve world of glass "visiting" if it will ever be available.
I do hope another extension happens, Switch still hasn't got the initial update fixing the breach 3 glitch
Thankfully, I played the original run. But really sucks for others
I was hoping purple systems would have the boundary breach mechanic, but I guess that's something different.
It's just odd to set up a whole system like that for just an expedition...
We dont know yet what exp will bring except it will have purple systems
Yea, purple systems are suprisingly tamer on the whole void / lore part. I think they might've wanted to tie the VM lore into the thread initially, but ran outta time and just wanted to push out the new generation before hand
Weirdly, all of the item textures for In Stellar Multitudes have the prefix 2024 in the texture names, which makes me wonder just how much WP2 was delayed
Its mostly just a tour of the new planet types with some small gathering missions thrown in, going by the seasonal mission table it seems?
No new lore sadly...
They kinda just straight up lied about "tying up strands of lore that we've been building up". The Cursed did a better job at that than In Stellar Multitudes imo. It just seems like marketing jargon for the announcement tweet?
Yeah I said it before and I say it again
The quest was nice but wayy to short
To "tie in the strands of lore" like what
It takes me longer to tie shoelaces ffs
And before somebody chimes in: yes, I know making quests isn't easy, have done couple myself and even those I consider longer
It feels like something rushed out to explain why there's purple systems now, instead of being a planned out part of the ongoing arc imo
The only lore tie in I see in purple systems is that they tend to spawn purple tinted storms in space when idling
Wp2 really feels underbaked
On lore side, yes, gameplay is more than enough
It feels like they're still holding some things back for whatever reason.
You wanna more lore? Consider this theory I had: we got Atlas Eternal some time ago
I dont expect a worlds part III, but they're building up to something w/ everything the cursed did
Just not sure when we might see it
In which a new star is being created each time we interact with Atlas again
How about we use that lore as a premise for new systems? VM having access to all that new info, to all these seeds for possible systems
And in ISM we just provide the catalyst for the chain reaction
I honestly thought thats what they were planning to do for the purple system reveal. Hell, they even have gameanalytics tracking for every time a person "creates a new star" via Atlas Eternal
And introducing Yabli-a seems like there's more planned.
Yeah not so sure about that
For an apparent planned recurring character, they gave em one of the most procedural sounding names in the game's narrative tbh..
I was surprised when I did the quest on a secondary save and the name was still Yabli-Alpha, since I thought they were just using any ol proc autophage name
It's on the short side but the lore isn't bad at all
Not all that much happened but what did happen was pretty significant and is definitely gonna be important going forwards
I also don't think yabli is coming back tbh
Bomber, is there any indication that the food market esteem with Cronus does anything?
Just really confusing
Hmm, I hadn't checked that out yet, good call. I'll take a look when I'm back at my setup. Might be stored in your save file for later expansions?
They do the same thing with the In Stellar Multitudes quest rn, the progression for it's saved to sync up for when they eventually add it to the catalogue's stories section, but it hasn't actually been added in yet.
I was wondering about that. I noticed it's lot logged in Stories
I made a quick fix mod for it, which works retroactively since HG had the foresight to at least track your completion for it.
How many counts is it?
counts?
Sorry, entries. How many entries does it count for?
All of them
The only bit that isn't properly working is one where it's supposed to show your selected purple star memories. I might have to check if they changed the stat names for those
Could there be something planned for ships that can go underwater?
There was a small vid segment with the new ship but it could have been just to showcase ocean waves
We dont know.
We suspect that new ship will have the perk from the vid. We dont have any other info.
Hey guys, im quickly finishing NMS again, and i've come to the part where you have to choose for artemida's end, so
Life or bath for artemida?
Bath
Alright, the choice is made
Thank you all for participating
Bath
I'm pretty sure its tracked via this stat since it was added in WP2 and changes after market donations
There's no assigned use for it in the MBINs anywhere, and surprisingly nothing rewarding this esteem in the game files either. It all seems to be handled in the game's exe itself.
So maybe something that will be added later?
I'm gonna grind it to 100 and see what happens.
Its possible, since its all stored in the save files they could pretty seamlessly use it for something later down the line.
@grizzled apex Have any idea what the hecc happened to the favorite button with other players bases? The experimental (since public) that stopped featured bases from being favorited seemed to univerally apply to every player base
and if it could be fixed with a quick mod?
ill take a look at the UI file responsible, but im fairly confident that its an exe level change since the page layout's changing based on some condition in the code.
It might be possible to fix with an nmspy mod if thats the case, but I need to fix up my existing install too, after which I could try to tackle the exe ๐
There's only so far you go with function and struct mappings from 4.13 fractals unfortunately
eh I don't really agree with that, Stellar Multitudes advanced and tied together the Autophage and the Void Mother lore. I thought it was a decent continuation of the main story, and much more satisfying than Cursed
Oh, I dont disagree with its importance in the grand scheme of the lore, I just feel like HG overstated what it was doing. They didnt tie up various strands of lore, they just built on one very solid arc that they've been focused on for a while now
If it failed at all, it's in not making Yabli a better character
Well... let's be honest, HG always overstates their lore reveals. The lore expeditions are like one bite of a meal
I feel like Singularity is still the most solid lore build up they've done in an expedition. I wish they'd use expeds as a way to drive the lore, and integrate that content into the main game later on somehow with other lore progression too
I hope thats what theyre planning to do with the cursed, but we'll have to see
yeah Singularity was solid, especially in the way the content and lore worked together
yep, its still in the ui file. whatever stops it from showing up on non-self bases is probably happening in the exe
Nice to see Sephiroth putting down bases in the simulation though

Got my first sentinel! And I'm working towards the sentinel upgrades for my mech!
Just wish I realized that when I first found a Sentinel nest (before the mission) that I would have known to check out the terminal lol
Can the new colossal water creatures be predators?
I agree with this, though echoes was also mostly story focused so there was more need for that imo
||ฯฮฟฮฝ ฮบฯฯฮผฮฟ ฯฮฟฯ ฮณฯ ฮฑฮปฮนฮฟฯ ... ฮณฯ ฮฑฮปฮฏ = Greek for ... exactly!||
I think what we did get in worlds part 2 was very good, it was exciting to see our actions in a quest actually have a galaxy wide impact
But it does feel like a prelude to something else more than a full thing, yeah
Especially with what was essentially a cliffhanger ending
I imagine the next narrative beat will deal with the regenerated Autophage, because I guess a lot of them were restored with the planets, but we didn't see any of them. Perhaps we will see settlement-sized communities or something
Iโd assume the next big narrative missions would be ||Korvax Prime/Void Mother|| reemergence

Atlas is typing...
If I want to get In Stellar Multitudes, do I have to make a new galaxy at the Atlas, or can I refuse, complete the quest, and still be able to get the In Stellar Multitudes to spawn?
make a new galaxy?
The void mommy was low-key a fan of the first spawn probably
Because it'd be more in character for tyrnaus to refuse
U need to finish atlas path, artemis quest, and they who returned to unlock it
nah you gotta make one afaik
I meant in the Atlas Path
Then i believe u need to pulse drive in a dissonant system
ohh
i actually don't know that
Yes
And wear the mark of the denier
Yes
Alr

I was gonna say I also refused to reset Atlas at the end, but the guide I saw said that was the reason I didnโt get the achievement for going to the center of the universe
I donโt know if thatโs true
HELLO????
yeah resetting the atlas sends you to a new galaxy bc thats the games way of making it seem like you reset the "universe", but you can go back to the old one as long as you have a base there, iirc even just been to a space station
Good job
free atlantideum
๐๐
Hey Iโm playing Artemis path and the atlas is giving me the option, wipe the system or initiate the personality interface
What does it do?
apart from different dialogue i dont think the choice is significant
also er i said that way too late didnt i
Welp, I've finally come to the crossroads on my main 1700+ hour save, I have to decide Artemis' fate. Never completed the quest on any other save. Is there any reason to keep her alive, content-wise?
artemis will contact you later on, and realize that theyre in a simulation, so nothing but regret i guess
after that nothing
๐ฆ
IIRC she gets over it.
are there gas giants that aren't just... bright green? or is that it
also, what's helium used for?
This is the guy to who I become their own Artemis. I hate the future.
theres different colours and patterns, rarities are not equal though it seems
Nah this guys a shuttle ship stop the cap
Scrap him for his orbs
Atlas honestly doesn't deserve the hate they get in the lore
So far, not much. Hopefully they get more useful in the future.
Same with Methane.
When you go into the core to travel to another universe what happens to your ship and stuff
All the tech will break. But you don't actually lose anything.
So I just switched out my OP stuff to other gear?
That's how a lot of people do it, yup. Then just switch it back after the jump.
For your exosuit tech, you can store the modules in your inventory.
So itโs technically NG+
Having all of your ships and Multi Tools still with you
Not really. You can return to any galaxy you've jumped to at any time. When you jump, put a base down. Then you can teleport back and forth all you want.
So itโs discovering a new galaxy you can travel to
I do have a base in the old galaxy so I can just go back when I travel
Yup
Think of it as not NG+, but just unlocking another area.
Btw I spawned like 680K light years away from the centre lol
Yeah, that happens heh
Do you need to travel the full distance or will the Atlas fast travel you
You only get fast tracked to the center in the storyline. If you want to galaxy jump again, you have to get to the core yourself.
There are a few ways to get there easier: like visiting features bases in other galaxies or portaling to an uploaded base near the core.
Don't know if anyone tried this one or not but try to || dig the ancient site where you found the gravity balls || and wait for surprises
So, does the new expedition start tomorrow?
nobody knows
Not even Bomber? Usually there's a time set for the start ๐
nobody knows
But..
...ok. ๐ฅฒ
(Kidding, thanks. I thought it was scheduled).
Hey so I got a bug
I had the heart of the sun in my inventory but when I went to the next galaxy it switched to a Star Seed
thats intnlended
Do you need to have both or is the star seed a upgraded HOTS
I did it.
Whatโs the difference between the Star Seed, HOTS and Remembrance
it actually does something so yes
I refused the Atlas in The Atlas Path, but I decided to reset the simulation. Tranquil Galaxy. I do not like the Atlas, it deserved to die. However, I will be the last. This galaxy doesn't deserve to die in silence. This new galaxy will be a better home.
I said โI wanna travel to new galaxies to explore new horizonsโ and went to a new galaxy
I will remember them, those long along the way
why do you hate atlas?
The death of the atlas means that all of these worlds die, so thatโs why I reset mine
I donโt want to lose all of these cool planets to explore plus all of the Gek, VyโKeen and Korvax deaths
It does anything to save itself, such as committing genocides in universes that fail to reset it
Same
Remembrance is such a cool item
so just biblically accurate god
Guess Iโll remake HOTS and see what happens
dont
HOTS is to make Starseed
and they both give 1 unit of health
If I have all 3 will it give me 3 more health or is Star seed and Remembrance the only buffs
HOTS is an item, not tech
Oh I didnโt know that
and remembrance stacks with star seed
Thanks for confirming
The music that plays during the new missions is just so beautiful
This game just keeps on delivering
Does anyone think the Child of Aquarius and Child of Helios are related? Like they're both big jellyfish.
The start time isnt set on the server yet, I'll keep checking up til The Cursed ends, but I think they're still patching issues with the exped, so we probably wont see it start today.
I saw someone saying earlier in general chat that the Switch end time had been extended by 6 days, but for no one else. but not sure if that's legit
Love the new tracks HG have been adding, I wish they'd release a new OST album with these.
I uploaded rips of the 3 tracks HG added w/ WPII, since they're too good to just listen to once haha
Hmm, I don't have a switch to check, did they send a screenshot?
I don't remember, I was half paying attention to chat at the time. I've pinged the person I think who mentioned it though
apparently that was just someone memeing, ah well

in #nms-expedition & run !Expedition in #bot-spam
The Atlas didn't die, it is literally everything on the simulation, every galaxy, every NPC, animal, plant, or mineral
Correct, but it is not a good entity. It deserved it have its 16 minutes and perish, but the people I could save by resetting it matters more to me
The atlas isn't good but I don't think it's evil either. It's just a faulty program.
It's more than just a program, it's an AI with some level of sentience. but yeah, it is faulty at this point (or at least the hardware it's running on is)
Pushes an Atlantideum in it's face and sideloads a Memories of Atlantid into it's interface to make it work better....
I agree to an extent, but I've read the crashed freighter logs and the Atlas has no problems killing entire universes because they don't obey it.
I'll put it this way. I didn't reset the universe for the Atlas. I did it for 1) to save more lives and 2) the Item Remeberence, for as long as I live, so do they
What kind of fishing lure and planet best works for child of aquarius?
I used Bionic
@icy citrus Expedition 17: Titan now has a serverside start date of <t:1739368800>
New here, is that time localized?
yep
Tyty
hype
Thank you
yippieee
Not for everyone
Switch Cursed expedition runs till the 18th
What time zone? 14.00 gmt?
The time it shows is local to you. That's why it's highlighted like that. It shows each person the time in their local time
Cool. Thanks
Welcome
so only in like 3 and a half hrs?
yeah... which means like always people will have finished it before I even wake up
yeeh part of me wants to stay up for the launch but, iimm dieein here
was rly hopeing it would launch now
I feel your pain. I'll also be in bed asleep when it drops.
oh its 3 pm for me
I'm honestly surprised that it's releasing on a Wednesday though. I thought it would've been on a Tuesday
doesnt help that i have an exam tomorrow
But yeah, it'll be 9:00am for me when it drops. Downside to night shift sleep schedule
On the plus side, it's a new Expedition so likely 6 weeks long
Yea I saw discussion around that a while back. I wonder how this is gonna affect HG's expedition schedule going forward.
This is very true. I'm super excited to play it
I'm guessing we won't get another back-to-back expedition at least
If they push that patch out for breach 3 today, I'd assume it won't - switch will just get a few days less
I think the only reason that happened is because they extended it because of all the bugs that was preventing people from being able to complete exp 16
Oh yea, there's a bunch of mission and reward fixes for Titan that're sitting in Steam Experimental rn. I'm guessing they're gonna release another patch in a few hours before the expedition starts.
Or exted console/pc time so both will end at same time.
Sure, that could work
or just not have an expedition immediately after this one ends, so that even after ending later, the switch gets back on schedule with the other platforms
oh thank you
stares at expedition console and notices it's unplugged ๐
I mean wasn't cursed like 2 weeks when it dropped?
I really hate the fact it was so short
That's why the likely portion
Every other expedition has been 6 weeks first run, aside from the cursed
Yeah cursed exp time was wierd
Cursed was released extremely close to the usual holiday rerun time
I personally would've preferred a delayed holiday rerun
Well cursed rerun was extended
Well, that's nice! Was kinda expecting it for today.
Think I'm somewhat cured from last year's expedition overload lol
Today?! Too close.
I mean, it was supposed to be last week iirc
This is the first real date we have had, but I'd guess it was delayed from when they planned yeah
maybe next Wednesday
on Serys x how do i find the runes thereโs only one communication station
hey yall, silly question but is there any symbol/shape for atlantid? (like how the atlas usually is associated with a diamond shape)
also sry if this is the wrong channel to ask abt this
i must have it for smt
Thought this would be the right place to ask...
What is the point of trying to get an S-tier Ship with several Supercharged slots? I'm currently flying around in a B-class clunker with 1 Supercharged slot, and I'm already tearing Capital Ships apart with next to no challenge... Are there anything bigger out there that requires a more powerful ship?
Something interesting I've noticed
They Who Returned and In Stellar Multitudes can be read as a sentence. They who returned, in stellar multitudes.
The classes give stat boosts or something iirc
Cargo and Tech Slots
Nope, there's not really endgame-level threats. It's pretty much just people minmaxing for personal satisfaction and internet bragging rights
man, kinda feel bad betraying the Atlas
What consequence lore-wise does birthing a star do? Will it save the Atlas?
I meant lore-wise
What does it imply, did Atlas just make us do all those for sh*ts and giggles?
It implies nothing
It was just a conclusion to what was back at the release the main storyline for the game
atlas didnt make you do anythin it literally says 'it just needed a user'
when you go to the terminal to make a new star
Atlas did though, it made us make those orbs, gather materials, and kept crafting, going from system to system. If that's not "making us do anything" then idk what is
you didnt have to do it lol
nothing forced you
literally a main mission
you literally had the option to walk away at any time
you can say 'no' at any terminal
It doesn't disappear if you do either
It's not mandatory
It does though
Atlas Path disappears because you complete it and gets replaced with the Atlas Eternal
And every mission is technically not mandatory, because it's an open world game
So you don't need to complete it
what kind of psychopath doesn't complete a mission, a main mission at that
During the prayers of the machine, from the autophage questline, I saw this when I presented the Atlantideum to the machine in the nexus. I did a little translation of the binary because why not and it came out as mother home... Now, granted, I haven't gone far in the storyline but when they say the mother is nearby... It makes me think that the nexus is part of the Korvax uh... What did they call again, the homeplanet and whatnot.
ayt, was just asking about the lore. not the technicality of the mission itself. what significance the stuff Atlas made us do was
kinda invested in the story
and not rewards or new features like the previous person said, I meant the lore... gonna look it up some more
korvax prime?
'mother' is the void mother, you know about that stuff?
Noooot yet. Was still a bit in the future but I had an inkling.
This is more or less a bit of a landmine but just figured I'd drop my deduction so far as a 'guess'.
Call it a leap of faith in my guesswork so far.
Indeed yep. Did not know the official site had a complete map of Euclid with the ability to input glyphs to get your planet's location. used it to compare the 2 main systems I have in one of my saves regarding the Artemis path. My starter system is on the exact opposite end of the galaxy from one of the systems I had saved the glyphs for after "A leap in the Dark" (That planet is one of the planets I encountered doing the missions for the Gek in "Patterns in Time" on that save). Really neat if you ask me!
Yea the Galactic atlas is cool, I use it to show non nms friends a general placement of certain planets.
Ex. My starting system, NMSCord hub, Galactic Hub planets
You know, after we put artemis in the simulation, do we ever hear from them after completing the main story? I think we talk to them once and thats it
its quite sad, I hoped we at some point we would be able to interract with them a bit more
Hey should i wipe the system or initiate personality interface? i did the personality one the first time.
So, if I have understood the message correctly of the concluded main questline, I can go to the center of the Euclid galaxy and reset the simulation (and each step I take adds a glyph, apparently?)...but I also don't have to? Like, at this point I can just do whatever I want.
Or is it counting down to 16 no matter what I do now?
